CAN I TAKE A MOMENT? 60 PEOPLE LINKED UP!!!!!
So that is absolutely thrilling and mind blowing.
Welcome to our July Edition!
Also: We know it’s Camp NaNo, so good luck to everyone who’s madly writing!
This is going to be awesome, by the way. I’m excited!
Beautiful People is a meme designed to help writers learn more about their characters. The hosts (that’d be Sky @ Further Up and Further In, folks, oh and also me. I’m wonderful) will give you 10 interview questions for you to answer on your own blogs.
You link up. You have mandatory fun. We eat virtual cheesecake together. What’s not to love?!
The linkup is open all month! It will run on the 5th of every month.
You can check out my announcement post here or jump over to our FAQ here for more details!
If you want to read one, check out Sky’s character interview!
NOTE: If you have a private blog, you’re still welcome to use the questions. Obviously you just won’t have the bonus of meeting and chatting with other writers. But you’ll still get to know your character better. Which is awesome.
Feel free to submit questions for us to use in the future! Here’s Sky’s contact details and here’s mine.
This week we have some questions submitted by Arende and Ashley and Kelly. You obviously rock.
1) Whatβs their favourite food? (Bonus: favourite flavour of chocolate!)
2) What do they absolutely hate?
3) What do they enjoy learning about?
4) Who is the most influential person in their life?
5) What is their childhood fear?
6) What is something they have always secretly dreamed of doing, but thought impossible?
7) What is something he is impractically afraid of?
8) Are they a night owl or morning person?
9) Do they say everything that pops into their head, or leave a lot unsaid?
– Big or small! It’s your choice.
– If you absolutely can’t get the button to link back to my blog, that’s okay! Just make sure somewhere in your post there’s a direct link to my post…that’s so if your bloggly friends want to join in, they know where to go!

Wow, 60 people!? That's awesome. Congrats. :DI'll definitely be doing this again this month though 'cause of Camp NaNo it'll probably be slower in coming. I think I'll probably interview my Camp NaNo MC this time around. π This is turning out to be one of my favourite memes!
I'm so so so amazed at how well it took off and how much everyone loved it. THIS PROVES SKY IS AWESOME BECAUSE SHE INVENTED IT.
*raises hand* ME! I'm doing Camp NaNo! It's so much fun, I'm at about 10k. Trying to get as far as I can while I'm on school holidays because I know I won't have much time when I get back to school. But these are such fun questions!! I think I'm going to save the ones used every month and do them for a few different characters – far too good to waste. On my blog, I'll do my MC's brother this time. I can't wrap my head around him and this might help π
Oooh 10K. After that I always feel like I'm really getting into it. Like the baby stage is over. Hehe.
Doing CampNaNo! Yeah! Not with such a high target this time (15,000), but just to keep the motivation running, you know π And I just linked up!arendedewit.blogspot.com
Wooot! I'm so trying to get to everyone's this time. I died trying to visit 60 blogs though last time. I WILL TRY HARDER.
What a great idea! I think even thinking about small things related to your characters will help bond you to them, which makes your book stronger.
Exactly! And it's fun. Who doesn't like answering questions, right?! π
Eeeep, these are so much fun! π Can you pretty please do this more than once a month?! They're so addictive!
Haha! XD Ooh, we just like to keep your appetites whetted for the next month. x) Oh and I got your questions and am adding them to the list!
Oooh ooh I'm NaNoing! I'm a bit behind my wordcount goal, but I'm hoping to catch up over the weekend. I'm also planning on introducing a second major character, so he's the fellow who'll be featured in my Beautiful People post! However, I don't even have a name for him, so my post might come a little later in the month. I'm also thinking about doing this month's questions with last month's character – not publicly, just for my own benefit. I might just keep tacking on these questions until I fully understand my characters.
That's awesome, 60 people!!I love linkups (this and others) I've been waiting with great anticipation for this month's questions. http://www.barefootinthesnowjack.blogspot.com
Ooh, lovely questions! I may have to join in later this month! :)Also, congratulations about the 60 people!!
I am definitely going to be joining in this month. I had great fun answering the questions last month so I'm definitely coming back for more. Wow, 60 people is a huge amount for the first month back. You should be very pleased with that. Have some virtual cake. No calories so you can indulge as much as you like.I sure am doing Camp NaNo. I'm going pretty well at the moment, being a couple of days ahead of word count. I'm so glad I prescheduled so many of my blog posts though. I'd never be able to keep up with the blog and my novel at the same time! Sadly, I'm not the wonder writer/blogger unlike so many people it seems.
That is amazing that so many people linked up!!
*dances quietly*
Yay for all the awesome link ups. I am now following with Bloglovin' so hopefully I can link up next month. I'm fleshing out my characters now and it will be exciting to be able to share a little about them. Looking forward to visiting more. Love your blog design. π
Thanks for following, Ginny! XD I hope you get a chance….just because it's super awesome fun. I'm already deciding who I'm going to interview. Mwahah. The delicious choice. (And thanks! My sister drew the design, she's amazing. XD)
Man, I'd KILL For more than twenty people to link up to my events π It only shows how much influential you are now that people want to be in whatever you're doing! I'll have to do this too when I get started on my WIP… IF I ever get started, that is…Faye at The Social Potato
*hides* DON'T KILL ME. Heh. Heh. I think my lame sense of humour amuses me the most, honestly. BUT ANYWAY. Of course, look at me with all my influence. *struts around* Although I am co-hosting, so I only get to take half the credit.
Ooh, good luck! Writing is hard. I was nearly tempted to try NaNo. But NAH. I decided to read books instead. x)And that's exactly what these questions are for! Discovering more about your characters! XD
I'm so amazed! And it's all thanks to YOU guys!!
Eeeep. It's pretty exciting, right?!
I AM SO PLEASED WITH IT. *stuffs face* I appreciate the no calories, of course, but it does take away some of the delicious wicked flavour. OH SO YOU'RE AHEAD?! GO YOU! But you always write an insane amount anyway. I really struggle to keep up with reading and writing at the same time. My brain gets mixed. And blogging/writing is hard because fingers get tired.
Yay! 60 people! That's amazing!I had fun doing this. But I suppose I'd better go actually write the story now… a minor detail.~Robyn
I'm NaNoing, so I'll definitely be interviewing my new MC in this month's Beautiful People, though I can't guarantee my answers will be more than simple. Some of these questions are almost tailored to the character development/personal growth of my MC, rather than the deeper, obscure stuff like what's her favourite theatre show/record/architecture.Alex π
Amazing! 60 PEOPLE! I had so much fun writing about my characters!Carly
I was pretty freakishly excited too!!
Eh, writing the story is like not as fun as TALKING about the story, right?
Well, the interviews are mostly to help you as the author discover more about your character. π
I love this link-up! π
I'm doing Camp NaNo, but I'm desperately behind. (I don't even know what I'll be writing yet… augh!)
I'd like to participate, but I don't know how to do the buttons. How would one do that?
You can copy and paste the actual button and it'll already be linked. (Just highlight it and press "control C" (or "command C" if you're on a mac) and them "conrol V" to paste it on your blog. Or alternately, you can highlight the code in the box underneath the button…then flip your blog page to html and add it there. π Let me know if that makes sense? It's a bit hard to explain! (I'm sure there's a tutorial out there with pictures if you google, too.)
Sixty people is fantastic! I thought it was a blast and am glad you started this meme up again! π
