While I’m aware that it’s not exactly mid year anymore, I decided I still needed to pause my normal glorious cacophonies and do the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag. Because freaking out over books is just too ridiculously fun. Also there are books you squidlings need to read and I would be a neglectful overlord if I didn’t tell you what to do.*
* You know you love me for it.
Thanks to Theresa @ Until We Read Again for tagging me!
Also, I have officially read 200 books this year! I’m well on the way to beating last year’s 229 and also wearing out my eyeballs and also possibly going insane with 200 stories bouncing around my noggin. All these good things.

1. BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2015.
Well, excuse you, this question is stupid and, like Nick Fury, (he is my namesake after all) I’ve elected to ignore it and list ALL MY FAVOURITES. Well, not all. This year only 13 books have hit my All Time Favourite list…compared to the 30+ of last year. I am clearly getting cantankerous and hard to please in my old age.
ANYWAY!
Along with Ensnared (which was a perfect creeptastic Wonderland conclusion) I have such love for Disruption, The Darkest Part of the Forest, Challenger Deep, Every Breath, The Incredible Adventures of Cinnamon Girl, and The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B.
2. BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2015.
I’m absolutely dead with love for this book. DEAD I TELL YOU. The cliffhanger was beautifully cruel. I felt pretty “meh” about the first book, but then the sequel, The Winner’s Crime, trotted out and stabbed me in the face with its cleverness.
Somehow these are all compliments, I promise. Just…violent compliments? BUT SINCE WHEN DID I EVER COMPLIMENT SOMETHING NICELY??
3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO.
Agh, I’ve barely read any this newbies year (compared to 2014 where I was so up-to-date). I have reasons! I haven’t been a lazy melon! I’m trying to catch up on older series. But gosh, these darn authors won’t let me catch up. THEY KEEP PUBLISHING NEW BOOKS AND I’M DROWNING HERE.
But, along with Made You Up, I would trade my firstborn, or a dragon egg, or even my little sister, for these delicious looking books:
4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR.
Oh gosh. DO I HAVE A FEW OR WHAT. On top of Queen of Shadows which I’m simultaneously dreading and screaming for — I’m very very desperate for these delicious munchkins.
5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT.
I wanted to love Ember in the Ashes. But. No. I fell through all the plot holes and singed my eyebrows.
6. BIGGEST SURPRISE.
I DID NOT EXPECT TO LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH. (I blame Engie, by the way. I blame her for all the things.) I adore the A Song of Ice and Fire series because it’s complicated and intense. I thought I’d be just a casual fan, but pfft, why not become intensely obsessed to the point of staring at the maps and stroking the pretty covers? I am so ridiculously happy…
…when I’m not HOWLING WITH RAGE AND PAIN, of course. I do that copiously too.
Also: I STILL REMEMBER ALL THE DETAILS. I have a notoriously terrible memory, so what wizardry is this?! (Do I get an award for this? Perhaps a lemon cake? No pie, thank you.)
For those who are interested, I’m onto book 4: A Feast of Crows and currently shipping Jaime and Brienne so so hard. Also Jon and Daenerys despite the fact they’ve never met and don’t even know each other exists, but PFFFT. Small details.
7. FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR.
Oh definitely Moïra Fowley-Doyle. She wrote The Accident Season which was suffocatingly beautiful and reminded me of Maggie Stiefvater’s style a little bit.
I hope she writes 92 books, and does it quickly, so I can eat them all.
8. NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH SHIP.
I have changed this from “crush” to “ship”, because I’m a shipper not a crusher. Unless I’m crushing chocolate to sprinkle onto a cake or something. Or perhaps crushing the threats of my enemies beneath my heels. You know. Those kind of regular average things.
I ship many characters very fiercely, but my Khalid and Shazi ship has left the docks. OARS OUT. WE’RE SAILING THIS ONE FOR ETERNITY.
9. NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER.
Basically everyone out of Demon Road. EVERYONE. Their wit is too golden for words.
“We all go through tough times.”
“My parents are trying to kill me.”
“We all have issues.”
10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY.
I do not cry. I can actually list on one hand the books that’ve made me sniffle. NOT EVEN CRY. Just a sniffle.
Otherwise, it’s more like crying-on-the-inside. I haven’t even gotten close to having a heart this year, sadly, although I may have hiccuped with feels during The Rest of Us Just Live Here because Mikey was so entirely relatable.
11. BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY.
BOOKS make me happy. All of them. Even if they’re horrific books, writing growling reviews still makes me happy…sort of. BUT REGARDLESS! I though I Kill the Mockingbird was a really cute, pleasant, and funny surprise. Plus the characters dialogue was just so perfect I wanted to dissolve into this book and live there forever.
Elena pulls the ax out of the bag, holds it above her head, and shouts, “I KILL THE MOCKINGBIRD!”
Michael shakes his head. “I am seriously worried about you.”
See? My kind of people.
12. FAVOURITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTION YOU SAW THIS YEAR.
I don’t watch a lot of movies! Or…well, any. SHOCKING, I KNOW. It’s just movies are so long and take forever to get to the point. If I’m going to skimp on my precious reading time, then I’d rather watch an episode of a TV series which’ll take 45 minutes instead of 3 hours.
BUT! I did watch If I Stay whilst I was languishing in bed with a cold. Ohhh, it was terrific. As a cellist myself, I appreciated all the music and basically glared at Mia because she’s so sickeningly talented. Seriously, how about we share the skills across the world? Also I want a blue cello case.
And it was SO SAD. I APPROVE.
13. FAVOURITE POST YOU HAVE DONE SO FAR THIS YEAR.
Um, all of them. I am a great believer in only posting things that I’m proud of. But I’m mildly fond of this collection.
- Reasons It’s Appropriate To Take A Book Wherever You Go
- Disney Princess Book Tag
- Why Books Should Always Copiously Mention Food
- Can Your TBR Be Too Big?
- Bookshelf Tag: It’s Always A Good Time for a Shelfie
14. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT SO FAR THIS YEAR.
I haven’t read Ink and Bone yet (because I’ve been waylaid by Riordan and the cruel perfection of his finale of dragons and tragedy) BUT ISN’T THIS BOOK BEAUTIFUL? It looks like an old book. It’s also the nicest shade of blue. It’s also nefariously titled.
15. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THIS YEAR.
All of them. I have a rather gargantuan need to read all the books of ever. But I have realistic methods, don’t worry! I have clones and I occasionally my dog reads books and then relays the plots in short barks while I type a review.
BUT. Between reading all the books of ever, I am gnawing on this library stack.
My entire TBR is still hovering under ten books which is partially wonderful and partially distressing because WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF BOOKS?? #bookwormhorrorstory
I’m not taking anyone specifically since it’s not technically “mid-year” anymore. BUT. If you want to pinch this tag: consider yourself tagged!

FIRST COMEEEEEEENT!!!!!!!!!
(also fabulously beautiful photography as usual!)
Their fractured light, absolutely. Queen of Shadows means that I’m quaking in fear. And I put The Rest of Us Just Live here on reserve at the library, so I’m excited for that, though I’m totally breaking my august e-book ban. I’m 80% through my goodreads goal, so 120 books, which is pretty good I reckon. Ink and Bone and the Looking Glass Wars are excellent (speaking of, I’m currently reading Alice in Wonderland) And yes, I loved the If I Stay movie. I’m dying for Winter. I NEEDS IT.
I’m amazed and in awe that you have already read 200 books this year. Your book pictures are so pretty, as always.
My goal is to read a 100 books this year. Last year I managed over 70, and so far I’ve read 78 so I should get to 100 easily. Hopefully each year I’ll read a little more, haha.
I need Winter! And The Hollow Boy by Jonathan Stroud. And there is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. And the new Rick Riordan, and and and all those others!
I am looking forward to WINTER! I haven’t read Cinder*runs away* BUT I am excited for Winter because want to marathon-read the whole series. Is it the last book???
So many good things coming in the next four months. Magnus Chase. The Rose Society. Through the Dark. SandRider. SO MANY BOOKS.
I discovered Neal Shusterman this year, and I would say I’m proud of myself for making such a fabulous discovery, but actually my aunt discovered him and handed me the first two Unwind books.
And I’m at least three books behind on my Goodreads goal of 52. You’d think I could keep up. But no.
I’m going to have to try Made You Up–I wasn’t going to, but after loving Challenger Deep, I’m definitely interested. I really liked Ink and Bone! Looking Glass Wars is really good, too.
I AM ONE BOOK BEHIND YOU. I have read exactly 199 books (which, this number is SO annoying me, and I must read another ASAP.) But Queen of Shadows, GAHHHHH. It’s absolutely killing me to see people already reading it. (I have also been stalking their Goodreads pages religiously for their status updates.)
Your photography is amazing!
adfas omg I can pretty much guarantee that Queen of Shadows will top the “best sequels” list- it’s seriously good. I’m so excited for Winter! And Illuminae too- apparently it’s weirdly formated and I love weird formats haha. And wow Ink and Bone is really pretty! Might have to get myself a copy of it actually… 😛
Hah. My Goodreads reading challenge is really kicking my ass. I’m waaaay behind. T_T
Anyway, I’m really looking forward to Soundless by Richelle Mead and The Rose Society by Marie Lu. Eeeek! I can’t wait to get my hands on the lovelies!
I actually haven’t read the books you mentioned here, but I’d like to try The Wrath and the Dawn and Made You Up. Oh and The Rest Of Us Just Live Here! I’m excited! 😀
And If I Stay! The movie totally slayed me. (Although I loved the book more.) Plus the songs are really beautiful! FEELS!!!
OH INK AND BONE IS SO DELICIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL. I requested a copy from Allen and Unwin and got approved but I may just have to buy that hardcover. And it’s funny you say you haven’t LOVED as many books this year, because I think I’ve found MORE that I’ve fallen in love with. But we’ve established that we have quite different taste in books 😉 Good luck with surpassing 229 books (so…by tomorrow, you reckon?)
You’ve read 200 books already? Wow, just wow! Go Cait! I’ve read 122 so far. Nothing really stood out as much as The Lord of the Rings. I’m about to start A Game of Thrones. I shall be brave and embrace/read those epic books. Happy reading!
I’m 6 books off meeting my Goodreads goal for the year. And that’s after I upped it by 50 books. Whoops??
I agree with you about movies – they can either be really really good or just a bit… meh. Also, with book to film adaptations all too often they can be disappointing… I haven’t seen If I Stay but I really want to! I haven’t read the book though… which do you recommend to read/watch first? (I know the general rule is book first but… we’ve all had our rebellious moments) This tag looks so cool as well! Who cares if it isn’t technically mid-year? Any time is a good time to freak out about books! 😀
Your photography skillz are just getting better and better and it’s KILLING ME. This post also reminded me that I should watch If I Stay, but I’m kind of scared to do so… Like you I’m a Vulcan when it comes to crying over books, but films? Ooph, that’s a different story…
I’m actually 4 books behind on my Goodreads challenge, which is quite a lot considering my goal is only 50 books. ;_; It’s just that I hardly read anything when I was on holiday! Luckily Bout of Books will kick off tomorrow and I hope to read an awful lot in that week!
A few days ago I ordered a bunch of books, among which are Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire (AAAH FINALLY) and also The Raven Boys! I decided to go against your advice (I’m a rebel) and not start with The Scorpion Races. I’m just so curious about The Raven Cycle! 😀 I CAN’T WAIT to read them all and I’m kind of sad that they won’t arrive in time for Bout of Books. Oh well, at least I got something to look forward to now!
Most of the books I’m desperate for aren’t coming out until next year – See How They Run (Embassy Row #2), The Raven King, etc. etc. 🙁 I think The Legion #3’s supposed to come out this year though. 🙂
I’m only 4/5 books ahead on my reading challenge right now, but I’m thinking of re-reading a bunch of childhood favourites so that should boost me up a bit.
Old new authors whose awesomeness I have only just discovered:
Jandy Nelson
Terry Pratchett
Neil Gaiman
Is Demon Road out officially yet, or did you get an ARC?
Do you know if that edition for Ink and Bone is for EVERYWHERE???? Like if I bought it would it be that cool. Because I want. (But also my poor wallet).
Anyways. READ MADE YOU UP PLEASE. I swear you will absolutely love it. Unless you don’t, which means I will then destr—do nothing.
It’s ok, An Ember in the Ashes was my biggest disappointment too. But I’ll probably still read the sequel just because I’m committed now. Will you read the sequel? (Though it’s probably gonna come out in 2020 or something)
Wow! Only 200 books you say! Not bad and you chose some new to me authors that I need to check out. Love your pics by the way! Because I have such a massive TBR pile and always adding to it, there’s nothing specific I’m looking to read…yet, because they are all to be enjoyed. Meanwhile, I’ll just keep collecting and adding. Hugs and Happy Sunday! Ro
I swear you are the queen of the most awesome book photography everrrr!! Gosh that photography is so amazing and beautiful 😀
Yay!! I am so glad that you did this tag and I love how you made it your own! 🙂 I really need to read some of these books. I just added a few to my Goodreads list. Thanks for adding to the madness. 😉
I can’t wait for you to read Ink & Bone. I’m anxious to read your review. I loved it and would love the next book in the series NOW!
WINTER IS COMING. Now that I’m nearly finished Game of Thrones, I spend most of my time wanting to run around the house yelling WINTER IS COMING, because Winter really is coming, in November, and I need that book right now. Also, I really want to read 5 to 1 and like, every other book you mentioned that I haven’t already read. (And asking someone to pick a favorite book–such a mean question; I only realized how mean it was when I tried to pick my own favorite.)
I totally understand you shipping Daenerys and Jon–I actually thought about that briefly myself, but I have to admit that I kind of ship Daenerys and Tyrion for no good reason except that they’re my two favorite characters. How is A Feast For Crows coming along?
Let’s see, for authors I discovered this year–well, I read two of Lauren Oliver’s (Before I Fall, and Delirium–I’d been wanting to read them for ages), and I read Nova Ren Suma’s Imaginary Girls (plus I’m almost finished 17 & Gone). I took the plunge into the Lunar Chronicles this year and also had a lovely chat (online, of course) with Marissa Meyer about her agent and stuff, so that was cool. I also got into Patrick Ness and F. Scott Fitzgerald. So it’s actually been a pretty good year, though most of these books aren’t new releases. Still, though.
For my Goodreads goal, the last time I checked, I was 18 books ahead (my goal is 111, but I couldn’t tell you exactly how many I’ve read so far). And I’m really hoping to make more headway, but I have a job and other things have come up. 🙁 But I’m insanely jealous that you’ve read 200 books so far–I think I need some clones. And maybe I should teach my pet rat how to read so she can help me along like your dog does.
I think I need to add Demon Road to my TBR list, ’cause, honestly, I need to read something funny because all the books I’ve been reading lately are rather grim. The problem is that our library for whatever reason doesn’t have it and that is quite frustrating.
And I’m with you about waiting for Winter and Lock and Mori, also Slasher Girls and Monster Boys, Library of Souls, the Iron Warrior, Dumplin’, Magnus Chase, Dreamland, Carry On, and a few others that I currently can’t remember.
Sooo, SNFKSAMDKLSAM. This tag. Basically tags usually bore me but YOURS NEVER EVER DO. Like, you make them so fun and interesting and basically click bait. Also have I ever told you that yOUR GRAPHICS ARE FREAKIN INCREDIBLE? Like…w h a t e v e n. I love them all. Also your photography skills are so unique and just gah. Perfect? Do I use that word too much? I mean it when I use it. Perfect is the perfect word for anything I call perfect.
AND NOW I WANT TO READ THE INCREDIBLE ADVENTURES OF CINNAMON GIRL. Literally that book looks so good oh my goodness… and I’m just such a sucker for realistic fic with some humor. ♥ What love. And that OTP sounds amazing. Basically your Goodreads review totally just won me o’re.
Awesome post, girl!! Keep on reading. (LITERALLY 200 BOOKS ARE YOU EVEN HUMAN.)
xoxo,
abbiee
I finished my Goodreads challenge a while ago. I underestimated myself, only putting 25 books on there. I got off to a slow start, though, so there was a period of time when I wasn’t sure I’d be able to achieve my meagre goal!
My favourite book so far this year was All Our Yesterdays, but Cristin Terrill has only written the one book! Argh.
I can’t really think of any books I’m looking forward to for the second half of the year. I’d actually prefer to read any series once they’re all out in their entirety. Then I can binge read and I don’t forget so much.
KHALID AND SHAZI. THE ULTIMATE SHIP. I can’t handle them, to be honest because they hurt so GOOD. And I’m beyond excited for Queen of Shadows and Winter as well!! I’m actually about to reread the ToG series because as you’ve said, there are so many stories in my head but I can’t trust my memory! Haha. Also, I actually couldn’t even finish An Ember In The Ashes. :/ I checked out from the library on two separate occasions and just decided to stop trying. Oh well! We’ve got plenty to read otherwise, lol! Awesome answers 😀
I’m really trying to read this, but it’s so hot, I can’t think straight. I’ve been staring at the computer screen & only registering 20% of what I see.
What I did pick up: You’ve read 49 more books than I have this year, and I’m not going to even pretend that I’m not jealous. You must not spend as much time on Twitter as I do. The number of books I could read if I took away the cumulative hours I spend on Twitter every day would probably make me cry. *whispers* but it’s so addictive.
You asked a lot of questions at the end, but my brain has officially melted. I deserve a cookie for commenting at all.
Also: I started Made You Up last night (my library fiiiiiiiiinally ordered it), and I’m really enjoying it so far! Your library needs to get its act together, because it seems as though it’s missing quite a lot of important books.
OMG I’m the same way. I can’t handle movies anymore. They’re too long! Give me BBC shows over a movie any day. Although I can’t even handle those when it’s hot in the summer.
I’m so excited to read Ensnared! I have it but I don’t have Unhinged ugh. I’m on a book buying ban so I’ll get it once December is here (the month my ban ends). I’m surprised you didn’t like An Ember in the Ashes! I heard so many good things about it though I’m still not sure what it’s about. I have not seen If I Stay yet, but I have read the book and it’s so beautifully written!
CAIT YOU KEEP ADDING BOOKS TO MY TBR! It’s so worth it, though, I just have a massive list of all the books I need to read. Seriously, the only books on here that I have read are The Darkest Part of the Forest and Ensnared XD But one of my sister’s friends plays the cello and she has a soft-ish lemon yellow case! I am always very jelly and I don’t even play a string instrument.
Lovely post as always, darling!
I am SO EXCITED to read 1) The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly and 2) The Game of Love and Death (!!) so I am excited to follow your progress on GR for those two!
-Monica @ Tomes Project
YAAAY!! I’m so so excited for them too!! I was going to start Minnow Bly tonight but it’s getting late so I’ll see how I go. xD EXCITED THO.
The Darkest Part of the Forest IS JUST WONDERFUL ASDFGHJKL. And I am about to start An Ember in the Ashes, oh my.
YES IT IS JUST ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL. I keep getting urges to reread and I’ve already read it this year. But gahhhh it was just too beautiful and creepy.
I was pleasantly surprised by all of the books I read so far but the ones that are stuck in my head so far are P.S. I Still Love You and Wrath and the Dawn. Not perfect, but they do have a special place in my heart.
AFJDKLSA I LOVE THE WRATH AND THE DAWN MORE THAN I CAN SAY. :’) Actually I can say. I believe my review for it was like over a thousand words. omg. MY BAD. XDXD
OMG. GAH. The wait for Winter, Queen of Shadows and Their Fractured Light is going to kill me! *cries* (Although, I promise you that the wait for Illuminae will be completely worth it. It is amazing and I have a real feeling you’ll adore it.)
And Made You Up and 5 to 1 are both fabulous. I may have not loved them as much as the next bookworm, but they were really intriguing and well-written stories and I really do think you’ll like them.
Also, a moment of silence for the ending of The Winner’s Crime. *cries because the wait for book 3 is torture*
Fabulous post Cait and great choices! ♥
IT IS KILLING ME. WE SHALL DIE TOGETHER, ZOE. Okay, well, not die die. Just be mostly dead because we need be alive for the wonderfulness that is coming. :’) I thiiiink I’m getting a review copy of Illuminae soon?! FINGERS CROSSED.
As long as you didn’t LOATHE them then I’m sure I’ll like them. 😉
HOW DARE THE WINNER’S CRIME HAVE SUCH A CLIFFHANGER THO. THE AUTHOR IS A CRUEL FISH.
I CAN NOT WAIT FOR QUEEN OF SHADOWS!!!! I may or may not of marked the publishing date on my calendar. I love that series so much!
I also share your love of The Unlikely Hero in Room 13b. That was really quite excellent!
Sadly, there’s many books you mentioned that I NEED to read still! I’ve got to get busy! SO MANY BOOKS SO LITTLE TIME!!!
Fun post!
(P.S. I acknowledge that this comment is a bit disjointed #sorrynotsorry:P)
DATE MARKED ON THE CALENDAR? THAT IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA. I’M JUST HYPERVENTILATING WHILST WAITING. XDD Awk, I’m glad you liked The Unlikely Hero. :’) I just wanted to hug aaall the characters, particularly Sweetie. WHAT A SWEETIE.
UMM HOW HAVE YOU READ SO MANY BOOKS?! I don’t even want to look at the pitiful amount that I have read… *sobs* Seriously, I would totally want to see a post about how you fit reading into your schedule!!
I’m soo happy to hear that you loved The Winner’s Crime. I loved the first book with a fiery passion, even though it left me in a pile of feels. I mean, it sounds like the sequel did the same to you, so I have high hopes for whenever I do decide to pick it up.
I’m sad that you didn’t like An Ember in the Ashes! I actually enjoyed that one- it was an addicting read for sure, even if I did have a few qualms. I feel like I’m the black sheep for The Wrath and the Dawn… I just didn’t like that book much, sigh. Khalid was one of my more liked characters, though, so I definitely understand why you liked him so much. 😀
Ink and Bone is SUCH a beautiful book!!! I’m dying. It also SOUNDS so great as well, so hopefully the inside will match the beauty of the outside. Plus, it’s a book about libraries, if I’m not mistaken? I feel like that’s a win-win-win situation for us book lovers obsessed with pretty words and beautiful covers.
Lovely, lovely post, Cait! Also, your pictures are absolutely stunning. <33
I INHALE BOOKS. THAT IS JUST WHAT I DO.
Ahh, we are such opposites for Ember and TW&TD then, aren’t we?! XD That is an excellent reason why the world needs so many different books to appeal to EVERYONE. *nods* And zomg, I just want to cuddle Ink and Bone because it’s so delightfully beautiful. AND YES IT’S ABOUT BOOKS. A book about books is just the ultimate bookish awesome.
Awk thank you!! <3
Ooh I need to read Made You Up and Ink and Bone and The Rest of Us Just Live Here and allllll the books!
ME TOO. I mean, all the books. I want to read them ALL. I’m working hard but still soooo many to read.
Ooh! I might just have to steal this…. 😀
You ship Percabeth, right? They’re probably my OTP. Eeeee they’re just so cute. I was so happy when I finished reading The Last Olympian.
I love your book photography. Teach me your ways, senpai.
YES I SHIP PERCABETH. WHO ELSE IS THERE TO SHIP? I MEAN SRSLY.
I hope you will enjoy Made You Up and 5 TO 1 when you get to reading them. Both are pretty good reads in my opinion 🙂
And to answer your questions. I am REALLY looking forward to Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and The Bleeding Dark by Janice Pia in second half of 2015. Both are very high on my TBR and I am so excited to read them.
And this year I discovered Ritchie twins (Krista & Becca Ritchie). I thought that New Adult is forever lost cause but they proved me otherwise 🙂
I’ve only heard good things about Made You Up so I’m like 98% sure I’m going to love it. xD AHH SIX OF CROWS!! I love Leigh Bardugo’s style so I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy that one. ^-^
I love this post! OK SO CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT BRAIME
BRAIME
BRAIME
BRAIME
I’M DYING
I’M IN LOVE WITH HIM
I’M TOO SCARED TO READ A DANCE WITH DRAGONS
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
~overwrought panicky breathing~
Aside from that I really am very desperate for Demon Road which cOMES OUT IN TEN DAYS. I’m going to march up and pay full price for it. Yes, really. This scrooge is going to go to Waterstones and hand over hard cash for that book.
YES PLEASE, BRAIME FOREVER. I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THEY HAD A SHIP NAME BUT I APPROVE. I actually shipped Jaime and Cersei for a little while but…she’s so mean to him. he’s matured and all she can do is ridiculous his missing hand. :((( CERSEI, BE KIND, YOU GREAT BIG PLUM PIP. I’m halfway through A Feast of Crows now! 😀 I PROBABLY WON’T BE SMILING SOON! So i shall smile while I can. 😀 😀 😀
DEMON ROAD IS AMAZING AND PERFECT AND YOU WON’T REGRET IT.
DAMMIT CAIT LET ME STEAL YOUR BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS.
…I am looking forward to Queen of Shadows but then then, by looking forward to, I would mean “sobbing heart out and tearing at hair tO MAKE HER SHIPS SAIL ALREADY.” Choleana needs to pull its act together ASAP. XD
NO THEY ARE MINE AND I SHALL NOT SHARE. *stamps foot*
I think your interpretation of “looking forward to QoS” is absolutely spot on. I’m going to need a small padded room to scream in afterwards. Then probably I’ll curl into fetal position and just die. JUST SAYIN’.
Woaah! This is such a great post! 200 books is seriously crossing all the levels of being bookishly awesome! Now I feel like 32 books are nothing comparatively. Great work! 🙂
AWK. I DON’T MEAN TO MAKE YOU FEEL BAD THOUGH!! I have loads of time to read and I do it uber quickly. heeh.
You’ve read 200 books already?! Cait I envy you so much haha. There are so many books in this post that I haven’t read yet but that I MUST read. Also Queen of Shadows. I don’t know if I should be happy or scared that it’s almost out.
I INHALE BOOKS. IT JUST HAPPENS. I’m happy/scared. Hared? Scappy?? THAT EMOTION. I AM IT.
Like you I’m much more of a shipper than a crusher – I think there are lots of us in the book blogging world! I really enjoyed the adaptation of If I Stay; I’ve already watched it more than a handful of times and, dare I say it, I think I might have even liked it a tad more than the book.
Also I need Winter. I need it now.
And I consider myself tagged. 😉
*shipping hi five* Why would I crush on a character when I need ship them SO HARD with their perfect other bookish half??? PRIORITIES. 😉 Agh, I listened to the audio of If I Stay and it had sad cello music in the background and was basically 86% heartbreaking.
I have many things to say but alas I am on a strange tablet device and it is hard to use so I will probably forget most of it by the time I’ve worked out how to comment.
I can’t believe you’ve read 200 books. You are ridiculous and I wish I could read that many. I’m in a slump but Rainbow Rowell is helping.
I haven’t heard of a lot of the books you’ve talked about in this post which is great because there seems to be a lot of the same ones going around at the moment which is a bit boring.
Maybe I’ll do this tag.
OH AND YES TO JAIME AND BRIENNE. I am of the opinion that Jon and Dany are going to end up together.
WELL I APPRECIATE THIS COMMENT 10000% EVEN IF IT IS ON AN ALIEN DEVICE. I try to comment on things on my iPod and just give up in frustration and read a book. -_- For someone who is in love with their laptop and the internet, I’m actually very technologically challenged. BUT WHAT WAS I SAYING? Ahem.
I need read more Rainbow Rowell. Because I don’t read enough, definitely. *nods*
Yes I have noticed we’re all cackling about the same books these days, right?! I read SO MANY obscure ones though, hehe…
I look forward to Lock & Mori too. And wow, 200 books already! You’re AMAZING. I liked “The Accident Season” too.
YAAAY ANOTHER ACCIDENT SEASON FAN!! And I need Lock and Mori like nothing else…although I keep typing it down as Locki and Mori and getting myself all in a tangle. -_-
Winter!!! And apparently I REALLY need to read The Winner’s Curse and Throne of Glass. >.< Listening to the audio of The Accident Season right now. Just started it… But so far it's gooooood!! Love this tag! 🙂
AHHHHH I’M SO GLAD YOU LIKE THE ACCIDENT SEASON!! It’s becoming the book I screech about far too often. xD Pfft. What am I saying? NEVER TOO OFTEN.
At the beginning of the year I read Cinder, Scarlet and Cress by Marissa Meyer and I’M IN LOVE WITH THAT SERIES. I’m so desperate to read Winter but I’m questioning how long it will take me to read the 800+ pages when I’m starting my A Levels.
My Goodreads challenge was massively behind for ages because I stopped reading during my GCSE exams, but reading 16 books in the past 2 months has set me 5 books ahead, which is really convenient.
AHHHH I’M WORRIED ABOUT THE WORD COUNT TOO. I mean, WELL, I read big books of course, but I prefer smallish ones. I’m pretty sure the entire thing will be filled with amazingness because Marissa Meyer hasn’t let us down yet. BUT OMG BALANCING IT AND SCHOOL? GOOD LUCK.
The amount of books you manage to get through is incredibly impressive but also terrifying.
I am a very intense eater of many books. *nods*
200 BOOKS??????? O___________O CAIT HOW DARE YOU BE SO AMAZING. *dies from your amazingness* I think I’m a little more than usually scared of you. Like. HOW EVEN. YOU ARE INDEED THE RULER OF THE WORLD. I just… I can’t compete with such fabulousness.
I finished my Goodreads goal just a week or so ago! Which was a pitiful 52 books… Hey, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to read more than a book a week, okay? *cough* I’m still kind of proud of me though. XD
I love this post! Bookish tags are the BEST! Especiallywhenyoudothem. *cough*
Ink and Booooooone! *had no idea it was that gorgeous* *dies a little inside at its gorgeousness* HOW IS IT SO GORGEOUS. LIKE. AAAAAAAAAAAHHH.
Okay. I’m not blogging right now but I’m totally scheming to steal this half way through next year (ifIremember). I’ll bring the trend back. #likeaboss I can be a rulebreaker like you, too, you know. XD
OH I CAN’T HELP BUT BE AMAZING. IT’S JUST WHO I AM. *flips hair*
*whispers* 52 books isn’t PITIFUL. It’s like normal. XD I am an abnormal melon with clearly far too much time on my hands (most of this is procrastinating writing. HAHAHA. I WON’T EVEN DENY MY EVILNESS THERE.) xD AJFDLKSA I AM SO GLAD YOU LIKE MY BOOKISH TAG POSTS. :’) I really enjoy writing them, I won’t lie. 😉
Haha, I love this post! I NEED REAWAKENED AND WINTER TOO!!!! I’M DYING FOR WINTER ESPECIALLY. DYING, I TELL YOU.
*puts entire post into TBR List* I have no idea when I’ll get to the rest of these books, but it /will/ happen. Hopefully before I am 92.

I LOVE tags and remember doing this last year, might have to make the time to get to this one myself. I really feel I should continue the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I only read book one and then just continued watching thr TV show. I get put off because he takes years to write books and the TV shows are ahead now so I don’t want to be sitting around waiting for the book, whilst already learning everything from the show.
Oh and also a copy of The Game of Love and Death is going to be on it’s way to you very soon 🙂 🙂 🙂 I am gifting you a copy as I want you to read it and love it, so we can discuss. Or you can read and hate it and we can still discuss!
Ooooh . . . I LOVE this tag!!! One book I am SUPER looking forward to is Winter. I AM EXCITED!!!! And also Rose Society, the sequel to The Young Elites. That is coming out this year, I think. And I have just discovered Sarah J. Maas when I read her book A Court of Thorn and Roses. I need to read Throne of Glass now!!
Oh, and I am so bummed you were disappointed by An Ember in the Ashes. I loved it!
I haven’t read ANY of your faves this year, so clearly I need to get on that. And oh, Made You Up is one I really want to read also! I’m bad at getting to newbie authors, especially, because I’m always trying to catch up on the older books and WHY CAN’T EVERYONE SLOW DOWN AND GIVE ME A CHANCE TO READ ALL THE BOOKS BEFORE PUBLISHING NEW ONES.
I’d definitely recommend 5 to 1! It was absolutely wonderful! Oh! The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly was also pretty great. 🙂
ASDFJK;L SHAZI AND KHALID THE SHIPPIEST SHIP TO EVER SHIP.
I read the ‘Darkest Part of the Forest’ and ‘Every Breath’. I was entranced by both of them. Hazel was oh so relatable, and I am basically in love with Mycroft. Thanks for the great recommendations.
If I Stay was great my mom made me watch it with her, I too was jealous of Mia’s talent and I play violin.
200 books!? Has there even been 200 DAYS yet this year? (Sorry, I am bad at math, so.. no idea.) I am ahead of my challenge goal but not like you, goodness! I AM 20 books ahead of schedule though, and I consider that pretty good, especially considering the small humans.
Books I am looking forward to for the rest of the year (these are the ones that my grabby hands need to read NOW, of course): The Rest of Us Just Live Here, The White Rose, I Crawl Through It, Blood and Salt, Six of Crows, A Madness So Discreet, Queen of Shadows (obviously!), Illuminae, Daughters Unto Devils. Queen (the 3rd Pawn book), The Revolution of Ivy (I would sell a kidney to read this now, basically)… and those are just my MUST reads. Oopsie?
New to me authors? Maggie Stiefvater! You are so proud, I am sure! Sarah J Maas, Megan Shepherd, Mary E Pearson… I could go on for days. I will stop now 😉
Yesss I can’t wait to read Reawakened, 5 to 1 and Made You Up! QUEEN OF SHADOWS IS FREAKING FANTASTIC. AND YES to Illuminae, Winter and Their Fractured LIght. I can’t wait for my copy of The Wrath and the Dawn to arrive from TBD! OMG THAT INK AND BONE HARD COPY. I MUST GET ONE. 200 books this year CAit?! That is insannnee!
Firstly, I apologize for another novel of a comment.
I totes agree with: needing to read Made You Up. Got it recently from the library, and I am excited. It’s hella long, and I haven’t read something that long in a while because reading slump. I just got out of my first slump. It lasted about two weeks, if you were curious (but you weren’t). I totally didn’t like EMBER. I DNF’d.
Goodreads goals: I’m a little over halfway through, and I think I might make it before the end! If not, oh well. C’est la vie, and I’ll do better next time. Congrats on finishing your goal, Cait.
Second half: Ice Like Fire, Queen of Shadows, Ten Thousand Skies Above You, The Rose Society. I was also looking forward to Dumplin, Fans & TMT but I have read/am reading those. Recently received Everything, Everything which I must read ASAP. Sounds so good.

I want to kill my TBR in the next few years. I just gotta stop adding books to it.
Everyone has so many mixed emotions about The Accident Season. I definitely need to read this one for myself!
Everyone is freaking out about Queen of Shadows. I hope for your sake that it comes out soon! 🙂
Mixed emotions?! NO. THERE IS ONLY ONE EMOTION TO BE HAD = GLORY. *flails about because loves this book so much* hehe I do hope you try it someday though. 😉
I love when you do tags, because pictures (:
I also don’t really do crushes, but I’m all about the shipping! Also, love the cover of I Kill the Mockingbird!
I also really need to read Ink and Bone, and yes, so pretty! And I desperately need Winter and Queen of Shadows in my life.
Awesome list, Cait!
Jaime and Brienne. YES. YOU FEEL ME!!!
I ABSOLOUTELY DO. ZOMG I SHIP THEM SO HARD. *dies*
The Winner’s Crime WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. THAT CLIFFHANGER WAS EVIL. I’m dying to read Queen of Shadows. I need that book. And Winter of course. Winter is going to be amazing as well. I actually have The Scorpion Rules waiting for me to read it. I really hope I like it! The last ARC I reviewed didn’t turn out so well. I just couldn’t get into it.
I just discovered James Luceno and Christie Golden this year. They’re both brilliant in their own ways. Golden knows how to pack an emotional punch and Luceno knows how to add depth like no one else. My favorite narrators have been Daniel Davis and (hands down) Marc Thompson. Thompson is BRILLIANT AND TALENTED AND OH SO GOOD.
My Goodreads goal was pretty low this year. I only put my goal at 25 books and I’m one book away from achieving it. It’s been a busy year with work, school, blogging, and writing this year so I’m pretty happy I’ve come so far already. Hopefully I’ll get plenty more in before the end of this year. Audiobooks have saved my reading life this year. 8 out of the 24 books are audio books and I have a feeling I might be jumping on the Falling Kingdoms bandwagon so that’ll basically be four more audiobooks on my list in addition to anything else. I also can’t believe I read 8 books in May. When did I find all of that time? I just have no idea how I did that.
AGHHHH I WILL FOREVER BE SCREECHING WITH NEED FOR THE NEXT WINNER’S CRIME/CURSE BOOK BECAUSE ZOMG. HOW COULD IT END LIKE THAT?!?? *hyperventilates* Winter is just 100% sure to be perfect, I have no worries there. Queen of Shadows however…*flops face-first in agony* YEAH IT’S GONNA HURT.
Audio books are total lifesavers. XD I listen to them aaaall the time, although I’ve been diving into the Game of Thrones series, so each book is like 30 hours long. *gulps* It’s pretty intense. XD
So surprised to not see The Wrath and The Dawn on this list, but YAY Patrick Ness! And I had no idea that The Accident Season was like Maggie Stiefvater’s writing.. definitely checking that out.
I remember seeing your review of Challenger Deep on Goodreads so I added that to my TBR. Oh, and you just NEED to read Made You Up! I loved that book like crazy, and really everything about it. I think there is so much we can learn from books like that. One of the books I am anticipating like crazy is Winter. I can’t get enough of the series and it is going to end. Ahhhh I can’t even think about it anymore 😛
