Books and food are the ultimate combination. DO NOT DENY THIS! And there is nothing that bakes a book closer to my soul than a drool-worthy food description. Of course, these books are also torturous. Especially if you’re reading while hungry. BUT IT’S WORTH IT, RIGHT?!?
I swear I’m not a food blog! I know you find that hard to believe. Buuuuut…I have a food flavoured book quiz. And who is arguing? NO ONE.
How much attention do you pay to food descriptions in books? Can you recognise a book from the food they eat?!
Let’s test your foodie skills, my little pumpkins. If the quiz doesn’t show up below, you can find it here too!
how did you go?! what was your score?! (was the quiz too easy or too hard?) and ARE YOU A FOODIE BOOKWORM?! is it important, in your opinion, for books to copiously mention food??
I love this quiz! Admittedly, I’ve read like, half the books, but I still did rather well in my opinion. 15/19 isn’t too shabby, for a person guessing at the answers. I do love it when you make quizzes Cait. They are the best *nods* I do like good food in books, except in Redwall, where every second chapter is a description of yet another meal, which is mostly the same as ever other meal from every other book and gets boring. But I do like it when books go into details about food, especially food unique to a person like blue food and Percy, or to a book, like Butterbeer and Harry Potter (which books I haven’t actually read).
YESSS ME TOO! I like it when it becomes iconic! Like you literally don’t think of Harry Potter without the butterbeer or chocolate frogs or all the things. :’)
I GOT FIFTEEN AND A CRAVING FOR FOOD. Thanks for that, Cait -_- Also, I’m just now noticing that your name is suspiciously close to the word cake.
OH ALSO I NEED TO READ THE SCORPIO RACES PURELY FOR NOVEMBER CAKES.
YOU ARE SO SO WELCOME. I spread happiness and starvation all over the world. I swear I didn’t choose my name. BLAME MY PARENTS. They foresaw this strange obsession with cake, clearly.
This was so much fun, Cait! 😀 I only got 11 right, though. It’s totally the classics’ fault. The classics killed me! 😀 This post just made me hungry ohmygosh.
HEHE. I don’t even read many classics BUT THEIR FOOD DESCRIPTION. Too juicy to pass up.
I got 11 right! Haha! It was tougher than I thought :P!
Hehe, I’m glad it wasn’t too easy, although only one person got them all, so maybe it was a LITTLE too hard??!
I GOT THEM ALL RIGHT. HUZZAH! Which is pretty crazy, actually, considering I haven’t actually READ them all — but I made some pretty freakishly good guesses. BUT OMMMGGG FOOD. Food + books = THE. BEST.
OMG YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE TO GET THEM ALL RIGHT. CLEARLY CAKE FOR YOU.
This is a fabulous quiz. I’m hungry now.
I got 11 right, which isn’t too shabby considering I haven’t read most of these books!
You’re welcome. You know me, being kind and spreading feelings of starvation aaalll around. :’)
Oh wow that was a long quiz but apparently I got 14. I kind of did not read several of the books, so I HAVE MY REASONS. The easiest question was puttanesca hands down, because I saw it and saw “OMG I DIDN’T CONSIDER THIS EXAMPLE AT ALL.” I expected ASOIAF food from the beginning, but I’m kind of surprised you didn’t include anything from The Wrath and the Dawn. And there’s a surprising portion of classics here, but it’s all the more fun. YAY QUIZZES. (Also yay food.)
C’mon now, it was too hard to make it small. TOO MANY EPIC FOOD REFERENCES. And I actually forgot The Wrath and the Dawn. *hangs head in shame* But yes! SEE. I do actually read more than YA…occasionally…though seriously not too often. >_>
This quiz is awesome! I can’t believe how many I actually got right!
WOOOO. GO YOU!! XD
I got a 10 – not too bad! haha I really like those cookbooks based on books, you know? Like the Harry Potter cookbook etc. I have the HP one and The Hunger Games. They have them for TV shows too, which are awesome!!
YES. I would love a cookbook like that one day! 😀 I desperately want to make the Lamb Stew from The Hunger Games! OR SOME OF THE GAME OF THRONES FOOD.
OMG THIS IS AMAZING. I got 10/15 😀 *beams* Though I am gonna admit I guessed about half of those. BUT WHERE IS THE WRATH AND THE DAWN FOOD IN THIS? That book made me ravenous, and your quiz also made me terribly hungry and it’s already 9.40PM and I blame you *cries*
I honestly adore seeing food in books, I can appreciate a protagonist that adores a meal as much as I do hehe. Thanks for putting this together, it must have taken so much time.
I FAILED. I CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT IT. SHAME ON ME. And yes, it did take an uber long time and I was working on it in the middle of the night and CRAVING fOOD OMG I SuFFeRED TO bRING YOU PEoPLEs THIS.
I GOT 11 OUT OF 19 THAT’S NOT TOO BAD, RIGHT? RIGHT!? This quiz was genius – books must mention food. Always. Although it does make me hungry… but that can never be bad thing. Mostly. Argh I can’t believe I got the Anna and the French Kiss one wrong I mean WHAT??? That book is practicallly 30% of my entire being and I got that question wrong! I will not cry. *bawls so much ocean levels rise and flood the entire world*. Okay I feel better now! What is your favourite food reference in a book? 🙂
YES THAT’S NOT TO BAD. YOU GET CAKE REWARDS YOU DO. But shame on messing the Anna one though. SHAME. (Omg, I love that book so much for all the food quotes. Like that pancake scene?! I WANNA GO TO PARIS AND EAT ALL THE FOOD.) Oh I aaaadore all the delicious feast descriptions in GoT. It makes me SO SO HUNGRY.
16 out of nineteen oh yeah! Though some of it was just from context. I got the game of thrones one and two others wrong. You need to try harder next time:) (actually it stretched my braincells perfectly) Food is important. Food makes me happy. Thanks for the quix, Cait!
OMG CLEARLY YOU’RE JUST TOO FOODIE FANTASTIC THEN, SHANTI. hehe And yes, food makes me happy too. Foodie books make me ridiculously happy, unless it’s nearly dinner time and then they make me cranky and ravenous.
I am a “fun foodie” apparently with twelve right. I haven’t even read a lot of these books though so it was a lot of lucky guessing! LOL. Whenever I’m reading a book and they start going into detail about the food, it makes me so hungry and a little whiny, because I don’t want to stop reading to get up and fix something to eat! If only we had 24-hour food delivery in this town…though on second thought, I’d then be too poor to get books! 😛
Well you are EPIC at deducing then, clearly. 😉 But yesssss…omg, sometimes reading makes me ridiculously hungry. Reading before mealtimes = BAD IDEA. Particularly if it’s a really food-orientated sort of book.
Awesome quiz! I have to say, most of them I was guessing on. But number 8 I knew. 😀
YAY I’M GLAD YOU LIKED IT. XD
Aw, I only got eleven right. Still, I found my approach to the quiz really funny because a lot of times I was guessing on the food quotes based on what I knew you liked to read which was not so bad to work with, but then when it turned out there was a book we had apparently both read I would second-guess myself because I would assume we had not both read it and get it wrong. But whatever.
I think books should generally not mention food unless it’s important, just because it’s one of those things that, like going to the bathroom or getting dressed, shouldn’t be important unless it is important. *nods* And that might not make sense but I tried.
Zomg, you CHEATER. 😉 Hehe, actually that’s kind of smart. I actually used a lot of classics, though! And I don’t really read classics anymore (I mean, I did read Heidi and Farmer Boy and all of those in my childhood so MEMORIES).
Omg, really?! I think food is really important for world building. And it can be a good backdrop for interesting conversations…instead of like just having endless dialogue, you can have them sharing a meal in the background. *nods* It needs to ADD to the story, though.
I got 16! I didn’t think I would do so well. I’ve not read all the books listed so I did have to guess some, but I think I did pretty well. Your quizzes are seriously awesome.
YAAY I’M GLAD YOU LIKE THEM. XD I’m trying to think up different quizzes from the average “which Ya heroine are you” hehe. SO MUCH FUN.
I did not do too well, but I also hadn’t read a number of the books that were an answer, and I think I got the score I got by guessing well because I read maybe 3 of the books that were the correct answer. I got a 10. I think it was moderate, and it would’ve been easier if I had only read more of the books. YES, THEY SHOULD. YES, I AM. 😉
WHAT IS YOUR FAVE FOOD, CAIT???
STILL! YOU DID GOOD. Particularly if you hadn’t read a lot of them!
Omg, do not ask me mean hard questions. DO NOT BE CRUEL. Okay, but I have a severe weakness for pumpkin lasagna and brownie cheesecake and also cake. Obviously. *nods*
I got 14! Given that I’ve hardly read any of these books, I’m proud of myself. Seriously though, what on Earth is Farmer Boy???
Oh, and you were so mean using that Heidi quote… that book sparked my love affair with food, I swear!
Beth x
****GASSSSSSP**** BETH. You haven’t read any books by Laura Ingalls Wilder!??!? Like she’s ICONIC. That’s where Farmer Boy fits in. XD
I seriously hated reading Heidi when I was little because of all the food. I wanted cheese so bad. Darn you, Heidi, and your delicious goats.
OOH OOH 14/19.
NOT BAD XD But but but can we talk about how you’ve made me hungry after all these foodie posts >_> I’m starving and there’s no cake *sobs*
Also I just like Katniss a lot. Now there’s a young ‘un who knows how to love food the proper way xD
YES. WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT. I make myself hungry and it’s quite disastrous tbh.
I got 11…but most of those were guesses.
Points for November cakes! One day I will print the recipe and bake some. XD
ME TOO. Or, better idea! YOU make some and then give them to me. *nods* Make it happen, yes?
I love this! It was awesome. All I had to do was see the picture for the first one and I was like HUNGER GAMES! *flails*
I got 13, although I haven’t actually read many of these books. Then of course, I did get the TFiOS one wrong, and I have read that. Also, the Farmer Boy one and I probably read that about five times when I was under 12 years. . .
I think food descriptions/food scenes are important to books (especially fantasy, world building and all that). Food is something that all humans need to, you know, SURVIVE! It’s a need that we all have in common and therefore it brings us together (literally and metaphorically). During mealtimes funny things happen, serious things are talked over, announcements are celebrated. But it would be nothing without food. The food ought to be described. I think it has a right. 😉
YES. xD Some of them are like iconic, right?! The butterbeer and hunger games…oh but I wanted to put in a Divergent Dauntless Cake BUT I COULDN’T FIND A SIMPLE QUOTE. gah.
And you know how hard it was to pick just ONE Farmer Boy quote?!? Like 90% of that book is food description. XD
12/19 — and that chocolate cake in #7 is making me really really hungry right now (and that salad in #16! mmmmm). Not to mention I recently finished reading The Scorpio Races and have been craving November cakes for the past week. I like food.
Great idea for a quiz!
IT WAS TORTUROUS TO MAKE, SERENA. APPRECIATE THE PAIN I WENT THROUGH FOR YOU GUYS. Scrolling through hundreds of chocolate cakes…*melts into pit of hunger* hehe
According to your quiz, I am a foodie bookworm. And that panini looks delicious and now, despite it being only about 8:45 in the morning, I want paninis. Because deliciousness. Maybe I need to make November Cakes again, ’cause it’s one more day ’til September, and that’s close enough.
I want all the things. Is it too early for chocolate cake? CAN IT EVER BE AN INAPPROPRIATE TIME FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE. November….September, basically the same thing. *nods*
A FOODIE BOOK QUIZ YES.
I felt very competitive when I started this and I’m proud to say I got 17/19. That’s right, I’m AWESOME.
Must admit I didn’t exactly KNOW all of them for sure, but a process of elimination proved very helpful. OKAY I took this way to seriously. :’)
YES YOU ARE STILL AWESOME. (I don’t know if anyone got a perfect score yet!??) And yes yes, deducing. You’re like Sherlock, basically. The Foodie Sherlock.
The Foodie Sherlock?! That’s going on my CV for sure.
I got 16 out of 19, so, Foodie Fanatic. I really liked the quiz, though I hadn’t read all the books or anything. Actually, I was a bit surprised by some of the information I knew about books I hadn’t read, and also by how I could guess my way through in some places. Great quiz!
Yaaaay! At least it wasn’t too hard, right?!? (Although no one’s got a perfect score yet, so, oops.)
13! 🙂 But now I’m hungry . . . I’m also extremely ashamed of myself for missing the Bad Beginning one. Clearly this means I need to reread the entire series right away.
*gasps* omg, Kate, you let me down. XD I think of the Baudelaires every time we eat pasta.
I only got 12. But I’m hungry and my brain isn’t working properly. Time to go and eat!
IT IS A QUIZ OF FOOD AND BOOKS AND TORTURE.
16/19 and I’ve only read five of the books that were the correct answers. (and I got at least one wrong on a question that I had read the book). Also, thank you for quoting Maggie Steifvater so much XD because of you I got the Blue Lily, Lily Blue one XDDDD
I LOVED THIS QUIZ. YOU ARE BRILLIANCE, CAIT(or should I say Cake…)
hehe, my Maggie Stiefvater obsession was strong with this one, right!?? She snuck on there twice.
yep XD and I got them both right
I got 14, which I suppose wasn’t too bad given that there are a few here I’ve never read. BUT NOW I NEED CAKE. AND PANINIS. AND ALL OF THESE THINGS. (And yes, I just had lunch less than two hours ago. BUT STILL.)
IT WAS TORTURE MAKING IT, I TELL YOU. And I was making it at 10pm and I still was starving.
10/19…. I could probably do better but this just made me soooo hungry! 🙂
Omg, I UNDERSTAND THE HUNGER FEELS. It was torturous googling for all the food pictures. XD
10 right. some of the questions were hard as i didn’t read any of the books. i think there was one question that i got wrong and i had read the book. cool quiz
YAY! I’m glad you liked it! 😀 I did try and stick in a few obscurer ones, but…hopefully it wasn’t too random. xD
I GOT 13! WOW … and I was so sure I was going to fail miserably. Anyhow, this was a fun quiz, Cait, and a little hard for me because I hadn’t read all the books. Oh, and books and food go together like honey and toast. Actually I have this thing (that I only realized when my family pointed it out to me) that in every book I write chocolate chip biscuits are mentioned at least once and often baked throughout the course of the story. So yeah, books + food = happiness!
P.S. How on earth do you make your quizzes? They are quite admirable.
I just make them through Playbuzz! You sign up to get an account and there are a bunch of different kinds of quizzes you can make and it’s SUPER easy and fun. 😀 Very time consuming though. I was working on this for like 2 days. XD
Oh! OH! I’m the same with writing though! I basically always have a character who eats a lot. ALWAYS. And there’ll be like a Feature Food in each book. Like M&Ms was in one, and muffins was in another, and ice cream in another, hehe…sweet tooth reigns supreme here.
AWESOME quiz. I got 11! Also, I crave chocolate cake now. Thanks.
You’re welcome. :’) It’s a torturous quiz, tbh.
CAIT, YOU CRUEL PERSON, I’m now hungry. I want that chocolate cake, IT LOOKS SO AMAZING OMG.
I got 11 right which I’m proud of because I haven’t read all of these. GO ME.
I AM A CRUEL PERSON. But come now. Do you expect kindness from me? PFfft. FOOD TORTURE.
I got 13 right. And I had never read any of the ones I got wrong. THis was fun. Thanks for making it Cait.
HERE, YOU GET CAKE OF TRIUMPH THEN.
Yayyy I eat books. I think I already knew that, but it’s nice to get confirmation sometimes. I still think I should have done better, though. I got four wrong! Hmph. I think this is my favorite quiz of yours yet. 😀
tut tut, shame on you, Maraia. 😉 BUT STILL. That’s one of the higher scores! Apparently the quiz is quite hard….oops.
Haha, I’m glad it was challenging and not completely obvious. I was just surprised that you didn’t have a quote from The Wrath and the Dawn!
I got 13 right! Woot, that’s better than I thought I’d get. A few were definitely very obvious (Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland), but the seven I missed were mostly books I haven’t read, but even a few books I HAVE read! (I also got a few right when I haven’t read the books. Because I’m awesome.) Super fun quiz, Cait! I’m hungry now!
I am hungry too so YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS FEELING. *sigh* Who made this quiz though? Torturous monster. *glares at self* XDXD
This was a super fun quiz! I got 17/19, which makes me a foodie fanatic! And yes, I love it when books mention food – it makes them more relatable and memorable, because who forgets a description of a delicious or unique meal?
WOOT! I think that’s one of the highest scores so far! (I probably did make it a little hard!? But a challenge can be cool.)
I got 13 correct! Which I’m quite happy with, seeing as I haven’t read half these books. I knew the Percy Jackson one straight away though 😉
Also, I love your new blog design! 😀
Ahhh, thanks Felicity!! 😀 I’M SO GLAD YOU LIKE IT!! Squee! And GOOD JOB for 13 too, btw, particularly if you didn’t recognise a lot of them. xD There are a lot of sneaky classics in there too, ehhe
Well I only got four wrong! and considering I have not read any of the books to choose from in three of those ones and some others…… I did pretty good!
Omg, you are clearly QUEEN OF THIS QUIZ THEN.
HOW ABOUT THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER?! Food is the best. Especially cake and candy. It’s such a shame that it is so difficult to eat whilst reading! SOMEONE NEEDS TO SOLVE THIS DEADLY PROBLEM. It’s a major issue, okay?!
YES IT IS THE BEST THING EVER. Although torture. Omg, do you realise the pain I went through googling so much chocolate cake to bring this quiz to you peoples!? PAIN. TORTURE.
*whispers* I totally don’t eat and read either. :O I don’t want to wreck my books!
Only you would think of a post like this Cait! 😂 I guess that’s why I love you so much, right? ♥
Anyway, this was so entertaining. I never really think about books in food, but now that you mention it, it is mentioned a ton. I think food really helps showcase your world-building and says something about your book’s culture and people that you couldn’t really put into words, you know?
Also +50 for including Percy Jackson, Flipped and The Hunger Games. You knew I would be happy with you, right? 😉
Thanks for sharing this Cait – definitely one of the most entertaining post I’ve read all day. ♥
YES. THAT IS WHY YOU LOVE ME. I am here to bring the foodies and bookworms together, basically. *bakes everyone a pie and eats it all*
Awk, but yes! I think food totally helps with world-building and culture. Especially in fantasy worlds! Like if you want a Persian based fantasy world and can’t SAY persia, obviously, you can just start bringing in Middle Eastern foods and BOOM. The audience totally gets it.
HAAA I THOUGHT YOU WOULD APPRECIATE FLIPPED. 😀
I’m impressed, I knew 14 out of 19!!
Here’s one for you:
“We had boar and venison and fowls of all kinds, a peacock pie with its great tail fanned out, sallats, soft white bread, almond custard, fish, figs, Zibou dates.”
OMG.
OMG.
I’M STUMPED.
I want to say Girl of Fire and Thorns…but I don’t think it is. The peacock pie reminds me of something though… TELL ME??
Considering I haven’t read most of the books…I still got 13 🙂
And I think it is important for books to mention food…it adds to the culture of the characters’ surroundings.
YES it totally does add culture! Plus I feel more kinship to characters who have to eat instead of just fighting #924802 million battles with no food or breaks. -_-
I WISH I COULD’VE ANSWERED. It’s because I haven’t read most of the books in here, and I didn’t want to just takes chances, lol. But OMG those pictures!! I’m hungry already!!!
I WAS SO HUNGRY MAKING IT. SERIOUS FOOD TORTURE HERE.
Did much better than I expected – I must absorb food descriptions more than I believe I do! 😛 What a great quiz! Can’t wait to see what other ones you bring out soon! 🙂
It was super
torturousfun to make! (But seriously, googling for all those food pictures…ZOMG I AM SO HUNGRY NOW.)Cait, your new design is so lovely! The arrow is especially pretty. Anyway, I’m a wishful foodie, and I only got eight right. But to be honest, I guessed on about 90 percent of them. So I guess that means that I’m either a bad guesser, or I just don’t pay enough attention to food descriptions 😛
AHHHH THANK YOU! 😀 I AM SO GLAD YOU LIKE IT! There were a lot of obscure books in this one though! A lot of classics too. *nods* But still! YOU DID GOOD.
OH MY GOD CAIT THIS IS CLEARLY THE BESTEST QUIZ /EVER/ AND I APPRECIATED THE QUOTE ABOUT LEMON CAKES! OMG, SANSA. <3
Anyway, apparently I'm a book foodie! I got 16/19 correct! I confused Aristotle & Dante with Twilight, Heidi with The Book Thief, and The Fault in our Stars with Percy Jackson (well, no surprise there… it's been forever since I read it). OMG BUT FOR THE BOOKS I DIDN'T KNOW I GUESS I'M JUST VERY GOOD AT GUESSING OR HAVING HEARD THE QUOTES (like for The Help).
IT TOTALLY IS AND I’M GLAD YOU APPRECIATE IT. Although, seriously, TORTURE creating it. Scrolling through all those food pictures. *wipes drool off laptop* hehe, I was hoping Heidi and The Book Thief would be a trickier one. 😉 I mean, EVERYONE probably got the butterbeer! That’s just so famous.
Oh my goodness. I ENDED UP GETTING 16 OUT OF 19. (No one is surprised, considering how much I adore food and books and any combination thereof.) I especially loved seeing November cakes mentioned! The Scorpio Races is my favorite FAVORITE thing. I also loved the references to The Fault in Our Stars, Blue Lily Lily Blue, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Help. YOU KNOW SO MANY OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS.
I especially love fantasy books with wonderful food descriptions as well! Great quiz, Cait 😀 (The Girl of Fire and Thorns comes to mind all of a sudden. EEEK. What a beautiful foodie book.)
SO MUCH STIEFVATER THOUGH XD I am a fan, hehe, and I cannot be contained. I want to make those November Cakes one day. THEY LOOK SO DELICIOUS OMG.
AHHH YES!! I loved all TGoFaT food descriptions. I don’t own the book or else I would’ve used that one too. Basically, this quiz could’ve been #935830 questions long.
Well, I got 10 right. But to be perfectly honest, there were some guesses in there. Fine, at least 7 of them were guesses. Educated ones, some. But mostly random. I like food in books! I also like food out of books, but a book-food combo is especially enticing. As for the difficulty of the quiz… well it WAS hard for me, but I think that is because I am a failure at reading children’s literature in general. Obviously, I got The Hunger Games one right 😉 And TFIOS. And even Harry Potter! OH and BLLB, because even though I haven’t read it, I knew the writing style/character enough. That is at least mildly impressive, right? 😉 SO FUN!
HEHE. I had a lot of classics in there too, which is unusual for me since I’m like 90% anti-classic (oops) but YAY. And it is mildly impressive *nods* particularly if you got BLLB off style alone!
What a perfectly wonderful idea Cait, a food quiz. I really enjoyed that. I am a Foodie Fanatic, and sixteen out of nineteen isn’t bad considering I haven’t even read most of the books. I think food must be in books, for them to be somewhat enjoyable. I just love the descriptions.
Ooh, you are very good at deducing then! 😀
CAIT THE NEW DESIGN IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND AHHH.
Also this post. THIS POST IS AMAZING AND YUMMY AND EVEN THOUGH I JUST ATE BREAKFAST I
well, congratulations to me for being so tech savvy WHY DID I JUST POST A HALF-FINISHED COMMENT.
anyway.
CAIT THE NEW DESIGN IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND AHHH.
Also this post. THIS POST IS AMAZING AND YUMMY AND EVEN THOUGH I JUST ATE BREAKFAST I AM NOW HUNGRY. Also can I just say, FARMER BOY <3 I LOVE THE LAURA INGLALLS SERIES and my mum and I always joke that you CANNOT read Farmer Boy without eating at the same time, BECAUSE THOSE MEALS HE HAS.
ALSO I GOT 15/19 which i think is pretty darn good because i hadn't read some of the books and STILL GOT SOME OF THEM RIGHT. *pats self on back*
HAHA YOU ARE HILARIOUS. XD Ahem. But I was making this quiz at like 10pm and I WAS REALLY HUNGRY IT WAS KIND OF LIKE TORTURE. I hope you all appreciate the torture I went through to build this. *collapses dramatically*
how did you go?!
I got nine out of nineteen right, which I’m feeling alright about. Some of the books I haven’t yet read, but the ones I did read I got mostly right. But really. This shows me that I need to pay attention to the food in books more. Although it’s probably because I don’t try and imagine the food that much in case I start getting all hungry and whatnot because gah it’s torture when you can’t have just what is being described. And heck yeah we need more food in books!!!
WELL C’MON, MAWA! I made it. So I know all the answers. 😉 But seriously…the torture of reading a foodie book while hungry is totally underestimated. IT MAKES ME WANT TO EAT THE BOOK OMG. I didn’t put The Wrath and the Dawn in the quiz *facepalm* but, that’s probably got some of my FAVOURITE food descriptions ever. *wipes drool off laptop*
14 right! (Although I’ll admit some were just guesses) Food is in more books than I’ve realized. And all different foods, too.
FOOD IN BOOKS IS PURELY GLORIOUS. XD
I got 12 right, pretty pleased with that because the ones I did get wrong were from books I haven’t read. After reading the descriptions of all the food, I’m off to snack.. Not the first time your blog had made me hungry.. I bow to the Queen of Book Food 🙂
HAHA. Everyone is complaining this post made them hungry! WELL. IT WAS TORTUROUS FOR ME TO MAKE. I was making it at night and stilllll got super hungry scrolling through all the chocolate cake pictures. XD
I don’t think I’ve paid attention to food in books since the weird things in Game of Thrones and ofcourse, Harry Potter. But I think I’ve read enough reviews to somehow get~ Foodie Fanatic: YOU’RE THE ULTIMATE BOOK FOODIE FIEND! You basically EAT books! haha this was such a cool quiz but now I’m starving (and I just ate dinner??!)
Side-affects of doing this quiz are: dying of starvation. SORRY BUT I’M NOT EVEN SORRY.
Eleven isn’t so bad. XD But seriously, the PJO was a quick click for me.
hehe, Percy’s Blue food obsession is kind of iconic, right?!?
I got 16/19, and I hadn’t read the book. So I think that’s quite good. Cait, this quiz was so much fun, and of course you’re blog isn’t all food. Anyway, this made me hungry!~ XD
My blog is just, like 70% food references. OMG I CAN’T EVEN HELP IT.
Wooo, 11 out of 19. I’m feeling proud of myself since I didn’t know at least half of the books provided in the options. Naturally, I knew where puttanesca comes from. In that, I just saw that word and things were clear. You don’t need to read the full sentence to know where that comes from. 😀
I even luckily guessed some correctly! 😀 But the biggest fail of mine was at the last question. I knew the right book (I’ve read it, I know who really loves lemon cake etc.). but for some reason my brain didn’t want work (maybe because it’s 8:40 AM?) and I chose another one that I’ve read, but that isn’t the correct one. Oh, well.
Great quiz, Cait! Thanks!
EXACTLY! XD I can’t even eat pasta without thinking of puttanesca without thinking of the Baudelaires. xD BEST SERIES EVER. Aahhhh I’m glad you liked the quiz though! 😀
Awh, I want some butterbeer now…
I got a surprising number (surprising number to me anyway) of your quiz right, even though I only recognised five of the quotes. Though, I’ll admit I didn’t even have to finish reading #7 before I knew. *cough* obsessed. Ahem. Who said that? 😀
I LOVED this quiz!! 🙂 Especially because you added Oliver Twist and Anne of Green Gables and Farmer Boy. (I was waiting for Farmer Boy. It’s the FOODEST FILLED books EVER. IT’S A TOTUREEEE.)
I got eleven right, which is good, for me. 😛
Thank you so much, Cait!
~ Naomi
I got 10 right, but there were quite some books I haven’t read, so not bad.The Butter beer one or the ‘EAT ME’ were in the pocket of course :D. The huge chocolate cake and the changing colored caramels were also no problem. FUN!
10… Not terrible, not great either xD I only knew the very obvious (well, if you’ve read them I guess…) children’s ones like HP, Matilda, Alice in Wonderland etc… The rest were a lucky guess xD
This has got to be one of my all time favourite blog posts.
I love quizzes and never even thought of creating one for my blog!
also I love books and I love food so I think it is simply wonderful that you have combined my three loves – books, food and quizzes!
I love forward to more quizzes from you!
withloveamrit♥
Omg, I AM SO PLEASED, AMRIT. 😀
I only got 11, but in my defence I haven’t read all of these! Clearly I need to read more books that feature food. Why don’t the blurbs say ‘includes food’! I want check lists on the back of a book from now on haha.
I loved this quiz! 🙂
I got 14 points! Which I’m actually pretty proud with (apparently I’m a real noticer of food things!), because half of the quotes? I hadn’t read the books they were from, or watched the movies. Something about a lot of the quotes (which were a nice mix of easy and hard, for sure) made me consider all the options and feel certain as to which it was. I EVEN GOT TWILIGHT RIGHT! WOO!
