And I’m finally reading again! I know this will come as a shock (sit down, grab your chair), but I haven’t read a single book for 2 weeks. I’ve read 80 books this year and I did get a little…worn out. SO. I took a break. Wrote a book. Now I’m ready to tackle the ominous TBR. Funny how it builds up when you’re not watching.
I also finished writing my book! 50K in 10 days! I’m very happy. (It’s a Peter Pan retelling…well, you know, if Peter Pan included blood sucking faeries and humans with crow wings and infatuations with cake.) I plan not to look at it ever again. Ha. I’m kidding. Just…I won’t look at it for a while.
I’m linking up with Tynga’s Reviews for the meme Stacking The Shelves! And also Caffeinated Book Reviewer for Sunday Post! Basically: you recount books you’ve won/bought/collected this week.
HUGE thanks to Walker Books for More Than This, because a) gorgeous cover, and b) John Green endorsed this, and c) it sounds fantastic. But I didn’t realise how big it was. What a whopper.
Thank you Bloomsbury for Take Back the Skies and Searching for Sky. Obviously the “sky” is a big deal in the Bloomsbury world right now. (Fair enough.) These worth both surprises, but I’m SO freakishly excited for Take Back the Skies because it’s written by a teen author!!
Thanks Text Publishing for The Minnow. Text runs this yearly competition to get published, see blogglings, and this is the winner of last years. Which is freakishly cool. Also: insane cover love.
Thanks Hot Key Press for Love Letters to the Dead. I’ve seen raving reviews of this one so I’m pretty dang excited.
I borrowed The Dream Thieves from the library and ohhhh my GOSH. I am happy! I’ve wanted this for ages and the library finally got it and huzzah, huzzah my grin is as wide as a Cheshire cat’s.
Aaand I won Dorothy Must Die from Karen @ For What It’s Worth. I’m absolutely dying to start this one. It’s one of my highly-anticipated-reads-of-the-year. It better not disappoint.
And let’s hear it for some intense COVER LOVE! These are my favourite covers of my stack this week. Just too gorgeous not to share.

Congrats on finishing your book! I don’t know how many unfinished short stories and attempted novels I’ve got lying around the place that I don’t have time to deal with! Still, I need to concentrate on reading before the books start breeding again which I’m sure they do…Enjoy your books!
Gah, I know what you mean about TBRs breeding. I had about 3 books on my pile and then I took a break, and now there’s 13. WHAT IS THIS.
Best cover this week! Ehm… I don’t have read that many books…, but the best cover I can think of is the Dutch version of ‘So over it’ (which is called ‘never nooit meer’). You should look it up on the internet. It’s really wonderful ๐
arendedewit.blogspot.com
I looked it up, but I’m not sure if I found it or not. I found SOME Dutch cover that looked awesome. x)
Which?
Huzzah! I think I found it for real this time! Here? http://tinyurl.com/ksuczwm
Ooh some gorgeous covers this week! I seriously read 80 books last year, and I thought to myself ‘Why is she feeling worn out by 80 books LAST year?’ Then I realised that didn’t make sense! But wow. 80. That’s amazing! Pleased to read you’re back reading though! I hope you enjoy your books!
Oh gosh yes. >_< 80 books in 5 months, basically…my eyeballs enjoyed the 2 week reading break. My TBR is punishing me now, though. 13 new books in 2 weeks and I was NOT requesting any, I promise! x)
OMG! The Dream Thieves!! Ronan! the sequel is wonderful. i swear!
and i’ve been hearing good reviews with Love Letters to the Dead! ๐
I AM SO UNBELIEVABLY HYPED FOR THAT BOOK. I have 2 arcs to read first, but then it is all mine in it’s deliciousness. x)
YOUR BLOG LOOKS SO DIFFERENT. I read and hated Love Letters To The Dead and just found it all round insulting, so I’m hoping you guys like it better!
Under The Mountain’s STS
HOW LONG SINCE YOU’VE BEEN HERE?!! Haha! It’s been like this for 2 weeks. But yes. We have changed rather drastically. ๐ Gosh, though a bit worried about Love Letters to the Dead Now. >.<
50K in ten days…that is crazy awesome. I don’t know how you stayed sane. It took me six months to write 100K.
I saw The Dream Thieves at my local library this past week too (Raven Boys was there as well), but I left it there. I’ve been on the fence about starting it, wondering if it’ll live up to the feeling of utter amazement I felt while reading the Mercy Falls series. I know, silly reason, but I don’t want to be let down. I am looking forward to reading Sinner in a few months though.
(The secret is…I am NOT sane.)
I seriously am dyyying to read Sinner. I think I’m going to rush out and just buy it. I actually don’t even own any Maggie Stiefvater books yet she is my favourite all time author. I LOVED the Mercy Falls series, even though I know it gets a bit of flack. But still…ISABEL AND COLE. Also Same and Grace, but mostly Isabel and Cole. XD
Great haul this week! I adore the cover and premise of Dorothy Must Die but all the info I am hearing about the publishers and the deals they make the writers sign for these packaged books has put me off buying it. I recently ordered Love Letters to the Dead and can’t wait for it to finally get here. 80 books in 5 MONTHS?!? How is that even possible? Where do you find the time? I am in awe! AWE!
Yeeeeah, I heard a little about those packaged books and I’m SO confused as to what it actually means. It really freaked me out when I was reading into it and I found a book that was such a rip-off The Hunger Games. So I bailed in my research. I won a “my choice” and I was actually NOT going to get this one, but I still really wanted to read it…sooo yeah. >.<
I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOUR STACK RIGHT NOW. I want to read, like, all of those books ๐
Prettiest cover this week goes to Butter by Erin Lange. Because I’m a simple girl and I like its…simpleness. In other news I borrowed The Raven Boys and Throne of Glass from the local library (they’re good, right?).
My Stacking the Shelves is up tomorrow. I’d already scheduled it before I went to the shops today. Which means there are four books on my TBR that aren’t even in my post tomorrow…maybe I should do this meme more often. SO MANY BOOKS.
Hmm, wonder if I can still request Love Letters to the Dead… ๐
PITY WE DON’T LIVE IN THE SAME TOWN. Dude, I would borrow SO many books from you. It would be awesome. (And then we could go watch the nerdy movies together of awesome…like TFIOS even though you’ve already SEEN it. Lucky duck.) XD
I love how Butter looks like it’d match Dead Ends, on the shelf! It’s sooo tempting me to get it. x) Raven Boys and Throne of Glass? THEY ARE BOTH WICKEDLY GOOD. Raven Boys is a little slow at the beginning, but trust me, keep going. I’m dying about the sequel, but I have to knock over some ARCs first.
(Psst…you should try for Love Letters and then we can compare thoughts.)
Great haul of books! I want them all, well, except for Dorothy Must Die, The Dream Thieves and More Than This which are all sat on my TBR mountain. I’m excited about Take Back the Skies and The Minnow, am definitely going to have pick up copies of both of them soon. Looking forward to hearing what you think of them ๐
The Minnow is just killing me with cover love, I reeeally hope it lives up to the awesome! Take Back the Skies? I’m jumping with excitement. GO TEEN AUTHORS! I was one, until, um…like 4 months ago. Ha!
I haven’t read any of these but happy reading!
Tsuki’s STS
Will do.
I am very excited about Take Back the Skies too! I love the cover, summary, title and that it is written by a teen. Can not wait! Great haul of books. Very curious to read your Dorothy Must Die review. I still haven’t decided yet if I’ll read it.
Eeep! Teen writers are awesome. And I was a teen writer for aaaages until I turned the unimaginative age of 20 just a few months ago. So, yep. I’m really keen to support them! Can’t wait to promote that one. x)
I have Take Back the Skies but haven’t gotten to it yet. You book that you wrote sounds great you had me at Peter Pan and blood sucking fairies!!! LOL Hope you enjoy all your reads.
Stormi
http://www.booksmoviesreviewsohmy.com/stacking-the-shelves-28/
Oh I’m such a sucker for the creepy retellings. I had to try it, too. Though mine needs a LOT of work! lol!
The Dream Thieves is amazing! And Dorothy Must Die looks so good. I hope you enjoy your books, and thanks for stopping by. ๐
Also, your book sounds awesome – who doesn’t love Peter Pan and blood sucking faeries?
I can’t waaaait to start The Dream Thieves. Eeek. (And Peter Pan + blood sucking faeries is like an obvious mix. Totally. xD)
Oh my gosh… I couldn’t believe you hadn’t read a book in two weeks but YOU’VE READ EIGHTY BOOKS SO FAR WHAT. Now I feel like a slacker, with only 61! xD
Dorothy Must Die looks really good!
Heh, I don’t really really loooong books though. I mean, some are 500+ pages, but most are around 200 to 400 so yeah. Hehe. I had a good break, although I’ve read 2 books so far this week and one really sucked, which was disappointing.
I heard great things about the ones you had this week, I’m curious to see what you’ll think about them. Happy reading!
I’ve heard mixed things about Dorothy, that’s for sure. Can’t WAIT to try it myself, though!
Such amazing looking books! I really want to read The Dream Thieves, Dorothy Must Die, and Love Letters to the Dead. ๐ I had More Than This checked out from the library at one point, but I didn’t find the time to read it before I returned it. I read a couple pages, though, and it is very intriguing. I really hope you enjoy your new books!
Gah, don’t you hate that when the library demands books back before you get a chance on them?! It’s demanding back a stack of mine, and I’ve had them for sooo long I’ve grown rather attached. HA! x)
Dorothy Must Die! <3
Congratulations on your book. I don’t know how you do it, and my brain feels scared thinking about it. xD The Peter Pan Retellings sounds cool though. :3
Bah! I hope it’s creepy…I try. ๐ It’s totally weird being in my imagination but whatever. XD
Congrats on finishing your novel! I can’t even fathom writing so many words in such a short amount of time. You’re amazing! And I love Peter Pan ๐
It was kind of rough, but I did squeeze in ONE 10K day for which I’m insanely proud. That doesn’t often happen. So I kind of strutted around in accomplishment. x)
Awesome stack this week Cait, I just love how you label your books with funny comments ๐ Congrats on finishing your Peter Pan retelling, it sounds freaking amazing! I hope you enjoy More Than This, it is a fantastic, ambiguous and well written book that will keep you guessing (and surprising deep as well). Thanks for sharing my post too!
Aw, awesome, I’m glad you like how I do the pics now! I was kind of dubious about doing it…but then, what the heck, it’s my blog. *shrugs* I’m allowed to be weird. I was pretty excited when you put More Than This on your diverse book list. I’m like, “Yaaay! I’m on the right track!”
I recently read Dorothy Must Die, The Raven Boys (!!) and Love Letters to the Dead as well and absolutely enjoyed them, so I hope you have the same experience Cait! (Pssh…of course you will, my bookish twin! <3) I haven’t read any of the other books in your haul, but they all sound really good! I’m going to wait and see what you think and add them to my TBR if you end up enjoying them! (I hope you do!) And thanks so much for sharing those discussion links – always so much fun to read what people think! ๐
As always, fabulous haul, and happy reading! <3
~ Zoe @ The Infinite To-Read Shelf
OF COURSE I WILL LOVE THEM. I got worried about Dorothy because I saw a lot of bloggers not liking it….buuuut then you did. So now I’m pretty sure I’ll love it. x)
Ahhhhh, what an awesome stacking the shelves post!! And I SO want to read DOROTHY MUST DIE. I mean, I share a birthday with the guy who wrote the original story, so a retelling is just MEANT to be amazing and hopefully land in my waiting hands in the next few weeks ๐
I totally get what you mean about needing a break from reading! I’ve read 137 books this year so far, and I’ve had a bit of break from reading this week, because I’M JUST SO WORN OUT.
Great post!
I know what you’re saying about the dystopians. None I’ve read have blown me away but I gotta read em’ to find the ones that do ๐
That’s a great haul you have there. Dorothy must die is one of my needs but I haven’t been able to get it yet…soon, maybe! *sigh*
BTW, love the site and the design. Just had to follow <3
It’s really scary how TBR piles grow, isn’t it? Mine has me utterly terrified, for real. Sigh. Yet so much goody awaits me, so I’m all conflicted in this love/dread relationship with the TBR pile. Lol.
Sexeh covers, I so agree! And your comments on the reading pile are pure win ๐
Oooh, great haul! Dorothy Must Die, Love Letters to the Dead and More Than This are all on my TBR pile! I started Dorothy, and it’s really good so far. Happy reading! ๐
Ooohh…. Dorothy Must Die! Ilove the look of this book and you have a hardcover? Hope you enjoy it.
I also got The Minnow and started reading it as soon as I opened the envelope. So far – the story is as good as the cover. Hope you have a great week ๐
First, HUGE congrats on finishing your book! That is seriously fantastic! As for your book haul this week… oh the jealousy! I want so many of those so, so badly! I NEED More Than This and Love Letters to the Dead! Hope you enjoy them a lot!
Humans with crow wings? Yes, please! congratulations on finishing your book. And did you say you’ve read 80 books this year? Wow! Great book haul. I got the Minnow too. Been waiting on my copy of Take Back The Skies, may have to investigate why it hasn’t arrived yet.
Congrats on your book! Love your new stack. The books by Paige, Dellaira, and Steifvater all look good!
Stealing shoes has repercussions? Absolutely love it. They need to put that on the cover!
Incredible haul and swooning with you over the cover love. The Minnow looks even prettier in person, so artistic! I still haven’t read The Raven Boys, I have it on my Kindle, but really need to squeeze it in. More Than This is incredible, can’t wait to see what you think of it. It looks daunting, but you’ll fly though it.
OMG, I can’t believe you won Dorothy. Lucky girl. I am dying to read it. Happy Mother’s Day.
I too love the cover of The Minnow and Love Letters to the Dead, it must be awesome to be an author and end up with covers like these! Mands @ The Bookish Manicurist
Gosh, yes. How must the authors feel? I'd be just stroking my own book all the time…heh. XD
I love the cover for The Minnow and am gonna ask from the pub. LLTTD looks fab as well. Happy reading, Cait! <33
Oh definitely do! I want to know what you think of it too. ๐
Whoohooo! Go birthday madness! (That's seriously cool. I share a birthday with Jack London, soooo….that's a bit disappointing. xD)Oh. My. GOSH. WHAT?!!! 137 books?!! YOU ARE AMAZING. YOU HAVE SUPERPOWERS. WHO ARE YOU REALLY??
I USED to be fully in love with all things dystopic, but now? Bleh. I'm waiting to find one that's just a little bit fresh. That'd be nice. ๐ I'm pretty excited for Dorothy! And awww, thanks for the follow!
I swear, they're doing it all on their own. I didn't even go to the library really…just, like, um, once. BUT STILL THESE BOOKS GROW. I like it when my TBR is fat, but manageable. Right now it's scaring me. X)
I'm SO tempted just to throw my reading organisation and just read Dorothy now. Ah! It looks so good.
Eeee! Yes! I won it and it came as a hardcover when I was expecting paperback, so that is just downright awesome. XD That's awesome about The Minnow! Yay!
Awww, thanks! I'm pretty pumped even if it is an incredibly SUCKY draft (my drafts always are). But yes, gosh, I scored really well this week and I'm pretty happy. ๐
Ha! Gosh, thanks. That kind of makes my day! Yep…read 80 books, I'm kind of winding down a bit on the insane reading levels so I have some more time to write. x)
I LOVE MAGGIE STIEFVATER. She is a wizard of writing.
I know, right?! It's obviously the direct response to the original tale. x) I need to read Wicked now, actually…Gosh, More Than This is SO much bigger than I expected. I usually think contemporaries are going to be little 200+ pages thingies. This one is a whopper. o.O
I AM SO LUCKY I KNOW.
I'm so eager to read Dorothy Must Die and Love Letters to the Dead. Both sound so awesome!! Great haul this week! I hope you enjoy them all! ๐
I knoooow, right?! I can't wait to start them!
I've been wanting Dorothy Must Die. I've read the Patrick Ness, and …meh… I keep trying his books but we just don't seem to connect. Thanks for stopping by. Lovely blog here. I'm following via Feedly.and Bloglovin.
Aw, dang about Patrick Ness. This'll be my first read, so I'm pretty excited to see what I think! Thanks for the follow! XD
I really liked More Than This – my first Patrick Ness and I'm eager to try another. I loved the writing in LL to the Dead but the letters didn't quite work for me. LOVED Dream Thieves and now have so many questions about that series…Happy Reading and congrats on finishing the PP retelling :)Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics
I haven't read anything by Patrick Ness, yet, so I'm pretty excited! I adored The Raven Boys so I'm just absolutely dying to start Dream Thieves (I have some ARCs to eat up first, though). xD
50k is 10 days?! Damn. Congrats! ๐ I finished Love Letters to the Dead back last week, and yeah, I wanted to cry. And I got angry. And all of these other feelings that were just ugh. It was not what I was expecting at all, but really, really good. I thought the letter format would annoy me, but nope. I bought Dorothy Must Die back last month and only just getting to it, so yeah, it better not disappoint. Or I'll cry. ;(Here's mineKirsty @ StudioReads
Thaaaaanks. x) It was a bit crazy at times, but I had a goal and my brain wished to stick to it. (Like, half of my brain, the other half wanted to be watching Supernatural or sleeping, but whatever.) Angry AND crying?! I can't WAIT. I need a bit of confused emotion in my life. x) You and me both about Dorothy.
I love your funky version of Stacking the Shelves. Still LOLing over the 'stealing shoes …' comment. Oh and I've had a reading burnout recently as well so I sympathize.
Eep! Thanks! What can I say? I love to be just a little bit sarcastic about things. (Laughing is the best.) Ugh, though, doesn't reading burnout suck? I need to calm down a bit, maybe read 2 books a week instead of 5? Haha! THAT would help.
Oh my gosh Your book sounds amazing and it is amazing that you wrote all that in such a short amount of time! I want to read it some day. I can beta read and edit it for you! (You won't even have to bribe me to do it with virtual chocolate!) I have been wanting to read Dorothy Must Die, but I don't know if I'd like it or not so I'll be excited to hear what you think of it! Enjoy your haul!
Aw, thanks for the beta offer! I'll keep it in mind. At the moment, it's going into a deeeep dark box to fester for a while. *sigh* My first drafts are always SUCH rubbish I even kind of weep over them. By draft 3 or 4 or whatnot, they're finally getting readable. ๐
Congrats on finishing writing a novel (Holy hell, 50K in 10 days. You must be a champ! Plus it sounds really interesting.)! You got some really great titles this week, most of which are already on my TBR. Good luck tackling yours.Happy reading and thanks for stopping by The Book Hookup! <3~Christina
I can write fast, but not GOOD. Haha! It's a mess at the moment, but hopefully some later drafts will sort that out.
Ahh, giveaway is over already. Oh well. So haul wise, Dorothy Must Die has be very curious to read it. Sounds twisted! Enjoy and Happy Reading! Here are my newest additions.
Oops…I think it had like 12 hours left or something, but yep, it's done. Picking a winner soon. x) Thanks for stopping by!
Congrats on your book! What are you doing to celebrate??You will NOT be disappointed by Dorothy Must Die. I just don't see how that's possible. Love Letters to the Dead is also very good. I'm also excited for Searching for Sky and Take Back the Skies – skies all around!I still haven't read anything by Ness. I checked out More Than This from the library last year, but I never got around to reading it. I do love that cover, though.
Wow, I love the way you do your book hauls! They're so different and funny and awesome. I didn't realise More Than This was such a big book either. I've been considering putting it on my TBR. I can't wait to hear what you think of it. I've heard lots of good things about Love Letters to the Dead too…Here's my book haul! Happy reading! (:
I've heard great things about Dorothy Must Die. Enjoy your new reads!
Nice Stack of books- and captions to go with. Your book sounds like fun- Peter Pan with bloodthirsty faeries? Yikes… ๐
Wow, your speedy writing is most impressive! Also, it sounds WICKED COOL so I hope you really do get back to it eventually;) And all the books! Sadly I haven't read any of them, but I want to. Aaaaand I just want to say that I love your dialogue–you are very much a COOL person:)Happy Reading!
Ooo so many people are raving about Dorothy Must Die, it sounds brilliant! And omg I MUST read The Raven Boys, it's been sitting n my bookcase for a while now.Happy reading ๐
Awesome haul! Take Back the Skies, Love Letters to the Dead, The Raven Cycle, and Dorothy Must Die are all on my TBR list. Dunno when I'll get to them, though :(Thanks for dropping by my STS! ๐
What you have in your hands there missy are really good books! I am terribly excited for Take Back the Skies as well ๐ I can't wait to read this one and everything it has to tell! I kinda like looking at the skies… plus, I also heard the author was 18? THAT'S A FREAKING MILESTONE! I wish I'd be published soon, too ๐ Maybe… one day… *stares at the distance*Faye at The Social Potato Reviews
You always make me smile when I pop over to your blog – Can I adopt you as my little sisters? *chuckles* If I ever make it over to Australia I'm so hunting you two down – ok not in a creeper sort of way. *wink*
Yay! You finished a book. Although that sounds interesting, so as soon as it appears on Goodreads, please let me know so I can add it to my TBR. ^_^
I've also been reading like crazy too! My hiatus is over yayayay. Though this may be due to the long road trip to Vegas, I've read 4 books in the span of 2 days. I'm baaack. Um can I just say that your Peter Pan retelling sounds wonderful?? I absolutely adore retellings and would totally read the shit out of that book haha c: Speaking of retellings, you got Dorothy Must Die. I'm actually nervous, ratings for that one are all over the place. I personally loved it though, and I reaallllllly hope you do too c: Love Letters to The Dead was also quite an enjoyable one for me. Omg I can't believe that Take Back the Skies was written by somebody my age ๐ฎ who is a cos-player!? It doesn't really get better than that. I still have hope. Lol (:
I am so jealous as I desperately want to read Dorothy Must Die, Love Letters to the Dead and More Than This. Especially since John Green recommended it. I swear, that man can do no wrong. Thanks for stopping by!
I can’t wait to read Dorothy Must Die!! Awesome win!
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I want to read your Peter Pan retelling!!! It sounds like my kinda book! ๐ Oh, I can't wait to see what you think of The Dream Thieves…I liked it even better than The Raven Boys, and I'm now salivating over the cover for Blue Lily, Lily Blue. =)
