Today we have another Q&A with Raven Kennedy, author of the Plated Prisoner series, as part of my MTMC Tours stop!
You might remember my interview with Raven early this year about Gild, book 1 of the series, and now we’re back to talk about book 2, Glint! I’m trying to keep this post and review spoiler free so 👀👌🏻 let’s go.
Return to the seductive story of magic inspired by the myth of King Midas, and get caught up in the world of Orea with Glint by Raven Kennedy. The story picks up with Auren now captured by the enemy soldiers of King Rot and unsure of her fate. There’s a lot of travelling and fight-training scenes, and it was refreshing to see Auren flourish and begin to understand she’s a person not an object. With “enemy” soldiers treating her with respect and the enigmatic Commander Rip entrancing her, old loyalties are thrown into question. Lots of character development and political moves are in this instalment of the Plated Prisoner series; dark fae romance fantasy fans are sure to enjoy this sequel!

“You want to make your life easier? Then be the caged bird that you are and sing.”
For ten years, I’ve lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas’s golden castle. But one night changed everything.
Now I’m here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom’s army, and I’m not sure if I’m going to make it out of this in one piece. They’re marching to battle, and I’m the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war.
At the heart of my fear, my worry, there’s him—Commander Rip.
Known for his brutality on the battlefield, his viciousness is unsurpassed. But I know the truth about what he is.
Fae.
The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, wiping out Seventh Kingdom in the process. Rip has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes—his eyes are the most compelling of all.
When he turns those black eyes on me, I feel captive for an entirely different reason.
I may be out of my cage, but I’m not free, not even close. In the game of kings and armies, I’m the gilded pawn. The question is, can I out maneuver them?
This is the captivating second book of The Plated Prisoner series. It’s an adult epic fantasy story blending romance, intrigue, and beautiful imagery. Return to the seductive story of magic inspired by the myth of King Midas, and get caught up in the world of Orea.
Please Note: This book contains explicit content and darker elements, including mature language, violence, and sexual assault. It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. This is book one in a series.

Hi Raven! Thanks for stopping by to chat with me again about The Plated Prisoner series! Can you tell us 3 things to expect from book 2, Glint? Choices, secrets, and a golden girl stuck between two kings.
Choices, secrets, and a golden girl stuck between two kings.
What’s your favourite thing about writing sequels?
Being able to slowly layer the world and the characters’ backstory, while taking readers on an evolving journey.
Getting to see more backstory for Auren was definitely great while reading Glint! What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever received?
Keep writing, even when you want to quit.
Are you a plotter? Did you know how the Plated Prisoner series would end before you started or are you still discovering twists along the way?
I know all of the twists that will be happening in the books, so this is the most plotted series I’ve ever written.
We’re looking forward tall the twists, I’m sure 👀👌🏻 Do you have a favourite quote from Glint?
“I’ve been bending over backwards for so long that I forgot I even had a spine.”
What’s something you want readers to take away from the series?
I think my only hope is that Auren’s journey can connect with someone who’s ever felt caged, and to be reminded that they’re strong enough to fly.
