I’m linking up with The Broke and the Bookish for their incredibly awesome meme: Top Ten Tuesday.
This is a meme involving lists, peoples. LISTS! I love lists.
This week’s prompt is: Top Ten Things On Your Bookish Bucket List. Which is a very interesting yet cool prompt and I had to ponder it for 3.2 seconds before I decided if I’d do it.
1. Own a collection of nerdy mugs.
This is very important to me because a) I have a secret obsession with mugs, and b) hot drinks taste better if they’re in mugs of ceramic awesome. I will own all these mugs one day. I need to have at least 5 or 70.
2. Own nerdy shoes.
This is very different to the nerdy mugs, because while mugs give coffee and coffee gives life — shoes are VERY handy for walking to the library in. I do love to walk, as well. If you walk and listen to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, you kind of feel like a Hobbit.
3. Watch a movie be turned into a book.
I would love to know how they go about turning movies into books. This absolutely fascinates me. How do they figure which book-talking-lines to keep? How do they brainstorm? How do they find the perfect actors? How often do they reread the book while making the movie? And I would LOVE to stand on set. It would be like the book exploding into real life. Okay, gosh, the feels….I’m dying here.
4. Go to a book signing.
I don’t believe I’ve ever met an author. I mean, maybe I did. Maybe I met a secret author once. But I want to get a book signed! Maybe be given a bookmark! You know, the COOL stuff.
5. Go into a publishing house.
I’d totally be up for this one. My mind boggles to think there are whole buildings DEVOTED to making books. (Yes, there are libraries, but they hoard, not make.) My appetite was whetted for this when I read The School Story by Andrew Clements back when I was little. It was a really cool (though kind of unrealistic, now that I think back) book about the publishing process. A twelve year old navigated it. Totally my go-to book when I started writing.
6. Have a room full of books.
This is going to happen soon, am I right, Mum?! I’ve already half filled the bookshelf I got for Christmas and it’s not even mid-year yet! Peoples, I want LADDERS that slide and BOOKS ON EVERY WALL.
7. Go to a blogging Thing.
I don’t even know what this Thing would be…I know they have BEA in America. They have a version of it in Australia (Aussies, correct me if I’m wrong!) but it’s different. But I would love to go to a Thing were people handed me books.
I wouldn’t talk to people. I would just read all the books.
8. Be published.
You know me. I write. I write a lot. This one is kind of obvious. Also, fun fact: when I get my book published, I’m going to reward myself by going into a bookshop and actually buying a FULL PRICED BOOK. Which ever one I want.
I have great life goals.
9. Be paid to read.
There are ways to do this, I believe, like being a paid reviewer. (I google it sometimes.) This would be the most awesome job in the world. I could read. I could hoard books. I could fangirl. AND I wouldn’t starve. Because, while being a “starving bookworm” is all very picturesque and story-worthy, I like food. I like food a lot.
10. READ ALL THE BOOKS EVER.
I’m not even exaggerating! I WANT TO READ ALL THE BOOKS. Every time I see a book, I get this feeling in my chest. It’s kind of like wanting to eat chocolate cake or rule the world — I just need to read books. And not just a few, all of them.
Oh gosh, whoops! Sorry blogglings, wrong GIF.
I mean this one:
Obviously I just need to live forever and read all the books and then I’ll be a happy snowman, right?
Cait would really really really like to see the Divergent movie. It comes out on the 10th in Australia and she’s dying with the unfairness of this fact. (She refuses to read any reviews of it.) BUT Australia gets the TFIOS movie ONE WHOLE DAY before the USA. So ha! Suckers. Currently, she’s reading THE BONE SEASON and is very confused about the whole thing.
