In honour of my 5th blogversary, I feel we need to have a small teaparty and exchange chortling pleasantries.
Something I’ve been accused of (and am also mildly proud of) is the fact that I’m known as a friendly blogger. WELL GOOD. BECAUSE I WORK SUPER HARD AT THIS! Of course I have devious reasons behind it…aka — lowering your guard with my nice words and nice cake so you don’t realise when I maliciously take over the world; making sure you’ll buy my book if I get published someday; just general mind control…etc. etc.
(I am honest, at least?)
But as my blog grows, I feel like I talk to you all LESS because I want to talk to you ALL. Which is a sad side-effect of being fabulous, I suppose. #tragedy (But seriously now, I wish I had time to stalk your blogs as avidly as you support mine!! IT MEANS A LOT TO ME.) Ergo this post shall fix that! It’s ALL ABOUT YOU TODAY.
Here’s What We’re Going To Do:
- I’m going to tell you a bit about ME…in the form of a FAQ that no one asked for.
- Then you’re going to tell me a bit about YOU.
- And then from aaaall the comments, I shall pick a random winner to receive a Surprise Amazon eBook. (Don’t worry: I will check with you before I send it to make sure you haven’t read it yet!)
- We’ll also eat cake because OBVIOUSLY THAT IS WHAT WE’RE HERE TO DO. You can have tea too. Or coffee. Or hot chocolate. Or the blood of your enemies, I don’t know, mate, I’m not judging.
- THIS IS GONNA BE FUN. ISN’T THIS FUN? IT IS.
F A Q W I T H T H E F U R Y
(Even though it’s totally not an “FAQ” because nobody has even asked these. But you probably want to ask them, so I’m just getting ahead. You’re welcome. Never say I don’t do nice things.)
WHY DO YOU FREQUENTLY CALL US “PINEAPPLES”?
Excellent question that you did not ask, my friend. And I will explain! About 84.2% of my jokes are actually movie quotes or references to something. BECAUSE I’M A NERD. This one happens to be 50% a reference to the TV show Psych. But it’s also 50% because I like food and I was calling everyone “blueberry” and “squid”, but pineapple somehow prevailed above them.
WHAT IS WITH ALL THE CAKE?
Because it’s the secret to HAPPINESS and LIFE, obviously. And everyone likes cake, except for really really really sad people. Also — I am like the Pied Piper but with cake. So the Pied Caker.
HOW COME WE NEVER SEE YOUR FACE? DO YOU EVEN HAVE A FACE?
I am shy. (And yes it’s possible to be outgoing online and shy in real life!) When I look at a camera I feel my soul slowly being eaten away by the cavity of doom that is the lens. I forget joy and happiness and remember only dark doom. NO THIS IS NOT HYPERBOLIC. IT’S HOW I FEEL.
I might not have a face, but I definitely have two legs, so.
WELL CAN YOU AT LEAST TELL US SOME BORING AVERAGE FACTS TO MAKE UP FOR THE FACT THAT YOU DON’T HAVE A HEAD?
As you wish.
- I live in Australia, which is different to Austria actually because we have vegemite and they don’t.
- And NO the wildlife isn’t that bad here!! Don’t even worry about the snakes and spiders. The BIRD LIFE on the other hand…ugh. There was this time I got attacked by a kookaburra and it sliced my face. And also a butcher bird got into my sister’s chicken coop and killed a baby chicken.
- I have left the country! I went to China for 4 weeks when I was 16. It’s very loud. I may have had a breakdown once or twice but fried eggplant and rice is delicious.
- I actually started blogging to recount the afore mentioned trip.
- But then turned to books because — LITTLE BIT OBSESSED OVER HERE, FOLKS. I’M SURE IT’S HARD TO TELL.
- I’m 22.
- I have an anxiety (amongst other things) and I work from home because of this. This means = much time for books and blogging and writing because who needs sleep when you work for yourself????
- I named my dog Atticus because LITERARY NERD ALERT. But turns out he is a) neither kind nor b) clever. Naming #fail.
- I’m 5’1. Which means when the sky falls, I won’t die first.
- I’ve written 19 books in the last 6 years.
- I collect mugs because obviously that’s awesome.
- I’m much better at writing than speaking.
- If you met me in person, you would notice that I’m very VERY SHY. You would notice this because of the fact you would not meet me in person. Because I’m in training to be a hermit or Hobbit. I want my cave, my books, my magical world-controlling ring.
WHAT’S THE SECRET TO BOOK BLOGGING?
The secret is being wildly passionate about books. EASY. Also make people laugh. Also give them cake. Be consistent. Be professional and fun simultaneously. (Which means, have a nice clean looking blog and then yell at people that they’re pineapple faces in the actual posts.) Be nice. Attack them with friendship. Threaten their lives a little bit with dragon fire if they don’t be friends with you. Give away your time. Thank people. Stick at it. Also cake. Cake cake cake.
WHAT’S THE SECRET TO WRITING A SUCCESSFUL BOOK AND GETTING AN AGENT AND NOT HAVING A MENTAL BREAKDOWN IN THE PROCESS?
The boring answer is: Write so so so much and keep writing until your eyeballs hate you, because you get better and you learn more about yourself and your style after every book. Write about what interests you most. Research everything. Twice. But you’re probably still going to have the mental breakdown. Maybe two. Maybe nine. I AM JUST SAYIN’.
The true answer: SACRIFICES. EAT THE MOON DURING THE AUTUMN EQUINOX. CHOCOLATE IS A FOOD GROUP. PET A DRAGON. KILL YOUR DARLINGS.
WHAT KIND OF TEA ARE YOU DRINKING SINCE THIS IS A TEAPARTY AND EVERYTHING?
Yeah, so #awkwardmoment…I’m not even fan of tea. I do chai. But I love mochas. Also dandelion or ginger homemade lattes. I just came for the cake????
WHAT’S THE BEST AND WORST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?
BEST: Writing. I really love writing, especially about books which is my favourite topic EVER. Also getting instant reactions from various humans who visit my blog. I’M SORRY THAT’S SO SHALLOW. It’s intensely nice….since novel writing is like “work in silence for 9 years before getting feedback“. I also like the general pleased satisfaction that comes from making something pretty. Like a blog graphic. Or a bookish photo. I also like having space that is ALL MINE. My little internet queendom.
WORST: Hate comments. People telling me how to think/act or to change my opinion on a bookish topic. (Ummm…no?) People assuming I’m going to be a snob because I have a large audience. Stressing out over things I SHOULD NOT BE STRESSING OUT OVER!! Because I’m also an anxious perfectionist bean.
TELL US SOME ODD BOOKISH QUIRKS YOU HAVE. GO ON. TELL ALL. WE’RE DEMANDING HERE.
I can see that, sheesh. Who is behind these questions? WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM? (Oh yeah…it’s me.)
- I organise my books by colour.
- This means that I’m more likely to tell you the colour of the book rather than the title/author. “You want an epic fantasy? YEAH LEMME GET YOU THIS GOOD BLUE ONE.”
- I rarely remember character’s names. It can be awkward.
- I buy books specifically because they’ll look nice on my #bookstagram.
- I’M NOT EVEN ASHAMED OF BEING A GINORMOUS FAN OF COVER-LOVE.
- Because technically we spend more time looking at books than reading them, right????
- Speaking of which: I spend an obscene amount of time choosing which book to read next. Curse you, gargantuan TBR and indecisive nature.
- Currently my TBR has 53 books on it. Excluding the dark depths of my kindle because LET’S NOT EVEN GO INTO THAT DARK UNCHARTED BEAST.
- I procrastinate books I know will give me FEEEEEELS because I don’t always like feeling things. #Vulcan
- I can’t read if everyone is being too noisy, dangit. I need my quiet.
- Good books require a) dragons, b) stabbing, c) witty banter, and d) at least one explosion.
- Dust jacket OFF while reading, always.
- The Hunger Games and The Scorpio Races got me started on YA. Coincidentally, those are two of my long-standing-forever-loved-authors.
- I prefer reading in 3rd person.
- Of course I sniff books…who doesn’t?!??
- 5 books I’m really looking forward to are: Gemina, A Conjuring of Light, Rose Blood, The Bastard Table, and Crooked Kingdom.
- I adore audiobooks….I’m probably a better auditory learner in that respect.
- My goal in life is to read all the books of ever. SO I’M LIVING FOREVER, BY THE WAY.
- I would also like to be a wildly famous book blogger and rule the world etc etc. Just the normal average ambitions, I’m sure. The world ruling IS HAPPENING RIGHT UNDER YOUR VERY NOSE. The army rises. The dragons bake. We’re getting ready.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN, MY FINE FIENDS.
I have 3 questions to ask you. (Although you don’t have to answer them to win the ebook. Just comment = you’re in to win!) And feel free to just generally CHAT with me. Blogging is also about the bloggers and the community. And I might not have time to comment on every post you write, BUT I STILL WANT TO SHOW I APPRECIATE YOU.
My Questions For You:
- Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
- What are some of your dream blogging goals?
- What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Fun fact: I’m currently wearing a gold pineapple temporary tattoo. I like to pretend that it’s a rash because I’m allergic to pineapple bites. I love any berry tea, and lemon yogurt cake is nice. Also Madeira cake (madeira is my middle name). I don’t really have blogging goals… I just blog. I guess I dream that one day I will stop being lazy and make a blog button. The Star Touched Queen and Our Chemical Hearts and the A&U paperback edition of Sabriel because I have all the others in the series in those glorious editions (and I NEED NEED NEED the watercolour cover for Goldenhand… the same guy did the Ruined cover. Anyway. ) Also I’m really excited because my summer holidays just started and I have ALL the time to readsewrunswimbakereadwriteblogread. Yay blogoversary! Yay awesome Cait!
OMG YOU’RE WEARING A PINEAPPLE TATTOO IN HONOUR OF MY RULE. <3 (Shhh, this is your reason, I know it. Don't bust my bubble here.)
I need to look up this Goldenhand cover because I LOVE THE COVER OF RUINED (which I'm reading right now and afjdkslafd isn't that book JUST SO AMAZING?!?!?? Em and Cas are everything. <3) And ahhh yay for holidays!! DO ALL THE THINGS. HAVE ALL THE FUN!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this post Cait! 😀 BUT I HAVE SEEN YOUR FACE ON FACEBOOK. BHAHAHAH. I feel priviliged.
1) Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I’m not a biiiig fan of tea. More of a coffee or hot chocolate type. But I do like lemon tea or forest fruits. 🙂 Fave cake is obviously any cake with chocolate in it.
2)What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I would like if I said I don’t want to be a famous blogger because who doesn’t honestly? But I really hope to grow my audience more over the years and if it counts, go to BEA. Because BOOKS AND FRIENDS!
3)What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
LEMME UNFOLD MY SCROLL. Ahem. First one that comes to mind these days is Nevernight by Jay Kristoff because people are receiving it and reading it and I WANT IT TOO DAMMIT. Also Gemina. Of course. And about a million others.
AHH THANK YOU, BEE. oooh, you facebook stalker.😂😂😂 (Eventually I suppose I’ll have to have an author photo and then all my anonymity will be RUINED. *sobs*😂)
1. Coffee and hot chocolate are divine. OR BETTER YET: BOTH TOGETHER HELLO MOCHAS. I make mochas at home a lot.😂 Basically put chocolate in all the desserts of ever. #priorites
2. EXACTLY. Let’s all be famous and be known across the interwebs for our fine blogging skills. #goals
3. AHAHAHH YOU’RE SCROLL.😂 Omg that’s so relatable. Ahem. Nevernight = YES. I want that badly. Basically like everything by Jay Kristoff. Immediately.
I NEED GEMINA IMMEDIATELY. The first book killed me (this is my ghost writing this) and now I am just waiting for the sequel to come out. I don’t usually read sci-fi, but I LOVED Illuminae, in case you couldn’t tell. That cover, the writing, the plot… all beautiful.
To answer your first question, I don’t like tea (like you) or coffee. Which makes it kind of weird for me when a lot of writers post pictures of their manuscripts next to cups of coffee. Meanwhile I am causally drinking cold water by my laptop because it’s nearly forty degrees everyday. I blame living in a hot country for making me hate any kind of hot drink. XD
Blogging goals…hmmm I’m super new to the blogsphere, so I guess just finding my voice, and getting to connect more with other writers/bloggers/readers would be amazing. I’m lucky to have already met a lot of awesome people, but the more the merrier! 🙂
Also, happy blogoversary!!! I am so happy for you. *showers you with cake because cake is better than confetti*
Hello, ghost of Melissa. *gives you ghostly cake* And I agree that Illuminae was ENTIRELY UNFAIR on the feels. Plus I’ve seen the authors cackling maliciously on twitter and I’m like 99% sure they’re going to KILL EVERYTHING WE LOVE BEFORE THIS TRILOGY IS OVER. *sobs* BUt I still want it. And no regrets.
AHHHH, but at least we are twins in the non-tea-loving! *hi fives* I really WISH I liked tea? Because it seems like a comforting thing to drink? But, eh, the occasional chai is all I do. (Omg, even when it’s 40 degrees here, my parents are STILL DRINKING TEA LIKE 3 TIMES A DAY. THEY ARE STRANGE CREATURES.)
And yay for those goals!! They seems like super wonderful goals! And YES, making interent friends is. the. best. I think it makes the blogging experience so much more fun. <3
Hi Cait!!!
Before I answer the questions, I have to tell you how much I LOVE your blog! Your posts make me laugh and give me BOOKS. They also make me hungry because of how much you say the word cake but that’s all right since I do that to myself anyway! I love dragons too, pineapple! Thanks for the blog; you’re the best! xxxx
1. HOW CAN YOU ASK ME TO PICK ONLY ONE KIND OF CAKE! (Chocolate cake, carrot cake, banoffee pie, cheesecake, coffee cake, lemon cake, ICE CREAM CAKE.) Okay but if I had to pick only one kind to eat for the rest of my life…probably brownies (does that count as cake?) BECAUSE YUM. And same as you, I don’t really like tea but I love hot chocolate and caramel lattes.
2. I do not have a blog as of yet but I do want to start one. Either a fashion one or a food one or (obviously) a book one. I’m just sort of scared of the commitment (*raises my procrastinating hand*) and what if no one likes it or reads it or I do it wrong? Any tips?
3. Currently I am dying to read The Last Star by Rick Yancey, the last book in the 5th Wave series because he left me on the edge of a cliffhanger with the last one. Ooh or the first book in the Raven Boys series because I haven’t read them yet but I’ve been dying to (you and a friend are making me want to read it!!).
Thank you so much for your blog again and this fun FAQ! 🙂 ❤️ Have a great day!
OMG THANK YOU, ENGI. <3 That is really kind of you to say and means a lot to me! *shrieks happily*
1. I KNOW IT'S SUCH A CRUEL QUESTION. I AM THE WORST. (Mwahahahah. Ahem.) But dude, all those cakes. ALL OF THEM. Ice cream cake is the true pinnacle of cakedom, but also banana cake and chocolate cake. <3 Basically cake.
2. Oooh, good luck starting your blog!!! BLOG ABOUT ALL 3?!??! ;D
3. And you’ve just reminded me I still have to read The Infinite Sea! I read The 5th Wave recently and quite liked it. BUT DUDE OMG THE RAVEN BOYS ARE EVERYTHING AND I WILL SHRIEK IN JOY FOREVER IF YOU READ THEM. AHHHHHHHHHH.
*shrieks simultaneously because it’s fun* !!
YOU ARE THE WORST BEST CAIT! I’m waiting patiently for the day when you will become overlord of the world because then we’ll all get cake (and probably good book recommendations; it’s hard to decide which is most important…)
THANK YOU!!!!! I’m going to try to start and if/when I do (HOPEFULLY PLEASE) then I hope you’ll come visit 😀
Yes!!! The Infinite Sea was great but left me with way too many unanswered questions so I am dying to get my hands on the ending!! OK YOU’VE CONVINCED ME I AM GOING TO START READING THEM TODAY!!! Shriek on! Haha
Bye Caiiiit!!!! 💕
I LOVE THIS but also feel like I knew answers to quite a few of your questions even though I SWEAR I’M NOT A STALKER I just read all the things you tell me to/release into the world.
My favourite tea is probably what we call ‘natural’ tea in my country (which is like five-roses or…I don’t know what else it’s called?) or, Chai tea because it tastes like Christmas and Green Tea because it’s grown on me and now I’m obsessed.
I love goals but, strangely, don’t have any blogging goals? Maybe my goal with blogging is to just have fun (?) and forcefully make friends, read books and talk about my cat whenever I like without people telling me I’m not allowed to? #IDontKnow
I currently don’t have…a cup of tea but I will have soon!
Lovely post (party) Cait! I’m so glad I got to know you better! 😀
LOL!
That last line was meant to say, I don’t have…ACOMAF but I will have soon. #AutoCorrectFail
AHHHH YOU STALKER.😂 But actually, ’tis true. I’ve said a LOT of this before. hehe. But I’m running out of different facts, omg, I’m too much of a consistent person. Five years of blogging and all I Can do is scream “READ MAGGIE STIEFVATER AND BRING ME CAKE”. #noregrets 😂
*hi fives for loving chai*
Having fun is still an excellent goal!! I LIKE IT. But pfft, people tell you to stop talking about your cat?? Shame on them. Do not let the haters get you down.
And I’m laughing at the “cup of tea” vs “ACOMAF” typo😂😂😂😂 YOU’RE WONDERFUL.
If I say I don’t like tea, do I get disqualified from life? I know, my British mother is having a fainting spell as we speak! But Cake. I LOVE CAKE. WHY DO I HAVE TO CHOOSE JUST ONE?!?!?! For the sake of this exercise, I will say Bailey’s Irish Chocolate Cheesecake because YUUUUM and because I can’t believe you’re making me choose.
My biggest blogging goal is to have a design that I’m in love with forever, and to feel zen and balanced about my content.
I’d reeeeeeeeeally like to get my hands on The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig BUT NO BOOKSHOP SEEMS TO HAVE IT.
NO YOU DON’T GET DISQUALIFIED. Because I’m like a fake tea drinker anyway. (Coffee is good though. Coffee is splendid.) And I’M SORRY FOR THE EVIL CAKE QUESTION. I just like to torture you all occasionally so you remember I’m an EVIL overlord. But cheesecake is ALWAYS a good answer.
AHHHH good blog goals!! Good designs that you love forever are THE BEST.
OMG THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE IS FANTASTIC. Maps, Hannah, it’s SO FULL OF MAPS.
Banana cake’s good. I like that, but I’m not terribly picky as long as it’s not chocolate cake. (Though, once we made a cake from an apparently ‘Dauntless Cake’ recipe and I did like that)
YES, Australia isn’t a bunch of evil animals scheming the downfall of mankind! I just think it’s amazing how many people actually think it is just that. 🙂
I LOVE how you call us all pineapples. It makes me feel like a meek little brainwashed soldier. xD
WHAT WHAT WHAT you don’t like chocolate cake?!?! BUT JANE. CHOCOLATE CAKE IS LIFE. (Although banana cake is also delicious and I highly approve of that too. *nods*)
And omg, isn’t it crazy that people genuinely think that Australia is going to eat them??? It’s kind of hilarious.😂 I’ve seen like one snake in the wild and I’ve done a gazillion bushwalks in my time too.😂 (The birds ARE malicious though. Sheesh.)
GOOD. *pats brainwashed little pineapple’s head*
It goes with not liking chocolate in general I guess. :’) There’s several perks to not liking it: seeing people’s faces when they first discover that I don’t like chocolate. And then there’s always ‘those people’ who insist on forgetting and I get the benefit of seeing their shock multiple times.
You’ve only seen ONE snake? Oh, you’re lucky, we’ve had a couple more around here. But that doesn’t mean were ‘so brave to dare take a step out the door’, it’s not like they’re lying in wait or anything! :’)
Happy blogoversary! I really like your blog and the way you write it always makes me smile. Keep up the good work and the fabutastic posts!
My favorite tea is caramelized pear (yes very fancy but it smells soooo good I love it) and cake.. I LOVE ALL CAKE. But especially cute cupcakes with chocolate bits in them. Yumyumyum.
My dream blogging goals.. just have people reading my blog and loving it and interacting with me about my posts. That’d be really nice 🙂
What book do I not have but want to have? Ehm I really want to have The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson because I LOVE HER BOOKS SO MUCH and I’ve heard so many good things about it.
AHHHH THANK YOU, AMY. *shares cake with you*
Omg caramelised pear sounds DIVINE and you’re 100% right that ALL cake is good cake. But chocolate always wins. BECAUSE CHOCOLATE. Basically every dessert of ever should have chocolate in it because CHOCOLATE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND.
Also that’s such a good blogging goal!! And definitely an achievable one, I say. GO YOU! 😀
aHHHH I JUST GOT A COPY OF THE UNEXPECTED EVERYTHING *shrieks* I’m so so excited too! Because dogs.
*clutches heart* thanks for sharing cake with me. CHOCOLATE INDEED MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND its the best thing ever.
OMG I hope you enjoy the unexpected everything!! I’m not jealous at all. Nope.
1. My favorite cake is chocolate with chocolate frosting. I would probably be drinking coffee, but if it is tea Earl Grey with cream and sugar. I will only drink Earl Grey with chocolate cake, so a box lasts me a looooooong time.
2. My dream blogging goal is to have so many followers that when I recommend one of my indie author’s books, sales for that book go up significantly. I feel really bad when I read a hyped book and it is shite and then think of all of the fantastic books that don’t even get a passing glance from readers because they are not from high profile publishers.
3. I would probably want The Cursed Child.
Our cat Atticus turned out not to be kind, clever, nor male! Ha ha. XD
Coffee + chocolate cake = THE BEST ANSWER. JAS. I’M COMING OVER TO EAT YOURS. Ahem.
And it is unfair that bad books often get more publicity than indie books…but then, I guess, it depends also on the author choosing to go indie? I mean, I know there are TONS of reasons for it so YUS. But I guess not-much-publicity is a side-affect of going indie. 🙁
Oooh, yes the Cursed Child! I’m curious about that one!
BAHAHHA TO YOUR ATTICUS.😂😂
That’s a better goal than mine. Several of my favorite books are “underappreciated,” while so many of the popular ones just make me shake my head.
•Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
~I adore the calming effects of simple lemon tea.
•What are some of your dream blogging goals?
~Well, I’ve actually never really thought of blogging. I’m more of a love someone’s elses work than mine. I’m not that outgoing so yes, I’m shy like you…like very shy. Even now as I type this, my fingers are hesitantly pressing on each letter.
•What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
~This question should have it’s own separate page(s) for me to ramble off as in I’ll never finish in time. Instead, a book I currently want but can’t have is a book that an amazing author, somewhere out there, who hasn’t written in yet.
Lemon tea sounds nice! And aw, I appreciate you commenting my shy friend! Just know that I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND!! (I’ve worked really hard to not be so shy online, but IRL is a different matter entirely😂 And no shame to we shy folks. We are awesome just the way we are. <3)
Also I could list 39839 books I really want too. hehe. There are so many good sounding books out there! AHHHHHHH.
“I’m 5’1. Which means when the sky falls, I won’t die first.”
literally same, or as my boyfriend says “five foot and a fart.”
now on to your fantabulous questions!!
my favourite tea is english breakfast tea. you can’t call me ‘too english’ for this one because i’m welsh and my favourite cake is coconut and raspberry (or maybe a victoria sponge, you know, IF i had to choose)
my dream blogging goal is to run a successful blog that inspires other people to start one too!!
the book i REALLY want is ‘the strange and beautiful sorrows of ava lavender” because it looks so pretty and it’s supposed to be mind-blowing *grabby hands*
i’ve already congratulated you on twitter but CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN. you’re my favourite person and blog, keep it up!!! <3
BAHHAHAHA. Five foot and a fart.😂
I know making you choose cake is VERY cruel. I apologise. I’m evil. Buuuut, victoria sponge sounds delicious. And I won’t call you “too English” I promise. 😉 AND OMG THAT IS A GREAT BLOGGING GOAL I LOVE IT!! And I emphatically agree tha the cover of Ava Lavender is GORGEOUS. I have an ARC cover and even that is gorgeous. (Although I confess I wasn’t a huge fan of the book?😂 But it’s still beautifully written!!)
AWWWW< THANK YOU. <3
Right now I really really like lemon cake and have made it 3 times in the last month *shrugs* I want to be sophisticated and drink tea, but I mainly like herbal tea. My current favourite is some blue fruit tea and of course chai (because sweet and milky=heaven) Some of my dream blogging goals is to get more comments, have the time to design a button and favicon (which will hopefully happen this summer), and have more followers? I’m not too sad with where I am right now I guess #noambiton. I’ve been to China for about a day and it was kind of like what you described but less fried eggplant and more selling turtles for food 🙁 . I rather want to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters which I can’t get (I think Shanti and I will preorder is?) OH YOU EVIL COVER LOVE BUYER!! (p.s Shanti bough one of your mugs and it’s beautiful)
Lemon cake is delicious. *nods* Although whenever someone in my household makes it, I just always question why there is no chocolate. I mean, what really is life if chocolate is not in everything???? At least in every dessert. #priorites (CHAI TEA THO. YESSSSS.)
Oh favicons are hard.😂 I mean, they’re not HARD, but I died trying to make one and ended up going with my profile picture. ahhaha. Oh dear. Good luck for yours and your button!!
Okay, ew to turtles for food. We saw plenty swimming in little bowls at the markets. I’m thinking now that they perhaps weren’t there as potential pets? We also saw people selling dogs for food AND THAT WAS NOT OKAY BECAUSE DOGS ARE MY PRECIOUS. Ahem.
AFDJLSKAFD THANK YOU TO SHANTI FOR BUYING A MUG!!! (Which one?! I’m so curious.😂)
19 BOOKS IN SIX YEARS???? HOW?????
ahem, also, you’re an Aussie!!! I was in Australia earlier this year for just slightly less than a week. Used to have family that lived there (they moved back to Asia) so used to visit them over the years. sighs. pretty place. (I’m currently in NZ, btw. Hobbiton is as pretty as in the movies and I wanna live there.)
the FAQ was great and CAKE.
now for your questions, which I am actually answering, because why not procrastinate more on posting a new book photo on instagram?
– Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
It took me a while to get into tea (I still am meh about it, prefer coffee) but I get this spiced apple and chamomile tea that’s wonderful to have when I’m feeling a bit stuffed up, or when the weather is shit. ALL CAKE IS MY FAVOURITE CAKE (*cough*chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake*cough*).
– What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I just started last month, so to find a groove I’m comfortable with, to not run out of topic ideas, to keep reading. To, idk, establish a base of readers that enjoy talking to me about reading and books and writing? (To not give up before I’ve really started.)
– What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
THE STAR TOUCHED QUEEN. PLEASE AND OHMYGOD.
this was fun, Cait. ONCE AGAIN, HAPPY BLOGVERSARY!
I DON’T KNOW. I DON’T HAVE A LIFE AND I TYPE REALLY FAST. There you go. All my secrets. *nods*
AHHHHH hello Hobbit!! I kind of desperately want to go to Hobbiton…but then I also probably wouldn’t want to leave so that could be awkward. *nods*
1. Coffee is always a good life choice BUT “cake and coffee and get to know me” doesn’t RHYME so I couldn’t have it as my title. #logic And spiced apple cake sounds DIVINE. But I gotta stand with you on the cheesecake. That is like the ROYAL QUEEN of all deliciousness.
2. THOSE ARE GOOD GOALS. *sprinkles confetti in your hair* YOU GOT THIS.
3. OH OH I WANT TO READ THAT ONE TOO. Except I’m also slightly scared of it because I either read like 5 star reviews or 2 star. 😂 IT’S SO CONFUSING, OMG, PEOPLE JUST AGREE PLEASE, SO I KNOW WHETHER TO BUY THIS BOOK OR NOT.
I HAVE BEEN TO HOBBITON LIKE FOUR TIMES??? each time we have guests we go there and i regret nothing it is BEAUTIFUL COME VISIT ME AND I SHALL TAKE YOU CAIT
1. i meant spiced apple tea but now i also want spiced apple cake, thanks Cait
2. I AM HOLDING YOU TO THIS! somehow, make it happen for me. thanks. xD
3. i’ve only read 5 star reviews??? also indian folklore and indian author, i stand by this in indian solidarity (d’you know how rare it is?? HOW RARE??? i thought i’d have to write it myself i am SO GLAD I DON’T HAVE TO she says as she casually ignores the indian culture that permeates most of her stories)
1. OMG I MISREAD.😂 But let’s just have all the spiced apple things. Tea, cake, soup, waffles…options are endless, really.
2. OKAY THEN.
3. AhHHHHH. I mean, YES Indian folklore is so so rare. Just Indian books. Period. AGH. I wish we had more options!! Have you read 5 to 1? That was set in India and is QUITE GOOD. *nods*
1. mmmm, waffles <3
3. WHAT WHAT WHAT NOPE I HAVE NOT *skeedaddles to goodreads* OOHH INTERESTING might check it out, thanks!
Yay, I love getting know a bit more about the blogger!
In response to your questions…
1. My favourite kind of tea is Earl Grey and I looove chocolate cake.
2. My main blogging goal is to actually gain a following.
3. A book I don’t have but REALLY WANT TO HAVE is If Not, Winter by Anne Carson (it’s poetry, which I normally can’t stand, but it’s Sappho, who I adore).
YAY I AM GLAD!! It’s always nice to know bloggers are real people right?!?😂 Ahem.
1. CHOCOLATE CAKE IS AN EXCELLENT ANSWER.
2. That is a good goal!! I’m cheering for you!!
3. ohhhhh, I love that title. 😀
Cait, okay, so, please put this on your next mug design: “I’m 5’1. Which means when the sky falls, I won’t die first” or some variation because that would be very funny. You could even be cool and quote yourself at the bottom of it. Ahem.
Oh wow, let’s not even discuss my TBR. Actually let’s, I need to unburden myself. There are…wait for it…190 books on my TBR. *gasp*
Okay okay questions:
1. I quite like brownies, which aren’t technically a cake but oh well. And I like just normal tea – Irish Breakfast or something.
2. I don’t know what my dream blogging goals are, I’m just really enjoying where I’m at at the moment and talking to everyone. I do like having a smaller number of people because it makes it much easier to interact with everyone.
3. Hm. *nervous laughter* I think I have most of the books I want – maybe All I Know Now by Carrie Hope Fletcher.
Oh excellent idea. *nods* I mean, my Society6 store is basically just full of quotes I made up. It’s like a shrine to me. #humble
AHHHH 190. YOU WIN.😂 I specifically don’t count the books on my kindle because I’m scared it’d be up that far. *dies a little*
1. Brownies are GOOD THOUGH. And kind of cakey??? I’ll accept them into the cake family.
2. *nods* I hear ya. Smaller crowds ARE easier to keep on top of the stalking.
3. Ohhh I haven’t even HEARD OF THAT ONE. *goes to look it up*
I completely love this post! Thank you for sharing your life with us. I have a cup of coffee and I’ve got some cake for later (I’ll think of you when I eat it). My favouritist cake is a carrot cake – I blimmin love that stuff. You can’t go wrong with chocolate cake though – although I have a friend who doesn’t like chocolate cake! The fact that he’s still a good friend amazes me. 😛
Oh and dandelion latte? I’ve never heard of such a delight but I’m thinking I need to try it!
Right now I’d love to get my paws on Crooked Kingdom, The Thorn of Emberlain and Gemina. Oh and Heartless, I’m intrigued by Heartless. Obviously, A Conjuring of Light too because I need me more Kell!
Have a fantabulous weekend! x
AFJDSLA THANK YOU, RHODA. Coffee sounds like a DELICIOUS idea (although it’s like 9:10pm for me write now so I probably should stop dreaming about coffee. Ahem.) But dude. YOU HAVE A FRIEND WHO DOESN’T LIKE CHOCOLATE CAKE?!?!?? Someone needs happiness in their life.
YES to dandelion lattes.😂 I wonder if they’re just an Australian thing? I have no clue. BUT THEY’RE GOOD.
YES YES TO HEARTLESS. But can we both just cry for a moment on how FAR AWAY A Conjuring of Light is and how CRUEL the AGOS cliffhanger was? *weeps*
Those are actually quite hard questions cait 🙁 I think my fav tea is rose tea or chamomile. Fav cake is like asking me for my fav book = impossible! But some of my favourites are carrot cake, red velvet cake, and cheesecake! I could probably live on these + pizza. No life without pizza.
My blogging goal is to actually start my blog that is already there in my mind… But first I need to finish my dissertation-horrible thing- …
I guess the book I don’t have but do NEEEEEED is Crooked Kingdom, and the new Karin Slaughter -lots of stabbing in these books, you’d like ;)- oh! And Lady Midnight of course. Although I might wait till there’s a matching cover for my beauty’s TMI and TID, I have the ones with the amazing cover art 😍😍
Also just wanted to say I’m impressed with you commenting back on so many comments! Makes me love to comment on your A-M-A-Z-I-N-G blog!
Eeeep. No one said this is an easy party.😂 And TOO TRUE about the favourite cake. But cheesecake, omg, cheesecake is like the very royal queen of cakes. (And of course there’s no life without pizza. SO I THOROUGHLY AGREE WITH YOU THERE TOO.)
AHHHHHHHH I can’t wait to read your blog when you start it!! *flails* THIS IS EXCITING.
And omg we can just wail about our need for Crooked Kingdom together then. *SHRIEKS* I’m going to re-read Six of Crows soon just because NEED. (Also Lady Midnight is perfection so I hope you get to read it soon!! I’m a little annoyed that my edition is like a millimeter taller than my other TMI books. *wails* 😂 Matching editions are the best!!)
AHHHH THANK YOU. I DO TRY. <3
The funny thing is I read this post while actually drinking tea. It’s Red Rose Orange Pekoe. Ahem.
Questions:
Favorite tea and cake? Um…..Red Rose Orange Pekoe, and Mixed Berry Cheese Cake.
Dream Blogging Goals? Um….reach 100 followers by next year. I know, boring. But I like to think in short term, as it’s much easier to manage. But if I have to answer a long term dream goal, I think it would be to be as awesome a blogger as you. You’re like everybody’s goal XD
What book that I don’t have but want? Um….*checks TBR shelf on goodreads* Every Exquisite Thing by Matthew Quick. From the blurb, it seems to be a story that I can really relate to.
*curtsies* Thank you your majesty for inviting me to your Cake and Tea Party! It was awesome XDDD
AHHH YOU ARE WINNING HERE FOR THE TEA PART OF THE PARTY. (I am failing because no tea. *cries* But virtual tea counts somewhat, right???)
And dude. I WANT A RED ROSE ORANGE CAKE RIGHT NOW.
And I hope you get to 100!!! I HOPE YOU GET TWICE THAT MANY! *cheers for you* And dude, I hear ya with needing Every Exquisite Things. YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU. Someone fetch us a bookfairy. We have needs.
Of course virtual tea counts! If it didn’t, that would be very sad.
AND YES OMG. WOULDN’T HAVING A BOOKFAIRY BE AWESOME? Sort of like a fairy godmother, but she’d only be there to hand you books that you wanted lol.
YES. Someone get us a petition to sign for the invention of bookfairies. Who needs pumpkin carriages and glass shoes? WE NEED A BOOKISH FAIRY GODMOTHER ASAP.
Yayyyy, someone else who doesn’t remember character names!! I thought it was just me because I turned 50 last year LOL. I also don’t remember characters from TV shows. And as for your list of quirks, I found myself agreeing with quite a few of them. It’s always good to know we’re not alone in our quirks :).
WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER CLEARLY, CINDY.😂 Names are the hardest!! I even forget half the names of my relatives and call them collectively Frank. #winning😂
Hi Cait.
You don’t need a head-shot photo, all you need are your rubber rain boots.
-I drink coffee and consume Black Forest cake whenever possible.
-I do not blog in my dreams.
-I wish that I had my books from childhood.
happy Reading!
~Icky. 🙂
AHHHHH, thank you, Icky.😂 It will probably stay that way for a looooooong time. hehe.
Also coffee is ALWAYS a good answer. (I way prefer it to tea too *nods*) and also Black Forest cake is my dad’s favourite cake and we have it every year on his birthday!! *flails* CHOCOLATE.
Thank you for hosting the party 😀 I finally find out more about you 😀 Thank you for sharing 😀 I really want to know more about you but I am not sure whether my questions are appropriate or not, so I did not ask you. Now, I have the answers 😀
Yeah!! 😀
Now my turns:
1. Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I love Sariwangi/Tong Tji/Dilma tea bag and
cheese cake, rainbow cake, my aunt’s homemade cake
2..What are some of your dream blogging goals?
Get lots of books that I like for free and find lots of bookworm friends who have similar taste with mine
3.What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Aaah.. it is the hardest question… there are so many of them..
Well, I think it is.. Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration by Ed Catmull, Amy Wallace.
😀
Yayyy, I’m glad you enjoyed the post, Hana!! 😀 It’s definitely fun to find out more about the blogger-behind-the-blog, right?!?😂
1. Omg rainbow cake sounds AMAZING.
2. And YES, getting books for free and review is amazing and a totally wonderful experience. I so hope you get there soon!!
3. Oh that book sounds amazing and motivating!!
I feel like all your bookish quirks are mine too, Cait! …ALSO Conjuring Light! Did you see the cover?! Need it nowwww.
Glad you wanted to tell us about you despite the shyness! I definitely understand being outgoing online and shy irl. I was just trying to explain this to my mum yesterday when she wanted me to go to a party with them. I was like, umm no, because I’ll feel uncomfortable, then I’ll be unhappy, then basically my whole weekend will suck, so. yeah.
Oohh questions!
1. I like baby tea! Lady Grey drowned in milk and sugar, AND COFFEE though you didn’t ask.
2. Dream blogging goals… I have anxiety among other things too :p So I think my goals are just related to not stressing about blogging, making sure it stays fun and stress-free, so it actually keeps helping my mental health instead of… inhibiting it. #healthfirst?
3. The Crown’s Game. I still don’t have it and it sounds so amazing and basically I need it but I already have too many books I haven’t read yet and life is hard.
<3 So much love for this post, Cait! Stay awesome 😉
I loved reading this post! Question-answer posts are one of my favorite sorts, whether they’re like this or if they’re tags or whatever else.
I totally agree about the dust jackets! I mean, if it’s a library book and the dust jacket is attached, obviously I’ll leave it on. But if it’s my book, the dust jacket must come off because if it’s on I freak out about accidentally ripping it or something. (Also, if it’s a library book with a dust jacket, I will inevitably end up playing with the edges or any loose bits of tape/plastic while I’m reading. IDK; it’s just a thing my hands do.)
I actually had been wondering about the pineapple things as well . . . danke for explaining that.
Finally- 19 BOOKS IN SIX YEARS; CAIT YOU ARE AMAZING.
Oh, and my question-answers:
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
Favorite tea is debatable, but probably Celestial Seasonings Caramel Apple. Which is a good thing because we have about a bazillion boxes of it. I like most fruity teas, though. But I don’t drink them with cake, usually, because tea seems more of an on-its-own sort of thing unless it’s iced tea. With cake, I want milk or hot chocolate. And favorite type of cake . . . German chocolate, maybe? Or this Almond Joy cake, which is rich but delicious. You make a chocolate cake in a 9×13 pan, then poke a bunch of holes in it once it’s baked. Then, on top of the cake, you pour this coconut-marshmallow mixture, and sprinkle almonds on top of that. Let it sit for a while, then put this basically-chocolate-fudge icing on it. Again, let it sit/cool/set/whatever. And then eat it. But not all at once because it’s rich and chocolatey and delicious and you will get a stomachache.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I honestly have no idea. Maybe get to the point where I can keep a regular schedule on D&D?
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
A BRANCH OF SILVER, A BRANCH OF GOLD by Anne Elisabeth Stengl. It just came out this past month and I want it so much but it’s so. storming. expensive.
So my favorite cake would HAVE TO BE this amazing chocolate thing my sister made (notice the thing word in there–i’m not sure it can even legit be described as a cake because it was basically three layers of chocolate glued together with chocolate frosting covered in more chocolate frosting with chocolate frosting on top and a bit of chocolate frosting–oh and oreo crumbs). Lemme tell ya, I probably scratched a few years off of my life by eating a slice but I think it was worth it. I think?? My favorite kind of tea is peach, with tons and tons of sugar. I don’t actually care for tea, but there’s something bookish about having a cuppa tea to go with your read. So I drink it anyway. Plus, drinking it in general gives off this cool movie atmosphere.
My blogging goals? *eyes get dreamy* I dunno, I just want A HUGE TRIBE OF TEENAGE GIRLS TO THINK OF MY BLOG WHENEVER THEY WANT FUNNY ADVICE. I love talking to people so comments are like MY FAVORITE THING OF EVER so I wanna get more of those. I’m considering changing my blog over–right now it’s connected to this e-magazine I put together and I think it’s SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF my subscribers. Which is generally a bad thing. Unless you’re a vampire. Which my e-mag is NOT.
Ahhhhhhhhhh let’s see. SO MANY GOOD BOOKS! Okay, it’s a tie between “The Book Thief” and “Walk On Earth A Stranger.” I didn’t appreciate all the cussing in book thief, BUT I WAS SOBBING AT THE END LIKE OH MY WORD I’M GONNA HAVE TO WALLOW FOR DAYS WHO WROTE THIS TERRIBLE PIECE OF LITERATURE I WANNA DIEEEEEEE. But then I got better and read “Walk On Earth A Stranger” and was surprised at the fact I ACTUALLY ENJOYED SOMETHING HISTORICAL!! Like yeesh, really??
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Happy birthday to your blog 😆❤❤!!!!!!
1) I love Moroccan tea 😍, and my favorite cake is brownie!!!!!! (Btw I can cook it by myself)
2) I made my blog at first to share my love for books, now I want to make new friends and sometimes when write a post I feel free! (Am I the only one)
3) The book that I’m dying to have is “The Last Star ” by Rick Yancey.
I’m also shy in real life, though I wouldn’t exactly call myself outgoing on the internet (I mean, come on, I won’t even use my real name). Commenting on book blogs did make me outgoing enough to start my own blog though. 😉 I hate pretty much every photo ever taken of me.
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I don’t like tea. Once, I went on a tea crawl (there was food involved!), much to the bemusement of the person who’d organised it. Not that I was the only tea-hating person there. For cake…I love chocolate cake (obviously) but I also like cream cake, and those strawberry and cream tarts, and strawberry donuts, and eclairs, and cutesy little cupcakes and – I’ll stop.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I am a woefully unambitious blogger. Part of me thinks that it would be nice to have more commenters, but then more commenters = more time, and I am a student.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
The next Embassy Row book. Or, for something that’s actually out, Shadow Scale.
AW CAIT! THIS WAS AN AWESOME POST BECAUSE NOW I KNOW YOU’RE NOT AN ALIEN MUTANT / QUICKSILVER BUT ONLY IN WRITING !!!
19 books in 6 years? See? More proof you’re a mutant! And I’m 5’2″ so ya know… I die first when the sky falls then you go seconds later.
I have been to AU but only once (actually weeks ago when I bought Front Lines). Technically I just stopped over in Cairnes, but that’s AU so YES I HAVE BEEN TO AUSTRALIA! I did the book shopping in New Zealand though. And China… Oh, where? I’ve only been to Macau and Hong Kong in China. I want to go to Beijing though! (99% because of Cinder)
I’ll be answering just 1 & 3 as I have no answer for 2.
1: I love mocha cake. So. Much. It is my life aside from red velvet and chocolate mousse. As for tea… I don’t really like it? (Hah. In my years of existence I have only had one cup of it, some fancy strawberry tea I didn’t enjoy.) Carry on with the tea party though, I’ll swap my tea for water.
3: Ah definitely The Crown’s Game! I really really want to read it. Oh also Dreamers Often Lie. I read Jacqueline West as a kid and now she wrote a YA book ?!? Awesome
Hi Cait and Happy Blogversary to you! I just started my own blog a couple of months ago so 5 years seems like a lifetime away. Very impressive!
Awesome FAQ and I totally feel you on the ‘outgoing on the internet, shy in real life’ thing. I’m the queen of socially awkward in real life, haha.
To answer your questions:
1. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (because CHOCOLATE of course) and although I’m more of a coffee drinker, I do enjoy the occasional peppermint tea.
2. My blog is brand spanking new so my goals are modest at this point. Modest as in like more than 5 followers, lol. No, seriously, I just want to share my love of books and hopefully meet a few friends along the way. I guess you could say I’m looking for my tribe.
3. Gosh, soooo many books on my wish list. I would say A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is probably at the top of the list right now. .
HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY, CAIT!!!! 😀 5 years, holy cow! 😀 And my answers to your questions!
1. I actually… don’t drink tea. Not the hot kind… I’m okay with some peach tea occasionally, though! AND CAKE. How can I pick a favorite kind of cake???? I mean IT’S CAKE. But I’m partial to good ole white cake with some buttercream frosting… *drools* Or basically any cake. 😉
2. For blogging, I want to be the kind of blogger that people read because of a fun personality (like you!!! <3 ), and also one that people feel like that can chat with,
3. JUST ONE???? XD It took me a while to think of just one… but it would have to be Firefight by Brandon Sanderson. I'M DYING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!!!
First of all, you are hilarious. I adore your blogging voice! Secondly – your answers to the secret of book blogging? Spot. On. Thirdly, your description of the birds in Australia pretty much has made sure I will never visit your country haha (who here has a bird phobia? That would be me.)
Questions the great Cait has asked of humble me:
1. I hate tea. And coffee. When it comes to hot beverages, I’m all about the chocolate. Now cake? That’s a whole different story. I have too many favorite cakes. Kind-of like my book TBR list. (How DID you manage to only have 53 on your TBR list?!? Mine is like 100 times that. Ugh. lol.)
2. Dream blogging goals? To take over the world of course. But it seems like that one is already taken. Would you be open to a vice-ruler?
3. Love, Lies, and Spies. Seriously want to read this one.
Congratulations again on your blogging success!!
FRIED EGGPLANT AMIRITE? I went to China in 2014 for 3 weeks and although it’s not my favourite place in the world, I had some great experiences there and the food was DELISH. Eggplant is my fave vegetable – have you tried baba ganoush? It’s Middle Eastern smoked eggplant dip and it’s so perfect, 10/10 would recommend,
1. My favourite tea is PG Tips because I’m a Brit and I’m pretty sure it makes up some small percentage of our blood. My favourite cake is carrot cake, not with walnuts – ew – but with a hell of a lot of sultanas
2. I’ve never really thought about blogging goals before, but I guess some of mine would be to be able to create myself a logo and a nice blog header etc and also to eventually rack up the courage to tell my friends in real life about my blog, because at the moment none of them have any idea.
3. Maybe it’s just easier to tell you the books I already own because UM SO MANY ?!? But high up on my list is The Raven Boys (seriously need to read that asap, what’s all the fuss about?).
A super wonderful congratulations to you yet again for reaching 5 years blogging, I really hope you’re proud of yourself because you definitely should be, your blog is amazing.
I don’t drink tea, and my favorite kind of cake is chocolate. But I think my favorite dessert is chocolate eclair pie.
My dream blogging goal is just to keep it going and make a lot of bookish friends. 😀
There are a lot of books I wish I had right now, but I think the one I want the most would be Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas.
I love this kind of posts!!
I don’t actually have a favorite cake, but I almost exclusively drink English Breakfast Tea. I started blogging about personal stuff in 2010, I continued with a general “lifestyle” label in 2014 and now I found my place in the world as book blogger.
One of my goals is making me readers wanting to chat with me, leaving comments on my blog. I don’t care about numbers, but I do care about community.
I’d love to own the illustrated book of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone! <3
When I was younger I was so shy that hurt, now I'm improving my social skills a little bit, but I can completely understand how you feel!! Happy blog anniversary again <3
My favorite kind of tea is coffee. Strong, Brazilian coffee with heavy cream (no sugar). Or a latte, preferably with no vanilla flavoring. (Also, love chocolate, but if you put it in my coffee I’ll murder you.)
Favorite kind of cake is a coffee cake that my aunt made once. The bread was soaked with coffee and the buttercream icing had this Irish cream stuff in it or something. Ugh, it was heaven.
Dream blogging goals: I’d like to post content on a more regular basis. I really want to start up weekly writing contests, where I award the winner with an ebook (preferably one that I wrote). I hope to grow my audience, obviously. But most importantly I want to put out really good quietly content that will truly help people achieve their writing goals. That’s why I started this thing in the first place. And, as you know, I’m looking to move to a new corner of the internet and do a total rebrand and all that jazz.
I REALLY WANT A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC. I can just tell this is going to be one of those books for me. I library copy won’t due. (Ha. Ha. Get it? Library? Due? Yes, I am funny.)
Once again, HAPPY WONDERFUL BLOGIVERSARY, you are quite the incredible bookish person. I’m an anxious person as well, even if I sadly have to deal with people on a day-to-day basis, I wish I didn’t, and I could live with my books in a tiny igloo.
My favourite kind of tea and cake? THIS IS HARD, because I obviously LOVE TEA and CAKe way too much. I’m always okay with some CHOCOLATE cake though, I just love it too much <3 And for tea, I'd go with strawberry, it's just SO good!
What are some of my dream blogging goals? Can I say, TO BE JUST LIKE YOU? NO? Okay, well this is my joker anyway, haha. All I really want is to have FANTASTIC bookish conversations with wonderful people all the time. I'd love to manage to make book bloggers send each other souvenirs all across the world and books and stuff, (this is one of my most recent projects, called Souvenirs From Across The World), because I love how I can meet and talk with blogger from all around the world and I want to SHARE THE LOVE. <3
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? I wanteed to say BONE GAP but I just got it and I am going to read it soon and I AM SO EXCITED. Also, the new book from Moïra Fowley-Doyle (The Accident Season), and the new Jandy Nelson book. SO EXCITED FOR BOTH OF THESE.
Ooh, I like to know these things. It is interesting to me that we are the same height and a few years apart and don’t agree on all bookish things but hey difference is good. I am not really a fan of cake irl… I like cupcakes better because they come in single size portions and are easier to not have someone spit all over in the event of a birthday. And chocolate cupcakes are the best. I like black tea the most, usually with strawberry or chocolate or other spice additions to change the flavor.
Dream blogging goals? Ehhhh… I would like to have at least twenty comments per post and improve my ability to connect with other people on social media and I have no idea how to accomplish that but they are distant goals so I have time to think.
And if I could, I would have STARS ABOVE by Marissa Meyer because it is on hold for me at the library and has been forever and to be honest I really just want to know who gets married and that’s all. But not in a spoiler way. In an “I read the book, way.” You know?
Double chocolate cake with chocolate icing please. But no tea, if you don’t mind. I’d much prefer an iced mocha frappe.
As for blogging goals, I’m too busy to want to take over the world, though I have considered it. But the time and the organization and all the people who’d want to assassinate me…. Besides, then I’d have to compete against you. *Cue the war of wits of the century* Instead, I’m going for the more modest ‘adored and loved by a worldwide army who can take over the world with the snap of my fingers but don’t’.
As for books, how to pick just one? But one book around the forefront of my list (which is quite long because, unfortunately, one does need money to keep up the book habit. And time to read them; another reason I’ve called off my plans to take over the world) is Resistance, the first book in the Ilyon Chronicles.
Fun post, Cait! 🙂
And you know, I love that though you have such a big successful blog you are so friendly and sweet and not-aloof. <3 Your rock!
Hmm, I love chai tea, English breakfast, roobois, and latte, but my current favourite is actually forest fruit tea. YUM! And so soothing. Haha, okay, but I actually love hot chocolate best of all.
For cake! Ooh, I LOVE, LOVE ice-cream cakes…. *drools* cheescakes are so yummy, and so are fruit-cakes/christmas plum puddings, and sponge cream cakes. . . 😀
One of the books I'm absolutely most excited to get that is coming out this year (this June in fact) is "The Ringmaster's Wife" by Kristy Cambron – she is such an amazing author, oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I totally love the stuff you love about blogging too, and books and bookstagram and all that wonderfulness <3
Blessings!
HAPPY BLOG BIRTHDAY CAAAIIT. Every blogaversary of Paper Fury rolls around marks another year I’ve been following you, because I began (stalking) you on your third birthday. It was right when I started my blog as well, so I’ll always remember you as that sweet blogger who I looked up to and aimed to be in life. (Who am I kidding you’re still that blogger. and ruler of the world i has accepted our fate.)
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? Chai… with coffee, because ew tea. (Not a fan.) As for cake: yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I like things simple. Classic.
What are some of your dream blogging goals? To interview a favorite author in person. To host a blog tour. (To actually take part in a blog tour/hoppy thing.) There are so many I couldn’t list them all.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? PRISONER OF NIGHT & FOG. My library has it nowhere, every used bookstore I stalk does not have it in stock… I really just need to break down and pay full price. #brokebookworm.
Love the post Cait! And can I just say, I am SUPER envious of your shelves. There are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Alright, so here’s it goes then.
My favorite type of tea lavender black tea, which is a breakfast tea that I have EVERY SINGLE DAY without fail. I don’t drink coffee, with is weird, I guess? So my tea is like other peoples coffee. I’m ADDICTED. Favorite cake? That’s easy, purple strawberry cheesecake, homemade and coveted because it only gets made on my birthday. HOW SAD IS THAT?
I would love to have a book blog by this fall. But, I am control freak EXTREME. That means that Blogger ( which I am currently using for my tiny journal blog ) is going out the window and I am going to teach myself WordPress so I can design my own book blog, which is going to take a bit. But I have plenty experience teaching myself things so I’ll get there eventually.
What books do I want? How about ALL OF THEM. I am a poor little pineapple Cait so my library is a life saver. With out them I would never be able to read. HOW SAD WOULD THAT BE? So thank you my dear little library!!! One series I really super want right now though is The Raven Cycle. I am currently on the hold list to get The Raven King checked out so I can read it but I’ve been waiting over a month already! I NEED IT NOW.
I am so glad that you have done so well with your blog! It’s takes a lot of work, so good job! *gives you slice of special birthday cheesecake* Hope you continue to have many more years of book blogging fun.
You can teach yourself Blogger too!!
Haha, but WordPress is so much better! I know, I know… but I’m a Blogger junkie… I love the simplicity and the fact that it’s free yet I can do whatever I want with it! Well there some limitations of course… anyhow… Sorry I replied to your comment even though I’m not Cait *blushes*
No need to blush! I’m super glad to hear from you too! XD
I do love how simple Blogger is, which is why I’m going to keep it for my journal blog. I want to get super picky with my book blog though, which is why I’m gonna’ try something that gives me a bit more control, even thought it might be more complicated to use. So yeah… we’ll how this goes.
Hopefully I won’t break down after a couple of months and buy a pre-made template! XD
1)MY FAVOURITE KIND OF TEA IS NUTCRACKER SWEET BUT IT ONLY SHIPS FROM AMERICA SO SHIPPING IS BLOODY EXPENSIVE AND THEY DONT SUPPLY ANY STORES NEAR ME WITH THAT KIND IN THE WINTER ANYMORE. I only like ice cream cake. That’s the only kind of cake I like yikes
2) I DONT HAVE BLOGGING GOALS
3) I am J by some person. I NEED IT.
Happy blogoversary, Cait! I can’t believe how far you’ve gotten; it’s amazing! I also can’t believe you only have 53 books on your TBR; I have more than 1,000! :0 Anyway, the happiest of blogging days to you! 🙂
Chocolate is a food group. Cake is a food group. Therefore, chocolate cake covers two food groups 😉
My favourite type of cake? All of them. All the cake. (So long as it’s suitable for vegetarians – no animals in my food, please & thank you.)
My dream blogging goals? Actually making money from my affiliate links. I know that sounds shallow, but I’m self-employed due to depression/anxiety, and I really need the money if I’m ever going to move out of my childhood bedroom.
The book I currently really, really, want? The Fireman by Joe Hill – I had a preview from the publishers, plus I’m a total Joe Hill junkie, so I REALLY want it.
Also, I think it’s nice that you’re nice (and random, random is good,) & people really appreciate that (all the better for your growing army!) 🙂
And I’m taking myself out of the running for the ebook, because I have a Kobo, not a Kindle – so s’all good, I graciously withdraw 😀
It was awesome getting to learn more about you. Ok, question answers:
1. My favorite cake is lemon with raspberry icing, and I have to say that chai, with soy milk (so basically a chai latte), or earl grey.
2. Blogging goals: to actually be more productive, and to keep doing it. Also to figure out how to do graphics and layouts, because those frustrate me currently
3. Book that I currently don’t have, but really want: the first edition of Lady Midnight or the second book in the Raven Cycle
P.S. Oops, just realized I’m also out of the running. No kindle.
This is not a recommendation, it is just something I came across…
http://www.amazon.com/100-Days-Cake-Shari-Goldhagen/dp/1481448560?ie=UTF8&ref_=cm_sw_su_dp
What a delightful post, Cait! *raises a tea cup in your honor*
1. For the longest time, I didn’t like tea. I was more of a hot chocolate gal at heart. Then, I tried Earl Grey tea with milk and sugar and found I actually quite like it. I usually only drink it on the weekends though because I never wake up early enough to drink it on a weekday.
My favorite kind of cake is a lemon blueberry cake with cream cheese frosting. Here’s a link to the recipe http://www.cookingclassy.com/2014/05/lemon-blueberry-cake/
I’ve made this cake for the past two years and brought it in for my coworkers on my birthday and everyone raves about how good it is. Seriously, they devour it. Even my friend who doesn’t like cake *gasp* likes this cake.
2. I’d like to be more consistent with my book reviews. I started out with the goal of posting two book reviews each week, but working a full time job and my writing sometimes get in the way of my reading so there are weeks where I don’t even post one book review. Also, I feel like I’m still trying to find my blogger voice. Because I’m also a teacher, I’m very careful about how I present myself online. As a result, I’m worried my blogging tone is boring.
3. The Wrath and the Dawn. I love the story of Scheherazade (I even created my book blog with the goal of reading 1,0001 books). When I read the premise of The Wrath and the Dawn I immediately added it to my TBR list, which is currently sitting at 148. I’ve also heard nothing but good things about The Wrath and the Dawn.
Well to answer your questions:
1) My favorite tea is orange vanilla because if you add vanilla to something I will eat/drink it. And my favorite cake… Chocolate. Or anything with chocolate frosting. I’m very weak when it comes to frosting.
2) Some of my dream blogging goals? Well right now it’s to remember to comment on posts because I am horribly forgetful. But I’m trying😂 Also just to make a lot of friends and be a generally nice person.
3) Book I do not have but want. WELL. Ahem. All of them? *shrugs* Tough question. Probably the sequel to The Crown’s Game or The Fever Code. Because I am extremely excited for both.
Anyway happy blogaversary!!! Yours was one of the first blogs I started reading and I immediately loved it. Congratulations!!!
First, to answer your questions:
1. I absolutely love (and sort of addicted to) Chai tea latte with soy, 2/3rd Chai, 1/3 soy (I’m a bit OCD about my chai, uhm.) As for cake… DO YOU EVEN NEED TO ASK????????!!!!!
2. Ahh… I ask myself that question a lot… blogging goals, huh. Well, I don’t know man, it’s all up in the air… I blog because, like you, I love to write. While I’m absolutely terrible at it, I still want to write, and blogging gives me that platform. As for goals, I don’t know… I’ll just keep blogging until the goals present themselves to me I guess?
3. All the books by Haruki Murakami. EVERY.SINGLE.ONE.OF.THEM. And quite a lot more. I’m always short on money, so I hardly buy books… the library is practically my best friend.
And now… wow DUDE! This post was awesome! By the way, I can never remember the name of the characters either xD
And I also LOVE mugs!!! Etsy is my best friend for hand-made wheel thrown mugs. One day I’d love to make my own mugs… I want to learn pottery for the sole reason of being able to make my own mugs… just mugs, nothing else!
Here’s to many more 5-year blogoversaries to Paper Fury! CHEERS!
HO! love this things 😀
Well my favorite cake is choco cake because CHOCOLATE IS LIFE
my dream blogging goals is never be tired of it 🙂
and the book I want and I don’t have is simon vs the homosapiens agenda!!
I LOVE THIS POST SO MUCH AHH. I just want to say that I’ve been obsessed with Australia since I was seven, and it it my biggest dream to live there. ANYWAY
Here are the answers to your questions:
1) I live in the South, so the old kind of tea I drink is sweet tea, which is very cold and very sweet. I’m not really a tea person, but I could always go for a cup of coffee. I drink it black because that’s the only way to drink it, obviously.
AND I LOVE ANY AND ALL KINDS OF CAKE except when people try to put vegetables in cake. Like, what are you doing ??? The point of cake is that it’s unhealthy.
2) I blog over at thereidwhowrites.com, and my main goal when I first established the blog was to encourage people in their everyday lives. I’ve always loved writing, and someday I hope to write at least one (preferably 87) books. So THAT’S my goal for blogging: to gain enough of a following that I don’t crash and burn when I do get published, and to practice my writing skills so I can become a literary genius.
3) OMG CAIT YOU TOTALLY GOT ME HOOKED ON THE RAVEN CYCLE AND I READ THEM ALL BUT THEY WERE LIBRARY BOOKS AND I WANT TO OWN THEM SOOOOOO BADLY. So thank you for introducing me to that misery.
This was such an awesome post!! Happy blogversary, by the way!
MaryShelley Reid
Only, not old. Ugh, autocorrect.
I am from Alabama, and I realized as I hit the ‘Post Comment’ button, how much sweet tea I drink. You beat me to it, Mary Shelley Reid.
-Lipton?…
No!
-Luzianne…
No!
-Red Diamond?
YES!!!
Haha, nice, Cait! You make me laugh 🙂 Also, I really really really want to visit Australia, so you are like, awesome 😛
1) so I’m not really a tea person… But I do like peppermint chai….
2) well, first I’d like to attain a blog (I don’t currently have one) but after I do, I’d like to reach 1000 followers.
3) ugh, I really want Resistance by Jaye L Knight. I’ve heard so much about it, and REALLY WANT IT!!
AHHHH I FORGOT CAKE. My favorite kind of cake is a chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream cake with a chocolate ganache. SO. DELICIOUS.
So. Many. Cool. Things. HAAPY BLOGAVERSARY QUEEN CAIT!!! LONG LIFE AND DRAGONS FOREVER TO YOU!
Queen Cait, you inspire me to try to write a novel in less than a week. But I think it would kill me. Or maybe just kill my eyeballs. Though it might kill my brain too because I’m not so much of an outliner (though with the not so good way my WIP is going, I think I’m going to have to become one). Methinks I will be very dead at the end of this. Or maybe just mostly dead.
I will be one of the ones to die first when the sky falls. I’m 5’8″.
I prefer 3rd person too!!!
I’m not a tea drinker either….. I like iced sweet tea and the occasional cup of hot tea with sugar. I like Crystal Light Lemon Iced Tea mix. That’s mostly it. As for cake… CHOCOLATE. Or lemon. I like lemon cake. *nod*
Dream blogging goals… getting to a point where I can blog and write and do all the other stuff I have to do or want to do. You blog like four times a week and you still have ideas and it is awesome! Me… when I’m deep into the editing or writing, I don’t blog as much. Partially because I just forget to and partially because I have no ideas and sometimes I’m just lazy.
What book do I currently not have but really want to have……….. hmm. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. Or The Siren by Kiera Cass.
So before I start with the answering thign let me just tell you how much I love you!!! Because you’re ost likely to read this comment than all the other I posted (or didn’t because my computer died, which he does a lot lately) so… I just want to tell you you’re the most amazing blogger I met and at the same time I’m so jealous for you and so happy. My cousin fought with anxiety for a long time and I’m so happy for you that you can be here in your blogging home and talk to all of us and just be the funniest and kindest person in the bookish universe even though you probably would’nt be if every single ne of your followers came to your door and said there comments in person (whoa, what a crazy idea, I’m turning into Madhatter now, duh). And also thank you for all the motivation you gave me because always when I read your posts I just want to read and blog for eternity…
And now the questions (it took a long time, I know):
1. I LOVE all kinds of tea. Like ALL OF THEM! I’m totally a tea person – like a book and five teas a day keep reality away. Just gimme all the tea! And I love your cake, all the cake you’d give e (also my grandma’s chocolate cake, yumm!)…
2. Maybe having enough time to write all my bog posts? Having a better design (somebody save me, my gaphics sucks!), too… And, kind of just being like you in the sense of having so many followers and staying so tre and yourself and happy and kind. I’d just love that!
3. I should just say ALL OF THEM, but the first book you made me think of is Stars Above by Marissa Meyer. I pre-ordered Winter in English (even though it’s not my mother language and I struggled with it so hard!) and I stilll don’t have Stars Above!? Like, why? Marissa Meyer is perfection! Just gimme more books from her!
So, I guess I freaked out enough there. Hope I didn’t scae you too much (just a little bit, a tiny revenge becuase of your dragons)…
I really love you, stay who you are 🙂
Marky | Books are my life… (That’s my blog’s name, not my life motto… Or maybe the two ;))
Ooookay. Favorite tea. Uhhhh. The only tea I’ve met that I didn’t like was iced tea. I used to hate sweet tea but the last time I tasted it it wasn’t that bad o___O but for the most part, I don’t like cold tea. And for hot teas: I prefer flavors I can put milk in aka not fruit tea. Fruit tea is STILL GOOD AND YUMMY I just like milky creamy teas. Ones I currently have that I love//have loved (I binge drink my tea which means I drink one flavor for 87 weeks and then hate it for five years and then taste it again and wonder why it took me so long to try it again. Yes I am strange) pumpkin spice, caramel, Irish breakfast, English breakfast, Lady Grey. I also have that Chai Spice Dragon tea that’s pretty good, but I don’t have it very often.
FOR CAKE: I’m actually not that big on cake. Unless it’s like amazing chocolate + caramel + idk awesome stuff. I LIKE CAKE but it’s not my favorite dessert. But if you put anything chocolate + caramel in front of me, I will inhale it.
Blogging dream goals would be like… posting regularly. Enjoying writing posts. (seriously my least favorite part of blogging is probably //writing the posts//. I don’t HATE it… I just wish I enjoyed it more XD) I don’t even mind not having that many commenters. I just wish I had the time and dedication to write//post more often. Basically: BE MORE ACTIVE ON MY OWN BLOG XD
Book I currently do not have but want: this is a cruel question, Cait. Also I can never think of an answer to these types of questions when they’re asked XD I would probably say Cress, or Six of Crows, the Winner’s Curse trilogy, Siren’s Fury and Siren’s Song, annnnnd. Like 98 other ones. And also all the Fruits Basket mangas. THOSE TOTALLY COUNT AS BOOKS. I have the first three volumes individually, but also volumes 1-6(or maybe 8) in collection volumes. BUT I NEED THE WHOLE SERIES ASAP. (there are like 25 volumes so yay. I probably won’t have those til I’m 65)
(also, don’t put me in the running for your ebook giveaway ^.^ ebooks aren’t really for me)
This is so much fun!! Tea and conversation and CAKE!!!!!!!!!!
*raises hand sheepishly* I am also quite a bit more outgoing online than I am in real life. In real life I’m an introvert, and a shy one at that; but I’ve had people tell me they assumed I was an extrovert just because of how I seem online . . . so. But it’s fine. IT’S ALL GOOD. Introverts are cool, and being shy is cool, and there is no need to be ashamed of who we are, am I right? 🙂
Now for the questions!
1. Tea–I don’t reeeaaaaaaaaaaaally drink tea, but I LOVE the way it smells. Go figure. Cake–definitely pineapple-upside-down cake. IT’S SO SO SO GOOD. (See that? You’re not the only one who loves pineapples 😉 )
2. I don’t actually have a blog, but I WISH I could have one. So I guess that would be my dream-blogging-goal? To actually have a blog?
3. Books I don’t have but really want to have: “Silver Canyon” by Louis L’Amour (because it looks amazing and my library doesn’t have it); “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak (which I really want to read because of REASONS); “Les Miserables” by Victor Hugo (because it would be cool to say that I officially own it, no?)
I love organizing books by colour too, it’s so aesthetically pleasing! And I’M SHY TOO and awkward, I am very awkward so *high five*! I also don’t like pictures being taken of me, I panic and then pull a stupid face and JUST NO PICTURES OKAY.
I’m not a fan of tea (I love hot chocolate), I will always choose chocolate cake but I love most cakes! ;D
A blogging goal of mine is to increase my audience (I WANT TO MAKE ALL THE FRIENDS) and have a better blogging routine as my posts are quite sporadic and I would prefer it if I had structure. *nods*
And gosh, there are SO MANY BOOKS I WANT! My top choice would probably be The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick! 🙂 Thank you!
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? I don’t generally drink tea, but I LOVE CAKE. There are so many kinds I like, but I think my favorite would be strawberry shortcake. Or pineapple upside-down cake. Or chocolate cake. Or maybe vanilla . . . 🙂
What are some of your dream blogging goals? I don’t have a blog but I really really want to. Maybe someday!
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? Silver Canyon, Louis L’Amour. Or The Book Thief.
Favorite Cake: Depends on the day, but I usually prefer fruit flavors. Tea? Not really a tea person, but I like lemon tea from time to time.
Dream Blogging Goals: Um, figure out how to blog consistently again. Also reach 100 followers. I’m currently at 94. #SoClose. I’d also like all my followers to become my adoring fans, but maybe that’s asking a little too much???? Nah. I need adoring fans.
What Book DO I Want That I don’t Have: Um … most of the books in this category I don’t have because they’re not out yet. But maybe Cress. I’ve not been able to get my hands on that yet, and I need some scifi Rapunzel, please and thank you!
1, Green tea and chocolate cake with any kind of flavored frosting. Or just cake in general.
2. I am not a blogger, but if I was, my goal would be to get all the good ARCs. I would not be a very good blogger.
3. The Wrath and the Dawn. Everyone is talking about it, and it looks good, but for some reason it is not at any of the local bookstores, and I always end up liking print books better than Kindle.
I didn’t know your dog’s name was Atticus! I am currently reading Go Set A Watchman, and I am mostly thinking WHY DID THEY KILL *spoiler but I assume you’ve read it?* JEM?
These were actually all questions I had thought of myself. So very good question picking!
My TBR is at zero books. I have NOTHING to read besides the book I am currently reading😫
Great post! The cake was delicious!🍰
I love Earl Grey and like those triple chocolate ice cream cakes.
Oooh, um, probably get 100 followers. xD
I would…um…maybe A Torch in the Night(?) idk really.
This was so much fun to read! I’m glad I’m not the only person who never remembers character names. Well, I guess the problem is that I DO remember character names, but I never remember which name goes with which person. It’ll be like “ooh, Megan, I TOTALLY remember reading about her” and then .02 seconds later “but wait…which one is she again?” So knowing the names isn’t much help.
I am VERY picky about my tea, and my favorite is apple cinnamon tea with two teaspoons of honey. I’ll tolerate pretty much any herbal or chai tea if it’s sweetened a bit, but that’s the only tea that I love enough to drink multiple mugs of per day. My favorite cake is red velvet, but my friend baked a lemon cake last week and it was AMAZING. My dream blogging goal is to actually have a schedule. I’ve tried to make schedules, but they fall apart about 3 days later and then suddenly it’s been a week since my last post and how did that happen? But I’m gonna keep trying anyway And the book I NEED to have right now is As I Descended by Robin Talley. I’ve been looking forward to this book for TWO YEARS now, and it’s coming out in September. I’m kind of terrified that I’ve overhyped it for myself (is hype even a verb? it is now), but it just looks SO good and I LOVED Lies We Tell Ourselves, so I’m still hoping for the best.
YES, DUST JACKET OFF WHILE READING. Because how else are you going to keep it looking perfect??? It annoys me so much when people borrow a hardcover and it comes back with the dust jacket all creased or torn because they didn’t take it off. AND I’M TOTALLY JEALOUS OF YOUR BOOKSHELF. Partly, because of just all the books, but also partly because it’s so photogenic and whenever I take a picture of mine it looks very un-pretty.
And I drink tea like I drink coffee; with more sugar and cream than actual tea. WHICH HEY, TEA SNOBS, IS ACTUALLY VERY DELICIOUS.
This is such a lovely idea! You bookshelves are SO PRETTY. Very calming to look at!
Favourite kind of tea and cake? Unsweet mint iced tea! Nothing like it for a bit of refreshment on a hot Texas summer day.
Dream blogging goals? Eh… maybe I should actually HAVE some blogging goals? I guess I would like a little more interaction with other readers, but with my blog being semi-dormant right now that ain’t happening soon haha.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? This is a tough one. Hm. Probably something off of my Classics Club list, like ‘Wide Sargasso Sea’ maybe???
I love your blog/twitter/everything and I really admire how you attack people with friendship and laughter!
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I like deep, earthy oolongs like Russian Caravan, and lots of times I enjoy them with soymilk. My fave cake is carrot cake with a lightly sweetened frosting like cream cheese or bittersweet chocolate.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I started my bookblog trying to be a fun and lighthearted girly sounding person, but that’s not actually who I am. I’m not good at doing deep analysis of things either. So now I just use my blog as a kind of journal, and I really enjoy looking back through older posts because of that.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
I don’t know!! I get books from the library so I don’t have an attachment to very many physical ones.
Yay for blogversaries!
Favorite tea?
Lately, I’ve been mixing chai tea and coffee with a dash of cinnamon for good measure and maple syrup for sweetener. I know that probably sounds similar to drinking muddy water, but let me tell you, it smells and tastes AMAZING!
Favorite cake?
Oo oo oo! There’s this flourless chocolate cake. When it’s warm, it’s all gooey and yummy, and when it’s cold, it tastes like fudge! It is so good! (Also, that cake in the gif you posted looks divine!)
Blogging goals?
Right now, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got, but it would be nice if I had more people reading it. (But then again, I’m a shy little human who doesn’t really spread her wings and comment on every single blog she follows *ducks*)
Book I really want?
Well, I haven’t read The Ilyon chronicles yet, and I’ve heard that they are awesome, so book one would be nice. Also, I really would like to read The Five Enchanted Roses compilation done by Anne Elisabeth Stengl.
Thanks for hosting such a wonderful party!
Honestly Cait. Now I’m craving super chocolatey chocolate fudge cake and can’t have it because ALLERGIES 🙁 It’s been a while since we’ve interacted, but I’ve been silently reading your blog posts regardless of how hectic life gets (yours are always top priority).
LOVED getting to know a little more about you! I usually drink plain old English tea myself, and as FOR CAKE. Chocolate. of course. Although I love nutty cakes, and carrot cakes, and coffee cakes too :’)
My blogging goals is basically to be as consistent as you are! I let life get in the way of blogging 95% of the time, and I’m still trying to figure out a way to balance both. Whenever I sit down to write a post I feel a little rush, and it just reminds me of how much I love writing about books and how incredibly beautiful this little book blogging community is.
As for what book I don’t have but NEED IN MY LIFE. There are so. so many, But I’m going to go with Six of Crows for now. I have heard GREAT things.
Some of your weird facts made me feel good about myself, knowing I’m not the only one that does them. Whew *me relaxing*. Did a Kookaburra really attack your face?! That is one exotic scary bird. That is sad about the baby chicken to. I used to have chickens and they are always cutest when they are babies. It makes me want to find a witch/magician and make them, make a potion to stop baby chicks from growing. Let the cuteness last forever! My favorite cake is CHOCOLATE! I love anything chocolate. My favorite tea is Chai or black tea, but my tea definitely has to have a spoonful of sugar and two drops of honey exactly (I’m a weirdo) My mom always gives me a look like I’m crazy and says “That is a lot of sugar,” I shrug and put it in anyway. Since I don’t have a blog, I will tell you my dream blogging goals for Paper fury. I would like to see your blog win next years *bookshimmy* awards, or get one of your books published so I can sniff it forever. A book that I don’t have and I really want to have is The Great Gatsby. I have never read that but the movie is my favorite of all time, and ever since The Great Gatsby has just been on my TBR list.
HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY, CAIT!!! You’re that much closer to ruling the world. *nods* (I would gladly be your peaceful subject who brings you cake, as long as you provide free pet dragons.)
Um…so your answers are GOLD. SERIOUSLY THOUGH, YOUR COMMENT ABOUT YOUR HEIGHT KILLED ME. I AM DEAD. I’m actually 5’7″-ish so I can’t really relate. But I like to think that I’m an Elf. I’ve got long hair and the height so…yup, I’m totally an Elf.
INTROVERTS UNITE. That is all.
Is it bad that I want to pet all your books? I mean, they’re so BEAUTIFUL. ALL THE COLORS. ALL THE AWESOME. CAN I COME OVER AND PET THEM AND SMELL THEM???
Whelp, here are my answers to the questions since I’m nice like that and decided to answer them:
1. Wellllll…I’ve never actually HAD hot tea before? TRAGEDY OF TRAGEDIES, I KNOW. I’ve had iced tea, and that didn’t end well. #notafan However, I did win some tea in a giveaway so I’m hoping to try it and like it and basically be awesome. As far as cake is concerned, I WILL EAT IT ALL. GIVE ME CAKE, PRECIOUS. My favorite kind is probably strawberry, though. Also vanilla. Aaaand lemon. Oh, and let’s not forget chocolate. BASICALLY I HAVE NO ANSWER TO THIS.
2. Not bore people to death? Hehe. I dunno. Maaaaybe have a more consistent blogging schedule? I’m pretty bad about that. 😛 OR GAIN SUPERPOWERS THAT ALLOW ME TO RESPOND TO EVERYONE’S COMMENTS AT ONCE. That would be useful.
3. One does not simply pick ONE book to own. I swear, there are 190456 books that I want. (Do not question my math skills.) A few that I really want to have are Illusionarium (by Heather Dixon) because it is GLORIOUSNESS, The Silmarillion (by Tolkien, obviously) because WHY DO I NOT HAVE THIS?, and A Spy’s Devotion (by Melanie Dickerson) because reasons. SO YES. I obviously NEED more books.
Thanks for being an awesome dragon, calling us pineapples, and giving us cake. You’re the best. 🙂
This was such an adorable post. I really enjoyed reading this. There’s actually quiet a few things we have in common. *High fives* Yay us!! Let’s just be best friends already. Lol
Okay so…. the questions. Here we go!
1. I LOVE chai tea. I also really love any kind of black tea, specifically both English breakfast and Irish breakfast. Yum. So good. I love all kinds of cake. I don’t even know if I can pick my favorite. Umm…. Uhh…. I love carrot cake and chocolate cake and funfetti cake and vanilla cake….. all the cakes really. All of them. I don’t discriminate.
2. I really just want people to love my blog as much as I do. I want to be able to fangirl about all the stories and characters that I love in a place where people can understand what I’m talking about. I also hope it can get me a good platform of readers for if/when I publish my books. Plus, I totally agree with you about the complete domination over one small part of the internet. INTERNET QUEENDOMS UNITE.
3. ONLY ONE!?!? There’s never only one. There’s WAAAYYYY too many that I want. I’m obsessed in every way!! I HAS A PROBLEM. I really REALLY want the hardcover of Illuminae cause that book is friggen GORGEOUS. I also really want the Mists & Whispers book by C.M. Lucas and Inherited by Freedom Matthews.
THIS IS SUCH A PROBLEM ISN’T IT?! Like jeepers girl, you must be so busy, I don’t know how you even keep up with ANY of our blogs to be completely honest!! BUT I GUESS YOU PROBABLY JUST HAVE SUPERHUMAN POWERS AND STUFF. (there is that.) “But as my blog grows, I feel like I talk to you all LESS because I want to talk to you ALL.” <<< I was literally just talking to my dad about this the other day (he's super into marketing things online and is kind enough to help me manage my life haha) and I was like, "There's something so sad about having a lot of followers because you don't get to talk to them ALL." AND IT'S JUST SO FORLORN-SEEMING. Like omg I have a fraction of a fraction of the followers you have and I can barely keep up (and often don't keep up.) BUt ahem. Enough about me. OH, wait. I guess this is all about me, you say?? this post?? YAY. ME TIME. xD
STOPPPP STOP THOSE TEA AND CAKE GIFS ARE MAKING ME HUNGRY THIS IS NOT VERY KIND, CAIT. HELPHELP. XD AHHADHSHA THE PIED CAKER OKAY THAT'S YOUR NEW NAME. <3 I love the idea of an FAQ that nobody asked for tbh. It's so much more comforting to know that you can read all our minds. xD “And yes it’s possible to be outgoing online and shy in real life!”<< THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. Literally I am so much the same. I'm very very quiet and generally reserved in real life, but I seem like just the opposite online. The other day my sister's friend said to her "You're probably almost as hyper as Abbie!" and she was like, "umm…no." Because let's face it Katie bounces off the walls half the time while I sit there like a small mute squidling. XD But I like to think that the internet is like our OUTLET for that side of our personalities?? LIKE I JUST DON'T FEEL THE NEED TO BE HYPER IN REAL LIFE BUT WHEN I'M ON THE INTERNET, I'M BUBBLING WITH ENERGY. IT'S STRANGE.
OMG THE BIRDS IN AUSTRALIA SOUND FREAKING SCARY. Although I'm confused bc how could the kookaburra slice your face if you don't have one??? MUAAHA I HAVE FOUND YOU OUT SEE YOU REALLY DO HAVE A FACE YOU'VE GIVEN YOURSELF AWAY. 😉 that is seriously horrible tho. and hehe omg I feel so sadistic saying 'hehe' after the thing about the baby chicken :'( but seriously a 'butcher bird' sounds like the last thing you would want inside a coop with your baby chickens. O_O
“I may have had a breakdown once or twice but fried eggplant and rice is delicious.” <<< THAT IS THE BEST TESTAMENT OF GOING TO CHINA OMG. x'D “You would notice this because of the fact you would not meet me in person.” AHAHA THIS IS ALSO ME TOO. oh my word. And the best way to know if someone is shy. You haven’t met them yet = they are shy. leave it. XDD (I will probably now use this as an excuse to not meet anyone new thankyouverymuch.)
Being honest here I am slightly mesmerized by the Lilo and Stitch GIF (fun fact: when we were little my sister fought tooth and nail to have our cat named Stitch bc we were so obsessed with that show XD) BECAUSE IT IS LIKE A SEAMLESS LOOP ALMOST DID YOU NOTICE THAT?! OMG. IT’S MESMERIZING. IT GOES ON FOREVER. IT IS LIFE.
also how can you not like tea. ALSO HOW CAN YOU STILL BE READING THIS COMMENT?? LIKE IT IS A BOOK BY NOW BUT YOU LIKE BOOKS SO I GUESS I’M OKAY.
SHOW ME THE HATE COMMENTERS AND I WILL SHOW THEM MY WRATH. Seriously remember the office revamp thing I did?? Remember the blue arrow stuck to the wall? IT CAN EASILY BE UNSTUCK TO THE WALL IT IS A WEAPON AND I SHALL USE IT AGAINST ANYONE WHO MAKES MY QUEEN SAD. (honestly I am such a loyal and modest (ahem) subject.) It’s inevitable and so WRONG UGH. I hate it when somebody leaves a negative comment on something I created — even though there are a thousand GOOD comments, that one bad one just sticks with you, doesn’t it?? at least for me :/ BLAHH.)
OMG DUDE I THINK I HAVE CHATTED FAR TOO MUCH. xD But I’ll still answer these questions because I’m having a literal party over here blabbing about myself hopefully that’s good with everyone.
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? << OMG HARD QUESTION. I love sooo many teas. But chamomile will always be my first love. Then black tea with pecan caramel almond creamer << HEAVEN I THINK. Cake = always chocolate but lemon is cool too. Honestly I don't care as long as there is frosting.
What are some of your dream blogging goals? << TO BE EVEN A FRACTION AS FABULOUS AS YOU ARE.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? Bone Gap. (WHICH I NEED, OBVS.)
AHHAHAHAHAHAHA GOOD THING WORDPRESS DOESN’T HAVE A WORD COUNT LIMIT ON COMMENTS.
xD *wilts forever*
lots of love,
abbiee
I used to really hate tea, but it’s starting growing on me since I experienced some more expensive tea. So basically the stuff in the grocery store is gross, but Republic of Tea and Yogi are drinkable. :p
I loved this FAQ! You answered everything I never knew I wanted to know about you! 😊
Here are my answers:
1. My favorite tea is also Chai. I do enjoy other flavors, but Chai never lets me down. And as for cake, Angel Food is the best! I could eat a whole one by myself.
2. My dream blogging goals would be to actually blog. I am the worst! I just feel like my life is the most boring life ever and I never have a anything to write about.
3. As for what book do I want that I don’t have……..besides all of them, I guess I would pick any Maggie Stiefvater, since I haven’t read anything by her yet. I know, I know. (Hangs head in shame and slowly backs away.)
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? My #1 tea is Twinings English Afternoon, followed by a good ole Earl Grey, and Chai is a close third. I’m a fan of all cakes unless it has cream cheese frosting (then I eat around that but there will be a mark against that particular cake), but to answer chocolate, vanilla, or carrot.
What are some of your dream blogging goals? To consistently blog and build up my readership. Ideally, I’d review all the books I read but I can’t seem to get myself in the habit.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas. It comes out Tuesday, May 31st. I’ve been dying to get my hands on it.
What a fabulous post! Here are my responses:
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
Green, bergamot, chamomile, chai latte, red latte, Thai iced tea, mint iced tea, bubble tea (does that count?)… all of the tea. Except maybe dandelion — that’s too bitter. Chocolate cake is my favorite food. I am so hungry for chocolate cake right now, especially after that lovely gif at the beginning of your post.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I’ve been blogging for several years and still don’t feel like I’ve found my voice yet, so I’d like to figure that out. I also would like to have at least 100 followers. I feel like maybe these two are related somehow… 😛
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Samara’s Peril by Jaye L. Knight. Which — I have a hunch — I’m probably getting for my birthday in a few weeks. 😀 Also, because I can’t pick just one, Nyssa Glass and the House of Mirrors by H.L. Burke and The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye.
YES, YES, YES. PSYCH. The show means a lot to me since I watched it with my parents. TV Shows can really bring families together. XD And I can wholeheartedly say that I feel way more comfortable behind the camera then in front of it.
1. There are two kinds of tea that I absolutely love: Milk Tea with Boba and Black Rose Tea. Although I am more of a coffee person. XD AND CAKE I think Vanilla cake with lots of sprinkles is fantastic. But I am particularly fond of a cake I baked for a Harry Potter party I went to last year, it was a replica of the cake Hagrid brought Harry when he came to take him to Hogwarts. I’m still very proud of it since I’m Isabelle LIghtwood when it comes to the kitchen.
2. Goals? What are those? XD Well, I’d love to make more quality posts, but since I’m a pro procrastinator I don’t think it’s possible. XD But I’d just love to make more friends!
3. There are two that I’ve been drolling over for the past few months: Bookishly Ever After By Isabel Bandeira and The Only Thing Worse Than Me is You By Lily Anderson. Both of the books are about fangirls and I’m such a sucker for YA books that have fangirls and fanboys as main characters.
Aside from the fact that I am literally twice your age and live in the US, we have a lot in common (including height, or lack thereof).
So, on to my answers:
My favorite tea is sweet rose and I really love vanilla cake with raspberry filling and a whip cream frosting
Hmmm, dream blogging goals… to develop friendships with other bloggers (and meet them IRL), to have people love my blog, and to share great books with the world.
And final answer… another tough one since I want ALL THE BOOKS and cannot buy any right now. I will have to go with One With You by Sylvia Day, because it concludes one of my favorite NA series.
I have to admit that my first thought was: “what on earth is a kookaburra?”. I mean, really. That didn’t make me any less scared of wildlife in Australia.
I don’t know what my favorite tea would be. I guess either lemon-green tea or plain white tea? As for cake, there is always room in my stomach for chocolate cake. And tiramisu -homemade, obviously.
I just want my blog to reach other book lovers! And maybe that those book lovers pick up a few recommendations from me, and find a new favorite book too? I know that sounds silly, but it’s the truth. There is nothing better than someone absolutely loving a book you recommended to them.
As for the books I’d like to own. Really Cait, where to start? Honestly. I’d go with The Winds of Winter. BECAUSE REALLY, YOU NEED TO WRITE A BIT FASTER, GEORGE. I honestly feel like I’ll never know how that story was supposed to end (3 more books, 15 more years till the end?) which makes me very sad. And angry. I’d like to read Crooked Kingdoms too because I recently read Six of Crows. Oh, and Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch! Its release date was pushed back again until September, and I’m dying to get my hands on it.
Congrats Cait!
First of all, happy blogoversary!
I also prefer books in 3rd person, but I’m completely opposite you on the audiobooks thing. I’m definitely a visual learner. I’m like 0% auditory learner. Spoken things go in one ear and out the other and I don’t comprehend them at all because my mind starts receding into itself lol. But with reading things I’m forced to actually focus.
Ok now the questions… I actually do not like tea, but I recently started drinking kombucha which is a fermented tea, so it counts! Although I do have to mix some Crystal Light into it because it tastes like beer otherwise :-/ Will I be kicked off your blog if I say I don’t each much cake? Lol. But I will go with chocolate as my favorite 🙂 And I supposed one of my dream blogging goals would be to get a physical ARC from a publisher. Your third question is just unfair though because there are lots of books that I want but don’t have, and you can’t make me play favorites like that!
My favorite type of cake is yellow with chocolate icing. I don’t drink tea. BUT I do like hot chocolate! I would love to be able to design my blog beautifully (i’m working on it this summer) and I would like more people to comment on my blog so I can discuss books and other things with more people. I don’t have The Rose and Dagger yet and I really would like to read it. I loved The Wrath and the Dawn when I read it.
I actually really like that I don’t know what you look like, you could be part dragon for all I know. 😀
Your bookshelf is like your treasure horde ( a well organized one)
Favorite kind of cake is any and every flavor, pretty much the same with tea, but I like vanilla flavored ones the best.
My dream blogging goals, is just to have fun and meet other writers and readers, maybe to inspire people.
ooo book questions are tough, probably Cinder. I need to read it!
Oh, that cake gif! I really want some cake now, as chocolatey as it gets. This post made me laugh so much! Also, I had no idea that pineapples was a Psych reference?! Seems I need to brush up on my Psych.
“As you wish” Me: I understood that reference!
But, hey at least you have legs. In real life, when I go out into the world of people I always wear jeans. On those very rare occasions that I wear a skirt or shorts people are like, “What? You have legs?! I didn’t know.” Which is a strange thing to say. People are strange. What did they think I had?! Tentacles? Um, no.
That Lilo and Stitch gif! YES!
I’ve been trying to do the audio book thing. But some narrators are very. . . irksome. Like I tried a Rangers Apprentice, and whatever the narrator was doing with Will’s voice it was wrong. I did like this one narrator who did a Percy Jackson, but then the library CD started skipping too badly. BUT I recently borrowed Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book read by himself. And I’m so excited. It’s my first Gaiman book. The thing is, I’ll most likely listen to it at night and I’m not sure if it’s going to be creepy?
HAPPPPPYY FIVE YEARS!!! *squeal* that is CRAZY awesome!
Fav tea: Green (duh) what else what you expect from a Chinese-Canadian?! But my crazy side also loves the fruity iced teas ie. lemon iced, raspberry infused anything, or anything from Teavana.
Fav cake: DON’T MAKE ME CHOOOSE. Okay, I like chocolate and cheesecake. YUM. I want some cake now…
Dream Blogging Goals: Waaaay too many. I would love to be part of a book tour, go to a BookCon, have a guest author be interviewed on my blog, develop THE bookstagram, meet many more book blogger online (and in person), build up my follower count, and write more and more!!
ALSO, REACH A FIVE YEAR BLOGVERSARY LIKE YOU DID!!! #seriousgoals
Book That I would Love to Have: ooohhhh, so many to choose from!!! The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski or The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh but that’s because I need it on my shelf. But I really REALLY want It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. I’m dying to read that book! Just three more months until release day!!
Love this post!! Glad to see there is another Ausie Cait out there who loves books! Your blog is so creative and beautiful. Seeing that you have posted a new post always makes my day 🙂
I have got to say…. any cake has got to be the best. But my Grandmas famous (to me at least) secret cheese cake I think will always have a special place in my stomach.
And I NEED HEARTLESS. My Marisa Meyer books look lonely without its beauty next to it!!
1) Sadly I don’t drink tea. I tried it once and was horrified at how horrible it was and I swore that I would never drink it again. Cake, on the other hand, I will eat in any shape or form as long as it doesn’t have coconut on it.
2) I don’t blog (mainly because I would post once a month and eventually forget about it). My schedule’s constantly changing and I struggle to even find time to READ! (someone hold me!)
3) WHERE DO I START!?! the Scourge by Jennifer Nielsen (comes out August), Winter by Marissa Meyer and the rest of the series so I can reread all da books! Oh, and that one book I’m going to read at some point in the future and basically fall in love with. I want that one now!
I’m only five foot two (and enormously proud of it, thank you very much!) so I beat you by one inch – which makes me sad because I love being short and THE SHORTEST.
Also, you have never been to America??? Can I say that makes me like you TEN TIMES MORE??? Because we are EPICALLY LAME over here, man.
Wish I could say I have visited your lovely country, but alas, I have not. In fact, I have never been out of the country. Please don’t tell anyone. My traveling experiences have been very limited, even though I LOVE TRAVELING!!! SO MUCH. So when I have my own car I will travel FOREVER and ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Loved your thing about organizing your books by color. “THE BLUE ONE” – haha:) You make me smile, Cait.
Haha, I absolutely love cheesecake! Mostly because I like cheese 🙂 Tea? Ah, I do like Oolong tea – tastes better than Green tea in my opinion 😀 Blogging is so fun (stressful sometimes) but I hope to build my blog bigger and connect with loads of bloggers! GAH so many books I’d love, but I think I’m desperate for Rebel Of Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. I know, I still haven’t read it. Oops 🙂
Ooh, what a fun idea! My favorite kind of cake is lemon cake, though chocolate is delicious also. I don’t drink tea, but I love apple cider and hot chocolate. And orange juice, because that’s pretty much the best. 🙂
Some of my dream blogging goals: Um…to have lots of people who read and love my blog and make them all buy a book of mine if I ever get one published. And I want to meet people and have interesting conversations and just talk to new people (since I hardly ever do that in real life…). I don’t know, I’m fairly satisfied with my blog right now even though it’s small. It’s still quite fun. 🙂
A book I would really love to have is one of the Stormlight Archive books by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve already read them, but since I love them so much I’d love to actually have them permanently, since practically all of the books I read I just check out from the library.
Fun story for you: After reading your blog I decided I wanted to organize my own books in color, but since I usually just go to the library I have about one shelf of books that I actually own, so it doesn’t look as awesome as your shelves do. But I still like it and it made me immensely happy to do. 🙂
Thank you for being “an anxious perfectionist bean”, Cait. It definitely pays off when you make such wonderful, delightful posts. I did not see that pineapple reference (I think I just generally assumed it was like the cake thing). I don’t have a favorite cake or tea because that would be like trying to pick a favorite kid. But since we know parents often do have one they are partial to, I am partial to a really rich chocolate cake and green tea. I’ve always wanted to start a blog and have half started two but was never happy with the name I chose so they have been banished to the dark corners of the internet. There are so many books I desperately want that I’ve given up trying to list them or systematically trying to acquire them.
Congrats on 5 years, Cait! *throws mini cupcakes into the air*
Random funfact: I call people fruitloops sometimes but not in a nice way. Well… I guess it’s my nice way of calling them an idiot/weirdo?
My favourite tea is white rose tea, which I think they discontinued from T2 a while ago (I was devastated), so now my current favourite from T2 is Melbourne Breakfast. But I do love my green teas as well. And my favourite cake ever is definitely cheesecake. Plain cheesecake that’s really cheesy is best but I’ll happily devour any kind.
My blogging dream right now is probably to get to 5 years like you. My first year blogoversary is coming up and I’m already unsure how much longer I can keep up with the blogging. 5 years seems so far away!
And eep… too many books to mention. Lately I’ve been reading a lot of Heather Demetrios so I want to get my hands on Something Real.
Happy 5 years again and I hope you have many more blogoversaries to come <3
Hiiiii! Congrats on 5 years!!! Also, I’m 5 feet tall, so if the sky falls, you and I will drink tea together and eat all the cakes because obviously you don’t want them to spoil 🙂
Speaking of tea and cake. Chai tea = best tea. And since I’m Pakistani, I’m talking about Pakistani chai tea – made on the stove, nice and creamy, with the scent of cardamom. As for cake, chocolate cake with chocolate icing hands down! BEST KIND OF CAKE IN THE WORLD. (I’ve heard that if you eat it, you can fight all those bad trolls that hide under bridges and try and stop you from going to the bookstore to buy even more books)
I’d love to be able to self-host my blog at one point. So that’s a goal. Oh and I want a beautiful website design – something that goes with aforestofbooks 🙂
HOW CAN YOU ASK ME TO PICK JUST ONE BOOK? I really want The Cursed Child (I’ve preordered it, so it better come on time). Also, I really want Crooked Kingdom, even though I haven’t read Six of Crows, but I just know I’m going to love, so I need it, and the pages are red and it’s beautiful 😍😊
Happy Anniversary, Cait! 😀
– I’m not a huge tea fan, either. I like iced tea? idk. Americans are uncultured when it comes to tea.
– I’m definitely a cake fan, though. I’m not picky about the type, but no sprinkles!
– Dream blogging goals…hm. I guess I’d like more followers? But I’m also perfectly content where I am, because I just like the act of blogging. I try not to find my blog’s worth in the amount of readers I have….but it would still be nice for it to grow. =)
– Well in honor of your fav author/books, I’d have to say The Scorpio Races. 😉
Hey Cait!! Your posts are so much fun. Loved reading through the whole thing and laughing. (I still have hopes that we may see your face one day, before you turn into a hobbit). ANd 19 books. Wow. *Bowing down to you*
Here are my answers:
1. I do not have an absolute favourite! I drink chai everyday (ALMOST) and I recently discovered a cranberry apple tea which is so summery and delicious. SO that one is my current favourite for a few weeks (More precisely until the satchets get over). And cake? I love cake. My favourite would be carrot cake. Cream cheese frosting you say? That would be heaven.
2. Well thre are so many goals. Firstly, blog more. Then change the design of the website a bit (I need more time!!!). Thirdly find more nice blogs to follow. Fourthly sound a bit more enthusiastic in the posts (Sometimes I sound like a dead man). Fifthly, …(eh, well I think I will stop).
3, That would be Court of mist and fury! Or the new VE Schwab? Well that one is not released. SO it is the ACOMAF. Actually it is ACOMAF and A court of rose and thorn as well. Haha
1-I love Earl Grey or green tea . It’s literally <3 <3 <3, I like plain old vanilla sponge cake, cheesecake, or ICE CREAM CAKE BECAUSE VANILLA ICE CREAM!
2-I want to be completely happy with my blog in a great community. Followers would always be a milestone but my goal is to continue blogging for years and not get bored of it because it's my own space.
3-I just finished reading The Darkest Part of the Forest and I really want the book to display on my shelf, What booklover doesn't want to just stare at the pretty books on the shelf? If we're talking about books I haven't read and badly want to read, then 3 off the top of my head: Let The Sky Fall, The Raven Cycle and lastly, Tiger's Voyage (from Tiger's Curse series).
I live in Australia too and there's so many ducks around rivers and lakes (I always get them mixed up) and once I was feeding ducks and they crowded me so when I hid the bread behind my back, a sneaky duck crept behind me, jumped and nipped my fingers!
I'm totally guilty of judging books by covers on whether I want to read it or not and I forget names easily too. Oops. Like you I delay books and shows I know I'll cry over, like to read in quiet, prefer 3rd person, love new book smells, and currently trying to decide what to read next from my TBR because time is a problem and OMG I'M SO EXCITED TO READ CROOKED KINGDOM THE COVER LOOKS AMAZING I NEED THE HARDCOVER. (and yes I read with the dust jacket off). However I don't like audiobooks. I tried it once and probably never again because I'm not an audio type person, I'll just fall asleep and I need to concentrate to hear what they're saying because I will lose attention too easily.
Gah, I love Psych SO SO SO much. I’m insanely happy the pineapple thing is mainly from that show. Pineapples always make me think of Psych now. HAH! I’m pretty shy as well, but I’ve gotten a lot better. I would LOVE to work from home though. I mean, I’d still have to do stuff and get out so I don’t go too crazy, but in general, that would be ideal. 🙂
I don’t drink tea. I don’t like hot drinks. hah I do like frappicinos though!
-Lauren
Loved the post and getting to know more about you Cait! It’s funny although we’re incredibly different we are, how we share so many similar interests and passions. My dream blogging goal would be to go to BEA one day. My favourite tea is this delicious vanilla and black tea called Melbourne breakfast from t2. Cake? All cake!
Err… I don’t drink tea. *insert dramatic gasp here* I KNOW I KNOW. I just don’t think they’re delicious or… something (though my mom basically lives by tea every day and makes me try them all the time no matter how much I refuse). As for my favorite cake… As long as it has a lot of whip cream, I’m good. xD Though I usually stay away from strawberry cakes because some of the strawberries have these transparent gels on them to make them stick on the cake or something and I don’t like it. >..<) at the same time. Also, that I'll never get tired of blogging to the point that I'll take have to it to the afterlife with me. xD
P.S.: COVER LOVE IS AWESOME. I STARE AT MY OWN SHELVES EVERY DAY BECAUSE OF IT. #NOSHAME
First, true story, I totally planned to do a fake FAQ/Q&A on my “About Me” page! I even have it in my drafts, but I was having trouble asking myself enough questions. Someday I will come up with more, I suppose? It’s hard since I already know the answers 😉 This is to say, I enjoy this format!
My favorite part of this post, and the part that shot iced coffee out of my nose is “You want an epic fantasy? YEAH LEMME GET YOU THIS GOOD BLUE ONE.” BWHAHAH. Dying. Also, your bookshelf is freaking GORGEOUS. These are goals, Cait. I’d be like “You want a fantasy? Ummm here are 12 shelves of disorganized books that I wasn’t aware I even owned…” Oops?
Let me now answer your questions!
1. Iced tea. But not *real* tea, like, the crap from a container? Think Snapple. Is that even a “thing” in Australia? ::shrugs:: And ummm can I say cheesecake? I really am craving cheesecake.
2. My goals are to be like Cait when I grow up 😉 I kid, I kid. Okay: My goal, ultimately, is to make people happier than when they showed up? Or at least, more entertained? Also, I would really like if I was one of those people who publishers threw books at, but that’s secondary, I promise. Actually, it isn’t the books I crave, it’s the approval. I want the publishers to look at me and say “good job, soldier” and pat me on the back, and the way they generally do this is with books, so yeah.
3. Are there books I don’t own? Cait, I don’t KNOW, because I feel like maybe I own them already, but I actually don’t know. Just… you probably won’t pick me, so don’t worry about it 😂 I came here for the chatting anyway!
happy blogversary!! i love your blog so much it makes me so happy.
1. my favourite kind of tea is my nougat and honey tea (it’s amazing) and chocolate cake because, well, chocolate cake. 2. well i hope one day i have at least ten followers of my blog (i only started like today so yeah) #nice 3. i currently don’t have GEMINA and i really really really really want it. really.
thanks for having an awesome blog i love you bye
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? As far as tea goes then definitely the tea that other people call dinner, because food is good. Oh wait you meant the drink! Woops, well I like to smell it, but don’t make me drink that stuff!!! But cake, now you are talking, chocolate cake every time. Especially when it is my mums home made chocolate cake with thin but sweet and shiny icing dribbled all over it and dripping down the sides, especially if eating it when warm. Now I want it……
What are some of your dream blogging goals? Um, to inspire people and make them laugh, and I guess to have more followers, because as much as I am happy with touching only a few peoples lives more followers is undoubtedly cool.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? Um, every book! Okay not EVERY one but so many, right now…. not counting un published books, every book K.M. Weiland has written. I can’t believe I only got around to reading her books now. (Though that is probably because I can only afford to get them on kindle, and I do just love to have books actually in my shelves.)
Hey Cait.
I’m definitely a boring person, plain Jane vanilla cake is AMAZING… and I’m a tea addict! CAFFEINE FOR LIFE!!! Believe or not, I’ve been designing my blog for two years now, but I’m so scared to get it on the road. I keep on making excuses… So my blogging goals, is to start a blog – I mean how much more longer can I put it off for?!?!?!? Answer: Very looooong! I’m currently looking forward to a bunch of books, but my most anticipated one is “And I Darken” by Kiersten White, “The Trails of Apollo” and the “Six of Crows” duology. I also want to get into all Melina Marchetta’s books.
Once again, HAPPY BLOGVERSARY!!!! Hope your enjoy your tea and cake!
Favourite tea: earl gray, half water and half milk with an embarrassing amount of sugar.
Favourite cake: I dunno, this one’s hard. They have a really good chocolate cake in Woolworths that’s to die for.
Dream blogging goals: Once again, I dunno. I don’t know if I’d ever want a blog as big as yours because I’d never be able to keep up, especially with uni next year. I’d rather have a small but dedicated and friendly follower group thingy where I know everyone and can regularily visit all their blogs. I think I would faint if in your position :/ (so thumbs-up to you for doing so amazing!)
Book I really want: *rolls out list*
And with your bookshelf, I’m terribly impressed but it hurts my OCD a little. Don’t you have to split up series/authors for the colour thing to work? I think that would break my heart and crush my soul. And I can’t do the vertical stacking thing. It’s too hard to get it out and put the book back in order without it all tumbling down. BUT YOUR SHELF LOOKS BEAUTIFUL! Happy blogoversary!!
Aaaaah – I feel we know you a whole lot better now. I am so happy to see that we will be some of the last people to die when the sky falls. Might just be able to finish one last chapter.
Answers to your FAQ:
1. Favourite kind of tea and cake? I am proudly South African, so my favourite tea is rooibos (red bush). Very delicious and healthy too. You can even wash your face with it (nod nod nod). We’ve got more than one skin-care range in SA where the main ingredient is rooibos tea. I love carrot cake, but I’ve always been more of a tart. Again, proudly South African – milktart. (Let me know if you need a recipe)
2. Blogging goals. Uhmmmmmm…… I’m still a sucking infant here. So I guess at the moment I hope to just stay afloat and keep going. But I would love to be able to look back one day and see that I stayed true to myself and are still doing it for pure enjoyment. If WWIII is going to be a cyber war and bloggers have to chose sides, I hope to be part of your army LOL.
3. What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you really want to have?? Geeeesh, tough one. One with words? good words. Preferable English or a really good Afrikaans one. Not too much bla bla fish paste, Something unexpectedly beautiful.
Hope you are going to have a great week!!
I loved this post! I couldn’t help but smile. 🙂 You should do this more, because I want to know more about you. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
1. Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I love all kinds of tea, especially the tropical ones, but I usually just stick with green tea. I have absolutely no idea why. It crept up on me. I am in love with banana flan. You can wake me up for that at all times. Gosh, I love that.
2. What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I hope to grow and put myself out there and just enjoy. To not feel pressured, but just enjoy the whole book community.
3. What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES. I do have A Court of Mist and Fury, but sadly ACOTAR is missing in my collection.
Also, again, happy blogversary! Thank you for being a great pineapple. 😀
Hello! I do love tea parties, drinks all around! You know, I think Dumbledore would throw an excellent tea party. ANYWAY. You already know me, of course, because I regularly stalk you and you give me the funnies. But what you DON’T know is I love tea but I’m very picky about it. I almost solely drink Earl Grey. Sometimes I’ll branch out to try something new and then go running back to Earl Grey, which I drink with lots of milk and lots of sugar and cranberry cookies because they are delicious. But I suppose I can make the sacrifice *sigh* and have some cake with you.
Hiya Cait, this was such a great post! It’s lovely to learn more about you! My favourite type of tea is just, ya know, normal tea and my favourite cake is either lemon cake or chocolate, because you can’t go wrong with chocolate right? My dream blogging goals are to actually start a blog and to make it a place that I love posting even if others don’t particularly like it. And the book that I really want but don’t currently own is The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. Not quite sure why I haven’t read it yet but I definitely will soon!! Just wanted to say that I love reading your blog and hope that you do someday get to rule the world with all of your dragons xx
You’re absolutely great! I’m glad that you seem very okay with being a shy person. I think too often people consider shyness something to “overcome”, but it’s so so normal and no one should feel pressured NOT to be shy. You do you so perfectly and I’m happy you’re blasting your friendliness across the bookweb!
Answering your questions –
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? – EASY PEASY. I love Jasmine Tea and Lemon Cake. Especially the lemon cake my grandmother made (and now my mother makes) that requires lemon jello mix, Lemonade, and TONS of powdered sugar. Nom nom nom!
What are some of your dream blogging goals? – To have a dang good time.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? – I’d really love to get my hands on the Illustrated Harry Potter. I don’t know why I haven’t bought it. Makes no sense when I try to think about logical reasons why I don’t own it yet. I’ll probably end up splurging when the 2nd one comes out and buying both at once. There are just SO MANY BOOKS that I want to call “mine”! Do you know how often I daydream about buying a bookstore? Buying an ACTUAL BOOKSTORE! I’d dog ear ALL THE BOOKS to be evil and to stake permanent claim. *villainous giggle*
Happy Bloggiversary! You are much appreciated! Keep on keepin’ on! <3
CAAAIT CONGRATS ON 5 YEARS. <3 Your blog is still one of my favourites! Love this post, too 🙂 Getting to now people better is cooool! So, in that same vein, here are my answers to your questions!
My favourite kind of tea is probably Russian Earl Grey (it's my first cup of tea every morning – creature of habit). It's Earl Grey (which is delicious on its own) with the addition of citrus peel. YES PLEASE. And my favourite cake…. HOW CAN YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN MY BABIES?! I honestly have no clue. Something fruity, probably. Ooooh, or carrot cake! Nope. Can't choose.
I don't really have any specific dream blogging goals. I'd love to be sent more physical ARCs, but most publishers that approach me and say that they "took a look at my blog and loved it" don't read to carefully, because when I give them my address (which is obvs in the Netherlands) I suddenly never hear from them again. Funny how that works! I've received one physical ARC from Penguin a few months ago though and that felt SO COOL. I'd also like to build a bigger following on Twitter, Instagram and Bloglovin. But most of all, I want to keep having fun! Over the past few months I've been getting more comments, and that's been really great 🙂 Really makes blogging worth it!
Books I don't own but desperately want? ALL OF THEM. But more specifically: My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories, because I've been wanting to read that for 2 Christmases now. :') Oooooh or Carry On by Rainbow Rowell! :O Still need to read that too!
This was fun! Like I said: this post is awesome, your blog is awesome, you are awesome! As my father would say: "keep up the good works!" (no matter how hard I try explaining it to him, the fact that it's work singular instead of works plural just doesn't seem to stick)
Hey, Cait! It’s been a while. You might not even get to this comment. I have missed you. I liked the way you described certain things, like how you feel looking into the camera. I knows mental illness is not beautiful, but the description was. It’s okay to have anxiety. I know what you’re talking about, although mine isn’t as crippling as yours.
Anyway, happy things! You’re amazing, and it is so awesome that you have blogged for FIVE years. I loved your photo and your shirt. And even though we can’t see your face, I think it’s kind of cool, mysterious allure.
It reminds me of that painting related to surrealism. That apple in front of his face. We are obsessed with what we cannot see, I’m sure you’re really pretty, but the fact that I can’t know that is fascinating.
ANYWAY.
I like various teas. I drink something called Jon Hemsworth or something or another that helps me to sleep. I like that, also echinichea and chamomile. You? Usually like plain/rum cake?
Dream blogging goals. Probably to host people on my blog. Blog for at least five years, so, four more to go. 🙂
Oh, um, If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo? 🙂
I am also much shyer IRL than on my blog! It’s a thing.
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
I do not like tea. I usually have a milkshake instead. Cake, hmm, chocolate fudge cake or maybe lemon drizzle.
Dream blogging goals… to keep having fun with it for as long as possible? Or maybe become someone that Tor actually send review copies, because gah, I always want their books.
Books I currently do not have and want to have… actually surprisingly rare. Geek Feminist Revolution by Kameron Hurley is about to come out and I will want that. Or more of Marie Brennan’s series with faeries in Elizabethan London… I think the next one I’ll need is A Star Shall Fall.
YES IT’S A THING *hi fives* It’s just honestly so much easier to be (kind of) an anonymous bean online, typing instead of talking.😂 I love it.
Basically anything and everything with chocolate. CHOCOLATE SHOULD BE ON EVERYTHING. (well, desserts. 😂)
Whoop whoop, party time! Nothing like a virtual party to discuss the best things in the world and sharing teas and cake hehe. Biggest congrats Cait !! Side note, there are bis of you that feel like I’m looking into a mirror – Australian, 5’1, 22? Yep, that’s me as well.
Er, it’s going to be too hard to choose a favourite cake! That’s asking for the impossible – but cheesecake and carrot cake are top contenders. Tea would have to be green! Blogging goals always vary but mine is consistency. Being able to pump out posts every week that I love and hope everyone else enjoys 🙂 So many books to buy but currently I’m eyeing The Rose and The Dagger or The Star-Touched Queen!!
I hope your blogoversary has been phenomenal, You’re such an amazing person, keep at it!!
YAY FOR VIRTUAL CAKE PARTIES! *shares pineapple cake with all* Ahhh we are the same age! *22 year old hi five* We are kind ancient though. HALP. WHERE HAS CHILDHOOD GONE I WANT IT BACK. Ahem. Cheesecake though. THAT is the best answer of the world. Because I’m pretty sure the planet exists to give us cheesecake.
AWW THANK YOU. <333 THAT IS SO SUPER NICE TO HEAR.
Love your posts! I don’t always comment on them but I do enjoy reading them. They make me laugh! Lemme start with answering to your 3 questions…then share 3 random facts abo it myself, because I’don’t love for you to get to know me too 😉
Q: Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
A: I love all types honestly….although the I’m partial to icecream cakes and red velvet! I’m more of a coffee person (as my blog name indicates) but my fave tea is Earl Grey 👍
Q: What are some of your dream blogging goals?
A: To improve my writing skills and to just write better blog posts and reviews…boring I know but still goals 😅 also to meet and get to know more bookish bloggers! Oh, let’s not forget to have fun in the process!!!
Q: What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
A: As of this VERY MOMENT…oh dear…I have quite the long TBR LIST! Perhaps everything on my list which I don’t own at the moment 😉 greedy I know…it’s an issue when it comes to books
So 3 random facts on me:
– I’ve spent 2 years in Australia and sadly did not explore the Aussie YA scene or in fact any Aussie authors 😑 sad but true. It was a good opportunity I let slip.
– I love to sniff books too…
– Sadly does not have a fully stacked bookshelf…most of my books are either in storage or are ebooks.
And again…love your blog!
Aww, thank you for commenting Kim!! IT’S NICE TO MEET YOU!! *shares pineapple cake with you* It’s ALWAYS awesome to get to know everyone so this comment is stupendous! <3
Ice cream cake is amazing and YES to coffee. I will always pick coffee.😂 Or mochas because everything is improved with chocolate, right?!? hhehe. I've never met a book blogger IRL either! :O AND YES TO HAVING FUN WHILE BLOGGING! That's one of my biggest goals. :')
I live in Australia and I've never met an Aussie author.😂 So I totally understand that. BUT YAY AUSTRALIA! BEST COUNTRY EVER. (I'm slightly biased.😂) And sniffing books = good life decision. It's not our fault they smell so wonderful, right? WE ARE FORCED HERE.
OMG I AM SO EXCITED FOR GEMINA TOO!!!!!
This is an awesome post, so many things to comment on!
I love your shelves, they’re so pretty 😮
You are so funny, and you have such a personality on this blog. I love it so much, and so do all of your readers. I could never imagine you as shy in real life! You have such a presence 🙂
And now for the questions:
1. I don’t actually like tea. But I drink Green tea in the morning for caffeine because I’m trying to give up coffee. It’s been a week so far and it is HARD. My favourite cake is a simple vanilla cake with delicious vanilla butter cream icing 😮 I want it now. So badly.
2. My dream blogging goals are to earn enough money from blogging that it becomes my full time job, leaving me more time to travel the world, blog (of course) and enjoy life. My 9-5 job sucks.
3. The current book I WANT to have is Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!! I’m so impatient. I want it now. But I also don’t want time to go faster until I get it…
Happy Blogversary! (Blogiversary :p)
Jordon @ Simply Adrift
GEMINA NEEDS TO COME TO USE IMMEDIATELY *GRABBY HANDS* 😂 And aw, thank you about my shelves! I really love my bookshelf. hehe. IT IS MY TRUE LOVE. AWK! But I know!😂 People find it very hard to believe I’m shy. But I’ve just worked hard to be outgoing online and I basically use up my energy here, hehe. ;D
1. UGH TO GIVING UP COFFEE. :O That sounds like fresh torture. *weeps for you* And vanilla cake is niiiice although I have to admit chocolate always wins for me. 😉
2. AHH WOULDN’T THAT BE THE BEST?!?! I would love to be paid to blog. We work so hard at it, right?!? It’d be AWESOME to get paid for it.
3. HAHHHAHA. Soon, sooooon. 😉
I love this post, Cait!
I am also on the shorter side, and I never thought about it that way – we’ll be the last people to die if the sky crashes!
I also collect and have a bit of an obsession with mugs – my favorite is shaped like an owl.
Okay, so here are my answers to your questions…
My favorite type of tea and cake: Orange Pekoe tea and either tiramisu or cheesecake – I also like red velvet, though!
My blogging goals and dreams: I want to move over to WordPress and redesign! I am actually working on that now and I CANNOT WAIT until it is finished!! It’s a lot of work but I know it will be so worth it.
A book I currently want to read but do not have: Dreamology by Lucy Keating.
WE WILL BE THE SURVIVORS. #winning And omg you have an owl mug?!? That is the cutest!! I have one that says “if I look interested in what you’re saying, I’m actually not”😂 It’s my favourite. haha. Ahem.
CHEESECAKE THOUGH. <3 The planet spins because there's cheesecake basically. And yayy for WordPress! It honestly is. the. BEST. I was so scared to move but it was also the best thing I ever did. 😀
Yay for being short! I’m 4’10”, which means even the petite size clothing are usually too long. I always have to cut the bottoms of my jeans off or cuff them. Anyways…..that’s so cool that you stayed in China for 4 weeks! I watch too many KDramas and therefore want to visit South Korea! I wish I had a bookshelf to organize by color! My room is too small for a bookshelf. *sad face* Believe me, I’ve thought of getting rid of my bed just so I could have a bookshelf and I would just sleep on the books!! haha!
~Sara
AHHH I’M GOING TO STAND NEXT TO YOU! *hi fives* You human of my size. :’) Honestly it’s my pet peeve when book characters are “short” and they’re like 5’4 or something. THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SHORTNESS.😂 Ahhhh, Korea would be awesome! We actually ate a lot of Korean while we were in China (idek😂 we are weird) and it’s dELICIOUS so I’d go there for the food!!
So you clearly need a bigger room. *nods* Or a smaller bed? A HAMMOCK!!! Then you’d have room for shelves!
HAPPY 5 YEARS! WOOP!
And cake? DID SOMEBODY SAY CAKE?!
In all seriousness:
1. Colour-ordered books are fabulous
2. You are so wonderfully friendly and approachable, and it’s a super comforting thing for us less-well-known bloggers! Muchos love. <3
3. The Hunger Games was also my kick-start into YA.
4. Anxiety sucks, Mine used to make me throw up. Yay medication!
5. I love your blog. Ignore the people telling you to change things or what you could do better. Your blog is full of personality, it's a welcoming space, the photos are gorgeous and your reviews are interesting!
AHHH THANK YOU! *flings confetti everywhere*
And YAY THAT OU LIKE COLOUR-ORDERED BOOKS! 😀 It’s the only way I can arrange tbh.😂 And aww, I’m so so glad you find me approachable!!! THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I’M HOPING FOR TBH. I know it can get daunting when a blog gets big (and tbh I’ve been ignored by a lot of “bigger” bloggers, so that kind of hurts. 😛 I’m attempting not to be like that honestly) hehhe. SO YAY. CAKE FOR US BOTH.
Ugh to throwing up with anxiety. 🙁 I totally know how you feel.
AWWWW. *CRIES HAPPY TEARS* THANK YOU THOUGH. <3 YOU ARE THE SWEETEST AND THIS JUST AFJDKLSAD THANK YOU. IT MAKES MY DAY.
LOOOOOVED THIS POST CAIT!!! It is filled with awesomeness!!!
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I’m a Bong and I love Bengali chai! And cake, well give me anything chocolate and I’ll vanish it!
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
Basically to conquer the world and make everybody crazy like me.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
ILLUMINAE by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff!!! I still don’t have this! What am I doing with my life!! *cries*
AHH THANK YOU POULAMI!! *flings confetti everywhere* And dude YES to chocolate cake. Chocolate anything. And I think converting everyone to being crazy is an excellent goal. BUT RULING THE WORLD IS MINE, FYI.😂 Ahem. Ohhhh you haven’t read Illuminae yet?! YOU NEED GET ONTO THIS. 😀
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
Hmmm… I guess I’d have to go with chai tea. But only decaf, because I can’t do caffeine. And the milk can’t be real because I’m lactose intolerant (and vegan). As for cake… Well, to go with the chai tea, then I might want something spicy. Like a gingerbread cake. Is there such a thing? If there isn’t, there should be.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
Get more than one comment a month? Hahaha… Seriously, though, I’m not too worried about my book blog. It’s mostly just a place for me to store my thoughts.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Memories of Ash by Intisar Khanani. I pre-ordered it, and it comes out tomorrow, so my Kindle will have a lovely surprise for me in the morning. Well, it’s not really a surprise because I know it’s coming. Anyway, I have been waiting for the sequel to Sunbolt for ages; I want it NOW!
1. Chai tea is delicious!! My mum makes it on soy and it’s sooo good. AND YES TO GINGERBREAD!! I mean, idek if it’s bread or cake??? IT TASTES LIKE CAKE. Let’s say it’s cake.
2. Aww, that’s still awesome though. 😀 Blogging for fun is the BEST.
3. Omg I’ve never pre-ordered a kindle book THAT IS SO COOL!! I hope it’s seriously awesome for you!! 😀
1) I’m British and a walking stereotype when it comes to tea. Basically the best kind of tea is a PG Tips with a dash of milk and a teaspoon of sugar, preferably in the largest drinking vessel from the cupboard. However, I’m not fussy and will drink most variations of English Breakfast Tea (which I think is what Tetleys, Yorkshire Gold and PG Tips are variants of, but I’m not 100%), as I actually can’t function in a day without my morning cup of tea. However, I actually really hate fruit teas as they never, ever taste as good as they smell – they are perfumed LIES! As for cake, it would have to be my grandma’s chocolate cake – I have never ever tasted any chocolate cake as good as hers!
2) Dream blogging goal? Erm, is it bad that I don’t really have one? I’m writing a lot of book based posts these days, but I’d like to branch out and bit and do some posts on baking and crafting, share my other loves with the blogging world and all that.
3) There are many books I really really want to have!! I need the sequel to Illuminae in my life immediately and October is so very far away… otherwise, I think my next book purchase will need to be Cress by Marissa Meyer – it feels like forever since I finished reading Scarlet!
1. hehe, that is wonderful about the tea! YOU DO YOUR COUNTRY PROUD! And I think chocolate cake is probably the best kind of cake of ever, right?!? CHOCOLATE ON EVERYTHING.
2. That’s still an awesome goal!! And I hope you achieve it. SOUNDS EXCITING.
3. ZOMG GEMINA. I NEED IT TOO SO BADLY. *waits impatiently for October* Or wait, November? Gersh. I don’t even know when it comes out BUT I NEEDED IT YESTERDAY. SO.
I LOVED READING THIS SO MUCH!!!
Wait giant spiders AREN’T a constant concern in Australia??? Because they’re literally my #1 reason for never wanting to go to Australia. Otherwise I want to visit someday BUT I CAN’T DO GIANT SPIDERS.
Let’s see:
1. Favorite kind of tea and cake?
I actually don’t really like tea. *hides* But I haven’t had it very often, so I might like it if I tried it more. I like sweet tea alright. (Oops my southern is showing.) As for cake, I like basically any form of cake. But let’s be real, chocolate is the BEST.
2. Dream blogging goals?
Oh gosh. Hmm. I’ve never really made a full list. I need to redesign my blog DESPERATELY, so I guess that’s a blogging goal. I just want to keep creating content that people enjoy and can connect with! Also let’s be real, being half as awesome as Cait is always a blogging goal.
3. What book do you currently NOT have but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Agh. ALL THE BOOKS!! Um. I’d really like a copy of All The Light We Cannot See, because I got it from the library but haven’t actually bought it yet. I’m completely blanking right now because I’m super tired but I feel like I have a giant list of books I want. XD
Congrats again on five years, Cait!!!
I’M SO GLAD, GRACE. *FLAILS HAPPILY* But hahah, nope. I mean, there are huge spiders here, but you seriously don’t SEE them all the time. Like I used to live in an old house that had them, but like mostly not???? IT’S NOT EVEN THAT USUAL. THE INTERNET IS LYING LIKE USUAL.
1. I don’t like tea either mostly so no need to hide here.😂 And I AGREE: CHOCOLATE. ALWAYS WINS.
2. Omg.😂 I’M LAUGHING. AHAHAH. Your blog is wonderful, btw. Just sayin’. 😉
3. YES ALL THE BOOKS IS THE RIGHT ANSWER FOR THIS TOO OMG, YOU AND ME BOTH.
Thankyou!
I did an interview with myself for my 1st year blogiversary since I didn’t have a giveaway… And sheesh! What is it with those people asking the questions?!
Yes. Pictures eat away my soul. Dangit, Mother, please understand! #gorgeousdragondaughterproblems
Three questions. Yes. Right.
Tea = Gah! I only drink chai. Maybe. Out of my family of eight, I’m the only one who doesn’t like it. What is wrong with them?! But mochas and lattes and coffee are good. Though I’m not aloud to have it. So I drink it when I”m home alone. #rebel
Cake = CHEESECAKE. Every year for my dad, mom, and my birthdays, I make cheescake. It is delicious. But other then that, ice cream angel food cake that my grandma makes, and now so do I. It is delicious. And I make it, so BIG PIECE FOR ME.
Dream Blogging Goals = Well, people don’t comment much, gosh darnit! I try, I really do. BUT. When I said that I’m writing a Flynn Rider (TANGLED) punk character, everyone fangirled in the comments. WHAT EVEN?! (Also, every time that I write fangirl, it turns out as fanGRILL. Ummm…)
Book = I really want UNWOUND because my friend just did an awesome review. I want The Raven King, but I guess that I MAY need to read bks 1 and 2… And Beyond the Gateway because it’s by my favorite author and IT’S BE OUT SINCE NOVEMBER AND BRYAN DAVIS IS MY FAVORITE OF ALL FAVORITES AUTHOR AND IT WAS THE ONLY THING I ASKED FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND I DIDN’T GET IT. *dramatic sighing*
Anyways. Yes. That was quite a long comment… Well, congratulations to you! And may the odds ever be in my favor for all the giveaways. 😛
Interviewing oneself is the BEST way to do it though. It’s like we have all this EXCELLENT INSIDE INFORMATION. *flips hair fabulously* I think more people should do self-instigated-FAQS.
MOCHAS ARE LIFE THOUGH. I looooove making them at home. It’s like the best part of my weekends. 😂 YOU REBEL hehe. And cheesecake = DUDE YOU KNOW WAHT’s UP. Cheesecake is THE cake of all cakes I think.
Ah, fanGRILLING is always fun. It’s like barbecuing those feels, right?? #winning😂
aFDJSALD YOU MENTIONED THE RAVEN KING AND NOW I’M GOING TO BE FANGRILLING FOREVER BECAUSE THAT IS MY FAVOURITE SERIES OF EVER *SHRIEKS* *SHRIEKS AGAIN*
Oh, you are cruel. I am suddenly craving a piece of my favorite chocolate cake with mint frosting, but I don’t shop on Sunday. How will I survive? Obviously I need to stockpile a few pieces in the freezer.
Just today I commented in my Sunday Summary about how much I hate having my picture taken.
By the way, WHICH blue book was that that you were telling us about. It’s looks like you might have more than one?
—
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? – I don’t drink tea, but see above re: cake
What are some of your dream blogging goals? – 1) have at least 1 comment on every post, including reviews 2) have a big name audiobook publisher contact me and ask me if I want to review their book
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? – Hmm, (I hate having to choose) if we’re talking ebooks then I would have to say A Matter of Magic by Patricia Wrede
I’M SORRY. (I’m not even tho. 😂 Mwahhahah #EvilOverlord) But duuude, I really need chocolate cake too, so consider it double torture for both of us.
Ugh photos are just the WORST. 🙁 I shall hide from the camera forever.
Those are SUPER awesome goals and omg audiobook publishers do that?!?!? OKAY THAT IS AWESOME I WANT TO DO THAT TOO.😂 I love audios! (They’re just so darn expensive tho. Agh.)
I don’t know if they do. I hear about regular bloggers getting onto publishers’ lists all the time and hope that someday it will happen with an audiobook.
Fun post! It was great getting to know you. Any particular reason why you went to China? Just wanted to see it? Family or friends there? I’m going to Japan in August and I can’t wait! Haven’t been there in over 10 years. 🙂
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
Assam tea (known as Irish Breakfast here in the States). I drink it every day. Cake is anything chocolate and rich.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I’m an author so my blog is an accent to my life, though lately I’ve wanted to book blog more and have more discussions!
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Uh, that’s a hard one, since I usually just buy what I really want (perks of being in your 40s!) Let me look at my Amazon wish list… Hmm, my wish list is 5 pages long! THEIR FRACTURED LIGHT, the third book in the Starbound Trilogy. 🙂
AHHH JAPAN SOUNDS AWEOSME!! So my older sister and her husband and kid were living in China for a few years (doing missionary work) so we took a touristy-holiday/family-meet-up.😂 It was really great because we saw a lot of China from like a local’s perspective! (Not that my sister is Chinese, but just that living there they knew all the insider information, if that makes sense.)
CHOCOLATE IS THE RIGHT ANSWER TO EVERYTHING, TBH. And yayyy for bookish blogging and discussions! They’re always fun and I love getting to compare opinions with people. :’) AHHHHH THEIR FRACTURED LIGHT IS REALLY VERY GOOD! *flings confetti over it*
Dandelion or ginger homemade lattes? Cait, you’re a closet hipster. Actually a very small closet hipster that could fit in my pocket.
I love these getting to know you posts, as you rarely do them and it’s a rare insight into the girl behind the blog <3 I do prefer blueberry rather than pineapple I must admit. I have a thing about pineapple on pizza and expect when you rule the world, you'll put a stop to that madness. I didn't know you left the country! That sounds like a little while before I discovered you pesky notebookers 😉 but holy shit, you're up to 19 books now? At last count, I think you were up to 12. How does one write 12 books, makes paper brilliance (who are still on my hall table and looking fiiiiiiine), blog, make necklaces and write up discussions? I'm now convinced that there's more than one of you. Or Atticus has learnt to type. We may need Mum Fury to confirm this. pretty sure I'm right though.
I only drink tea very occasionally and it HAS to be English Breakfast. Cake and I just don't seem to get along. Unless it's those mini cupcakes that are more frosting than cake. Just a bit dry for me and feels like I'm eating flour. I have the same thing with muffins too and donuts.
This year I'm hoping to see out the year still blogging. I've taken a break this week and have realised that it's basically the first real break I've had in over three years. I just want to take a step back and do other things and just blog sporadically or once a week.
There's a few, but I won't answer so a more deserving poppet wins <3
I AM A VERY SMALL CLOSET HIPSTER FOR SURE. You caught me. You wait till you read my book someday, I swear it’s an accident, but it’s absolutely full of hipsters. #shame
AHHHHHHHHH THANK YOU KELLY. THIS IS ACTUALLY THE BEST COMMENT EVER YOU FABULOUSLY WONDERFUL THING. <3 (But seriously what's wrong with pineapple on pizza? Come now.) And yes. 19 books. 0_0 It's probably becoming more and more obvious that I have no life but shhhhhhh, let's pretend that's not true. The trick is not SLEEPING EVER> I mean, what even is so fun about sleeping? Nothing. But I do admit that when I get behind I make Atticus pick up the slack. And the clones. And the dragon secretaries. The real actual me just gets to sit around all day tbh.
You clearly need to have a GOOD cake though here Kelly. Cupcakes are delicious though. And cheesecake. *nods*
OMG DON’T STOP BLOGGING THOUGH BECAUSE I WOULD CRY SO MUCH. I WOULD CRY LIKE 9 TIMES, KELLY. THAT’S SAD RIGHT??? But taking breaks are good *nods* I’m going to take another hiatus really soon to write (shhh) another book. I think taking breaks helps one blog more enthusiastically tbh.
Oh, great FAQ Cait. <3 I also can't read with noise. This is why I read a lot less when my husband is home with his Summer vacation (which is coming up in a week, sobs). And I prefer 3rd person as well. Me and first pov generally don't get along, but I've gotten used to it a bit more now that I am reading more.
As for your questions:
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
Oh, I don't think I have a favorite kind of tea. I like just plain tea, or those that have a bit of vanilla in them. As for cake. well currently I am craving a slice of cake with some whipped cream and strawberries, haha. Though that might have to do with pregnancy hormones. But I also really like red velvet or cheese cake. I can't choose!
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I'm not sure. Just that I'm still doing it in 10 years and that I find more so my own style in blogging.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
WHAT? Another choice. Cait, STOP. I can't choose. But if I have to say something. Two books that are out, The Rose and the Dagger and The Hidden Oracle. I'm just waiting for their hardcover prices to drop. Because I'm a cheapskate and their hardcovers are still a lot pricier than others here.
Ohhh we are TWINS on so many things!! *hi fives* I’m actually surprised with how many people I’ve met who really don’t like 3rd. CRAZINESS.😂 (I tend to rate 3rd person books higher for sure.)
1. CHEESECAKE THO. <333 I think that's my favourite so we shall twin on that too.😂
2. That is a really good solid goal too!
3. I'M SORRY FOR THE CRUELLY HARD QUESTIONS. (Just kidding, mwahhahh I'm not even sorry.) Ohhh, but TR&TD is beautiful isn't it. <3 I'm procrastinating reading it because I'm not read for everything to be over. heheeh.
Why are all these questions so hard? I feel like I”m being tested but I”m pretty sure there are too many answers to count! Okay let’s see if I can narrow it down…
1. While I”m not big on tea, I do typically drink a cup in the morning and it is always green tea. Nothing too crazy. When it comes to cake though, I LOVE IT!!!!! It could be angel food cake or nanny’s chocolate cake, or funfetti. Just give it to me!!!!
2. As far as dream blogging goals go, I think just to steadily grow as a writer and reviewer as well as connect with more and more book lovers is a good place to start.
3. Honestly this is the funniest question ever! The list would be at least a mile long but I’ll go with the Vintage Classic editions of Jane Austen in paperback. They’re just so pretty and I already have Northanger Abbey. Soon I will acquire them all!!!!
This was fun! Let’s do it again soon!
(hehe, sorry about the questions being hard😂 JUST KIDDING. I’M NOT EVEN SORRY. MWHAHAHH.)
1. Ohhhh chocolate cake is a good answer for any question. LIKE SERIOUSLY CHOCOLATE CAKE IS THE BEST.
2. That is an awesome goal. 😀 I HIGHLY APPROVE.
3. Yessss for collections. <3 😀
Congratulations Cait! I love to read your posts.
Okay, your questions:
1) I don’t drink tea or coffee! But I LOVE cake! I make it from scratch. I always think red velvet or german chocolate cake is good. Cupcakes are true goodness, though.
2) Haha- right now I’d love to be caught up! I don’t think that’s gonna happen though… Honestly, I’d love to be on the blog tour for one of Cassandra Clare’s future books or do something with Maggie Stiefvater. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! Also, I’d like to refine and publish some of my short stories.
3) Ohhhh… this is HARD! Why, Cait, why? Well… I LOVE SJ Maas’s books, but I haven’t read A Court of Mist and Fury yet!!! *cries* And I don’t own it or its predecessor, A Court of Thorns and Roses. I also don’t own Lady Midnight yet, which is inconceivable considering how much I LOVE Cassie Clare. Ugh. I need books. I’m running out of shelf space though, sooooo…
Thanks for doing this, and happy blogiversary! (I really don’t care that that’s not a word).
AHHH THANK YOU, KATHERINE!! *FLAILS HAPPILY*
1. I highly approve of your love of cake. YOU HAVE YOUR PRIORITIES IN ORDER, CLEARLY. And cupcakes are divine because it’s like little individual cakes and WHO CAN BE MAD ABOUT THAT?
2. I would like to be caught up on blogging too.😂 And omgggg WOULDN’T IT BE AMAZING TO DO INTERVIEW MAGGIE STIEFVATER OR SOMETHING?!?! *screams* SHE IS MY WRITER HERO.
3. And duuuuude, I have to ask SOME hard questions. 😉 It’s my evil overlord side coming out. OMG LADY MIDNIGHT IS EVERYTHING. <333 I think it's the best Clare book so far (which is saying a lot because I rate most of them 5stars😂)
1. I actually…am not a tea fan. This is because in my religion (I’m Mormon) we only drink herbal teas, which I’ve only drank once when I was sick. But I love cake! Cake cake cake cake cake. Umm…so much cake to choose from! I can’t decide. Pound cakes, and vanilla with dark chocolate frosting, and ice cream cake, and so much cake.
2. TO CONQUER THE UNIVERSE, OBVIOUSLY.
Weeeellllll….if that doesn’t work, then to be a “pajama blogger queen” as you say.
3. So many books. There’s The Crown Game, and Graceling (which I’ve read but want to actually OWN), Peter and the Starcatchers (same thing, except I actually own the two books in the middle so I MUST have the first one), The Women of Baker Street (which isn’t actually out yet but I loved the first one), EVERY BOOK EVER, THE END.
1. Ohhh, that makes sense. *nods* I’m not a fan of herbal teas either, tbh. BUT YAY THAT YOU LOVE CAKE TOO!! *hi fives* Anything with chocolate frosting, right?!??!?😂 CHOCOLATE ON EVERYTHING.
2. Pajama blogging queen is AN AMAZING GOAL. THAT IS MINE TOO.
3. Ahhhh The Crown’s Game is amazing. And Graceling yesssss. I need to finish that series. 0_0 I can’t even believe I haven’t yet.
I don’t really dig tea and I would give all of my cake to you, but if I had to pick something I would say peppermint tea and birthday cake ice cream. Dream blogging goals would be to have 500 followers (I don’t even have 100 right now!) I really want Heartless and Gemina! Congrats again on your blogaversary! (IDK how to spell that, but my auto correct thinks it should say loganberry)
Like ice cream cake?? Because ice cream cake is marvellous. *nods sagely* And AHHH THAT IS A GREAT BLOGGING GOAL!! Trust me, it’s very attainable!! (I honestly never though I’d get to 500 when I’d been blogging for like 2 years.😂 SO JUST STICK TO IT, YOU GOT THIS.) And dude, Gemina and Heartless…*hyperventilates*
THANKYOU!! (I have no idea how to spell blogversary.😂 There are TOO MANY WAYS. People say blogiversary, or blogoversary or….gahhhh. I DON’T KNOW.😂)
I too delay reading books I know will make me cry (or stop just before the part that will make me cry).
I love cinnamon tea but don’t really drink it enough. My mother’s trying to get me into mint tea but it still tastes like toothpaste to me. Yeurgh. I LOVE CARROT CAKE. But not the carrot cake with demurra sugar because it changes the flavour too much.
Gosh. My dream blogging goals would be to establish myself in a super cool blogging community (I mean I already do sort of, but even more so!). I want to make people think with what I write and occasionally make them laugh (if I can). And most of all…I want to talk about pizza because everyone talks about pizza in only the vaguest terms and don’t truly realise its culinary importance imo. #foodie
And I would LOVE to have A Darker Shade of Magic on my hands (but I’d probably delay reading that too, cos of feels reasons).
YOU’RE AWESOME CAIT. KEEP ON DOING YOUR OWN THING – we will be right here, creepily reading every word you send out into the internets.
O.O
Ahhh I’m glad I’m not alone in procrastinating books then. *hi fives*😂 Sometimes it’s hard to fEEL ALL THOSE THINGS. *collapses in exhaustion* And, eeek, I probably would be with you on mint tea. That DOES seem like toothpaste flavour to me too haha. OH OH I like carrot cake with chocolate chips in it. YUUUUUM. Ahem.
Those are FABULOUS goals and from what I’ve read of your glorious blog I think you are well on the way. ;D And I am all for voting on more pizza talking. Pizza is probably the reason the world spins mostly. (APART FROM CAKE.)
A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC IS ABSOLUTELY ASDFJAKLDSFSJD and I procrastinated it for like a whole year.😂
AWWWW. MAWA, YOU ARE SO SO KIND, THANK YOU. <333
Thank you for answering all of the questions!!
Tea and cake… I am a “my soul is bathed in caffeine and coffee goodness” person, but I like GOOD chai tea (strong, flavorful chai) and some strong peach / mango / etc teas that Teavana puts together. I like tea that tastes as good as it smells, and unfortunately, that does not happen often. Cake? Well…. I am vegan by choice so I like cake that I can eat, and only eat cake on occasion.
Dream blogging goals… Hm. Good question. I love being able to write and share a sliver of myself with the world, you know, without ACTUALLY having to see the world. Because writing is far, far easier than talking face to face. I would love to write and travel, and get paid for it, but at the end of the day, I’ll settle for writing and traveling.
What book do I currently NOT HAVE but desperately WANT? chuckling. Well, do you want a short list or a long list?? Any new ones by Gail Carringer, Nalini Singh, David Weber, David Drake, Patricia C. Weber………… Yeah. Plus some random other ones. 🙂
Always a pleasure to read something you’ve written, Cait!
Brittany
I’ve never had a fruity tea but YUM IT SOUNDS DIVINE. Also yessss to coffee.😂 It is so perfect. hehe. Oh, I can imagine vegan makes eating cake quite difficult. *nods*
OMG WRITING IS DEFINITELY EASIER THAN TALKING. I am 100% with you there. But wanting to travel/be paid for it is such an impressive goal, I hope you reach it!!
Aww, thank you Brittany. <3
Hi! Hello! **waves** I recently stumbled upon your gorgeous and quirky blog, and you are the most adorable little cinnamon bun! (I call everyone cinnamon buns the way you call everyone pineapples ^_^) I love all of your facts and blog posts!
If you and I were in the same room, I’d love to share a pot of classic Earl Grey tea and some yummy lemon cake!
I recently just started my own blog and one of my dream blogging goals is to continue inspiring people to love and read books more, and I love love love comments like, “Ah, your review makes me want to read this,” or “I’m starting this book today because of you. Your fault. All your fault!” **blushes**
A book that I do not have, but would like to have would have to be either Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, or The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg. I have read neither, but have had my eye on both for quite some time! 🙂
HELLO HELLO! *waves wildly and offers you pineapple cake* You are sooooo nice. Seriously this makes my day. <3 😂
Omg and I love love LOVE your blogging aspirations! They are beyond perfect...that is the besssst thing when people go and read a book you've recommended. I've had a few people say that to me. #Bestfeelingever 😂
SEIGE AND STORM IS THE BEST BARDUGO BOOK EVER. *screams* STURMHOND.
Okay, I have come to the conclusion that you are basically me in a couple years. #twinalert XD
My favorite type of tea? Are you sure you are prepared for this? My favorites are *deep breath* blueberry, pomegranite, pomegranite hazel, lemon, lemon ginger, chocolate panda (no pandas were harmed in the making of this tea), and earl grey. And those are just my top favorite. XD
My dream blogging goals? They are to be able to get paid a good amount of money and be part of a huge blogging community. Though I must admit, those are my dream goals, not realistic. I am perfectly content to blog in my little corner of the internet. Though 1 million followers and a fan base everywhere wouldn’t be awful. 😉
The book that I do not have (and haven’t read yet) but that I am DYING to read (literally, I have died) is Hatred Day. I’ve heard such good things about it, and I MUST read it, but my library doesn’t have it (tricksy library).
Thanks for posting a Get To Know Me post, because honestly, I have been dying to know more about you! You seem like such a wonderful (and hilarious) person. Though I suppose you could be an awful old hag in real life. You never know…
HELLO CYBER TWIN. *shares twin pineapple cake with you*
1. Wait wait wait is your favourite tea ALL OF THOSE MIXED TOGETHER??? BEAUSE THAT WOULD BE INTENSE.😂
2. Dude, being paid to blog would be AMAAAZING. *flails* And it is kind of possible! Because I have a freelance job blogging for a small book retailer so THESE LUCKY THINGS DO HAPPEN. *shrieks*
3. I haven’t even heard of that one! :O
Awww, you’re making me smile so much. 😂 I’M REALLY GLAD YOU ENJOYE DIT! And, dude, I probably am like a very creepy old person IRL. But at least I have nice hair, yes? *nods*
OKAY SO I ONLY HAVE A MINUTE (CURSE YOU DEAD INTERNET! REALLY?? CAIT IS HAVING HER HALF DECADE BLOGOVERSARY AND YOU HAVE TO GO OUT NOW OF ALL TIMES? IS NOTHING SACRED???) BUT I HAFTA SAY AAAAAHHH THE HAPPIEST OF BLOGOVERSARIES TO YOU YOU GLORIOUS CAKE BEAN CAIT!!!!!!! I AM CELEBRATING AND FLAILING HAPPILY! SORRY FOR SCATTEREDNESS MUST RUN BUT CONGRATS AGAIN ON FIVE YEARS YOU AWESOME DRAGON PINEAPPLE OVERLORD YOU! ^_^ YOU DESERVE ALL THE CAKE OF EVER! <3
DEBORAH YOU PRECIOUS THING. <333 *shares pineapple cake with you* And omg dude, I don't even know how I wrote 19 books in 6 years. Let's go with obsession😂 And not talk about how many of those I've actually edited. HHAHAHAH. Ahem.
Also chocolate cake = YOU MAKE GOOD LIFE DECISIONS, MY FRIEND.
ZOMGGGGGG. I would really really appreciate your thoughts/critiques on Dead Boy! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING. *CRIES HAPPY TEARS* <33333
Hi!!!!!
Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself! Your posts are always very encouraging and kind, and I love the personality you put into them. Also, I feel like I probably should have caught the Psych reference. After all, I’m a psych fan too! XD
I feel like I say this every time you mention anxiety (I probably /do/ say it every time) but I am grateful that you share this struggle here because anxiety is also a problem for me and has been for a very, very long time. It gets discouraging, of course, and so I sometimes need someone like you to go before me and show that it is possible to do great things in spite of anxiety. Thank you.
As to the answers to your questions, I don’t drink tea but my favorite cake is lemon ice cream cake. My current blogging goal is simply to post on my blog more than once a month and to keep up with those blogs I currently follow. As for what book I would like to have that I do not currently have, I would like to read The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater simply because I have heard so many good things about it (not only from you).
Thanks and keep writing!
AWWWW. THIS MAKES MY DAY. *flails happily* And hello fellow Psych fan!! It’s like a partial reference so I totally get that no one really knows where it’s from😂 I’m probably stealing there. ahhaha. #oops😂
Omg I’m really glad that being open about anxiety is encouraging for you. <3 I used to say nothing because I was a bit embarrassed but now...egh, why? It's part of me, and I feel comfortable writing over talking, so I might as well talk about it. *nods* And YES. There are so many possibilities out there for us, even if we do have really severe anxiety. *sends you internet hugs* YOU GOT THIS, KARISSA, I BELIEVE IN YOU.
I so love getting to know more about you! I really love your blog. I love how genuine and fun you are. =D
Also your forgetting characters’ names is making me feel better because I sometimes I have TROUBLE REMEMBERING BOOK PLOTS AND WHO PEOPLE ARE. Like a friend will be like “like that character in that book you read a month ago when he/she did that thing” and I’m like “huh?!?! . . . OH RIGHT I KIND OF HAVE A VAGUE MEMORY OF THAT.”
Questions! Let’s see:
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? Tea would be Celestial Seasoning’s Tension Tamer. IT’S SOOTHING AND SO UNIQUE. It was has a picture of a dragon on the box but that’s irrelevant. (just kidding. it’s Very Relevant.) Cake. Mmmmmmm cake. *wonders because TOO MANY CHOICES* Tiramisu is good. Chocolate stuff is good. Fancy European stuff is da best.
What are some of your dream blogging goals? Hm, idk. I guess come out with interesting content? I feel rather shy sometimes because I’m just a girl and what of worth can I say that others have never said before and I really need to step out of that and blog about interesting things regardless if I feel unqualified to do it. We all gotta start somewhere.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? AALLLLLLLLLLL THE BOOKS. But specifically I really want to get Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. So yeah.
AHH THANK YOU VICTORIA!! *flings confetti* You’re so super nice. <3 And omg I have such memory problems all the time.😂 Most of the time I don't even remember what the last book I read was. AGH. It's kind of embarrassing honestly. 😛
1. EVERYTHING CHOCOLATE IS AMAZING I AGREE.
2. Interesting content is an amazing goal!! And it doesn't matter if everyone's said it before, it's your opinions we're keen on, right?! ;D
3. All the books = the best answer ever.😂
Hi, Cait, it was lovely to read more about you! I knew some of the things already but I adore personal posts, they’re always interesting.
As for my answers:
1) I have recently stopped drinking coffee altogether because I’m pregnant again and my taste has gone all wonky. So I’m now a tea person! My favourite is masala chai which has a ton of spices in it. Also, I now prefer cheesecake to chocolate cake, which is something I never thought would happen. I might go back to chocolate once the baby comes, who knows.
2) Dream blogging goals… Hmmm… Writing a rave review of a favourite new book and having the author see it and respond to it? That’s something to look forward to. Also having enough time to blog properly, respond to comments and comment on other blogs. But you know, life.
3) I… would love to have A Conjuring of Light, The Thorn of Emberlain or The Doors of Stone – none of these are published yet. But if we’re talking already published books, The Exiled Queen, Son of the Shadows and The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender are high on my list of to-buy books.
Happy blog anniversary and have a very nice day! 🙂
Yayyy, thank you, Kaja!! I know I have repeated myself a bit.😂 But I can’t ever remember what I’ve said so I figure, eh well, it’ll be good for anyone new. Haha. AHEM. BUT THANK YOU YOU’RE SO NICE. <3
1. Masala chai is divine. I HIGHLY aPPROVE OF CHEESECAKE TOO. And any baby that is demanding cheesecake has clearly got excellent taste already *nods*
2. AHH THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!! (And yes, I do totally get life getting in the way.😂 It's a problem.)
3. OMG A CONJURING OF LIGHT. *breaks down sobbing* I'm 100% sure that book is going to be murder me but I want it badly.
This was such a fun post, Cait! It was great getting to know you a little better! 🙂 And now my answers:
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
My favourite tea is quite boring, I think. I drink decaf tea because I suffer with mirgraines, but because I’m so fussy, I can only drink British supermarket Tesco’s ownbrand. As for cake, sugar ring doughnuts! That’s the only cake I can eat.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure if I have any. I enjoy the blogging I’m doing now. Woul I like more readers? Sure, but that requires putting in more time than I have available, especially as I’ve discovered a number of things over the past year that I also enjoy, like writing for my writing/lifestyle blog Jo’s Scribbles and online magazines, writing to my various penpals and being creative with envelopes, and a little bit of cross-stitching. Also watching TV, because I need Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, Doctor Who & The Big Bang Theory. Plus I have to work AND read to be able to book blog about something. So I’m not spending as much time as I used to on blogging, and I might lose readers because of it, but I’m enjoying how I’m spending my time right now. So, really, my goal is to keep enjoying blogging the way I do, and not feel pressured to read/post more. My life is my own, and I don’t want book blogging to rule it, so I’m happy 🙂
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Heartless by Marissa Meyer. This is the first book that came to mind. More retellings, please! I loved The Lunar Chronicles so much, I just have to have Heartless. Now. I need it!
AHH THANK YOU JO. <3
1. That's not boring!!😂 I actually only ever drink decaf coffee, hehe, and omg it must be YEARS since I had a doughnut!!
2. And I totally understand *nods* It's hard when one wants to do more but has no time right?? OH. And your lifestyle blog sounds really nice too! (Also I used to cross-stitch. It's awesome. xD) And I think just enjoying blogging and not feeling pressured IS actually a massively good goal, so go you. ;D
3. AHHHH THAT BOOK I NEED SO MUCH TOO!!!
1. An Arnold Palmer – half iced tea, half lemonade – that counts right? 🙂
2. Same as yours
3. I would love to own a copy of Half Lost by Sally Green
1. tOTALLY. That sounds delicious too, by the way.😂
2. YAYYY!!! *hi fives*
3. Omg excellent choice. THAT BOOK IS EVERYTHING. <3
1) I am fond of blueberry tea. Other fruit teas are nice too, but blueberry is my favorite. I like ice cream cake, cheese cake, and pretty much all the other types of cake as long as they aren’t dry or too sweet.
2) I hope I will be able to help other writers w/my blog, change the way they write their books(for the better). I also would like to create a writer community with it. It would also be super amazing if I could make as good as yours, but that’s probably just wishful thinking. #PracticallyImpossibleTask
3) I would really like to own all the Wings of Fire books because #1: the covers are AMAZING, #2: the stories are AMAZING, #3: dragons! and #4: they look really nice lined up in a row.
Also I don’t like reading ebooks so in case this post gets picked, choose someone else instead.
1. Blueberry tea sounds delicious. :’) ALSO YAY CHEESECAKE.
2. Ohhh creating a writer community sounds AMAZING. Omg but of course not wishful thinking!😂😂 I’ve just been at this for a while ahah. GOOD LUCK TO YOU, YOU GOT THIS I KNOW IT!!
3. OHhh I haven’t heard of that one!!
CAIT! I’M SORRY I HAVEN’T BEEN ACTIVE IN LIKE FOREVER. I AM STILL ALIVE. I PROMISE (and I’ve been furiously writing so, you know, look forward to that).
Happy Blogversary! FIVE YEARS IS A LONG TIME.
And I already knew a lot of these things ha ha. I guess it comes with the territory of being your NUMBER ONE FAN.
Ahem.
Anyway, on to the questions.
1. I HATE TEA. AND COFFEE. Give me either hot chocolate or just plain milk. Or chocolate milk.
HOW THE HECK DO YOU EXPECT ME TO JUST CHOOSE ONE TYPE OF CAKE. I LOVE THEM ALL. Vanilla, I guess? Or lemon? I love chocolate, but it’s not my FAVORITE. Ummm, cheesecake, I guess? BUT NO WAIT COOKIE CAKE. AHHH YOU ARE EVIL.
2. I don’t really have any blogging goals at the moment? Sorry ha ha. I have writing goals and film making goals and general Summer Vacation goals, but they don’t really include any blogging goals. Oh well.
3. I REALLY WANT TO GET MY HANDS ON A COPY OF CARRY ON I STILL HAVEN’T READ IT OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY.
Well then. I hope that was informative.
Excellent post as always, Em
HELLO!! I’M GLAD YOU’RE STILL ALIVE! *gives you extra cake* And omg, you are so nice.😂
1. hot chocolate is wonderfulness though so I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. Plus the cake questions was just reminding everyone THAT I AM AN EVIL OVERLORD, TBH. BECAUSE OF COURSE. Cheesecake is the best answer tho. #cheesecakeiseverything
2. AH WELL😂 Those are still cool goals!!
3. OMG OMG DO. YOU MUST. IT’S GORGEOUS.
LOVE this topic and discussion! LOVED learning more about you oh RULER CAIT!
Ok so I am a HUGE tea lover, sooo I came here for the tea AND CAKE. My favorite tea is English Breakfast in the morning, need the strong caffeine to get me going. But my actual all-time favorite is Matcha Green Tea – it’s pricey though so it’s really a treat! Favorite cake? CHEESECAKE HANDS DOWN. Favorite Cheesecake? Key-Lime *drools for days*
Blogging goals are to keep building my blog, have more discussions, more reviews and general be more active – curse my job (that I love) for taking my precious time! I’d love to have more people participating in my memes’ but that’s an on and off thing, sometimes they’re busier than others.
I NEED GEMINA IN MY LIFE! I just contacted my Canadian Publisher friends BEGGING for it but have not heard back and I am scared! I’m also planning on ordering a copy of The Dream Thieves (AUTOGRAPHED) since my copy got damaged when I brought it to BEA last year to get it signed…and forgot it at the hotel. *grumbles*
Now that I’m filled up on Matcha Tea and Key Lime CheeseCake and all caught up, I want to say CONGRATS again on the 5 year anniversary and MANY happy returns XXXXX
AHH THANK YOU. *twirls majestically*
And of COURSE you came for the cake. I AM LIKE THE CAKE QUEEN HERE. Ahem. And also the fact that you answered cheesecake proves you know what’s up because THAT IS THE BEST CAKE OF EVER.
Ahhh I love your goals!! (And I hear ya with the memes. It’s sometimes hard to predict which ones will be big or not, right?!?)
GEMINA AHHHHH. I hope you get a copy!!!! I had to wait until release for Illuminae because the publishers here ran out of ARCs. *cries* I’m not even sure they’ll be doing ARCS for Gemina, bUT I CAN HOPE RIGHT????? (Also dude, TDT autographed?! *dies* <3)
THANKYOU SO MUCH YOU WONDERFUL BEAN. <33
Congrats Cait!!!
This is the coolest Q&A I’ve ever soon. One happy pineapple here 😀
My favorite tea is Lipton’s Mint & Orange. As for cake, pretty much any kind especially those with lots and loots of chocolate 😀 My dream blogging goals: to be an amazing blogger like you!! And getting some Benjamins would be nice I have to admit. I need more books and bookshelves haha.
I would really like to finally read a Patrick Ness book 😀
Happy reading!
AHH THANK YOU, STEFANI!! *flails happily* And I highly approve of your chocolate cake choice. THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS CHOCOLATE, TBH. *craves chocolate* And aww.😂 I’m blushing, hehe. *whispers* I need so many more bookshelves too. AGH. I was only planning today what I was going to do with all the books I’ve recently acquired. IT’S BECOMING A TRAGEDY. Patrick Ness = PeRFECTION.
“The dragons bake” <<<<GIRL THIS MADE MY DAY. along with the rest of this post.
ok, so fav tea and cake….
i'm with you when you say coffee over tea. (although the local coffee shop has this really amazing mango green tea that is WOW)
cake…um…ice cream cake. (i love ice cream)
blogging goals: i would love to be able to post consistently. like, i post semi-consistently but there's no rhythm to it. i need to work on that.
book…..um. ALL OF THEM, (but if i have to pick one…..Reboot looks AMAZING.)
your blog WORKS girl. i love it!
AHHHH I’M SO HAPPY. *instructs the dragons to bake you cake*
Omg I love mango so that sounds amazing. 😀 And ice cream cake is an excellent answer because it combines like two of the world’s BEST INVENTIONS. Also posting consistently is a good goal *nods* ALTHOUGH HARD!! So good luck!! (And omg Reboot is a book everyone needs to read. Immediately basically)
THANK YOU. <3333
I LOVE THIS FAQ THAT NOBODY EVER ASKED FOR. I feel like I should do that more often. There are lots of awesome questions I would ask myself. And I have to practice for my Oprah interviews when I’m a famous author. #obviously
All blogaversaries should have tea and cake, just saying.
(and since you asked, I’m a big fan of Thai tea)
Honestly we should ALL do FAQs quite frequently, asked or not. *nods* I mean, who’s going to ask the best questions?? WE OF COURSE. And it’d good practise for being utterly famous, which will happen tomorrow probably. *nods*
YES all blogversaries should have tea and cake, and presents. ALL CHOCOLATE.
Happy Blogaversary!! I loved reading all these facts about you. I REALLY want to see Australia one day. It’s on my bucket list! And I love that you got the pineapple reference from Psych. When that show was on the air, I was kind of obsessed with it. I loved it so, so much.
Okay, here are the 3 questions:
1. I am not much of a tea person either. I do like the pumpkin spice tea when it’s in season, but I mainly like pretentious decaf lattes from Starbucks. I also love cake and my favorite is ANYTHING CHOCOLATE.
2. One of my main dream blogging goals is to take over the blogging world, obviously. Ha. I guess just get more followers. That makes me sound so shallow, but yeah, I want more people to love me!
3. One book I really want, but don’t have is Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson.
I devoured most of Psych last year! Or…the year before? OMG I CAN’T EVEN REMEMBER😂 But it is so so brilliant!! Eeep.
1. Anything chocolate is the BEST ANSWER.
2. It’s not shallow to want to grow your audience! I WANT TO GROW MINE *nods* I think it shows we care and want people to hear our fabulous words *flips hair majestically*😂
3. AHHHH I’M SO EXCITED FOR THAT ONE TOO!
LOVED THE POST!!! …… ahem ….. sorry hyper over here 😀
So let’s see my answers to the your 3 questions … hmmm………….. OH I know! 😀
1. My Favourite kind of tea is Lemon with lots and lots of sugar :3 and I have found a new love in cheese cake *drools* oh mama, cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesecake.
2. Moving on …. my dreams for blogging. Honestly I have no idea how to answer this, since blogging is a hobby of mine along with Pokemon Shiny Hunting (and DON’T you laugh at me! :p LOL ). I guess if I had to answer it, it would probably be that I would like to keep a sort of diary of all the books I’ll read/have read in my life and when I’m old and grey look back on it and see all the wonderful worlds I’ve visited. But also to meet more people. I’m a seriously shy person, even on the internet. I have this thing of being scared to comment on any blog. I just freeze up because I’m like : “I have no idea what to say.” and then I angst over not being able to find anything to say. But I’m getting better. Bee is helping me with that 😛 ..
3. I currently do not have Truthwitch by Susan Dennard …… but I soooooooooo want it!
AHHHHH NEVER BE SORRY FOR HYPER. YOU’RE AMONGST GOOD COMPANY. *hyper hi five*
1. Omg cheesecake though. CHEESECAKE IS LIKE THE GLORIOUS LORD OF ALL THE CAKES.
2. Keeping a diary of books you’ve read is an AWESOME IDEA. I’ve actually wanted to do that too, but then I consider how lazy I am and don’t.😂 And I totally get the being-shy-thing. I TOTALLY DO. I feel somewhat safe on the internet because I can take time to formulate my replies and no one can see me. hehee. In real life is a completely different matter. *runs away from people*
3. ahhhh. That was an interesting one.😂
Happy five years to you, Cait! That’s awesome! And holy crap, 19 books? o.o Wow. Good job!
My favorite kind of tea: fruity flavor, like cherry or blueberry.
My favorite kind of cake: Chocolate. Mmmmmmmm.. *salivates*
Dream blogging goals? Umm. Well, to sound shallow, of course I’d like a bigger audience. But I’m also content with what I’ve got, so it’s a mix. But otherwise I think it would be to just continually have fun doing it. Maybe even do some collabs and guest posts (on my blog and on other people’s). I think that would be fun!
I need An Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas in my life yesterday. Seriously. Annnnnd Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. Annnnd The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson. Annnnd A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. All four are coming out later this year, but man, I want/need them now.
BAHAH THANKYOU!! *shares celebratory cake with you*
I’ve never had fruity tea but it sounds like it’d be so delicious. And of COURSE chocolate is the answer to everything. ;D And omg it’s definitely not shallow to want a bigger audience! Who really wants to talk into the void, right??? We have interesting things to say and we want people to hear them. NO SHAME IN THAT. *nods*
Omg I need Strange the Dreamer BADLY TOO.
Happy Blogiversary Cate! Congrats on 5 years!
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
Favorite tea is Black Pearl (made by Lipton). I don’t really drink tea much, and usually make sweet iced tea if I drink it at all. But that one is yummy, and makes me think of the Pirates of the Caribbean! My favorite cake is anything chocolate (as long as it’s coconut free as I am allergic…) followed by red velvet.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
Procrastinate less. Especially with the writing and scheduling of reviews. *nods* I used to have 4 weeks done in advance, I’m currently down to 2 weeks because I keep thinking of other things I’d rather do instead of write. Like read. *laughs*
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
All of them. *nods* Seriously, my list is like a mile long. The newest ones I’ve added are: The False Princess, Foxheart, and Stealing Snow.
THANKYOU!! *flails happily*
Omg Pirates of the Caribbean tea sounds AMAZING. 😂 And I’m not a big fan of coconut either, tbh (although not allergic) but CHOCOLATE IS THE ANSWER TO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.
Also those are good goals. hahaha. 😂 But omg if you have ANYTHING done in advance I’m very impressed! I never do. *hides* I’m usually panicking to get my post up at the last minute. he. OMG I’M SO EXCITED FOR STEALING SNOW TOOO!!!
Well, I had suspected that I love you, but now that I know you like Psych, I’m sure I love you.
Instead of your questions for me (which my answers would be boring) here’s some chatty chat about your post.
1. Yes to reading in 3rd person.
2. Psych is my favorite show of all time.
3. I must have utter silence to read.
4. It took me a long time to find info on what books you’ve written. Yes, I did find it right up there in the menu under “ABOUT”. Yes, that’s a logical place to put it. No, I don’t know why it took me so long to find them.
5. I’m publishing a book this month and I’m excited/freaked. I adore the cover, though, which is all that really counts. It’s called A Threat of Shadows and it has a dragon, stabbing sort of things, witty banter and EVEN A COUPLE EXPLOSIONS. Frankly after reading your list of things books should have, I feel better about mine. (You can see the beeeeeeautiful cover here: http://www.jaandrews.com/a-threat-of-shadows-•-ch-1/
6. your blog is a lot of fun and I”m so glad I found it!
BAHAHHAHA. *PSYCH LOVING HI FIVE* WE ARE AWESOME CLEARLY. And I love your chatty answers!! It’s really great to know more about you too. :’)
I watched most of Psych last year and GAH I was so sad when it ended!! I could’ve watched a gazillion seasons!! (And omg do you think my tabs are a bit hidden? Eeek. I should maybe try to make it more visible?)
AHHHH CONGRATS ON YOUR UPCOMING BOOK!! You have me endlessly intrigued at the word dragons. 😀
HI CAIT! I love tea. It may be because I hate coffee and refuse to drink it, but I love love love tea. I really like peppermint tea near christmas and then I will put a candy cane in it, but really I don’t discriminate. All tea is great! My blogging goal (/life goal) is consistency. I just took a hiatus that was much longer than I had wanted it to be because I was just overall burnt out on blogging and life and school, but now it’s SUMMER and I am so excited to be back in the blogging world and reading and GAH!
Yayy for tea then!! I’m opposite, because I’d choose coffee over tea.😂 But OMG I MISSED YOU WHILE YOU WERE GONE!! *gives you welcoming back cake* I hope you have lots of epic and relaxing things planned for this summer. 😉
Great to learn more about you, Cait. ^ ^ My favorite teas are any teas with rose in them. I love the flavor of rose. XD And my favorite cake is cheese cake! Dream blogging goals …. I’d like to get a goodly amount of followers eventually. I’m working on reaching 100 on GFC. XD And I really need to get the first book of the Raven Cycle. XD
Ahhh you are a big tea drinker right?! I always enjoy your tea posts!😂 AND YES HECK YES YOU NEED TO READ THE RAVEN CYCLE!!!!!
Ok, this post made my night. That’s weird, sort of, because it’s about you. But girl, you’re hilarious and there is so much TO RELATE TO in this. My god xD
My answers to your questions:
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? Can I say coffee instead? & chocolate. All the chocolate. I don’t want sprinkles, they ruin the chocolate. Did I mention I JUST WANT CHOCOLATE.
What are some of your dream blogging goals? This is cheesy, but my only goal for my blog is to make as many friends with similar interests as I can. I just want to talk books movies tv ALL the things with people. If that means 10 people read my blog or 200 or 1000, I’m happy.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? Is this question for real? That’s like asking me what my favorite book is. I WANT ALL THE BOOKS. ALLLLLLL OF THEM. 😀
Ah, just popped over from coming back from a hiatus and glad to see that it’s your 5th blogiversary, congrats! Mine is actually in a month and I’m super excited. I can’t believe you wrote 19 books in 6 years! I can’t wait for the day one (or all!) of them gets published and see your name at the top of the bestseller’s list ;). I don’t like showing my face often either, so don’t worry about it.
For your questions, my favorite cake is ice cream cake! One day I want to self-host, hopefully very soon. A book I want to read but don’t have is ‘eighteen years’ by Madisen Kuhn, who is an 20 y/o poet!
Haha I feel like the wildlife aspect of Australia is one of the biggest concerns for a lot of people wanting to visit?? Or maybe that’s just me (I must admit I have been fearing the idea of snakes and spiders quite a bit when thinking of Australia–but I’m glad to hear that’s not the case! XD Though from what you describe (getting clawed by a bird, ouch!) I suppose getting bird poo on my arm while going for a run is hardly something to complain about… LOL. Yay for people who won’t get crushed first if the sky falls! Love that, by the way. Last time I checked I was around 5″2? So yeah. *high-fives*
Ahem, so for the questions…
1. I adore pretty much any type of cake???!! Like just give me cake and I will be happy. HOW CAN YOU ASK ME TO CHOOSE CAIT. XD
2. Oooh, that’s a hard one. Definitely to be a more active blogger–I used to be but I’ve fallen into a blogging slump-type routine and I definitely want to become more of a consistent blogger. I love to blog, and I hate being in this frozen position! Also I must say I totally look up to you as #blogginggoals. 🙂 You are so amazing! *gives you a hug and cake*
3. Erm, can I say literally all the books?!! The list is too long.
LOLL looking at this I realize I hardly answered the questions properly. Oops.
Anyway, happy blogiversary once again! This comment is so long omg.
Ah, this post was so much fun! I’m really glad you shared some fun facts about yourself. Now, here are my answers to your questions –
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? I love chai tea and Lady Grey tea, and I love chocolate cake.
What are some of your dream blogging goals? I would like to integrate more lifestyle posts into my blog, and maybe hit 2,500 followers one day 🙂
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? CROOKED KINGDOM PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
I’m totally late to the game here, but I just have to say – You have a face!! Like, I can almost see it! Is it sad that the fact that I can almost see your face in this photo makes me really weirdly happy. Yeah, that’s probably weird … let’s move on to other topics … like cake. I can’t pick a favorite type of cake. I love ALL cake. And I especially love homemade frosting.
IT’S YOUR FIFTH BLOGOVERSARY OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD OH MY GOD I AM SO PROUD OF YOU CAIT, FOR WHATEVER THAT IS WORTH EVEN THOUGHT IT IS NOT WORTH MUCH. I AM SUPER SUPER PROUD OF YOU. Blogging is really hard, and it’s definitely a commitment. I just took a two-month look hiatus because I was having trouble getting IN the mood to blog so I’m so so so so proud of you and I’m shocked, because blogging for five years long is an entirely amazing commitment. I really admire you, Cait, and you are definitely like a perfect blogger. I ASPIRE to be like you. I so hope your sixth year of blogging is even better, and I hope you never stop, because I love your blog. I love reading your posts, and I read every single one. I’ve even stayed up till 1 o clock in the morning reading your posts XD because you capture my attention. You are so accomplished and I hope you are so proud of yourself. You are an amazing person and blogger, Cait, and I am so glad to have met you, and I only hope that your blogging journey gets even better.
Ah, and I remember that now I have to answer your questions 😀 ha.
Your favourite kind of tea and cake? OHMYGOSH CHAI TEA AND PECAN PRALINE AND CINNAMON CAKE. YUM. I ALSO LIKE LEMON CAKE. AND MARBLE MARBLE MARBLE. And trust me, I devoured chocolate cake before Dauntless and Celaena ever did 🙂 ;P .
What are some of your dream blogging goals? Right now, I don’t have many goals except for keeping my blog going. I really want to stay committed, as so far I’ve only blogged for 9 months and so I want to be able to stay committed and I want to see how I will develop and change. And someday, I’d like to be a blogger like you. Friendly, and very popular, and very awesome.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE? EMPIRE OF STORMS AND LORD OF SHADOWS. But they’re not out yet, so ha. Um, I want Heartless. A LOT. But I don’t know how it is, so I’d like to read it. 🙂
Chai TOTALLY counts for a tea party. I recently got one that’s delicious called “Don QuixoTEA: Man of La ManCHAI.” It was from a book package I got for my birthday. And I may have giggled for a few seconds longer than normal people would at the puns.
Names are my FAVORITE THING when reading or writing, but if I can’t pronounce a name, expect a “heck if I know” when asking about a character in a book, EVEN IF I CAN SPELL IT.
I think you’re the first person I’ve heard of who organizes their books by color, and now it seems so obvious that everyone should be doing it. So which color do you think contains the majority of your favorite books?
Since you’re a fan of audiobooks but I’ve had terrible luck with them (other than the Jim Dale recordings of Harry Potter and your AWESOME suggestion of Code Name Verity), do you have any that you would recommend?
There’s a great shop in Lititz, PA called Café Chocolat that has different herbal teas, so anything from them is guaranteed to be really good. I also love my peach green tea in the morning. And cake is obviously German chocolate. 😉
Having the time to post more regularly! And also getting more comments on posts, because talking to people is my favorite part of the internet!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! I know it’s not out yet, but stiiilll. xD
YES!!! I am glad I am not the only one who can be outgoing online, but cripplingly shy in real life. I hate photos of myself. And briefly trying to to Booktube almost killed me. Having my photo on my blog is actually painful for me haha, but I did it as I felt I should and have regretted it every day since!
I hate comments by people telling me how I should feel or why I am wrong for my opinion on a book. NO! I am not wrong, my opinion is just different from your opinion. Don’t argue, discuss. This is why you’re my favourite fellow bookworm. We have so many books we both love, but probably just as many where one of us loved it and the other didn’t. And we can actually discuss them together. Like ‘Hey, sad you didn’t love this, it was one of my favs blah blah blah.’ And I love that. Discussing books is the greatest thing! Arguing about them is the most pointlessly stupid thing. I actually have a discussion post on this that is halfway done and I need to finish and publish. So wooo.
I don’t drink tea either. And I’m from England… so people who aren’t from the UK seem to always assume that I love it. I will drink it, but I NEVER make it for myself. I am a hot chocolate person. And I love chocolate cake. But, there is this homemade Victoria spongecake at my work that is actually to die for. I could eat that everyday and never get sick of it.
My dream blogging goal – Get better at actually blogging. Stick to posting 2-3 times a week. Post more discussions, don’t be scared of them. I have about 50 topic ideas written down but get scared to post because I feel others have probably discussed them before and I don’t want anyone to think I am copying their idea or post. And reach 4k Bloglovin’ followers, as I am at 3.8K and that would be awesome.
BTW HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY!!! Can’t believe I missed the celebrations and your awesome giveaways. This is what happens when you get so absent. Congrats on all your accomplishments, you are my favourite blogger and book blog of ever! 🙂 So thanks for being you.
Everytime I read one of your post I get the insane desire to devour cake. There was cake a my school’s last dance and I only ate one piece. Let’s say this one regrets that decision now…
Oh okay, confession time…. I literally stalk your blog. Can’t blame me, though, this place is perfect! But this is the first time I am commenting. I don’t know why, please don’t ask. 😛
Coming to your questions for me:
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I am a chai person too. Living in India and stuff so chai is obviously my go-to drink. But other than that, I love me some strong black coffee as well.
What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I think they are the same as everybodys? To grow my blog, meet new people, leverage my blog for a book I am writing (since years mind you, so leveraging may take some time :p)
But apart from that, I work in the digital marketing industry which is why my blog is so important. It gives me the kind of exposure that non-bloggers won’t have. The knowledge of how to make a blog grow and how to use social media to do so will help me a LOT in my career.
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
Oh my god this will be a long list. I have read these, but I don’t have them. The reason being, I buy physical copies of books that I really really REALLY love. So here goes:
The Hunger Games Trilogy
The Winner’s Curse Trilogy
The Selection Series (Just the first three books really)
Eleanor and Park
Fangirl
The Divergent Series (though I am debating if the last book is worth a buy)
That’s 13 books, that I do not have the money to buy as of yet.
I just bought A court of Rose and Thorns and A Court of Mist and Fury so I am satiated for two months (kinda) for my book buying spree.
As far as the blog post is concerned: CONGRATULATIONS on your 5th blogging anniversary. I love your post. I am glad I know you more now. <3
HELLO! Dust jacket off, eh? Interesting, interesting ~nods sagely~
My fave tea is English Breakfast, that is to say, a cuppa builders’ char. You can take your earl gray nonsense and your chai malarkey (apologies) and you lap sang sou whatnot and– well, I’m not sure where that threat was progressing but yeah, I’M A BRITISH WOMAN AND I LIKE MY BUILDERS’ TEA. I have a cup right now. Fuel of my life. As for cake, tho, I’ve tried to answer that on here before (because you always ask it. Gee) and IT’S REALLY TOUGH because there’s always a part of my brain like CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE but I don’t think I’ve ever ordered choc fudge cake and not been disappointed?? So if we’re doing real talk, it’s carrot. But I dislike that question.
Right now 200 followers (or 150 … or 120 … or 115) would be sweet. I had 113 the other week and then in a few days it dropped to 110?? And I was like GUYS WHAT DID I DO. Follower count dropping is well upsetting, you know?
The Wrath and the Dawn. Shadow and Bone. Splintered. A Darker Shade of Magic. (Yes, those are all series I’ve still not started … oops!) Also Sinner?! Gonna buy that tomorrow with book tokens I won from school, and then HELLO COMPLETE MAGGIE COLLECTION! 😀 😀 😀
Love your shelfie by the by. Also I’m 5″3. When the sky falls the tall people can Atlas it up for us and we can walk around at our ease, clinking our teacups. Though there will suddenly be far more women than men, which’ll make finding a boyfriend even harder than it is currently (if that were possible). Uh-oh. #apocalypseproblems am I right?? Anyway, I’m going to end this comment on a slightly less facetious note to say HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY AND LOTS OF LOVE! <3
I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE… to consume copious amounts of cake, Cait-wisdom, and dragonishness now and in the near and far future. Because, let’s face it, bookish bloggers SHALL inherit the earth (who is better equipped for survival of the imminent apocalypse? WHO, I ASK YOU?!).
Also, I shall choose to attribute knowing most of the things on this list to my long standing in the PaperFury ranks and not to stalking. Because I don’t stalk. I APPRECIATE.
1. Your favourite kind of tea and cake?
I’m a CONSUMMATE coffee-drinker. I mean, my friends call me Starbucks. And while, yes, Starbucks DOES have tea… nobody goes into Starbucks to get tea. I hope. (The most ironic thing about the whole thing is that there IS no Starbucks where I live – not for about 500 miles in either direction.) But basically… coffee. I do, however, LOVE herbal teas. I especially love making a giant batch of mint tea in the summer and then chilling it. HOMEMADE ICE TEA.
As for cake, I used to be suuuuuch a fruitcake fan, but all of the sudden… CHOCOLATE. Double chocolate. Triple chocolate with extra chocolate on top. I’m so healthy.
2. What are some of your dream blogging goals?
I’m not sure I can phrase this properly, but my biggest goal is to be SURPRISED. To never, ever fall into a rut. And especially to find myself appreciative of where blogging takes me over and over again. A high school in the US uses one of our Top 10 lists for their required reading this year. I actually, literally cried when the teacher emailed us to let us know. An author I emailed about an ARC told me to work on publishing a book of my own, because she liked the way I phrased… something? I want moments like those. I just want to be surprised, and I want to LEARN rather than STUDY – which blogging so effortlessly provides. (I mean, we ANALYZE each book after we’ve read them and extract messages and themes and examine how they tackle issues of significance. We’re learning so much, and it feels like the best time.)
3. What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?
VICIOUS. It’s been driving me crazy, because it’s SUCH A LONG-STANDING FAVORITE OF MY ANTI-HERO LOVING EXISTENCE, and yet every online store in existence has chosen to price it at $1,000 with $3,000 more for delivery. I AM TEMPTED TO SIC VICTOR VALE ON THEM, FRANKLY. 3:)
*leaves cake on my way out*
Sometimes I read your blog posts in all the wrong order. And that’s why I’m reading this one now. #Confessions
Anyway, I loved this post so much. It made me smile the whole time. 🙂
Some of my favorite quotes (just because):
“But as my blog grows, I feel like I talk to you all LESS because I want to talk to you ALL. Which is a sad side-effect of being fabulous, I suppose. #tragedy”
“When I look at a camera I feel my soul slowly being eaten away by the cavity of doom that is the lens. I forget joy and happiness and remember only dark doom. NO THIS IS NOT HYPERBOLIC. IT’S HOW I FEEL.”
“The army rises. The dragons bake. ”
xD
Okay, on to answering the questions…
1) Red zinger / ICE CREAM CAKE 😀
2) I want to expand my blog at some point to include online courses. (Although, shhh, this is kind of a secret plan right now. ;D) I want it to be a super helpful resource for writers overall, while still being very personal and authentic. Also, just being honest, I really want to make money off it, haha! Either directly or indirectly. Because self-employment = awesome. 😉
3) A TIME TO DIE by Nadine Brandes. Although I have it reserved at the library and it will be in my hands very very soon. :O :O I cannot wait for it!
Cait if your autobiopgraphy won’t be titled ‘The Pied Caker’ I will be disappointed. It’s a great title. Who wouldn’t want to read that?! Those birds you mention look so cute and innocent yet they sound vicious omg. One one hand I love that, but on the other I really don’t want to run into them haha. Good to know beforehand that they’re not as cute as they look though. Otherwise I’d might try to pet them if I ever run into them
Your favourite kind of tea and cake?: green tea and this Greek herbal tea that my mom and I found at a food market. I have no idea what the name is and I’m too lazy to look it up haha
What are some of your dream blogging goals?: having plenty of free time to blog a lot (which I should have this summer – yay!)
What book do you currently NOT HAVE but you REALLY WANT TO HAVE?: ALL OF THEM. LIKE SERIOUSLY. I NEED THEM ALL
CAIT I want your bookshelf. *whimpers at the sight of all the pretty books* I you wake up one morning, and all your preciouses are gone, well, what can I say?
No no no BAD keyboard!!! *IF not I. Whoops just blame it on the faires pulling the levers in my mind.
WELL I’LL KNOW WHO TO COME AFTER IF I WAKE UP AND ALL MY BOOKS ARE GONE. BE YE WARNED I HAVE DRAGONS.🐉🐉🐉😜
You think you have the monoploy on dragons, peasant??! Just you wait…muwahahah 😉
Peasant????? EXCUSE YOU. LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO MY GINORMOUS ARMY.
Army…ergh, that does present a problem. Well, hmmm, I can always just throw books at you. WAIT WHAt No no no never mind…I will throw hedgehogs and rabbits at you! *attempts to laugh evilly and ends up giggling*
