Out and about.
We haven’t done much “out and about-ness” lately. Just staying at home. Plugging away at typical normal life. It gets boring, a little dull, and sometimes you just start busting to want to get out and explore some. Well, we changed that these last few weeks.
We’ve been going out.
And sometimes, just the fact that it’s “out” (and that it’s “about” too), is enough.
So we went to a national park.
Fun. We had a picnic. My nephew learnt to throw a Frisbee (he’s eighteen months and we hope he doesn’t try this on some kitchen plates). We did some bushwalks. Saw some spectacular views. Squashed eight of us into our car and mime and I lost all feeling in our legs (since we were squashed in what I consider the boot, but is actually seats and seatbelts.)
Then the themeparks. We got half-price tickets (from mime’s school). Unlimited entry. Thrill rides? Yes please.
Then the beach. I love the beach. Love the smell, love the taste, love the wind. We saw dolphins. We hoped for whales, but not this time.
Busking. Going down-town with my friend (who is visiting for a few weeks, and I hardly ever see her, so it’s so special!) and squawking our violins together with good old Suzuki books. (love the Suzuki method!)
Markets. Took the thirty minute drive and had a great time. Complete with muddy shoes, rain, and sights and smells. Wow. waffles and chocolate and maple syrup. And boy it was cold! But what fun. And my white jumper came back a little less than white.
It’s out. And about. Sometimes it’s just good to have the change from normality.
stream of consciousness Sunday.
