One of the WORST things about book blogging is the waiting. Gosh. Before I blogged, I didn’t care about new releases, I didn’t even know about them. And now do you know the strife I face?! COPIOUS STRIFE, I TELL YOU. Tantalising new releases are always dangling just out of reach.
So today, I’m sharing the pain. Aren’t I nice?!
Here are some books coming out later in 2015 that I really really want in my cold clammy paws.
Now I have done a list earlier this year of 2015-releases I want. Guess how many I’ve read? EXACTLY TWO. Sheesh. Let’s see if I have better luck with this list.
This Week’s Prompt: Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases For the Rest of 2015
- UNTAMED (Splintered #3.5): BECAUSE MORPHEUS. THAT IS ALL. [DECEMBER]
- QUEEN OF SHADOWS (Throne of Glass #4): I’m more terrified than happily excited for this book. I’m not a huge fan of where SJM is taking Celaena’s character development, but hey, I’m still here for Dorian and Chaol. [SEPTEMBER]
- WINTER (Lunar Chronicles #4): Obviously. I’ve read it’s 800+ pages which I’m slightly scared about. BUT I WILL BE STRONG. [NOVEMBER]
- GO SET A WATCHMAN (To Kill a Mockingbird #2): I won’t lie, I am nervous about this one. TKAM is a classic, okay?! And since this was technically written first, it might not be the same quality as TKAM (hey, debuts rarely are) and therefore if this subpar, then people will doubt TKAM. AND IT’S ALL AN ANGSTY MESS. [JULY]
- DEMON ROAD: Derek Landy? A Supernatural-esque road trip? Wit and sarcasm and creepy killer cars? Please. Give it to me. [AUGUST]
- THE TOURNAMENT AT GORLAN: Okay. STOP EVERYTHING. John Flanagan did it. Do you know how long I’ve been whingeing for a book about Halt and Crowley in their youth?! I’m going to cry, I am so so happy right now. [OCTOBER]
- WALK ON EARTH A STRANGER: I wanted this book an average amount until I realised it was by RAE CARSON. Who, coincidentally, wrote A Girl of Fire And Thorns which is one of my newest favourite books ever. Excuse me. I need a moment. SO MUCH ANTICIPATION HERE. [SEPTEMBER]
- CARRY ON: This book mostly gives me horrible Supernatural feels*, but I do want to read it for other reasons! LIKE. Rainbow Rowell is a contemporary author and now she’s going urban fantasy?! This I want to see. [OCTOBER]
* If you are currently humming Carry On My Wayward Son you are officially my friend. CRY WITH ME.
- ILLUMINAE: Apparently it’s all written in transcripts, medical files, interviews and military files and…um…YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU. [OCTOBER]
- SOUNDLESS: I’ve never read anything by Richelle Mead, can you believe it?! But Asian inspired fantasy worlds and ziplining? This book is for me. [November]
- IT’S A WONDERFUL DEATH: Apparently Death wears a Hawaiian shirt and I need this book. [NOVEMBER]
- YOU’RE NEVER WEIRD ON THE INTERNET (ALMOST): Okay, this isn’t YA. It’s a memoir! Written by Charlie from Supernatural! Um…I mean…Felicia Day. But it’s about the internet and Felicia Day is a hilarious and wonderful human. I want this book. The end. [AUGUST]
-~-
So obviously I can’t count, but the whole top TEN part of the Tuesday is overrated, am I right?! I have too many books I want. There are over 1,000 books on my Goodreads TBR and honestly? I want to read them all. I have this intense desire just to gobble ALL THE STORIES. Stories are incredible. Cover art is my favourite. Dissolving into fantasy worlds is life.
Of course, my TBR is liable to fall on me and kill me, but that is a risk I’m willing to take. I am brave.
-~-
Obviously I need to inhale Queen of Shadows like YESTERDAY!
Apart from my blatant Sarah J. Maas fangirling I’m also super excited about Illuminae and Vengeance Road and very curious about Truthwitch (the premise just sounds awesome). The Marvels is also pretty high on my list.
And I should stop now. Like NOW. Soooooo many pretties to read!!!
OOH YES I DEFINITELY MUST SNABBLE ILLUMINAE AND IT’S A WONDERFUL DEATHHHHHHH. They both sound amazing.
Ugh, waiting sucks, doesn’t it? *glances at over-flowing TBR pile* Well, I guess I have some books to occupy me in the meantime.
I need Soundless so bad!! I am so excited for a new YA book from her. I have read all her YA stuff and her world building is awesome.
Hope you have a good day x
That new Derek Landy sounds interesting. I never managed to finish the second Skullduggery (one l or two?!?) Pleasant book – it was around the time that I hit my infamous reading slump 😉 – but I’ll definitely be checking out Demon Road and, who knows, perhaps I will eventually finish his first series too.
You didn’t know about release dates before you started book blogging?!? I’ve been writing them on my calendar (not sorry) since I finished the Lost Hero. At least, that’s the first time I remember doing it. Most of the unreleased books that I’m desperate to read – See How They Run (Embassy Row #2), Half Lost, The Raven King – have 2016 release dates :'(
I can’t wait for Felicia Day’s book! I normally don’t do memoirs, but I think she is amazing and funny and quirky and I have to read it. Have you seen her web series The Guild? It’s amazing. 😀
Also, Rainbow Rowell, Soundless, Walk on Earth a Stranger, and WINTER! I don’t even care how long Winter is, the more the merrier!
Gah, you torture me so!!!!! You make me miserable with waiting, so MISERABLE! I hope your TBR pile falls on you and squishes you (but just a little–I don’t actually want you to get hurt). I need Winter so much! Grrr. And I’m glad that it’s long even though I’m a little frightened of it because at least she’s given herself enough room to give the series a proper conclusion without rushing anything. And I am scared for Go Set a Watchman both for the reasons you listed and because WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE IT, WHAT THEN??? Anyway, I love the cover art for Illuminae. And Walk on Earth a Stranger is just a cool title all around. But seriously, I hope your TBR falls on you and squishes you only slightly.
Your list is really good! I can’t wait to read Winter and Queen Of Shadow too. I also need to start the splintered series soon because it looks like an awesome series !
I am with you on ALL OF THESE. So many awesome books, why must we wait, why can we not have them all NOW. I think I need to get my act together with The Lunar Chronicles. I read Cinder and wasn’t too fussed so I think I need a re-read because I am seeing SO MUCH LOVE for this series…
My TTT
P.s. Felicia Day’s book is currently on Netgalley just FYI 🙂
O.O I was humming “Carry On My Wayward Son” and didn’t even notice until you mentioned it. (Wat even. I’m not even in this fandom.)
All these books sound so cool! Particularly “It’s a Wonderful Death”. (I must have a morbid mind, ’cause that speaks to me.)
I am super looking forward to Carry On but a little nervous it won’t live up to what I want. And I love Rainbow Rowell so If I don’t like it I will cry. I have your exact feelings on Go Set a Watchman. Great picks!
Fantastic choices Cait…. so much book yumminess there!
My TTT – Thea @ Gizzimomo’s Book Shelf
I don’t really do the entire top ten Tuesday thing, but I AM ridiculously excited for Walk on Earth a STranger and Illuminae and Queen of Shadows and Winter. I’ve read a lot of 2015 releases this year (thanks, library) and most of them lived up to expectations. But I really disliked the Shadow Cabinet. Mostly I just want to read Winter though. (Is it just me, or does the cover seem a lot brighter than the other books?)
Girl, I totally feel you on the strife of having to wait for new releases. Oh, if I could go back to those days where I didn’t have to wait sooo long for these pretty shiny new books simply because I didn’t know about new releases…
Okay, so I had no clue that Winter was 800 pages?? That is LONG, but I am ridiculously excited to see how things end up for everyone!! Based on the sneak peeks, this book might be the bets one of the series. I’m also kinda nervous for Go Set a Watchman, simply because To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the only classics that I have honestly loved. I need Walk On Earth a Stranger like, yesterday. Haven’t read anything by Rae Carson but that synopsis and cover?! *dies* I’ve heard only great things about Illuminae, so I’m super excited for that one as well.
You’ve got some amazing picks on this list, Cait! I hope they all turn out to be absolutely stunning. <33
It’s a Wonderful Death just sounds so great. I need it.
I am so curious what the response to Carry On will be in October. I’m not much of a contemporary reader and Fangirl didn’t quite gell with me, but like you said that she is writing a fantasy now is just interesting. And no, I’m not crying with you. Nope, not at all.
I didn’t know that Felicia Day is writing a book. I want that one. As a fellow Supernatural fan I cant wait to read the book. Demon Road sounds fantastic. I have seen ILLUMINAE in so many BEA book hauls on Youtube. The book has me intrigued.
Aaah, Soundless! There are so many books that I need to read, but I just… don’t ever have enough time. *turns away in shame* Anyway, I’m super excited for Six of Crows, Legacy of Kings, and so many others I can’t even remember right now!
I feel you with Carry On!
Great list!
We have several of the same ones and the wait for Queen of Shadows, Winter, and Illuminae WILL kill me. I haven’t read anything by Richelle Mead, but her newest book actually sounds really good!
OOOH NEW SPLINTERED BOOK. EXCITING. Love the cover!!
Yeah, I’m pretty wary of Go Set A Watchman, too. Although I do love that cover.
Olivia @ Fluttering Pages
something just stepped on my chest and i can’t breathe but JOHN FLANAGAN IS RELEASING ANOTHER RA BOOK????? THIS IS WHY I FOLLOW YOUR BLOG CAIT BECAUSE YOU INFORM ME OF THE IMPORTANT THINGS I NEED TO KNOW IN LIFE gerogerhghgghohgerobhoghequgje
also Untamed aaaahgrheioghergroeih hap *grabby hands* (i actually still haven’t read Ensnared yet because I’m trying to read all the books on my on bookshelf that I haven’t yet…. augh it’s so hard to stay away from the library XD)
Demon Road, yes yes yes, I am excited A LOT for that book, but my expectations, WHAT IF THEY RUIN IT?! I can’t handle the wait. Winter, yes, I am excited also, as am I excited over wary over Queen of Shadows.. Heir of Fire is still unread on my shelf and I LOVED CoM, so I’m scared. GREAT LIST THOUGH. Ten is not enough.<3
Agreed that counting when it comes to book lists is not the most important thing! I also want to read Winter. 800 pages? Well . . . sounds like Christmas break reading. Walk on Earth a Stranger going on my TBR list.
ACK! How could I have forgotten about Untamed? I might have to go back and add an eleventh to my list. Both Winter and Carry On where on my list, as well. It will be super interesting to see how Rainbow Rowell handles Carry On.
….800+ pages?! I just checked GR and you’re right! 824 pages o_O….. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still will read it cause it’s AWESOME!
And don’t even get me started on Queen of Shadows (currently trying to contain the fangirling (currently failing to contain the fangirling)).
And I feel the same exact way about Walk on Earth A Stranger. It sounded intriguing I guess, but I wasn’t LSKDFJOIWJEFLSKDF. But knowing it’s Rae freaking Carson?! NEED NOW PLEASE!
Soundless sounds kind of….odd to me, yet also intriguing. I think I’ll let others read it first before checking it out.
Illuminae just got put on my radar because of all the buzz at BEA and I can’t believe I hadn’t found out about this sooner!! This book could either be incredibly awesome because of how it’s written or fall completely flat. Let’s hope it’s the first option.
Awesome list! So many books, so little time. The struggle is real….
IT’S A WONDERFUL DEATH. This book. I was bummed when I heard the original publisher withdrew from releasing this but thank the book gods somebody picked this up BECAUSE I NEED THIS. From the premise alone, it already sounds so snarky and sassy – two qualities I adore in a book!
And I’ve already read like a few of my most anticipated 2015 titles, so it was a bit hard compiling today’s list. XD
I LITERALLY WANT ALL OF THESE. Can’t I just, like, hop into the future and read them all!? I especially want Illuminae and Soundless though BECAUSE THEY SOUND EPIC.
I’m so excited for Carry On – as in every time I think about it too much I start hyperventilating.. Rainbow Rowell’s my favourite author, and although it’s Urban Fantasy (which I can’t stand), IT’S SIMON SNOW – she knows how to write a book.
Winter is going to be ridiculously good, but SO long. I’d rather have two books than a massive one like this, because the daunting size of 800 pages will make me just want to rush through instead of enjoying every word.
Apart from those, I’m really looking forward to The White Rose by Amy Ewing. The Jewel was one of my favourite books of last year and I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
Go Set a Watchman and Carry On! I’m slightly uncomfortable with GSAW but for different reasons. It’s about the news regarding its publication. Coz I don’t think it’ll change how I feel about TKAM BUT your point is so legit! What if the future gen read it BEFORE TKAM and weren’t impressed? Blimey! What a bunch of pessimists we are!
I can tell you what I’m really, maybe, definitely, super, oh so, absolutely crazy excited about but I’m guessing you know what it is. (But in case I presume too much and you didn’t know Winger has a sequel, it is THAT.)
Posts like these make me a drool a little. So many tempting new titles . . . I want them all. Can I read them all, please? If only. I’m excited about Winter, although I haven’t read any of the Lunar Chronicles yet. After listening to Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, I am eager to read (or listen to) everything else the author has written and so her new one appeals to me too. Soundless sounds really good too . . .
Thank you for sharing (and adding to my wish list).
I am so excited for Go Set a Watchmen and Soundless! Although there is a lot of hype surrounding Soundless. I’m a little nervous, because what if it’s not good? Is it a stand-a-lone? Because the first VA book wasn’t the greatest either.. . .
I haven’t started the Splintered series but I totally want to.
Great picks! I can’t wait for Soundless, Carry On and the new Harper Lee — it’s going to be a good rest of the year!
Thanks for stopping by My TTT!
I want Winter so badly! If it’s really 800 pages I would absolutely love it! Normally that WOULD freak me out, but for this series, I want nothing more than lots and lots of pages.
I’m still woefully behind on the SJM books. As in I started reading Crown of Midnight then I didn’t have time to finish *hangs head in shame*.
Never heard of most of these books but I’m sold on the hopefully-brightly-atrocious-Hawaiian-shirt-Death-will-be-sporting book.
Soundless, Carry On, Queen of Shadows, AHHH! I have to have all of these, this very second. Maybe I can procure some minions myself and force them to steal it for me. In a race to the death. I will award them my everlasting gratitude.
The number of books left to come out this year is almost overwhelming, especially since sooo many of them sound so good! Obviously Queen of Shadows is the one I will read on my Kindle at midnight the day it’s released, but I’m also really looking forward to Go Set a Watchman. I know there was a bit of controversy over whether or not it should be published, but I’m really excited to get my hands on it.
And 10 is totally overrated…. I made myself stick to 10, but I keep coming across books on other Top Ten Tuesday posts that really should have made it onto mine. Oh, well!
I feel the same about Go Set A Watchman- I’m more than likely going to read it but I’m stuck on the fact that this was written first. I’m super excited for Queen of Shadows & Winter (though I haven’t read Fairest yet, I’m trying to hold off on that until closer to Winter’s release).
Fairest has a few chapters of Winter in the back and I usually try not to read sneak-peek chapters, but AFDKLSA I COULDN’T RESIST AND IT MADE MY LONGING WAITING WORSE. XD
YES TO ALL OF THESE.
On one hand, I want Winter so badly, but on the other I don’t because that will mean admitting the series is over. *cries* And yes to Queen of Shadows – Sarah J. Maas obviously can do no wrong; so I’m hoping this is just as good as her previous books.
And OMG you are going to freaking love Illuminae. I just finished it a few days ago and I still can’t get it out of my head. It’s so unique and original and I’m practically positive you’re going to love this one.
Lovely choices Cait!
WHAT?! YOU’VE READ ILLUMINAE?! OKAY. THAT’S IT. I’M GETTING THE PRIVATE JET AND COMING TO YOUR COUNTRY TO STEAL IT AND READ IT AND FANGIRL WITH YOU. I MUST. XDXD
Did you hear Marissa Meyer is publishing a collection of short stories after Winter?!!! I’M SO EXCITED!!
I swear that Illuminae has been on EVERY. SINGLE. TTT list I’ve read today, but I STILL don’t know what it’s about. People are clearly very excited for it though. Speaking of being excited, I CAN’T WAIT for Queen of Shadows (especially now that I’ve read the other books in the series), Winter and Carry On. Eeeep!!
Beth x
Know what it’s about?! BAH. Who needs details like that. I want to read it because a) it’s pretty, b) I like those authors, and c) they’re both AUSSIES WOOT WOOT, and d) it’s sci fi.
Carry On and Soundless are on my list too! Excitment 🙂 I really need to start the Lunar Chronicles series – and the Throne of Glass series! I’m so behind! I’d not heard of It’s a Wonderful Death before, but… now, pretty please? With a cherry on top?
MY FEELINGS EXACTLY. Ohh, you haven’t tried ToG or Lunar chronicles?! OKAY, JO. YOU HAVE TO READ THEM. I WILL GIVE YOU CAKE IF YOU READ THEM.
Haha! Seeing as I don’t like cake, that’s not much of an incentive… 😛 But I will give them a go, I promise!
WINTER. GIVE IT TO ME NOW PLEASE.
*ahem* I mean, that does look like a lot of pages, but depending on my dedication to sleep it might be a close fight between consuming it all in a day or spacing it out a bit more. I can’t wait to read it, and I am literally too excited <3
I also think Six of Crows and Soundless sound like some great books I would love to have in the future!
Check out my recent review: http://olivia-savannah.blogspot.nl/2015/06/prince-charming-must-die-review.html
I reeeally want to read Six of Crows! I haven’t read Rise and Ruin too, but erghhh my library doesn’t have it and I have to wait to buy it SO YEAH. I love Leigh Bardugo though. :’)
I forgot to put Go tell a watchman, I am excited but nervous for it. illuminate I have seen it this last as a lot of people got it at BEA. I think it looks cool!
I haven’t heard any Illuminae reviews yet but ZOMG I CANNOT WAIT TILL THEY START. I want to know if it’s as good as it looks.
Whoaaaa Soundless sounds amazing! I just love ziplines a lot and never predicted I would a book combining fantasy with them, so thanks for putting it on my radar.
YAY!! I’m so glad you’re excited for it now too!!
Love your list.
And That you added Tony Stark into the mix, just gave you bonus points. Every good blog post needs a bit of him. Just saying. 😉
But i keep looking at “illuminae” and want to read it and keep thinking that this book can either be really fantastic and the best thing that i read the year that i read it, or the most horrible book that was published, which made me not add it to my own list.
Oh and by the way, so thankful that there are other people just as weird as me that see a book title and connect it to a song -aka: Carry on.
I completely concur. Life is ALWAYS better with Tony Stark. *nods* Ahh, yes, I see loads of potential for Illumanea to be a flop too, but, tbh, I think both those authors are super professional and talented so I TRUST THEM. xD I love sci-fi too, and I don’t think nearly enough gets published!!
You are right about the sci-fi and about the two authors that write Illumanea.
I really hope that they did this book right, because then it can be fantastic and wonderful and as i said one of the best books of the year. I could use a good sci-fi since it has been quite a while since i had my hands on a good one, let alone a fantastic one.
Lets just hope and wait, since well… we don’t really have another option, now do we? 😉 We can’t all be a Stark and buy what we want, when we want it. or ask Jarvis to get it.
WE ALL NEED A JARVIS. I mean it’s 2015, already, why isn’t Jarvis availably to all yet?!!
Right? How is it that we at least don’t have some kind of JARVIS App of some kind that talks snakily to us in British when we ask something or mutter to ourselves?
It should really exist already. It is kind of sad how little we actually have today from what was envisioned from the year 2015 years ago.
But I am glad to hear that i am not the only one that wants a JARVIS. 😉
Those are some really great choices! I’m terrified for Queen Of Shadows as well. I haven’t read Heir of Fire yet, but I’ve heard generally good things about it. I mean, Crown of Midnight (which I just finished reading) pretty much shattered me into a million pieces, so I can’t imagine what Sarah J Maas is planning with over 600 pages…
Also Winter!! Yay! And it’s so long too! I might need a crane to pick it up for me! (I’m so weak, hehe.) I also thought that Illuminae looked awesome! And that Demon Road cover is really spooking me out… but it looks really interesting!
I am STILL not okay after Crown of Midnight. It goes down as one of the most life-shattering-heart-stomping-feels-crunching books I’ve ever read and cried over.
SEE? I’M STILL TRAUMATISED.
Helloooooooo!
OMG I’M SO EXCITED FOR CARRY ON ASDFGHJKL!
(Fangirling aside) Yet another great post from The Overlord! 😛 A lot of these covers are sooo pretty; I love pretty covers!
Also, I DID IT AGAIN ARE YOU PROUD? – https://hufflepuffthoughts.wordpress.com/2015/06/09/top-ten-most-anticipated-books-for-2015/
(I may just be a bit hyper…)
Elly x
YAAAAY YOU DID IT AGAIN!! Did it work well for you last time too?! I HOPE SO. I shall read yours asap. xD
Sadly, I haven’t managed to get 10 either of the times that I have done it, but maybe next time?
Ooh, can we talk about why you’re not a fan of where Sarah J. Maas is taking Celaena’s character development? I’m very curious. Personally, I’m worried about the name change in book 4. I understand why she’s doing it, but I still think it’s confusing. And I have no idea how to pronounce “Aelin.”
I’ve read 31 2015 releases so far and I have 50 left (that number seems to grow, not shrink). Eek! I’m really looking forward to Tower of Thorns, Juliet Marillier’s latest book. Have you read anything by her? I also can’t wait for The Boy Most Likely To, because I read and enjoyed My Life Next Door earlier this year.
*whispers* I’m pretty sure I go ALIEN and I’m pretty sure that’s not right. But I’m awful. I didn’t even realise Chaol was pronouced Kale until, um, forever. I was say CH-ay-el. HAHAAH A OMG CAIT YOU ARE SO BAD AT THIS.
Ahem.
But yes. Oh, I don’t know. Like I feel like I want to reread them, tbh, because I adored Celaena in the first two (plus the prequels) books and then I felt sort of disconnected with her after that. Like how she’s sort of super selfish now? And doesn’t think about Dorian OR Chaol at all. Okay, fine, not as lovers — but what about as friends? It’s all about CELAENA in Heir of Fire. I do struggle with that. 😐
Noooo! I Haven’t heard of Juliet Marillier before! and I haven’t read My Life Next Door either. ARGH. I AM BEHIND. I’ve been trying to read more, like, older series this year. But trying to catch up is going to end up with 2016 being full of books I haven’t read too. I CANNOT WIN.
Hahaha now I’m going to start calling her “Alien.” I didn’t realize Chaol was “Kale” either, and SERIOUSLY, SARAH J. MAAS? Out of all the food she could have named him after, she had to go with KALE? It’s making me question her judgment, tbh.
Really? I feel like she’s always been pretty self-centered. I just did an audio re-read of the first one, and I’m hoping to fit in the other two before Queen of Shadows. Maybe I’m the black sheep in that Celaena has never been my favorite part of the series. Heir of Fire was the first book that I truly LOVED (as opposed to really liked), and I think it’s because there was so much going on BESIDES Celaena. Or maybe I’m just in love with Rowan. 😉 I agree that she doesn’t think about Dorian or Chaol in Heir of Fire, but I don’t know if she ever really did. We should both re-read and pay more attention now that we’ve told each other our quibbles. (Did I really just use that word?!)
If there’s one book I recommend more than any other, it’s Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier. It’s a bigger book, but it is so heart-breakingly beautiful. Besides, the author lives in Australia, so you know she has good taste. I’ll limit my book-pushing to saying please, please do yourself a favor and read this book. 😀
Ah. YES. I think you’re right. Celeana always has been “ME FIRST” so I don’t know why I’m whingeing here. I guess maybe the book focused less on the Dorian/Chaol…and I missed that too much because I’d really grown to love them over the last two books. AND LET’S BE REAL. I’M NOT HAPPY WITH THE PLOT TWIST AT THE END OF CROWN OF MIDNIGHT. *cries forever* We should totally just reread nad use the word quibble A LOT because it’s an excellent word.
OKAY I’M GOING TO READ IT. My library totally has it and I’m going to snabble it next time I’m in. XD I TRUST YOU.
I missed Dorian and Chaol, too. They were such a big part of the first two, so it was weird suddenly not having them around. Chaol was present even less than Dorian! Their story lines helped to balance out Celaena’s self-obsession, but without them, there were just stretches of pages that were ME ME ME. Quibble is a rather lovely word, isn’t it? (I was NOT expecting, that to happen in CoM, but now I don’t trust Sarah J. Maas with any of her characters.)
YAY YAY YAY I hope you aren’t disappointed. Just remember that I warned you it will hurt. 🙂
I’m super excited for Rick Riordan’s new series that comes out in October (I think). It’s about Viking Mythology. So my goal right now is to finish the Heroes of Olympus series, so I can be ready for when that comes out.
I plan on reading the Lunar Chronicles as well, so hopefully I can gobble up the first three books before the next one comes out. That’s a pretty big goal as I’m a pretty slow with books, but hey! its good to have a goal right?
OMG I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS NEW RIORDAN SERIES. *flails* I’ve only got Blood of Olympus to go and then I’m finished all the PErcy Jacksons! Bittersweet feeling. I do love them so much. :’)
That is an EXCELLENT goal. I approve of your life decisions right there.
I LOVE Fangirl. I love Cath and her introversion and fanfiction writing and Levi and his flaws and adorableness and just EVERYTHING …but I really don’t understand how Carry On is a thing. I thought the point of Simon Snow was that it’s a stand in for Harry Potter, so I was already confused when Harry Potter was mentioned along with Simon Snow. It just kind of made the success of Simon Snow very doubtful. And I didn’t like the excerpts enough to want to read it as a book. I did love Fangirl and I’m in favor of ridiculously stubborn boys who (pretend to) hate each other falling in love, but I JUST DON’T KNOW HOW TO FEEL ABOUT THIS.
I’m looking forward to Passenger by Alexandra Bracken, because I loved The Darkest Minds, and I share your feelings on the Mockingbird sequel and the struggle of book blogging. It happens SO OFTEN that I go to order a book I’ve seen around on every site ever and then realize everyone’s been reading ARCs, and the book won’t be out for another year.
Well, that’s what I thought too…that it was supposed to be a Harry Potter reference, but MAYBE NOT, I GUESS??? I’m keen to see how she does it. Tbh, those parts weren’t my favourite in Fangirl because I was really focused on Cath. But I think if the BOOK is focused on Simon/Baz then I’ll be happy. *nods*
I WANT PASSENGER TOO. Although I haven’t read Darkest Minds yet!! ARGHHH. I want it but my library has shelved it as adult and I’m spending my life trying to catch it when it’s on the shelf so I don’t have to pay a reservation fee. -_-
Winter is over 800 pages? I’M NOT READY.
I’M NOT READY FOR IT TO BE OVER.
ASDFGHJKL WINTERRRRRRRRRRRRR I seriously cannot wait for that book. Especially since Winter seems a little crazy and silly, which’ll be interesting. Is Untamed winter themed? The cover is so pretty! I’m super nervous about Go Set a Watchman, too, and what it’ll be like. Eep. CARRY ON ASDFGHJKL I am having so many fangirly feelings about this book because it’s basically a companion to Fangirl and ohmigosh ahhhhhhh! Walk On Earth a Stranger seems soooo good! Oooh, Illuminae seems super cool in the formatting and It’s A Wonderful Death seems hilarious!
PS- by the way, hi. I only stalked your blog via email until now until it occurred to me I should quite possibly comment. *waves*
I think Untamed is wedding themed?! OR IT COULD BE WINTER. I assumed wedding for some reason, lol, but it would be freakishly (!!) cool if it was a winter Wonderland. HAR HAR. Omg. X’D I’m just so excited.
*waves back* HELLO, EVI!! It’s nice to officially *meet* you, too!!
Oooh, a wedding theme would be so cool!!!!!!!! MORPHEUS AND ALYSSA’S WEDDING ASDFGHJKL “Winter Wonderland”? 😀 Well, you took the opportunity. 😛
SNABBLE. Oh my god, I’m going to use this word FOREVER.
Hem. Very nice picks. I must have this Hawaiian shirt death book! I need it or I will die!
C.J.
Sarcasm & Lemons
EVERYONE SHOULD USE WORDS LIKE SNABBLE. THE WORLD WILL BE A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE OF IT.
Of course I put Queen of Shadows on mine. But I’ve also got a few of these on my TBR that weren’t on my list. Go Set a Watchman, Walk on Earth a Stranger (I have an eARC of this so I didn’t put it on my list), Illuminae, and Soundless (I’m nervous about this one tbh). I hope you enjoy all these, thank you for stopping by my blog!

Ooh….I hope you enjoy WoEaS then!! LUCKY YOU. XD I don’t think it’s being published in Australia so I shall have to wait anxiously for release dates. xD Really?! Soundless makes you nervous? I really don’t have anything to compare it off since I haven’t tried Richelle Mead before but if she’s a bestseller, weeeell I’M EXCITED AND MOSTLY CALM.
Mead is one of my favorite authors and so far a few of my friends who have read Soundless haven’t really liked it. But I have liked all her other books, hence me being nervous! I’m excited too but nervous!
Oh my gosh, they didn’t like it?! CONSIDER ME OFFICIALLY NERVOUS TOO> XD
So. A WONDERFUL DEATH? What? Is this like a FUN version of The Book Thief? You’ve clearly got me interested. Also, I wonder how Carry On will turn out, because it’s the fanfic of Cath in Fangirl, and IT WILL BE INTERESTING. And I will read it. Probably preorder it or something.
HA. I have no idea. Could it be possible to have a fun version of TBT?! WE MUST FIND OUT.
YESSS QUEEN OF SHADOWS AND WINTER. Those are the books that I’ll be buying the morning they come out and taking the whole day off work to read the entire things.
I’ve never read anything by Rae Carson, but Walk on Earth a Stranger looks FABULOUS. I do love historical fiction nowadays 😀
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS TO DO WHEN QUEEN OF SHADOWS AND WINTER COMES OUT. Like, seriously, there should be nationwide holidays to coincide with book release days. Someone make it happen.
Queen of Shadows. Winter. Walk on Earth a Stranger. Illuminae. Soundless. Yaaaaaaas. I can’t wait! I haven’t heard of It’s a Wonderful Death, though. But now I’m really curious! (Hello, Goodreads 2015 releases shelf!) And there are two books I was madly anticipating this year that I’ve read: The Sin Eater’s Daughter (you know my opinion on that) and Red Queen (which I did like for the most part, even though I had a bunch of problems with it). Also, side note, I really need to get on that A. G. Howard bandwagon… Because I’m pretty sure I’d love those books…
I feel so torn about Red Queen! Like I thought it was okay, but like you I had a lot of problems with it. >_> GAH. Rating books is not simple for me anymore for some reason. I have too many complicated thoughts !!
I’m with you on the 1,000+ tbr books. I really need to purge that list. I put basically any book that sounds remotely interesting.
Felicia Day wrote a book!? Whaaa………….
It’s a Wonderful Death sounds like a book I’m planning to read. I would be terrified to relive my past and mess it up so much. I’d probably be fine though although I feel lie I would have ended up a delinquent if I spoke up for myself. But it would be worth it.
I totally can’t help myself! I See a book and and…I jUST HAVE TO ADD IT. It doesn’t help that I secretly want to read all the books of ever. Gah. I do not have enough lifetimes.
Yes yes yes for so many of these! I need Winter (not the season because it totally sucks right now), Queen of Shadows, Illuminae and Soundless! I can’t wait until I can hold them in my arms and stare at them on my shelf. *drools*
Ugh. I agree. so over winter right now. -_- Plus it’s raining where I am so cold + wet = cranky Cait. BUT LOOKING AT PRETTY BOOKS DOES CHEER ME UP.
QUEEN OF SHADOWS! GIVE IT TO ME NOOOOOOOW!!!!!
When I was getting caught up on the series last Christmas break, I knew that I was coming to the end of Crown of Midnight, so I gave my sister some money and made her go out and buy me Heir of Fire, so I could start right into it when I finished COM. (She was really lovely about it, and as a fellow bookworm she understood my obsession). I didn’t even mind forking out the twenty-some-odd-dollars for the brand new hardcover.
I have a feeling that my experience with Queen of Shadows will be very much the same, haha.
I NEED IT TOO. BUT I’M DREADING IT BECAUSE THERE IS SURE TO BE AN AWFUL CLIFFHANGER. ERK. HOW CAN I CONTINUALLYHANDLE THIS SARAH J MAAS SHAPED STRESS IN MY LIFE, SUNNY? HELP.
I am highly anticipating both Winter and Go Set a Watchman. I’m actually happy that Winter is so long because it has been so enjoyable reading The Lunar Chronicles that a long book seems the perfect way to end it. It prolongs the goodbye, if you know what I mean. Of course, Go Set a Watchman is my most highly anticipated book because Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book. I’m a little nervous about it, but I’m mostly overjoyed that I will get to experience another novel by Harper Lee. I want to preorder it and then read it the second it arrives on my doorstep. That would be awesome.
It’s true! I don’t think I’ll be complaining about a single page when Winter is in my hands. XD Except…well…I’ll probably be whining about sore hands from holding the monstrosity. XD HAHA. TKAM is like the sole classic I’m actually passionate about (okay, apart from Alice in Wonderland, but that’s like fairy tale stuff. TKAM is serious classicness) I mean, my dog’s name is Atticus! But I’m nervous, ohhhh, very nervous.
Winter and Go Set a Watchman are definitely on my list… I can’t wait to read them! (Oh, oh, and the new short stories collection Marissa Meyer will be releasing as well! GIVE IT TO MEEEEEE.)
I literally only JUST heard about that short story collection and fajkdlsa I’m so excited for it!!! I NEED A COVER THOUGH. LIKE ASAP.
Gah, I just love the covers for A G Howards books. They are just so beautiful. Walk on Earth a Stranger and It’s a Wonderful Death sound awesome so I will have to go check them out right now!
Great List, Happy Reading

I follow the artist who makes them on instagram and ohh my gosh, she is INCREDIBLE. I love her art. SO MUCH.
Wait, John Flanagan actually wrote a prequel? Excuse me while I go freak out with excitement.
Also super excited for Winter (800 pages? Yay!)
EXACTLY. I have literally been silently BEGGING for a Crowley/Halt book forever, and and and HERE IT IS!! *flails*
I’m so excited for Queen of Shadows, Winter and Carry On! This year has flown by, but yet it’s also going so slow when it comes to new book releases haha
I know right?! How does that even work. But it’s so true…
Don’t you cry no more, Cait. Ah, I love Kansas…
Winter needs to hurry up and just get here already. As does Walk on Earth a Stranger. I am getting impatient.
I WILL CRY. NOTHING CAN STOP ME CRYING OVER THAT SHOW. I HATE THAT SHOW. BUT I LOVE IT. I HATE THAT I LOVE IT. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?
Ohhhh Carry On!! How’d I forget that one!! Ugh!! >.< I shall hang my head in shame now…
YES. SHAME ON YOU. XD I’m so so excited to see what Rainbow Rowell does with it!!
I am so ready for Queen of Shadows but I understand the terrified feeling! I also had Demon Road on my list, it sounds so great!
Derek Landy is so so hilarious. IT WILL BE PERFECT.
I completely agree!
How did I not even know that Untamed was a thing? Need it!!
IT IS A GLORIOUS THING. I’m basically dying for it. XD
My wishlist is now so much heavier, but NO REGRETS. These all sound really freaking amazing (especially Soundless? Asian fantasy? Ziplining? Also: RAE CARSON).
Waiting is hard D:
GAH, HOW did I forget to include It’s a Wonderful Death on my list!? I wonder if I have it shelved properly, this could be the problem. I need it too! Walk on Earth and Stranger, Illuminae, Soundless… my head is nodding in agreement with each of these! And Queen of Shadows, of COURSE! I may just pre order it, I really don’t know what I am waiting for at this point, it’s kind of ridiculous.
Sooo. I went back and looked at my “Highly Anticipated 2015” list. No surprise that I also did more than 10 that time too. Only 12 though, I don’t know HOW many I did this time. So out of 12 I read…. 8!?!? WHOA, I never do that well! Well, look, my time here on your lovely blog has made me proud of myself! Thanks for the self-esteem boost, Cait 😀
I’m excited about Legacy of Kings because it’s an Alexander the Great retellng and I’m from Macedonia so obviously I want to read that book. You always find a way to twist the memes to your liking and I love you for it. Also, I need Illuminae like yesterday *sigh*
OHHH I LOVE RETELLINGS. I think I have that one added but I forgot it was a Alexander the Great retelling and now I want it even more badly. XD So many good books are coming!!
800 pages sounds awesome to me! It’s like 2 book in one, haha. 😀 Illuminae sounds so different and cool, I’m also looking forward to that one. 🙂
OMG YES!! I didn’t think of it like that, but totally true. XD TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. lol
See, this is why I follow your blog. I didn’t know about the Felicia Day memoir OR the new A. G. Howard book.
Of course, my TBR is now heavier and that’s all your fault. ALL YOUR FAULT.
Love this list! Winter and Go Set A Watchman made my list too. I am BEYOND EXCITED for Winter!!! Like seriously, I cannot wait!!!
There are some books on your list that I can’t wait to get my hands on either. I absolutely can’t wait for Queen of Shadows. I love Sarah J. Maas. I’m really excited about Walk On Earth A Stranger. I’m also looking forward to Soundless and Illuminae. There are too many books coming out that I want too.
SARAH J MAAS IS QUEEN OF WRITING AND I LOVE HER BOOKS SO MUCH. :’) She’ll probably make me cry, but, meh. These things happen. We bookworms must suffer pain. IT IS SO.
I’m all for Death in a Hawaiian shirt, but… well I love Death from The Book Thief so dreadfully. Will any other version ever get me like that one did? Maybe not. Does that mean I should rebuke them all? Hardly.
And oh. I didn’t know Felicia was putting out a novel! Must look into this.
Yes to Untamed and Illiminae. I do have Illuminae from NetG, but as of right now it doesn’t download to Kindle. It archives in October, so I am hopping it will become Kindle downloadable (it has happened with some other titles). I am also iffy on the Harper Lee book, seems strange that this story was written before TKaM, but is about what happens to the characters after TKaM. Plus, she was adamant that TKaM was the ONLY book she evet wrote. I am going tryo wait and see what scholars specializing in language use have to say about whether they think it was written by Lee, or not. I am excited to read Of Delicate Pieces, the sequel to Of Breakable Things, but there seems to be some mystery about what is going on with the book. There was supposed to be a cover reveal in April and a release in May, but it is June and not even a cover has shown up. :/
