You know what is eerily disturbing? I HAVE BARELY ANY NEW BOOKS ON MY TBR. What even is this life. I’ve not been requesting ARCs or librarying because I decided to do a NaNoWriMo warm-up and write a quick book. So book acquiring ban…but now that I finished writing my book, my TBR looks shockingly puny. It is a worry. SOME TAKE ME TO THE LIBRARY, STAT.
Still! It’s monthly recap time! (I confess, I totally enjoy writing recap posts!) And I have several importantly exciting things to announce, like:
- I hit 1.5K followers on bloglovin’! WOOT WOOT! I plan to have a scrumptious giveaway really soon.
- I wrote a book! More on that below.
- My puppy, Atticus Bean, turned 1 year old this week! N’AWWW. His little adorable face is everything. He has a sock fetish and so much attitude, and he literally thinks he’s a human child. He’s also not a morning person. I mean C’MON HE’S A DOG HE SHOULD LIKE WALKS. But no. He’d rather sleep in and I have to drag him out of bed basically. But he’s my favouritest thing of ever.
SEE?!! ONLY 2 BOOKS. I’m not sure whether to be proud of me or horrified. But I just can’t read and write my own books at the same time, so I’ve literally gone 10 days without reading! IT WAS TRAUMATIC BUT I’M IN RECOVERY NOW.
- FANS OF THE IMPOSSIBLE LIFE: I’m so excited to try this one! Thank you Charnell, you nice incredible bean.
- TIGER’S CURSE: I borrowed this one from the library because a) it’s fantasy and I feel like fantasy, and b) THE COVER IS SO PRETTY. Don’t ask me what it’s about, I haven’t the faintest. Maybe tiger’s??? Just a wild guess????
AUDIOBOOKS
I’m still listening to A Dance with Dragons which is like 40+ hours long (‘scuse me but *dies*) … but afterward I have these beauties from the library vying for my attention.
Still freakishly worried about Go Set A Watchman!! I love TKAM but I’ve heard absolutely abysmal things about GSAW. If anyone has thoughts to share with me: SHARE. I BEG YOU.
Oh Instagram, how I love you. You are so much fun. All the books. All the pictures. HEAVEN.
// click covers to read reviews //
I spent the last 10 days of September writing so I only read 21 books this month. ONLY 21. SHEESH, CAIT. YOU SLACKER. I also had this really odd reading month where I loathed it or I loved it. No in-betweens.
- BEST BOOK? Oh! Oh! It’s a tie between Made You Up and The Game of Love And Death. THEY WERE INCREDIBLE. Some of the best books I’ve read all year.
- HAPPILY SURPRISED? Dangerous Lies! I have this weird on-and-off love with Becca Fitzpatrick books…but this one was a solid 4-stars and I was impressed!
- WISH I’D NEVER READ? Probably The Diviners…ugh that book. I buddy read it with Charnell, Mishma, and Amanda and I don’t even think ANY of us liked it. Although I guess I am glad I tried it…but I definitely wish I’d never read This Broken Wondrous World. SO TACKY AND UGH.
- DID I LAUGH? I cackled my entire way through Magnus Chase. OMG SO FUNNY.
- COVER LOVE? While Mad About the Hatter is the most gorgeous cover of the universe…it is a horrible book. COVERS LIE, FOLKS.
- STATS? So, um, I had a lot of 2-star reads. Agh. I told you it was a bad reading month!

INTRIGUING SEARCH RESULTS:
- “tipes of wrigthers there is?” — there are two types: ones that can spell and ones that can’t. You, my friend, are a horrible speller.
- “paperfiry” — hmm…no. But I will give you like half a cake crumb for trying.
- “marvel cares more about being diverse than being good” — no, no Marvel does NOT care about being diverse. Marvel doesn’t care about starring their movies with characters of diverse colour or nationality or even, for goodness sakes, women. I CAN RANT ABOUT THIS ALL DAY, IF YOU LIKE.
- “i am feeling like a bookworm now adays” — me too! I think there’s something in the air.
- “unpopular but correct” — yes? Did you call my name? HA HA HA HHAHAHA. But really now.
- “what are the top 10 problems of an adult” — I didn’t write a post on this BUT I SHOULD. I think #1 is probably the fact that you have to make your own excuses to not attend social outings because “my mum said no” doesn’t work anymore. It’s really hard being an adult. I don’t like it.
- “trust me, i’m having a great time” — You know what? This sounds sarcastic. I don’t think you are having a good time. YOU FAKER.
- One of my favourite Australian authors is back and writing a new book! WOOT.
- Patrick Ness is the writer of a spin-off Doctor Who series! And, ashamedly, I never seen any Doctor Who…BUT I LOVE PATRICK NESS SO MAYBE THIS SHOULD CHANGE?! Also I saw this conversation on twitter and this is why Derek Landy is the best:
- AG Howard (who is INCREDIBLE) is writing a new series!! It’s a Phantom of the Opera retelling called Roseblood and ‘SCUSE ME WHILE I FLAIL. Coming 2017!!
- Throne of Glass is getting a TV series and I am exactly 0% excited due to falling out of love with the series. I shall cry alone in my corner.
- The Scorpio Races movie has a director and I’M STILL WORRIED OKAY?!?! This is my specialist Maggie Stiefvater book (who is my favourite author, by the way!!) and I don’t want them to mangle this.
- Buzzfeed has a list of 37 YA books everyone should read and…honestly?!? Some of them are so so random, but others are excellent. (I’m tempted to write my own list!) I’ve read 25 of their picks.
- Alexandra @ Twirling Pages has tips to improve your #bookstagram!
- Mel @ The Daily Prophecy asks about popularity and what makes a blog “popular”.
- Mishma @ Chasing Faerytales has some EXCELLENT tips about your social media presence.

I WROTE A BOOK IN 9 DAYS. Which isn’t unusual for me, but still!! It makes me happy! Usually my first drafts are 50-60K, but this one finished up at 85K which is, um…huge. I am basically running away from edits. FOREVER. It’s an epic fantasy and the first one I’ve written in 5 years and, gah, I think this is my happy-writing-place. Fantasy is my everything. It’s about heists and assassins and magic and so much chocolate omg and cutting out hearts and families. So all of the good stuff. Also everyone dies. KIDDING HAHAH haha ha h hah…ha. But really…
I’m planning to do a post with more snippets (!!) and also a post about my writing and inspiration processes. Because WHY NOT. But if anyone has any writing-related-posts they’d like me to do, shout out in the comments!
And here is a quick snippet before you go!
Oh, and because of all this writing I’m awfully behind on comments and blog-reading. SO I WILL CATCH UP THIS WEEK.
You, send me you book, like, right now, goddamit. Also, congratulations on finishing it! And congratulations to you too for reaching 1.5K. I’m almost at 150, so we can go be number siblings (somehow) soon. Go get a cake now. And as always, I love those search terms.
AFJDLASK THANK YOU, SHANNELLE. AND OMG IT NEEDS EDITING. It will blind you with its fierce awfulness. o.O I promise these snippets are just the like 2 lines that make sense. THE REST IS A MESS. hahahah.
This definitely makes us siblings. *nods*
Half-Blood Prince is my FAVORITE Potter book. I am excited for you to listen to it! To Kill a Mocking Bird is my favorite book of ALL TIME. It was the only high school class required reading I liked besides Animal Farm. I will not be reading GSaW because I am still a firm believer Harper Lee did not want it published, and Atticus Finch is my hero and I don’t want bad thoughts in my head about him. The book… the book, I am so happy you were happily writing! And your followers, gorsh, I mean what can be said, but you deserve it. Your blog is extremely entertaining (and informative, but shhh… let them think they are only having fun). Does Atticus Bean’s birthday mean we get an Atticus Bean blog post? Finally? How about, A Day In The Life Of Atticus Bean. September was a wash out for me, but I did get over my reading slump. 🙂
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TKAM!! This will be a reread and first time on audio! 😀 So I’m excited to see what I think, because I haven’t read it in like, omg…6 or 8 years??!? Something crazy. I don’t really believe Harper Lee wanted it published either. I’m like 99% sure it was a money making scheme and I’m sad about it all. BUT I AM TOO CURIOUS. I just have to decide whether to listen to it or TKAM first..
omg, thank you. :’) I feel REALLY HONOURED every time some follows my blog because I swear, I blog like a deranged pineapple half the time AND WHY DO PEOPLE EVEN READ MY RABBIT TRAILS?!! IDEK.
We definitely need an Atticus Bean centred post. *nods* I’ll put it on the to-do list.
9 days. Crazy and cool. How many hours a day did you write?
A Throne of Glass TV show would be expensive, maybe even more so than Game of Thrones with all the fantasy creatures.
Sometimes I think I write like 5+ hours a day?? I had one 15K day, but I basically averaged around 8K. *nods* So not TOO wild, but still intense. 😛
omg but yes, that’s so true about the ToG. I just hope they don’t try to make it too much like GoT. I mean, the names are SO similar as is…>_>
I adored TKAMB, and I’m in the middle of GSAWM. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but brace yourself. I am enjoying the plot so far, but it definitely isn’t as polished as TKAMB and I won’t be rating it on the same level (I gave TKAMB 5/5). Let me know what you think when you read it! R x
I’ve heard Go Set a Watchman is totally not as well written, which makes SENSE since it was her first book. bUt I also heard Atticus was awful?!! Should I be really worried?!?!?
I shall DM you… R x
MY SEPTEMBER WAS AMAZING!!!! But it also lasted for two seconds. I mean, what just happened to that month? It started and then BAM, it’s October!
Congrats on 1.5 K followers!!! That’s amazing and you totally deserve it! And here I am, feeling proud that I am 10 away from 500! *hides* *dies*
ATTICUS IS SO ADORABLE!!!!! I just want to pinch his cheeks! Or does he let people so that? Wish him Happy Birthday for me!!!
Let me know how Tiger’s Curse goes, okay? I’ve heard that it’s about Indian mythology, and I am curious!
The Diviners! *sighs* I was so disappointed by the book! It had great potential, but everything was ruined. I blame it on Evie. She’s annoying!
I don’t know what to feel about the ToG TV Series. Obviously, they’re going to ruin the books, and characters, as if SJM hasn’t already done her part in that cause! *sighs* We’ll just see what will happen.
A PHANTOM OF THE OPERA RETELLING???? SIGN ME IN!!! I love that story, and I have an insane love for the phantom! I can’t wait to read this book!!!
AND YOUR BOOK IS GOING TO BE SO EPIC!!! I can’t wait for it to be published so I can read it!!!
ZOMG I AGREE. Ridiculous. Someone is speeding up time I SWEAR THEY ARE.
omg do not hide!! I’ve been blogging for like 4 years, so compared to other blogs my age I’m actually kinda behind. 😛 I DON’T MIDN THOUGH. I mean I blog like a deluded pineapple so I’m always so so excited and wowed whenever someone follows. XD
Mostly everyone in the comments has said Tiger’s Curse is awful SO I’M SUFFICIENTLY WORRIED. I’ll still definitely be reading it though because COVER LOVE.
Yes, Evie was the worst. So irritating. And she didn’t even care about ANYONE but herself.
I just hope they don’t make the ToG TV series into too much like Game of Thrones. I mean Game of Thrones is FAMOUS and has a huge following and all those followers might be super mad *coughs me coughs* if ToG is too similar.
I love all your snippets and just want MOARR!!!
OMG THANK YOU, BEE. 😀 SOON, SOON I PROMISE.
YAY
My September was good because I had holidays. But October is better because a) My birthday is tomorrow, b)I’m going on a really good school trip and c) it’s autumn (You australians have spring. Have fun) But my September was good. I stayed on top of school (don’t talk to me about calculus, though) I’ve heard that tigers curse is very strange about Indian mythology, but we’ll see what you think. I’m currently reading born Confused, which is about Indian Americans- but I don’t really relate (because I’m a non-Hindu Indian-New Zealander who makes sensible life choices, I guess?) I liked that list- and I’d read a lot of them. But it was more about popular than good YA I think. My TBR is overwhelming, mostly because of the YA Scavenger hunt 🙂
Holidays are GLORIOUS. Our parents were away for a bit, so Mime and me have basically had the house to ourselves…which meant so much writing time for me. hehe. OMG HAAAPPY BIRTHDAY!! *sprinkles cake crumbs in your hair*
I shall say nothing about Calculus because I AM NICE. And also I don’t even calculus. I was like a math failure in school. >_>
I’m also only hearing bad things about Tiger’s Curse from the commenters. OOPS?!? I guess this is what happens when I borrow from cover love and don’t check goodreasd first?!?! 😛
That is some intense writing o_O I want to try that someday…but first I intend to read ALL THE BOOKS XD My month was actually pretty good. I have a habit of ditching books I’m not enjoying…which means that the books I do actually “read”/finish are all 4 or 5 star reads! My tbr is 9 books long and I think it’s pretty manageable because I read 8 books last month! (You are a really fast reader by the way!!).
OH and it would be awesome if you could do nanowrimo-related posts like “tips for newbies” or something along the lines of that.
I’ve read 16 of the books on the Buzzfeed list but I just feel like it’s super random..And I don’t really feel like reading most of the books they’ve recommended in the list that I haven’t read yet.. So I guess it’s a NAY! 😛
(Fabulous recap post by the way – I love how your posts are always so engaging & funny!)
YES READING ALL THE BOOKS IS A GRAND GOAL. I HIGHLY WANT TO DO THAT TOOO. I just need 249208 more hours in my day, omg. But it’s good you can ditch books if you don’t like them!! I have this urgent need to finish, even if I hate it. 🙁
Ohhh that is a gREAT post idea and I’ll put it on the to-do list for ASAP! 😀
And I think most of those Buzzfeed recs weren’t even THAT good. I mean, I’d read a lot and liked a lot, but I don’t think they’re all crucial to YA reading, thougH?!?! GAh. I feel like the writer just pulled bestsellers off a list. -_-
OMG THANK YOU I’M SO GLAD YOU LIKE MY POSTS. <3
I CANNOT EVEN EXPLAIN HOW EXCITED I AM FOR PATRICK NESS’ SERIES RIGHT NOW. Like, PATRICK NESS. And DOCTOR WHO. GAFHGHHH. Also, your puppy is the cutest little thing! I have literally just finished reading City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare and I don’t know what to read next. I’ve read through all of the books I own…. so far it’s a draw between Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and The Rest Of Us Just Live Here. IT’S SUCH A HARD DECISION!!!!!
PATRICK NESS IS INCREDIBLE. THAT IS ALL. And ajfdklasd I love the City of Bones series..are you reading more of them!?!?! I think the last 3 are the BEST. Simon is my everything. <3
The Rest of Us Just Live Here is INCREDIBLE. SERIOUSLY BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR BASICALLY.
Wow, that’s a lot of writing! I wish I could do that with fiction – with research stuff, maybe (though not that I have ever written quite that long research papers yet), but not with fiction. I AM DYING TO READ YOUR BOOK THOUGH.
Atticus Bean is ADORABLE! I’ve been away from my puppy (well my parents’ puppy but she will be forever my baby) for a bit over a month now and it is killing me!!! And I still have to wait a month before I get to go home for a couple of weeks. I’ve been trying to skype with her, but she just looks around in confused when I call her name (yes, I am skyping with a dog!)
So managed to read so much and write so much! I AM JEALOUS AND I CONGRATULATE YOU!
Aww, thank you, Milka! 😀 Hopefully when it’s edited up a bit more I can wattpad some of it to get people’s feedback?!?! COULD BE FUN. *chews nails*
Awww, being away from your puppy must be so hard. I can’t even IMAGINE a day without Atticus anymore. Next month I’ll have owned him for a year, so that’ll be awesome. I haven’t been away from him a single night in all that time! 😀 HE IS MY BABY.
My September was interesting, to say the least. I jumped almost three feet on two different horses, I did not write, my puppy turned vicious, and I took forever to get through a couple books. But it could’ve been worse.
I DNFed Tiger’s Curse last year….it was honestly terrible. My TBR is pretty long right now because all the new releases….not long enough, though.
That list is just weird. Most of my favorites are on there, but some are just random and some aren’t even really YA.
OMG CONGRATS ON JUMPING HORSES!! that sounds really hard, actually. And awesome. Omg, your puppy turned vicious?!?! Like badly?!?! Mine got bitten by a big dog (my brother’s big dog, grrrr…he doesn’t live with us, but was visiting and least to say I’m not happy) and now he has a phobia of big dogs. But he’s mostly calmed down about them after he got desexed. But still, I hope your puppy comes good. :'(
aGH. I’ve ONLY heard negative things about Tiger’s Curse now. *facepalm* Serves me write for not checking it out on goodreads before borrowing it. XD
And I agree! I think there are some solid books but…gee, ACTOAR isn’t YA and I wouldn’t call Little Woman YA either. o.O And while some are good I don’t think that makes them “must reads”. o.O
You “wrote a quick book.” You WROTE A QUICK BOOK. Cait, you are insane, and I admire you so much 😛 NaNoWriMo is going to be EXCELLENT once I’ve actually sorted out what I’m writing. Maybe I should start that.
ALSO I CALL FIRST DIBS ON READING YOUR BOOK. #justsaying
YES. I DID JUST DO THAT. No one told me NaNo warmups weren’t a thing. *pouts* Omg, are you doing a post on what you’re going to write?! PWEASE? *puppy dog eyes*
YOU HAVE DIBS ON EVERYTHING I WRITE OF EVER IF YOU WANT IT. 😉
You mastermind! You read tons of books and also wrote a book in less than two weeks. Congrats on all the followers, you definitely deserve your minions 😉 Thanks for linking back to my discussion post!
Aww, thanks, Mel! 😀 It’s exciting and kind of daunting! BUT I LOVE EVERYONE SO THIS IS GREAT!!
SO MUCH CONGRATULATIONS. Especially on book-writing and TBR-clearing — momentous achievements indeed! I’m sorry to hear it was a not-so-good month in terms of book ratings, though. PLEASE DO POST YOUR SNIPPETS. (Ahem, definitely not an advertisement, Snazzy Snippets is still open for a little under a week!) Whether or not you link up, though, I’d love to see more of your writing. And on synopsis- and query-writing especially because those slay me.
OH OH OH I’M GOING TO DO SNAZZY SNIPPETS. It’ll still be open for a few more weeks, right? or just under week. *gulps* I might surreptitiously link up even if it expires. One would THINK I could get organised and do these things on time right? RIGHT? But no. -_-
Synopsis writing is of the devil. BUT I CAN STILL POST MY SUGGESTIONS. *nods*
Oh mo! I’m sad you didn’t like the Diviners. It’s one of my favs! I loved the audiobook. May I ask what you didn’t like about it?
And by oh mo, I mean oh no.
Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t like it!! >_< I really didn't like Evie. I found her...irritating? And I mean, she was spunky and cool and all, but so selfish, and I didn't like how she treated her friends badly and ditched them when they weren't useful to her. 🙁
No need to feel sorry! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I definitely agree with your viewpoint on Evie. She wasn’t my fave either (I really liked Memphis), but the others, I think, kept it interesting and diverse.
How does one write a fantasy book in 10 days? Teach me your ways, Cait. Seriously though…
I AM ACTUALLY OCTOPICAIT AND HAVE 8 ARMS AND THAT IS THE SECRET OF EVERYTHING.
DUDE YOUR PUPPY IS THE MOST ADORABLEEEE!
AND DUDE YOU WROTE A BOOK IN 9 DAYS?!!!!!??? LIKE…….
ok I need to stop with the caps lock. xD BUT THAT IS AMAZING! Congrats on that, and on reaching 1.5k! *gives you chocolate cake to celebrate* you should be so proud of yourself, girl!
BUT CAPS LOCK IS MY LANGUAGE SO FEEL FREE TO CAPS LOCK ME FOREVER. *NODS* And hehe, yesss…I’m a bit intense?!?! An over achiever?!? *eats all the chocolate celebratory cake*
Your dog is very fluffy and cute. At the risk of offending my own puppy, I really want to cuddle yours. :p also, I love the name Atticus Bean! I know you’ve mentioned it before, but I just can’t remember — where does the “Bean” part of his name come from?
My tbr is pretty manageable at the moment, but pleasingly large! I’m trying to read some of the original (or if not original, at least close) tales about King Arthur (because I love the show Merlin,) and I’ve checked out a few fiction and nonfiction books on deaf characters and culture as research for my next book. 🙂
The Bean is from Ender’s Game…Ender’s friend, Bean. BECAUSE REASONS. <3 And idek it just sounded perfect together, hehe. I basically just call him Atticus. Actually I call him Cactus and I don't even know why. But he responds?!?!
Oh yay for manageable TBRS!! *hi fives* we so got this. We are organised. XD Omg, you're writing a deaf character?!?! If you find any excellent books can you recommend them to me?!?! Because I have a deaf character and am terrified I'm not writing her right. >_<
I’m not too happy about Throne of Glass becoming a TV show. It’s all so perfect in my head and then they are going to murder my mental image of literally every character and then when I read it again, nothing will be the same as before. Long story short: I don’t want a Throne of Glass TV show (or a movie for that matter).
The Buzzfeed list has some good books on it that I would recommend myself but others are like… why is this here…?
AGH YES. that is literally the struggle when they convert things to TV/movies right?! That is my feelings for The Scoprio Races. DON’T RUUUUUIN MY BABY. *sobs*
That’s how I felt for the Buzzfeed list too!! I mean I LOVED some of them, but others..well, they were good, but not like “must reads” or anything?!? So weird.
DOCTOR WHO SPIN OFF??? Oh my gosh, if it is not about the Paternoster gang I will be SO MAD (but I’ll still watch it anyways. ’cause, Doctor Wh0). And about the Marvel thing; their comics are super diverse. Yes, their movies are less so, but there’s going to be a Captain Marvel movie (who’s a woman), a Black Panther movie (who’s African American), so they’re at least trying to get better. Now DC on the other hand…
And a book about assassins? Gah I need it. //whispers I volunteer to be a beta reader. Y’know, if you need one.
Ah yes, the comics ARE more diverse, I agree with that. XD hehe. Although my library has an abysmal collection and NONE OF THE GIRL ONES GAH. But I do blame them not Marvel for that. 😛 And I just think we should’ve had the Captain Marvel movie YEARS AGO. Also a Black Widow movie…*Growls* Dc is just a loss. >_>
Omg, omg you are the nicest thing of ever!! *tackle hugs you* It will need MANY edits but I’ll come begging to you when it’s done, okay??!
Monthly fury, yay! I love these posts! 😀
D’AAAW ATTICUS BEAN IS ADORBZZZZ. ^_^
Pwetty tiger cover. o.o Fantasy. Yesh.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH YOU WROTE AN 85K BOOK IN 9 DAYS!!! Allow me to flail. AAAAAAHHH IT’S FANTASY AND HEISTY AND HILARIOUS OH MY WORD CAAAAAAAAAAIIIIT I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!! Words and exclamation marks fail me. Fantasy is INDEED everything. SO MUCH LOVE. And and heists. And that’s a hilarious snippet and I adore it and love the character and the book already. CAIT. I. NEED. TO. READ. THIS. SO BAD!!!! AWLEKJFSLKJFLKSDJFLKJFLKJDFLASKHG;ALKSDJF I haven’t been so excited in a very long time! EEEEP!
YES YES POST ABOUT ALL THE WRITING THINGS AND MORE SNIPPETS HUZZAH
I seem to be a caps-lock-ish person today. You just excite me so much. ^_^
YES OMG YES FANTASIES AND HEISTS!!!! IT’S JUST EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED TO WRITE ABOUT, TBH, WHICH IS WHY I KEEP GETTING SOOO EXCITED ABOUT IT AND AFJDKSLAD DASKJLAJ I HOPE IT’S AS GOOD AS I FEEL IT IS HAHAAHA. You know how sometimes books feel really good and then you look at them again and they’re horrific messes? YUP. That will probably be me now. XD
CAPS LOCKS IS MY LANGUAGE. <3
Your puppy!!! He is so cute and his name is adorable and can I just come and love him up?!?1?!? In that picture, specifically his eyes and the way he’s looking, he looks so much like my dog! Only my dog doesn’t like the camera because she can be a little stinkerpoo lol (and she has black fur).
How do you find the time to read so many books and write an 85k “quick book”?! I’ve only got 5 books read, plus 7k words written in the month of September 😲 Though to be fair, I have been reading a lot slower lately for some reason, and there has been many days that I didn’t write at all.
I agree on that “tips for newbies” post for nano because I’d decided to take the plunge and just go for it this year! It’s scary and I’m trying to get the first draft done this month so I can work on my second draft during nano, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to make that happen. We’ll see, though 😀
Also, congratulations on 1.5k followers, too!
Squee, thank you Ember!! 😀 *flails about and throws confetti* PUPPY IS JUST MY MOST ADORABLEST THING AND HE KNOWS IT AND USES IT TO HIS ADVANTAGE TO GET EXTRA FOOD. Oh but he is very hard to take photos of. That is like my #49308 photo attempt. -_- I think he was 1000% done with me by that point. He’s half schnauzer and half poodle. *nods* I LOVE HIM BUT HE’S CHEEKY.
I do have a lot of time…and I like had a few weeks off this month, so that’s how I squeezed in the writing so fast. 😀
Omg, a tips for newbie NaNos will be SO FUN! I WILL DO THAT! 😀
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who wishes they could still pull the ol’ “my mom said no” card out of their pocket once in a while! For some reason “it’s my cat’s birthday” isn’t considered a valid excuse. Darn it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ATTICUS BEAN! What a cutie pie. On a semi-related note, I haven’t yet read GSAW but I wasn’t aware of the bad press! Now I’m really undecided about reading it. 🙁
WHY NOT?!?! Pet’s birthdays so NEED to be valid excuses, dangit. I pull out the “my puppy is too little and needs me to be with him always” card and don’t tell people he’s like 1 year old. He’s a tiny baby puppy. He needs me.
You didn’t hear all the GSAW debacles?!? There are a lot of unhappy opinions and about Atticus is AWFUL and I am so worried/sad. D:
HARRY POTTER BY JIM DALE IS ON YOUR TO-LISTEN LIST. You know this makes me extremely happy. 😀 I hope his lovely voice makes the book easier for you to read.
“tipes of wrigthers there is?” — Wow, that is embarrassing. You definitely need to write a “Top 10 Problems of Being an Adult” post. But don’t you know you can still blame your parents when you don’t want to socialize? Just say you promised to eat dinner with them or something. I use that excuse all the time, haha.
I’m actually horrified that A Court of Thorns and Roses is on the “must-read YA books” list. WTF. I’m restraining myself from going on yet another rant about that book, but I am fuming right now.
Congrats on your book! Fantasies are great, so I’m excited.
I read a ton of great books last month and only a few terrible ones, so I can’t complain. I have way too many books to read in October, though. I’m a bit overwhelmed.
YES, SEE? I LISTENED TO YOU!! 😀 And once I finished A Dance with Dragons (I’m halfway through, omg that book is a beast) I SHALL BE READY. I’m like 99% sure this is gonna improve my HP feelings. ^_^
And *whispers* I do still blame my parents for everything, or my next go-to is “I’M SICK”. I also got a high maintenance dog specifically so I could say “I can’t leave my dog for more than, like, 10 minutes, so make your socialising quick.” Because he’s a puppy. And needs 24/7 attention obviously. #legit
YES. THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT. I mean, I didn’t loathe the book, but it’s not even really YA. It’s like steamy NA and it’s wildly inappropriate kinda in terms of messages it sends. o.O I’m so glad I have you to have SJM rants with. :’) YOU WONDERFUL BEAN.
I can’t wait to hear how it goes!
Lol, I use “I don’t feel well” as excuse to go home and read ALL THE TIME. XD
Yes, always happy to rant about SJM with you. 😀 And I’m strangely okay with being called a “bean.”
Two books, Cait!? What! How can that be? *hint* Library Blood Red Road.
I saw that Mad About the Hatter cover and was like, “I want to read that! It’s beautiful and it’s Alice and Wonderland!” But my next thought, “Guess it, she’s going to say it’s a terrible book.” And you did. 🙁 That makes me sad.
OH WOW! YOU’RE TELLING ME A G HOWARD HAS A PHANTOM RETELLING COMING OUT!!? I must haves it! But not until 2017? No, no. What is the hype worth if it has to last two years? I am an easily distracted person; I can’t remember something for two years. Why do authors announce books so early? Do they like playing with my emotions? Aaagh!
Your puppy is so adorable! Happy Birthday to him.
You’re going to do a snippet post? Yes! And I love your writing posts. Please, yes, do them all!
Congrats on the followers! And congrats on finishing a book!
Omg, YES. I need to do that!! It’s actually always on the shelf, I’ve noticed, so I’ll try to remember to get it on Thursday. Thursday is library day. ^_^
And yes, Mad About the Hatter is completely a waste of time. 🙁 I mean, it’s really kiddie? But then it’s REALLY heavily romantic?! And I just couldn’t fit those together in my mind. You can’t have an MG tone and then be super steamy, imo.
AG HOWARD IS THE WRITER OF ALL THE GLORIOUS THINGS. But omg, I know right?! 2017 and we probably won’t get a cover for yeeears and omg. It’s worth crying about.
i’m 500% you’re not a human or you don’t sleep because how do you manage to finish 21 books, write a novel, AND keep up with your blog. you say you had a bad reading month, but you read more books this past month than i have this past year! (well, sorta. i’m pathetic.) also your novel sounds EPIC!! pleeaaaaase bless us by giving some more snippets. a heist? assassins?? I NEED. also, happy birthday to your dog!!
I AM OCTOPICAIT. I HAVE 8 ARMS AND THIS IS HOW I TYPE SO FAST. #legit And yesss, more snippets coming soon!! I am just so excited about this book I need to blather. XD hehe. AJFDKLASD THANK YOU FOR YOUR NICE WORDS THOUGH. <3
First off, congrats on completing a *quick* book and hitting 1.5k followrrs on Bloglovin!! and also you may think reading 21 books in a month is meh but I say GIRL YOU ARE A TROOPER. I barely reached 15 books last month *cries* so no… no better luck D:
Happy birthday to Atticus Bean too. He is one little cutie, he is. Did you name him after a character in The Mockingbird? XD
As for Buzzfeed news on what readers should read.. I don’t mind that at all. Recs are always great! 😀
damn, you also ask a looot of questions. My head is a jumbled mess, Cait xD
But I love this feature. I think I’m going to go on a stalker mode and read all about this feature. Mwahaha
YAAAY THANK YOU!! 😀 It has definitely been an exciting month! MILESTONES GALORE. 😀 And ys yessss, he’s after Atticus Finch, and also Bean from Ender’s Game because I love Bean. NERD REFERENCES FTW.
I’m seriously tempted to do my version of the Buzzfeed post. XD I will probably just recommend like 924082 Maggie Stiefvater books and everyone will groan. *sigh*
“I’M TOO PRETTY TO DIE.” *struggling to pick self up from ground because I fell onto the floor because laughing too much*
I am so envious that you can finish writing something in 9 days. Like, please, spread the magic, Cait.
THE MAGIC IS ALL MINE, MWAHHAHAA. *ahem* But truly, it’s all in the plotting! I have it pretty detailed-ly (omg what even is grammar. what is english.) plotted out and then I just GO FOR IT and write until I can’t feel my hands.
It sounds like you had an awesome month. I’m hopefully going to read The Game of Love and Death in October. I’ve wanted to read it since it came out, and now I finally have time.
It is INCREDIBLE and I hope you like it!! I need to review it sometime because afjsdklaf all the shipping feels. :’)
I JUST WROTE A BLOOMING LONG COMMENT AND THEN IT DISAPPEARED SJUHDFBKEJDSXMJNHBDFGNZM.
*tries again*
EVERY TIME I SEE THE WORD NOVEL IN A BLOG POST TITLE I AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME YOU’VE WRITTEN A NOVEL, it’s not even surprising anymore BUT SHEESH HOW DO YOU DO IT?! are you human? how can you write 85K in 9 days without getting serious hand-cramp/getting bored/running out of ideas/procrastinating and getting side tracked by social meda. or family or food? DO YOU PLAN OUT THE WHOLE BOOK BEFORE YOU START? DO YOU BREATHE AT ANY POINT? OR DO YOU JUST TYPE REALLY FAST?!
I have questions Cait, and i need them to be answered.. 😛
MGGG. REALLY!?!? I AM SO SAD. If it was my blog’s fault, consider it duly glared at. D: (And also thank you for commenting again anyway! <3 You are the stuff of awesomeness.)
No, I am not human. I am OCTOPICAIT and have many arms and can write fast with all of them at once. Family and socialisation? Pfft. What is that. I don't need it. AND YES I DO PLAN OUT THE WHOLE BOOK BEFORE I START. That is the key. If I know exactly where I’m going, it’s actually not that hard to get up to 10K days regularly. *nods* I do not breath tho. No need for that nonsense.
Reasons Why Cait Has More Followers Than Me:
1.) She actually posts.
2.) She’s sort of really awesome.
3.) Sometimes she feeds us cake. (I totally almost wrote cait instead of cake and made myself giggle.)
Wow, you have a freakish about of followers, though, congratulations. 🙂
That picture of your puppy looks like he did something he shouldn’t have. Like, “IF I GIVE HER THE PRETTY EYES SHE WON’T DROP KICK ME ACROSS THE ROOM!” …. or is that just me?
WOW YOU WRITE BOOKS FAST, NO WONDER YOU’RE TERRIFIED OF EDITING.
…………..
……..
WAIT SCORPIO RACES IS BEING MADE INTO A MOVIE? OOOOOOOOH MYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOSH. I’M EXCITE. I’M SO EXCITE. *dances in the street* Wait….. It’s gonna be a movie? I’M AFRAID. I’M SO AFRAID. I’M SCARED TO DEATH.
I dunno, I vacillate because on one hand, SCORPIO RACES, but on the other hand…. SCORPIO RACES. Uuuuuuuuugh. I’m confused and they better do a good frikken job, mkay? MKAY.
okay bai.
Reasons Why Treskie is Still More Fabulous Than Me:
1. She is insanely talented.
2. She is an encyclopedia of weirdness
3. SHE IS HILARIOUS AND WONDERFUL.
#bestlistever
NO IT IS NOT JUST YOU. ATTICUS ALWAYS LOOKS VAGUELY GUILTY. He looks sooo guilty if he’s doing something he should do. Like stealing shoes, eating origami, licking my bookcase…*Sigh* But those puppy dog eyes. Like how even do I get mad? (I think he’s also ticked off at me for disturbing his slumber and taking photos.)
THAT’S EXACTLY HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE SCOPRIO RACES. OMG THAT BOOK IS MA BABY, THEY BETTER NOT MESS IT UP OR I’M GOING TO GO OVER THERE AND SHAKE SOME PEOPLE AND BE MILDLY UPSET.
Atticus Bean is the sweetest thing, that is all.
HE IS. And he knows it and uses it to his advantage to get extra lunch. xD
HOW ARE YOU NOT SUPERWOMAN LIKE LITERALLY I THINK YOU ARE SO THERE I JUST DECIDED IT’S OVER YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.
you are superwoman. hello.
Like, how did you even write a book in NINE DAYS?!? Whoa. Just… wow. You’re a beast. That is amazing.
And MORE SNIPPETS, PLEASE!! And how do you blog so perfectly and so frequently? Gawwwsshh.
You’re my hero.
Seriously.
love,
abbiee
I PROBS AM SUPERWOMAN OR SOMETHING. OR MAYBE THE BAT WOMAN. Tbh, I’m sitting here in an Avengers teeshirt soooo I’M SURE THAT COUNTS. I worked out on some days I wrote for like 5+ hours. o.O So that is intense. XD I swear the rest of the book is a MESS though! You’re only seeing the little edited snippets, hehe.
You read 21 books and you wrote 85k all in one month?!?!?! You’re my new hero. I didn’t have very good reading luck in September, but I feel good about my TBR for October. And seriously I’m going to buy myself that office chair I need so that I can stop making excuses about why I’m not writing. You have put me to shame!
I AM A LITTLE BIT INTENSE, I KNOW. XD hehe Ahh, I want an office chair one day….I want an office. I know one is supposed to write on their bed for posture reasons but…I always write on my bed. XD
I haven’t read anything by Patrick Ness (YET) but that’s awesome he has a Doctor Who spin-off show…I love Doctor Who. Wow, you wrote SO SO MUCH in just 9 days. I couldn’t do that. haha I’m not good at writing tons all at once; I really do need to start writing more though.
-Lauren
I neeeed to at least try Doctor Who! I NEED KNOW WHAT THE FUSS IS ABOUT. I am only okay with writing tons at once. XD If I take too long, I forget what even is the point of my book. 😛
Bad reading months make me sad. 🙁
Love that snippet from your novel. 😉 Tea is truly evil. I wish I could work out how to write as fast as you.
My TBR is overwhelming essentially because it is my reading list plus Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes. I haven’t written for a week barring last night because I’ve been REALLY busy with freshers’ week but I’ve made a writetrack account and am going to get back on track.
You grow MORE HANDS. Seriously. Just grow another 2 or 10 and you write so fast. I promise this is the secret.
AHH you just reminded me I need to reserve Greek Gods from the library. I AM OFF TO DO THIS ASAP. Because Percy Jackson. That is all. Ohh, what is a writetrack account? That sounds immensely fun.
It’s a site that you can use to set goals/track your writing progress year round.
Go Set a Watchman is a really great conversation piece; not a great book, but fantastic for discussion.
Ohhh, that is an incredibly interesting way to put it. XD
My September had it’s ups and downs…overall I’d say it was okay. You’re September on the other hand, sounds like it was amazing! A novel in 9 days? That’s so fabulous. 😀 I didn’t have a good reading month either, but hey you did read more books than me. I only read 13. lol
I’ve heard of Tiger’s Curse, and actually the book is in my house but I’m waiting for my cousin to finish it before reading it. Though honestly since I read faster I should just steal it and read it. 😉
My TBR is overwhelming right now. I have 10 books waiting for me right now…And they’re all ebooks so I am just kinda avoiding them. Something about ebooks just turns me off sometimes.
I do pick up a lot of books because of cover love…lol I know I shouldn’t but I do. Because covers man…GAH. 😀
And I didn’t like the buzzfeed list, I think you could do much much better than they did. 🙂
It WAS amazing in the writing aspect! Reading…not so much with all those 2 stars but STILL I HAD SOME INCREDIBLE 5-STARS IN THERE TOO, SO THAT MADE EVERYTHING BETTER. :’) Also 13 is still incredible! GO YOU, ABI.
*whispers* Also I’ve just been flat out but I’m replying to your email ASAP!!
I’m actually hearing everyone saying Tiger’s Curse is terrible! *chews nails nervously*
OMG ME TOO ABOUT EBOOKS!! I have to be in an ebook mood to attempt them. When I finish off my last few books on my TBR I’m going to tackle my ereader and my Netgalley books. Even if they only come out in 2016. Shhh. It’s not too early.
True. Lots of 2 star books can be sad. 🙁
Thanks! At least I was reading something. lol
Oh okay! No worries, no hurries. 😀 I can’t wait to get it when it comes. 😀
Oh dear? Yikes, well maybe I’ll wait till you finish it before I try to read it.
YES. Getting in the ebook zone can be hard sometimes. But I do love NetGalley. It’s never too early. 😉
I haven’t read Tiger’s Curse, but it seems to be very snarkable; I’ve read some very entertaining negative reviews of this author’s books (more entertaining than the books themselves, I suspect).
The Buzzfeed list… bah. It’s just based on Goodreads ratings, which mean nothing, really. Some of those books are amazing… but some are just plain awful (and not even in a matter-of-taste sort of way… they’re badly written/edited or unoriginal). Everyone could make a similar list of their own, and I can almost guarantee that no two lists would have the exact same set of books!
I read some okay books in September, but I had a DNF, too, which I don’t like. Giving up feels like failure… even if it is to protect your sanity!
OMg. *hides book under 9 hundred blankets* I’m ONLy hearing horrible things about it in the comments! CONSIDER ME SUFFICIENTLY WORRIED.
And yes, you’re totally right. Anyone can write a list like that. I just thought some were ridiculous to be pitched as “must reads”. Like A Court of Thorns and Roses?!?! I mean, I liked it, but it’s not a MUST READ. Same with Shatter Me. I mean, really?!?!?
DNFs always make me sad too. 🙁
September was SO overwhelming! I barely had any time to blog, or even relax. School is cruel. -_-
CONGRATS ON SO MANY VICTORIES: 1.5K is a helluva lot of people 0_O and writing a story in any number of days is an incredible feat so writing one in nine days?! :O
ALSO PATRICK NESS IS WHAT. WHAT WHAT WHAT. I think I just died and went to heaven. THIS is what you call a Good Thing in Life (apart from food) and also ISN’T ATTICUS ADORABLE. I WANT TO SQUEEZE HIM.
*shakes fist at school* It can be so soul consuming, right?! Overwhelming is not good though, I hope you get a chance to relax soon. 🙁
So basically I NEED find out what all this Doctor Whoness is about so I’m ready for when his series comes out, right!!?? AGh. I am so behind on so many fandom things.
I checked out the YA list, and nearly died from screaming (and scared my mother to death.) But it was totally excusable because THE FALSE PRINCE WAS ON THE LIST OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM you can read the rest of the comments. i’ll still be screaming by the time you get back MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
MGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, besides my favorite book ever (not exaggerating) being on the list, holy cow! how do you write a novel in nine days? YOU HAVE AMAZED ME! and 85k too. And I totally understand the need to run away from revisions. Heck, I’m avoiding them right now. And patrick ness has a TV series? Dr. who Related!?! My worlds are colliding, no one wake me.
I FEEL LIKE YOU’RE MILDLY EXCITED ABOUT THE FALSE PRINCE AND THIS IS AWESOME BECAUSE THAT BOOK IS AWESOME SO LET ME JOIN WITH YOU IN SQUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!
!
*AHEM*
Fantasy IS everything!!! 🙂
WE ARE IN AGREEMENT ON THIS.
AHH. Congratulations on finishing your book Cait – and in nine days no less. That’s incredible and should be celebrated with an immense amount of cake. *nods* And I just got The Diviners from the library to see how my thoughts compare to yours. (Let’s not pretend to be surprised if our thoughts are identical, right? 😉 ) It’s a shame this wasn’t really a strong reading month for you, but I’m glad you had at least a few standouts (Made You Up and The Game of Love and Death are both so, so fantastic, right?) Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous recap! ♥
YES. Immense cake. Chocolatey. Preferably with ice cream. *drools over laptop* AHEM. Anyway…I’m uber interested to see what you think of The Diviners. AND YES. It’ll be awesome if we’re identical on this too. XD And the month is just infinitely better with Made You Up and Game of Love and Death in it. INFINITELY. :’) Some of my favourites of this year, tbh.
those search results never disappoint me. I think they’re the favorite part of your entire blog.
I THINK OF YOU WHILE I WRITE THEM UP NOW. XD
YAY that makes me happy XDDDDD
Good reading month was September, but not good sleeping month because CLASSES. I haven’t read Tiger’s Curse because I’ve read it’s very ignorant in the Indian culture, aaaaand it’s not as if I’m intrigued anymore. The cover really is pretty, though. Also… you may be interested… I AM READING THE GAME OF LOVE AND DEATH SOON. Cake for me? 😛
OMG. THIS IS A WORRY. *pokes at Tiger’s Curse with a long pole* I’m hearing only negative things in the comments here…but I’ll still give it a go?!? I mean COVER LOVE. But dodgy writing is not fun. *sigh*
YES CAKE FOR YOU. ALL THE CAKE FOR YOU. HAVE YOU STARTED IT YET? OMG, VANE, GO READ THE FIRST PAGE OR SOMETHING. IT’S BEAUTIFUL.
So, we have much to talk about here! HOW is the cutie puppy one already!? That doesn’t even seem possible. He is still as adorable as ever though! It’s crazy that 21 books is BAD for you, because for most of the literate world, it would be fabulous. As for these books.. well, I am so glad I keep resisting the urge to buy The Diviners just because it is on sale. It doesn’t ever sound like something I’d like AND it’s long. PASS. You DO need to get to the library. With the speed you read at, you’ll be out of books before I hit “post comment”!
I haven’t watched Doctor Who either but… with Patrick Ness at the helm, it’s a no brainer. He could have posted “Hi, I’ll be making a television show about my commentary on paint drying” and I would be all over it.
Also, YAY for writing a book in 9 days!! It sounds FABULOUS, I am so proud of you!! 😀 I wrote… a few pages in 9 days. Does that count? No? It probably wasn’t even a few pages. It was like, 900 words. BUT it is more than I wrote during the entirety of NaNo so… there’s that? Also, can we please meet these people who are searching and landing here? Like, really. Maybe they can do a few guests posts, because I feel like that would be wildly entertaining. Let’s get on that, okay?
I KNOW. WHERE DID THE TIME GO. I swear he was as big as my shoe yesterday and now he’s eaten all my shoes and I’m destined to be barefoot forever. (Well, this means I can’t leave the house, so I guess I’m not crying? #hermitforever) Mostly everyone seems to love The Diviners, but not my buddy reading group?!?! Haha, it was interesting that we all loathed it though and I think 2 of us didn’t even FINISH.
BASICALLY YES. PATRICK NESS = READ/WATCH EVERYTHING. I think paint drying by him would be incredibly interesting. Paint drying is not the chosen one, after all.
It does count. Come now. 9 pages in 9 days is still something.
So…umm….I’ll be interested to see what you think of Tiger’s Curse, because I…umm…hated it…
I mean, a lot of people like it, and it’s about India and stuff, which was interesting, but I couldn’t stand the characters.
Or the writing.
Or most of it, really, but I HOPE YOU LIKE IT I really do!
AND OH MY GOSH YOUR PUPPY IS SO CUTE!!! I could look at pictures of other peoples’ puppies forever.
EVERYONE IS HATING IT. OMG WHAT HAVE I DOOOOOOONE. *collapses sobbing* I mean, I’ll try it, but I might need to be prepared to not like it?!?! I’m so sad. That cover is everything.
PUPPY PICTURES FTW!!
Colleen Houck (Tiger’s Curse author) came and spoke at my middle school last year, because her nephew was an 8th grade student. Also, possibly, in order to push her book. But she was incredibly generous about donating her time (2 large group presentations and a writing workshop for 50 kids) and books (she gave them away by the handful). Super interesting to hear her talk about how she came up with her book. Also, I was at an English teachers’ conference today, and attended a panel discussion on “de-gendering” books, which mostly comes down to getting boys to read “girls'” books. I remembered how her talk got both boys and girls interested in reading her books. Having cool tigers and what-not on the cover instead of girls in foofy dresses might also help with that.
As for the book itself–well, I got bored about 1/3 of the way in and gave up. But my students love it!
ALSO, one of the panel members today was the author of The Game of Love and Death, so now I’ve heard of it twice in one day and must get it. She was super smart and funny in person; definitely stood out.
Omg, she sounds super nice!! FREE BOOKS! And I completely agree with de-gendering books, too. *nods* It always makes me mad when books are blatantly pitched for one certain sex. ALTHOUGH. Society is the one that’s decided that boys can’t read pink books. So it’s just all kinds of messed up. *sighs*
I’ve heard pretty doubtful things about Tigers Curse in the comments, hehe. I AM WORRIED. 😉
CONGRATS ON A WELL-DESERVED MILESTONE, CAIT! 1.5k followers… Holy cow, that’s a lot of minions.
And HOW do you have a manageable TBR?! I probably have 100-150 unread physical books, and probably another hundred eBooks. Maybe I’m just a slow reader… 21 books is a TON! I don’t even want to check Goodreads because I’m sure I did horribly this month. T_T And I’m so glad you enjoyed Made You Up because that book is GLORIOUS. And Magnus Chase is coming out soon…. *grabby hands* Have an awesome October, Cait!
YES IT IS. That’s a lot of cake baking. *rolls up sleeves* I HAVE WORK TO DO.
Omg, I don’t even know. XD I’ve been very reserved this year with limiting what I request and how much of the library I eat at once. But, gee, next year doesn’t loook good. FAR TOO MANY PRETTIES COMING SOON. And Made You Up was just because halleljuah awesome and I cannot love it enough.
OK.
*takes deep breath”
1. YOUR PUPPY IS ADORABLE
2. YES SOMEONE WHO SHARES MY TOG EXPERIENCE [frankly, i’ve given up on it 🙁 ]
3. ENOUGH WITH THESE SNIPPETS YOU EVIL AMAZING WRITER
NO WAIT
i want more snippets, but, but, the BLOOMING MARVELLOUSNESS IS TOO MUCH CAIT
4. I’m British, i know sarcastic when i see it, that person was most definitely faking 😉
1. I AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT OBVIOUSLY.
2. OMG YOU TOO?!!? LET US HUG AND STAND TOGETHER SINCE WE ARE PRETTY MUCH ALONE IN THIS. :’)
3. I WILL GIVE MORE SNIPPETS SOON BECAUSE I’M A BENEVOLENT WORLD RULER. *nods*
4. Omg and I’m Australia so I see through it too. Whoever that googler was, they were NOT having a good time.
I had amazing september ( I got married, yay 🙂 ) and managed to resist the temptation of all those amazing ARCs and decided to read books that has been on my TBR for a long time instead.
And what do you say about The Game of Love And Death? One of the best books you have read this year? I need to finally read it, it has been on my kindle for weeks!
Bts, congrats on 1.5K followers 🙂
OMG CONGRATS ON BEING MARRIED!! *sprinkles confetti in your hair* YAAAAAY!!! And also: I admire your resolve so so much. I have been evilly sneaking on Netgally FAR too much. I need to finish off some older series!! I DO.
OHHhhhh yes The Game of Love and Death is EVERYTHING. And I randomly posted a pic on tumblr and the author thanked me!! SHE IS SUPER NICE! (I didn’t even tag her or anything, but, she was just sooo nice. :’) SO YAY.
YOUR BOOKS SOUND SO AMAZING. I seriously, seriously, seriously want your books to be on the shelves in bookstores because they look so interesting and funny and GAH. Speaking of that, I need to start planning my NaNo novel…I was thinking of doing a fantasy/sci-fi book or a contemporary, so we’ll see! ;D
ALSO, JUST LOOK HOW ADORABLE ATTICUS IS. I can’t believe he’s a year already! They grow up so fast. *wipes away tear*
FJKADLSFD ZOMG THIS JUST MAKES MY DAY, KYRA, THANK YOU. I need to get planning for NaNo too. O.O I mean, I have a vague outline??! But clearly I need pinterest all the things. *nods* This is VERY important to NaNo prep.
I do borrow/buy books mostly for their covers. Like, that’s honestly the first thing I think about, and I save my kindle (mostly) for books whose covers I reject and despise. But I’m super excited about your book–I love the snippets that you’ve shared so far, and when/if you want a beta reader for it, I happily volunteer (although I totally understand if you have other people in line already *sobs*). This month has been a weird reading month for me. I’m still trying to adjust to my new job and all the preparations for moving and whatnot, so I haven’t read all that many books. Fortunately, the books I have read have been mostly good, so that’s nice. And…I bought Throne of Glass! I know that Queen of Shadows made you fall out of love with the series, and I’m worried that’ll happen to me as well when I finally get around to it, but Throne of Glass just looks so good. XD And I’m excited about the TV series, at least for now, so there’s that.
OH GOOD. Not just me. PHEWF. I totally was just perusing fantasy books and was like “Yup. That one is pretty. It’s a goer.” I mean, who even cares about content? Bah. (This maaaay be why I end up reading so sucky books??!)
OMG YOU ARE SO NICE!! 😀 I will definitely come begging to you for betaing someday!! IT NEEDS SO MUCH WORK THOUGH, OMG. It’s like a mess of messes. I had a scene where I changed their outfits like 5 times just because I couldn’t decide what they needed to wear in order to be stabbed efficiently. (I have problems.) And I always add in character midway that aren’t in the beginning and *waaaaails* BUT SOMEDAY I WILL EDIT!! I SWEAR!!
Oh but I hope you really like Throne of Glass! The first two books are still the most glorious things I’ve ever read. XD
the amount of books you read every month never cease to surprise me! im so jealous. i just wish i had the time to read that much books but its impossible when you’re in senior year.
oh my god you didnt like the diviners? i was actually thinking of reading but if you didnt like it im a bit nervous if ill like it too. i mean, i do trust your opinion.
congrats on writing a book in 9 days! I’ve never actually written a book but I really want to someday. I just need to find something to write about…
september was a very busy month for me. school-wise. i only get to read on the weekends because i never have the time. i am buried in work, help! i did go to three signings this month tho. louise o’neill, sarah crossan & jandy nelson heh.
i hope your october will be as epic <333
xxx isha
Agh, I hear ya, I hear ya. My little sister is in senior year and I keep saying “HEY READ THIS BOOK” and she hasn’t even read a single ONE this year because no time. :'(
Awww, I feel pretty honoured that you trust my opinion! HONOURED BUT NERVOUS. hahaa. I thought the narrator was uber irritating and I don’t think she ever learnt from any of her irritatingness?! If that makes sense…>_>
OMMMMGGGG YOU MET JANDY NELSON??!?! *dies*
Okay, so 1. the twitter conversation is ace and I can say that without having ever read either’s work.
2. Your puppy is gorgeous. In case you needed someone else to affirm that. Mine, I think, may be close on the opposite in temprement, though. She likes getting up early, would pull me out onto walks if she could, and is fairly content to sleep whilst I work. Although the staring. The staring can get to one.
3.Your book you wrote in 9 days (WHAT EVEN CAIT) sounds awesome, and I’m loving your snippets. One could make hysterical sounds at the fact you did a warm up for NaNo. Because such a thing is possible. *weeps*
xx
I know right?!?! DEREK LANDY IS EVERYTHING. I love authors who write hilarious books AND are truly hilarious in real life. XD
And yes, my puppy is gorgeous and he knows it and uses it to his advantage when he’s evil. Like how can I be mad at that face?? Seriously. I can’t.
YES. I DIDN’T REALISE NANO WARM UPS WEREN’T A THING. *sigh* One day I’ll be normal I swear…
Hey, if it means you’re creating more incredibly things? I don’t think anyone is going to try and make you stop. We should all be creating the things we love!
Made You Up was my favorite book read this month too!! (or at least one of them). Your puppy is so incredibly cute. My dog is not a morning person either. I have to drag her out of bed. She eats breakfast, goes outside briefly to use the bathroom, then comes back in and sleeps for five hours. THEN she’s ready to play and go for a longer walk. Ha.
Ohhh, so it’s not just my dog?! WELL THAT’S A RELIEF. He also gets moody without his morning nap. -_-
I am so in awe of you, Cait. What the actual heck?! You wrote an 85K book in . . . 9 DAYS?! You’re amazing! Seriously. And I really loved that little quote you shared with us. hope to see your published works sometime soon. Keep writing! 🙂
(p.s. HOW DO YOU READ SO FAST, TOO!?! You’re just all around an amazing human being. I bow down to you.)
*flips hair majestically* I have super speedy fingers.
HAHH BUT SERIOUSLY NOW, OMG, THANK YOU, JULIA ANNE. *hugs you* I hope to see them published one day too!! *crosses fingers* I just type fast!! I write a very detailed outline and I know what’s coming and I just go for it.
N’aww, Atticus Bean is one, wow, thanks gone so so quick! You’ve had such a great reading month, even while writing, and.. The Diviners was – sheesh, so not a me book, so not my kind of thing.. Ugh, sucks. I have been known to borrow books just because they look pretty, whoops? Also, I haven’t heard loads of fabulous things about Tiger’s Curse with it’s diversity and other things like that, BUT, that doesn’t mean you won’t like, just be prepared. I’ve been having such a bad time of reading, but I’m happier, if that makes sense, so I’m not going to let it get to me, you know? HAVE A GREAT OCTOBER CAIT 🙂
I know right?! I USED TO HAVE SUCH A TINY BABY PUPPY AND NOW LOOK AT HIS ADULT FACE. *sniffles*
Yes The Diviners was a HUGE disappointment, right?!?! Well at least I know not to pursue the sequel…ugh.
I haven’t heard ANYTHING about Tiger’s Curse till I asked here and apparently most people hate it. xD AHHHH. I’m in for a rough time I guess?! hehee But as long as it’s interesting, I’m game. XD
THEY’RE MAKING A SCORPIO RACES MOVIE?!?! I don’t know how I feel about this. In fact, I just sent a message to my film guru brother for his professional-ish (he’s still in college…) opinion on the directors. After seeing how brutally butchered Insurgent was by the film industry, I’m leaning towards concerned right now.
I am leaning towards CONCERNED MAJORLY right now. omg. I couldn’t even finish Insurgent because it was so bad. >_>
Ack, Insurgent has ruined us for movie adaptations forever. But you know, Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings all turned out ok….
It is true. There ARE good ones out there. Have you ever seen The Help movie?!?! It’s like one of my all time favourites and SO close to the book. 😀
I haven’t seen The Help in a while, but I do remember liking it very much. And there weren’t many places in the book where I stopped and went, “Wait, they did that wrong in the movie!” Even then, they weren’t huge things either, I don’t think.
Nooooooooooooooooo, not the Scorpio Races; make them leave it alone!! Ok, so a Maggie Stiefvater movie is exciting but some books should be left books, AND WHY ARE THEY TV-ING AND MOVIE-ING ALL THE BOOKS OF EVER!!! *hyperventilates* (Can you tell I’m in love with the Scorpio Races?).
Ohh yes, I have writing-post requests! Maybe a Top Ten NaNo Survival Guide/ Hints and Tips? With Katniss GIFs. Just because.
Buzzfeed’s List are kind of too obvious. Where’s the You’ve Never Heard Of It (No, Really, You Haven’t), But It’s Awesome And Just Go Read It Now, list? I second the idea to have a Cait-Curated list!! Cait Curates YA! Yes!! WIN.
(I can’t add my NaNo link to the Website part of the comment box but it’s http://nanowrimo.org/participants/melanie_jayne )
YES THAT IS WHAT I AM FEELING TOO. *kidnaps precious Scorpio Races baby and runs away with it* I just can’t see how they’ll ever sum up how BEAUTIFUL and INCREDIBLE that book is with a mere movie. The woooords. WE NEED IT JUST IN WORDS. OMG. *hyperventilates*
YES. I can do that. NaNo tips here we come! *starts googling for perfect Katniss gifs*
I added you as a buddy!!
Yes, yes I would totally pick a book based on its cover. Sometimes I will read a book even though it’s not the type of book I wouldl ike if the cover is pretty! 😀
OH GOOD. NOT JUST ME THEN. XDXD
