Look I’m never going to cease to be offended by how short the month of February is.
Every year I prepare myself and every year??? Pure betrayal. We’re now 2 full months into this year and I’ve accomplished NAUGHT and I blame this on February for no particular reason than it has hurt my feelings by being so short. *
Despite my trauma, I’m back with another #AmCurrently update which I’m using as my end-of-month recappy things now. I still haven’t quite decided how to tackle this year’s recaps despite forcing you all to vote last month. But I was a little tired of the average recap version last year so —> watch me do the same thing but slightly differently with more snack breaks.
You go, Cait, you smart thing.
No but really (!!) my point is hopefully to talk more about life so we can see I’m somewhat human (ugh) and plus write something a little shorter.
* Yes sometimes people call me overdramatic???? But they are wrong????
MY BOOK’S TWIN BROTHER ARRIVED WHICH FILLS ME WITH DEEP HAPPINESS.
(If you haven’t added A Thousand Perfect Notes on Goodreads then what are you doing.)
Last month I was lowkey freaking out over holding my book for the first time. This month = I held TWO. And now I can make the full butterfly which is obviously the reason the world is still spinning. I am pleased. So so pleased. Obviously these are still the ARC covers but I think the finished copies will do this too. Ergo you might need two.
This is not part of my evil world domination plans AT ALL.
97 DAYS TO GO UNTIL YOU MEET BECK AND AUGUST AND EVERY TRAGIC THING I PUT THEM THROUGH.
- GUESS WHAT I WAS READING LAST WEEK?!? Yes. This.
- Possibly for the last time and I just…
- I usually have two emotions: going very fast and being very hungry. So this range of feelings is overwhelming and I don’t even know what to do with myself.
- Now JUST IN CASE YOU WANT TO READ IT EARLY (!!) you can request it on Negalley UK!
- Also just going to leave this here:
- mOST reQUEStED.
- At some point I’ll calm down on fangirling over my own book, but I’m a book blogger ok?!? It’s very hard to change. Someday I will pat my pockets and find some author sensibility soon I’m sure.
- It was also in the Hachette Australia catalogue, which is pretty normal for a book, obviously. BUT YET SOMEHOW VERY EXCITING TO ME.
- Plus I’m next to Sandhya Famous Menon which is unreal.
- And I have a face woah.
- Also preorder links in case you haven’t yet because a rogue buffalo attacked your house recently and distracted you: Book Depository, Amazon, Booktopia.
- And I wrote my acknowledgements which made me realise this is, in fact, a real book.
- (OH.)
- And no I don’t actually have any control over who gets ARCs so you have to submit requests to my publisher (Hachette UK) and I also only have two, so I might do a giveaway but also they’ll cry if the butterfly breaks so we’ll see.
- Also I am currently editing A Thing™ and I can’t wait to whisper-shout more about it at you.
Last month I said I was off for 3 weeks travelling + visiting my sister…Well I LIVE.
Which is actually surprising because travelling stressing me out about as much as eating a bowl full of bees. But my (oldest) sister just had her 4th baby and it is ridiculously adorable and cried when I held it but whatever. I would cry if I realised I’d been born into this family-line too.
I used to live 5mins away from this gaggle of nieces/nephews, so…I REALLY MISS THEM. It was only 4 months since I saw them last but they all had the audacity to (a) grow taller and (b) develop sassy attitudes. I don’t know who they’re related to.
- My 5yo niece is an Intense Craft Wraith and if she didn’t have sticky tape in one hand, we assumed she wasn’t well.
- I got sticky-taped.
- Also I tried to colour a rainbow faerie picture for them and all the 2yo did was criticise my colour choices.
- I mean.
- We made ice cream.
- They ate my ice cream while it was still whipping in the ice cream maker.
- My new smol baby nephew puked on me and then had the nerve to later fall asleep on me hanging onto my shirt and I just??? I was trying to be mad here. How dare you be so cute.
- Every time he opens his eyes though, he looks so so 500% Done™ with the world.
- His faces range from (a) Why Do You Exist (b) Please Remove The Sun I Don’t Want It (c) If I Sleep Will This All Go Away.
- Relatable.
- I also went to the library!!! Obviously the true reason I visited!! Who cares about family!!!
- I don’t have a library where I live now (I do nOT count 1 shelf of YA that I’ve already read as a library smh) and I borrowed 11 books here and got through almost all of them.
- And on the roadtrip home we visited another sister (3rd one of 4 one this time) (yes I have too many) and I stalked her library as well.
- So this was basically a library-crawl, and both beautiful and painful because I want a reAL LIBRARY IN MY OWN TOWN.
- I reviewed some of them here, so go see!
- Back to the terrible reality of only reading from my TBR pile. Which has, like noooooo books on it of course. Ha. #YesImLyingButLibrariesAreSpecialAndIMissItOk
- And by the time we got back after nearly the whole month away…boom.
- So I’m now 2 years behind on my TBR pile and if you can’t find me, I’m under all of this. So I guess I won’t whine about the library too much. (Except it’s excellent for backlist titles I didn’t get a chance to review early!? #Agony)
Anyway it was a good time and I miss these smol humans terribly.
ACTUAL CONVERSATIONS THAT HAPPENED
Me: I’m going home tomorrow.
2yo: No you can’t.
2yo: who will carry all my stuff
Me: Do you like your new baby brother?
2yo: *concentrates on eating her snack*
2yo: nah
2yo: *sings 13 minute made up solo for me to listen to*
Me: *actually times it*
I somehow read 18 books this month even though I had child-shaped limpets hanging off me most of the time?!?
Amazing. Although for the first time ever I was actually behind on my Goodreads challenge. Either (a) my dark powers are crumbling around the edges or (b) I’m working on a lot of freaking fantastic OTHER THINGS that someday you will hear about. So. Let there’s that.
It’s weird to admit I can’t do EVERYTHING…but I will still try.
#SlytherinOverachieverUntilDeathDoUsPart
Some of these are from Allen & Unwin, Bloomsbury, Tor Teen, Walker Books, and various book boxes! Or bought by meeee with book vouchers and THANK YOU library sales again! And also my wonderful friend Danielle sent me two and I don’t deserve her wonderfulness. (Go see her bookstagram!! Rainbow heaven!)
FROM NETGALLEY OR EDELWEISS OR OVERDRIVE!
(That moment w hen you never get approvals and then you get all the approvals ahah haha. Oh n o.)

If you hover / scroll over these they’ll flip (aka — FLIP OUT which is what we all want to do) and you can see my mini-review and star rating! Click to go to the full review!
Okay fangirl moment, but The Foxhole Court was SO GOOD. It’s an indie series and I just couldn’t stop reading?! (They’re like less than a dollar on Amazon!) They’re messy and the writing isn’t perfect but…but the characters. I am here for complex characters that break and make you. It’s also super dark at times and just yes please. I also read them in all of a rush because I couldn’t stop.
I’M REALLY ADDICTED OK. DON’T SEND HELP.
SO, WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO?
- Besides visiting family….NOTHING.
- I cry a little. I weep a bit.
- This time last year I’d written 200,000 words already so here’s to hoping I actually get back into writing soon?! But so far I’m doing a lot of editing on Secret Projects™ which is as ridiculously exciting as you can imagine. This gets to be my job now . ohhhhh.
- But I do want to draft something new soon!!
- Anyway I have been obsessing over The Foxhole Court.
- And finishing my Red Rising series reread!!
- Now I’m starting to reread The Raven Cycle (AGAIN) because I have no life to speak of.
- Also doing a TON of unboxings on instagram, definitely go admire and if you’re keen to try any of them out, I also have discount codes!
- Boxes make me so happy. Deep inside, I am actually a box.
- I reached 20K on twitter! Which is both mind blowing and also terrifying because…pressure?! But if you’d all just buy my book pls and thx we’ll be great.
- Also the saga of my mammoth bookstagram background art project continues…slowly. Like a dead turtle. I’m dying a bit inside because I ran out of colours and have to wait A WEEK for new ones to arrive and I just. Why can’t I pick nice normal and small projects. Why am I like this.
- Onwards March! Let’s get many things done!
CAIT YOUR NEPHEW IS TOO CUTE.
But his eyes look like Satan’s? Not being rude here, I think your books had an influence on him…
And wow I see where your insanity comes from. Having so many sisters is not okay! I have one and she drives me nuts, thank you very much.
February was so short and where did it go away cause I got nothing done!
Also where can I ask for an arc of your book except for Netgalley because it rejected me 😢 why am I international 😭
Lol I legit imagined a girl running with a copy of your book in one hand and a boy running from the other side with another copy in his hand and they both meet to complete the gorgeous butterfly cover BLAME BOLLYWOOD NOT ME.
HE IS SO CUTE AND GORGEOUS AND I LOVE HIM AND HE’S GROWING UP SO FAST AFJDSKALD. Also I have a lot of sisters buuut they can be handy if they live next to good libraries. 😂 Still if you want one let me know. I will sell so fast. Ahem.
Aww no I’m so sad Netgalley rejected you!😭😭
And hey that sounds like an amazing idea. THE COVERS UNITE AND WORLD PEACE COMES UPON THE EARTH. *fireworks begin*
AHAHA NO. One sister is enough lol and she is just a year younger than me which makes it worse.
Oh well, now I’ll actually buy the book so that’s a bonus haha!
YESSS. YOUR BOOK WILL BRING WORLD PEACE
So first off I feel the need to apologize because I haven’t visited your blog in what feels like forever!? I am sort of regretting setting myself this deadline because I literally just forgot February was such a short month!? (And then, of course, every four years I’m surprised/annoyed that it’s such a LONG month.) I’ll also be on vacation part of April/May so I know I won’t have time to finish it then, and I’d LOVE to have it done beforehand. I’m so glad you got another ARC! Gahhh, they’re SO PRETTY!!
PFft no apologies ever needed! I mean I blogged like half as much as usual in February anyway.😂 . It’s really hard to blog when little children are crawling up your head but anyway. I just…gah, February is so short IT’S RUDE. I never get enough done hahah. But I hope you have a good vacation in April! *sends chocolate to speed on the revisions*
Aw man that is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COVER. <3 All the heart eyes, all the heart eyes.
Your family is so cute, too, little nymphs or not.
AHH I HAVE SO MANY HEART EYES TOO😍😍 Cute baby. Cute book. CUTE EVERYTHING.
Your nephew is so adorable! I love the term ‘library crawl.’ I want to get an Owlcrate but the shipping seems so expensive. I agree that February did feel really short. January felt really long.
It’s so true right?! January is too long and February is too short. Why can’t they share days a bit.😂😂 And I do think Owlcrate is worth it but definitely expensive gah. But I have a 10% off code if you’re ever interested!
CAIT CAIT IM SCREAMING I GOT A PHYSICAL COPY ARC OF YOUR BOOK TODAY AND I PRaTICALLY SCREAMED OMIGOSH!! And I accidently started re-reading it, OOPS! But beck and august and ahhhhh *wails* I LOVE AND MISS THEM SO MUCH ALREADY!! The Wicked Deep is quite good and THE PLOT TWIST!! But I think it erased ace/aro people a lot because at one point it was like “And she had loved someone. And what was more human than that?” AND LIKE romantic love dosen’t make people human, ugh. But I think the book was still good as a whole (even tho that rlly annoyed me tbh) and I really enjoyed it!
I’m probably never gonna read BEfore I Let go. apparently it’s boring and like, not good ace-aro rep and it just dosen’t interest me. BUT OMIGOSH SKY IN THE DEEP!!
AND EEK BOOKMAIL IS THE BEST THING EVER SO MUCH FOR YOU ENJOY EATING THEM!! AND YOUR NEPHEW IS SO CUTE AND S IS THE REST OF YOUR FAMILY!! FEBRUARY IS SO SHORT IT LITERALLY JUST FLEW BY!! AND IM SCREAMING SO MUCH SO I SHALL LEAVE NOW.
I’M SCREAMING TOO YOU LITERALLY MAKE ME SO VERY HAPPY. AND OMG YOU STARTED REREADING IT, YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE ME CRY ILSA. <3 <3
Ohhh that sucks about The Wicked Deep. I think those kind of lines are rarely meant with malicious intent but it is always disappointing when people think romantic love is the pinnacle of life. *eyes roll* But daang and Before I Let Go is bad on the aces too!? 😭😭 Why is it so hard to find good ace books.
I find it impossible to re-read books but somehow I can reread ATPN???! I DONT THINK IVE EVER RE-READ A BOOK BEFORE WHAT IS THIS MIRACLE!
yeah 🙁 and idk, before i let go, apparently the author MIGHT be ace-aro herself but I heard there was like mixing up between asexuality and aromanticsm and they’re not the same thing but the book implies that they are? hjagsd, idk!
That was kind of a problem I heard about with Miles Away From You…the author was said to be demi and the main character was demi…but he was sooo not?! And I mean, I didn’t really comment on it in my review because *I’m* not and it’s out of my lane. But a ton of demi reviewers were like: THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS IS. So it must be really hard to not be educated enough on your own label, but also somewhat understandable I guess? But also damaging to readers, so UGH EVERYTHING IS HARD.
SKY IN THE DEEP YAAAS. -pterodactyl screech- -coughs- Anyway…
Your smol children-people that you visited are much cute. Seems like the little 2 year old was willing to hire you to carry things. You’d probably only be paid in beetles and rocks, though.
*SCREECHES WITH YOU* I’m so excited for it!!
And honestly the two year old had my whole life planned out for me. She’d even get me toy trains/cars to play with before I went to bed so I didn’t get bored. How lovely is that.
February’s special but, yeah, too short, too cruel for my reading list. And I WANT YOUR BOOK NOW, AHHHHH. And I can’t wait to see how they’ll translate it to spanish (cuz they have to cuz they MUST do it for the good of humanity). AWWWWW, THEY’RE SO CUTE, now I want nieces (!!) 18 boOkS!? I need your superpowers. BTW, I’m a home-loving-hobbit cause who wants to interact with cruel muggles? hUh? Besides, the sun, ugh (I DO love life in general, though)
It will have to sell Spanish rights before it gets translated.😂 So we can hope and have fingers crossed though!
Also home living hobbit life fOR THE WIN. It is the best way to live. :’)
February passed by like lightning. I don’t mind though. This means that there’s only 5 weeks left til summer vacation. SUMMER SUMMER SUMMER. I’m feeling the HSM vibes here.
It’s funny that you’re asking about my TBR pile. Of course it has inflated like mad. WHAT ELSE IS NEW? THIS IS THE LIFE OF A BOOK DRAGON.
I really liked Jonathan Stroud’s Lockwood and Co. series. It just has the right amount of blood and creepiness in it.
I LOVE MY HOBBIT HOLE. Don’t get me wrong. I love to travel but I don’t have the time nor the money so I’m pretty much holed up here. I’m not complaining either. I love to be at home. Hell I almost don’t have time at home because of school. Also, HOME + BOOKS = PERFECTION.
And Cait? Read Magnus Chase 3 now. The Norse gods are getting angry.
*tries to send apology cupcakes to the angry Norse Gods* I WILL GET THERE I PROMISE. DON’T CRY FOR ME MAGNUS, I’M COMING.
Yes but summer for you is winter for me. So I cry.😂😂
And honestly do any of we bookworms have our TBRs under control?! I think not. (Also I really need to read a Jonathon Stroud book!! I loved the graphic novel of one of them, but I haven’t actually read a full book yet.)
HOBBIT HOLE LIFE FTW.
I was sort of productive but honestly? IT WAS TOO SHORT WHERE DID MY MONTH GO I DEMAND COMPENSATION. uhmmm I’m on a book buying ban (I know it’s the worst but I need to save money) so the last thing I got was an ARC… (scrambles to look it up) Someone I Used to Know by Patty Blount! It’s about rape culture and sexual assault so it isn’t just going to be a chill sunday afternoon read, but I try to stay educated and aware of the things going on so I think it’ll be a super eye-opening read!
Uhhhhmmmm I can’t think of one! I’m awful at finishing series’ so I haven’t finished one in awhile… oops? I need to read the last of the Winner’s Curse books and finish Throne of Glass(only because I want to read Tower of Dawn, I lost much of my interest after QoS), and like a million other series SO THAT’S GREAT WOW.
traveling is great but honestly I could be curled up in my bed at home with my cat and a good book and a candle and it would be so much better so I guess I’m a home-loving hobbit! I like adventures sometimes but staying home is usually better anyway.
What ifffff…January and March each donated a day to February?! Like then they wouldn’t be ridiculously long AND February wouldn’t continue offending us!! I mean it’s such a win situation!!
And wow that sounds like a super heavy book, best of luck with it.😭😭Actually wait I read her debut I think?! I really liked it but it was also about sexual assault and very hard to read.
The Winner’s Curse books are AMAZING! I totally lost interest in Throne of Glass too I’ll admit. 😂😂
That is an amazing idea. When you finally take over the world, please promise me you’ll enforce thatttt.
I don’t usually read super heavy books but I try to get out of my comfort zone every once in awhile and read something with an important theme that brings awareness to pertinent and important issues! Oh you did? That’s interesting.
I NEED to finish the Winner’s Curse books before I shrivel up and die omg. I just got the audiobooks so hopefully I can just breeze through them! (and by breeze I mean read fast and probably die because emotions). Honestly the only reason I’m continuing with Throne of Glass is because I’m unrealistically hoping Chaolaena will happen or at least Chaol will be happy and that at some point the books will get good again because Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight were SOLID good books and idk maybe it’ll make a comeback? Ugh, it’s ridiculous, I know.
Yes February is too short and I am offended, I didn’t get nearly as much done as I was hoping to! I mean sure I read a couple of books, did my work placement for Uni, finished a 1000 word essay, wrote blog posts and articles for The National Student, but still……not enough. I got my critique partner notes back for my completed novel and yes it may have hurt my heart a little to read criticism of my precious baby but I think it’s going to be a lot better for it and I’ve finally got the editing ball rolling, so that’s good. I’m also working on my other project, though I feel like I’ve abandoned it a little lately, so I want to try and get back to it a little more this month. I’ve been adding mostly 2019 and 2020 releases to my TBR pile recently and it’s making me physically hurt because I want these books so much and I have to wait for them! I’m currently obsessing over The Exact Opposite of Okay because it’s absolutely brilliant and I swear the author pulled Izzy O’Neill right from my brain, that’s how similar we are! I do love travelling, I have a serious case of wanderlust and want to go everywhere-if I ever get my books published, I imagine touring will probably be my favourite part of being an author cause I love going new places. I got your book on Netgalley and I’m so excited to read it, minorly offended that I have other Netgalley reviews that are due first so I can’t read it right away tbh!
See this is such the problem?!? It’s not *US* who don’t utilise February enough. IT’S FEBRUARY’S FAULT!!! IT SHOULD BE LONGER!! *throws papers and storms out*
Adn aww I understand how tough reading critiques is. I got critiques back a few week and my first instinct is always despair and tears, but then?? It gets a bit exciting. Knowing you can make things better! AND you get to work on your baby again. <3 I love that.
Omg 2020 releases?! Don't tell me.😂 I'll die.
AHH!!! So glad you have a character you love/relate to so much?!!
*screams softly* Omg I'm so happy you're going to read my book! 💖💖💖
PRETTY BUTTERFLY! XD
If I had to pay a pound for every hour of procrastination, I would be bankrupt and homeless. February was too short and I am drowning in things I need to do. :'(
Have a great March!
Honestly if I had to pay a dollar for every hour of procrastination I would be bankrupt and homeless. *hi fives for our life failings* I mean I CAN be motivated.😂 When I’m not so tired haha. I hope March is productive and awesome for you too!
Awww your sister’s baby is so cute. Can’t wait for your book, June is so far away. Going to Netgalley to request for your book right now. February went by so fast but it looks like you had fun.
AHhhh I hope you get approved! FINGERS CROSSED.😂 And omg cute baby is so adorable I can’t even.
That 2-year old sounds awesome. 😂 Wonder who they got the sarcasm from… 😜
Your book is beautiful! I need it! (Please tell me that when it comes out you get to do a book tour all over the world and will come to Calgary so I get to meet you)
And wow so much mail. I never get mail. You’re popular. 😂
NOT ME OF COURSE. I AM SO SO KIND AND NOT SARCASTIC EVER😂 (But seriously the level of sass from this tiny 2yo is ridiculously great.) She throws a ball at me and is like “Oh I broke your leg.” I mean, child. What gives??😂
Omg book tour over the world…😂I will just settle to see my book in a bookstore once!!
It is a month’s worth of mail though haha.
It’s so cool that your books make a full butterfly. That does seem like an ingenious way to sell everybody two copies. Your nephew is adorable! I hope you have a great March!
So true right?!😂 I mean I wasn’t the mastermind behind that but i am SUCH a fan of the designer.😂
If you really like boxes maybe you’re a cat not a box on the inside. Cats really like boxes. You can put pieces of tape in a square on the ground and a cat will come and sit in it. So will a small child, though, as I figured out while testing this.
Your book looks so pretty connected! But, considering from what I know about it, the prettiness of the cover is mildly misleading.
But it sounds like you had a busy month, and you were traveling for basically the entire time, and Cait, that sounds EXHAUSTING. I don’t know how you’re still alive.
That actually makes a LOT of sense because I also walk out of the room when humans enter and I like to sit in sunny spots and I believe people should feed me and adore me….so like?? Where is the lie. I am a cat.
Pffft, AINE. Of course my book is happiness and fluff!! I mean that first line is…nothing. *covers the bloody beginning with rainbows*
I am exhausted though. I am really exhausted.😂
Awww your baby nephew is so cute and his eyes look so relatable 😅 and omg February is over already agh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why don’t we just take the months with 31 days and take away each of the extra days to make all of the months 30 days? Like that makes sense.
Also my vote for what to read next is SKY IN THE DEEP because a) it’s on my tbr and I what’s your opinion and b) it sounds freaking awesome. Also I am currently obsessing over The Maze Runner (on The Death Cure and just leave me alone to die 😭) and The Grisha Trilogy.
Isn’t he just?!😂He’s just so 500% done with every photo and he’s only 1 month old.😂 Bless him. AND SEE THAT’S HOW I FEEL ABOUT FEBRUARY!! January is WAY too long, so why can’t it share some days??? Let’s be logical here.
Omg good luck with the Death Cure. That one is not kind on the feels. (When you finish the Grisha books are you going to read Six of Crows?! It’s beyond incredible.
Definitely reading Six of Crows after the Grisha and possibly everything else by Leigh Bardugo until she stops writing books or a meteor strikes destroying humanity thus for forcing me to stop
Honestly I like how you sum up your interest in reading Bardugo books here.😂
I LOVE YOUR AMCURRENTLYS. Wow, sounds like you were busy! But huzzah for visiting cute familiiiies. And your full butterfly book! :O Oh my word, your package explosion, just. WOW. I’m dying because have like FOUR review books and you always have so many. XD
I’m in shock that February is over, honestly. I… don’t know what happened. O.o We definitely need a refund on that month. *coughcough* And I’ve hardly written this year yet and it’s killing meee. T_T But I’m honestly excited it’s March because my birthday month and March Magics (wherein I celebrate one of my favorite authors, Diana Wynne Jones) and yes.
I hope you have a magical March and that you get to read a lot of amazing books and write agaiiiin!
AHH I’M SO GLAD!!! At least I have actual lifey things to report because I’ve been doing stuff for once.😂And eeeeep, the review-books are a *little* overwhelming right now. But I’d still rather have plenty of options over not enough, right?! Hehe.
Omg you wrote a box short story! I will check it out!😂
Why can’t January and March each donate a day to February??? Then it’d be so much more balanced. (AWK YOU ARE GROWING OLD IN MARCH. *sends cake in advance*)
(ALSO I LOVE THIS IDEA OF YOU BEING A BOX. I wrote a short story from the POV of two boxes who go on adventures and carry books at a library sale and I can so see you being this. XD https://talesfromamodernbard.blogspot.com/2017/04/inanimate-objects-challenge-tale-of-two.html)
Baby’s are too cute so they can survive as they puke, pee and poop all over you. Trust me, I know. Two year olds are also brutally honest haha.
Your book looks so pretty next to each other!
I know right?! Like they’re totally mannnerless monsters and still we love them. He also peed on me hugely.😂And yet STILL I love him, I don’t even know… And omg 2 year olds are hilarious.😂She’s the sassiest little thing ever and it’s just so adorable.
OKAY BUT CAIT I AM ACTUALLY DYING FOR YOUR BOOK OKAY. Dyiiiiing I tell you. I need it so bad i would sacrifice my liver for it. Also I know you love smol humans so I’ll send you ALL the baby pictures once my daughter, Emma, is born into this world. HAHA ALSO I’m reading More Than We Can Tell by Bridget Kemmerer and the best friend of the girl is called CAIT. Like exactly that and every time I read that name I think of you so I instantly love her even though she’s not like you at all. BUT THE NAME THOUGH. THE NAME.
Also am going to make it a priority to re-read The Foxhole Court so I can finish the series because I NEEEED my boys in my life.
I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE ALL THE PICTURES OF BABY EMMA AHHHHH. *flails for you* And omg I hope you end up liking ATPN my day will be made then. 💕💕 No pressure though of course. 😂
Omg…I’m about to read More Than We Can Tell and now I’m terrified?! I’ve never had my name in a book before (Except like ONE LINE in Three Dark Crowns where I was the granny)😂
It was gooood. Rev made my heart ache and I had emotions Cait. A lot of them. So read it!
February would be too short if I hadn’t been looking forward to a camp next weekend. Sorry, I’m extrovert, though shy, and I like people.
Four sisters! I haven’t got any. I’ve got four brothers and iI love them, but they’re not sisters. Not giving me nieces or nephews yet either. Two of them are older and still single.
Ah! I hope the camp is tons of fun for you!! And feel free to buy a sister off me tho. I only have 1 brother and that’s too much.😂
Sorry that your brother is too much.
I’ve actually come to be quite content with no sisters. I get my own room and I feel a sister would intrude on my time more. Brothers leave me alone about the amount of time I want. They’re still good at talking about books and philosophy. Or being talked at when I forget to find out if they’re interested.
An older married sister would be nice though. Never thought of that before because my longing for a sister started a bit before my youngest brother was born, and I focused on the realistic. Don’t have money to buy a sister with.
And cause I am shy, especially with my feelings, I’m not good at adopting them.
I’M SO EXCITED FOR YOUR BOOK CAIT! I’m pretty much counting down the days until it’s released so I can finally read it!
I think I had a good reading month? I read 27 books but they were all manga volumes that I can read in a day so that counts. And I managed to get halfway through my reading challenge already because I only challenged myself to read 55 🙈
AND YES FEBRUARY IS SO SHORT. Why did the calendar makers decide to make one month so short??
I’M SCREAMING, THANK YOU, LOUISE!! I just hope it lives up to expectations. 😂😂 And omg 27 books?! You are an amazing magical creature! You’ll smash that reading challenge for sure.😂
(I feel like March and January should just give up a day each and make February normal size????)
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LOOK AT THAT SQUISHY HE’S SO CUTE <3 <3 <3
wow. thats a LOT of mail.
i mean, i like traveling, but i need an hour or so before bed with some quiet and wifi, because what about that blogs i follow??? instagram??? MY SIMS???? i have like 28 and they're all named after fictional characters and WHAT WILL THEY DO WITHOUT ME.
so basically i will only travel under strict conditions.
Most crazily, ~Olive
HE IS SO CUTE I WANT TO SQUISH HIM FOREVER AJFKDSLAD. I’m so sad I have to live so far away. 😭😭
And exactly, right? Like travelling is all well and good but WIFI. I need it. I guess some people don’t need wifi to function but *snorts* WIFI MY LOVE.
Aww your nieces and nephews are the most adorable things!
I am so excited for your book, I know it’s going to be brilliant!
THEY ARE SO CUTE I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. And omg thank you about my book. <3 I hope it doesn't let you down!
Great post, Cait! HAPPY MARCH and best of luck with all your goals for this month!❤️
AGH YOUR BOOK IS SO BEAUTIFUL. *tear* I can’t wait until I can hold it. Also, your nieces and nephew are so cute! His facial expressions are 1000% percent relatable.😂Annddd you reread To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before?! I hope you get around to reading the most of the series soon, it’s just so amazing.
Ahh thanks, Olivia, you lovely bean! I’m so glad you like my book cover, I’M SO HAPPY TOO. *flails forever* And those nieces/nephews are the death of me with their levels of adorable.
I’m absolutely definitely going to actually finish the Lara Jean books this time.😂 Instead of procrastinate so long I keep forgetting the first ah haha.
THE BOOKSTAGRAM PROJECT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL THOUGH. Such creative. So beauty. And book twins!!! That is REALLY EXCITING. And duh of course you are the most requested, because we’ve kind of been waiting for this day since…idk 1994? And now it’s finally time 😀
I love your flippy cover things. I am jealous and wish blogger was cool enough to support that. At least I don’t think it can? Actually I’m not sure haha.
Hope you have a great March, Cait! My favorite baby pic is the one where the baby’s crying haha
AHH THANK YOU. But honestly I’m about to stab my eye with a pen for how long it’s taking lmao. 😂😂 (It better be gloriously worth it at the end.
And omg you’re too nice to me about my book. I’ve definitely been waiting since 1994 too.
(are you on WordPress?? It’s just a widget called “image caption hover” and it’s SO much fun.😂 Makes me look like a super clever blogger when I really am not at all.)
Ugh yes I just had such a weird February because I moved in and out of a city. But I did go tramping and meet other book bloggers and LEAVE HOME so it was all quite full in. I really wanted to do some writing, because I know that uni is gonna take up lots of my time now and I really want to edit and/or draft some new stuff. I just gotta make the time for it I guess. One exciting thing that’s happening in March is that there is a cultural festival where I live now! So I’m gonna go to some events ( they’re not ya but still cool) and I’m excited. I’m really happy for you and your book )and your cute nephew, he’s great and hilarious). I just know that you’re a good writer, and being an author is exactly the right thing for you to so, and it’s just utterly marvellous that it’s finally happening
Moving out is kind of only A REALLY HUGE DEAL eeeee. I’m glad you’re settling in though, and I hope uni is treating you nicely and not too overwhelming?! *sends cake* Also the cultural festival sounds AMAZING. I went to a multicultural festival when I was like 8 and all I remember is eating turkish delight and being disappointed about it. 😂
Awww thank you Shanti, you’re gonna make me tear up here. 💕💕💕
WOW! 18 books? That’s a TON! I WISH I could even read half of that amount. Also, congrats on your book! It’s been really interesting seeing the process of your book becoming public. It’s given me an insight/side that I haven’t ever seen and has motivated me to want to continue with the book I hopefully would like to publish soon.
Ahh thanks, Jared!! I’m really honoured you enjoy hearing about my publishing journey. 💕💕 Seriously makes me so glad!! And I hope I’m cheering on your published book someday soon too!
Yeeeeee!!!! Glad you got to see your nieces and nephews! And so happy you finally found a library where you can check out millions of books to your leisure! 😀 I haven’t been to the library that much lately (which is eating away at my very soul) but at least I can still buy books at my leisure (YAAAYY!!) and use such books for my daily book photos! And I’m so jealous that you got so many books in the mail! I hope you enjoy all your fantastic reads and I hope your March is a cool month for more reading! 😀
It was so so nice to be able to see them again!! Although sadly no for the libraries.😂 I could only check out books for the 2 weeks I was visiting…so definitely no leisure reading. It was like a mad cram to get them all in.😂
February isn’t short enough! Spring is my favourite month and my birthday is in March (read as: excuse to get books from relatives) so I’m happy it’s over so quickly. Although I also feel I’ve done like… 0% productive in February. After a successful January, too! I’m not even sure what new books I picked up recently, can’t remember if I even left the house all month. Well, I managed to borrow The Lucy Variations from my cousin, so that’s up on top now.
I adore travelling, I’d do it constantly if I could. I always think books are kind of like travelling, too.
I’m so glad January was productive for you though! I’ve done NOTHING all year so that’s fun.😂 (Okay well I edited a book and it was hard work haha. But still. I need to write!!) And ooh I hope you like the Lucy Variations…I’m super curious about that one!
THE BUTTERFLY. MY HEART IS EXPLODING FOR YOU, CAIT! AND THAT 2 YEAR OLD IS TOO CUTE HOW CAN YOU COME UP WITH 13 MINUTES WORTH OF LYRICS!? SHE MUST BE A WIZARD. CAN I BORROW HER
THANK YOU AIMEE I’M EXPLODING TOO AJFDKSLAD MY BOOK IS GETTING ALL DRESSED UP AND PRETTY. (And holy heck this 2yo is a wizard. It was like every time she paused and I said “are you done?” she’d glare at me and keep going.)
Well I like the IDEA of going places, but not the actual TRAVELING part. :/
AND OMG YESTERDAY I FINISHED ICE LIKE FIRE BY SARA RAASCH AND I LOOOOOVE THIS SERIES!!! OMG I WAS SOOOO STRESSED OUT FOR THE LAST 80 PAGES SO MUCH WAS GOING ON!!!!!! It was my first 5 star read of 2018! I haven’t felt that invested in a book in a while! 😀 😀 😀
Saaaame. It’s like the idea of travelling is so much better than leaving the house.😂 Also I loved Snow Like Ashes!
Wow I am so in love with the cover(s) of your ARC that I think I may have a heart attack when the actual cover in released. Can’t wait!!
I agree that February is too short, especially since it is the last month of the summer holidays before uni restarts 🙁 Still, I managed to read ~nine books in that period, which included Sally Green’s Half Bad trilogy which I ABSOLUTELY ADORED. I’m still emotionally traumatised after that ending (even though I knew if was coming after accidentally reading some spoilers)…
I’m so so excited to get the finished copies ajfaksdlad. And they’ll be printing soon so *screams softly*
And yay that you read 9 books that’s honestly amazing! And I LOVE THE HALF BAD BOOKS SO MUCH THEY ARE ACTUALLY MY TOP FAVOURITES.
They’re mine now too 😊
Hi Cait, I’m new to your blog. I saw people bragging about it on Tumblr. I really love it. Also I think you should read Runebinder or Iron Gold, which are also on my To-Read List
Omg, that makes my day!! Thank you so much for stopping by!! 😍 And I’m so excited to read Runebinder and Iron Gold (although Iron Gold is so freaking huge I think it’s going to crush me flat when I read it😂)
AaaaAAAAHHH I just started The Cruel Prince and it’s wonderful! But there are certain tidbits you won’t pick up on if you haven’t read Tithe/Ironside or The Darkest Part of The Forest. I look forward to your posts so much! <3
Ah SUCH a fan of The Cruel Prince! And omg I had read Tithe but forgotten too much and then when they mentioned the characters I was like “SQUEE I KNOW THIS REFERENCE..kind of.” 😂😂
I’ve never wished I lived in the UK more than right now so I could request your book. BUT I do have it preordered, so at least I’ll get to read it right away once it’s out. Yay! I’m glad you survived your trip!
Omg Nicole you lovely thing 😍😍 I’M SO HONOURED YOU’RE GOING TO READ IT!!
I’m so glad you had a lot of fun with your family. The children are so cute <3.
Aww thank you, Gaia!! I’m really glad it was a fun trip AND THESE KIDS ARE THE CUTEST.
So true about how short February is. You’ve ever thought that it doesn’t like being so short maybe? 😀 Like, can you relate? Cause I can. (I know you can too xD I don’t like being short and I recall you saying something similar xDD) So don’t pick on poor February! It’s one of us 😀
Those covers look SOOOO amazing and whoever came up with them was an absolute genius. You were SO lucky with your artists! Wow. And so totally congrats on topping the requests 🙂 your book will be wildly popular!! I’m so happy for you! Like, incredibly so 🙂 it’s so amazing to see a friend and fellow blogger succeed. It makes me feel so good about this whole community too!
LOL he looks SO DONE now that you point it out xD absolutely hilarious 😀
I also think you must not need sleep at all if you managed 18 books with kids on your hands all the time. NO. SLEEP. 😀 actually, I have been reading more than I used to as well, and now I’m facing the odd problem of too many books to review. It’s not that I couldn’t find the days to fill with the reviews, but by god.. No way am I going to write extra posts on my blog, it just takes time and effort and I just get so tired, and then you know the whole thing about comments. So I’ve settled on only posting it on the blog if it’s 3 stars or up, the rest goes on Goodreads and Amazon only, but that still creates a backlog xD so I am just sort of pushing them back now…
And your book haul is amazing!! I am happy for you, but also really intensely jealous xD I am glad you are back, and also, I really, raelly, really like your mandala thing. And I’d actually like to color something like that! Looks great.
Omg I do relate to February’s shortness…I am also far too smol. Although we could fix February by taking a day off March and January and like ??? That would work SO WELL. And I’ll just fix myself by standing on top of more books.😂 Perfect.
Ahhh I am so lucky to have gotten a beautiful cover!! I admit, I was so nervous.😂And the colours are excellent for my bookstagram feed, so like what more could I want here. (And omg thank you for your kind words.😭❤️❤️ It’s seriously such a dream come true and everyone’s support is MINDBLOWING AND LOVELY.)
Ah hahha wait till you start mini reviews.😂 Solves SO many problems. You get through a ton of books = don’t have to answer as many comments.😂
And the art is REALLY fun!! Total recommend! I do it while I listen to audiobooks.
It’s like how me and boyfriend have been saying there needs to be a Strmday (it goes between Saturday and Sunday). I feel like that could solve a lot of problems – the problem of Feb being too short, for one – and also, a lot of our TBR problems 😀 needless to say, it would be part of the weekend, so people would not be required to work – they could just read and blog all day. #want
Okay we are officially nominating you as lord ruler so you can make this happen.😂😂
LOL K now I just need a plan xDDDDD
1) I am so relieved you found Hunted boring. I thought I was the only person on the universe that was let down by that book, especially after all the hype. It’s probably the most unpopular opinion I’ve ever had, and I’ve feared for my life when expressing it on bookstagram.
2) Your nieces and nephews are darling.
3) I am slightly, evilly glad that you are/were behind on your Goodreads goal. It’s more proof that you’re human. 😉
Omg how do people love it? 😂😂I mean that sounds so mean to say BUT I JUST DON’T GET IT I WAS SO FREAKING BORED. And haha, I’m glad I have fallen to mere mortal status to remind you all I am a relatable human.😂
Aww, your new little nephew is precious! Is there a reason libraries in Australia are apparently either feast or famine?? And your background art is impressive! Keep at it!
Sorry it’s taken me so long to comment on this post – between life and computer issues (grrrrr), and WordPress giving me some guff (sigh) – hopefully le technical difficulties shall be corrected!
He is so so adorable! I miss him already! And honestly I think libraries just go by town size. All my sisters live in towns with…actual people in it. My town’s population is like 7,000 and apparently that’s not worth a decent library. *cries* 😂
Don’t ever feel obligated to comment though!! I know how busy you are. 💖
I AM A HOME LOVING HOBBIT. But I also like going places and seeing new things, so??? #confused Also February is way too short. It should be banned.
OH MY GOODNESS, YOUR NEPHEW IS THE CUTEST, SMOLEST LITTLE THING EVER!!!!! Awwwwww!!!
I really, really, really, really, REALLY cannot wait for your book! That cover is just MIND-BOGGLING. I can’t even right now. It’s pretty much the most gorgeous cover I’ve ever seen. Was the whole gorgeous butterfly spread out across the front and back covers similar to what you had in mind when thinking of covers, or was this something that the designer thought up?? BECAUSE WHOA IT IS PERFECTION.
And lastly, HOW ON EARTH DO YOU READ 18 BOOKS IN A MONTH, CAIT. HOW. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS.
YAS TO THE HOME LOVING HOBBITS *hi fives hobbitishly* I like the idea of going places, less so the actual going.😂
And isn’t he just?! Eeep, I miss him so much already.
I’m also hugely happy you like my cover THANK YOU. And honestly I decided to have zero wishes/wants about *exactly* what I wanted it to look like, because I didn’t want to build up expectations, you know? So it was a full surprise to me and I’m so glad I loved it!
I’m always surprised to know that you have a face – not just boots and hands! 😀
It’s definitely a constant shock for us all.😂😂
February has been too short, but at least I got one book a week, which is really hard to do with school work rudely cutting in on my reading time. And my TBR pile you ask? My TBR pile?! Don’t even get me started. I have like 45687 books almost over due to two separate libraries that I haven’t yet read, I have 3 holds available that I need to read before I have to return them, and I really want to re-read The Young Elites since it’s been forever, but I don’t have time at all. Like at all. And also I’m worried I’ll run out of books to enjoy while simultaneously worrying I’ll never read all the books I want to read and I’m just a confused mess right now. Speaking of that library thing, I never realized how fortunate I am to have a library system where I can basically get any book I want pretty quickly. My local library allowed me to pre-hold Children of Shadow and Bone and there were 17 holds, but they got 15 copies, and it became available for me yesterday, which is like a day after release (I was expecting to wait forever but apparently not). My school library which I fully explored a couple days ago is basically half YA, and I’m so happy! so I just realized how completely lucky I am that I never ever have to buy a new or old YA book. Except The Cruel Prince, that had like a month and a half wait for holds, and I just couldn’t deal with the anticipation so I bought it (first book I have bought in 2 years lol.) I’m also most obviously going to pre-order your book, because a) I can finally read a contemporary, which I’ve been meaning to do since I usually don’t read them, and b) it’s basically my most anticipated book since I found out about it. Also the cover is pretty and I’m shallow like that. And I finished the Grisha trilogy a while ago so I have been obsessing over that. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t constantly check on updates on The Folk of the Air trilogy, which isn’t even all out yet but I LOVED THE CRUEL PRINCE so I rest my case. Also the The Wicked King cover is so gorgeous, and that snippet? Oh my gosh I’m already in love and I haven’t even read the whole book (why is 2019 so far away??).
Omg did I just say Childrend of Shadow and Bone? I meant Children of Blood and Bone. Having recently finished the Grisha trilogy apparently had some effects on me 😂
Ah hhahah well MUCH RELATE to all the TBR woes. And honestly you’re pretty amazing for balancing reading and school! I didn’t get much read when I was in school at all. 😂 (And the whole “I’m going to run out of books” while having 39898 you’ll never read before you die is…a basic summary of the bookworm life.😂)
Ah! Children of Shadow And Bone.😂 DON’T EVEN WORRY all these YA fantasy titles are the same anyway, right?!
AWwwww you’ll preorder my boo?! AARUSHI I’M SO HONOURED. *squishes you*
The Wicked King cover just slayed me with gorgeousness. I haven’t read the snippet yet though because I didn’t realise there was one! I need to find it. 2019 come to us faaaaster.
February is too short to do anything with. But then all of 2018 has been like that so idek anymore.
Your nieces and nephews are so cute!
(also omg yes I hear you about the library thing. When I was 9 we moved away from my hometown, which had an awesome library and we moved to a BIG city with an entire library system and access to the books in the whole state, but they really don’t have many good books??? I’m v confused??? when they get a book they get like 100 copies but they don’t get very many different books?)
