What is the most inspiring music?
Well, the answer would differ for different people, of course. But I love music. Not just any music. Jazz (unless it’s the stuff Cait plays on the piano) grates on me, and just makes me cross listening to it, I do not see what people find in rock, and pop is just plain irritating.
I like two genres, respectively.
Firstly, classical. Particularly the fast and minor pieces. Like the Rondo Russo by Mercandente (I’m actually playing it in the eisteddfods this year.) Or this other piece on my CD. It’s track ten, I know that, but I have no idea what it’s called, and since I’m on a timer I can’t find out. Which makes adding that song obsilete, becasue you have no idea what I’m on about.
I also love Vivaldi’s music. Yes, I’m a flute player, and my favourite composer does violin music. Who cares. It’s beautiful.
But even more than classical, I love movie soundtracks. Not just any, once again, I hate that boppy poppy stuff they back some movies with. I like classical style ones. Batman. Peter Pan. The Hunger Games. Narnia. Avatar. A Series of Unfortunate Events. Lord of the Rings.
I have to say, the latter is my absolute favourite (at the moment, anyway.) The songs are just so sweet, sad, and beautiful, all at once. It makes you wish you could do something talented and impacting.
Maybe I can do that some day. With my flute or writing, who knows? But now I’ll just listen to soundtracks and feel inspired.
