We’re working on poetry in English. At first I was…annoyed. I’m not a big poet. But really, poetry is not hard.
Today was alliteration. We had letters to make alliterated phrases out of.
Green Grapes Grow
Rabid Rabits Run
Flocking Flamingos Flap
Knitting Nice Neckties
Prancing Ponies Pounce
Easy stuff. Then we had to use ph and f. So my next set:
Fanny’s fanatic phone funnily fails the phrase.
Next it was time to write a tongue-twister. I was quite proud of mine.
Lottie licked a lovely lolly
Liking lemon lickable lollies
Luscious lemony, little and light,
Lemon lollies Lottie likes licking a lot.
Then we had to write one using a different alliteration for each line. Henceforth came:
Perhaps persnickety Pauline popped
Silly, suddy, soapy suds
Giddily the girl grabbed great goopy globs
Harmlessly happy from hideous habits
I think I like Lottie better than Pauline. It sounds rather…tongue-twisting. It was fun.
Who knows? I don’t think poetry’s going to be so bad after all.
What do you think of my poems?
