One thing we bookworms love to say is: “Oh I love this author so so so much they are my absolute FAVOURITE!”
This is generally a huge lie.
Not just because we bookworms are quite devious at calling multiple authors “my favourite” behind each other’s backs — but also because we often say it before we’ve read all their books. Ergo how can we know for sure they are a favourite??
But it can’t really be helped, okay?!
There are so many books. How are we supposed to fit them all in and still have time to devote in learning how to make caramel truffle cupcakes as we should???? It’s a hard life we lead and if you want to weep softly, you may. *
I have a lot of favourite authors. Have I read ALL their books??? Ummmmmmm…no. I feel mildly bad about this. Like can I really say that this author is the BEST OF ALL THE 13 GALAXIES if I haven’t read everything they’ve written?
Short answer: well obviously I can say whatever I darn well please.
Shorter answer: I am a bucket of guilt.
Shortest answer: *CRISIS*
Today I’m listing 10 authors I claim are my FAVOURITES but I haven’t read all their books. Yet. Like, just give me time, you impatient grasshopper. I’ve been working on the secret to immortality since 1844 and I feel so very close now. And also I get stuck in this cycle of tremendous fear that I won’t like a book I’m highly anticipating and then the world will dim, the sun will die, my left elbow will give in, and cake will taste less sweet. ** Hence some of these books are the fault of pure procrastination.
You may now refer to me as the Procrastination Queen. Thank you.
* But not on my shoulder, you lettuce leaf. What do you think this is? I am a Slytherin and have a fierce aura to uphold for goodness sakes.
** Truest horror story.
1. MAGGIE STIEFVATER
If you’ve been on my blog for 2.3 minutes you will have probably gleaned the fact that MAGGIE STIEFVATER IS MY MOST FAVOURITE AUTHOR OF EVER. I know the “so who’s your favourite author” question strikes fear into the heart of many. But I genuinely have an answer. I know right?!? What mad world am I. But I just love her books SO FREAKING MUCH.
Also I haven’t read them all.
This dark dark world we live in.
To be honest…I’m not that interested in her Pip series?? The first book was cute but there were no ghosts or people bleeding out of their eyes and that’s what I’m here for SO. I will read The Anatomy of Curiosities soon though!! LIES. BUT PROBABLY SOON. (I actually don’t own it which is 100% of the reason I haven’t read it.) And obviously I will read All The Crooked Saints the moment it’s published and falls into my hands. Please. Any time??? PLEASE.
2. VE SCHWAB
Oh hello to my SECOND favourite author of all the moons. I can’t even begin to describe how much I adore her books…or how freaking frustrated I am that I CAN’T FIND HER OLD ONES. They seem to be out of print everywhere???? And I also protest at how freakishly expensive her books are in general. I paid like $8 more for Our Dark Duet than I Would for any other YA hardcover.
But yet:
I have no excuse for The Unbound…and I’m just waiting for my copy of Our Dark Duet to arrive. But I CAN’T FIND THE NEAR WITCH ANYWHERE. And the Everyday Angel books just continually blow my mind that they exist. I mean we all start somewhere with writing but: what.
3. CASSANDRA CLARE
Okay I admit: sometimes I lose my mind a little with how amazing the Shadowhunter world is. I mean, you try writing 39839 books and TYING THEM ALL TOGETHER. She is a such writer goals. Such magic. Such amaze. And also, coincidentally, she is another author I am such a huge fan of that sometimes I lay on the carpet and just howl because shadowhunters. Also Mark Blackthorn. MARK.
What?
Oh yes. Discussing books…so moving forward.
(MARK MARK MARK)
I have no no no excuse for Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. Ugh I disgust myself with my need to do other things than read all day. Also I don’t think I want to read the rest of the Magisterium series? It felt like a Harry Potter rip off and also I CAN’T SPELL MAGISTERIUM WITHOUT HELP. #rude
4. RICK RIORDAN
I know some people are tired of the Percy Jackson world, but me? HAHAAHA, HECK NO. I’m still thoroughly obsessed like the 13 year old I truly am inside. * And I would be 500% okay if he just kept writing spin offs off of spinoffs off of spin offs. (Try saying that 5 times fast and not passing out, I dare you.) Still waiting on a Nico one…
* PROOF that a good book knows no age boundaries. I also ate a 13 year old, so…you know.
I actually didn’t like the Kane Chronicles, which bewilders me too. And there are SO many short stories in Percy Jackson’s world that ahquhahuqah I’m never going to read them (mostly because I refuse to pay several dollars for like 40 pages). AND DID YOU KNOW RICK RIORDAN HAS AN ADULT BOOK??? BECAUSE I DIDN’T.
5. MINDY MCGINNIS
Okay so she doesn’t have a lot of books out but ohhhh are they incredible. I mean, all two of them that I’ve read. The blurbs and covers are kind of unappealing (I’M SORRY BUT IT’S TRUE) but both times I’ve read a McGinnis book I’ve had the kind of SLAM YOUR FEELS WITH 9 FRYPANS AND 12 DOZEN EGGS * feeling, which is great, by the way. Highly recommend.
* I just made this sound like a breakfast order but (a) breakfast is important, and (b) THEY’RE STILL SO GOOD OKAY. JUST TRUST ME.
It’s pretty bad that I just want Given to the Sea for the epic cover, isn’t it?
6. DANIEL HANDLER
AKA say hello to LEMONY SNICKET!! You wouldn’t even believe how devastated I was to learn Lemony Snicket had a boring normal author name too. Like way to go to go for crushing my childhood, Mr. Handler. 95% of my trust issues are because of you.
Anyway, obviously I am a #1 fan. Look at my entire sense of warped humour.
Okay now I know what you’re thinking. And it’s either (a) “I could really use a lemon meringue pie right now” because don’t we all think that constnatly or (b) “are you a little bit obsessed with this author”. Hopefully you were only thinking the first because ME TOO. As for the second:
7. PATRICK NESS
I have this odd relationship with Ness books in which I love them so so much and am also PETRIFIED OF THEM. All his books I’ve read get 4 or 5 stars from me and yet just say “Manchee” and you’ll reduce me to a huddling pile of tears and betrayal in the corner.
I LOVE HIS BOOKS BUT THEY HURT.
I am keen to finish the Chaos Walking books for sure. Once I stop crying. And I’d like to try his adult books! He also seems to have 50 billion short stories in different anthologies but the person interested in short stories is: not me.
8. NEAL SHUSTERMAN
You know that moment when you’re like “YES I LOVE THAT AUTHOR!” only to look them up on Goodreads and find 9389729 books you never even knew existed? Yeah. I’m…having that moment. I feel a bit bashful. But I absolutely adore the three books of his I have read. Like all the stars and my feels are on the floor. THAT COUNTS FOR SOMETHING, RIGHT???
#TerribleFan
I mean…what have YOU done with your life. Because clearly Neal Shusterman never stops writing. I don’t even think I’ll ever read all these though?? Yes I am a snob, but the older look ones don’t appeal. I’d like to read the Everlost books though! And finish off the Unwind series….still traumatised from the first book and it’s been like three years. BUT WHATEVER.
9. DEREK LANDY
These books are so FUNNY. Like the kind of laugh out loud funny that has you snorting like a deranged penguin in your room and leaves your family quietly listing you for sale on etsy. THEY’RE GOOD BOOKS! So obviously I should’ve read them all!! Particularly since I own most of the Skulduggery Pleasant books and the sequel to Demon Road.
Oh do you see those limp arms waving feebly from underneath that ominous pile of books? That’s me.
I DON’T HAVE TIME TO READ ALL THE THINGS I WANT TO READ. THIS IS FRUSTRATING.
Also sometimes he publishes 2 books a year and I feel this isn’t fair on my attempts to catch up. I’m trying, seriously. Can’t we all pause a minute and take a nap.
10. RAINBOW ROWELL
Rainbow Rowell will forever have my respect forgiving us the glory that is Fangirl. And therefore the adorable cinnamon scone glory that is Simon and Baz. But seriously, Cath is like the #1 best fangirl/writer/introvert of EVER. Most of the time YA characters are out slaying mountains and eating steak and being bloody…and like that’s awesome but not relatable. Cath, however, ate peanut butter in her dorm room for like 3 weeks to avoid a cafeteria. #relatable
Have I actually made an effort to read her adult books? Have I?
This is because I’m actually still a child. See aforementioned miles and miles of Lemony Snicket books. BUT I WILL SOMEDAY. Because I truly do like her style! Even though I secretly * think Eleanor and Park is a bit overhyped.
* SHHH IT’S A SECRET. I just broadcasted it to 3,000 of you or whatever but #secret.
The conclusion we can draw?
Cait proclaims undying love probably far too early — but LIFE IS SHORT. And if I want to call an author my favourite, I shall. Although I still do feel bad for not having read everything they’ve put out. (Except Neal Shusterman because let’s agree 39898 books is ridiculous.) (And amazing.) Clearly I just have to read more and faster and never sleep again. Excellent plan. I shall begin immediately.
Oh I love this topic Cait! I admit guilt when it comes to Jonathan Stroud. He has 2 or 3 standalone books I have yet to read. ._. I also haven’t read Rick Riordan’s The Kane Chronicles because I was told it was too similar to PJO so I had little interest. Maybe someday. And what are those Angel books by Schwab. Like, the covers only are… @_@
I haven’t read ANY books by him yet and I own 3!! I’m so bad.😂 I’ve heard his writing is hilarious and fantastic though, so I need to get onto that. And actually I felt Kane was too different from PJO for me to get into it.😂
I haven’t read all of the books published by most of my favourite authors either, usually I’ve read at least a few though before I call them a favourite author (2 books counts, right?! It’s more than 1). It doesn’t bother me much, because I feel I have something to look forward to. I savour their books, knowing that when I’m feeling low I can pick up a book by a favourite author and feel better. I also find it difficult to deal with cliffhangers, so if a series is unfinished I usually prefer to wait until it’s finished. If a favourite author has published a lot of books, I generally try to read one or a few per year, and not more than that (if I have unread books by them). However, I get author burnout quickly, so I don’t want to read too many of the same books in too short a timespan (hence a few per year). So reading more than a few books a year by an author would be too much in the case of a lot of authors, also depending on the length of their books.
Maybe the thought of savouring books by your favourite authors or leaving something to look forward to, can help? I find it helps me.
I loved Fangirl much more than Eleanor & Park. I haven’t read Landline yet and didn’t know about the short story book (is that what it is?), but I’ve read the other books by Rainbow Rowell. It was only this year though that I read Eleanor & Park. My first Rainbow Rowell book was Fangirl.
I do get anxious from the picture of the Rick Riordan books, how did you know?! I have quite a few occasions of that on my shelves. Sometimes I can live with it better than other times, it depends on how off it looks. But sometimes there is no other edition available, so then no choice! I recently read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (my first Rick Riordan book) and really liked it, and I definitely plan to read more by Rick Riordan.
I read the first two books in the Magisterium series, but to be honest the second was kind of disappointing. I really liked the first. I did buy the third book but now I’m hesistant to start it because what if it’s disappointing too..
Also, I totally want a lemon meringue pie now.
I feel like two books TOTALLY counts.😂 And like it’s hard for debut authors too…am I allowed to shriek their praises when I’ve only ever seen one book by them!? WHY MUST BOOKWORMS HAVE SO MANY CRISES.
I’m also glad you liked Fangirl best too!! I read it before E&P, but I guess it was just more of a story I connected with, with all the nerdom and peanut butter. #PeanutButterAppreciation I will try her adult books at some point though…like in 73 years time most likely.
I’M SORRY ABOUT THE RIORDAN PICTURE. IT MAKES ME SO ANXIOUS TOO. *shrieks* I am just 500% done with how they WON’T print all the books the same size. The Magnus Chase series lives to torment me. (But all his books are so so good and funny!!)
And lemon meringue pie is so delicious. It should be like a staple of life.
Wow! Nice post! Love the pictures! I am behind in Mindy’s books as well!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Mindy McGinnis is SUCH an amazing author!! I need to quit procrastinating and read aaaall her things.😂
Oh I totally agree with a lot of these, especially Mindy McGinnis even though I’ve only ever read Not A Drop To Drink by her.
Brandon Sanderson is totally one of those favourite authors of mine who I haven’t read the entire catalogue by. To be fair: his books are LONG and PLENTIFUL. Hahaha. I read five books by him so far, all over the 800 pages mark. One of them was over 2000 pages. So yeah. I feel justified in my fangirl-dom without having read them all. He’s a total Derek Landy case… haha.
Omg but Sanderson has like 93898 books and they’re all bricks.😂 I DO NOT BLAME YOU THERE.😂 At least Derek Landy isn’t going too far over the 600pg mark..yet.😂
This is my secret reader shame! I do this all the time and I don’t understand why! It is a weird procrastination thing. “No, I won’t read that book by the author that I love. I know! I will reread a Sweet. Valley high novel that I just remembered exists!” Excellent use of time…
*hi fives for our weird procrastination* 😂😂It’s like it gets more nerve-wracking when you love an author a lot because what if their next books let you down??? Crisis intensifies.
To be fair a lot of authors have books in different age groups and genres so if you don’t like that genre then you probably won’t want to read that book, Or maybe I’m just making excuses for myself.
Great post!
That IS very true. Like I often find YA authors who merge into MG lose my interest…although I don’t *mind* a lot of adult books, but I still steer clear of them mostly. 😂😂
I don’t think it’s odd at all that you haven’t read every book published by your favorite authors! I think I’ve only actually read one of my favorite authors’ entire lists. Sounds like I’ve got work to do!
There are SO many books we need to have devoured like…yesterday. Right!?😂 I need more eyeballs…
I’ve read all but two on the read rick list, ( XD ) the same for the unread rick list. but really, you NEED to read percy’s greek gods. I love it. the heroes one is good too, but I like the greek gods one better. what was I saying? Oh yeah. so, if you’re the Procrastination Queen now, may I be the Dragon Queen??? puh-lease?????? oooh, and read Eragon! I know you have it, just get a move on! you can write a huuuuuuuge flailing review about it! It’ll be great! 😀
Most crazily, ~Olive
I will!! I promise!! I just need to read ALL the Riordan eventually because at least then I Can say I have. #RabidFan 😂😂
EXCUSE ME, I CAN BE THE PROCRASTINATING DRAGON QUEEN. IT IS MY TITLE.
(Eragon is one I will try too!! And I do own it so…no excuses.😂)
XD XD XD
aww darn.
no excuses for you!
I am also hoping for a Nico series!
I still haven’t read I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson, or Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater. I’m behind on Riordan’s latest releases by two books, I’ve only read the first Darker Shade of Magic books, and I’ve only just started Crooked Kingdom.
In conclusion, I need more time. 🙁
We can hold out hope, right?! Maybe Riordan will hear our whining.😂😂
I haven’t read anything else by Jandy Nelson except I’ll Give You The Sun. She has more books doesn’t she?? *flaps about and tries to remember* AND YES: CONCLUSION IS DEFINITELY THAT WE NEED MORE TIME TO READ.
Ohmygosh I totally do this! Like, I’m in love with Shannon Messenger’s middle grade series, Keeper of the Lost Cities, but I still haven’t read her ya series?????????? WHAT IS THIS????
WE NEED MORE HOURS IN OUR DAY, CLEARLY.
YES!
Patrick Ness is also one of my favorite authors but I read like 3 of his books I will catch up as soon as I can. Definitely. *I am trying to convince myself*
*nods wildly and tries to convince self to catch up too* HE’S SUCH A GOOD WRITER THOUGH OMG.
To be honest, you’ve read all the best Rainbow Rowell books already. xD I would still read the others, because she’s awesome and each of her books has some sort of special Rainbow spark, but nothing is going to be quite as good as Fangirl or Eleanor & Park.
J.K. Rowling is my favorite author, but I’ve yet to read A Casual Vacancy or any of her Robert Galbraith books! Shame on me.
Eeeep, good then!😂 I mean, I do want to try her adult books someday to at least say I’ve read them? I do wish she’d write moooore though!! GAH. FANGIRL IS THE BEST. WHAT CAN LIVE UP TO IT.
Cait, my Cake Queen!!! Do I have to buy a ticket to Australia (and I am so broke) & glue The Scorpio Races to your hands? Do I?! B/c I will!!!!! You must read this book. It’s my favorite of hers. HORSES that EAT PEOPLE!!! Also, you know Maggie made up her own fictional cake in that book, right? Pleeeeeaaaassseee read it soooooon!!!!!
Oh wait. My humblest apologies, my Cake Queen, but I just realized I read your wonderful picture graphics wrong. You HAVE read The Scorpio Races. My Tuesday just got brighter, and my wallet happy it didn’t have to buy a ticket to Australia. 😉
BAHAH I’M GLAD YOU KNOW I’VE READ THE SCORPIO RACES.😂 I mean how could I exist without having read it?!? I even have read it twice. IT IS MY FAVOURITE OF HER BOOKS.
You’re not alone on the Derek Landy front! I still haven’t finished Skulduggery Pleasant – and now he’s brought the series back, so there go my hopes of catching up – and I’ve only read Demon Road so far which was fun but I don’t think I cared enough to read the other two books. =\ I’m also ashamed to say I’ve owned Fangirl since it came out and still haven’t read it. Oops…
I know right?! And now I’m worried I’ll see spoilers. *weeps* I muuuuust catch up.
My favorite authors all have way too many books. I’ve read around 30 Stephen King books in my life, and he still has a billion more. He’s a fast writer, and I’m a slow reader, and this relationship just isn’t working. *Howls with frustration*
Oh oh doesn’t Stephan King have like A SLIGHTLY MILLION BOOKS??!?😂 I haven’t even read one yet!
I do this wayyy too often. Sometimes I read one book from an author and then proclaim them as one of my favorites. It”s a serious problem. I had no idea Riordon had an adult book! *gasp* Also I am in love with The Kane Chronicles series but it’s been SO LONG since I’ve read them haha.
THERE’S TOO MANY AUTHORS AND WE MUST LOVE THEM ALL!! And I know right?! I didn’t even know most of these books existed until I was putting together this post.😂
This is painfully true! We all tend to be fake fans. I love so many authors and have read like only two of their books. This is true for me for Patrick Ness, Cassandra Clare, and many of the authors you put. This is a great post!
We are such fake bookworm fans.😂😂 BAHAH JUST KIDDING. We do what we can and have fun, right?!
I have not read all of Terry Pratchett’s books. Nearly all, but there are still around a dozen I’ve never set eyes on (except in marketing campaigns, so that I realize they exist but I do not own them).
In some cases, I have purposefully decided not to try to read everything an author has published, because I need to live the rest of my life as well.
For example, I gave up on the Iron Trial series (I can’t spell its true title, either). And Shadowhunters. And never even started Percy Jackson, and now I would NEVER catch up, so, moving on…
I’ve also chosen not to attempt to finish all the Warriors novellas/manga/supereditions, because, again, just not enough time in an individual’s life expectancy.
NO REGRETS.
Hasn’t he written like HALF A BILLION BOOKS?!? *sweats* I’ve read exactly 1. 😂 And a graphic novel, but that probably doesn’t count haha.
But omg wait wait are you meaning to tell me there is life outside of catching up on all an author’s books??? THIS IS NEW INFORMATION.
I only committed to reading most of Discworld (without all the graphic novels, theatre scripts, etc.) There are around 50, I think, but that’s because Pratchett wrote the first one back in 1983 or something. 😀
And yeah, every now and again, actual life may sneak up and demand you interact with it. 😛
Rick Riordan has an adult series too, about a Texan unlicensed PI named Tres Navarre.
Oh Goodreads has let me down! I thought I caught them all.
This is by far the most relatable bookblog post that I’ve ever read. I mean, I get that writing is their full time profession, but authors need to slow down.
My favourite author of all time is *looks around for haters* Sarah J. Maas. I’ve read all her books, though. Twice. (Yes, I’m very proud of that.)
BUT there are also these 97343658 authors whose books I’ve enjoyed but not ALL their books. #shame
VE Schwab is one author we have in common. But in my defence, I’ve only started reading her books last Sunday and I can’t read Our Dark Duet because I have schooool and someone burn the place down because I need August Flynn.
And, as always, great post!
P.S. You need to slow down with your posts, too. No offence but I still haven’t caught up with the ones from 2015. #sorrynotsorry
AHH I’M GLAD YOU LIKED IT! Also yes please, authors, do slow down a few years or something so we can catch up. *throws papers in the air and runs about screaming*
And omg I’m SO glad you’ve started Schwab!! August is perfection. A perfect gorgeous sweet cinnamon monster. *sobs because feelings*
Bhahahah, do NOT be reading my archives.😂 Please. That’s terrifying.😂😂
It’S KIND OF INSANE HOW AWESOME THIS POST IS.
Anyways, I TRIED Derek Landay Skulduggery Pleasant and I DID NOT LIKE? The first book was quite good, and like I will always love smol little Skulduggery but the second book had me yawning. I WILL TRY AGAIN! I promise!
I’ve only read ADSOM by V.E Schwab but still probably one of my favourite authors. I like Leigh Bardugo’s book, even though I’ve only read like 2? I FEEL LIKE LIANI TAYLOR should be on here? SHE’S AN AWESOME WRITER (strange the dreamer *hyperventilates*) I need to read Maggie’s books! AND I NEED CASSIE CLARE’S BOOK TOO.
OMG LEMONY SNICKET FOREVER
AWW THANK YOU!😂 But aww sadness that you didn’t like Skulduggery. I shall just cry quietly now. Although if it helps, I think the books get better as they go on? And zomg you must read ALL THE SCHWAB. I swear all her books are just phenomenal.
HEY BUT I’VE READ ALL THE LAINI TAYLOR. GO ME! 😀 😀
OMG, I’ve read a book that you haven’t! (The Latke Who Couldn’t Stop Screaming is quite cute. Kind of weird, but I enjoyed it.)
There are definitely books by my favourite authors that I haven’t read. I mean, come on. Diana Wynne Jones? She wrote more than 35 books, and I’ve probably read fewer than 10 of them. And Charles de Lint? Hahaha… 70+ books there, and I’ve only read a handful. (Unfortunately, the last few of his that I’ve read have kind of turned me off a little. I should go back and read some of his older ones that I never got around to; I have a feeling they’re better.)
Maybe I should pick favourite authors who aren’t so prolific…
I’m kind of ashamed I haven’t read the Latke one yet! I should’ve tried to see if my library had it before I moved *facepalm* 😂
And some of these authors are just so amazingly prolific, right?! IT’S SO ADMIRABLE.
I haven’t read any of Schwab’s books yet, but it feels like I have so many on my TBR. Shades of Magic, Villains…….tOO MANY. And I’ve wanted to read them for so long and I just ??? haven’t ???
Skulduggery Pleasant and Magnus Chase have been on my TBR for forever! And Arc of a Scythe is also on my list this TTT, but for some reason I got the idea that it was Shusterman’s debut….? How wrong can I be, wow.
YESS CARRY ON IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING EVER.
I proclaim immense love for Anne Rice, but I’ve really only read her Vampire Chronicles books (shhh) and a couple Mayfair Witches novels. Still nowhere near her complete works. The story is the same with E.L. Konigsburg and Nathaniel Philbrick.
Ellie | On the Other Side of Reality
You goooootta, Ellie. I BEG YOU. And then I will hope nervously that you love it, hehe. And omg yes definitely not a Shusterman debut there. 😂 He’s definitely a writing veteran. I was SO shocked when I discovered all the books he has! WRITER GOALS.
I don’t know what the cost would be, but Abe Books has The Near Witch. They might be ex-library copies, though.
I actually have now got a copy!! 🎉🎉
L.M. Montgomery. I’ve read all of her Anne books, but nothing else.
And I’ve only read the first Anne book so #BookwormShame for me.😂
RICK RIORDAN IS THE BEST GHSFHGUDHFHBVHDFGIUHVBFDXGHVF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE IS PRETTY DOWNRIGHT FANTASTIC.
CAN I SAY I RELATE. EXCEPT I HAVE READ MOST OF MY FAVORITE AUTHOR’S BOOKS?? BUT THAT’S ALSO BECAUSE ALL OF THEM HAVE USUALLY PUBLISHED LIKE ONE OR TWO OR FIVE BOOKS TOTAL.
And also I LOVE THE KANE CHRONICLES WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THEY ARE SO GOOD. *mildly hyperventilates over their awesomeness*
Forgive my use of all caps in this comment.
YOU ARE BETTER THAN ME THAN AND I BOW TO YOUR SKILLS.😂 And apologise for not loving the Kane Chronicles.😂
At first I died laughing at the Neal Shusterman section, and then I began sobbing because HE HAS A BOOK CALLED EVERLOST???? What???!?!?!?! NO! That is MINE!!!! *sobs for 3,000 years because #notfair*
Now I don’t know what to do about the name of my book…?
ANYWAY, existential crises aside, this post was absolutely hilarious (as are all of your posts) but I must say that the Neal Shusterman part had me in stitches. How does he even WRITE that much??? And also, if you ever discover the secret to immortality, please tell me. I could use the extra never-ending years…
OH! OH! I am reading This Savage Song right now, and I am 1000% in love so far! I cannot wait, because A) apparently there’s no romance??? and B) it’s like the monster is the human and the human is the monster, and I’m just loving how conflicting it is!!
Aww, that sucks when that happens, right? *pats shoulder* There are books with the same titles out there though! Also 100% think Neal Shusterman is a writer machine. #GOALS It gives me hope.
BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’M GLAD YOU LIKED THE POST.
And YES, there is no romance in This Savage Song. It’s so refreshing. 😉
The title of the post has me so triggered – and guilty! I actually have never read rainbow rowell. I know. I know, it’s so shameful. I need to get on that ASAP.
Eeeep, we are all so guilty right?!😂😂 But hey tHERE’S STILL TIME TO READ ALL THE BOOKS! *rapidly plans to live forever*
I’m the worst for saying people are my favourite despite having only read like 2 of their books. But I kinda also half think that if I liked those two that much (and they’re different genres) then I must have a big love for their writing style at least? I don’t know, I’m probably just in denial.
I love Daniel handler but have definitely not read as many of his as you have. I’ve read the series of unfortunate events books and Adverbs (and one other I think) but I haven’t yet been disappointed so he remains pretty near the top. As for Maggie Stiefvater I still haven’t started reading any of hers so I can’t really rate her yet, I get the feeling I’m going to like her though 🤔🤔🤔
Truman Capote is another firm favourite but I’m still working out who I love – every new book I read throws some competition into the mix. Hopefully I stop being so flakey and vague once I try a few more! 😂😂😂❤️📚
So true! And like I mean, we bookworms can make the rules of our “favourite author” lists anyway right?!
I’m a little obsessed with Lemony Snicket AS IS SLIGHTLY HARD TO SEE OF COURSE.😂 AND OMG MAGGIE STIEFVATER CAN DO NO WRONG.😍😍
I love this discussion you’ve made! I think I’m definitely guilty of not reading all of my favourite author’s books, but I’ll get there someday! I’ll have to agree with you about Victoria Schwab and Cassie Clare but also Leigh Bardugo! I haven’t read Six of Crows yet and I need to!
(plus, i need to read TDA or you might kill me)
Aww, thanks, Joel! And omg you MUST read Six of Crows as soon as you can!😂 I should’ve put Leigh Bardugo on this list too actually, because she has a ton of novellas I haven’t read..oooops.😂
*gasps* I don’t think I could EVER even DREAM of saying one author is my absolute favourite. Or even non-absolute favourite. People who don’t read ask me this all the time and I tend to get all flustered and mumble “Well, I love Jane Austen, but Terry Pratchett too. And obviously J.K. Rowling, but only the proper Harry Potter books. Agatha Christie? Oh, definitely Mercedes Lackey. Shirley Jackson! Rick Riordan. But then there’s loads of others too…’ and then that goes on for a while until I realise that they’ve walked off.
To be honest, I’m really struggling to get into V.E. Schwab. I read ‘A Darker Shade of Magic’ and thought it was alright but nothing special, and only really bought the second because (*cough cough*) they looked nice on the shelf together in the shop. I’ll read it at some point as maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for the first book at the time.
I do like Cassandra Clare, but there are SO MANY of her books and I’m never sure which is the next book/series and whether I have to have read the previous eight books or whatever, and it just seems like a lot of effort. They are brilliant though 🙂
New follower! I stumbled across you… somehow. Think I was bloghopping. Anyway, I’ll be back!
I always have a million favourites too, don’t worry. 😉 It’s IMPOSSIBLE to pick just one!!
Thanks so much for stopping by. 😀
R.L. Stine I consider a favorite author, but he has sooo many books. My ultimate goal is to one day read them all…hahahahaha like that’s ever gonna happen XD
I also have many “favorite authors” that i’ve read like..one book from and I loved it sooo much but like..it’s one book? I must read more!
Ohhh he DOES have a bazillion books. I don’t blame you there.😂 And I totally think we can put “favourite author” titles on authors when we’ve just read one book. 😂
Of course I have favorites that I haven’t finished reading all their books yet! I think the ONLY author who is one of my favorites and I’ve read everything from is probably John Green?? I seriously can’t think of another author. I loooove VE Schwab but alas, I have only read oNE OF HER FRACKEN BOOKS. However, I love her. I watch her youtube videos and stalk the heck out of her twitter and she’s just perfect??
I also really love Rainbow Rowell! But no, haven’t read them all 😬 I SHALL GET THERE SOMEHOW SOME DAY SOME WAY
YOU GOTTA READ ALL THE SCHWAB IMMEDIATELY, KRIS. YOU WON’T REGRET IT. She’s suuuuch a nice person online too. And like total writer goals?! Omg how does one be that fabulous.
I couldn’t get into Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. I just didn’t get it. Landline was okay, I listened to it, but I found the couple to be a tad annoying by the end. But Eleanor & Park might be one of my all time favorite contemporary (can it be called contemporary if it takes place in the 80s?) teen love story.
I think E&P still counts as a contemporary, right?! I’m glad you loved it so much!
I love your twist on the Top Ten Tuesday prompt this week! I don’t think there is a single author where I have read ALL of their books, even if I claim they’re a favorite. I completely agree with you on Rick Riordan, Rainbow Rowell, and VE Schwab. I love their books but have yet to read them all!
I actually didn’t do the TTT prompt at all haha!😂 This was just me being random tbh, but it does fit a *little* doesn’t it?😂
Oh my gosh yes! Rick Riordan really needs to do a Nico spin off! Please, please, please!
And I was also wondering where you got the video of my cat?? OK not really… but my cat does like to pull all of my books off the shelf so he can sit there.
YES PLEASE RICK RIORDAN. WE’VE ALL ASKED SO NICELY. 😂 And bahaha your cat must be fun around bookshelves then.😂
I essentially dedicate the bottom 2 shelves on two of my bookcases to him and put stuffed bears there instead of books, otherwise I have to pick up books several times a day.
🙂 D.NA. and Bradbury are my favorites. Read all but Young Zaphod and why didn’t I hear about these before?
Curse you, cheap library.
But Agatha Christie. Oh, why do you taunt me so?
You’ll hate me for this, but I had a love/hate relationship with Riordan before I decided to put him down for good. The stories were interesting, but he kept saying things that offended me as a polytheist.
I won’t hate you haha! Everyone’s taste in books is different. 😉
From all of the amazing things I’ve heard about Neal Shusterman, I’m really disappointed in myself for having read exactly zero of his books – I plan on fixing that very soon though!
Lauren @ Always Me
You definitely should!! Challenger Deep and Unwind are SO GOOD AND MAKE ME CRY.
WAIT HIS REAL NAME IS NOT LEMONY SNICKET??? I FEEL SO CHEATED RIGHT NOW :0 :0 :0
THE WHOLE WORLD IS A LIE.
I’m exactly the same with Rainbow Rowell. I always profess to love her books but I’ve only read Fangirl, Attachments and Eleanor and Park (which I agree was a little overhyped – I liked it, but it was definitely my least favourite of the three). Hopefully I’ll get round to reading some more of her books soon so my Rainbow Rowell-love can continue!
Great post! 🙂
We should definitely work on our Rowell fandomness soon, right?!😂😂 I think E&P was good, like I gave it 4-stars I think! But just looking back I still don’t feel that much for it. 😛
Hi, Cait!
Did you miss me? Did you? Did you? 😀
So, where to start? My faoeaettdIwnllswiwIdahdtthoaabtwpbab (favourite author of ever and ever till the day I will no longer love space which is when I die a horrible death through the hands of an astronaut because that would probably be a bummer) is Roald Dahl. I think I own most of his books and seen most of the movies and have been to the museum in Great Missenden and walk his favourite trail – no, that was totally legit and I am not a creepy stalker – but hey, there are at least 5 of his books on my shelf I still haven’t read yet. There must be somethins siriously wrong with me.
Also, I wanted to know if you have read Ness’ “The rest of us just live here”? I still have it on the pile and I’m afraid it will destroy me.
I haven’t read any of Rainbow Rowell’s YA books but I loved “Attachments”. Try it, Cait, it is funny and sweet and at some points it will completely destroy you.
At this point I’ll probably finish the magisterium series. These are the only books I will buy because of cover reasons. You have no idea how pretty the German copies are, Cait. They SPARKLE! Also, even if what happens is pretty obvious I didn’t see that cliffhanger in the third book coming. So, well, I have to know, Cait. I. Have. To. Know.
There are probably more “favourite authors of all times” I haven’t read all books from. Like Ursula Poznanski. Or Kerstin Gier. Or others. I’m a crazy pop tart, what can I say?
LG, M
*gives you welcome back cake* BUT OF COURSE.😂
Oh I love Roald Dahl too!! I remember one year getting like EVERY book of his I could find out of the library and just binge reading them all.😂 GOOD TIMES. And you are an excellent book fangirl Roald Dahl stalker there. 😉
Oh yes! I loved The Rest Of Us Just Live here. One of my all time favourites. 🙂
Very busy working a job where I don’t get enough sleep. I’m not even on Twitter. But I came back because you’re my fave blogger. One day, you’d publish your novels and I will put you on my own top ten. -Louise from Twitter with the moon-eating bakunawa
OMG THIS OFFICIALLY MADE MY DAY. THANK YOU, LOUISE!!
WHOA, you have… sooo many Neal Shusterman books to read…. XD I can’t believe you haven’t read all the Schwab and Stiefvater books! Such an interesting post 😀
Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
I KNOW. I’m very ashamed for not having read all the Stiefvater, buuuut in my defence MG and I don’t get on so well mostly haah.😂 When I get to the library (soooome day) I’ll try and convince them to buy her MG books just so at least I can say I read them.😂
That’d be… Every single one of my favorite authors. Even worse though! There’s one I love and haven’t read any of their books. None at all. Now that’s weird… Excuse me while I go fix it *sits in a corner with This Savage Song*
That’s why debut authors are great because at least we aren’t behind, right?!😂😂
Not that I want to give you more books to read, you have quite the TBR, but I can’t help but mention that Rick actually has about 5 adult books. He wrote them before the Lightning Thief. I think i’ve read three of them and they are just as good as the Percy one. I loved your list. All of these authors would be on my list, except for maybe Maggie, I have read all of her books so far. Very nice post!
OMG I DID NOT KNOW THAT. Also I will subtly glare at Goodreads for not showing them all up!?? SHEESH. Okay more for the TBR.😂
What, I’m not seeing Cornelia Funke, or am I just not seeing her? Or have you read most of her stuff? I remember you really adore her too 😀
As for me, I can claim I’ve read a lot of books by most authors I claim as favorites. But I’ll be boring and literary here, cause for me it’s people like Vonnegut, Remarque and Faulkner 😀 although yes, I have only read one by Faulkner and I am constantly ashamed of how I am not reading anything else by his genius. So I get you 😀 but as for the others, often I’ll have read like… 5-7 books of theirs, so a significant bit of what they’ve written. But that’s before I started blogging… now I’m just reading obscure stuff cause NetGalley 😀
Actually that’s true, she should be on here! I don’t think I call her a “favourite ever” author though because I rate her stuff 4 stars not 5.😂 I’m fussy! I’ve only read 5 of her books though so definitely need to read more. *nods*
You’re not boring! 😉 You’re just super smart to be reading all the classic authors too haha.
CAIT. YOU NEED TO FINISH THE SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT SERIES. They’re heartbreaking and Derek Landy loves torturing his readers which results in book hangovers and 500 liters of tears but YOU NEED TO READ THEM ASAP. <3 (Says me who has had the last book for a week and still not read it XD)
I KNOW. I’M SO ASHAMED. *sobs* Although I actually confess I was reading them with a friend but then we had a rather brutal falling out so I have a bit of bad memories attached…hoooowever they’re REALLY good books so I’ll get back to them eventually. *flails*
Oh god… Neal Shusterman has written a lot of books that I didn’t know existed. Also *hangs head in shame* I haven’t read a single Cassandra Clare, Daniel Handler, Patrick Ness, or Derek Landy book…. I know I should reallyyyy get around to their work, but there’s so many new releases to get around to, and ugh, I’m already drowning in my tbr…
Saaaaaaame
Though I own a Patrick Ness and a VE Schwab book so I’ll be fixing this any time soon. They’re the kind of authors you’re like ALL THEIR BOOKS LOOK SO GOOD BUT I’M BROKE and cry for hours 😭
@Kai: NEAL SHUSTERMAN HAS WRITTEN AN ENTIRE SHIPLOAD OF BOOKS OMG. HE OBVIOUSLY DOES NOTHING BUT WRITE ALL DAY. #goals 😂
Definitely Maggie Stiefvater… but I’ve only read The Raven Cycle *hides in shame*… BUT THAT IS JUST HOW GOOD SHE IS! I read one series and fell head over heels in love with her writing! But I promise, I have more of her books coming up on my tbr… I only have one more library book to finish and then I will be starting Shiver!
I devour Cassandra Clare books for breakfast so I have definitely read all of hers. Multiple times. If I don’t reread them every so often I WILL STARVE! Not all of them are as fantastic as others, but I still class her as a favourite.
Also… I just put a post up over on my blog about how I have never read Percy Jackson *hides in shame once again* BUT I AM PLANNING ON FIXING THIS HORRIBLE BLACK MARK ON MY READING RECORD… you can find the post HERE if you wanted to take a wee looksy.
THIS IS SUCH EXCELLENT NEWS THAT YOU ADORE MAGGIE STIEFVATER TOO. YOU ARE MAKING GOOD LIFE DECISIONS AHHHH!!! *flails wildly* 😀 😀 And omg you reread Clare books?! That’s amazing. You are goals.😂 I want to reread them all but also there’s so many it’s a bit of a daunting prospect. But like there’s SO much interconnecting foreshadowed stuff in later books, I want to go back and catch all the beginnings of the subplots.
Yes all the interconnecting stuff is what makes me love them so much! I am planning to reread them all very soon hopefully! ALL OF THEM AND I AM VERY EXCITED! I feel like every time I pick up on a little something I overlooked previously.
BUT… I am reading The Wolves of Mercy Falls now, and I think afterwards I may have to reread The Raven Cycle. So that will postpone the epic undertaking of a Shadowhunter reread. Haha!
Ha, I didn’t even know some of those books by those authors existed? Like I thought Shades of Magic, Monsters of Verity, Unbound and Vicious were all Schwab had written, TRY AGAIN BRAIN. I know you haven’t gotten to Rainbow Rowell’s adult stuff but it really is charming. Attachments is very NA vibed and Landline is so heartwarming. They’re amazing. Also I agree that Eleanor and Park is overhyped. I actually disliked it a lot and dislike it even more now because of the problematic rep.
I actually didn’t know a whole ton of them existed until I just started writing this post.😂 I knew Schwab had middle grade fluffy ones but it just amuses me so much that they exist. I will have to read them someday just to see. 😉
Me: it’s their fault for having so many books.
Also me: WRITE MORE WRITE MORE.
#bookwormproblems.
THIS IS SO ACCURATE IT HURTS.😂😂
YOU HAVE TO READ SCYTHE!! I loved it so so much like it’s unique and full of suspense and the characters omg 😱 You’ve got to read it asap
And no I haven’t read all the books from my favorite authors either. And I don’t have excuses. 😭
I’VE GOT IT ON MY KINDLE. So really I have no excuse not to read it.😂
You’re too hard on yourself. You read most of the major works of all these authors. Good job! As for RR, her adult books are by far my favorite by her. Maybe it’s because I am older than you, but I think they are her best.
Sam @ WLABB
Bahha, it’s true! I’m trying.😂😂 I should definitely try Rainbow Rowell’s adult books sometime!
SO MANY AMAZING AUTHORS! I’ll admit, I have only read books by Rick Riordan, V.E. Schwab, Rainbow Rowell, Cassandra Clare, and Maggie Stiefvater, but they have been amazing. I’m trying to finish The Raven Cycle this summer and I am SO EXCITED to read it! I’m currently reading Lord of Shadows but I have heard some scary things about the ending and I have yet to pluck up the courage to pick it up and continue reading it. Another one for this summer!
Awesome post, Cait!
Ashtyn @ Wonderland’s Reader!
YES YES FINISH THE RAVEN CYCLE AND THEN COME FLAIL WITH ME FOREVER OVER HOW GLORIOUS IT IS OMGGGGG. *flails forever* And you need Lord of Shadows, trust me. The pain is worth it.
100% agree that breakfast is the most important because um not eating breakfast is the cause of all the problems in this world.
Also I neeeeeeed to read Patrick Ness and Cassandra Clare so bad !! I even have a Clare book but… I think it’s like the second in one of her series? So, really helpful?? But yes yes I need.
Beautiful list of beautiful authors that I’ve definitely heard of 🙂
Simi
Absolutely. Breakfast is keeping this life together. Especially if it’s MONSTROUSLY DELICIOUS.
Ahh I really hope you do try a Shadowhunter book eventually. Then you can come flail with me. EEEEP.
Well, we have Cassandra Clare in common.
When I think about it, I am pretty sure there’s some LM Montgomery works I have not read, which is shameful because she is my first response to “who is your favourite?” and she has been dead a long time, so it is not as if she is adding to the list of books…
Also, I love John Irving but there are like key books of his I haven’t read and I have no real excuse.
Margaret Atwood it is more just the new stuff I am behind on… but John Irving I haven’t read like his first big hit.
Anyway… I could totally make a top 10 list of favourites I have not read everything from…. way easier than listing favourites I have read everything from (Laura Ingalls Wilder may be it… because even Jane Austen technically has a book I’ve never read :/ )
I know right?! That’s me with Maggie Stiefvater! She’s my ultimate favourite author and I can’t believe I haven’t read The Curiosities yet. *sobs*
I love Cassandra Clare and I read both TMI and TID. But I don’t love all of her books. Sadly. But The Infernal Devices is one of my favorite series ever <3 I specially love her because she created Magnus and Alec <3 My favorite OTP. I love Rainbow Rowell. I read many of her books. Landline, Fangirl and Eleanor & park is one of my favorite books of her. Maggie Stiefvater is also one of my favorite authors. Shiver and rest of The Wolves of Mercy Falls books was my favorite books when I was younger. I still need to finish The raven cycle but read the first two books so far. Love the series so much <3<3<3 Rick Riordan is amazing in creating fantasy stories. I love Percy Jackson. Never read Patrick Ness, but heard amazing things about him. One of my favorite authors is: Markus Zusak. Only read one book of him. Ha ha. The book thief. But I love him so much. And J.K Rowling. I read the first book when I was 12, and I love her new crime series, even though I only read the first book so far.
I read the first book in the Harry Potter series when I was 12*
I mean, that’s fair right?! We don’t HAVE to love all books by an author! I’m really looking that I’m totally in love with all the Shadowhunter books. I can’t get enough.😂 <3 MAGGIE STIEFVATER IS SO AMAZING THOUGH. SHE IS THE TRUE BEST AHHHHH.
Markus Zusak is AMAZING too. But I went on to read another of his books and didn't like it at all.😂 The Book Thief was obviously just too good haha.
I call Adam Silvera one of my favourite authors and I have read only one of his books. How crazy is that? Or better said, how devoted am I, right?:)) I also feel you on the whole Patrick Ness thing. Maybe we sometimes put off reading all of the books because we`re afraid they will disappoint us? Or at least that`s what I do. Because sometimes I fall in love with a book and the next one isn`t as magical. That`s what happened with Patrick Ness. After “A Monster Calls” broke my heart, “The Rest Of Us Just Live Here” felt a bit flat.
I totally get that! I LOVED History Is All You Left Me and I haven’t read his debut yet.😂 And duuude YES. *sobs over Patrick Ness books* I need to gather emotional courage for the rest of the Knife Of Never Letting Go series. Where is duct tape that I might fix my heart.
All I was thinking while reading this post was, ‘there are books that Cait hasn’t read yet, How!’
Bahaha! YES. 😂😂So many, Skye, so many.
“Well, three books of Shusterman read, there can’t be much left — OH MY GOD DID SHUSTERMAN JUST THROW UP ALL OF THESE BOOKS???” <– basically my thought process. XDD And I have a strange relationship with Rainbow Rowell??? I picked up Eleanor and Park when I was a young smol innocent child and saw the f-word on the first page and was DAMAGED FOREVER. But I've heard good things about Fangirl and Carry On, so I'll have to check those out!
RICK RIORDAN. <3 <3 <3 I've read pretty much all of his books, except for a few short stories and that Magnus Chase little guide on Norse mythology. And the Greek Gods & Greek Heroes books. And also The Dark Prophecy. OKAY SO I HAVE A LOT TO READ. And VE Schwab!!! I've read everything but Our Dark Duet (I finished This Savage Song recently and <333), The Near Witch, and Everyday Angel. (My sister actually read Everyday Angel??? Obviously she knows a good author when there's one. EXCEPT SHE WON'T READ HARRY POTTER. *screams*)
AND I SO NEED TO READ CASSIE CLARE'S BOOKS!!! Her other series actually look more appealing to me than TMI??? NOT GOOD.
Neal Shusterman is WRITER GOALS. He’s had such a good career omg. Bahaah, but I understand about Rainbow Rowell then! Maybe try them when you’re older if you don’t like swearing? I believe there is swearing still in Fangirl/Carry On (I can’t remember because I don’t pay attention to that in books tbh).
RICK RIORDAN IS AMAZING THOUGH. His books are hysterically perfect.😂
And omg is Everyday Angel good? I’m so curious.😂
Wow, I had no idea that Shusterman had so many books either? That’s rather impressive.
I’d say that Stiefvater is a fav of mine too, but I’ve only read, like, two or three of her books. Which are life. I’d also like to say Pierce Brown is one of my favorites, but I’ve read only Red Rising. *hides in the closet for shame* How can I say an author is my favorite based on one book?
So I haven’t read Schwab yet? But I usually buy secondhand books, and who’s going to get rid of a Schwab book? Also, everyone tells me I ought to read Derek Landy, but his books are monster-sized! I just need to get over it and read one.
I KNOW RIGHT?! That dude is on fire. #WriterGoals’
ajfasdl I’m so pleased Stiefvater is your favourite though. <3 And Red Rising is AMAZING and I thought Pierce Brown was a definite favourite even just after one book!! So I don't blame you!
Honestly the only author I love that I haven’t read all of the books from is VE Schwab! Didn’t realize that until now. Some of my faves like Kasie West, Ally Carter, Evelyn Skye, and Serena Chase are a few that I’ve read all the books from. Maybe I’m just suuuuper good at reading? (haha no) It’s so weird tho! I didn’t realize it until now.

It’s good when we find like debut authors though, and then it’s like “mY FAVOURITE! I’VE READ ALL THEIR BOOKS!” and it’s like…one.😂 I love Evelyn Skye!! Did you hear about her new series?!? It sounds amazing.
TOTALLY. The very first person that comes to mind is Chuck Palahniuk. Chuck Palahniuk is absolutely, positively, without a doubt one of my favorite authors of all times and yeeetttt…..he definitely has some books I haven’t read. In my defense, he has written quite a LOT of them, but also, like you said, there’s just so many books in the world! So much to read!
I also read Unwind by Neal Schusterman and fell in love only to be flabberghasted…yes flabberghasted…by how many books he has written! It would take me forever.
Colleen Hoover and Jamie McGuire, also, Both contemporary romance authors I love but haven’t yet read everything they’ve written. Colleen Hoover has a lot of books out but I only discovered her maybe last year, and with McGuire she has a whole series and I’ve read every single except the last one which I am kind of sort of subconsciously but also consciously putting off because once I read the last book, well, then the series is over lol. I really should get on it, though…
Either way, I definitely feel your pain here. I think it’s only human to declare an author our favorite even when we haven’t yet read everything they’ve written. After all, even if we come across one or two of their books that we don’t love as much as the others, that doesn’t mean they’re not still our favorite authors!!
Sidenote: Would it motivate you more to read Landline if I told you that Cath and Levi make a cameo appearance? lol
Neal Shusterman is like INCREDIBLE!! What an amazing career. 😱 I really want to finish his Unwind series though, and also the Sycthe books!!
That’s also super true 😉 We can have a favourite author and not have read absolutely everything of theirs!
(OMG CONSIDER ME MOTIVATED TO READ LANDLINE. 😍)
Oh my god, I didn’t even know most of these EVEN EXISTED until now. I’m sure V. E. Schwab is murdering everyone who mentions those other books of hers (you’ll be next, Cait). Like…what even.
Bahaha I know right? I feel like she probably wouldn’t mind if they got buried.😂
V. E. Schwab is my absolute favourite author of ever … but I haven’t read all of her books. I also have absolutely no excuse for this either 🙂
We can sit in the corner of shame together, yes?😂😂
OMG thanks for reminding me I still need to read more Patrick Ness and VE Schwab! xD They are both amazing authors and I don’t know why I haven’t picked up all of their books yet. And I’m honestly surprised to hear you haven’t read all the Maggie Stiefvater books yet – I thought you would have by now seeing how much you love her books! Tsk tsk Cait. xD Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post! <3
YOU DO. I am here to helpfully remind you forever. :’) And I knoooow SHAME. But I mean, only The Curiosities is the real horror here. I really don’t do well with MG. 😂
*Cait Lastname* I do not forgive you for NOT READING LANDLINE.
I am done here.
I WILL READ IT EVENTUALLY I PROMISE.
This is soooo relatable. I haven’t even read all of J. R. R. Tolkien’s books and I call him my favourite author of ALL TIME. Clearly, my #priorities are wonky. But also there are a zillion books set in Middle Earth and I need the secret to immortality like RIGHT NOW?! I haven’t even read all of J. K. Rowling’s books (the Robert Galbraith ones where she sneakily thought we won’t notice it was her writing) and I call her my QUEEN. Ahem, yeah. I totally get this post on a soul-deep bookworm level.
Incidentally, I’ve not read any of the authors on here except Rick Riordan and the first 3 TMI books by Cassie Clare. I obviously need to catch up with all of the fabulous authors on here, but can someone please give me the power to bend time itself PRETTY PLEASE???
Bahah, SO much room for bookworm crises right?!😂 We can’t help it that they write more books than we can keep up with!
I love Kasie West and I have not read all of her books
I love this list! Even though I haven’t read any of the authors on this list yet (I’m a heathen) they are all on my TBR. Thinking about my own favorite authors though and their huge body of work.. Margaret Atwood, she has a ton of books but okay, doable, I’ve read a handful already and have around 5 more sitting in a pile for when I need a pick me up. But then I think about another favorite, Stephen King and his massive literary catalog and I… I couldn’t do a list like this, u_u I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to read anywhere near all of his books (though I can try!)
Oh Stephan King has SO many books! I’ve not read any by him yet but I don’t even know where to start.🙈😂 But it’s also inspiring and amazing that these writers are so prolific!
Omg Cait YOU MUST finish The Chaos Walking Trilogy! It just gets better and better ahhhhh. SO GOOD. But Manchee *sobs* I’m still traumatised haha
I WILL. BUT WILL MY FEELS SURVIVE??? I THINK NOT.
