Welcome to my MTMC Tours stop for The Fated & The Damned by Chloe Hodge!
Steamy, romantic, and dangerous, The Fated and the Damned is the dark conclusion to the Cursed Blood duology. I read book one (The Cursed And the Broken) last year, so it was great to dive back into this world, especially after the huge twists and betrayals from the first book’s finale. Now since this is a sequel, I won’t give away too many spoilers!! So first let’s have a quick list…
Read This Series If You Like…
- fantasy books centred around Hungarian Folklore
- badass witchy heroines (who might get all “stab first, ask questions later” when they get mad)
- steamy romance scenes
- plenty of action scenes and bloody knives and both the bad and good sides taking casualties and harsh hits
- morally grey characters
- plenty of twists and every-shifting character dynamics
This was an explosive finale as we follow Kitarni while she’s dealing with the betrayal of book one and her complicated feelings for Dante. She is such a force in this book; both fierce and unstoppable, delivering the unstoppable girlboss vibes with a good dose of vulnerability when she allows herself to a moment to breathe. There are also so many interesting and complex secondary characters, and a good bit of banter and devious meddling from her sister 😌✨ when it comes to needing to fix that broken trust between Kitarni and Dante. It definitely doesn’t hold back with the steamy scenes so if you’re a fan of romantasy, you’ll definitely want to pick this series up. We have both Kitarni and Dante’s POV to give the story a rich vastness of perspective.
From the moment I’d met that wild flame, I’d been burned, and I wanted to walk right back into her fire.
Fast-paced and exciting, with a good balance of danger and magic and romance, this is a finale not to be missed.

Hi Chloe, thanks for chatting with me about the thrilling second book in your Cursed Blood series! Can you tell us a bit about your writing journey for The Fated And The Damned? Was it easier/harder than writing book one? How long did it take from start to finished novel?
CHLOE: Super excited to be doing this tour! It was definitely a harder slog for the second book. I often suffer from second book syndrome, in due part to the pressure of reader expectations, deadlines, and creativity blocks because I tend to get stuck in my head. Once I found my rhythm though, I really enjoyed it! It took me around 6-7 months for writing, then another 1-2 for all the production side of things.
I feel that for sequels! There are a lot of reader expectations to meet 😅 but the payoff is of course beautifully worth it. Especially yours!! What are your favourite types of scenes to write?
I am a sucker for some thrilling action scenes! I find they come very easy to me, which I think stems from the types of movies I watch and games I play. I also love writing romantic tension and banter between found family.
It was mostly on track with what I wanted, but sometimes the characters have a mind of their own. 😂 The ending kind of took a turn, as did some events our cocky MMC took into his own hands.
Our characters do love to remind us who runs the show (somehow…it’s never us). Now, we’re all obsessed with Kitarni!! But tell us: who are your favourite side-characters to write?
I loved writing Dante of course! But I adore András. He’s just the biggest marshmallow at heart and such a fierce friend to Kitarni. Margit is a bit more mysterious and more snarky/less warm, but she was fun too!
When do you usually write and what is your writing space like?
I usually write between 9-5, but I’ve had some of my best writing sprints at night. I’m a bit of a permanently exhausted pigeon tbh. I’ll either be in my study or camped on the couch with a cup of tea on standby.
Permanently exhausted pigeon is a whole mood. Can we beg for a hint about what you’re working on next? 👀
You may, but I’m not telling! Just joking … I’m terrible at keeping things quiet. I am co-writing an urban fantasy why choose with my dear friend Rebecca Camm, as well as working on a novella and a few other sneaky projects!
Ahh!!! That’s sure to be powerhouse of a project! We shall stay hushed over here with what we know now 🤫🤐 And now lastly! What’s your favourite way to celebrate a new book release?
I love going to dinner with my husband or just having a quiet night with a champas and lots of cuddles at home! On the other hand, release days are sometimes spent packing orders all day—like this one was—and also checking reviews and rankings etc. Am a bit obsessive like that unfortunately. 😅
Thank you so much for sharing about your newest book and for taking the time to chat with me, Chloe!! A pleasure as always. 💛 And congrats on your completed duology!
