It’s that glorious time when I reflect on how I have more books than sense!
Which isn’t very hard??? Because I only have like 4% sense and even less than that on Tuesdays because I always take Tuesdays off. To do things like eat scones and plot dark conspiracy theories.
And speaking of dark conspiracy theories, it’s APRIL! Which means many writing fiends of the world are going to trundle off and novel themselves into glory and sleep deprivation with Camp NaNoWriMo. Naturally I must join. While you are reading this, I will be hammering away at my laptop to write a book this weekend. Just a quickie. I’m not taking a blogging hiatus so I’ll be around to answer comments and yell at you about scones very soon. But, in case you’re nosey, I’m writing a book about a magical library, origami that comes alive, a smol badass hero, and cereal. You can snoop my pinterest if you like. (There’s a little blurb up there too!) And we can agree AGAIN how little sense I have because I literally came up with this book in 4 days and finished a 16K outline for it in a week.
Oh, what is that you ask? Chill? No. I know not chill.
ALSO GUESS WHO WENT VIRAL ON TWITTER?!?!?!? (Again with the no chill.) I’m still freaking out!!
I’ll only flail for, like, eternity.
Anyway! Onto the books and bookish news!
- ULTIMATUM: Because I’m absolutely trash for brother stories, okay.
- DAUGHTER OF THE PIRATE KING: I’VE BEEN WAITING ALL MY LIFE FOR THIS BOOK. PLEASE BE BRILLIANT. I NEED PIRATES. I LOVE PIRATES.
- A GATHERING OF SHADOWS: I mean obviously this is my favourite book ever because I’m collecting the series in hardcover. #obsessed ★★★★★
- THE MAGICIAN’S GUILD: a glorious library sale steal for 50 cents. I mean. How can I say no.
- REPLICA: Again! Library sale 50 cents steal! I killed the corner of the cover getting the sticker off. [mumbled curses of pain]
- WHEN THE MOON WAS OURS: Considering how in love I was with The Weight Of Feathers I basically needed this immediately. Plus Emily says it’s brilliant and Emily is brilliant SO. What can go wrong.
- CITY OF SAINTS AND THIEVES: I love thieves. Love ’em.
- INK AND BONE: And this wasn’t even on sale at the library…it was freaking free. SO YES I GOT IT. EVen though I own the hardcover. Freeeee, peoples. I had to adopt it. ★★★★☆
(Thanks to Walker Books, Pan Macmillan, Bloomsbury, and Simon & Schuster!)
- THE HATE U GIVE: Such a powerful book so worthy of the hype. ★★★★★
- QUEENS OF GEEK: This was so nerdy and awesome!! Glorious diversity (including Autism!) rep and I’m on the blog tour in May so yayyyyyyy. ★★★★☆
- THIS SIDE OF HOME: Noclue what it’s about apart from tWINS. SO YAY.
- WINTERSONG: I actually won/gifted this, but whatever. It’s BEAUTIFUL. I can’t wait to read it!
- THE STATE OF GRACE: I’m excited for this one because it features Autism! But notpleased that Goodreads rates ASD as “mental Illness”. Can you just…not. ever. again.
- CHARISMA: When the blurb says “suffers from shyness” and I straight away felt like murdering someone…yeah. No. I usually give unsolicited review-books a chance but this one is NOT HAPPENING. There is nothing wrong with being shy, garghhhhhghhh.
- WHERE YOU’LL FIND ME: It looks far too fluffy but WE’LL SEE.
- RELEASE: Ahhhh!!! Patrick Ness!!! My feels want to be broken!!!
- RED SISTER: An excellent and stabbtastic adult epic fantasy about assassin nuns!! Thanks to the author and Harper Voyager for the copy! ★★★★☆
(Okay so it’s raining insanely right now because a cyclone ate Australia. So excuse the no photo of my library lovelies.)
(all covers link to goodreads)
I’ve already read The Crown’s Fate and like 5 STARS AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL RUSSIAN PERFECTION. Also I’ll be on the blog tour in the upcoming months so keep thine eyeballs peeled.

T O P P O S T S:
I N T R I G U I N G S E A R C H E S:
(These are things people have searched to find my blog and I’m helpfully answering them.)
- “too much reading is good” — If libraries could talk, I’m 99% sure they’d say this.
- “what will happen to you when you read too much” — Intelligence. Happiness. A dark view of society. The realisation that if you sacrifice a teenage boy under the blood moon you might become an evil queen which is, obviously, #goals.
- “things to say to someone who reads too much” — Try these suggestions: Good job! I support you! I will be like you when I grow up! I’d love to gift you $1000 every month to spend on books!
- “why is the love triangle in books always two boys and one girl” — Because unfortunately the world is inherently sexist, and 2 girls competing over 1 guy would be seen as clingy, bitchy, and desperate. Whereas 2 boys + 1 girl = attractive. DUDE, I WAS JUST SERIOUS AND DEEP THERE FOR A MINUTE. HOLD YOUR SOCKS. WHAT IS THIS.
- “editor is a odd one? yes/no” — oh yes. Absolutely YES. 10/10 would say yes every time.
- “historical sites name from unfortunate word” — Let’s see, there’s the word “earth”. That’s both historical and unfortunate.
- “reaction paper red queen” — I think the paper reacted somewhat like this:
- “what happens when a bookworm falls in love” — they have to get a bigger castle because where else will they put all their new romantic partners, aka new bookshelves.
- “reading in sleep” — If you’ve figured it out??? Please let me know????
- “samples of melancholy ways to kill protagonist at the end of your story” — WELL SIT DOWN, DARLING! YOU AND I HAVE SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT!
- “what fangirl do when theyre bored” — Destroy the patriarchy, explore interdimensional time travel, and lead armies of the darkness across the barren lands.
- “how does everyone organise their tbr piles?” — Well I have a little barricade that I keep nicely between my TBR and I. You know, mostly tables and chairs and war-style sandbags, while I huddle behind in a helmet and kevlar and clutch a kitchen knife and pray to the high heavens that I live out the night since I’ve neglected reading that book for 5 years.
- “do i need scrivener” — Yes. But make sure it’s an equal relationship. Scrivener will organise your life, but what will you do for it??? Go out to dinner?? Give it Easter presents?? Sing softly to it in the moonlight?? Equality in all relationships please. Does Scrivener need YOU.
- “ya books with no boys” — I’m CRACKING UP. Also…are there any??? It’s a good question.
- “the challenges of young adult literature” — Ugh don’t get me started on the challenges. The #1 worst one is: you can’t just read one. You have to read 900. They’re like darn potato chips.
- “paper fury vulcan” — YOU GOT ME. Spock is my brother.
- “i am hunger to read books” — Same.
A collection of bookish news I find in my obsessive stalking lowkey travels across the internet:
- Maggie Stiefvater reveals the cover for her new book All The Crooked Saints! I took a bit to warm up to it…but I’m liking it better now! (But I mean, what CAN compare to The Raven Cycle.) I’M SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK, PEOPLES, I MAY SHOUT.
- This news just in: Becky Albertalli and Angie Thomas are adorable and have deep standards about oreos.
- Maggie Stiefvater (shh I love her ok) talks about what it’s like to be an author at a book signing.
- TAHEREH MAFI IS HAVING A BABY!! I’m just excited because if two authors have a baby does this mean the baby will be a book???
- A Series of Unfortunate Events has been renewed for Season 2 on Netflix! Thank goodness. THIS IS MY LIFE.
- Colton Haynes is going to be in the Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda movie! I know him from Teen Wolf so there’s a 500% chance Simon is going to get bitten by a werewolf now.
- The Aussie book Zac & Mia is going to be a movie! Look: actors.
- This article says a “super reader” will consume 80 books a year. HAHHAHA HAHAHAHHAH HAHAHHHAAHAHA.
- Here is a hilarious and PAINFULLY ACCURATE skit on how the world treats artists.
- News on the Dumplin movie! Which I had…no idea existed till now.
- A fantastic article on what a General Anxiety Disorder feels like.
- A publisher tweeted my bookstagram photo and RACHEL CAINE LOVES ME.
- Molly @ Molly’s Book Nook has 5 tips that help your bookworm life! SO HELPFUL.
- Daley @ The Invisible Moth talks about how to really understand Autism.
- Putput @ Sparking Letters talks about figuring out your blogging schedule!
- Chiara @ Delicate Eternity lists some things YA books need more of. Soooo agree.
- Shar @ Virtually Read talks about book hangovers!
- Rain @ Ivyclad Ideas talks about how writers don’t owe us anything.
- I had another smol tweet become not so smol and I’m proud.
- I’ve been the outlining QUEEN this month. I finished off another outline for my adult epic fantasy series (there’s like 4 books and I regret everything) at 26,000-words. Yes. The outline alone is a small book. Let’s not talk about how long the actual book will be. I DON’T WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT. Again with the pinterest. And I’m already out outlining the 5th and I hate myself.
- And YES I write and outline things that I don’t think have potential to be published particularly. I just do it for fun! Because the more you write = the better you get. So heck if I want to write a 5+ book adult epic fantasy series about two princes who are working their way across the continents robbing everyone, doing magic, being sassmasters, and generally failing at life — THEN I WILL. I don’t mind if it just stays on my laptop for eternity.
- I don’t know when I’ll get around to writing these. But the outlines are #neato.
- But in other writing project news…
- Here’s some of the nonsense that’s been happening in my project for April. I write completely sensible outlines.
- You know how I said I’d edit in March? HAHHAHAHAHHAHHHAHA.
- Yeah no.
- And apart form being absolutely ON FIRE with the writing-side-of-things…the rest of the month has been akin to a dead zucchini. Ughhhhhh. Basically stress and crises at every corner. Pls be over March.
- I also started watching Into The Badlands! I saw someone mention it on Twitter and thought “I shalt check that out”. And this is WEIRD because I (a) never watch shows because I’m too busy reading/writing/stabbing paper, and (b) I have like 94 shows on my to-watch list already without adding another… AND YET I STARTED IT. Season 1 only has six episodes so it’s not too much life commitment. AND IT’S SO FREAKING GOOD I CAN’T EVEN. It’s a badass dystopian story with swords and much blood. Basically 80% of the featuring characters are diverse (!!) with POC leads (!!) and on top of that it has epic clothes including this coat.
- I ran out of bookshelf space. Like…completely ran out. I know this is the bookworm’s endless sob story but WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOOOOOOOOOW???????
- My parental made a fake cheesecake and so I stole it for #bookstagram. Shh, she doesn’t know. And I object to calling it a “cheesecake” because it’s dairy-free and you just can’t fool me like that okay. It’s delicious but not a cheesecake.
I got the whole lunar chronicles, which I hope to reread soon, as well as Gemina. I really loved when Breath Becomes Air, though I’ve been struggling with not reading fiction ☹️ and I’ve had quite a busy month and generally want more time for my own writing and reading and projects but I have three more days of break which I intend to sieze so.. I haven’t been watching any shows, but I did watch three movies this week, two of which I liked and one I abhorred (the breakfast club) So that was fun. Oh, and I’m partway through writing a short play about sassy siblings so that’s fun.
(Why is the Breakfast Club so famous, btw!? I feel like there’s a million books pitched as it and I have no idea what it even is…except apparently not about cereal??😂)
YAY FOR WRITING A PLAY ABOUT SASSY SIBLINGS. I’m sure you have plenty of real-life experience for that. :’)
Eeep, I want to reread Gemina already.😂 I will probably go through them all again before Illuminae 3?!? Which I hear we’re getting a title/blurb soon!! 😱😱🎉🎉
I am so excited for The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, I’ve seen it crop up a little bit and I CAN’T WAIT! 😍
Also you’re a writing-genius-monster. I wish I could outline like you but I suck at creating plots! They just don’t come into my head! Hence, I have 4 books in my brain but none on my laptop, oops.
VICE AND VIRTUE IS LITERALLY THE ACTUAL BEST THING OF EVER.😍😍 The release date got pushed back and I got super upset because I love it so much and I want to buy a physical copy.😂
Outlining does take practise but it’s so worth it!
Yah I was so sad that Harper said it wasn’t out yet – I’ve seen an Aussie or two with US arcs and I’m a wobbly jelly about it! <3
It’s up on Edelweiss if you’re signed up for that? That’s how I read my copy. 😜
Daughter of the Pirate King! That’s my vote. That thingy never lets me vote. Your tweet is pure awesome. Who needs to edit anyway? Psssshhh. *wispers* Just write. I met my goal to finish four and start a fifth and sixth book in March. I was subpoenaed and baited on the stand. The Man’s parents came to stay for a week. New furniture arrived (finally). And now I want a cheesecake that is not a cheesecake.
We all need cheesecake, or fake-not-cheesecake. :’) CAKE IS THE MEANING OF LIFE.
(And sorry about that widget?!? It’s so weird and just works half the time.😭)
I’m glad you met your March goals! EXTRA CAKE FOR YOU.
Ahhh congrats on your tweet. And I’m glad you enjoyed Gemina, I don’t know if that was a reread for you but damn the characters are so great. Also I totally support your writing of that five book long fantasy series because 1) it sounds awesome and 2) why not??? writing is amazing and fun and psss to whatever anyone else says.
It was my first time reading Gemina actually!! I LOVED IT SO MUCH I CAN’T EVEN!! I will probably re-read it before Illuminae 3 though because #obsessed.😂
omg thank you, Emma. <3 And I agree, right?!? Like even if it's just for fun, it's good practise writing!
Took me a while to figure out what a fake cheesecake was xD back in my old agency, this one client used to bring us vegan cheesecakes (so basically the same thing I guess) and they were kind of really awesome. I’d like one right now. Although I could be fooled with a ‘real’ one lol.
Congrats on your new book idea! I’m kind of really jealous about you having so many stories in your head, cause I feel like I’d enjoy writing one as well 🙂 it’s a good outlet. I remember I used to write fan fiction when I was a teen, and that was really enjoyable. But now the stories just dried up. Or maybe just taken a back seat, cause I can’t spare any time in my priorities list to something so new and untested. But maybe one day? 🙂 maybe I’ll be a writer grandma. Cause I’ll definitely be a famous blogger by that time, right xD
Grats on the Twitter fame too! 🙂 it was s good tweet (although I missed it :o)
This might be the right moment to tell you (again) how much I enjoy your blog, so much that it’s the only one whose newsletters go into my PRIMARY mailbox, where all my work mails go. Even though you read mostly books I’d never choose or read, even despite that I always want to come back and see what you want to say 🙂
I’ll be doing a March recap soon too (tomorrow maybe), but as it’s already in the drafts, I can see that I didn’t do so well in March xD not many goals achieved at all, and my GR goal number is just chasing me and going to bite me soon, honestly 😀 I feel like taking a week off and escaping into the woods to ONLU READ in a hit somewhere, except not this month cause I’m teaching every single week and just… so much work, save meeeee xD but I hope I can read at least as much in April, even if more is probably… not going to be a thing 😀
Haha omg no this is not a vegan cheesecake at all.😂😂 It’s more like a paleo one! It’s delicious but YET NOT CHEESE. *stamps foot* 😂
It IS really fun to write! I mean, it’s hard and taxing and often has me eating a brick wall, but it’s worth it?!? And just the sheer amount of outlines I’ve churned out this year and IT’S ONLY APRIL (GHGHAGHG) is really surprising me.😳 I hope I get more time to write them?? And I hope one day you get to write too!! Just get to be a famous blogger so the world is begging for you to write a book too. 😉
AWWW, EVELINA. THAT MAKES MY DAY!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! It’s so ridiculously encouraging to know when my posts/blog is liked. 💕💕💕
Wait. How can a cheesecake be paleo? :0
Haha, working on the famous blogger part xD how DO YOU deal with idiots of the world though? I’ve had a run-in today with one, thankfully, not blogging related, but it just makes me want to bash my head against the wall T_T pettiness like “if you’re using caps you’re clearly screaming” + *googles INTERNET RULES to prove it’s legally so*. God damnit…
And I’m glad I made you happy 🙂 something to make up for the trolls of the world, I guess?
I’m quite Un-moivated lately with my posts. I ONY posted 1 last month, like what? I’m thinking of cooking up some bookish pranks, a wrap up and apoligies for my readers. I’m quit excited about REPLICA by Lauren Oliver (Which I see you’ve got as well) Though I haven’t even read Deliruim by her (which I REALLY WANT TO). I”m not doing camp this Apirl because everything is so all over the place and i haven’t prepared. But I think I might do a few poems even though I suck at those. I’m literally always coming up with new plots and book ideas but the difference is I NEVER get to write or outline them. 🙂 I”ve kinda gone of shows for no reason but hopefully I’ll be binge watching soon. Wonderful wrap-up, so many great reads I need to add loads of these to my TBR shelf. Talking of shelves, let’s cry!! I WISH I COULD DONATE SOME BOOKSHELVES TO YOU because ‘a bookshelf a day, keeps the tears away’. Actually maybe not because bookshelves = books = reading = emotions = possible tears. BUT THAT IS NOT MY POINT. AND those search terms, lol!
I haven’t read Delirium yet either actually, haha. But I have read 4 other books by her and I mostly like them. I’m just scared of how HUGE Replica is?!? Sheeeeesh.
And I understand about not doing Camp *nods* especially if you’re not prepared. I don’t write unless I’m 500% prepared or I just end up panicking.😂 I feel like outlining is super good though, for keeping the ideas fresh and alive and remembered.😂 otherwise mine would just all dash out the window 2 seconds after I thought of them.
I THINK WE NEED BOOKSHELVES THAT EXPAND MAGICALLY BECAUSE THAT WOUDL SOLVE ALL OUR PROBLEMS.
I know, but the premise sounds promising, I mean love a disease, forbidden? I WANT
I read one story of the Replica, and meh it was okay. I read GEMMA’S Story which was nice, i guess. But, I’e just started LYRA’s On replica. And I know, it’s actually realy big!
OMIGOSH – magical bookshelves!! I NEED THEM. And they are portable so you could put them in your bag and take them with you everywhere!
P.S Are you ever going to fix your comment email reply notification? Because I get the email but the link just takes me to this #respond link and not my comment?
http://paperfury.com/march-fury-recap-2017/#respond
I love the monthly stats! I wish I was able to express my opinions that concisely. I read both Pirate King and Dimple & Rishi. Both were great.
Sam @ WLABB
Eeep, I’m glad you liked Dimple & Rishi and the Pirate book! I’M SO EXCITED FOR THEM I JUST MAY SQUEE.
It looks like March has been a busy month for everyone! That’s so cool how much reading and outlining you got done! I don’t think I’ll be doing any writing this month because #unilife. Sigh. Plus I’m trying to get through my TBR list (I wrote a post with tips on this a few days ago). #Toobusytowrite that’s me! Have a fantastic April!
Eeep, good luck with uni things!! And also getting through your TBR! That’s something I’ve nearly given up on.😂😂
Ooh, I felt the same about Frostblood and This Is about Our Story! It’s such an underrated thriller (even though the romance was so boring and unnecessary, I agree). The Hate U Give was absolutely brilliant, and I’m glad to see you loved Vice and Virtue; I really can’t wait for that one to come out! Sucks to see you didn’t like Frost; I loved that one! But I can see why some wouldn’t really like it!
I chose Release just for fact that’s it’s not coming out in the U.S. until September, I think, and I’m way too excited for it. 😂
I wish they’d just skipped the romance in This Is Our Story hahah, although I DID like the twist about it. But then half the time I’m okay if they skip romance in most books.😂 I’m such an unromantic Vulcan. AFJdklsad Vice & Virtue is EVERYTHING and honestly one of my top reads of this year. <3
Eeeep, I didn't realise the release dates for Release (omg that's weird to type out😂) are so different! I'm pretty sure it comes out in May in Australia?
I’m doing nano this month! I wrote roughly 4000 words last nano, so I’m aiming to add 5000/6000 words this month. I’m a new writer. 😛 (IT’S HARDER THAN I THOUGHT!!)
oooh, YES!! my mom actually BOUGHT A BOOK FOR ME BECAUSE I WANTED IT. (its paperback and only $3 but shhhh) It was the third book in a really funny trilogy, the first one is called a hero’s guide to saving your kingdom. it’s oh-so-funny. the author likes spoilers. 😛
why, yes again! I’m super excited about star wars: Rebels and ninjago! *hops around humming ninjago theme song*
(and yes, I’m answering these questions in random order. XD )
Most crazily, ~Olive
Good luck, Olive!! Every word counts! And it honestly gets easier the more you write. 😉
Ooh, that’s awesome that your mum brought you a book! CONGRATS.🎉🎉
I’m doing Camp Nano in April! I mean, TECHNICALLY I started writing my story two days before, but still! XD
Only 80?!? If I have super reader status, then God knows what you have. :’)
If you are excited about All the Crooked Saints (I AM TOO!!) then do NOT look at the Goodreads page. I went to add it to my TBR the other day and found out that people are delibrately dragging the rating down. It doesn’t even come out until October! I can’t decide whether I should write a post about it or AVOID THE DRAMA. My life policy is ‘avoid the drama’, but I am SO tempted. I am probably going to write the post. And regret it.
The only chance of finding a YA book without boys is to find one set in an all-girls school, and even then, brothers, fathers, friends, boyfriends… It’d be a bit odd for a character to have no boys whatsoever in their life.
I come up with new story ideas all the time. I also revamp old ones. I’m not a great writer of outlines though…
My rant got a shout-out?! Yay! Thanks, Cait! Glad you liked it! XD
Hahaha, I know right?! That article was way underestimating us.😂😂 I average around 200 a year. AND OMG GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BOOK!! AND CAMP!! YAYYY!!!
And omg I’m so freaking mad about the Goodreads page. I’m actually disgusted because I saw other AUTHORS bagging her out on twitter and I think that’s shameful when (a) no one has read it, (b) they have no proof she “didn’t have sensitivity readers”, and (c) everyone was hating on her for not writing POC characters and now that she is they hate her more??? I can’t even sometimes. I don’t believe books should be “called out” to be problematic from a BLURB. Maggie Stiefvater probably didn’t even write the blurb. Anyway. I won’t rant too much, sorry!😂 I just know this is a book I’m excited about and I’m going to KEEP being excited about, even if I get hate for it.
Oh, rant away. I was mad too. 🙁 But I’m still excited! XD
OMG YOU MENTIONED MY SMOL POST! It was quite a good post if I say so myself *ahem* YOU NICE BEAN.
Also good luck with the book drafting! I am with you on the ‘writing is good even if it never sees the light of day’ . I don’t really want to get published, but I enjoy writing and feeling smart and it’s such a useful skill for blogging or university/school (hahahaha I’m such a nerd) or just being able to express your ideas.
I’m not watching any shows. I like the idea, and I’ve started a lot (Once Upon a Time, Sherlock, and Gilmore Girls=a lot for me) but I’m just kind of busy and also I don’t really know how to make time for it and I can’t watch stuff alone because I feel lazy my fav thing about movies is talking (I’m that annoying person) and jlk;akl;dsakl; ;kl NO SHOWS FOR YOU SHAR YOU PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING. (this is my favourite insult. #funfactaboutshar)
YOU ARE MOST WELCOME. Thank you for writing such excellent posts all the time.🎉🎉 *gifts you a cake*
And sometimes it’s just really freeing to write for yourself right?! Like I mean, I secretly hope everything I ever write gets published and I become awesome and famous. *flips hair* But I’m also just happy to have these stories for ME and just improve my writingness. <3
I do get that with the being too busy to watch shows. My liiiife too. I'm trying to watch a movie right now and it's like taking me forever because I only watch like 20mins at a time.😭😂
So, have you ever done a post on how to use Scrivener? I know there are boatloads of tutorials on the internet for it, but I always find it interesting to see how different people use it and why they use it the way they do. I bet you have all manner of good advice for Scrivening, or whatever the act of using Scrivener is called.
I have done this post here on why I love Scrivener! If that’s helpful! I probably don’t use all its features but I’m REALLY happy with what I do, and it’s really fun and I think it’s easy to use. 🎉🎉 😜
Your wrap-ups are always so entertaining. I laughed at the cheesecake picture. How can cheesecake be dairy-free? Cheese is diary! I hope you have a great April.
Ha! Amusing typo in my comment . . . This is why proofreading is necessary . . .
Ahh I’m so glad you like my wrap ups!! Honestly that makes me so relieved haha, because I’m always scared they’re too long!😂 But I knooooow. The “cheesecake” is an impostor, let’s be real here.😂
(Sorry, but this will be a lot of shouting…)
READ DAUGHTER OF THE PIRATE KING AND TURN YOUR BED INTO A PIRATE SHIP FOR THE PHOTO SHOOT FOR THE REVIEW.
READ WINTERSONG AND TURN YOUR ROOM INTO A LABYRINTH FOR THE REVIEW PHOTO SHOOT.
YES, YES, YES, PLEASE, PLEASE PRINT OUT SOME OF THOSE GLORIOUS, FANTASTIC NOVELS OF YOURS.
AND THEN YOU GO AND MENTION ME IN YOUR BLOGGERS’ HIGHLIGHTS. I CANNOT….DAMN IT, CAIT, REMEMBER I HAVE VULCAN BLOOD, TOO. (Seriously crying on the inside in pure shock and joy.)
And I will stop shouting now.
(Never be sorry for all caps, my friend, I SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF ALL CAPS.)
And omg I’m so ridiculously excited for a pirate book I can’t even.😂😂 And I’M 100% IN FAVOUR OF YOUR DECORATING SUGGESTIONS. THIS WILL HAPPEN FOR SURE.
*pats shoulder* There there, Daley, breeeeathe. ALSO CAN I SAY I’M SMILING SO MUCH RIGHT NOW.😂😂
Ah, so many good books in one post, like what do I flail about first?
Oh, I know, how about OMG YOU READ AND LOVED THE GENTLEMAN’s GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE I AM SO HAPPY YOU LOVED IT AND NOW I’M EVEN MORE EXCITED TO READ IT!!!
Ahem. Sorry about that. Also, yay for Daughter of the Pirate King and Queens of Geek and When Dimple Met Rishi!
AND OMG YOU READ AND LOVED THE CROWN’S FATE AND LOVED IT YAAY (sorry, looks like I really have no chill)
Also, good luck with Camp NaNoWriMo and congrast on your twitter fame 😉 Also, haha, those searches and your outlines are amazing <3
I didn't acquire any new books recently because I put myself on a book-buying ban in March to catch up on my TBR… only to fall into a reading slump and only read like 3 books. So hey, that went well! 🙂
I didn't know about Into The Badlands but it looks awesome so I must check it out!
YES YES THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE IS PROBABLY MY FAVOURITE BOOK OF THE YEAR (apart from A Conjuring Of Light🎉) SO OMG I HOPE YOU LOVE IT WHEN YOU GET TO READ IT!! And afjdsklad the Crown’s Fate was perfect. ❤️ I was a bit worried it wouldn’t live up to the first book but noooo it was just gorgeous and I couldn’t stop read it.
Hehe, thank you!! 😱😊 Still flailing over how that tweet went so wild!!
And good luck for your ban. 😉 I should probably put myself on a library ban but…yet no.😂😂
So many amazing books! I’m so excited for THUG and Gentleman’s Guide. I also love the whole picture-flip-to-show-review thingy, it’s amazing! <33 Goodluck with NaNoWriMo! I didn't read much on March, so I didn't buy any books. In exchange, I've been buying a lot of food, which is why I've gained a bit last month xD I watched 2 K-dramas last month, and I finally got the urged to continue my SPN marathon! Hopefully I could finish 2 or more seasons this time! 😀
Oh thank you!! I really enjoy putting the flippy mini-review thingies up! I think it’s a fun way to summarise feels right?!? And omg good on you for being restrained with buying. I 100% support buying lots of food however. Food is everything.
Oh oh I hope you like SPN! I’m behind on the current season but omg I love that show.
Those searches, XD
A YA book with no boys?
Hmm
Someone should do that, make it be like these sisters who live in a castle and their romantic interests are talking bookshelves.
That’d be cool.
I know right?! I just did read a book that was like 90% girls and no boys were really crucial to the plot! But it was an adult fantasy.😂
o.0 SO MANY BOOKSSSSSS. I thought I hadn’t read that much this [past] month, but then noticed that I’m at 30 so far this year, so it’s actually not that bad. 😀 😀
lollol @those searches. honestly what are people thinking sometimes. “Let me search “how to eat cake” and hopefully go across a book blog”???
AHh that’s amazing that your reading is doing so well!! 🎉🎉
I want to know how those searches even lead to my blog. 😂😂 SO bizarre!!
AGH WHY DO YOUR NOVELS SOUND SO AMAZING??? And wow you truly are an outlining queen. Omg yeeeeees two authors + a baby on the way = NEW BOOK OMG. And how fast do you read??? Can I be you???
BECAUSE I’M AMAZING AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AMAZINGNESS COLLIDES. #humble
You should read Wing Jones ASAP! It’s so amazing that I read it twice in a row and I love it so much and now I’m trying to make everyone else read it. And I’m really happy you loved A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue so much! I’m really excited for it and whenever I hear good things about it I just get more impatient.
Omg that’s so good to hear!! I’ve only heard like a few random things about it but I’m sO glad it’s excellent!! EVERYTHING ABOUT A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE WAS PERFECT.😍😍😍 I’m so ridiculously in love with it haha.
My husband is watching Badlands, but I can’t even think about it – it looks soooo violent. AND GO YOU ON BEING TWITTER FAMOUS. Haha, 2k retweets is awesome. The Beauty and the Beast library causes a LOT of emotions.
I just read The Daughter of the Pirate King, not my favorite book of all time, but it’s good fun.
Hahha, it is pretty violent. 😂 Although not as bad as Game of Thrones.
Oh and I’m glad the pirate book is fun!! I need some fun books in my life.😂
I’ve been reading a bunch of books by John Boyne (who is the author of The Boy In the Striped Pajamas, which you should avoid at all costs because IT IS A TRAGIC, HISTORICALLY ACCURATE BOOK THAT RIPPED MY HEART OUT), and I am very excited to see if he delivers more heartbreak. Yes please.
I can’t wait for Season 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events because that means all the best parts are coming up and more Count Olaf shenanigans that are sure to mean Very Fun Disguises (hehe, see what I did there. I capitalized it in case you missed it).
OH I LOVE JOHN BOYNE! And by “love” I mean, I’ve been emotionally scarred by him so ya thanks, Mr. Boyne. I didn’t want happiness anyway.
ajfdkslad ASOUE was so perfect and I’m so excited for the next season. 😍😍
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.
Um … what was I intending to comment about, again? Your post was so amazingly long that I’m not even sure where to start. I loved it. Goshdammit, Cait, you’re just too awesome for my tiny brain to comprehend.
Firstly, I would like to announce that Shiloh sounds like a very adorable bean. Yes please with him not thinking things through and also shooting at people. (Although – they are in a library. Are the books ok, Cait? Did any of them suffer a gunshot wound? PLEASE TELL ME THEY SURVIVED! MY HEART CAN’T TAKE IT!)
I always appreciate your funny search terms, too. And your serious point was an incredibly good one and I can’t believe I’ve never thought of that before. Thank you. If you require payment for such an amazing observation, I can offer counselling to help you get over your lack of shelf space.
Thanks for making me smile, as always.
haha, sorry about that!😂😂 I do make these posts SO LONG. My bad!
OMG THANK YOU THOUGH ABOUT SHILOH HE IS PRECIOUS. He’s probably one of the most precious characters I’ve ever written. <3 I lurve him so. ANd yes books get damaged by the villains and it was very traumatic to write.
oh yes. Will accept counselling on shelf space issues. As long as it doesn't make me get rid of books.😭😭
Okay I just read “Mask of Shadows” and I’m sooooooo interested in seeing what you think of it.
Also, love the update on all the book you’ve gotten this month. HOW DID YOU JUST BARELY RUN OUT OF BOOKSHELF SPACE?!?!?! I mean, if you’re getting this many books on a fairly regular basis, how have you not yet drowned in a sea of books? Do you have a separate home next-door for all your books? Do you regularly donate old books to your local library? Do you lend them to friends and just never get them back? I’m so impressed/confused.
What did you think of it?!? I’m keen to know more thoughts too.😂
Haha, no I just am VERY good at stacking my shelves.😂 And the top of my shelves. And I literally just stole my sister’s shelves/desk because she left home so that helped for a little while?! And my main bookshelf is double stacked.😂
Great post. I too have filled way too many book cases, so I am now stacking them on the floor. LOL
The floor works, though right?!? We do what we must.😂
YOUR WRAP UPS ARE GOAL CAIT! I adore the formatting and catching up with any missed posts so thank you for this! And congrats on going viral girl! Also I ran out bookshelf space at the beginning of this year but I still keep hauling so #oops!
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH, ANISHA, THIS LITERALLY MAKES MY DAY. <3 You're so encouraging. *tackle hugs*
And I'm the SAME. I have more books than I know what to do with but I just love collecting them. <3
So much goodness!! Congrats on being Twitter famous!! Best tweet ever!! And omg you read so many books this month. Scratch that, you read so many books every month! 🙂 I definitely want to read This Is Our Story!
~Sara
Ahhh, thank you, Sara!!😂 I was so ridiculously proud of that tweet omg.
So I voted for the Pirate book just because I might want to read it as well and need opinions on it first 😀
Running out of bookshelf space would suuuck!! But I am sure you find a solution 😀 I am about to transform one of the rooms in our house into a library for myself, yay! My partner has his man cave so it’s just fair I’ll get my library! 😉
Happy reading in April!!
AND PIRATES, THO, AMIRITE?!? Pirates are glorious. 😍 I can basically count the pirate books I’ve read on one hand and that is not good. *shakes head sadly* I need mooooooore.
Omg transforming a whole room into a library sounds DIVINE.😍
Gah, I’m so jealous of all these books you have – mostly the ones that aren’t out yet! I bought a copy of The Hate U Give but I need to find time to read it. So many books!!!
-Lauren
Yesss, so many books!! It’s glorious and terrifying because I need more time to read them all.😂
YOU OUTLINE BOOKS FOR NO REASON. I LOVE YOU.
Seriously, I have journals full of world building, character sketches, and in depth outlines and when I get to the end I’m like, “Yep, I’m good, move on.” Like, unless that outline waves a flag & does a cha-cha and straight up says, “Yo, turn me into a proper book,” I don’t bother. So it’s nice to know I’m not the only person who just outlines for fun. 🙂
THANK YOU, KAT. IT IS MOST FUN AND I ENJOY MY OUTLINES SO IMMENSELY. And like I will write them one day!! Hopefully before I’m 84. But it’s really fun just to develop books and worlds, right?!? :’)
Ooh, I’ve been wondering whether or not to read Daughter of the Pirate King! I’ve heard it’s a lot like POTC, which I adore, but I’m also hesitant as to whether or not it’s unique. It seems like the entire plot was created around the “special snowflake female MC” trope, which I’m not a fan of. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts!
Ahhhh……Wintersong. I won’t deny that S. Jae-Jones is an extraordinarily talented writer, but I still wanted to throw Liesl off a cliff every two seconds. The author tried far too hard to make her a relatable, average heroine; every page, she whined about how “boring” and “plain” and “average” she looked. Her character development was also entirely circular; when it did eventually break the circle at the end of the story, it didn’t feel like it because she just permanently held onto some development she’d had and then lost about five times before. Furthermore, she’s dumb as frick – she can control the goblins just by saying “I wish”, but she never does and then gets upset when they don’t follow her orders?!? And she also totally forgets about the ONE PERSON who could help her out of her imprisonment. I just…..*slams head against wall* I hope you enjoy Wintersong more than I did, lmao.
WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI LOOKS SO GOOD, AHHH. Please tell me your thoughts!! It’s another one I’m unsure on.
Seeing your thoughts on Bone Gap again makes me want to read it even more!! I think some of my favorite reads this month were Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, Lace Bone Beast by N.L. Shompole, and Mark of the Plague by Kevin Sands. Tears of the Giraffe by Alexander McCall Smith and Trick by Natalia Jaster were some disappointments :/ In April, I’m pretty excited to finally get to read Resistance by Jaye L. Knight. I’m also planning on reading A Good American by Alex George, The Thief Who Pulled on Trouble’s Braids by Michael McClung, and The Thief by Stephanie Landsem.
I just came up with another new book idea………what is my life. So what if there’s a little girl who’s a princess, right, and she’s hidden away and never told of her lineage……and then she gets killed, and a huge civil war starts, and the book is about the fates of the assassins who killed her and how they’re swept up in the civil war. I wrote the opening scene, but beyond that I’m clueless. I might start plotting it after I finish my steampunk/fairyland mashup standalone.
Oh no!! Best of luck finding new bookshelf space :/
Ellie | On the Other Side of Reality
I’ve heard she’s the female Jack Sparrow too! Which excites me buuuut you’re totally right. Like I don’t want it to just copy POCB because that’d be super annoying. I’m excited though. No one seems to write pirate stories?! 😂😂
OMG NO LIESL SOUNDS AWFUL AGHHGH. I might procrastinate that one a bit then.😂 I Really hate whiny characters who hate being “average” particularly when it just promotes the stereotypes that beauty can only look one way.
I’ve heard Dimple & Rishi is super funny!! SO I’M READY FOR THAT.
Omgg you read Les Mis?! CONGRATS ON TACKLING THAT BEAST! *gives you cake for that alone* And I’ve not heard of any of your other reads but I hope they are as awesome as they sound!!
Dude. That story. THAT STORY. That sounds amazing and 100% the kind of thing I would snabble up. 😍😍
“More books than sense” I haven never seen a phrase that described me more hahaha
You have so many massive writing projects going on! Good luck with it all this month.
Also how have I not heard of Into Badlands??? I think I need it in my life.
We can add onto it “more books than sense or cents” too because ACCURACY.😂
Ahhh thank you!!! The book I did for NaNo was a standalone, thank goodness, but I don’t even know WHEN I’ll tackle this beast of an epic fantasy series. I’m excited though?! But also fjdsklfad ahhhhh.
And YES you need Into The Badlands. Everyone does. It is so epic.😍
If it’s not dairy what is it? A soy cake? I hated replacements for dairy, it’s just not the same. I will try it once though, but not happily. Oh, I am good! I won two giveaways in March. I won Song Rising by Samantha Shannon and Vault of Dreams, it medieval I think. I read a bunch too, obviously. I have been still planning my Little Prince retelling, inspiration is coming slowly. But it’s there! I might start actually writing that near the end of the month. I am editing and continuing my November 2016 Nano this April. It’s… tedious. I want my Little Prince retelling to be the first actual writing piece I share though, probably not publicly but I might share it. Also I love your recaps, they are my favorite posts of yours😃. I am also on Spring break for the rest of this week! Yay! I have so much time! I want to start Rules of the Endgame and finish this manga series I’ve been reading, this month.
Haha, I know right?! This one is…actually I have no idea. But not soy. I think kind of like jelly because it has a very jelly texture. Don’t get me wrong IT IS DELICIOUS but it’s not cheese.😂
OMG THAT’S SO COOL YOU WON SOME GIVEAWAYS!! *cheers for you* I hope the Little Prince plannign goes nicely too. And I’m bowing to you editing here because that’s such a responsible thing to do and I 100% suck at being a responsible writer.😂
afjdkslad I’m SO glad you like my recaps. <3 I love writing them but I always get worried about how long they are.😂
Ah so many books haha. I am about half way through Charisma and it’s not fantastic, but I am not loving it. I am in the middle at the moment and seeing where it takes me. I have so much love for THUG though – I don’t think I can love this book enough.
Thanks for the post
Eep, I’m glad Charisma isn’t horrible then!😂 I hated Nerve though so I honestly think this might be a book I don’t even bother trying. 🙈🙊
THUG IS SUCH A GOOD BOOK AND DESERVES ALL THE LOVE AND MORE.
Who even needs sense when you have books, Cait? The story you are working on sounds amazing. I MUST READ IT.
This is so so true. You are the pinnacle of wisdom honestly.
AND OMG THANK YOU. THAT’S SO ENCOURAGING. 💕💕
I need to read that book you’re writing!!! Books, magic and probably cake , it sounds really gooood! 😍 I seriously hope you will be able to publish one of your writings! And so glad you liked Gemina, can’t wait for third part of The Illuminae Files! I am also really excited about Strange the Dreamer, I plan to buy and read it very soon.
OMG THANK YOU KIND SOUL. 💕💕It turned out to be SUCH a fun book to write and I’m pretty in love with it. Hopefully someday I’ll be published?!? *crosses fingers*
I heard they were releasing the Illuminae #3 title tomorrow!!😱😱😱
A free copy of Ink & Bone?! Amazing. And yes, I can totally see WHY you had to take it home. I often have that feeling when I see my favorite books on the shelves a used bookstores. Why? WHY? Is this book on the shelf? Does not everyone see its awesomeness?! Fortunately I restrain myself because…money and space (I have to share space with my husband and two cats). 🙂
I did get approved for Ash & Quill last week. I hope to dive in head first and flail all over it today.
I’m glad you understand. 😂 I mean, later on I thought “Maaaybe I should’ve left it for someone else” but like I’m kind of glad I DID take it because my library just got completely flooded. 😳😳 So I probably saved its life.
I hope you love Ash & Quill!! I intend to re-read I&B soon and then binge the whole trilogy.
Oh Cait, I always love reading your recap posts 🙂
MY OUTLINE FOR THIS MONTH IS 20K WORDS! Like, OMG, I’ve never had such a long outline in my LIFE! And I’ve already written over 10k words this month (all yesterday) so it seems to be working well for me so far! Wooo hoooo! 😀
Also, I LOVE your pinterest boards — they totally make me want to read your book(s)! And I would totally read your epic fantasy saga. It sounds very fun 😀
You get the most interesting search terms, lol — “samples of melancholy ways to kill protagonist at the end of your story” is my favorite from this month 🙂
You should totally do a post (if you haven’t already) on how you organize stuff in scrivener! The screenshot you have looks like you use it pretty differently from what I’ve done, and I’m thinking I might try to re-think my system in the near future. Would be curious to see how you use it 🙂
How does one make a dairy-free “cheesecake?” I’m really struggling to wrap my head around that one …
Anywhoo, have a good April! And happy writing 🙂
THIS MAKES MY DAY THANK YOU. <3 I love writing them.😂😂 Even if I end up being completely random hahah.
OMgg 20K?!? THAT'S AMAZING! My longest outline ever is 30K but I'm pretty sure I'll split that into two books. And my Camp NaNo outline was 16K but ended up as a 100K book? So I feel like that's a good amount.😂 And I'm so glad you're having a good writing run!! YAS. Chocolate for you!!
My way of organising on Scrivener is completely random though?!😂 I'm not sure it'd be any use to anyone except to realise how strange I am haha. Have you done a post on it? I'd love to see how you do it too!!
IT'S NOT A CHEESECAKE. THIS IS WHAT I'M TRYING TO CONVINCE MY MOTHER. 😭😂 It's more like jelly tbh??? But just because you bake something in a cheesecake tin does NOT make it a cheesecake. / rant 😜😉
I get plot bunny infestations way too often. They like clumping together in trilogies, too… There haven’t been too many lately, though; it must not be breeding season.
If you call it “cheezecake”, like Daiya does, then it’s all good. Or you could call it Gary cake… (Probably an obscure joke if you’re not vegan…)
Bahah not “breeding season”.😂😂 I honestly never catch a break from my ideas! And I’m a bit worried about this epic fantasy series because I thought it’d stop at 5 books and I’d just kill all the characters and BE DONE. But yet no.😂
I’m not a vegan, haha, but I would rather call it Gary than a “cheesecake”. I keep having this argument with my mum and she’s like “let’s make the dairy-free cheese cake!” and I’m like “IT CAN’T BE A CHEESE CAKE IF IT’S DAIRY FREE OMGGGGG”. Lucky it’s so delicious.😂
I’M FINE THANKS FOR ASKING. What I mean when I say that is I’m really screaming because March is already over and that means FINALS ARE COMING. March was meh but April is going to be a whole new demon. PREPARE FOR MAYBE TWICE A WEEK MELT DOWNS INSTEAD OF ONCE A WEEK. Hahah… HAHAHAH. (The laughter signifies the fear)
As far as a book I got this month that I’m way too excited about is Strange The Dreamer. I somehow managed to get an arc two days before it was released and then bought a finished edition because holy cucumbers is that cover HOT. It’s so gorgeous, and I am already dead. The only thing I’ll be writing this month is my will because as I mentioned above, FINALS ARE COMING.
I have new book ideas on a daily basis but they usually just rot away inside my already cramped brain. Maybe once April is over I will be able to get back to it!
No time for epic shows. I have no time and it’s SAD.
LOTS OF SCREAMING IF FINALES ARE COMING.😱😱😱 OMGGG GOOD LUCK THOUGH!! Stockpile chocolate??? I hope you survive. *pets your shoulder and gives you cake*
Ah!! Strange the Dreamer!! I actually have ordered the audiobook so I’m VERY excited about that. 😍 I heard it was quite slow so audios help ME slow down and enjoy it then, haha. And isn’t that cover gorgeous though?!? I love the UK one.
Oh my gosh this I’d so much 😂😂 I did like nothing in comparison 😂 I read some books and pretended to outline and that’s about it 💩 but I always love to read your search results hahaha got me cracking up! AND I GOT STRANGE THE DREAMER AND IT IS MONSTROUS BUT I AM #EXCITE
STRANGE THE DREAMER LOOKS SO GOOD. Read it first and tell me if it’s excellent. Beeeeee my guinea pig, Esther. 😉 😂 And hey pretending to outline still is some sort of progress! I build a pinterest board and then say it’s “work” so. We can be terrible together.😂
Hahaha yay for pretendIng! Yesterday I started drawing a map instead of outlining. That counts….right?
I WILL READ STRANGE THE DREAMER
NEXT MONTH
I think.
It takes me like twice as long to read a book 😂 and it’s so huge. BUT PRETTYYYYY
Sometimes I wonder if I should feel bad commenting on your posts when there’s already 800 comments for you to possibly reply to, buuuutttt then I comment anyways. So sorry, but not sorry? I’m sure you know the love’s there.
Congratulations on going viral on Twitter! I have to be honest and say I’m not surprised. I feel like your Twitter is FULL of cute and fun little bits about books and writing. I honestly have no idea how you come up with them all. I just must be naturally unfunny. Mine are always limited to typical Facebook status updates like: “Hey, I stepped in a pile of poo. It stank.” Yup.
I voted for Daughter of the Pirate King. Because pirate king. That’s all I needed to see to be interested.
I LOVE your mini reviews that pop up from holding the mouse over book covers. You’re so clever! I would have a horrible time if I ever tried to do something similar though because I’m such a rambler. The cover would have to take up the whole screen to fit my mini review behind it…
That’s weird about the love triangle always being two boys one girl (one of your search terms). I’ve actually never thought about it but no book automatically jumps to my mind in which that’s not the case. I guess because I primarily read books with female MCs? They should change that though because during high school I was in a love triangle involving one boy and two girls. And I wasn’t the one in charge of choosing (the boy was). Where’s my representation in YA?
One of these days I’ll make your blogger link list even though my blog barely has anything to do with books and writing. ONE OF THESE DAYS! (And then will popularity befall me? Surely everyone you speak of gets covered in glitter and admired by all?)
A book I recently acquired that I’m really excited about? Geesh Cait, I don’t acquire any books anymore because I’m trying to get my TBR read before I move to London next year! But out of all the books sitting on my shelves I’d say I’m most excited to read A Darker Shade of Magic. It’s hard not to be so curious about it after seeing everyone hyped up about it (plus then if I am dying for more I can just binge the rest of the series right away without waiting!)
OMG NO PLEASE DON’T FEEL BAD ABOUT COMMENTING. I LOVE CHATTING TO YOU!!! ❤️❤️ You’re so amazing and lovely!!!
And omg thank you about the twitter!! 😂😂 I’m surprised, haha. My tweets are so random though. (Although lately I’ve had several people who are taking all my tweets seriously and I just ??? how can you be that deluded ??? 😂😂)
PIRATES THO. I mean, I don’t even know the plot. I just saw “pirates” and my childhood career choice reignited.
And haha, the mini-reviews take a LOT of editing. But tbh they’re just me say “liked it!” or “this is dumb” so I’m not that eloquent there.😂
There you go, Asti. You need to write that book. :’)
OMG I WILL DEFINITELY LINK TO YOU NEXT MONTH!😂Honestly I’m so bad at remembering to save links. I loved your Illuminae reviews so much btw. 😉
Oh but you must read ADSOM if you’re moving to London. That should be like required reading, in case you accidentally move to a London that is magical and you must smite evil. Just sayin’.
You should definitely read When Dimple Met Rishi next, and then Daughter of the Pirate King 😀 Dimple is so adorable and witty and hilarious, I think you’ll love it 🙂 Also, those random blog searches crack me up.. “reading in sleep” .. XD I die lolol.
Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
I SHALL BECAUSE I TRUST YOU.❤️ Also you had me at “witty and hilarious” because those are basically the only things I live for in books. 😂
(Why can’t we read in our sleep tho?? It would so help the TBR issues.😂)
When that article came out about All the Crooked Saints I yelped. I was in public. People stared.
And that article about anxiety was great! She’s much more articulate about it then I could ever be; I mostly just say it feels like my brain is whispering that I’m in danger 24/7, but she puts it in a way more people are likely to understand.
BUT IT WAS WORTH IT BECAUSE CROOKED SAINTS AMIRITE.😍😍
And yessss, I loved that anxiety article. <3 I love how there are people who can actually put what it's like into words because I just want to throw up my arms and screech a little to the sky and then ask people to understand. 😭😭
I just bought Wintersong and I’m super excited to give it a try! I hope it’ll live up to the hype I’ve read…maybe I’ll wait to hear your thoughts first. 😉
Also, I am ALSO PUMPED for All the Crooked Saints! Sounds v different from other things Maggie’s written, but I mean, c’mon. It’s Maggie. It’s going to be amaze.
Eeep, I hope we both enjoy Wintersong then!! I don’t even know when I’ll get around to reading it though. Aghhh, my TBR is OUT OF CONTROL.😭 And omg I agree about Maggie Stiefvater’s new book. ❤️ I’ve rated all her books 5 stars so like I have zero worries about this one.
Why does it feel like I always come to your blog after bloody ages? Well, here I am. I’m soooo excited about reading All I Cannot See and Holding the Universe (and I’m ready for the tears!!). Also I’ve written a very short story in text message form AND I’M ACTUALLY SO EXCITED TO SHARE IT. It’s currently being stabbed at by my friends but once I get some feedback I’ll let you know because I actually do adore it and want to make it better so much.
I come up with new book ideas quite a lot. But I usually leave them as sentences and don’t attempt outlining them ever. But you do you Cait, if you can outline 3 books a month keep on slaying the game.
AND DUDE. Can we please read your April project?? Pleease?? It sounds absolutely hilarious! And also Shiloh is an excellent name. Do you know anymore excellent names??
ALSO I HAVE NO WIFI CURRENTLY and am only using data for non-streaming stuff. And so. I MISS WATCHING STUFF SO MUCH. Luckily the new TV can connect to the internet so guess who will be binge-watching all the shows ever very, very soon?
AHHH I’M ALWAYS EXCITED WHEN YOU STOP BY. <3 *gives you welcome back cake* And omg Holding Up the Universe is glorious although NOT as life damaging as All The Bright Places.😂 Which is nice of it. And eeep, a story all done in text messages?! That sounds super unique and also super awesome. I also like how you refer to critiquing at "stabbed at by my friends". 😂 That is actual perfection.
THANK YOU. Outlining them completely helps me not be so anxious about losing them. 😂
AHHH YOU'RE SO KIND!! So I finished my Camp project! I don't know if I'll do a snippets post, but I'll definitely put some snippets in my April recap. It was so fun and Shiloh is like my fajdsklad darling precious cinnamon child. (I am such a wild collector of names.😍)
I'M SAD THAT YOU HAVE NO WIFI. THAT SOUNDS TERRIBLE. MORE CUPCAKES OF CONSOLATION FOR YOU.
OMG TAHEREH’S BABY I AM SO EXCITEDDDDD. Lol, 80 books as a super reader though. What does that make you?? I AM ALSO REALLY EXCITED FOR YOU TO READ WHEN THE MOON WAS OURS. We can swap and I’ll read The Weight of Feathers 😉
I KNOW RIGHT?!😂 They are like the Super Power Author Couple of YA books anyway so omg I’m so glad they shall give birth to a child and hopefully call it Book. I’m going to be sad if it doesn’t have a literary name.😂
YES LET’S SWAP WHAT A GOOD IDEA. I’LL SADDLE UP MY DRAGONS AND COME VISIT YOu. (And omg did you see she has like two more books coming out soon?!? Both sound so fantastic?!?? fjakdlfsda)
Ahh your outlines GOD. Howwww do you do this??? Also, I AM SO EXCITE for The Crown’s Fate (Nikolai!! *heart eyes*), The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and When Dimple Met Rishi! <——- Read THIS ONE FIRST I COMMAND YOU. (also, remember me when you get famous cuz of your Twitter. *wipes tears*)
I HEED YOUR COMMANDS!! I’ll read Dimple & Rishi really soon!! 🎉😂😜 ANd yes I’ll remember all the mere mortals in my fame *waves vaguely to the commoners* 😂😜
I bought The Night Circus and Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the Universe…I’M EXCITED ABOUT BOTH!!! I’m also writing but kinda in a slump..could write only one chapter this week :/ New book ideas? I come up with them EVERYDAY! I wish I had an author who I could threaten into writing all my books 😛
Awesome post Cait! SUCH AN AWESOME BOOK HAUL!! I’m so excited for you and also a little jealous 😛 I’m gonna zap myself to your house and settle in front of your bookshelves and read read and read. 😀 Don’t be surprised if you find a smol dark haired girl in front of your shelves tomorrow 😛
Eeee, I LOVE Ari & Dante!! And I’ve been yelled at to read Night Circus like 98938 times. So I should someday.😂😂 I really hope you like it! And omg yes sometimes I want to kidnap a fantastic author to write my idea so they’ll actually be as good on paper as they are in my head.😂
I WILL FEED YOU CAKE WHILE YOU LIVE IN MY SHELVES. AREN’T I NICE.
I know it must pain you to do this, but to save room on your shelf, get rid of books you didn’t like. GAH. I KNOW. I CAN’T GET RID OF BOOKS EITHER. BUT I GOTTA SAVE ROOM.
WHAT IS THIS “GET RID OF BOOKS” CONCEPT YOU SPEAK OF??? I UNDERSTAND NOT.
Your outlines are hilarious! I’m always hoping that you’ll get published because then we’d be able to read all of your books of ever (life goal honestly) You are amazing as always 😉 <3
Eeeep, THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY. THANK YOU LISSA. 💕💕 *gives you cake*
*eagerly takes the cake* Why thank you 😉 I’m glad. I will forever be impressed with everything you do tbh 💕
Wow! Congrats on being Twitter famous! XD Also how did you outline THREE books this month??! Do you have secret writing super powers??
I just got sent an ARC of Geekerella, and I’m very excited to read it! This April will be the month I FINALLY finish Gearbound. I’m also planning to write a fanfic, because a) I’m fandom trash and b) writing fanfic is fun.
Unfortunately I come up with tons of book ideas….and um….they never get written. It’s very sad.
I’m in the middle of watching Merlin and Supernatural.
I don’t even know!! This year has just been INSANE for all the books I’ve been thinking up. 😱 Clearly I need to spend less time thinking hhaha.
Eeeep, I hope you do finish Gearbound!! AND YAS FANDOM TRASH IS THE GOOD LIFE.
Supernatural is actually my favourite thing…although it stresses me out so much because I don’t want the boys to die permanently.😭😂
AHH! I love this post Cait! How do you write such amazing blog posts? <3
Megan @ http://wanderingsofabookbird.blogspot.co.uk/
Aww, thank you!!😂
Oh man! You really got it going on in March! I seriously need to read The Hate U Give already!!!
You totally do! It’s an excellent book and so inspiring. 😊
Fangirls are never bored! Random internet searcher makes no sense! We have too much the feels, gifs, fics, and vids to be bored dammit!!!!! 😉
EXACTLY!! BOREDOM IS IMPOSSIBLE!! There is always another fandom to try out too.😂
I want to read When the Moon Was Ours, so you should read it now. Now. I didn’t know Goodreads classified ASD as mental illness. Is there some way we can correct them on this? I think when two authors have a baby they should name the baby Book if it is a boy and Story if it is a girl, or Page… that would work, too. 🙂
Omg I’m so sick of people classifying ASD as a mental illness. *eats a brick wall* It’s very ableist and frustrating. I think a lot of people in the world believe that so what can you even do?
I’ll definitely review When The Moon Was Ours on goodreads at some point!! IT LOOKS SO PRETTY AND I’VE HEARD GREAT THINGS. 😍
Okay so I read that article by Maggie Stiefvater and it was so funny and I just fell in love with her even though I’ve never read any of her books. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARUNG THAT BECAUSE I LOVED IT!!!
PLEASE READ ALL OF HER BOOKS YOU WON’T REGRET IT AND I WILL TRY NOT TO HANG OVER YOUR SHOULDER SAYING “DO YOU LOVE IT?? HUH?? HUH???” EVER 2 SECONDS.
