Tiananmen Square was on our top list of “places to go while we’re in Beijing”. How can you see the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace — and not go to Tiananmen Square? So off we went.
And, by the way, it’s huge.
The pictures don’t capture the true size of the Square. But yes, that is the Forbidden City (complete with Mao’s picture in the middle) in the background. And the sky is always that colour. Smog. That’s China.
Impressive. Vast. Quiet.
And no, I didn’t take all the photos. Compliments to my dad and sisters (and, this last one, to our “self-appointed” Chinese tour guide, who wouldn’t leave us until we bought a painting from him. We did).
