I have the best mother.
I know, I know, there are a lot of really good mothers out there…but mine? I know for sure she’s the absolute best.
The things mothers do… It’s amazing. It’s a wonder they only get one day where we celebrate all their marvellous and perilous and ingenious feats. Really, if you think about everything (yes, I mean everything) our mothers do, giving them one day seems laughable. They deserve so much more. Honestly.
My mother is the kind that loves me no matter what. It doesn’t matter how annoying mime or I get (yes, I’ll drag mime into it, because, well it’s both of our mother and mime is just as annoying as me…really), our mum still loves us. She might get annoyed. Or frustrated. But she still totally and absolutely loves us.
Now that’s something to get my head around.
I’ve tried running the house, when my mum’s been away. All those things mothers “just do”? How do they keep “just doing” it?? After making all the meals, doing dishes, cleanups, laundry and ironing – there’s all this extra stuff. Like planning. Meals need planning. Shopping. You need to plan to shop and you need to plan on what to get while you’re doing it. Driving us to music lessons or the dentist or the doctors or to church or to the shops or just plain out. And it’s amazing how fast meal times really do come around. And did I mention keeping the house looking nice?? Let’s just say, when I try to do it, I fail. Completely.
I know not everyone has this kind of mum. And I am so, so blessed to have a mum like I do. I’m so special and lucky and I really should thank her a whole lot more than I do.
She is the best mum.
Thanks mum. You’re absolutely, one-hundred-percent amazing. And I love you so much.
