In a land far, far away there lives a queen, beautiful and good. Mostly.
Only she has one problem. The princess who is, in fact, more beautiful than her and hereditary next in line. Snow White.
And another problem. The queen, Clementianna, is broke.
Prince Andrew Allcott is going to solve that problem, rich young man that he is. Except he’s in love with Snow White. That bothersome girl again…
Snow must do as snow does best. Snow will have to fall.
So, so funny. I love funny. I love this movie.
I’m a fairytale person. I love a good edited fairytale. And when the evil stepmother is the funny and sarcastic narrator, and Snow White ends up leading a rebellion amongst the seven dwarf bandits, I knew it was going to be great. It was.
Being the millionth fairytale adaptation, it wasn’t the most original movie on the shelf, it’s still good for a watch. A good family movie, though their were a few older references. None were terribly rude or crude, so I’ll ignore them and still say it’s a good movie.
The costumes! Combine the Capitol fashions from the Hunger Games, and the puffy dresses from the Red Queen’s castle in Alice in Wonderland, and there lies the fashions for this movie. Amazing. The costume designer obviously had no scruples against dressing the characters in grotesquely gorgeous dresses. Don’t know how I can say that? Just see them. The colours, the ornaments… there awful but amazing. I loved it. And I really liked Snow White’s bandit costume. Very practical. (Raise the shoulders a little, though, and I’d wear it.)
Very good acting all round, very funny all the way through. Definitely put it on your to-watch list. And just as a side note, it’s not released on DVD yet. It’s so funny.
