Yay for another round of our character interview link up!
Last month we had a staggering 47 linkers! (Still unsure whether linkers is the right word, but you know what? Who cares. Linkers has a fabulous ring to it.)
Welcome to our August Edition!
Also HUGE congrats to everyone who did NaNoWriMo in July and won! I don’t care what your word goals were: you absolutely definitely deserve chocolate.
Beautiful People is a meme designed to help writers learn more about their characters. The hosts (that’d be Sky @ Further Up and Further In, folks, oh and also me. I’m wonderful) will give you 10 interview questions for you to answer on your own blogs.
You link up. You have mandatory fun. We eat virtual cheesecake together. What’s not to love?!
The linkup is open all month! It will run on the 5th of every month.
You can check out my announcement post here or jump over to our FAQ here for more details!
If you want to read one, check out Sky’s character interview!
NOTE: If you have a private blog, you’re still welcome to use the questions. Obviously you just won’t have the bonus of meeting and chatting with other writers. But you’ll still get to know your character better. Which is awesome.
Feel free to submit questions for us to use in the future! Here’s Sky’s contact details and here’s mine.
– Big or small! It’s your choice.
– If you absolutely can’t get the button to link back to my blog, that’s okay! Just make sure somewhere in your post there’s a direct link to my post…that’s so if your bloggly friends want to join in, they know where to go!

I DID in fact win Camp NaNoWriMo. Although I still have 30 odd thousand words left to write *sobs forever*. In other news I have no idea who I'll interview this time around. Apart from Alice and Charlie most of the characters don't stick around too often…Maybe Daisy? I haven't interviewed her yet. Plus I should really stop writing first drafts and start rewriting, lol. Who are you going to be interviewing? 🙂
Man, I wish I had Lupin to give me chocolate when I finished my book. Yes, I'm officially a Camp NaNo winner! It actually went pretty well. It was an idea I had for a really long time. I tried to write it during NaNo about a year and a half ago and completely failed. So now I made an outline, flashcards, and I had a clear vision of where I was headed. The preparation really helped, as well as a writing buddy.
I luckily managed to fishing Camp NaNoWriMo! 🙂 I mean, it's finished at 50k so it's a fairly short manuscript…and I'm dreading that moment when I open it up again to edit… but it's done! So yippee. Congrats on getting so many link-ups for last month's Beautiful People–I'm super excited for this month. Not sure which character I'm going to interview, but I'll figure that out later. ^_^
I finished my book at 55K, so I think short books are tooootally fine. I mean, fleshing is easier than pruning I reckon. XD BUT YAY FOR YOU. *throws cake in your face*
I finished Camp NaNo, and I'm also close to finishing my novel. I'm taking a break from writing right now, but I should probably resume working on my novel soon. Yay! You used some of my questions! I'll definitely do this linkup, but I'm not sure which character I'll interview. I'll probably end up interviewing my villain or maybe even a character from my next WIP.
Ooooh, I hope you get it done!!! I took, like, a day break from mine and kind of lost the plot. I absolutely can't stop in the middle of a book. >_< And yes, you had awesome questions. XD If you think up anymore, shove 'em our way.
Lupin!! I approve of the GIF. He's my favorite. ^-^Anyway. Love the questions, and I miiiight do this. Not sure yet. I took a break from my latest WIP (bisexual lady assassins/spies/whatever) so I dunno if I want to blog about what I'm writing at the moment.
I love that gif now too. I mean, THANK YOU LUPIN YOU SMART SMART MAN. I'm still mildly devastated he quit teaching, by the way.Oh I totally get not wanting to blog about writing if it's not in progress at the moment. I hardly talk about my books until I'm finished a draft.
Everyone deserves a chocolate every now and then 🙂 Ooh! That's a pretty fancy event for people who are aspiring authors, yeah? I can't wait to follow this event 🙂
I know right? CHOCOLATE. It's like the ultimate answer for everything.
Ahh, Lupin! #feels My Camp NaNo was both a victory and a failure. xD I reached 50000 words, but I'm pretty sure I'll never use any of it. . .oh well, the practice was good. Anyway, I always wanted to participate in this, but I forgot the first two times, so this time, I'll make sure I remember! I have a few characters I desperately need to get to know. 🙂
Ahhh, Lupin! #chocolateugh, I FEEL FOR YOU. *offers consoling cake* I feel exactly the same way with my book (not that it was a NaNo endeavour, but I did just finish it). It's utter rubbish, but rewrites. Rewrites could fix this. *nods*
Oooh I'm doing this sometime this week! I think I'm going to feature my villain. Which means I'm going to have to think up a name for him soon – something other than just Evil Smile, which is what I've been using so far. He's an unsuspected surprise that popped up in my NaNovel (which won! YAY!), so I'm glad to finally have a villain. That's always useful. 🙂
ERMAGERD A VILLAIN! I love my villains. Unfortunately, I usually love my villains more than my protagonists. >.> Oops. Evil Smile is very fearsome. I'm trembling in my boots here.CONGRATS ON WINNING NANO TOO!!!!
Haha he has a name now, thank God, and you will be introduced to him on Friday. 🙂

I might link up later in the month if I figure out a character to interview:) I did camp and set my goal at 10K. I just wanted to focus on writing every day. Until the last week of July I was failing miserably and less than halfway through with my goal. But that last week I managed to write 4K in one day and catch back up and then I ended up finishing 3 days early. Compared to other Camps and Nano's I've done, this was a huge success!
Eep, I'll look forward to it, Jordan. xD Wow, 4K in one day is awesome!! When I'm really working hard (like, lol, which is hardly ever) that's usually my goal, 4K a day or 5K. It's exhausting so I totally know how you feel!! Yay I'm glad you finished NaNo though! Chocolate? Cake? *smushes them all in your hair*
I did a link-up – my first ever!. Thanks for this – it was fun and I'm already looking forward to the next one. For a question what about: Does your character have any allergies or phobias? How does it affect their life?
Ooh, that's awesome! I'll add it to our archives for sure! THANKS BECCA.
I won Camp NaNo! Still have a ways to go on the manuscript though. I'm hoping I can keep up my motivation to finish it sometime soon. Not to mention the three other projects I have on my radar at the moment…
GO KATIE!!! *throws confetti at you* Keep going! GO on! DON'T STOP WHILE YOU'RE ON A ROLL!! I feel for ya with the other projects too. You and me both. I have like a million in my brain at the moment. -_-
Yay. Can't wait to do this month's Beautiful People. I see some interesting questions there. Now I have to decide which character … ~Annie-JoElizabeth
Honestly, deciding which character is the hardest. XD
Definitely.
I think I've finally got the guts to do this. I just need to decide which character will answer the questions. 🙂
YAY, YOU CAN DO IT, TARA. I'm looking forward to reading yours. 😉
Ooh! Nice questions. I need to figure out which character…~Robyn
You and me both Robyn. We should, like, hold polls or something…
That's an awesome idea. Maybe I will do that.~RH
DAISY. YES. That would be awesome to read. And gosh, I feel you with the "I should rewrite not draft"….but drafting is EXCITING. It has this gorgeous lure to it because, you know, new story, new premise. Omg, What glorious things could go down in this novel? And rewriting is hard. *sobs with you*I don't even knoooooow. I'm considering maybe someone from Them Hungry Bones.
Same here, that would be awesome. It's totally a motivational gif, I tell you. Never underestimate Lupin and chocolate. GO YOU FOR WINNING CAMP NANO!! *sprinkles you with confetti and cake crumbs* Outlien and flashcards?! Dude, you are organised and I'm jealous. Hehe. I'm like a planster, half plot, half whatever-the-heck-hits-the-page.
Well, I'm not going to link up or anything because I don't post these things anywhere, but they're so helpful 😀 I just love developing different characters even if I don't have a story for them yet. I honestly spent a couple hours yesterday just thinking up characters, characters, amd MORE characters. I don't even have any new book ideas at the moment, but I just like having new voices popping up in my head. (Thank god you're a writer and understand this, otherwise I'd just sound like a lunatic 😛 ) It's funny how the characters answer those questions for themselves, without any involvement on my part. But sometimes they say something that doesn't see to add up and I have to think about why that is. ('Which element resembles your character most?' for example. I had an all-around fiery character, but he still answered water. WHAT TO DO WITH THAT.) But yeah. Keep up the good work with both the Beautiful People (because they're super helpful) amd your own writing (because I bet it's awesome)!
Dude, I understand the voices, I truly do. LISTEN TO THE VOICES. They're awesome. I love it when the answers just pop into your head, honestly, it. is. the. best. Less work! Woohoo! Except mostly I have to ponder the answers…which is good because it means I'm discovering more about my character, right?!
I'm mentally reminding myself to come back and do this when I have more time. We shall see how well my mental notes work.
My mental notes are awful. I write sticky notes on my computer and they're awesome. STICKY NOTES FTW. I have no memory. In fact…who are you?
Yay! 🙂 I linked up again. This is one of my favorite memes to use on my blog!
WOOT! I'm going to go read it!
Thing is, I tried to pants it last time and it completely crashed and burned. So I really needed to prepare this one. I wrote down a detailed outline, and then I made flashcards with scenes I wanted to incorporate. I didn't really use the flashcards, but I took a lot of notes, and it really helped for me!
Do you know how to do the button thingy? Im very new to the blogosphere.
Oops, sorry, Krissy, I should've explained that better, eh? You can just copy-and-paste it directly to your page if you like (that's control c if you have a PC and command c if you have Mac). Or you can copy the code in the box below the blog button and then flip your blog post page into HTML and then paste the code there. Does that make sense?
Oh gosh…These are good hard questions! Gotta do some thinking now XD By the way, I love the gifs you use 🙂 I have a few question ideas for ya. Feel free to use (or not use) any of them. Does he/she get nightmares? If so, why or what of?If they joined your local high school, what clique would they fit into? What do they merely tolerate? Are they easily persuaded or do they need more proof? Can they swim? If so, how did they learn? Thanks for hosting the link up! It's been a lot of fun so far 🙂
Yaaay, thanks Cassia! I'll add these questions to our list. xD
The only WIP that I gave is a fanfiction so I'm not sure if the questions will work to me:P But in any case, I do have to commend the questions. They are well thought-out and would truly give the writer an opportunity to work on their characters more, even ideas to put into their WIP in case any of these questions will become relevant at one point in their stories. Well done girls! Once I write my masterpiece, I'll come back to this and answer them myself ;)Faye at The Social Potato
Yep that worked. Thanks!
Ooh, yes, I forgot about this. Now, which MC to choose this month… I love this link up and questions. And wooop, winning CampNaNo!
What what is this CampNaNoWriMo that you speak of?
YAY I did it in time to add my link. It did July's BP last week XD Thank you SO MUCH FOR THIS CAIT. I really love this meme.
Tara Therese led me over here! I'm going to join in with one of my MC's for my new idea. This'll be fun! Thanks for organizing this! 😀
UGH I didn't make it in time to put in my link. 😛 Anyway, if it makes you feel any better, 53 people entered, not 52. 😉 http://runningthroughthestars.blogspot.com/2014/0…
