we don’t celebrate american independence day (for obvious reasons…we’re not american. and we’re not “independent”.)
some things we usually do on australia day: we have lamingtons. a bbq. a swim in the pool or sea — and the sea is way better (just remember, it’s hot and sticky in january here!). sometimes there’s a pavlova! it’s a holiday so we usually do family things.
considering we have a few americans (or half americans in the case of my nephew and soon-to-be-nephew/niece) in our family, they decided to educate us in the ways of american-independence-day.
they showed us the wonders of s’mores.
