Having a post entirely of photographs is always a ridiculously delightful prospect. I love taking photos, okay, peoples?! Yes I do mainly shoot on automatic and I’ve yet to learn all the things about my camera…but someday I WILL CONQUER IT.
I’ve been tagged by Jean @ Happy Indulgence for the Find Me Tag. I’m pretty sure this is basically the best tag ever. I tramped around outside for shots and also had to push my puppy’s face out of 87% of the shots (he thinks he’s more interesting to photograph than books…weirdo) so…ENJOY.
RULES:
1. Find a book in the 10 categories listed below, take a photo or post the cover.
2. Tag the next victims
3. Link back to Christy at Novel Ink!
-~-
1 – A BOOK WITH A SUNSET
So I accidentally cheated for my very first picture but, bah. Rules are for mere mortals. And it is a sun on I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN. Just not a sunset. So 50 points to Slytherin.*
* Yes this is my Hogwarts house. Are you even surprised?
2 – A BOOK WITH WATER
The cover of THE MINNOW is literally underwater, so I win world conquering rights from this one. GO ME. Also this book is incredibly beautiful and confusing. Simultaneously! Exciting.
3 – A BOOK WITH A FLOWER
It is always a good time to throw a Maggie Stiefvater book in your face and whisper, “Reeeeead iiiiiit.” SHE IS MY FAVOURITE OKAY? I love BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE. I think it’s my favourite Raven Cycle book because Blue is so incredibly sassy in this one.
It was true that Blue was just shy of five feet and it was also true that she hadn’t eaten her greens, but she’d done the research and she didn’t think the two were related.
4 – A BOOK WITH A HEART
I haven’t read VALIANT yet, but now that I have Tithe in my cold clammy paws, I will be devouring this trilogy soon. SOON. I’m so excited. I adore Holly Black and creepy faeries. It kind of has a little red heart on the spine there? Don’t question it. It’s the best I could do seeing I never read smushy, happy books.
5 – A BOOK WITH GONE IN THE TITLE
How epically summery is SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE in this picture?! I’m so proud….considering I was freezing my fingertips off taking it. BUT AH WELL. I’m a cold frog in winter. It’s probably because my notorious overlord heart is ice cold. But who can be sure?
6 – A GIRL IN A WHITE DRESS
I’m forever sad that OF POSEIDON was so incredible and the rest of the series was so horrendous. Well, I haven’t touched the third book yet because my sister said it was awful. And she’s a total softie when it comes to rating books. I TRUST HER. But seriously, I laughed so hard in Of Poseidon.
“Basically, everyone thinks — knows — how sweet I am.”
“Emma, you threw my sister through hurricane-proof glass.”
7 – A COUPLE KISSING
Well, CITY OF LOST SOULS was as close as I could get. Seriously, peoples! I searched my shelves for ages for a book where anyone even remotely looked like they were kissing. NADA. And then I looked across my Goodreads shelves. Still nope. I don’t read kissing books apparently.
8 – A BOOK WITH HEADPHONES
I read THIS SONG WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE two years ago! Two whole years. Gosh, how book blogging makes time fly. I do wonder, though, if I read it now…if I’d love it as much. Elise is rather stupid about boys and making friends.
9 – A BOOK WITH A MOON
I can’t help it. My origami paper cranes attacked NIGHTBIRD. This wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read, but it did contain an extraordinary amount of pie, and that is worth reading a book for.
10 – A BOOK WITH A WEAPON
CELAENA WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVOURITE. And CROWN OF MIDNIGHT just happens to be the best Celaena Sardothien book of all time (so I say, and we all know I’m always right). I highly approve of deadly assassins who like chocolate, puppies, and pretty clothes.
-~-
As always…if I didn’t tag you and you want to do this? STEAL IT. You are most welcome. And if I did take you and you hate tags…ignore me. I’m tough. I can take it.

YAYAYAYAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAGGING. This is actually THE BEST excuse to take posts for pictures. 😉 (not sure, though, if I could do it without Googling…) (lol jokes of course I’ll be Googling) Actually, I DO know one with water: Pieces of Sky by Trinity Doyle. I just borrowed it from the library so that’s why I can remember it >.>
IT IS THE BEST TAG. I demand blogging creatures make more tags like this. *nods*
You photo’s are amazing. Just everything about them are gorgeous, also this is an awesome tag.
I try and take photos but I don’t have what you have haha.
Thanks for an awesome post. x
AW, THANKS ANGEL. *dances wildly*
I am forever jealous of your photography skills! I try to take photos like these but it just never looks as awesome! 😉 A book with water that comes to mind is Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma, but a sunset is a little harder. I keep thinking All Fall Down by Ally Carter, but without Googling it to check I’m just not sure!! This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner has that pretty colouring but I don’t think it technically counts as it’s in space… 😛
HEHE. I seriously only use automatic. I’d looove to learn photography properly though. *dreams wistfully* I think All Fall Down is a sunset?! The cover is very pink isn’t it…(or at least the UK one is).
Book photography on point! This actually looks hard; I feel like I wouldn’t have been able to find a single one. 😀 I have no clue about a sunset, but I feel like the first Percy Jackson book has water on the cover? Possibly? Maybe? Yes? 😀
It totally does. HE IS THE SON OF A WATER GOD. *nods* So you get, like, half a piece of cake. DON’T SAY I’M NOT A NICE OVERLORD.
OMG HOW DID I NOT THINK OF SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE??? That is the most GORGEOUS photo, by the way <3 <3 But lol, I didn't have any kissing couple books either. Go us!
AW, THANK YOU. It’s like been raining for five million days now, so when I was putting this together I was weeping for that glorious sunshine. *heavy sigh* BUT YUS. I feel like really smushy-cover books aren’t as common these days?! Or something? or else I just really don’t read a lot of romance. >.>
I’m pretty sure The Start of Me & You by Emery Lord has both a sunset AND water in it. And no, I didn’t Google that. Can I borrow your crown of world domination for a bit as reward? 😉
Posts with photos are the BESTEST EVERRRRR!!! They look so pretty and big and colourful there between the words, don’t they? And tots agree with you about Stiefvater! I will always love whatever she writes ♥
NO YOU MAY NOT. You can, like, have a small piece of cake as reward. (I’m a kind, kind overlord, don’t deny it now.)
STIEFVATER IS JUST AMAZING. I’m so in awe of her talent.
Forever jellies of your photography skills. I’ve always wanted to learn the art of taking photos, but my shaky hands forever hate me. xD Luckily, I’m taking a photography class this fall, but I’m a little worried that the class will be more sit and listen then go out and take pictures. Hopefully I’ll learn awesome stuff so I can take good pictures of books.
The only book up there that I’ve read is City of Lost Souls. I’ve been wanting to check out the Raven Cycle series for a while, but the library is so far away. D:
Um, I’m drawing a blank on covers with water and a sunset. Uh, *searches brain*. Nope, I got nothing.
Oohhhh, will you share tips from your photography class?! I NEED TO LEARN STUFF. All I do is on automatic and my camera has all these awesome buttons that need using. *nods*
Awk. A far away library is a very sad thing. 🙁 Mine is about 15mins away and I go every thursday because
I’m addictedof good reasons.*nods* Yes.Such beautiful photos Cait, super creative as well! Wow, I can’t believe This Song Has Saved Your Life has been out for 2 years! Time does fly when you’re having fun.
It totally does! It was one of my first ARCs. Fond memories. XD
*looks surreptitiously at bookshelf* Well, all my Ingo books (the tide knot, The Deep and The Crossing of Ingo) have water (because of the mermaids, obvs) and the blook of Olympus has a sunset (ther’s light coming from over a dark crater rim. It absolutely counts. I loved your book photos for this tag, Cait! Ha, you poor aussies have winter (there is a thunderstorm here right now, but I’m still in shorts and a sleeveless dress. And we have a delightfully unheated pool. You better feel sorry for yourself xD) I’ve read crown of Midnight and of Poisedon andsince you’ve been gone and this song will save your life. I mostly liked most of them!
I WANT TO READ INGO! I seriously only recently got recommended it! (Do you like it?) I could count on one hand the mermaid books I’ve read, so clearly this is a mermaid-shaped-hole in my reading life. *nods* OH. Blood of Olympus absolutely counts. I’M GONNA READ THAT SOON. Although I’m quaking in fear and trepidation, tbh. xD
Book with water on the cover: Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma (either edition). Book with sunset: hmm, drawing a blank–apparently I don’t books with sunsets and other happy things. I could dig up a book with a heart on the cover, and maybe one with a flower and one with a weapon, but some of those ones I’d be lost on, like the kissing one. (Also, my one for the weapon would also be my one for the girl in the white dress–and haven’t actually read that one yet.) So many books I need to read–Gah. *grabs credit card* *buys them all*
I seriously think sunsets aren’t a usual topic!! HENCE I CHEAT. Bad me. 😉
I WANT TO READ ALL THE BOOKS TOO. Gah. I need more clones, obviously.
You always take such amazing pictures! This is a really fun tag. I haven’t read any of these but plenty are on my TBR. Oh and have no idea about a sunset and water in a cover offhand. I kind of suck at remembering stuff like that!
I seriously feel like sunsets aren’t a very usual topic! Hence I cheated on it, lol. 😉 Aww, but thank you!!
If I haven’t said this already, your photos are AMAZING CAIT! :O You have a real knack for taking photos. I love your instagram account, you always have the coolest books and such a neat way of showing and arranging them!
Keep up the awesome work! <3
WELL THANK YOU, BRETT. I TRY. I DO. XD hehe, although, come now, it’s just the automatic setting and by my window for nice light. Except for the ones that are outside. *shudders* YES. I left my dark damp writers hole for the outside world. It was scary.
These photos are great! I especially like the second one.
Seems like a great tag.
Aw, thank you!! XD I had such fun taking them. *whispers* That’s my favourite too.
Ahhh, there is no way I can name a book with a sunset or one with water without googling. You are so cruel! Ha Love those covers. So pretty.
I don’t feel like sunsets are a particularly common book cover topic, right?! I had sooo much trouble finding one. Hence I cheat. hehe.
CAIT HOW DO YOU TAKE SUCH GOOD PICTURES TELL US ALL THE SECRETS.
Seriously though, these are really good! Lovely post!
fadjlkafd thank you so much Evi, that completely made my day. xD *whispers* Seriously though, I just use automatic on my camera!!
I want to do this tag soooo badly but I don’t have a blog 🙁
I was not surprised you are slytherin. I’m Ravenclaw( thank you pottermore!).
BROOKE. YOU CAN FIX THIS. BLOGGING IS REALLY FUN AND ADDICTIVE. 😉
Whyyyy is no one surprised I’m Slytherin?! I’M USUALLY SO NICE AND KIND. *coughs awkwardly*
SUCH PRETTY PHOTOOOOOS (and I’m not entirely surprised your house is Slytherin mwahaha, I’m a Hufflepuff XD!) Also, I’m reading CROWN OF MIDNIGHT NEXT YAY! I cannot wait for more Celaena!!! asdfghjkl <3
CROWN OF MIDNIGHT IS THE BEST, IMHO. IT WILL HURT YOU, THOUGH. YOU MAY CRY. I SHALL BE HERE WITH TISSUES FOR YOU. And I know right?! SUCH a surprise I’m Slytherin. I’m usually so wonderful and kind and honest. :’) ERM. WELL.
You are in Slytherin? I didn’t see that coming *cough* I think cheating on the first cover wasn’t that bad. You were close enough! Blue Lily is such a pretty cover. This song will save your life is such an impressive story.
I love the way you took your photos. You talented girl!
AWK. Thanks, Mel. <3 AND YUS. I have really kept my Slytherin-ness to myself, to be honest, I know it took EVERYONE by surprise. I'm usually such an honest and never ever eeeever sarcastic/sneaky person. *nods*
Hmmm… I can’t think of any sunset covers at all! Must not be a popular cover subject. I can think of a few water covers, though some are simply underwater shots and you can’t really see the water. Does that count?
I haven’t read any of these yet, but I have seen Nightbird at the library and was kind of intrigued (plus, I’ve had fairly good luck with the Alice Hoffman books I’ve already read). Maybe I’ll pick it up one day.
I know right?! I don’t think sunsets ARE particularly popular. I could barely even think of any. Hence I cheat. heehe.
This makes me want to read all of the books, they are so pretty. You have mad photo skills Cait 🙂
I am jealous.
AWK. Thanks so much, Skye! YOU MAKE ME SMILE SO MUCH. *flails*
Oh my goodness, those cranes and the lighting and those colours! Teach me your gorgeous photo-taking skills, Cait. Don’t be a Slytherin and hoard all your secrets to yourself.
*cackles in a Slytherin manner*
AHHH. But honest, I just use automatic on my camera and take the photos next to my window for good light. THAT IS ALL.
AGH WHY DID THIS POST HAVE TO BE SO GOOD! I was tagged in this too but all I did was get pictures from the internet! Now I feel really bad!!! You’re photos are gorgeous! I love the one with the cool pattern thingy (the first one)
DO NOT FEEL BAD AT ALL. NOPE. I think the original tag was just book covers, right?! SOME OF US ARE JUST PHOTOGRAPHY OBSESSED WEIRDOS. (Aka: me.) xD
Well, your photography skills are on point though, I would probably break my professional camera lol This Song Will Save Your Life was one of the best books I read last year, the picture you have taken looks adorable though! Awesome tag overall 🙂
I just use automatic. xD I reeeally want to learn how to do like super-awesome-proper-photography. *wistful sigh* ONE DAY. Thank you though, you’re so nice!!
All the pictures are gorgeous, Cait. I don’t know how you do it. As for books with a sunset, Partials has one, doesn’t it? And for books with water, the original cover of the Lighting Thief.
Anyways, I keep hearing about Nightbird. Is it any good?
Ohhh, I think you’re right! I can never remember the cover of Partials, exactly, apart from epic hair blowing in the wind. But let’s just go ahead and say it has a sunset. *nods* LIGHTNING THIEF FTW, I SAY.
Nightbird is….interesting. I thought it was okay, but a bit simple and happy for me. *shrugs* But I’m like a little Gollum sometimes and need scary books sO YEAH. You should totally try it. So much pie.
I’m totally going to do this when I get some extra time! What a wonderful idea!
YAY!!! It’s totally fun!!
OMG this is one the coolest tags EVER and I think I will be forced to steal it 🙂 but you’ve already given permission, so technically it’s not exactly stealing, is it? An excuse to photograph books, perfect! I may need to nip to the local library to do some of these. Hopefully won’t get any weird looks. That’s not cheating, is it? I have tons of books but they’re sort of spread out all over the place – as they should be, in my opinion, for a room without books is just wrong.
A great post and great photos 🙂 x
♥.•*¨ Amanda Says ¨*•.♥
It’s like “STEALING WITH PERMISSION”, so you can still feel sort of ninja-ish. *nods* Duuude, it can’t be cheating. I AM CHEATING. I’m using my iPod and just whacking pictures on top for the books I didn’t own! SO I CHEAT.
Acck, I always love your photos so much! And it looks like you have some mad origami skills! I’ve been tagged for this one but I’ve been putting it off, I didn’t own books in all the categories so I had to get some from the library. And sunset cover — The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord (always unclear if its a sunset or sunrise with most books though). Water cover — Every Little Thing in the World by Nina de Gramont.
I think the original tag wasn’t even photography, actually. Oops! But it’s kind of morphed into a photography-ish tag, which I’m totally happy about because I LURVE taking pictures of books. Plus I’ve had pictures for my instagram all week now, which is great. hehe.
Those are absolutely stunning photos. After writing this comment I’m scroll right back up to stare at them a little longer. This the first time that I’ve seen The Minnow and I’m in love with the cover it’s is so stunning. Also, I love you for the Jensen Ackles GIF 🙂
AJFKLDSA THANK YOU, MARI, MY DAY HAS BEEN MADE. Every post is 10000x better with a Jensen Ackles gif.
Looking through this post made me feel a little weird because I actually only own books for two of the categories…three if I cheat a little. AWKWARD. And it’s funny because everyone is always complaining about kissing on covers but neither of us seem to own a single book like that! As always, BEAUTIFUL photography, Cait!
I know right?! Where ARE all these super kissy covers?! Maybe the publishers have heard the complaints and don’t make as many anymore?! Or maybe I just really don’t read a lot of plain romance. <-- That is probably it. XD
Okay, water I definitely can do! Nil by Lynne Matson, because it is on an island. ACTUALLY- I think I can do sunset without looking too- Searching for Sky by Jillian Cantor. And actually, that one has water too, making it a double win.
As for which of these I have read… oh Cait, I am afraid I fail! I have only read one and a half! I’ve read City of Whatever that is that I am not scrolling back for, and I am halfway through Crown of Midnight! Guess which one I like more 😉
Random sidenote: I really like the CoM cover. I am almost sad now that I didn’t buy that one. I have NON-matching covers and while I was okay at first… now I may not be, I DON’T KNOW!
REALLY?! Searching for Sky has a sunset? In Australia it’s this girl with flowers for hair. I think. Omg, I don’t even know. MY BRAIN IS FAILING ME. Ahem. I shall give it to you, even though I’m slightly suspicious. 😉 Heeeeehehe.
WHAT. ONLY ONE?! SHANNON. I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS.
(I really love both UK and US editions of the Throne of Glass books. I kind of dream of owning both one day, ya know, when I rule the world and have a tone of money.)
I really want to become better at photography. Your photos are amazing. If you could give me some pointers, that’d be great and I’d love you for eternity and be a willing minion. Do we have a deal? (If you catch that reference, you’re even more awesome. I’ve been watching too much Once Upon a Time.)
I think I will steal this for stuff to do tomorrow morning. 🙂
UM Pieces of the Sky but that’s only because:
a) I already tried googling and nothing came up
b) Kara posted that answer… >.>
50 points to Slytherin. 😉
OHHHH YES DO STEAL IT. I can’t wait to see yours! Also, I seriously have no epic pointers for photography. >_< I feel like I know NOTHING myself. XD I just have good light, clean backgrounds (hopefully) and a really nice camera. Maybe I should do a post on it, though, sometime?! GAH. I need to watch OUAT. There are seriously too many epic-sounding shows I need to see. *Slytherin hi five*
AHHH. THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING TAG, AND YOUR PICTURES ARE AMAZING CAIT! Seriously, what are your tricks? Haha. You make me jealous because you have true photography skills. *cries in unfairness* Thanks for sharing these though – loved your choices and the pictures! (And the GIFs, too, of course. I mean, obviously. 😉 )
Seriously my ONLY trick is a nice camera. XD I shoot on automatic, c’mon! I’M A CHEATER. XD
You’re the artsy-est evil overlord I’ve ever known. Lovely photographs, zentangles, origamis AND book necklaces. Wow. The Since You’ve Been Gone photo is just amazing. I’m so impressed!
The Egypt Game looks like it’s in a sunset, but I’m not really sure. Water? Out of My Mind has a cool cover with water! (though I’m a bit worried of the goldfish…)
I LIKE ART STUFF, YES. hehe. But thank you! You’re sooo nice! I’M JUST GONNA BLUSH AND FLAIL NOW.
Aw, this sounds so incredibly fun! I LOVE taking pictures of books, lol and while I don’t always take on automatic, it does save me a lot of time so I can ADMIRE THE BOOKS ALREADY. COLS was beautiful and haha Since You’ve Been Gone’s picture is brilliant 😛 YOU CHEATED IN THE FIRST ROUND THAT CAN’T BE ALLOWED CAIT OH SHIT I SOUND LIKE HERMOINE GRANGER.
I basically always take an automatic. *hides in shame* I WANT TO LEARN THOUGH. I need to do more research and actually practise with the settings. XD
MWAHAHA I CAN CHEAT IF I WANT SO THERE. *flounces off slytherin style*
Such pretty pictures *insert loveheart eyes emoji* *many times*
And while I can’t think of a book with a sunset on it, the colour scheme of Sinner (Maggie Stiefvater) sort of…implies sunset.
That’s the only one I can think of, though.
AWK. YOU ARE SO NICE, CASSIE. And Sinner totally does remind me of a sunset. Or sunrise!? Something sunny with the goldenness of the cover.
I loved The Minnow! 😀
I think I might steal this tag, it looks like fun! 🙂 I love your photos. I’ve not read any of these books :/ But I have a few!
Cover with water on… The Weight of Water by Sarah Crossan, I think that has water? Or A Gathering Light by Jennifer Donneley? I’m googling now I’ve guessed… righ on both counts, whoop!
As for sunsets… No idea. Seriously, I’m coming up blank, haha!
OOH! OOH! OOH! I have the answer to your challenge! SECOND CHANCE SUMMER BY MORGAN MATSON. I think that has both a sunset and water on the cover, and I did it without googling or looking at other comments. *immense pride in self*
Pretty pictures! I loved the one of Nightbird the best because of the frame that the paper cranes formed around the cover. But all of them are so beautiful!
This tag looks like fun! I might just have to do it.
The only book I could think of that has water on the cover is Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief. And I have no idea for one that has a sunset in it…
Charlotte had tagged me for this one too, but I totally kept procrastinating on doing it, and your tag was a nudge to go do it. I actually just took the photos today! But OMG Cait, I can’t beat your gorgeous setups. Mine are all terribly lazy photos. :/
PFft, your photography is GORGEOUS. I DO NOT DOUBT TAHT YOUR POST WILL BE FREAKISHLY FANTASTIC. *runs to stalk your blog until it’s live*
Crown of Midnight is definitely the best Celaena book! It’s my favourite in the series so far. Beautiful pictures! 🙂
ME TOOOOOO. I really loved The Assassin’s Blade a lot but CoM still wins my heart. THAT ENDING FJASKDLDDSA. NO.
So many pretty pretty pictures! That’s all I wanted to say.
Aw, thanks, Cyn!!
I have not read any of these books but they’re on my list. XD One book I know that has water on the cover that I recall from memory is Heartless by Anne Elisabeth Stengl which I didn’t enjoy. 😛
storitorigrace.blogspot.com
TOO MANY BOOKS. TOO LITTLE TIME. XD
