Hiiii remember me?! Because I barely blogged in August!
I actually TOOK that hiatus. I took it by the throat, ok, and I rested gloriously and…um neglected my blog for 3 weeks. But I think this is the first long(ish) hiatus I’ve taken in about 3 years so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I shan’t apologise. I do confess I’ve found blogging exhausting lately, but I’ve found LIFE exhausting. I’m not quitting! I am just returning to sit next to you, share my popcorn, and whinge to be honest.
Missed me?
I KNOW SO.
Before we go on, I’m planning on doing a “Spoiler Q&A” about A Thousand Perfect Notes!
Which will be your chance (if you’ve read it!) to ask all the questions that are too spoilery to answer in the open. MWHA HAHA. So here’s a link to a Google Form here. It’s anonymous (but you can leave your name if you want). I am so excited to do this ahhhh!!
GUESS WHO FINALLY ACHIEVED THEIR LIFE GOAL!??
Now don’t laugh but my life goal was always, specifically: “walk into a bookstore and see my book on a shelf.” And I have finally done it! While I was visiting my sister for 2 weeks, we haunted the bookshop. This is extra cool because (a) this was in Lismore, aka the place ATPN is actually set in, and (b) it was my hometown up until last year so !!! I was just so excited. I can’t even say how it feels to go into a store and hey bAM THERE’S YOUR NAME.
YOUR BOOK.
ON A SHELF.
If you’re wondering why it took nearly 3 months post-publication for me to do this, then…ahhh. Ok. Two reasons: (1) I currently live in a very small town which is basically a cow paddock and NO real bookstore. And (2) I have really severe social anxiety and sometimes going out is too much. I’m relieved I could even do this finally. No I didn’t ask to sign any. I slipped in and out, but I saw it and that is everything for me. I am all the emotions right now ajfkdslad. (Also only 3 left on the shelf and OBVIOUS GAPS !! So people are buying it hOLY WOW this still shocks me.)
Also I’m slightly biased but…HOW FREAKING EYE-CATCHING IS MY COVER THO.
Also I know I look twelve but…I promise I am not twelve.
- Another author I super admire has actually read my book. *DIES*
- Also 10/10 I love her books and honestly they’re quite similar to mine in themes and tone, so I totally recommend them!!
- ATPN is at 1,000 ratings on Goodreads which is just !!!
- It still just always feels so surreal thinking about it being a real book?! IDK IT HASN’T SUNK IN YET.
- It was featured in Duality Box! They made me fanart. I’m sobbbbbing. FANART.
- I also have more copies of my book than I know what to do with lmao. But I’m going to do some giveaways on Twitter and Instagram soon, so make sure you’re stalking me there.
- Also can I beg for some reviews on Amazon?! ATPN has nearly been out 3 months and but I’ve got barely 40 on Amazon. It would REALLY help me for the search engines and recommendation listings to get some more ratings there!! Good reviews! Bad! Middling mehs! GO FOR IT. Can just be just a few sentences! My book is actually not super big and not available everywhere (unfortunately) so your support means everything…truly it does. Thank yooooou.
I read 18 books…even though I was away! POWER.
I read really intensely the first 10 days of the month and pretty much finished a book a day! It felt really good. I haven’t done that for ages. Like I went from “I should procrastinate for no reason!” to “PUT A BOOK IN FRONT OF MY FACE AND I WILL DEVOUR THEM AND THE SUN AND YOUR GOATS AND RISE GLORIOUS UPON THE DAWN.”
So in other news: I have actually been in a lowkey book slump most of this year and didn’t notice. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway! I hopefully I keep up the motivation and actually don’t !!! die !! under 14989 books !!
#laughshysterically
BOOKS BOUGHT vs REVIEW COPIES
Ok so LIBRARY SALE!! I got most of these hardcovers for 50 cents?!? Holy wow. And Sometime After Midnight was a preorder + Heretics Anonymous was all Book Depository’s fault because I was VULNERABLE after some crappy news and they sent me 10% off so like???? I tREAT MYSELF.
Thanks to Entangled Teen for Keeper Of The Bees (SO GORGEOUS) and this edition of Grace & Fury came from an @Owlcrate box! (Sooo recommend their boxes! I actually have a rep code for “FURY” = 10% off too.) I won Save The Date from @bookbookowl! And The Universe Is Expanding And So Am I + Open Summer Road are thanks to Bloomsbury.
AND OK NOBODY PANIC BUT SOMEHOW THE ARC GODS HAVE BLESSED ME AND I HAVE BRIDGE OF CLAY?!?!? Ahhh!!!!!!!!

I actually spent most of August away visiting my sister and nieces and nephews!
You probably remember me mildly panicking about this last month (LIES. I WAS SCREAMING) because, ya know…plane flight alone. And I also struggle being out of routine. But I used to live 5 mins away from these little banshees and I miss them so much. So it was good! Everything went well! I DIDN’T CRASH IN THE PLANE.
I also attacked and devoured her library.
Holy heck, every time I walk into a library I remember how much I am starved for it while I’m at home (yES: no bookstore, no library…I can’t even).
I didn’t get through quite ALL the books I borrowed (hey it was only nine…I was being chill) because it turns out after being climbed over all day by small children, I just wanted to sLEEEEEEP at night. (Plus one night we watched the Netflix To All The Boys movie!! So cuTE! I’m doing a post on it soon!) But still. Library. I love.
And of course there are the little banshees children too. They’re kind of adorable.
My sister has collected a 4th from the faeries realms and it currently can’t crawl but can power roll and worm around so??? Nothing is safe??? Not the plants?? Not my sOCKS. And he pants while he army-crawls so it’s pretty much like having a puppy.
- I also discovered my 5-yo niece can MANIPULATE HER PLAYING CARDS AND USE STRATEGY. She can genuinely hold back good cards + just whoop me in two moves. I thought 5-year-olds were supposed to be innocent. wHO TAUGHT HER THIS.
- My 7yo nephew and I would sit on my bed and read. He, Tintin (I used to love these comics as a kid omg #throwback) and me, something with a lot more screaming in it.
- My 3yo niece threw her socks in the bin at one point and then just stood there crying about it.
- I still???? am so confused??? She was devastated they were in the bin BUT SHE DID IT.
- I feel like this is also a metaphor for life.
- I mistakenly said “Let’s play Simon Says!” which they LOVED because they could just order me around for…ages.
- Backfired. Majorly. Abort.
- I ran up and down the mountain in the backyard like…every day. I am a little dead. My legs have left me for a better life.
- IT WAS SO COLD. Since I live in tropical QLD, it was this massive and glorious shock going back to 3C degree mornings (about 37F). My cold dead heart thrived. My eyes glowed. My hair grew thick and luscious. Poisoned apples fell from the trees. I brought the winter storms.
- Usually I have super bad insomnia, but I sleep really well in the cold so!! I HAD ENERGY!! 4 solid hours!! Is this what normal people feel like!!!
- The baby just STARES at me. All the time. And smiles.
- And wants my iPod. And my crackers. And fistfuls of my hair.
- I actually wasn’t online as much and I enjoyed that. Ha. I have grown old.
- On the way home, while logging my baggage, the flight-person was like, “Oh…are you flying alone? How old are you?”
- I’M TWENTY-FOUR.
- THANKS.
The oldest two and I are all autistic so it’s like…EYE CONTACT. WHAT EYE CONTACT. We get along great.
I swear the littlest two’s smiles though.
I MELT.
I miss them so much.
I don’t have a lot of plans for September except vague shrieking.
I will blog again! I will hopefully draft a new book or edit something! I hate editing! Slay me now! I also have a lot of Stressful Things™ happening in my life right now, which is a struggle. But books make a good distraction. Also I have a vague and deliriously excellent hunch that we might be seeing a cover reveal for The Boy Who Steals Houses soon. Eeeeeeeep!
Ahhh I’m so happy you’re back from your hiatus, I’ve missed your posts!! <3
I can't even imagine how amazing it must have been for you to see your book in that bookstore, because I went to London for a trip, and saw ATPN as their "top picks" in a Waterstones, and I literally freaked out.
AND ONCE AGAIN, I'M SO THRILLED YOU ENJOYED TACOA. :') I can't wait to read your blog posts from when you asked for topics on Instagram. 🙂 <3
OMG DID YOU SAY “TOP PICKS” EXCUSE ME WHILE I FREAK OUT AHHHHH 😱🎉🎉🎉 (Seriously I can’t even get over how this is real sometimes *flails*)
Hope you had a lovely time with your niece and nephews. Love the author excitement in this post. More power to you, Cait. Also, I am amazed how much you re read and still keep a good number of ‘reading for the first time’ books. Keep at it!
I did!! So so much! 😍 I definitely wish we lived closer than 2000kms away though gahh. But so much author exciting things to make up for it at least. *flails over book until is ridiculous* 😂😂
So good to see you back, Cait! I missed you. But I’m really happy you had an awesome time with your family :).
I read a lot of books in the first half of August, mostly library loans that were due. After that I took a break from reading for a week. In the second half of August I read 2 books (and they weren’t even long books).
To be honest, my mind has been pre-occupied the past two weeks, because my dog is very ill :(. I’m taking care of him as best I can, but the vet doesn’t know exactly what it is either. I have medication for the two most likely causes, but we don’t know for sure that he’ll improve, and I just struggle. At the moment we have to sit and wait until next week Wednesday and see how he (our dog) is feeling then. My mum has been feeling unwell for a few weeks too, and we lost some chicken due to a predator (a fox or something like that).
I have travelled alone before, years ago (to visit my boyfriend in the UK, I’m from the Netherlands), but I haven’t travelled alone in the past few years (my boyfriend and I now live in a separate house on my parents’ property and we take care of all the animals).
My highlight of this month is Trevor Noah’s memoir, Born A Crime. It was very interesting. I recently read We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson which I liked a lot but didn’t love.
The pictures of your nieces and nephews are adorable.
I look forward to the spoilery Q&A. I left a question using the form. Oh, forgot to mention my name *duh* oops. My question had to do with the ending of the book (I loved it! But was curious how you came to end it like that. I thought it was an excellent ending).
I hope you have a nice time being back in your own place again :).
Ahhh thank you! It was really refreshing to take the break and I have LOTS of post ideas so eep. Also I’m glad I’m not the only one who tends to read intensely and then…not much at all.😂 *hi fives* I read SO much last week and then this week I just finished, um, 1 book.😂
I’m really sad about your dog though. I feel for you. 😭😭And your mum! I hope both of them recover fast and well. (Also ironically…my sister’s chickens got murdered by a fox while I was there too.😳)
And travelling alone to another country is HUGE and amazing! Go you!!
I also really need to read We Are The Ants! I like his other books so I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet. 😂 (And eeep thank you for leaving a question! I actually have a good answer for that one so I’m excited to share it.😂)
I’m so sorry about your sister’s chickens :(.
YES CAIT IS BACK.
I mean, I don’t usually comment but I wanted to now just to assure you that YES we miss your shrieking and whining, but it was also totally worth seeing the 4 fairy tale creatures’ smiles and af;fklja ;flkja cute.
Okay, gonna crawl back into my hidey hole now.
INGE, THANK YOU FOR SAYING HI. *sends cake with you back into the darkness* And like omg worth it to see my little changelings and also I feel a lot more refreshed for blogging?! I have some fun posts coming up. 😂
Hey Cait! I just want to say I’m really proud of your unapologetic attitude for not blogging. YOU DESERVE EVERY SECOND OF REST.
Hope you had a great hiatus, I missed your posts, but it’s great that you took some time for yourself to relax-you deserve it! I have read some good books in August, I finished Fawkes a couple of weeks ago, which I absolutely loved and I’m reading Tower of Dawn right now, which I’m enjoying more than I thought I would, considering I’m not the world’s biggest fan of Chaol. And yup, I travel alone quite a bit, mostly between Uni and home though! I have a few new releases coming out that I’m excited for but mostly I’m excited that once I’ve finished Tower of Dawn, I will finally be reading Vicious-I’ve heard such good things and I love Schwab so I can’t wait!
Aww, thanks, Jo!!😂 It was SO good to have the break, although I did miss everyone here! But I feel a little more recharged now which is good. Also omg Fawkes is amazing right?! LOVED IT. My preorder is taking forever to arrive (thaaaanks Australia) but I’m also super excited for Vengeful! I need to reread Vicious, oops, must get to that.
Yeah I really need to learn to take breaks more often, I’ve barely taken a week off since I started blogging! Yes it was, I was very glad I read your review of it actually, it wouldn’t have been so high on my radar of review books if I hadn’t seen how much you loved it! I don’t think Vengeful is out till the end of the month anyway? I need to catch up before it comes out!
Congrats, congrats, CONGRATS on seeing your book in a bookshelf! I remember the first time I saw mine in a store (I was told it would reach Australia in September, but it ended up here actually a little earlier, so it was a surprise!) and I almost burst into tears. LOL. Such a special moment (and I only hope I get to do it with another book. ONE DAY, CAIT.) I’m actually super glad that spring is almost here… As much as I love the winter, I love flowers more, hah.
AHHH I FEEL LIKE A (semi😂) REAL AUTHOR NOW, KARA. I CAN’T CONTAIN THIS FLAIL.😂 And I’m so so rooting for it to happen again for you because I want to read ALL your words?! Especially your fantasy books because every time you post about them my opinion is all the heart-eyes. 😍😍
(I really really like winter haha, but omg apparently it’s going to be 30 up here on the weekend? I’m in FNQ and just like…excuse me, where was our AT LEAST 1 WEEK OF SPRING.) *cries*
August was okay. I’m trying to find a job, so I’m stuck in a constant spiral of applications and rejections at the minute, God knows what I’ll do when my best friend goes back to uni. I read the first volume of Batgirl: Stephanie Brown, which was INCREDIBLE and I finally started the second Lunar Chronicles book, so I can’t complain. Writing’s not going so well though – my not yet completed first draft is a mess and I’m losing faith in my story.
Noooo I hate rejections. I really feel for you *sends cake* and also for losing faith in your story. Tbh I’ve been in terrible writing slumps lately (self-sabotaging doubt I think though for me😭) but it SUCKS. It just makes everything feel bleh when the words won’t happen right. So I’m hoping September looks up for you and you get a really good job that you like!! 💛
Awwww, indeed, their smiles… 🙂
Most of my September will probably include vague screaming as well. I am NOT ready for the kids to go back to school, and we’re doing everything legit last minute this year. Highly unadvised, but here we are…
THEY ARE SO CUTE I AM SO HAPPY TO BE WITH THEM AGAIN. 😭💛And it was SO nice to just have a break from everything and be a human playground for a while haha. (Although they get LOUD. Woah.) And omg good luck with your back-to-school prep! Does this mean more time for you to write when the boys are gone?
Technically more time to write, yes. At least, more time without smol humans hollering. (You know exactly how that is.) And without tall ones trying to get out of doing their chores or making me their food delivery mule.
You sounded so delighted to be there! I’m glad you got to make this trip – for yourself!
I read 11 books in August…which was WAY WAY WAY more than I planned and now my uni assignments and I are kind of dying but BOOKS!!!!!!!!!! No regrets, not really. One book I read was The Well of Ascension, which I kind of think counts as at least 2 books if not 3. Mistborn is the first of the Brandon Sanderson series I’ve read and IT IS AMAZING!! I’m definitely going to be finishing The Hero of Ages this weekend and will then no doubt be on the lookout for another of his series. (The covers are also SO BEAUTIFUL!) Have you read (m)any Sanderson books??
P.S. Your nieces and nephews are SUPER cute!!
Ahh congrats on a good reading month for you too! (Also I agree that all Brandon Sanderson’s books should count for at least two? They are so big haha. Tbh I don’t read his works anymore because of his problematic attitude toward the queer community, but I did enjoy Steelheart when I read it a few years back. I don’t read/buy his books anymore though because I won’t support him.😔😔)
Fair enough!! I don’t think I pay as much attention to the authors of the books I read as much as I could or should, which when I think about it, is kinda strange considering I write myself. Sometimes, I feel like every second “famous” person I hear about has some kind of scandal or prejudiced attitude attached to them, which makes me very sad 😣 WE’RE ALL JUST PEOPLE, PEOPLE!!!
It depends for me, tbh. Like some things I’m willing to look past, but authors who are vocal about hating on queer people are on my permanently NOPE list. And there were several authors accused of sexual harassment recently and I’m steering clear of them too. So maybe their work isn’t directly influenced, but idk…I feel odd about supporting even their art, if that makes sense. (Just me personally though! I know there is also room for people to change…)
Ok, every time you bring up the niblings, it makes me immensely happy. I love hearing about all you get up to with them.
I’m glad you had a good month and were able to enjoy your hiatus! (I was wondering why I was seeing fewer blog posts in general in my inbox . . . guess this is why, haha.) And I’m excited for you with all the book things! That’s fabulous!
They are intensely adorable and they’re growing up so fAST.😭💛💛I love them!! I wish we lived closer gah. And it was good not having to think about blogging for a few weeks?! But I have quite a few ideas I’m excited to write down so!! That’s so good! AHH.
Yay for hiatus!!! Glad you’ve been able to take a break 😊 Especially one that included seeing smol children. And seeing your own book in bookstores!!! SO AMAZING! CONGRATULATIONS! 🙌🏻🎉🙌🏻🎉🙌🏻
And September sounds mysterious and amazing….also you read 18 books in August!!! I read about a dozen, and I’m working on plotting an Augustus Caesar gender swapped inspired story. Hoping that’s going to be my MAJOR writing project this fall.
I’M STILL SO STOKED I CAN’T EVEN. And omg did you just say Caeser genderswapped?!? I’M FREAKING OUT. THAT SOUNDS AMAZING. 😍😍😍
Congrats on achieving your goal! That’s so awesome. I’m glad you had fun with your family, even if they were exhausting and demanding. I recently added Picture Us In The Light to my TBR list, but I’ve been thinking about taking it off. I don’t know! The cover is so pretty.
Sooooo relieved and excited I finally did it! I CAN RETIRE NOW. (That’s how this works, right.)😂 And aghhhh I don’t know what to say about Picture Us In The Light? Like I feel it’s an important book and it talks about immigration and Chinese-American culture a lot, I just so didn’t click with the style and really felt the queer part was NOT acknowledged or talked about until like the epilogue?! Which feels off.
A COVER REVEAL?! *screams with excitement*
I am super happy to see your blog posts again because I love your blog posts. 😉
AND?? FANART??? *more screaming* I know what you should do! You should hold a giveaway for your book and as an extra like 5 entries, people can DRAW YOU FANART. IT’S PERFECT. (they’ll do it 😂)
N’AWW JULIA, YOU ARE SO SUPER SWEET. And honestly I would love to ask for fanart.😂I do feel a bit guilty any time I ask for things though so I don’t know?! It’d be a fun idea though!!
After I read your book (I still need to *sob*) I’ll just draw a bunch of fanart and send it to you or something. 😉
*tackle hugs*
Yay! Glad to have you back! I travelled to South Africa alone. I love in Western USA. Ya….that was rough. August has been crazy busy and I’m hoping things settle down as we start the school year next week.
Omggg that is a HUGE trip! You are so epic for doing that! And I hope September treats you really well too! Little less busyness can be good.😂
I read the tigers curse series except for tigers dream, The Last Namsara (really good btw) I am reading smoke theives right now and then I will read war storm.. Im so excited!!!
Ohhh I want to read The Last Namsara!! It has dragons right?! I need ALL the dragons. And The Smoke Thieves is SO GOOD TOO.
I figured since you were being more active on Goodreads your hiatus might be over. My August was hectic because of my family’s vacation and I finished like three or four books over the weekend before so I could start new ones on the car ride. But I enjoyed those books! This month my favorite books have been
-my Percy Jackson reread, so good
-Fawkes, fun fact; Tom Holland is really easy to imagine as Thomas Fawkes
-The first Vampire Academy book, it was actually really good, proof of don’t judge a book by it’s cover
-the first Darkest Minds book, it had good characters but really slow and boring plot
Also yesterday was my birthday and I got so many books and spent a half hour in Barnes and Noble and only bought one book, my family hates me for having them wait so long but I have n regrets
YAS I AM BACK. *falls face first back into all the blogging things like the awkward gnat I am*
Also I love your list. ALSO I freaking agree about Tom Holland as Thomas Fawkes!? Hecking yes. Someone get that cast immediately. It would just make such a good movie with all the visuals anyway, right?!
I keep meaning to read the VA books but I also chronically judge books by their covers ha. My bad.
(And happy belated birthday!! I hope there was cake! I’m glad there was books!)
Your nieces and nephews are adorable!! Glad you could take some down time and enjoy a break from writing/editing and social media. We all need that.
My August has gone too fast as usual and now I’m panicking trying to figure out our new home school schedule and books (thankfully I already have most of them).
Working on novel number three, rewriting heroine’s career and trying to figure out main plot points.
Glad to have you back, I enjoy reading your posts!
They ARE so so cute!! AHHH. And so rowdy but I love them.💛😂And it’s nice to come back to it all refreshed and ready to write ALL the words that’s for sure ahh! And oh, good luck with your homeschooling and books!! That always was a wild mess for our family when school term started again too. (And omg novel three! AHHH GOOD LUCK!)
I’m so glad you’re back, Cait! We’ve undoubtedly missed you and your general shrieking in the distance.
Ahem.
I’m hella proud for you(if that makes sense at all), both for flying alone (I’ve never done it) and how you got to see ATPN in the bookstore. You do look like an adorable twelve-year-old, but that’s fine. It just means we’re incredibly unsuspecting of you and it’ll be quite a dramatic reveal when you inevitably take over the world.
Also, your family is so adorable and I melt, too.
I just finished City of Ghosts and An Enchantment of Ravens and enjoyed both intensely. I mean ghostly Scottish adventures and vicious fae with a rotting forest aesthetic?? How could I not??
I HAVE MISSED EVERYBODY!!! I mean I was on instagram obsessively but what’s new.😂That’s like just pocket sized shrieks from me. We’re back to several thousand-word hits again. Such bliss. Such lovely. :’)
Aww that makes me cRY thank you, Alice. 😭💛I’m really proud of me too actually (and not ashamed to be proud of me!) because these are things I pretty much wouldn’t have been able to do this time last year. So I feel good that I COULD do them! Looking like an apparent 12 year old aside! (HOW DO I LOOK HALF MY AGE WHAT IS THIS.)
Omg LOVE both of those too. Scottish adventures by the Schwab queen? She’s so perfect.
I still can’t over the gorgeous ATPN fanart!! That’s so cool!
I reviewed ATPN on Amazon, though I had to do it under my dad’s account. Amazon won’t let certain accounts review any products unless you’ve spent a minimum amount of money with your account, so that could be part of the reviewing problem. I think it’s a recent thing, because I used to review books all the time on my account until it stopped letting me do it. 😛 It’s super frustrating.
Just looking at pictures of the library makes me want to ditch all of my plans for the day and go live in the stacks.
Maybe the 5-year-old niece was corrupted by . . . dare I say it, you? xD She sounds super sneaky.
I am HYPED for The Boy Who Steals Houses cover. Yellow is my all-time favorite color and there aren’t enough pretty yellow book covers, so ever since you hinted that might be what it is, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the reveal.
This month I reread one of my longtime favorites, All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill, because I was laid up for a few days after getting my wisdom teeth extracted. I was so tired and so sick of eating soft foods, so books and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” were the only things keeping me distracted. xD I’m going to a writing retreat that Cristin Terrill and Beth Revis head up and I am SO EXCITED. They’re going to read an excerpt from my book and give me advice and everything and aoisdfjklasdjf can’t wait omg.
SERIOUSLY MAKES MY LIFE OMGGG. Fanart is like something I never considered people would want to do for my little book?! I just AHH! !!! !!! AHH!!
And I do understand about Amazon. It drives me up the wall with that new thing that you can’t review unless you buy…they’re kiiiillling me. But anyway. You are kind and wonderful anyway so don’t worry! (Also yes pls can we all just get to live in our own private libraries?! Life would be infinitely better.)
MAYBE BY ME.😂I just thought little kids were supposed to…not…be Slytherins with their cards.😂It’s hilarious because she’s such a soft sweetie for everything and then then bring out the board games and it’s like: CONQUER. WIN. TRICK. SLAY.
I still need to read All Our Yesterdays!! SO BAD. I loved Here Lies Daniel Tate. (And omg sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth though. Sounds sooo painful.)
OMG A WRITING RETREAT?! THAT SOUNDS INCREDIBLE.
So happy that you’ve had a good time! It’s always nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Congrats on the new book! Can’t wait to see the cover reveal! 😀
Honestly I actually did the opposite with this trip hahh.😂My life is very quiet but I WENT to the hustle and screeching of a mad house of preschoolers.😂It was great though!
I’m so glad you’re back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While you were gone I finally got my hands on your book and read it and loved it so much! I actually made (tried to make) the cupcakes and I’m making the cake today. My family approved of the cupcakes. 🙂
I wish I had time to read a book per day, but I’ve started school again so I don’t have time (*tears*).
I can’t wait to read The Boy Who Steals Houses!!
Your nephews and nieces are The Cutest.
Aww you are KIND. 💛 And omggg thank you for reading my book. I truly FLAIL from the rooftops! Also it kind of inspires people to eat cake so like, that is my legacy?! 😂
THEY ARE THE CUTEST I LOVE THEM.
I have just bought your book! Sorry, it’s in e-book format, but living in Italy, buying an e-book is the simplest way to obtain it. I’m happy that you had such a good month! Good luck with the stressful things 🙂
OMG THANK YOU THOUGH!! And pfft don’t be sorry at all! Ebooks are marvellous and convenient!💛💛
I feel bad that I didn’t think to do an Amazon review. I never remember because I don’t have my own account! But now I have a review on both .com and .de, so yay! Also, you have the cutest nieces and nephews!
Aww thank you though!! I appreciate it. I feel weird and awkward asking people for reviews, but apparently it’s important.💛 (And omg I can’t even leave Amazon reviews right now because they won’t let me unless I buy stuff?! And I can hardly buy stuff if I’m aUSTRALIAN.)
Hiiii, Cait !!
So glad you’re back :3 I didn’t know your hiatus would be so short, so i was extremely surprised and thrilled to see your new post today, as i didn’t see it coming and it made me super happy.
CONGRATS ON ALL THOSE STUNNING THINGS ABOUT ATPN <3 YOU'RE A FREAKING GODDESSSSSSSS <3 A FREAKING, DEBUT GODDES :3 SO PROUD <3
I'm really looking forward to City of Ghosts !!!! #anxious
Kisses!
P.S. I'm utterly in love with seeing what you'll post during September !!!
P.S. You don't do any promo, do you? I mean, a blog post about recommeding small blogs or following them?
KISSEEEESSSS <3
I felt it was long haha.😂I mean nearly 3 weeks? But it was good! I really enjoyed not having to think about it, although I missed chatting to everyone gah. AND OMG YOU’RE LOVELY AND ENCOURAGING. 💛💛 And City of Ghosts is super cute and good!!
(I sometimes do rec posts but I haven’t in a while!)
Well, that’s fantasticccc hahah <3 <3 <3
LOVE <3
(Oh, okay! I was just asking because, if you're planning to do one of those posts, i just wanted to ask if you could recommend mine. Sorry, this sounds awful so you should just ignore me xD The thing is that V.E. Schwab, who is of couuuurse my favourite author) is coming to Argentina next year and, if i were to be invited to meet her exclusively like other bloggers are, i should have more followers. Just to call the attention here in Argentina… ANYWAY xD. Idk why i'm rambling so much. Ignore me. Love youuuu xD.)
Haha that’s okay! I’m so happy you’ll get to meet Schwab though! Omg!
Seeing your book in a store, that must have been so surreal and amazing!
So proud of you, Cait! You deserve all the cake!
You’re sister’s kids are adorable, omigoodness! <3
SO SURREAL. I’M STILL REELING. aHHHH. I can retire now life goal achieved. :’) And omg aren’t they just the cutest?! Total copy-and-paste kids too.😂
I can’t wait for the spoilery Q&A for ATPN! I can’t think of any questions myself because I always forget everything I wanted to know as soon as I finish a book. But still… I bet I need all the answers anyway 🙂
Also those kids are so damn cute!
Aww yay! I am so glad you’re excited! I’m pretty excited to ramble about all the spoiler things too tbh.😂
I actually travel alone quite a lot! I have a group of friends in the USA so I often take the long flight (UK-US) alone to see them, and I recently took a holiday alone to Paris! To be honest, I prefer it alone. If you’re on holiday with people, you have to be social all.the.time and it exhausts me, but this way I’m not tied to anyone elses itineraries.
Read 12 books this month, most were average to me but I did manage to get around to Legendary!
Oh wow, that’s SO far to fly!! Go you for being so epic!! And I actually do relate to needing to be alone so you don’t get too exhausted.😂Like I do need people around (just my family though) but actual socialising with others?! Yeeeah no. Exhausting. I need a hobbit hole.😂
YAY FOR LEGENDARY. The best!!
So glad you’re back, Cait!! I’ve missed your posts but I’m glad you had a great break!! Your little nieces and nephews are sooo cute, btw!! 😍 And that is AMAZING that you saw your book in it’s setting!! So so happy for you!
My August went very very fast…. I don’t even know how that happened lol but here it is almost September 🤷♀️ But I did get a chance to read Children of Blood and Bone this month and I really enjoyed it!!
Can’t wait to see what you thought of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! (I’ve heard good things!!)
Aww, thank you, Kailey!! I missed chatting to everyone tbh. MY PEOPLE. YAY FOR ALL THE BOOK CHATS WE CAN HAVE AGAIN. And omg my little relatives are absolutely adorable, I can’t even. Truly devious, but adorable.
I’m glad you liked COBAB! It’s insanely hyped but totally deserves it, eep.
(And To All the Boys was ADORABLE.)
Aha never been on a plane but the thought terrifies me, as does going places I’ve not been before alone. I like knowing where I’m going, I also have been in a reading slump. But not the normal one…it’s the one where I want to read but I have no motivation to pick my current read – which makes me feel guilty cause it’s Children of Blood and Bone and I met Tomi who’s a total sweetheart, I love her and I want to finish her book so I can shriek about it xD #thestruggleisreal
I’ve started to plan blogmas posts instead of my september posts…save me *runs and hides* I was doing well until someone mentioned blogmas and I was just like…planning posts yay! Also bought three new notebooks, prettiness makes me happy and more fineliner pens cause YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TO MANY. Always scared I’ll run out of this type of fine liner xD so i buy two packs at once, giving me 6 at once haha
I need to know where I’m going to!! The only reason I could do this is I actually flew down in January with my sister (who is like…functional😂) and my parents dropped me off at the very GATE to get on, and then my older sister picked me up at the gate as soon as I was off. So that took a lot of freak-out-stress of navigating an airport away. I could just follow people who knew where to go.😂
Sometimes books don’t suit us at a certain time right?! Maybe you’ll like COBAB later?? It is a pretty thick one! I found it pretty intense to get through too.😂
Omg LOOK AT YOU PLANNING SO FAR AHEAD THOUGH. And pfft never too many notebooks. Ever.😂
Oh my gosh, flying alone sounds TERRIFYING! I flew with my dad this August for the first time in six years, and… I spent basically the entire plane ride (It was short, thank goodness) gripping the armrests, chatting at my dad to try and keep my mind off the fact that WE WERE IN A GIANT METAL TUBE IN THE SKY, and trying to convince myself that the plane wan’t going to crash and kill us all.
TERRIFYING.
Ooh, I’m so excited for the cover reveal for The Boy Who Steals Houses! And also I’ve been meaning to review ATPN on Amazon! Problem is, it’s my dad’s account, sooo… I might need to convince him to read it and do it himself. Depending how much faith he has in my taste in books.
Also your nieces and nephews are adorable!
ISN’T IT JUST THE WORST?! Like I kind of love the fact I can travel 2000kms in like 2 hours BUT…omg. Flying in a plane where you like can’t move around and cAN’T GET OUT if you get claustrophobic? Actual hell.😂 Plus there was a crying baby on my flight home which was a bit like death. However I have good noise-cancelling headphones so hELLO saving grace.
Afdjkslad thank you for reviewing ATPN! You can always just copy and paste your review to your dad’s account, maybe? That might be easier!
That sock story is definitely a metaphor for life. Wow.
One time my aunt got stopped in a hospital and the guy was like “Sorry, ma’am, you have to be at least sixteen to go into this ward.” My aunt was in her thirties and had five kids at the time. So.
A COVER for The Boy Who Steals Houses??? I am so excited!
I discovered some awesome new books in August (like Nowhere Near You, Evil Genius and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane) and now I am on this random Reread-Every-Kate-DiCamillo-Book-That-Exists spree and that wasn’t planned but these things happen.
Also I really want to read Bridge of Clay!
Isn’t it though?! Like I texted the sock story to my sister and was like: “Being 3 and being an adult are remarkably similar though.” EVERYTHING IS DIRE BUT IT’S ALL OUR FAULT. Ahem.
And omg to your aunt story!! 😂I mean I guess that’s flattering?!
I’m glad you had some epic reads for August! I need to read Evil Genius and Nowhere Near You was so good though ahh. And oMG BRIDGE OF CLAY. My expectations are so high ahaha.
Well August was….ok. I was really excited about a creative writing class I was supposed to take this month but it got canceled at the last minute cuz nobody else signed up for it. 🙁 So…I guess it’s back to laying around reading and blogging I guess. XD
But I have been busy redoing my room and going to the state fair a lot since I got a free pass since I’ve been working there a little bit, so that’s something.
And OMG I could NEVER travel alone! I never have and hopefully I never will. I try at all costs to avoid it. XD
And I started Six of Crows and your book and some others, and I’ve been really enjoying them, but I’ve had like zero time to read them so I have barely gotten through any of them. And I keep getting distracted by other projects when I DO have free time. XD But I promise I will finish them soon!
Oh and speaking of your book, when is the latest I can submit questions for that spoilery Q and A post? Cuz I REALLY want to participate but obviously I don’t have any questions yet cuz I haven’t had time to finish it and I won’t until next week sometime. But I will as soon as I can! 🙂
Aww no, that’s so unfortunate it got cancelled! 😭😭 Will it get rescheduled do you know?! I hope it works out. And that sounds like you’ve been super busy too eep. And travelling alone isn’t…my favourite…BUT LOOK AT MY LITTLE KIDS. IT’S WORTH IT.
Omg I love Six of Crows!! It’s pretty intense and thick, but SO good and worth it!
I’ll probably leave the spoilery Q&A open for a week? I was lowkey thinking of doing it for my 3-month anniversary of release. I sound like someone who’s like newly dating lmaooooo. But I’m disorganised so I really don’t know. 😂
Well I can try again next semester in January and just hope that more people will sign up then. That’s pretty much it. 😔
Yeah….I’m an only child so…I don’t have any good reason to travel alone. 😂
Ok good. A week is perfect…if I can actually sit down and read it. 😂
Congratulations on seeing your book in a bookstore!!!!!!!! And also for taking a well deserved break!!
I’m (finally oh my goodness) going to get ATPN soon for my birthday (which is also when school starts so that’s…) and I’m so excited read it because I’ve been waiting for it for so long. But I have to admit August has been such an unproductive month for me, I have a huge pile of work due in 4 days that I had like a month to work on (whoops), I’ve had a book slump for various reasons throughout the summer, and I’m like 7 books behind in my reading goal so that’s nice. But I’m still so happy because I’ll be reading ATPN soon, and its been my most anticipated book of the year, sooo! And then I can shove it in everyone’s faces and make them eventually read it (going to see if guilting them into reading it by gifting it for birthdays is a good strategy.) Also your nieces and nephews are ADORABLE!
Ps- I’ve always wondered, if a library buys a book, does it help the author significantly? I’ve tried to search it up but I’ve never gotten a good answer. I wanted to request my library to order your book so others can read it, but I’m not sure if it’ll be helpful for you in any way?
AWW THANK YOU. I’M STILL FLAILING AND PROBABLY WILL NEVER STOP. *all the happy twirls*
Oooh happy-nearly-birthday to you! And also excellent choice of present eep. 😂(omg most anticipated?! yOU MAKE ME CRY THANK YOU.) Also hey I totally understand the book slumpy feels! After having a spectacular reading month for August I’m kind of back in a bleh-zone.😂So unfair, brain, thanks.
And yes! Asking libraries to buy is awesome! The author actually does get paid if it’s published in their country (so I get paid a little teeny bit per loan for Aussie libraries) but not overseas…although I still will get paid for the actual purchase of the book. But like it’s SO good for libraries to carry books, no matter the country! SO GO FOR IT WITH REQUESTING. I appreciate it!!
AHHH WE MISSED YOU HERE CAIT! But you deserve that hiatus. You’ve been doing lots of things and you should rest as much as you can.
My August was difficult since I got back to school this month and I JUST READ THREE BOOKS. This is so tragic I wanna cry. Fave read among the three is City of Ghosts by Schwab. I don’t travel alonr because social anxiety is always present.
I’m so looking forward to the Vengeful release this September!
I MISSED YOU ALL TOO. Although tbh I really did enjoy not having to think about blogging for a few weeks. 😂 And I’m so glad you also liked City of Ghosts (I mean it’s SCHWAB. How could we not!) and agh I hope you get to read some more amongst all the busy school things.
Social anxiety sucks so much, believe me I knooooow.😭😭
HI CAIT! It’s so good to read a blog post from you and I’m glad you had a good time on your hiatus, it is so important to take care of yourself and take breaks, too, even if it’s sometimes easier said than done haha 🙂
SO HAPPY you found your book in a bookstore ahhh that’s so very exciting!! 😀
I’m also glad you have read so many good books this month – I LOVED The Beauty That Remains, as well as I Was Born For This and I can’t WAIT to read Autoboyography sometime soon, hopefully 😀
I hope you’ll have a brilliant September and YES A COVER REVEAL MORE INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR NEXT BOOK AHHHHHHH.
It is so so good to take breaks ahhh!! I feel like I should probably do this more often instead of getting to the stage where I’m sO SICK of everything.😂 But I’ve got post ideas and I feel a little less burned out so this is great.😂 And afjdksla STILL so stoked over finding ATPN in a bookstore. 😍My life is 10000% better now.
(Also Autoboyography is just too adorable ahhh. I hope you enjoy it!)
I’ve just come from instagram after asking a question, and I’m SO EXCITED for that post wow! I love that you didn’t leave your blog behind because it’s so fun to get behind-the-scenes etc. posts from you about your book + all the “normal” posts you’ve been doing for years. I’m glad you’ve gotten more motivation to read!! I’m not in a slump exactly, but due to my July and August reads not being great, I’ve been in an awful mood. So many books I thought I’d *love* – like all time favorite level love – ended up letting me down. *cries* Also, I’m reading Spinning Silver, and idk if you’ve read Uprooted, but I loooved that one, meanwhile this feels so average, and I’m crying over spending so much on the pretty hardcover. 😂
I don’t even like children, but I’ll admit, your nieces and nephews look precious as hell! Loved the stories about them, especially the socks in the bin one. 😂😂
Aww thank you, Veronika!! I definitely get a lot of joy out of blogging so I don’t want to stop! And it is fun to keep doing my regular wild and random posts too. 😂 And omg a slew of bad reads really does bring down the wish to keep reading, right?! I had a few bleh ones to finish off August so I was thinking September was going to be a headache. BUt I started with two new favourites so !! I have good hopes!
Aw no I’ve heard people rave about Spinning Silver. 😭It’s the worst when the highly anticipated ones let us down.
(They are the cutest little human creatures. Also completely bizarre, but CUTE.)
WOW! That’s a lot of books to read while you’ve been gone! I’m SO excited you’ve returned! When you were gone, it was super weird not seeing any new and posts on your blog. Good to see you!
Don’t worry haha, I did actually read most of them before I left. 😂 I spent most of my time with a child climbing on my head (NO REGRETS, THEY’RE CUTE) but ahhh it’s good to be back!
YAY COVER! I cannot wait! Also, your nieces and nephews are adorable! So glad that you were able to spend such nice time with them! And seeing your book in the bookstore… I honestly cannot even imagine the feeling, I am so, so happy for you!! August was actually a really good reading month for me which is… unusual lately, so I am pretty happy! I do travel alone sometimes- mostly when I go to bookish stuff- and I feel like a really worldly person, traveling all by myself. Which is probably silly since I am a grown ass woman. It is funny that they wanted to chaperone you though bwhahahah. Hope that the stress calms down a bit too for you, no one wants that!! ♥♥♥
THE BOOKSTORE WAS THE BEST MOMENT THOUGH. I’M STILL FLAILING. And omg the littlies have grown up so much and I love them so ahhhh. We’re going back in October at least though, which is good. And I’m SO happy you had an excellent reading month!
It’s kind of wild travelling alone, right?! I mean pfft @ age. It still feels adventurous. 😂Also terrifying. I had family pick me up at the very gate though or else I would’ve been totally overwhelmed.😂
I MISSED YOU, CAIT.
It sounds like you had a super busy and exciting month! I think it’s good that you took a break from blogging though. You work so hard; it’s good to rest every now and then! 🙂
I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU LIVE IN A PLACE WITHOUT A LIBRARY. I CRY FOR YOU. :'( I think next week I’m going to try to read a book a day…I did that last month during the booktubeathon and it was SO MUCH FUN.
Also, well done for flying on your own!! I can’t travel by myself – it would make me way, way too anxious!
I MISSED YOU TOO, KYRA. CAKE FOR US BOTH FOR SURVIVING THIS TRAUMA SEPARATION. 😂*sends you cake* Also omg…I know right?? What kind of life is there without a proper library. I mean they have a tiny one-room shack thing, but it’s not counted because the books are old and I’ve read them anyway.
(Seriously it is SO anxiety-inducing travelling alone. *screams into oblivion* I was really desperate eeek. And had family pick me up at the airport gate but UGH SERIOUSLY. People everywhere is my least favourite thing. 😭)
I’m glad you took the time you needed to rest, Cait <3 I also took a long break from serious blogging and it was definitely needed but now I'm back too.
The cover of A Thousand Perfect Notes is BEAUTIFUL! You've done so much, I'm so happy for you ^_^
Thanks for sharing,
~Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
It’s really good to take breaks ahhh. I should do this more often and not wait until I’m halfway to being dead. 😂😂 (Although I DO love blogging and I did miss everyone!)
AWw thank you, DID I MENTION YOU’RE SO NICE. 💛💛💛
Oh my god your nieces and nephews are so freaking adorable (but also #canrelate children are horrible, no more than three hours at a time please, if that)!
My August went well. School started up (rip), but I decided to try my hand at screenwriting and LO AND BEHOLD IT WORKS WONDERFULLY FOR MY SUPERHERO PROJECT!
I watched the To All The Boys movie before I read the book (pls don’t kill me I broke my own rule i kNOW), so I’m not trying to read that while balancing schoolwork again because AHHH SCHOOL!!!!
I have not traveled alone, but I think it would be quite nice because HA what is social interaction
Honestly, with the rate at which I’ve been reading books, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT’S COMING OUT SOON! i just say “i got this on my shelf and i’m not looking online until i read them or i will buy moar”
I do love them sO MUCH even though their little brains are somewhat confusing. Like the sock instance. The 3year old is hilarious though and made me play a game to guess her facial expressions. One emotion was “sleepwalking” and another was “mermaid”. Yes, I too, someones experience the emotion of MERMAID.
Ahhh good luck with school!! And omg that’s fantastic that screen writing is working for you! That’s something I’ve yet to fathom even trying 😂
Awwwwwwww that’s so adorable. Mermaid is such a mood tho xDDDD
It’s really fun! It’s also kinda great, because my prose is very dialogue-heavy, so it works well for me!
*squints* I’m sorry, who are you again? *adjusts glasses* Oh, yes, I suppose I do remember. After all this, time, you know, at my age, it’s sometimes questionable. 😉
BUT I TOTALLY MISSED YOU. Where else will I get cake references and subtle plots for world domination?
… I feel like there’s subliminal messaging here that I should go read ATPN, which I’ve only put off doing for too long now because I’M SO EXCITED which is a good way to get through less exciting things. xD Oops? I feel I’ve earned my professional procrastinator status, BUT SINCE YOU ASKED SO NICELY. And you deserve all the reviews.
Excuse me while I pretend not to be jealous that you get to read Bridge of Clay.
… I’m a really lousy pretender, sorry. What can I say? xD
The littles are so cute! Oh my gosh. Looks like you had a ton of fun (and well-deserved and needed break, I dare say?)
I read … a lot of five-star books last month. Which makes me suspicious. The world’s probably going to end, just to give you a heads-up. Like Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson (finally) and Sky in the Deep and I also read the Astonishing Color of After and ahhhh my heart still hurts.
It’s nice to see you back. 😀
DON’T FORGET ME, SAMMIEEEEEE. I’M KEEPING THIS WORLD TOGETHER. (Ok possibly NOT but I can dream.😂) And like exactly though, right??? I’m here to supply everyone with far too many mentions of cake and keep the industry alive.
Aww I would appreciate so much if you reviewed but also no pressure!😂I don’t expect everyone one of my blogging friends to want to read it! aLTHOUGH there is cake from me if you want toooo *flails*
(I’m a bit terrified of Bridge of Clay’s size.😂)
Omg The Astonishing Colour of After though… I am WRECKED.
Those are some seriously cute children.
Also I haven’t been here in foreverrr don’t eat me I just slipped away from reading blogs for a while but aHhHhH I missed your blog. Ha. Anyway, I don’t think I ever said a major (majorly late) CONGRATS on your book!!! Following someone’s blog and seeing them dream about getting their book published and then seeing it happen…. Wow. That’s amazing. And I must get my hands on that booook.
My August was better than I’ve been in a while as far as writing goes. I did some (not a lot, but some) work on my current WIP and got excited about it again. I got up the courage to start a blog. I started READING blogs again. I have, however, read a very sad amount of books this month (this year!!), but I’m working on that. I’ve been reading the complete Oz series by L. Frank Baum and oh my goodness. They are hysterical. There are very few books that have made me laugh out loud but these definitely did. As ridiculous as they are, they are so fun. xD
THEY ARE JUST THE CUTEST. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
Aw I wouldn’t eat you. Cake tastes better tbh. :’) But thank you so much about my book!! And like it’s so wildly surreal still?! People are all like “I’ve read your book!” and I just want to flop all over the place and have no idea how to even.😂I’m such a professional wATCH OUT.😂
I’m glad you got some writing done in august! More than me in that area hhaha. And I am off to read your blog after this!!
Congratulations again Cait on the fabbo book! It must be so exhilarating everytime you walk into a bookstore and see it on the shelves. Woohoo! I hope the feeling never gets old.
And good on you for taking a blogging break! I know how hard you work on this blog, but sometimes, you just need to step back and take a breath! Your neices and nephews are super ADORABLE. I just want to pinch their cheeks hehe.
Glad to see you nice and rested! x
Aww, Joy, THANK YOU.😍Seriously it was just such a !!! moment for me. I’m still not over it. I can’t imagine what it’ll be like next year to go in and see two books ajdfkslad.
Blogging is gREAT but tbh I really really enjoyed just not thinking about it for a while. 😂I missed everyone! But it was good to switch off haha.
Okay, so I read about four books in August. Not as much as I would have liked to have read but progress is progress.
I’m glad you visited the bookstore and saw your book!
Also, it’s good to take a break from time to time. Looking forward to future posts!
All progress is good, for sure! And all that truly matters is that you enjoyed them right?! Aww I’m glad you’re looking forward to my posts. 💛
Yeay you are back. <3 Your banshee children are so cute, haha. Toddlers just don't make sense Cait. Accept it now. It makes live so much easier. Mine just turned 2 and for the love of me, I just don't understand him half the time…
So much yeay to seeing your book in the book store. That has to be the best feeling!
They are the CUTEST even if they make 0% sense. I don’t…understand how toddler’s brains work, but tbh I don’t think THEY know either.😂 It’s a wild time that’s for sure ahh. (She also told me one day that I couldn’t play with her because I’m a “grown up” and then, obviously, got mad when I wasn’t playing with her…lIKE YOU TOLD ME NOT TO. wHAT DO YOU WANT, SMALL CREATURE.)
It’s really cool to have you back! I missed your posts 😂 Your little nieces and nephews sound so freaking adorable omg. And seeing your book in a bookstore must have been the best feeling ever! 😄
Andrea @ https://spaceshipsvampiresandsecretagents.blogspot.com/
AWW I WAS MISSED. *blushes* 😂💛💛Although you all probably deserved a break too from all my yelling?!
But omg they are so adorable I can’t even with them. And bOOKSTORE APPRECIATION AHHH.
im glad that you had such a nice and well deserved break! 🙂
Thank you, Lauren!! It was such a good time ahhh I miss them so much.
Oh they are the cutest kids ever! I swear it’s a thing with small children, though – they’ll do stuff and then instantly realise that they didn’t really want to do it and melt down. And reading with children is the best thing. I love to sit and read with my siblings and it’s SO AMAZING to see them starting to love books like I do!
And on the subject of cold – cold weather is my kingdom. I’m really not a huge fan of the sun (I burn like a vampire), so I like the cold very much. Give me wild winter weather and chilly winds over balmy sun any day!
All your recently read books have the nicest covers! Book covers are just the most wonderful thing ever when they’re beautiful. I know they say not to judge a book by it’s cover but… I do. A beautiful cover just makes a book leap off of the shelf, I’d say!
Children are the most confusing things ever. 😂I have NO idea how their little brains work half the time lmao. In the 3yo’s defence it was super late and she was really tired and I DID avert the meltdown with (fake) chocolate milk so. Win-win for the aunt situation here. I was trying not to laugh though.😂
Cold weather IS SO GOOD THOUGH. My family is always cheering about the summer, but nooo, let me turn into an icicle. I thrive.
And I really like when my monthly reads’ covers match too?! Everything went so well this month.😂
I’m so excited for you that you got to see your book in a real life bookshop! That’s such a cool moment. And I can’t wait to see the cover for The Boy Who Steals Houses!
Also, your nieces and nephews are adorable. Definitely cute enough to get away with card strategy and throwing their own socks in the bin and then crying about it.
EEEEP THANK YOU!! Still such a good moment afsjdklad I’m so happy!! (And definitely cute enough to get away with murder this lot.😂😂)
Awww what a fun trip! I kinda traveled alone for the first time in August… except I really just went through airport baggage/security/etc by myself and met my grandpa at the gate before boarding the plane lol so I don’t know if that counts. Flying alone has always TERRIFIED me but it actually ended up being no big deal? So I’m feeling pretty good about myself!
That is EXACTLY what I did. 😂So it better count haha. I had my parents drop me off like right at the gate, and then my sister picked me up…right at the gate. I only had to do the flying part alone. (IT WAS STILL STRESSFUL AGH.)
Hello Cait!!
It’s great to be reading your posts again, but also nice that you took a break! 🙂
Congratulations on achieving your dream! It must have felt amazing to see your book in the store!! I hope I get to experience that next year 🙂
Also, Lismore! My friend used to live there and I visited, and I hadn’t realised that’s where your novel was set. Very cool, it helps me visualize even more now. 🙂
I had a good month, very very busy with the writing, and actually I just finished a first draft this morning, so that is very exciting! Now I am also up to the editing parts… sigh. A bit less exciting.
And I’m just finishing up reading The Astonishing Colour of After, and frankly, it keeps making me cry. It is beautiful, but bloody hell, it also makes me feel very sad. I actually put it down a few times to read other stuff and have a breather, but now I’ve only got a few pages left.
I really loved it though.
But also… blurg.
🙂
Aww, thanks Poppy!! 💛It was nice to be able to switch-off from blogging for a while, though of course I missed chatting to everyone. And ahhh so awesome you know Lismore too! (I lived there for about 7 years and really liked it.) And omg congrats on finishing off another first draft! Always SUCH an exciting feeling!!
Yay for seeing your book on an actual shelf!!! I am encouraging everyone and their uncle to read it. 🙂 (It seems like an uncle sort of book, right? Maybe?)
I’ll be sure to encourage people to write reviews too. Glad you enjoyed your holiday!
IT IS ABSOLUTELY SUCH A GOOD FEELING. An aww! I so appreciate you rec’ing it to people, Nicole. Means the world to me. 💛💛💛
I’ve also taken the longest break so it’s really nice to see a large section of Paperfury blog posts that I need to go through.
I’m SOOO happy you were able to find your book in the bookstore! It really is eye-catching and holy moly – 1000+ reviews on Goodreads. That really is awesome and I’m so happy for you. I’m even more excited for the cover reveal of your next book. I wonder if it will allude to Goldilocks and the three bears???
Ps: your cousins are adorable <3
Aww thanks for reading them!! YOU LOVELY BEAN. 💛💛 And omg just my life was made seeing it in a bookstore!! Sometimes I still have to pinch myself that I even did this?!? It’s not a dream!! AHHHHH.
