Occasionally I like to tell the world what it should be doing.
And by “occasionally” I mean absolutely-all-the-time. It’s not actually my fault that I’m always right. It’s actually a great burden to bear. So when I saw Lisa and Becca @ Lost In Literature doing the Totally Should’ve Book Tag * I thought “I WANT TO DO THIS TOO.” So here I am. Stealing it. ** And gracing the world with my wisdom.
Basically I’m going to be saying what books should be doing. Even if they’re not. Shame on them. They’re leading disappointing lives by not fulfilling my every wish.
I will also overload you with book photography because that’s who I am as a person.
* Which was created by Booktuber emmabooks and I usually never know who to credit for starting a tag but LOOK I’M ACTUALLY DOING IT RIGHT HERE. Someone award me. A small planet to rule or a large cake to eat will suffice.
** I’m totally not stealing it. Lisa and Becca graciously said “hey anyone who wants to do this, go ahead!” but I need to maintain my evil aura of villainy. So humour me. I’M STEALING IT ARRRR. (The “arrr” was an evil roar, by the way, in case you were unsure.)
1. TOTALLY SHOULD’VE…GOTTEN A SEQUEL
Normally I call blessings down on standalones for the sheer fact that THEY ARE NOT VERY COMMON. But I would be lying most atrociously if I said I’m not dying for more another book after Princess of Thorns. This book is (A) criminally underrated, (B) so full of sass and potato-eating-competitions that wold make Samwise Gamgee proud, and (C) absolutely epic in all aspects except for the fact IT ENDED BEFORE I WANTED IT TO BE OVER. I mean, it was satisfying??? But also: no. I need more stat.
Also FYI this was one of my FAVOURITE books of 2015 and if that doesn’t make you drop that cupcake you’re eating * and dash off to read it, THEN I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
* What do you mean you’re not eating a cupcake???? Isn’t that what you do when you come onto my cake-infested blog????
2. TOTALLY SHOULD’VE…HAD A SPIN-OFF SERIES
Obviously I’m going to say The Raven Cycle. There is just NO WAY I was ready for this to be over after 4 books. * They were marvellously brilliant books, of course. But more. I have questions about all the magic and the Ravens and, if Blue ever leaves Henrietta, who is going to keep the town’s demand of yogurt up? Hmm? But basically I just want more of MY BOYS.
* YES THERE ARE SOLID RUMOURS OF MAGGIE STIEFVATER WRITING A RONAN-CENTRED SERIES. But while I’m 78% sure she’s writing them, that doesn’t actually mean they’ve sold. She’s pretty famous so I’m relatively confident that they WILL sell if she pursues it. But but but…I need confirmation before my heart fangirls off the rails. (Btw, Ronan is my favourite so afjdklsafdjaklda.)
3. AN AUTHOR WHO SHOULD TOTALLY WRITE MORE BOOKS
Amy Tintera is AMAZING. And also no one seems to have heard of her and this is a tragedy I mean to fix right now. Seriously, re-read her name. Say it out loud. Write it on a stickynote and paste it to your forehead. NOW YOU’VE HEARD OF HER SO GO READ HER BOOKS. The Reboot duology is about mostly-dead people who do weapon training and end up dancing and breaking each other’s arms. And Ruined is about magical people destroying other people and also eating cheese bread.
She’s only got 3 books out AND I’VE READ THEM ALREADY. #more

IF THAT STAR ON SHADOW & BONE IS BUGGING YOU…YEAH. IT’S BUGGING ME TOO. SOMETIMES YOU DON’T SEE STUFF UNTIL EDITING. ARGH.
4. A CHARACTER WHO TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE
I like to think of myself as a really mature reader who understands when authors take their books in different directions to my vision and blah blah blah — LOOK, I TRY, BUT SOMETIMES IT’S REALLY REALLY HARD. If my ship breaks, I will be bitter for centuries. Literal centuries. I actually will not die just so I can be immortal and have more time to be bitter.
I won’t give spoilers but = am VERY DISPLEASED with the ship in the Shadow & Bone trilogy. * But you can read my bitter spoilery opinion here if you wish it.
* Fun fact: I just wrote “grilogy” because, you know, Grisha books and then backspaced thinking I was losing my mind and couldn’t spell. But in reality, I was making a new and awesome word. Petition to refer to the Grisha books as a GRILOGY from now on!!
5. TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED DIFFERENTLY
Look I gave The Book Thief 5-STARS. But I’m just sayin’ there are things in the last few chapters that could’ve been edited out. Just a few DEATHS that were obviously typos.
I know, I know, typos happen to the best of us. But better editing is needed!! Because I am 100% unokay with how much I BAWLED MY LITTLE VULCAN EYES OUT over this nasty beautiful book.
6. TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A MOVIE FRANCHISE
I barely ever watch movies because, hello, have you met my TBR? It is a controlling slightly terrifying beast. But I’d be buying a cornfield of popcorn and settling down on a comfy bean bag IMMEDIATELY if you told me the Splintered series was being made into a movie. As long as Tim Burton is directing, Danny Elfman is doing the music, and I am the producer.
7. TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ONLY HAD ONE POINT OF VIEW
Well well well…ah Allegiant. I mean, I did love it. I have ZERO problems with the ending. I just don’t think throwing Four’s POV into the last book was a good idea at all. If it had been dual from the beginning? YAY. But tossing in POVs at the last minute? NAY.
Plus, actually, come to think of it…if we’d had Four’s POV from book 1 we could’ve been saved all those endless pages of Tris’ special boring snowflakeness and had many more chapters of Four punching people and eating cake. WHY DID NO ONE CONSULT ME ABOUT THIS, GEE.
8. TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE A COVER CHANGE
If you haven’t heard me talk about the Every Breath series much before this is because THE COVERS ARE HORRENDOUS AND HOW CAN I PHOTOGRAPH THEM???? But they’re an Australian teenage Sherlock retelling, with Watson being a girl, and they’re incredible. Just…try not to judge them. *
* The USA editions are slightly better but also really not. People all over the world are crying at the injustice of this glorious series getting such horrendous covers.

9. TOTALLY SHOULD’VE KEPT THE ORIGINAL COVERS
I shall pick Legacy of Kings for this because HELLO I LIKE THE BLOODY SWORD. A weird key-hole shaped thing is a no go. Clearly the designers should’ve stopped and asked me if they should destroy the nice bloody sword they’d already started with. Like what even is with the keyhole???? No one is peeping through keyholes in this book! They are hacking each other up with bloody swords!! Stop swirling the font and pretending this is a nice book BECAUSE IT IS NOT NICE.
10. TOTALLY SHOULD’VE STOPPED AT BOOK ONE
I’m so opposed to the way the Blood Red Road trilogy ended, I genuinely avoid thinking about it. Let’s just pretend it’s a standalone, okay? Okay. It’s now official: RAGING STAR DOES NOT EXIST. Which is a shame because I’d recommend the first book to everyone and their mother and their aunt’s cat and their extraterrestrial friends and just everyone. But that’s where you stop, fiends. Believe me. Save yourselves.
I MUCHLY AGREE WITH ALL OF THIS! Especially the Every Breath series! I picked it up on a whim because you liked it so much, but ughughughugugh it was amazing BUT PEOPLE it needs a cover change. Stat. Cos I very nearly didn’t read it cos of the covers. Also Steph Bowe’s books – they’re INCREDIBLE, but I’m sorry the covers are awful. #noapologies.
YOU PICKED IT UP BECAUSE OF MEEEE? *flails eternally* 😀 🙂 This makes me very happy. But, ahem, YES. Different covers!! Please!! (Like doesn’t Mycroft look like a total dag in that hoodie, though?!😂) And I do like Steph Bowe’s books immensely too and I agree the covers aren’t great. Although not as bad as the Every Breath ones.😂
Didn’t have a sequel… hm. The only thing coming to mind is not recent at all — I wish that the Fionavar Tapestry sequence by Guy Gavriel Kay never got the sequel Ysabel. It’s not a bad book, but it really doesn’t match up for me, and it kind of spoils my fun in imagining where the characters go and what they do after Fionavar.
Want a sequel? Katherine Addison’s The Goblin Emperor. I am so not ready to let go of all the characters, which means I am stuck in a loop of rereading this book forever. Which is not a totally bad thing, but. CURIOUS. WANT TO KNOW.
Oh re-reading books because you need a sequel = I RELATE TO THAT IMMENSELY. I’ve recently gotten back into rereading and it’s basically because I’m whingeing that the author doesn’t have more books for me.😂
Yes Yes Yes to the Raven Cycle!! I’m pretty hopeful, that the Ronan Trilogy is going to be picked up and sold but I’m sure that we’ll have to wait ages for that 😮
(A) As for a book I wish DIDN’T have a sequel I have to say the House of Night Series, I loved the first book “Marked” gave it 4 stars, but from there books started to get downhil and there are just TOO many of them!
(B) As for one book you wish DID have a sequel I’m picking Will Grayson, Will Grayson, I LOVED the book, but felt like the ending wasn’t the happy ending I wished for and my little heart wants to know if the two boys did make up and forgive in the end 😮
It sooooo huuuuurts not knowing exactly what’s happening with the Ronan books. I JUST NEED THEM TO BE A THING SO SO BAD OMGGGG. I love Ronan far too much. <33
I only read the novellas for that series and wasn't enamoured so I never picked up the rest.🙈🙊 Omg and I LOVED Will Grayson too! But doesn't Tiny Cooper have a companion book?? I think he does!!
Yeeees me too! Ronan is one of my faves <33 I'm hoping we'll get a first book of his series 2018? pleeeeease?
I only read the first two books and there's like ten more o: Yeah!! <3 Tiny Cooper does have a companion book but that's his musical in script form, so I don't think that it takes place after the main book o:
Ohhh the Tiny Cooper book is a script? Darn. I was hoping it was an actual book.😂 I wanted to read it, but I’m not the biggest fan of scripts haha.
Well I think Fangirl should have a sequel, and I honestly cannot think of a book that didn’t need a sequel 0_o.
Also I’d love to see more tags on your blog!! Tags are really fun to do and read.
OMG YES ABSOLUTELY YESSS! Fangirl needs a sequel. *nods* But then again, Rainbow Rowell just needs to write more books gosh dangit because I need to read more from her. *grabby hands*
(Also super glad you like reading the tags!! I think they’re fun to do BUT NEVER REMEMBER TO DO THEM??? What is wrong with me omg. Clearly I need more cake. That’ll fix my memory.)
I wish that the Divergent series had only one book, because I actually semi-liked that one. I wish…well…Ruined was a good book, and except for the scene near the end, I was actually pleased with how clean it was, so that deserves one.
AHHH RUINED IS AMAZING!! I loved how villainous everyone was basically.😂 Also cheese bread = my heart is won!
I love this tag! I also far prefer the sword-cover than the keyhole one. WHY GET RID OF SWORDS? Swords are epic. Readers will pick up swords. And maybe also books with swords on it. I didn’t mind Allegiant, although a lot of people hated it. I just thought that it was hard to distinguish between Tris’ voice and Four’s? Like, it read the exact same way…
Swords are sooooo epic. I am 100% onboard to pick up a sword-cover-book than a keyhole. LIKE SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THE KEYHOLE EVEN MATTERS.😭 And yes Allegiant sure gets some hate, right?!😂 I thought it was fine! But definitely agree Four and Tris’ voice sounded very similar.
This list is great! though I really don’t see what’s so wrong with the Every Breath covers… anyway. I wish that Skylark didn’t have a sequel because WHAT EVEN WAS THAT?? And I think that Saving Francesca (Ozzie YA ftw!) should have a sequel and The Girl at Midnight shouln’t. (um, that was more than two… BUT I DO WHAT I LIKE) I haven’t thought about Allegiant for so long, it’s like the blogosphere has fallen out of love with Veronica Roth.
I haven’t even read Skylark yet *WAILS* because I am a slack bean, but I’m going to keep that in mind.😂 And of course you can do what you like *pats shoulder* I am here to support rebellions. I don’t think The Girl At Midnight should have a sequel either…but *whispers* I didn’t like it hahahahaha. So I’m biased.
It’ll be VERY interesting to see how the blogosphere reacts when Carve the Mark comes out!😱
I’M SO AGREE WITH THE GRISHA SHIP. I just don’t like who Alina ended up with! (I’m trying to be okay with it though) Unpopular opinion, but I would say PRIDE AND PREJUDICE needs a sequel… What happened after that??? I NEED MORE MR. DARCY. (Now I need to rewatch the movie omg) And it’s not that book one, but I think THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS should’ve stop at book 3. It wouldn’t drag so long and I won’t hate Clary as much as I had in book6 xD
I’M SO NOT OKAY WITH WHO ALINA ENDED UP WITH. Although tbh, my favourite darling *cough*prince*cough* deserves better anyway. I will literally go out of my brain flailing if Nikolai gets a spinoff series. PLEEEEASE, LEIGH BARDGUO. HEAR US!! Ahem.
Oh whoops haha.😂 I loved The Mortal Instruments and actually loved book 6 so much! ALTHOUGH, I agree Clary isn’t the best protagonist. If only the series had focused on Isabel and Simon… :’)
Yes Yes Yes. You hit the nail on the head with the Splintered series deserving a movie. But it would have to be done right, so yeah, Tum Burton would no doubt have to direct it. I mean, who else is be crazy genius enough to make that series into a beautiful, nonsensical, action-packed ball of wonderful? This needs to happen now. World, are you listening?
EXACTLY. There is basically no other option except Tim Burton *nods* It needs crazy weirdness genius. Can you imagine Morpheus though? LIKE HE WOULD BE SO GLORIOUS IN A MOVIE OMG.😍
We’re totally going to steal this tag even though we’ve never done a book blog tag before. Should be fun, right?😂
Also we loved your answers and pictures and humour and everything really.
Did you have a nice hiatus?🙌
IT WILL BE GLORIOUS FUN! I have no doubt! I can’t wait to read it.😉
And yes, thankyou! I did have a lovely hiatus with lots of writing and cake breaks (because necessity) but I missed blogging so it’s nice to be back!😂
OK I REALLY WANT TO COMMENT ON OTHER THINGS BUT I MAGGIE IS WRITING THE RONAN SERIES AND I AM SHRIEKING WITH JOY! CAKE FOR EVERYONE! But I hope Blue at least is in it a bit, and Ganseeey! (Adam too.)
OH and I agree with the Book Thief. Obviously the author didn’t THINK THE ENDING THROUGH. What was he doing?! I cried myself to death. Whenever I re read that book I hide myself in my room when I know the sad part is coming because I don’t wnt my family to think I’ve gone mad with my extreme sobbing.
Glad you’re back Cait!!!!!! 😊
I AGREE THAT TALKING ABOUT THE RONAN CENTRED SERIES SHOULD BE THE ALL CAPS PRIORITY HERE SO DO NOT WORRY. LET US EAT CAKE AND JUST SHRIEK IN ANTICIPATION.
I just think, perhaps, the Book Thief’s editor didn’t catch ALL THOSE TYPOS???? Which is a shame. Because like those people who died? Nope. Not meant to happen. Definite mistake. DEFINITE. *collapses in a puddle to sob*
THANK YOU!! (I have a caps addiction problem especially when talking about The Raven Cycle, which, by the way, thank you for getting me to read because my life has been forever changed. So thank you for yelling with me!!!!)
I was thinking that too!! Markus Zusak really should get a new editor and maybe rewrite the whole thing probably WITHOUT the deaths *collapses in a puddle to sob as well*. Also! Have you read The Messenger by him as well? I just finished it. It’s so beautiful and strange and poetic. His books are like that, he has a special voice, I feel!
ALL CAPS + THE RAVEN CYCLE = THE ONLY REAL WAY TO SPEAK ABOUT THEM TBH. AND I WILL FOREVER BE HERE TO YELL ABOUT MY MAGICAL AND SASSY DARLINGS. <33
I have read I am the Messenger! But didn't like it as much as the Book Thief.🙈🙊
I AGEEE AND THANK YOU AGAIN!!
Ah yeah for sure!! No one died though so that’s good haha!
I may pass out with excitement at the thought of a movie franchise for the Splintered series – seriously, oh my lord would that be amazing. But I would rage if Morpheus was not sexy on level 99283747.
I must also confess that I actually quite like the new covers for the Legacy of Kings series (or whatever it is). I saw it in the shops the other day and was like WAIT WHAT IS THIS THING OF BEAUTY. Admittedly, I must agree with you on the fact that perhaps the originals made slightly more sense . . . OH WELL.
And yes, I DO agree with you on the whole perspective thing with Four. I adored that last book and was emotionally unstable for days with the ending – but I felt like being inside Four’s head actually changed his character for me. BUT obviously there are good reasons for needing another narrator in that book . . . ahem.
WELL OF COURSE MORPHEUS WOULD NEED TO BE AMAZING. That would just be a fact. Like without an amazing Morpheus, cancel the whole thing. This is why I’m producer so I can make sure these things go right. *nods* (Or wait, maybe I should be the casting person??? Or maybe I’ll fire Tim Burton and do it all myself. #solidplan)
Awww, well you can have the new covers of Legacy of Kings and I’ll keep the old.😂 WE’RE SORTED.
Yeah, it was a bit of a shock to suddenly be in Four’s head! I mean, I like his head, I do. The inside was weird, maybe a little whiny, but he also punched a lot of people so I’m all good with that.
I am probably in the minority in that I like the New Legacy of Kings book better. But then, I’ve never read it so what do I know? I also never read Allegiant (on purpose) and feel that the movie was so bad I never will now. Plus, I was super spoiled early on and am super OK with how I was told it ended. Too bad the ending couldn’t have been the same for more characters in the book. I would definitely be on board for a Splintered movie, especially given how beautiful the covers are. You really hit the nail on the head with many of these.
I don’t think you’re in the minority! I’ve only had people tell me they like the new ones!😂 I’M THE CRANKY MINORITY OMG bahahah. Ahem. And I never watched the Allegiant movie (part 1 or whatever they did to it??) because I was laughing all through Insurgent because it was so ridiculous.😂
Thank you, Barb!!
Thank you for overwhelming us with book photography!!! 😀
Are you back yet, or just dropping in to remind us that you rule the world and how dare we think any differently? 😉
YOU ARE MOST WELCOME. I’m here to throw bookish photos at everyone. ‘Tis my calling in life. :’) AND YES I’M BACK OFFICIALLY!! It was a nice break but I honestly miss blogging when I’m away.😂
Glad to see you back, but I hope your break was fruitful and what you needed!
I really hope those Stiefvater rumors become fact!! I need a Ronan centered story!
sameeeee!!! And it kind of sounds like it’s all in the works so EEEEP. *fingers crossed*
I haven’t read most of these (except The Book Thief, which I’ve read about a billion times), but I totally agree with you about the POV in Allegiant. That was just a very bad decision.
Allegiant’s sudden split to two POVs was definitely not a very smooth decision.🙈🙊 Eeep. I mean, I have no problems with how the book decided to end, but it just needed a bit more SOMETHING to make it not seem like such a rough story??
I think I WILL steal it lol
I was literally thinking what books I would mention under the points as I was reading this XD
Great picks btw
Oh goodie! I look forward to reading yours!! 😀
OMG, the curse of horrendous covers is that I’m a terrible human being and avoid those books at all cost unless someone forces one into my hands. TERRIBLE, I KNOW.
If I had been paying more attention, I probably would’ve put two and two together and realized that Four’s sudden POV meant that something was going to happen at the end, but I was too blind to see it because I’m still in denial.
Oh I get it. I DO. I mean, pretty covers are just pleasing to my entire soul, so why wouldn’t I go for them first?!? *nods*
And YEAH. I should’ve picked it up about Four’s POV, but nope. I just thought the series was going to end a lot nicer hahahhaha. OH WHAT A NIAVE MULBERRY I WAS.
HEY 🙂 Mal fan in here xD
I think I am mostly the only one that loved Malina XD
And yes I agree with most of the opinions
Oh sorry for insulting your ship then. bahahah.😂 I’M GLAD YOU WERE HAPPY WITH IT THOUGH!!
Love this tag… MIGHT steal it. Maybe.
The Matched triology by Ally Condie definitely should’ve been a stand-a-lone, IMO. I loved the first book but the second sent me to sleep. I didn’t bother with the third.
A book that NEEDS a sequel? The Catcher in the Rye because I need more Holden in my life tbh. I’m going to name a cat after him.
Astrid 🙂
http://www.astridkaniele.com
YES DO STEAL IT! Stealing all the tags! It’s monstrously fun!
And I never continued with the Matched series so I probably made the right choice there?!😂 I hate it when books get so boring that napping is preferable to reading bahah.
Totally agree with the Blood Red Road, even the second one wasn’t a favorite of mine and the third I’m going to pretend doesn’t exist…I’ve been told by many people to not read it and I’m not as of now but I may have to because….ending? I’m going to add Legend series to that section, the second and third were NOT worth what the first one’s brilliance presented! Also Allegiant just annoyed me in general. Ok, I’m done now 🙂
I kiiiind of liked the second one? But I was like getting a bit anxious about where it was all going. But yeah. Just try to pretend book 1 was a standalone. bahhaah.😂 omg I STILL need to finish the Legend trilogy. Why do I never finish what I start. WHAT IS MY LIFE.
I started the second book in Legend and just no…pretend, darling!
Oh, don’t get me started on bad covers! There was one writer I knew personally who was an indie and had actually done very well for herself. Then she went and switched her dark fantasy series covers’ over to a chibi/anime hybrid art style that I and her mentor both said did NOT fit the series, but a bunch of people on her street team told her what she wanted to hear. She ran with it and I have not seen that series on any blogs since and it still upsets me. *deep breath*
And ships…ships will be the death of me. *screams* *cries* I know your pain.
Omg that’s the worst. 🙁 And anime doesn’t seem like the right thing for a dark fantasy anyway?? Agh. So sad. Covers really need to look beautiful! It might be shallow, but pfft. Life is short and we readers want to display pretty things.
SHIPS ARE ALWAYS THE DEATH OF ME. SOMEONE LET ME WALK OFF THE PLANK. I’M SO DOOMED WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING.
I really wish that The Maze Runner didn’t have a sequel. I absolutely loved that book, and then I read The Scorch Trials, and I thought that it was SO much worse that I didn’t even bother reading the third book. As for a book that needs a sequel…the only thing that’s coming to mind is the Suite Scarlett series, which should be getting a third book, but no one knows when. I need it about two years ago.
Agh, I hate it when series are cut off midway. Like whyyyyyy. PUBLISHERS DON’T TORTURE US.
Awesome post! I share your ship of the Grisha trilogy! I didn’t like who Alina ended up with either 🙁
Also your pictures are amazing! Really want to read the Splintered series now :p
It all seemed like a very anticlimactic end of the Grisha books. *wails* NO ONE CONSULTED ME. THIS SHOULD’VE BEEN FIXED. (Aww, thankyou!!! I’m so glad you like my photos!)
Oooh oooh I saw this tag and I did it, I think. Currently I’m kind of swamped by schoolwork (like Whhhhhhy, world? (actually it’s why teachers+ why life but why world sounds more dramatic, especially with the extra ys. ) (I should be doing maths right now but it won’t load. Maybe the internet prefers your blog to my homework?) Well I think it’s quite hard to deny raging star’s existence when there’s a photo of it. I’m trying really hard…. *tries to deny existence of Raging Star* wait, what book were you discussing in #10? I’d like to read Every Breath, I think. Also I agree that Four should have had a pov through the whole book. Would have made a certain ending *ahem* less jarring (because dead people aren’t the best narrators). *nods*
Saying “whyyyyyy” makes one feel better about themselves *nods* It’s like whining through the keyboard and I do it ALL THE TIME. Almost as fun as all caps. #win And pfft, reading my blog is much better than doing Maths. We all know it.
No no there’s no Raging Star in that photo. THAT PHOTO IS JUST, LIKE, BLANK + FLOWERS. NO RAGING STAR AT ALL.
Or we could’ve switched in Divergent over to ghosts! That would’ve been fun! You Know Who could come back and haunt them all and it would’ve been very amusing. Ghosts FTW.
I’d grudgingly keep the ending of The Book Thief if it meant that I could change the ending of Half Lost. I mean, I figured that it would end unhappily, but…not quite that unhappily. :'(
SO MANY BOOKS DESERVE FILM FRANCHISES. THE INVISIBLE LIBRARY, THE RAVEN CYCLE, AND, OF COURSE, PERCY JACKSON DESERVES AN ENTIRELY NEW ONE.
AGH HALF LOST WILL ALWAYS MAKE ME CRY. THAT AND THE BOOK THIEF. Like I’m giving all these HORRIBLE MEAN CRULE BOOKS 5-stars…what’s wrong with me. Where are my emotions. Where is my brain. *shrieks*
Percy Jackson needs to be made into an animated series by Disney! Like How to Train Your Dragon style! IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME.
First off, I absolutely definitely do not mind the book photography. BUT. At the same time I hate it. Because it is so beautiful. I can only hope you know what I mean.
UM. This list pleases me to infinity. I may steal it, but I may just be too preoccupied with Six of Crows…
To answer A: DIVERGENT: I mean. After the first book it just kind of tapered off for me. But I really liked the first!
And for B: Does it count if I say Harry Potter should have just gone on forever and never stopped? NO? Okay. Then I’ll have to go with….Reckless by Cornelia Funke. In fact, I think there shouldn’t have even been a FIRST on that one. Wow. That was harsh. Excuse me.
So anyways that’s my two cents!
I appreciate your love/hate relationship with my photos. 💕 I WILL ACCEPT THAT.
Duuude, YES, steal this tag! And Divergent just has a lot of potential, I just don’t think it really followed it.🙈🙊 It had such a great world! I just think someone with a bit more personality than Tris would’ve livened things up a little hahah.
Omg but it seems Harry Potter IS going on forever and ever, right?!? 😂 Although hello, yes, I think a prequel story about the Mauraders would be nice. And omg Reckless is that bad?! It’s on my TBR. *quietly runs away from it*
I kinda wish the Grisha series was a standalone. But not the Six of Crows series, that one can have a million sequels. I loved Shadow and Bone, I devoured it! As I read that series I feel like Alina got more boring as it went. I wish Kiss Kill Vanish by Jessica Martinez had a sequel. I loved that book so much, and I liked that it was set in Canada. I loved the plot and characters, and suspense. I want more of the characters, I’ll take a novella. GO READ IT, I RECOMMEND! Oh, and Happy Banned books week! Are you reading a banned book? I am reading, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey. Its alright I’m not that into classics though *shrug*. Also do you read graphic novels/comics? I started this awesome one called Orange the complete collection. I LOVE IT! Its about a girl and she gets letters from her future self. AAAHHHH! Sounds awesome right?! The story is sad but so well written, and I love books that break my heart. I love graphic novels because I read them so quickly, I can finish one within the hour. Oh, and I’m so glad your back from hiatus! How was it? I missed you, I constantly checked your blog, just in case. Hah! I’m obsessed. Its okay though school keeps me busy I guess., but I’ll always make time for PaperFury.
BAHAH I HEAR YA! Actually, I just wish the Grisha books were a dulogy because Siege and Storm introduced Nikolai who is one of my favourite characters IN THE HISTORY OF EVER. <33 But I'm entirely happy to pretend Rise and Ruin doesn't exist.😂 And I actually got super upset when I realised Six of Crows was only a duology! I NEED MORE OF KAZ AND CO. (I haven't read Kiss Kill Vanish but it's on my goodreads to-read list, so that's a start, right?!😂)
I kiiiind of read comics, but only what my library has. Which is a very pitiful amount. I'll look up Orange though!
AWWW, I MISSED CHATTING TO YOU TOO, LEAH. <3 And the hiatus was quite great! 😂 And aww, always make time for PaperFury? YOU'RE GONNA MAKE ME CRY HAPPY TEARS SOON. 💕💕
Yes, totally to number 5! Let one person in her life live! However, I did love the book.
Ok, 1 book that didn’t need a sequel- the Maze Runner. I hated book one. Didn’t read the rest. Also, The Kiss of Deception. 😑
1 book that needed a sequel- all the books I love 🙂 because I need more. But specifically…I don’t know. I know why romances end when they do but I always want more. I want more Cath and Levi from fangirl, I want more Emma and Jake from Not In the Script, I want more Maguire and Jordy from Girl against the Universe. I read a whole book, fall in love with them, and then it ends.
Omg YES to more Cath and Levi! I would totally be up for that. *nods* Plus I kind of want to see Cath writing her own books and becoming like a totally famous author and fajdsklad it would be awesome to read about. :’)
Yes, yes, yes to the Raven Cycle having a spin off!!! It really needs one and I heard about the Ronan spin off series too. I really need that to happen. NOW.
AngelErin @ Angel Erin’s Book Obsession
I soooo hope the Ronan cycle gets announced as official because I NEED IT MORE THAN AIR BASICALLY.
OK, I now have this NEED to read Princess of Thorns, if only because of the Samwise Gamgee reference. (I love Samwise Gamgee, I really, really do). But okay, also because of the high praise you give it. But mostly because of Samwise 😉
Also, OF COURSE I want a Raven Boys spin-off! But also, I kinda really, really want a Grisha trilogy, Nikolai-centric spin-off. Because Nikolai is amazing and I love him almost as much as Samwise!
I can’t really think of books where I wished they didn’t have a sequel, but I do think there are a lot of series or trilogies that could have been condensed into just one or two books.. But again, I can’t think of any, because for some reason my brain is freezing right now. (I’m thinking it’s the Samwise and Nikolai overload)
I am quite happy to use Samwise references to convince people to read books. IT IS SO MUCH WIN, TRUST ME, LINDSAY. YOU WON’T REGRET THIS!! I listened to an audio but I 10000% need to buy a copy just so I can hug it.
OMG YES TO A NIKOLAI SPIN OFF!! Someone mentioned to me that Leigh Bardugo teased something about a potential Nikolai book on twitter?? But I can’t find any evidence. 😭 So Idek. But I would die of all the happy if that happened. I’m reading Crooked Kingdom right now and I DON’T WANT TO LIVE THE RAVKA WORLD.
Sometimes trilogies would’ve worked better as duologies too, I suppose. Hehe. Cut out those middle book blues!
A) A book I wish didn’t have a sequel is The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. I tried to read the first sequel. Besides some awful stuff that happens right near the beginning, the voice wasn’t the same, and it didn’t capture me like the first book did.
B) A book I wish did have a sequel is My Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares. You can’t just leave a story in limbo like that! The publishers didn’t want a sequel, though. 😛
I still need to read The Thief! But I’ll keep that in mind and maybe just pretend it’s a standalone?!😂 But agh, I know publishers are often the reason books don’t get their sequels…or even stop mid-way through a series.😭 Life isn’t fair sometimes.
RE: Allegiant… I agree that suddenly throwing Four’s POV in there made things weird. I mean, I understood when we got to the end, because his POV is completely relevant then… but yeah, the entire series from his POV would be awesome {I mean the scenes in FOUR that are flipped to his POV are awesome}.
And yes, those covers are ugly and I totally judge books by their covers {I do, it’s bad}. I’ll have to see if I can overlook the US covers and try this series out.
And Allegiant wouldn’t have worked without Four’s POV, of course.😂 But yeah! I just think it would’ve been better to have him and Tris dual narrate the whole way through? So it didn’t seem like so haphazardly chucked in?! hhe, but YES! I loved his short stories so the whole series by him would’ve been winning.
Oh I cover judge ALL THE TIME and I’m not even sorry bahahahha. I need nice books for bookstagram after all. 😉
Awesome post Cait! I agree – SPLINTERED WOULD BE A AWESOME MOVIE.
*begins petition for Splintered movie and also for talking cake*
SOMEONE POLITELY ASK TIM BURTON TO GET ONTO THIS FOR US.
Wohoooo, LOVE your tag!
I haven’t read some of these books, so I added a few to my ‘to read’ list, thank you for that! Also, about the new Ronan centered books…I know I might be way too positive, but I’m 100% it will happen and we will all cry!!!! He’s my favourite too, so I can’t wait to read more about him and his story :’)
Love, Carmen x
wandering-banshee.blogspot.com.es
I REALLY REALLY HOPE THE RONAN BOOKS COME THROUGH!! I WILL LITERALLY DIE OF ALL THE FLAILING. <3 He's been my favourite Raven boy since he appeared on the page omg.💕 I also have soooo many questions about his family and his magic. NEED. MORE.
*runs off to add Princess of Thorns to read-asap list*
YES TO THE RAVEN CYCLE SPIN OFF. So much yes!!
I’m hoping for more from Amy Tintera, because sadly I didn’t like Ruined. Which makes me very sad because I loved Reboot!
YES YES YES SPLINTERED AS A MOVIE KMN;KASDJF;KASDF;D I would die to see that movie. MORPHEUS. IN PERSON (well, kinda). BE STILL MY BEATING HEART.
I agree with the dual POV in Allegiant. I think it gave too much away, personally – I fervently avoided any and all spoilers of the book, and as soon as I opened it and saw that it had magically changed to dual POV I knew EXACTLY how it was going to end. It was the only thing that made sense to me as to why they would suddenly change it after two books in Tris’s POV (and I 100% support that ending even though most people hated it). I think she definitely should have done it from the start! Maybe Insurgent wouldn’t have been so…tedious…to read!
That’s too funny, I actually like the new Legacy of Kings cover better! It makes no sense but it’s more appealing to me visually for some reason.
Omg, the Dust Lands series. Blood Red Road was EPIC x100000000 and is still one of my all time favorite dystopian books, but the second book was just AWFUL. Biggest letdown ever. Raging Star wasn’t much better, but I actually loved the way it ended. That was the only thing that redeemed the series for me, because I was a snotty sobbing mess afterward and when I have such a high emotional attachment to a book it gets a higher rating! I LOVE authors who don’t pull punches. (I am a sadist, yes)
Love this post, Cait! I may have to steal this too 😀 (Although mine won’t be half as hilarious as yours, I love reading your posts!!)
Eeeep, I so hope you like Princess of Thorns! IT’S SO UNDERRATED I JUST…GAH. I NEED TO FIX THIS IN THE WORLD. I also clearly need to actually buy a copy.😂 Because, you know, #obsessed.
Awk, sadness about Ruined! That must be one of the few books we aren’t twinning on, right?!
I didn’t actually click about Allegiant being in dual POV…but the whole time I couldn’t tell Tris from Four anyway.😂 I think it really needed more set up…instead of making it seem thrown in and like the 3rd book didn’t know what it was doing? Eeek. AND YES I SUPPORT THE ENDING TOO!! I think it was totally in all the characters’ personalities to do what they did and it was just a good ending. I think people get to comfy reading YA books and think that everyone is going to be safe.😂
GAHHHHH BUT RAGING STAR MADE THE WHOLE SERIES POINTLESS?!? Like it totally did a Mockingjay which I’m okay with. Mostly. But like it totally made all 3 books pointless because Saba didn’t even achieve anything. oh wait. She achieved BREAKING MY HEART.😂
(Definitely steal it!! I want to read your answers!)
LOL! 1) I think you’re hilarious and awesome lol 2) I love this list! I hadn’t heard of this tag but it’s super cute.
If only we could actually change things at the snap of a finger *sigh* lol
Great list 🙂
AWww, thanks Jenn!!😂 It was a totally fun tag! And omg YES it would be nice to just change things about books whenever I wanted.😂
GIVE ME MY SPLINTERED MOVIE RIGHT. NOW. How has it not happened yet? I mean, they’ve signed movie contracts for every crappy book out there (Fifty Shades of Grey. I haven’t even read it but I know what it’s about and really? THAT’S the book you decided to turn into a movie?)
Also, Legacy of Kings new cover is awful. WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT? ORIGINAL COVER IS AWESOME.
I might steal this tag, btw.
I AGREE. IT’S A TERRIBLE TRAGEDY THAT IT HASN’T HAPPENED. *stamps foot* Why isn’t Tim Burton listening and reading my blog? Some things just don’t make sense.
Also anyone who ditches and EPIC bloody sword in favour of a silly little keyhole looking at a building needs to just nope.
Oh yes! STEAL IT!! I’ll look forward to your answers. 😉
EVERY BREATH IS FANTASTIC. but i agree with you, the covers, ahhhhh. i legitimately read mine at home because i didn’t want to bring them to school.
can i just take a moment to talk about EOWYN AND FARAMIR FROM LORD OF THE RINGS. because no, clearly it should be aragorn and faramir. where is my fantasy gay. i want my fantasy gay.
(on the same note, ginny and hermione from hp is my jam.)
this is such a fantastic tag! i loved reading it <3
evelyn clickman @ if these stars shall fall
I legit NEVER TALK ABOUT the Every series because of the covers. It’s such a shame because they’re so good.😂 But how can I bookstagram them? Ew and no.
Bahahah. I didn’t read the LOTR books (well I read the first one and….fell…asleep…shh don’t hurt me) and I didn’t seen any Eowyn/Faramir stuff in the movie so I DON’T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THAT SHIP.😂
Why oh why do publishers change covers?! Sometimes it’s for the best, but for the most part it’s definitely NOT! I got Ruined a few months ago when it first came out, but haven’t read it yet and now I want to since I know you liked it so much! I’m currently reading my first A.G. Howard book, RoseBlood, and I’m loving it! So after this I want to read the Splintered series for sure!
~Sara
I sooo hope you like Ruined! It’s totally underrated I think. :’) And kind of not the “average” epic fantasy either WHICH IS DIVINE. And fajsdkafld you’re already reading Roseblood?!! *shrieks with excitement* SO LUCKY!!
I have the U.S version of the Every Breath series, I only liked the first cover though, and even it is a bit dramatic.
I won mine, but omg I would much rather have the US versions.😂
I have just one thing to say:
‘Grilogy’ is flat out epic and yes the books should now be referred to as that. You are brilliant, Cait.
ALSO WELCOME BACK, I MISSED YOUR POSTSSSSSSS (but i did muchly appreciate the fact that you were writing a book)
(that was two things.)
(oh well)
I’M REALLY GLAD YOU HAD ONE (TWO?) THINGS TO SAY BECAUSE THEY ARE GOOD THINGS AND I APPROVE OF THEM. But c’mon now. I was emailing you all the time while writing.😂 It was totally procrastination but shhhh.😂
I approve of this type of procrastination XD and YES I did muchly appreciate your emails too ^.^ (but I do miss your blog when you hiatus because obviously)
Yep, the bloody sword is always better! I don’t know why mortals think otherwise! The only book I can think of right now that I would want to have a sequel would be Killer Potential by Aften Brook Szymanski. I feel like it would be cool to see where some characters end up after the story ends. 🙂
Swords are ALWAYS better. Omg, I don’t even understand how anyone could think a keyhole is better than a sword. *shrieks*😂
Yay! You’re back from writing hiatus, Cait! : D
I seriously must be lacking in the reading-any-kind-of-sequel deparment, haha. For A) the only one I can think of is Conspiracy of Smoke & Bone by Anne Blankman, mainly because it was disappointing after the first book. : ( B) However, I think it would be amazing if Jennifer L. Holm wrote a sequel for Penny from Heaven (one of my all time favourite books); it could be set, like, eight years later when Penny is nearly finished High School.
And, yes, bring on all the tags. (My humble underling opinion.) : )
YES I AM!! It’s nice to be back. :’) And eep, I haven’t read Conspiracy of Smoke and Bone yet, but that’s seriously disappointed. *wails* I wasn’t enamoured with the first one, unfortunately, although I do plan eventually to read more. Hahah. EVENTUALLY. omg my TBR is a beast.😂
I quite like doing tags!! I have no idea why I don’t do them very often!?? SO MUCH FUN.
I totally agree with you about The Book Thief. I mean, yeah, Death basically told us what was going to happen but I still thought it was a horrible mistake somehow or I thought maybe Death was pulling some kind of crazy practical joke. That ending was just too heartbreaking.
I mean, IT’S NARRATED BY DEATH. But. Still. #Denial *runs way to sob about it forever*
Goodness… finally you are back! Welcome back! I hope the 130K words you’ve written will make their way into my life sooner than later!
Now then…
Seeing how Harry Potter is the only series I’ve ever read, I’m probably not one to comment on sequels… personally, given my extremely tiny attention span and constant need of change, I tend to settle for stand alone. Also, my favorite genre is lit. Fic. Not sure if there is even the possibility of having a series here…
Totally get wanting to have your favorite author author more books! One of my cent favorites is Ryu Murakami. (Not the Murakami I keep bugging you about… a different Murakami… ) and although he has written like some 40 or 50 books, only a handful has been translated and that is NOT COOL.
May be I should learn Japanese…
When it comes to books, I’m not much for romance, as a matter of fact, I quite dislike them. BUT… I absolute LOVE romance in manga. Like… WTF … and when my ship sinks, I’m PISSED! The feels kill me dude…
Can I read your book now?
AWW, I’M GLAD YOU MISSED ME. *twirls most gloriously* and hey it was only 10 days! I mean, I finished writing earlier than that, but then I was lazy.😂 Ahem. But omg you’ve only read ONE series?!? Eeep! I struggle to finish series a lot, but I have read quite a few.😂 Standalones ARE good though, because so much less commitment. #win
Yes totally just go learn Japanese. I mean why haven’t you already? WHERE ARE YOUR PRIORITIES HERE.
(I’m going to do a snippet post about my book. That will be sufficient, yes?😂)
SO WITH YOU FOR THE EVERY SERIES. It’s honestly just such a book crime.
I’m also still not over The Book Thief. Still.
It is a notorious book crime. Why can’t they get redone, too, btw?? Publishers redo EVERYTHING these days…except what really needs redoing.😭 And pfft, The Book Thief was just full of TYPOS. We all know this.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
AHHHH
AH.
Remember how I was desperate for Christmas time to come round for the Splintered trilogy? Well, we moved the beginning of this summer and JUST checked out the new library a couple weeks ago (how did we not know that there was one?!) AND OMGOODNESS THEY HAVE THE WHOLE SPLINTERED TRILOGY. (Except Untamed. But, you know, there’s still Christmas for that.) AND I’M ON ENSNARED AND MY LITTLE HEART. EEK!!!!!
I really don’t think that my little brother gets the excruciating pain that my heart is going through right now.
OKAY THAT IS THE BEST NEWS EVER, ALYSSA. SQUEEEE!!!!!!! I so hope you love them all and we can flail insanely together. <3 And yes you actually definitely need Untamed because it has GLORIOUS stories about Morpheus that is needed for like humanity's existence. :')
Pfft, brothers are useless sometimes. THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND. I shall flail with you!!
Argh, I can never get through one of your post without feeling super super hungry!
Anyway, a book I wish didn’t have a sequal is Every Day by David Levithan. I didn’t care for that book at all, and I’ve heard that the sequel was just completely unnecessary, so WHY? And I wish Eleanor and Park had a sequel! The ending was just not okay, and I NEEd to know what happened afterwards!
It’s a CURSE honestly. I can never get through writing a post without feeling super hungry.😂
Omg I COMPLETELY agree about Eleanor and Park. What was that ending?!?!? It was cruel. *stamps foot* I will actually beg for closure on that one. Beeeeg. Someone fetch me Rainbow Rowell, I need start a petition *howls*
The world definitely needs some telling on what to do by an intelligent human being. You are perfect for the role jejje 😀 Glad you’re back from your hiatus girl. The blogosphere missed you 😀
I completely accept the responsibility of telling the world what to do. *twirls majestically* 😂
I completely agree with your plan for the Splintered series! Someone please make this happen!!
It would be beyond amazing to watch!! 😍
Soooo true about raging star!! Oh my god.. Book one was brilliant, and then it was just.. ugh. The second one was okay, and the less said about the last one, the better.
Also. About that series. TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN EBOOK. What silliness is this..?? Is this the 18th century? I have problems getting non-ebooks where I live, it was totally a pain in.. there.
Also! I welcome myself to your blog 😀
— @AvalinahsBooks from Twitter.
Yes exactly.😂😂 I mean, like I LOVE the writing and the characters..but I just think certain, um, decisions at the ending made the entire trilogy a bit pointless. I don’t feel like Saba achieved anything at the end of 3 books and that’s nooooot how it should be!!
And it’s not an ebook?! I’ve bought the ebook off amazon for a giveaway for someone before!😱
ALSO WELCOME TO YOUR BLOG!! YOU GET CAKE! 😀
Hmmm. Maybe it was an ebook before I read it? All I know was that I spent two years looking for books 2 and 3 as ebooks, and to no avail, The reason might be that I can only shop for that on the American Amazon, so maybe it’s not released there. At that time I felt so annoyed at it! I mean, if you live in the middle of nowhere and honestly want to buy the books, you’re pretty much reduced to stealing it through some torrent cause there’s just no way to get it!! So degrading. And sad.
The writing – the part I loved the most was the language (dialect?) she invented! That was so amazing in the first book. And Saba was so strong, so full of feeling in the first book. As for the sacrifice of her friend – perhaps if it hadn’t happened the story could have gone another way. I feel like Saba was a lot weaker in the other books. All she did was talk back, but didn’t do things anymore. The burning power was gone. Such a shame..
And I think it ended for me after what happened to her sister. After that I just wrote the book off. For me, it became like “Okay, so that’s NOT how the story ended, I’ll have my own ending, thank you, but I will see how YOU thought it ended.”
Also. I get cake!! Yay!!! (where’s the cake emote xD)
YAY CAIT YOU’RE BACK!!!!! Congrats on the novel by the way! 🙂
I totally agree that there were too may typos at the end of “The Book Thief” like what?! Who even edited this book?! Clearly they don’t know how to edit books properly. XD Ha ha. ha….. *begins to sob about the ending all over again* I mean honestly my mother was so concerned for me after I stumbled down into the kitchen unable to speak because of how hard I was crying after reading that book.
*ahem* Anyways.
What do you MEAN there are just rumors about the Ronan books?! I thought they were true! Have I been lied to?! Please help!!
I do believe this is your true calling though Cait. You did such a fabulous job. 🙂
YES I’M BAAAACK. I KNOW YOU MUST’VE MISSED ME ABOMINABLY. *flails* 😂
And seriously. The Book Thief had WAY TOO MANY TYPOS. Sheesh. A reprinting wouldn’t be amiss. Especially if I edit it. I’ll rewrite that awkward typo at the end to instead say: AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY. EVER. AFTER. ALIVE. *stamps foot*
*retreats to cry*
Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean about the Ronan books? I linked to the post Maggie did on them! In progress, but not sold as far as I know. 🙂
That’s actually a really good point that Allegiant shouldn’t have introduced a split POV in the THIRD BOOK OF THE TRILOGY. Consistency in style, much?!
YUP. I think that was half the problem, honestly, because it made things seem thrown in instead of planned out?? gah.
So, I am down with removing Raging Star from the universe, sign me up. BUUUT… I did really love Rebel Heart? ::Checks Goodreads to see what Cait thought of it:: Aw, you loved it too, YAY. And then BOO for Raging Star. Can we please get a do-over? I think we deserve a do-over.
I want The Book Thief to end differently too. Of course. Also, please get the cover gods to help Every Breath. I have it but I must admit, every time I look at the cover, I think “hm, not right now….”. I also agree about Allegiant. I hated the last book, but not just because of the end. BUT the minute the dual POV was announced, I also KNEW the end. Why else would you do that in a last book? Yeah, plus it was boring. So there’s that. I want to see… I don’t know, ALL the books be movies, because that is the only way I ever go to the movies, and I like popcorn. So there’s that. This tag was FUN!
Like I kind of loved the WHOLE series but then in retrospect I like to pretend they didn’t exist.😂 I mean, it’s just CERTAIN DEATHS that made me lose my mind. I’m all for lopping off characters…but not, um, all of them? *goes away to sob*
I didn’t actually twig for the reason for the dual-POV! I’m dense I know.😂 But it just felt thrown in randomly, which did make it kind of sloppy?? It’s totally cool to, ya know, kill characters (OMG AGAIN) but you have to set it up right or just argh argh. Popcorn is delicious. Book-to-movie adaptions should totally just exist so we can eat popcorn.
I love your post . Please do more in the future 😄 I’m kind of the reader that ask for stand alone but when she got them she is not satisfied. Ha ha. I always wanted more. One of the books I really want a sequel to is Eleanor & Park. Why end it in one book? The ending was so… I need more!!!! The Mortal Instruments was one of those series I wish have ended long before it actually did. I’m not hating the series or loving it. Ahem. I-only-read-this-series-because-I-love-Malec.
Aww, thanks Elin! *flails happily* 😊 And I TOTALLY get you about the standalone thing! Me too honestly.😂 I want them, but then I end up wanting mooooore. And it’s a problem honestly, sheesh. And what was WITH Eleanor and Park?!? Worst ending ever. *goes away to sob*
MUAHAHAHA I LOVE THIS. How do you always come up with such creative topics to blog about?? TEACH ME YOUR GENIUS, DUDE. <3 wow omg so many of these…such accuracy such truth. :') ESPECIALLY ALLEGIANT WOW YES. “we could’ve … had many more chapters of Four punching people and eating cake.” <<< MY HEART. YES. WE NEEDED THIS. HOW COME VERONICA ROTH DIDN'T COME TO YOU FOR ADVICE?? (Also I never read the Four spin-off books but I feel like these events from his POV could have been beautifully incorporated into the trilogy. UGH WHY DO YOU PUT THESE IDEAS IN MY HEAD, CAIT?? YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE FOUR. ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE WAFFLES. :”””)
I DON’T. I STEAL THEM, REMEMBER?!?😂 But seriously, stealing tags is my go-to when I have no idea what to blog about haha. Ahem.
But yes, omg, why didn’t we just have the whole trilogy from Four’s perspective, tbh? Tris had the emotional range of a teaspoon and that’s slightly disappointing. And YES I loved Four’s little stories more than the Divergent trilogy basically. I loooove the damaged tragic boys I CAN’T HELP MYSELF. But omg Four is on level with waffles? THIS IS BIG STUFF, ABBIE.
I did this one awhile back! So fun! Also I adore your answers and your STELLARTASTIC photos!!! As usual. 😉 Also more tags would be fun, yes. 😀
OMG THANK YOU, DEBORAH. <3 You always say such niiiiice things. Eeeep!! It is such a fun and clever tag. And like kind of different to a lot of the others so I'm 100% down for this.😂
I loved Princess of Thorns! It was so, so good. And I would totally 100% support a sequel existing in the world 😉
It’s kind of UNFAIR that it ended, right?!? Mooooore. *shrieks and flails around*
The Raven Cycle series REALLY needs a spin-off, like, HOW CAN YOU COME UP WITH SOMETHING SO KICKASS AND THEN JUST LEAVE US YEARNING FOR MORE??? I did see on twitter that the author will be writing a series centered on Ronan, but I’m NOT going to get my hopes all the way up and then have them crushed mercilessly. Ronan is by far my mostest favoritest and ARGH I LOVE THEM ALL THOUGH. It’s safe to say I LOVE this series to bits. I’m yet to read the other books (I’m hopeless), but I’m most interested in The Book Thief. Everyone who has read it seems to love it, and I’m very curious about those deaths now 😀
Saaaame. I don’t like to get my hopes to get too high, even though I’m SEVERELY SURE it’ll happen *nods* Maggie Stiefvater seems pretty famous and has a huge fanbase and that usually equals an author getting to write what they want. I WANT THIS SO BAD THOUGH. RONAN IS MY FAVOURITE DARLING OF THEM ALL. *shrieks*
Yet again, you speak my thoughts into the universe! Ronan books are coming. They MUST be. No publisher in their right mind would refuse to buy them when they KNOW they’ll be a goldmine. I’m also 100% down with Tim Burton directing a Splintered series! Have we discussed this before or are you just in my head, because I’m pretty sure I’ve expressed this same thought on multiple occasions SO CLEARLY WE ARE MIND TWINS.
You’ve also convinced me to read Princess of Thorns, because I don’t think I’ve yet to dislike any book you love, and you love so many books I also love. I consider you my book guru.
I KNOW RIGHT?!? THEY HAVE TO BE COMING OR I WILL GO OUT OF MY MIND AND IT WON’T BE PRETTY. *starts shrieking at the moon* We need them. All of them. Now. Someone get me a publisher so I can beg them to be sensible and make this 100% official. *nods*
I’M PROBABLY IN YOUR HEAD. <-- seems legit And omg really!? That means we must have super similar taste!! I shall have to stalk you for excellent book recommendations then sometime!!
Clearly all deaths in books are typos, Cait.
I prefer the older cover of The Legacy of Kings as well though I don’t dislike the new one. But the new one just seems a bit too nice and light for what the book is about (from what I have heard as I haven’t read it).
ABSOLUTELY. Because I mean, no author would be that mean ON PURPOSE, right??!?
And YES, I think the new Legacy of Kings cover is just too happy for how stabby it is. (It’s such a good book though….totally recommend it!)
OH MY GIDDY AUNT, how can Lascar just end with “he was finally home” and not say anything about his brother? I mean seriously? THAT IS BASICALLY WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR THROUGH THE ENTIRE BOOK AND THEN THEY DON’T EVEN SAY WHETHER HE’S STILL ALIVE OR NOT??? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD!! I DEMAND A SEQUEL.
I can’t really think of a book that shouldn’t have a sequel… Although I do think Jane Blonde went on for wayyyy too long.
Simi
Eeeep, it’s not fair when books leave us hanging like that is it?! *howls on your behalf*
I am just now reading Book Thief…after just balling out my eyes from The Nightingale. I’m curious to see how I take the ending but appreciate the warning. Love your list!
GOOD LUCK WITH THE BOOK THIEF!! *hands you tissues and chocolate*
I also think that Allegiant should have had one POV. Four’s POV just seemed weirdand randomly placed.
Haven’t heard of Every Breath but yeah, the cover needs a change.
Agreed. :/ I mean, I liked Four a LOT, but his voice didn’t seem that different to Tris’??? So it was confusing. *wails*
I am #agree on all of these. Except #2. #2 just makes me jealous and I must muchly sit in the corner and cry. I SUFFER TO GET MY BOOKS. I need a book patron maybe most certainly. #lifegoals.
WELL THIS IS AWKWARD. I commented on the wrong post. How embarrassing. This was SUPPOSED TO BE FOR YOUR CONFESSIONS POST AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I GOT HERE. Please excuse me while I die of shame.
