We are away at the moment, blogglings! (Camping, drowning, reading…the normal stuff.) But we will get back to you…on the 31st. Here is a freaky book review to keep you company while we’re gone.
Yay for creepy! Yes, really, yay. I know the blurb on this one doesn’t sound freaky, but trust me when I tell you, you can tear this book apart, page by page, but you will never forget the freaky images.
You’re welcome for that rendition of Tangled.
Thank you HarperCollins Australia for the ARC!
Blogglings, this one came out on August 20th.
For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, New Hampshire College Prep is more than a summer program—it’s a lifeline. An outcast at his high school, Dan is excited to finally make some friends in his last summer before college. But when he arrives at the program, Dan learns that his dorm for the summer used to be a sanatorium, more commonly known as an asylum. And not just any asylum—a last resort for the criminally insane.
As Dan and his new friends, Abby and Jordan, explore the hidden recesses of their creepy summer home, they soon discover it’s no coincidence that the three of them ended up here. Because the asylum holds the key to a terrifying past. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried.
Featuring found photos of unsettling history and real abandoned asylums and filled with chilling mystery and page-turning suspense, Madeleine Roux’s teen debut, Asylum, is a horror story that treads the line between genius and insanity.

Oh yeah, that blurb doesn't sound creepy at ALL. Ha.
I love this kind of thing! In fact, I just finished Oblivion yesterday and am working on the review right now! I am excited to add Asylum to my TBR list! Great review Cait! Very well balanced and honest! 🙂 Have fun being away!
/skin-crawls It sounds quite… Interesting…Ooh, you're reading the Selection? It's a good book, in my opinion!Have fun while you're gone!Tabby (http://tabbys-corner.blogspot.com/)
One of my Goodreads friends just recommended this series to me. I'm a little scared to read it though, not sure how I would take a horror novel that is as good as this one. I think I will hold off on it just a little bit longer…
Ohmygosh Cait! Your review is creeping me out! LOL…I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to handle this one! 😉 Definitely sounds like a great mystery/horror read! Thanks to your lovely review, I've convinced myself to request this one from the library! Thanks for the warning about the ending…I'm not a huge fan of "they live happily ever after" – type endings (especially in contemporaries), but I think I might let this one slide! Thanks for another brilliant review Cait! 😀
Awesome review, loved the Sebastian crab reference. I always had trouble distinguishing whether he was a lobster or not. I've ready creepy young adult, but nothing that's actually scared me. On the scare factor, what would you rate it?
I also am a sucker for anything creepy or scary so this one sounds very interesting. I also can definitely appreciate a novel that has an unpredictable mystery too 🙂
