Welcome to Part 2 of Beautiful Books where we talk about our NaNoWriMo novels!
Or any novels! you don’t have to be doing NaNo to participate in the linkup! We’re all here to just shout vaguely about our WIPs (works-in-progress) and probably cry a little or set our hair on fire. Good normal things.
Today’s all about giving us a bit of an “update” on how your WIP is going. You can catch up on Part 1 here where we introduced our projects. (Totally still do the questions even if you missed the linky!) And basically let’s keep motivated and enthused about our projects and not eat through a brick wall.
You’ve got this. I believe in you.
Just like every year, we’re giving our monthly link up “Beautiful People” a small rest so we can focus on “Beautiful Books”. Sky and I host Beautiful Books so we can focus on our NaNoWriMo projects. The format is the same as Beautiful People. We’ll post 10 questions to answer about your WiP — aka your beautiful book. Answer the questions in a blog post of your own and then come back here to link up! Don’t forget to grab the blog button and link to this post.
NOTE: You can do it for ANY novel! You do not need to be doing NaNo to join in!!
DON’T FORGET TO TAKE THE BUTTON!
Or link to this page so anyone can join in!
- Overall, how is your mental state, and how is your novel going?
- What’s your first sentence (or paragraph)?
- Who’s your current favourite character in your novel?
- What do you love about your novel so far?
- Have you made any hilarious typos or other mistakes?
- What is your favourite to write: beginning, middle, or end — and why?
- What are your writing habits? Is there a specific snack you eat? Do you listen to music? What time of day do you write best? Feel free to show us a picture of your writing space!
- How private are you about your novel while you’re writing? Do you need a cheer squad or do you work alone (like, ahem, Batman)?
- What keeps you writing even when it’s hard?
- What are your top 3 pieces of writing advice?
now i haven’t started NaNo yet (arhmm I’m dying I’ve just been too busy) but DO TELL ME HOW YOU’RE GOING?!? any other late starters??? has anything in your novel surprised you as you’re writing??? and what do you love best about NaNoWriMo?
Also feel free to add me as a buddy on the NaNo site! I’ll add you back.
Yop, did the tag ! The questions are super interesting 🙂
I didn’t even begin NaNoWriMo because GUESS WHO CHANGED HER MIND ON HER PROJECT BECAUSE OF WRITER’S BLOCK. i swear to cake i can’t even
Yay so glad you enjoyed it the link up! AGHHH to writer’s block though. 😭
Yay! I love Beautiful Books! I’ve really enjoyed working on my NaNoWriMo WIP! It’s my first year and it’s been a lot of fun. I’ve been hitting my word goal every day, which is 1,000 words. I can’t really write any more than 2,000 per day, I get super distracted really easily!
Eeep, I’m so glad you like them! THANK YOU. And I think 1K a day consistently is absolutely amazing. Good on you!
THIS IS MY FIRST TIME DOING NANO and I’m at 12k!! I AM SO HAPPY?! Like everyone else I knew was like “Oh I’m aiming for 20k or 30k’ and I started dounting myself like? Am I aming too much to go for the 50k? But now, I Am positive I CAN WIN.
But you know what? Everyone screamed at me about outlining and planning. I done…0% of that> Sure I had an idea of where my novel was going but? I AM SUCH A PANSTER WOW.
I WOULD DO THIS! I mean I did part 1 but I want to do a massive heap of all my NaNo secrets about my novel at the end of NaNo?! SO i won’t be linking up to this one, sorry.
DUDE, YOU’VE GOT THIS. THAT’S AMAZING!! *cheers wildly for you* And don’t doubt yourself.😂 Just go for it. And hey if being a total panster is your thing, then you stick to it. 😉
Terribly. I have less than 3000 words. Everything hurts and I’m dying.
Noooo *sends all the motivating cake* I HOPE YOUR STORY STARTS BEHAVING SOON.
I missed the last linkup so I may combine this one and that one an just have a ridiculously long post. XD
Yay sounds good!! Can’t wait to read it. 😀
Yay! Another Beautiful Books! I’ll try to get my post written in the next day or two to share, I am suddenly understanding how addicting these are!!
I’m very excited about how NaNo is coming along! I’m the tiniest bit behind right now because of the weekend (I KNEW the weekend would slow me down, I never ever have time to write on them), but I’ve been managing to write extra words during the week so I’m feeling pretty confident I can catch up easily. That’s not to say I’m still getting my hopes up at reaching 50k, I don’t want stress myself out, but all in all I’m REALLY loving what I have so far <3
AAHHHH I’M SO GLAD! They are so much fun to explore that’s for sure.😂 And eep, I’m really glad NaNo is treating you well. You can definitely catch up (weekends are hard) and I believe in yooooou. I think focusing on enjoying it instead of stressing is like a really big key to having a successful november!
I haven’t joined NaNowriMo. I am writing though. I just am not sure if I will hit the 50,000 count. And Honestly right now my book makes no sense, I mean it does to me, but not to anyone who is reading it. Its all jumbled up. I’m still working on names and I may stop to create an outline so I have some idea where this book is supposed to go. Anyway good luck to all the writers out there!
Llissa
I totally get that! My 1st drafts NEVER make sense to anyone other than me. 😂 one of my biggest “first draft faults” is like adding in characters mid draft or cutting them out haha. Good luck if you go the outline route! I love outlines.
I’m going to get to that 50,000 word count by the end of this month, come hell or high water! I started a project earlier this year and I’m adding words to it for NaNoWriMo.
I started this same project last year but it got deleted (I was devastated for a few days before I picked up the project again). Brush off and move on.
YESSS YOU CAN DO IT, LEAH!! GOOD LUCK!! And it’s good that you’ve already got the tricky beginning out the way too. I hope that helps. 😀
Yay I can’t wait to do this one!! I have it planned for more towards the middle of November because it’s really too soon to tell hahaha
That’s fair!! I can’t wait to see it!
Ooh, if I remember, I’ll do my best to link up with you! (I might actually include it with my weekly update.) I hope you get to start NaNo soon, although if you DON’T… that means I have a very, VERY slim chance of completing before you. (Haha. Who am I kidding?)
Ohhh yay!! I can’t wait to read yours. And omg…I wish you all the best for beating me! I actually feel so left out this year hahaha. BUT! I’m hoping to start this weekend.
But your NaNo story sounds super cool, so you must write it! And I like the questions for this one too. Very motivating! Good luck with NaNo!
Yay good luck to you too, Chelsea!! I’m hoping to start writing this weekend.😂
Awk, I needed this to get my bearings and feel better about my novel at the two-thirds mark of NaNo SO THANK YOU. <3 Also, wait, you seem to have written your NaNo in two days???? :O :O :O IS THIS A RECORD OR SOMETHING? #ICANT
YAY CAN’T WAIT TO READ YOUR POST!! I did finish in 2 days.😂 It’s a record but not the fastest I’ve ever written or anything if that makes sense.😂
