I love hyped books. I truly do. But far too many excellent books get lost in the crowd.
I’m torn about this because (a) not EVERY book can be massively hyped, this just makes sense, and the average person doesn’t read 4908 books a year so how can we possibly catch everything?! But then on the other side: (b) it’s still frustrating knowing so so many good books are tumbled into the bookish version of that weird kitchen drawer that’s labelled “miscellaneous” and is utterly terrifying to dig through but you’ll probably find batteries and a good biro deep in there somewhere.
What’s going on with my metaphors today? WE DON’T KNOW. WE JUST GO WITH IT.
Also I read 200+ books a year and am still behind. How even.
so let me bring some under-hyped 2018 books to your attention with the #HypeYour5 tag!
Helpful things to know before we begin are:
1) this was created by Mackenzi Lee on instagram!
2) I’m totally going to do TEN lmao you knew I wouldn’t write a post of just five
3) I’m only doing 2018 releases or else this post would be The Wicker King 10 times
4) actually *small claim to fame moment* Mackenzie Lee shared my Story…I…I am STAR STRUCK AND FULL OF SPARKLES
1. SUMMER OF SALT by Katrina Leno
This book is so entirely full of heart and it manages to be soft AND dark?!? It has witches and an island setting and teen girls just trying to figure out what to do with their lives. The actual sweetest f/f romance. Magical birds. And it so captures what it is to have anxiety (relatable) and have a family who bewitch things (less relatable bUT I can live in hope my family will get more interesting someday). I never see much talk about Leno’s books???? Injustice smh.
2. SALT by Hannah Mokoswitz
Apparently I am here for the SALTY BOOKS. Although this one is about monster hunters — it’s basically like the Winchesters from Supernatural, but as four siblings, hunting sea monsters and bickering. Families who slay together, stay together. Aw! Indi is a soft Hufflepuff who wants OUT of this life. It’s really small but packs such an emotional punch. The salt in the title is for (a) your tears, and (b) the ocean, and (c) a good reminder to season your food.
3. BOOMERANG by Helene Dunbar
I talk about this one a bit here, but it’s sTILL UNDER HYPED. And actually this is a fabulous comparative title for my next book, The Boy Who Steals Houses, so go ahead and read this while you wait. [INSERT ME FLAILING] It has a neglected boy who ran away and found a loving family…but obviously that doesn’t last forever. Emotionally complex queer love triangle. Really good dyslexia rep. Treehouses. Me feeling way way too many things.
4. SOMEWHERE, SOMEDAY by Lindsay Champion
I have a really soft squishy place in my heart for this, because Lindsay is with the same literary agency as me (!!) and we both debuted this year with music books. So like RELATE. This is dual-narrated with a cute romance and it has a mental illness spiral + lots of ambitious kids + and ending that is all ajfdksald. (Apparently I’m a blogger and can’t use words so AJFDSLKAD IT IS.)
5. WHEN MY HEART JOINS THE THOUSAND by AJ Stieger
This is about an emancipated autistic teen! And the rep is like…so so good!? Astoundingly, it didn’t mock autism or make her change (CUE GASP). And it also has a boy who walks with a cane (I can’t remember the exact name of his condition, but his bones are super soft and breakable). Anyway, there’s animal love and anxiety and homelessness and I will SHOUT. Quite firmly. Until it is read more.
6. PACIFICA by Kristen Simmons
ONE OF MY FAVE FRIENDSHIPS EVER. Ross and Adam will platonically die for each other and you know what??? Here for this. Also trash pirates + dystopian + #ownvoices rep with a bit of retelling of the Japanese concentration camps. And did I mention it is so so good?? TRASH PIRATES.
7. BLOOD & SAND by C.V. Wyk
All you need to know is = GENDERBENT SPARTACUS RETELLING. Look, I just love the badass stabby girls who are utterly terrifying and we love them anyway. Also Attia is a secret burnt marshmallow. And it has Rome and gladiators and the love interest is a soft cinnamon roll assassin. What more can we want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
8. SMALL SPACES by Sarah Epstein
Dude this was creepy. It’s a thriller with a girl who’s literally gaslit the entire time…and it’s CREEPY. I don’t usually like thrillers because the characters seem flat, but this??? nooo. The characters were dimensional and it has creepy childhood imaginary friends. Just to make you look fondly back at your childhood …and scream. Aw!
9. WHITE RABBIT by Caleb Roehrig
Again with me saying “eh no” to thrillers…anD THEN FINDING ONE THAT SMASHES MY EXPECTATIONS. Yes please this is good. Also I really love books that are queer but not just contemporaries?! Let the queers take over all the genres ok. This is fine. Anyway there is murder and heartbreak and some seriously messed up stuff. Because MURDER, JOHN.
Also this is a book I bought and then actually read right away and I do not understand who I have become. A functional person?! Wild.
10. THE DANGEROUS ART OF BLENDING IN by Angelo Surmelis
Aaaaand let’s finish of with one last one to make you CRY. I swear I do read happy books. I…*checks smudged writing on hand* read one back in 1766 and plan to read another one soon. Moving forward → look this book is about abuse and art and tragic Greek boys and has an mlm romance and is #ownvoices. And the cover looks like someone spilled sprinkles. I love sprinkles and I’m also a mess. So this aesthetic calls to me.
YESSS to the dangerous art of blending in – that book is INCREDIBLE. I sadly haven’t read ANY of the others BUT I PLAN TO OKAY ASKLFHGT! two of my hidden gems this year have been the lovely vicious series (oh my goodness jack and isis are jUsT tHe SnArKiEsT AND they have tHE BEST BANTER askfjifh) and then queens of geek which is by jen wilde and is awesome AND ownvoices. legend was also incredible (i mean DAY IS JUST A SNARKY CINNAMON ROLL) but that DID have hype… and it wasn’t published this year. wildcard was also fantastic AND what if it’s us was so #soft. AND HOW CAN I NOT MENTION ATPN cause like your book was ahhhmazzing. I wanna write like that AND BECK IS A SOFT BOY (tm by you).
Sorry for the super long comment but I MEAN ITS BOOKS. I HAD NO CHOICE. also for some
weird reason i haven’t been able to comment for FOREVER so this makes up for it 🙂
Rhi xxx
It’s like no matter how many books we read…WE STILL DON’T GET THEM ALL???? What is this nonsense. We need to pause time. Ahh.
I love Queens of Geek too! That came out last year right? IT was so cute and funny.
And omg ajfdkslad thank you for reading ATPN I absolutely cRY with happiness 😭💛💛💛 Beck needs to be protected aka no one let me write again. 😂
(And I appreciate all comments! YOU ARE KIND!)
WE SHOULD GET MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT. TO MAKE SURE WE DONT RAMPAGE.
It was AWESOME.
AHH I LOVED ATPN so so much I absolutely cannot wait for your next book and when my friend heard a new book of yours was coming out she screamed. just saying 😉 love ya always cait xx
ajfdkslad YOU ARE THE KINDEST. YOU AND YOUR FRIEND BOTH !!! I WOULD GIVE YOU ALL THE CAKE !!!!
why thank you *shares cake* we really loved atpn 💜
Oooh I definitely want to check loads of these out… Especially ‘Where my heart joins the thousand’! Guess my Amazon wishlist will get some love today. B x
http://www.babblesnbooks.wordpress.com
These underrated posts are destined to make all of our TBRs expand hahah.
I’m ashamed to say that no I haven’t read any of these books. I NEED TO RECONSIDER MY LIFE CHOICES ADHDHSJ. There are so many great books on this list.
I think my #1 underrated book of 2018 is A Winter’s Promise by Christelle Dabos. Actually, it was originally published years ago (can’t remember the year lmao) in French and the English translation was only released this year. It’s a high fantasy book that has this atmospheric vibe and I just wanted to eat all the words. Kudos to the translator actually. It’s the first translated book I’ve ever read and I’m really happy that I loved it!
It’s like no matter how hard we read…as soon as the underrated lists come out it’s like: HELLO I’VE READ NOTHING. *wails* 😂
Ooh and I haven’t heard of A Winter’s Promise! But LOVE that title and I want to read more translated books so I should go check it out…!
I’d only heard of one of these books before reading this! So many of them have been added to my TBR!
Eeep, I’m glad I was convincing then!!😂
I haven’t read any of these! Probably because I’m terrible at reading new releases. I’ll probably read these 10 years from now. I am interested in Boomerang, even though I think the cover is hideous. It sounds really good!
Ok agreed that the Boomerang cover is not my favourite.😂It kind of looks like it’ll be an MG clubhouse mystery or something lmao. BUT THE INSIDES ARE EXCELLENT.
I am here for the metaphors! 🙌🏻
“it’s still frustrating knowing so so many good books are tumbled into the bookish version of that weird kitchen drawer that’s labelled “miscellaneous” and is utterly terrifying to dig through but you’ll probably find batteries and a good biro deep in there somewhere.” – my Mum’s whole house 😂
omg I’m so glad someone got that weird kitchen drawer reference. I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS. 😂
Me: I have read a TON of 2018 releases! *has read one of these*tbr grows*
I did read Blood and Sand and definitely agree with that, some others I find underrated are
-Fawkes by Nadine Brandes, I feel like there was a little hype when it came out and when I was reading it I remember a bunch of my GR friends adding it to there tbr, then it vanished (??why??)
-Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman
-ATPN
-Blood and Sand (I’m worried we might have to wait longer for the sequel because book 1 came out February and it’s December and there still isn’t a cover or official release date)
-Daughter of the Pirate King duology by Tricia Levenseller finished this year but everyone missed it
I’ve read Fawkes!! And yeah I was going to put it on the list, but I checked its goodreads stats, and they’re actually pretty high?! So maybe I just run in the wrong circles as to who is reading it.😂 Alsooo I kind of forgot Bood & Sand needed a sequel?! WE NEED ONE.
I am very appreciative to literally anyone who picks up my smol ATPN. 😭💛I kind of thought more people would but lmao oh well.
Oooh my new favorite book, Evil Genius by Catherine Jinks, is definitely under-hyped. It came out in 2005?? But still!!! Ahhhhh it’s about a tenn genius and he goes to a school teaching him evil things and it’s fabulous!!!
UGH I’m going to do a review on it (eventuallyyyy) because it’s fabuloussss!!!
OH! I’ve actually heard of that one! I did library it once, but it ended up having to go back before I read it. (Then I moved towns lol.) But I’m going to read it eventually!!
Hi, Cait !!!
Wow !!! Sooooo many underhyped books !!! I’ve read a great deal of them, but not all of them, so I’ll write them down and check them out. THANKS FOR THE RECS, gurl !!! There are so many amazing books that came out this year and nobody talks about, so it’s amazing to write these posts and spread the word about total must-reads. For instance, I read Salt, The Dangerous Art of Blending In, Boomerang and Summer of Salt. Aaaaaand I read Blood & Sand because of you and absolutely adored it <3
Kisses!
It’s impossible to talk about them all buuuut still so frustrating!? ALL THESE BOOKS DESERVE MORE LOVE. *flails*
Ahhh this is such a good list and I always appreciate discovering books like that <3 I have Summer of Salt on my TBR actually and I can't wait to read it, it sounds SO great and I'm also so very much in love with this book cover. And someday, Somewhere sounds so good! Really need to add that one to my TBR 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing these! <3
Aww thank you for reading! *happy flails* And we bloggers are all here to make sure none of us ever reach the end of our TBRs. 😂
I READ SUMMER OF SALT AND I ADORED IT.
The aesthetic of that book is absolute and complete perfection. *nods firmly*
Like I just remember this scene where it’s raining cats & dogs outside and they pull a fresh-baked cake out of the oven and tHEN HER MOM JUST CASUALLY CREATES A BIRD’S NEST OUT OF WITCHCRAFT and I was sitting there soaking it all up with a huge grin. #love
Isn’t the aesthetic just beyond perfect!? I absolutely LONG to write something with that kind of epic aesthetic ahhh.
#WRITING GOALS
I swear everytime I read one of your posts, my TBR screams as it’s expanded infinitely and this one was just CALLING for it.
For some reason, I keep avoidimg Someday Somewhere because *sad* but Ik I’m going to end up reading it now that it’s also validated by you.
THIS IS A GOOD RESULT THEN (apologies to you and your TBR though 😂😂)
DUDE I’VE MISSED READING YOUR POSTS SO MUCH!!! Like I just realise how much energy you put into your poists, and how you make every book seem interesting and amazing LIKE HOW. You’re honestly so talented. I want to read all of these right away, like literally! Have I read any of these books? NOOOO. But I REALLY want to read Someday, Somewhere and Also Summer of Salt look at all this brilliance sibilance. Me thinking back to underhyped gems published in 2018?? I CANNOT THINK OF ANY THAT I HAVE READ. now I’m having a crisis about how I maybe only read hyped books1??! *Scream*
AWW I’VE MISSED YOU TOOOOO. I confess I’ve been really slack with blogging and reading blogs this year (and also really inconsistent gah) so I’m sorry about that too. And honestly I feel like I’ve been blogging like a dried up melon so this iS SO ENCOURAGING THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. *flails and gives you at least 5 cakes*
You’re right, I have never even heard of any of these books :O although I’ve also been super bad at keeping up with the most current releases lately.
And I probably read more YA than you 😂 and I’m terrible at keeping up with an adult books haha omg.
Currently, I’m terrible at keeping up to ANY books at all xD I literally have no idea what’s coming out. I guess that’s what you get for not going to NetGalley anymore xD
Cait, what would be our reading lives if it wasn’t for all your awesome recommendations?
Apparently, I just added two other books with male characters going through tragic circumstances based on your list, so thanks in advance for the pain that they will inevitably cause.
I have to agree with you that one of the most underhyped books ever is The Wicker King. That book broke my heart in a hundred pieces, and even though I admit it may not be a book for everyone, I still want to make everyone read it. Running With Lions was another hidden gem: I never knew how much I needed queer footballers and supportive friends, hahah!
Honestly the amount of tragic characters on my list is probably a worry. 😂 BUT WE JUST GO WITH IT. And ahh I’m so glad you’ve read The Wicker King too because it deserves 100 x more love and flail and hype than it got. It was an absolute masterpiece?! I did read Running With Lions too!
I have to admit I’ve not even heard of any of these books but I totally did just add them all to my TBR! I love discovering new gems and these all sound fantastic. 2019 is going to be a busy year… seriously, how are we meant to get through all of these books when authors keep publishing new ones haha!
I don’t think I read a book that was underhyped this year because I’m such a slow reader that I haven’t even read all the hyped books yet, but I did read one book that I saw some people talking about but it wasn’t getting as much love as it should and that was This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada (even though it came out in 2017 but it came out at the end of 2017 so it should still count haha). I LOVED it and I definitely think it should be raved about from the rooftops as much as books like The Cruel Prince and Children of Blood and Bone were this year, although both of those were amazing and deserved all the hype surrounding them!
omg I absolutely hear you *wails* 😂 I have no idea how I’m going to read all the 2018 books I missed…let alone all the 2019 ones coming up! I did read This Mortal Coil and it got quite a bit of hype in Australia at least.😂But yeah it definitely didn’t get as much discussion as TCP and COBAB!
Well, I can tell you that hyping your favorite underhyped books totally works, because I’d never heard of Pacifica, White Rabbit, Summer of Salt, or Small Spaces before you blogged about them, and now they’re all on my TBR list! I’m sad I haven’t read any yet, because they all look so good. Sometimes it’s hard for me to get to the underhyped books on the TBR when I’m still catching up on the hyped ones. xD
I wish I had underhyped books of 2018 to share with you, but 2018 for me was so “meh” when it came to reading. :/ I only had FIVE 5-star reads, and one of those was a reread of a favorite. Lots of 3.5s and lower. I probably had to balance out my fantastic 2017 reading year, but it still makes it disappointing when I go to write my end-of-the-year wrap-up.
YESSSSS I AM SO GLAD. YOUR TBR IS MOST WELCOME. Although that’s really frustrating you didn’t find a ton of great books this year. But tbh, I actually admit most of my 5-stars were rereads. But it sucks to be in like a year-long slump because the books aren’t doing it for you. I hope next year is better!
I am SO HAPPY to see Pacifica on your list!! I got it out from the library the other day, and I’m SO excited to read it.
It is undeniably EXCELLENT and I’m so excited I got to read it!
I really liked White Rabbit, and I just love the author in general. I have Boomerang on my list of books to read, and I OWN The Dangerous Art of Blending In so I’m getting there. LOL
-Lauren
White Rabbit was so so super good!! AHH
“or else this post would just be The Wicker King 10 times” ME. *whispers* most of the reason I’m excited for The Weight of the Stars is because Jack and August are in it.
The Dangerous Art of Blending In gives me It Looks Like This vibes?? Which I loved, but . . . I don’t know if my gay heart can handle another book like that right now. Especially because I ALSO grew up in a conservative, religious immigrant family, so it hits close to home.
For some reason, I’m not a big new releases person?? Everyone in the blogosphere is talking about these 5 million new books, and I’m only interested in like 2 of them, and then I don’t get around to reading them until 7 years later. So in terms of overall underrated YA, I’d have to recommend the All for the Game trilogy by Nora Sakavic (ofc), City of Strife by Claudie Arseneault (fantasy with an all LGBT+ cast), and The Reluctant Godfather by Allison Tebo (Cinderella retelling from the POV of a very snarky, very reluctant fairy godfather (who loves BAKING and CAKE)).
Eleanor | On the Other Side of Reality
I mean…ALSO YES. Aren’t they the gay dads?! I am so ready to see them still alive and like together 😭💛💛Hopefully with Ria…(that was not her name ahfsdoh I cannot remember her name) as well.
And yeah The Dangerous Art of Blending In is really hard to read BUT it does have a positive ending. It Looks Like This absolutely destroyed me this year omg.
And hey it’s totally fair if you just read what interests you. Life is too short to do otherwise, right?! Unless you’re me, and just read everything and still manage to feel like you read nothing and have a fOREVER CRISIS.
*flails for the Fox boys*
I just wanted to let you know that I tagged you for my NEW blog tag, made for all bookworms who are fans of the Hobbit and LOTR!
You can see the blog tag here: https://litaflame.blog/2018/12/23/forging-the-fellowship-a-blog-tag/
Aw thanks, Julia! I appreciate you thinking of me…although I confess I’m not actually a fan of either. So sorry.😭😭
Ah, no problem!
(By the way, I LOVE your site! You’re such an awesome blogger, and everything’s so purty! 😁👍)
I haven’t read anyyyy of these I’m so disappointed in myself. But we always have next year!!
aaaall the books to read next year, right?! *happy flail*
I haven’t read any of these yet, but there are quite a few of them on my TBR. This is the first I am seeing SMALL SPACES but It looks amazing and I love creepy thrillers. My hidden gem for 2018 is ECHOES by Alice Reads it was a crazy scifi/thriller/mystery that went extremely under hyped!
Yes yes more people need to read Small Spaces! It’s an Aussie release so I’m not surprised it’s a hidden gem! And omg I’ve heard of Echoes but not read it yet.
Can you believe that the only one I’ve read is Salt? Such a fail, I know! But I do want to read basically all of them, so that’s got to count for something, right? I am actually not sure which books I found to be underhyped. Because what IS underhyped? Maybe I am just not in the know hahah. The Loneliest Girl in the Universe was published in the US this year and so I think that counts. The Bird and the Blade. Bring Me Their Hearts. Four Three Two One. The Spy With the Red Balloon. Not Even Bones. Fatal Throne. In Search of Us. Honor Among Thieves. That is all, but it was enough that I probably could have made a post of my own 😂
It is actually hard to tell what’s underhyped because it depends on the circles, I guess??😂Like I thought Tyler Johnson was Here was underhyped, but then I googled it and woah apparently no…it is famous.😂 And I feel like I see The Spy With the Red Balloon EVERYWHERE but also I follow the author on twitter so maybe Im’ just seeing her posts. BLOGGING IS HARD. CRISIS TIME.😂
I haven’t heard of any of these, but BLOOD & SAND by C.V. Wyk looks really good! I haven’t read many 2018 releases! This year was mostly about reading for myself, so I didn’t track many new releases! I did enjoy The Cruel Prince, but that was a hyped read!
It was SO SO good and I’m still mad nobody seems to really have heard of it?! Like historical fiction genderbends are my favourite things. *flails*
Wow, so many of these sound amazing! Especially Salt. Sea monster hunting? YES!
Ahh I hope you get a chance to try it!!
I admit I haven’t heard of any of these before and have definitely added a couple to my TBR. Heh, my ever-growing and never-ending TBR. 😀
That TBR definitely never ends right 😂😂
I didn’t read any of those but sure I added them to my list, at least some of them
I had Pacifica in my list since your review but also… I’m sorry, Salt and sea monsters? My nightmare. I love the sea but also, I know something is lurking in the deep parts. And surviving a nomral dangerous habitant of the sea is difficult enough, I cannot think of monsters.
And those are definitely under-hyped! I rarely heard of them and I kjust discovered some thanks to you
Honestly I freaking hate the idea of sea monsters too.😂I struggle enough with swimming knowing sharks and seaweed exists lmao (SEAWEED IS TERRIFYING AFJDSOHGS).
OMG YAS I know we both love Summer of Salt, it made my best of 2018 list and I HATE how little people know about this. Also 100% agree about Salt and Dangerous Act!
It frustrates me so much how few people seem to read Katrina Leno’s books?! I mean I guess it’s different in bookstores, but just online, they never seem to get half the attention the deserve! JUSTICE. THEY ARE SO GOOD.
I must admit the only two I had heard of were White Rabbit and The Dangerous Art of Blending in… so yes these books are defo under hyped. (And I hadn’t read either of those two anyway :o) Recently I read The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock, a historical magical realism that I hadn’t heard of until Shanti checked it out from the library. It wasn’t fully my style but I loved the writing. I also read Always Never Yours, that I didn’t see a lot of hype for?? It was also not my fave. I read quite a lot of hyped books.. most of the 2018 releases I read were hyped, like iwbft, A Thousand Perfect Notes (I was definitely hyped at any rate), and Obsidio 🙂
I haven’t heard of The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock either! But omg these wonderful sisters with book recs :’) (Although for my sister, I’m the one shoving books at her and demanding she read.😂) I’ve heard of Always Never Yours but not read it.
And I don’t even know if ATPN was hyped or if *I* was just hyping it lmao.😂Does that count?!
BUT CAIT. Metaphors are great. And also very accurate. Maybe we’ll find a sharp knife in there to stab enemies with and slay dragons.
You know most of these books are underhyped because I’m 95% sure I’ve only heard of one or two and it Blood and Sand, thanks to the library. I don’t think I would have known otherwise. 😂😂😂
MY METAPHORS ARE LIVIN’ THEIR BEST LIVES (is that like a metaphor in a metaphor or just….me falling deeper into nonsense? We can never know that either). And omg I have failed though if you’ve not even heard me talk about them until now.😂
I haven’t read any of these, unfortunately! Ones published in 2018: okay well Chainbreaker of course, though I read it last year. By A Charm and A Curse was really great but I barely see anyone talking about it. Fawkes, I found had been hyped a bit more after I read it, but when I first got it from Netgalley, I hadn’t even heard of it. For A Muse of Fire is incredibly underhyped, that one was so good and I only heard about it because I saw Heidi Heilig talking about it. I think that’s actually it, I haven’t read all that many underhyped books this year.
I had only heard of two of these, I’ll definitely check them out! Also I appreciate that you’re spotlighting underrated books, While it’s cool to see everyone reading the same books it’s also kind of a shame that so much gets overshadowed.
Per the usual, I am adding almost every single book to my “to read” list. So, thanks I think ha ha!
EXCELLENT. My work here is done. 😂😂
How is it the only book on this list I’ve heard of is Blood and Sand?!
Adding all of these to my 2019 TBR*
*my bookshelves wail in the distance*
Woah, you are right, I have barely heard of most of these books! I’ve read and loved Small Spaces though which was absolutely fantastic and definitely should be hyped up more~
Well I haven’t read any of these. I haven’t really liked my other Katrina Leno books, and Hannah Moskowitz didn’t work for me. The other ones sound really good! but there is only so much time in the day. I do have a copy of Small Spaces that I swear I will get to any day now (aka in 6 weeks when I am reunited with my books which are on the other side of the world). On the whole, this has been a year of reading hyped books at last and discovering why they were hyped (girls made of Snow and Glass! Uprooted!) but I think that Final Draft by Riley Redgate deserves MUCH more attention.
I am sad to say I haven’t read ANY of these books! But I have seen you speaking about Boomerang on here and I have my eye on that one, it sounds very interesting!
I think one of my underhyped choices would be The Lightning Trail by Rebecca Roanhorse, which I just adored! It was so good! I don’t see it on instagram much though, but perhaps because it is sort of YA but maybe not? Sometimes it’s hard to define!!
🙂
I keep eyeing Someday Somewhere at the library… I’ll have to stop eyeing it and actually pick it up! And I’m currently reading The Dangerous Art of Blending In… I’m only about a quarter of the way in and it’s already shredded my heart. I will have to check out the others,,, I haven’t even heard of most of them… though I have seen Boomerang at the library and Summer of Salt has been mentioned on a few blogs… thank you for adding to my ever growing TBR!! Seriously… thank you!
Yes, Salt was excellent – I want more!
I really want to read summer of salt! it sounds like something
i would enjoy!
