Well, greetings, my frabjous friends!
It’s recap time! You’ve probably noticed I don’t do a weekend recap every week now, this is because I’m pruning my blog schedule. (So I have more time to reply to comments and chat on your blogs.) But I’ll recap occasionally, and definitely at the end of the month. Because it’s fun. I like fun things.
So goodbye January, hellooooo February!
T H E S T A C K
Unwanted – surprise from Penguin! // Skulduggery Pleasant 4: Mortal Coil – it’s absolutely beaten up, but I got it for 50cents // Ensnared – thanks Thames and Hudson – also afjdklsafdf // Of Metal and Wishes – library – I’ve wanted to this forever…phantom of the opera retelling? YES PLEASE // I’ll Give You the Sun – library – I’ve only heard good things! // Black Heart – library – conclusion to my newest favouritest con artist trilogy // Endgame – I won this from Harpercollins and it’s signed, let me flaaaail // Red Queen – thank you Hachette – it’s a finished copy and it’s beautiful (I have already read it)
Do you know how long I’ve been dying for Ensnared by A.G. Howard? It’s the conclusion to the Splintered Wonderland retelling trilogy and….I NEED IT LIKE I NEED AIR. Of course I ate it already. It was perfection. I may cry. Give me a second.*
* Although, in case you jump to conclusion about my happiness since I aggressively ship Morpheus and Alyssa…it doesn’t work out like I planned. But I am two thousand percent happy.
V O T E! Y A Y!

IN JANUARY, I READ 25 BOOKS
Technically I read 5 comics 20 novels. (All these books link to their reviews on goodreads!)
- Best book? It is, without doubt, ENSNARED! (Are you surprised?!) But close follow ups are The Darkest Part of the Forest (which was my first 5-star rating for the year) and the Death Cure (another 5-star and totally perfect trilogy conclusion).
- Wish I’d never read? Ugh, definitely Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It was so dumb. It ended up being a recap of the movie and was very badly written.
- Did I laugh? I read 3 Percy Jackson books and giggled in each of them.
- Cover love? Definitely Red Queen! I pouted about the actual book but the cover. OH THE COVER LOVE.
- Most eaten genre? As always…PARANORMAL WINS. Gosh, do I need to expand my horizons or what? (Probably not, though. I love me some paranormal.) I’ve also got 3 books towards the Fairy Tale Retelling challenge!
- Ratings? I had an awful blogging slump where I felt like I rated EVERYTHING 3-stars. I couldn’t commit to loving or hating it. But then I did have four 5-star reads and that’s makes me happy.

THE TIME I DID NOT READ
Who are we kidding? I mostly read this month. Although I have started edits on my book The Dead Boy And The Paper Cut. I’ve edited two chapters and therefore think I deserve a 3 week break. (Right? RIGHT?!) Okay, fine…I’ll work. I just find editing excruciatingly hard.
So I zentangled some Ensnared fanart. #procrastinatinglikeaqueen

LATELY, ON INSTAGRAM
Click on the pictures to jump over to my instagram for bigger images! I love instagram, by the way. It is the ultimate place for gorgeous bookish photography.
Ooh ooh ooh! I’m in that screen shot! *squeals in excitement*
I’m so glad you gave Ensnared 5 stars – I really enjoyed the first two books, but get far too involved with love triangles, so I’ve been fretting about Morpheus NOT getting his wicked way (because why would you choose a human boy if you can have a guy with WINGS?!). So that’s a relief!
Oh and congratulations on starting your editing. My writing progress so far this year is a page of nonsense notes as I try to work out something that resembles a plot…!
Beth x
Yaaay!!! I\’ve only just found you on instagram but your pictures are soooo beautiful. x)
OH YES. The ending pleased me, but it wasn\’t exactly what I\’d have picked. I can understand a lot of fans are going to be annoyed. >.> And not just Morpheus shippers. Jeb shippers too. OOHHH THE MYSTERY. lol I\’m trying to write a review and dying and failing because IT\’S SO HARD WITHOUT SPOILERS.
Good work on starting your editing. I know exactly what you mean about taking breaks. Actually, I’m procrastinating on editing an important scene with a council and eavsedroppers and the start of the inciting incident, while I’m writing this comment. I love my book. I really do. But editing it? Ugh, everything else suddenly seems so much more important and interesting.
Best book I’ve read so far this year? Blue Lily, Lily Blue, hands down. I read it at the beginning of the month and there’s still nothing yet to beat it. Ugh, why isn’t the next Raven Cycle book ready for me to read? I hate being left on a cliffhanger. At least I can console myself by reading the first three books again. For once I think i actually own my favourite series, which makes a change.
Ohh, we shall procrastinate together! I\’m procrastinating right now by answer comments. hehe. I LOVE MY BOOK TOO. But it\’s a mess. -_-
Ohhh, Blue Lily was spectacular. I\’m SO glad you love that series. ^_^ I\’m desperately dying for the last book. *cries*
I literally finished All Fall Down by Ally Carter last night and I am still reeling. It is the best book I have read in forever. I only bought it yesterday (along with The Sin-Eater’s Daughter – and no, I didn’t really NEED to buy books but eh, books are like oxygen) and it’s already finished. Oh my God, I never saw the twists coming!
My month has been exam revision and rewriting my WIP (I’d edited so much of it that the unedited bits now looked god-awful so a full rewrite it is 🙁 ). Good luck with your editing!
Series to finish in 2015 – mainly MG ones that were either on my pile for the whole of last year (sorry Magnificent 12) and that I didn’t quite manage to get my hands on (*waves at Hollow Earth trilogy*). In YA – The Raven Cycle (the fourth one comes out this year, right?), Starters (Still haven’t even SEEN a copy of Enders IRL) and The Hunger Games (I still have the third one on my pile).
GAHHSAFDAFKL! I want to read that so so bad! YAY THAT IT\’S GOOD!! Hey yes we do need to buy books. Come now. Buying books is like eating food. I\’m excited for the Sin Eater\’s Daughter so so much. xD I\’M GLAD IT IS ALSO GOOD.
I never finished the Magnificent 12 either. My bad. I did read the first book years ago but I\’ve mostly forgotten it now. WAH. I CANNOT LITERALLY CONTAIN HOW EXCITED I AM FOR RAVEN BOYS 4.
I am super stoked to read Ensnared. Because Morpheus. And also I keep hearing people raving about it, SO. I must get my hands on a copy of this ASAP. Gah, the cover for Red Queen looks spectacular, doesn’t it? Another one I’m dying to read. This year through I really need to finish the Daughter of Smoke and Bones series; I have the next book in my possession, but at the moment it’s not really doing much but sitting pretty on my shelf. Best book I’ve read? HM. I would have to say THE FALCONER by Elizabeth May. <3
Can't wait to see what you think of I'LL GIVE YOU THE SUN. It looks awesome. 😀
I\’m possibly doing a give away of it so STAY TUNED. hehe. Ohhh my gosh I need to finish Laini Taylor\’s series too. *nods* I\’m kind of putting off the last one because I don\’t want it to end. It\’s so so beautiful. 0.0
CAIT I STARTED ENSNARED TWO DAYS AGO OMG PLZ SAY THE ENDING ISN’T SAD OR BAD I MEAN I CANT I JUST CANT A\JHSDFGJKMJHFB
ALSO.
major jealously that you own Red Queen AND I’ll Bring You the Sun. and WOAH THAT’S A LOT OF BOOKS..I read..four…one a week. not bad for being at college full time too though right..;)
HAVE YOU FINISHED READING IT YET? GO FINISH IT. I\’M NOT SPILLING SPOILERS. DUH.
My library is ajfdlksads so good it had I\’ll Give You The Sun and I SCREAMED.
WHAT, NO CONTEMPORARY??? *throws books in a rage* How disappointing.
BUT ASDFGJLKSJGLKSJD ENSNARED. I’M ABOUT TO START READING IT TONIGHT. HELP. But at least I know you loved it 😀
Oh my gosh, though, the amount of books I came home to O_O you’ll see them all tomorrow, but basically I’m never going to have a manageable TBR!
Omg, I just realised that! NO CONTEMPORARIES THIS JANUARY! HA. Although my most genre read last year was contemporary so…I still have time. 😉
You’re killing me with Ensnared. And Black Heart. And I’ll Give You the Sun. Okay, basically every book here that my library doesn’t want to give me. *cries* anyways Cait, looks like you had a great month bookwise 25 books! That’s awesome. And pshaw. Why expand your book tastes if you like them so much!
I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS PILE THOUGH. I JUST WANNA READ THEM ALL AT ONCE. And I agree. *nods* I have found something I like, why mess with it!?
OMG ENSNARED! I haven’t even started the series yet (I know!!) but I’m happy that you enjoyed it! I do love retellings though, so I might start it this year!
I’M VOTING FOR BLACK HEART!! You gotta finish the Curse Workers series, it’s as good as the previous installments <3
And congrats for getting to the editing part of your books! Finishing one is an amazing achievement itself — you should be proud! 😀 It's even already difficult for me to finish a short story haha.
My month has been like usual. This week I had lots of tests but thank goodness they will end on Monday, with History and Indonesian as the last subjects ^^ I think I did well on most of them (except physics, but oh well.) I have A LOT of series to catch up with, but my biggest priority is probably Blood of Eden trilogy by Julie Kagawa. I've only read the first book — I looooved it though! And The Lumatere Chronicles as well. (I KNOW YOU LOVE FINNIKIN, CAIT.)
YOU NEED TO GET ONTO THIS SERIES ASAP. *FLAILS AND WAILS* It\’s like my favourite of ever. hehe.
Gah, YES, I do need to finish those adorable Curseworkers. Half of me doesn\’t want it to end though. *hugs Cassel* Ha! Yes! Finishing a book feels really good and editing is just…it\’s like going backwards, I guess? Which is maybe why I growl at it so much.
Ohhh, TESTS ARE STRESSFUL. Yay that you did well though…boo for physics though. 🙁 omg yes yes yes to The Lumatere Chronicles. How terrible is it that I only read book 1 though, right?! I\’ve given it 5-stars I just…haven\’t … read the next ones. o.O
My January has been filled with school (like most of my time usually is), but I think I have finally kicked my reading slump at long last and have been able to read almost every day! I didn’t finish as many books as I’d liked to… but I’m okay with it!
I still have yet to pick up Splintered, but it is at the top of my TBR. Your raving has convinced me.
And, can I just say that the new Fantastic Four looks awesome!? The Marvel movies just keep getting better and better!
ohh, I am lucky in Australia because January is basically holidays all round. xD Well, I\’ve been working but my sister has been off school so it\’s kind of felt like a holiday still. 😉
YAYAYAYYA!! MY WORK HERE IS DONE IF YOU\’RE GOING TO READ SPLINTERED TOO. x)
Yes, I\’m excited for Fantastic Four! I was dubious, but the trailer looks. so. freaking. awesome.
Ugh I think I have to start reading more fairy tale retellings ’cause they all sound awesome. In my country, there are mostly stupid thriller apparent-fairy-tale-retellings-aka-we-use-the-names which I don’t like but I think I have to give the ones you read a shot ’cause they sounds pretty great.
Also, the best book I’ve read this month has to be Two Boys Kissing. It was a little bit better than Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe. (But then I read a bit of Harry Potter again and Harry Potter is still amazing. It’s hard to tell.)
Nadja 🙂
I\’m doing this fairy tale challenge and I\’m TRYING to read at least 15 retellings this year. So having eaten 3 already makes me pleased. x)
Ohhh, I really want to read a David Leviathan book! I\’ve read Will Grayson, but that\’s only half his, so I still need to read a full. 😉
I’m so happy you lovedEnsnared! And you read 20 novels! Wow! That’s awesome. I don’t know how many I read but I guarantee not that many. And you reviewed them? You are a super hero. How is it February?
I do review them all, but not on my blog. XD Just goodreads. I thiiiink I reviewed maybe 4 or 5 books on the blog this month?? XD
Gah. I don\’t know. February came awfully fast. 0.0
Sounds like you had a wonderful month in the reading world. My favorite for this month was probably “And the Mountains Echoed” by Khaled Hossieni. Whew. Why is it that I love books that manipulate my every emotion and slowly tear my heart into incy little pieces…?
As far as series go… I’ve actually never read Harry Potter. Seems like something I should probably read someday. This may be the year to do it.
I love books that rip out my soul too. It\’s ridiculous. BUT I CANNOT STOP READING THEM.
I voted for I’ll Give You The Sun because I just read it and LOVED it!! It was just so, so, so amazing. Hope you enjoy it.
I\’ve heard SO many good things about it I\’m literally squeeeeing to read it. XD
I also started editing this month, and it is excruciatingly difficult and SLOOOOWWWW…..On the positive side, it’s really nice to see my first draft improve before my eyes. I want to read the Splintered trilogy so bad right now, because I don’t think I’ve ever read an Alice in Wonderland retelling, and this one sounds fabulous. I also want to read Red Queen when it comes out. I don’t often read dystopian, but this one looks good. Hmmm…favorite book I’ve read so far this year? For nonfiction it would be The Innovators by Walter Isaacson and for fiction it would be Watership Down by Richard Adams and Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch.
SLOW is the word. ARGH. It\’s really hard when I drafted this book at 10K a day bascially and now I\’m editing 2K a day. <– ON GOOD DAYS. Gah. But I prefer to write fast and edit slow. 😉
afjdksla I need everyone to read Splintered, I do, I really do. It\'s absolutely amazing. I would die happy if I could write like that. And SNOW LIKE ASHES! YAY! I have that on reserve at the library!
I’m currently reading Ensnared and your excitement is infectious! (Morpheus. *sigh*)I’ve pretty much forgotten to keep my expectations at bay. Seems like you’ve had a great month, both reading and blogging wise. I mean 25 books? My number is 3 books…I blame school. And best book I’ve read? Uh, well, just 3 books and my favorite one is Apple & Rain. What an easy pick, eee.
Happy reading! I’m excited to see what you think of Of Metal and Wishes.
MORPHEUSSSSS. There is so much between Morpheus and Jeb in this one also, which makes me giggle. XD I like Apple & Rain too, although I found it kind of depressing at first. Still, it was a sweet one. x)
YOU GOT ENSNARED FOR FREE
i can’t even be your friend anymore
but i also giggled and choked every time you mentioned it
so yeah
XD
DUDE, THIS IS THE REASON I BLOG, YES? SO I COULD GET ENSNARED.
OH MY GOSH THE FANTASTIC FOUR TRAILER!!!! I have been wanting a Fantastic Four movie (well, a new one) ever since i got this adorable little Mr. Fantastic keychain. Seriously, he’s adorable. But I am suuuuper excited for that movie.
The cover for last Keeper of the Lost Cities book…and it’s gorgeous. And it has Keefe on it! So i am happy, but also dying inside cause I want to read that book NOW. As for books I’m actually reading, I got a copy of Peter Pan from the library and it turns it has really creepy illustrations that make Peter look like a demented goblin child. And Wendy…gosh, she looks creepy too.
And I’m also reading Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson, cause Since You’ve Been Gone was amazing. I’m liking it so far! I started Plenilune, too, but that one’s going to take a while to read. It’s good but it’s sooooo long.
I was dubious, but but but NOW I AM EXCITED!! The cast looks awesome and it looks like they won\’t follow exactly in foot steps with the old. *nods* This is going to rock.
Ugh, demented goblin child?? I mean, I guess that\’s not too out of character for him BUT STILL. He\’s supposed to represent innocents and sweetness, isn\’t he? Or something. Or just ignore me. hehe.
I want to read Second Chance Summer too!! Eventually. HEeh. My tbr is huge.
I WATCHED THE DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST TRAILER!! And mmm… that creepiness!! It was already on my 2015 TBR but I NEED THIS LIKE NOWW!! AAAHHHH!! … I also scared my sister with this! *cackles* But she found out that it was a trailer for a book and then stuck out her tongue at me and at all the chocolate… Evil!!
I LURVE DA DOODLE!!! 😀 I have Splintered and Unhinged with me right now and thank goodness Ensnared is out because I probably won’t be able to wait for it to come out! Now I shall read Splintered!! 😀
No likey Red Queen? *pouts* The cover is gggggggggoooooooooorrrrrrrrggggggggggggeeeeeeeeoooooouuuuuuuuussss and so purty!! *sigh* I hope I love it, though!
Ooh! Productive month with 25 books! 😀
Awesome post!
~Fari 0:)
ISN\’T IT SO DELICIOUSLY CREEPY?!! I love the trailer. I just want the book to be a movie now. xD
OH LUCKY YOU who didn\’t have to wait for Ensnared. XDXD I started the series when Splintered came out and it\’s been agony the years waiting for the next books. xD
I actually refuse to read Endgame because the author *blech* I think you should read I’ll Give You The Sun. I haven’t read Ensnared, but I want to. I’ve heard mixed things on it, especially because the ending.
ALSO HOW TF DO YOU READ 25 BOOKS IN ONE MONTH?! HOW?! Like I read 17 and I thought I was the queen of the clouds, okay? I BOW DOWN 😛
I love that your ratings were mostly positive. mine are mainly negative, so I guess that balances. I’ve been told that I’m a really tough critic, which I guess isn’t all that bad of a thing.
The best book I read this month? URGH, tough critic remember. Gone Too Far by Natalie D. Richards was definitely a favorite!
My Stacking the Shelves + Montly Recap here!
Ohh, why? Did the author do something? I like know nothing about it just that I won it.
I do see how the ending of Ensnared will ruffle feathers BUT I LOVED IT. hehe. I\’m easy to please though if I love the author and the previous books. BAHAH. Hey I just read someone\’s recap and they\’d read 30 books, so, they win the world. xD
I actually felt like I had SUCH a negative month, but then looking back on my stats, I have a huge load of 4-stars so I should be happy. 😉
So. Informative. Wow. I applaud you for being able to cram ALL THIS INFO into one post. ALL HAIL CAIT.
Also, I have heard extremely mixed reviews on the Splintered trilogy, but now since your love it, I shall buy it. Yay. And yes, Instagram is book-pic heaven.
YAY! I hope it wasn\’t too much though. My little monthly info-dump, right?! >_< afjdskla I really love Splintered, I have literally zero negative things to say about it. x)
Oooo, best book of the month has to be.. get ready.. Dream Thieves! Okay, don’t scream too loud Cait, seriously, calm yourself. It definitely wasn’t at all bad, followed by Love Bomb and The Last Leaves Falling, both 4 stars each, my best of the month, nothing else was really close.. I plan on finishing a lot of series this yeah, main one being Spooks, but I’m planning on reading Divergent, Uglies and finishing Raven Boys too, so there’s that. Hey, you know I’m pleased about Skully, you’ve fallen in love, and beaten up or not, that just shows love, and there’s a lot for this series, especially from me. Oh man, you’ve still got 5 including Mortal Coil to read, oh damn, this one could kill your feels – TANITH – *breathes heavily* Good luck friend.. 😀
*screams*
YOU HAVE EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT TASTE, MIGHT I ADD, AMANDA. AHHHH! YOU ARE A STIEFVATER FANGIRL FOR SURE! *ahem* So yes, I shall calm down and collect myself. But wait. Finishing Raven Boys? Did you read Dream Thieves first? HMMM????
*gulps* I\’m actually partially putting off Mortal Coil because FEEEEELINGS. I know they\’re going to be stabbed.
Really want to finish The Mortal Instruments series! I have City of Souls with me, and fingers crossed will stumble across City of Heavenly Fire soon enough! 😀 Haha, best book I read this year will probably go to The Poisonwood Bible. It took me a while to get through and I didn’t always agree with the writer but her style is immaculate! 😀
The zentangle looks brilliant! 😀 (Also need to find and demolish Splintered if the Mad Hatter gif is anything to go by!).
Oh! I approve of that! That\’s one of my top series of last year. XD
HAHAHAHAHA… I’ve read only 7 books so far this year. xD I’ve been slacking. I was gonna try to read one book per day during the winter months, but… no.
Aw, that sucks that you didn’t like that Captain America novelization. 🙁 I know you said your library doesn’t have The Winter Soldier graphic novel (from which the movie was adapted) but if you ever do get your hands on it, I think you’ll like it. 🙂 I LOVE that author’s (Ed Brubaker) comics.
Mortal Coil is #5, actually, not #4, but anyway that’s the one I voted for. 😀 😀 😀 😀
AWK, you slacker. But you\’re actually doing school right now, aren\’t you? So that\’s commendable. *nods* I\’m still partially on holidays because we have family over and…eh. It\’s too hard to concentrate on working full time when there are guests around. I totally totally think I\’d love the Winter Soldier graphic. I NEEEEDS IT. I think I\’ll suggest they buy it. Hehe. Because they do buy suggestions!
Ooh pfft. You know what I mean with Mortal Coil. xD
When does your Ensnared review go up?! Wasn’t it delicious? I almost ship Jeb and Morpeus now. A.G. is going to be having a contest for one of five Ensnared hardcovers (signed) and it is INTERNATIONAL! The preview is on her website in the blog post about her thoughts on Ensnared. The post is spoiler free, but there is a link to a PDF full of storyline insight.
http://authoraghoward.blogspot.com/2015/01/my-per…
My week? Well the best thing was I got approved for INVASION OF THE TEARLING on Edelweiss!!!!!!! Now if I can get Of Delicate Pieces from Month9 Books I will have ARCs for my four top most anticipateds in 2014! Because my roomie changed her plans and I can no longer go to BEA, I bought books from Book Outlet. The order came to $42.42, so I am expecting to miraculously know the meaning of life when I open my package. Lol. Part of my order was all three Bithright books (the chocolate books) by Gabrielle Zevin, in hardcover. I hope they all match.
HOPEFULLY THIS WEEK. I just have to get my brain together and review it. XD So far I just want to flail and draw fanart. HAHA. Ohh, I know what you mean….they had quite a bit of zing going on. 😉 They\’re adorable. I love how it ended, though, and yes! I went and read all of AG Howard\’s thoughts like 2 seconds after I put down the book. I get why she was a bit worried but I THINK SHE MADE THE PERFECT DECISION. *nods*
OHhh YAY!!! Lucky you!! Awk, but that\’s sad you\’re not going to BEA. 🙁 That must be a bit disappointing. But still. BOOKS.
Ensnared, Ensnared, Ensnared!! Ooh I LOVED it! I totally cheated, I couldn’t take the not knowing! About a 100 pages in I skipped ahead and read the last page. And I couldn’t stop there! I read the entire Epilogue… LOL! I NEVER do this! But I’m glad I did 😀
Ensnared was my most anticipated book this year… so now that it’s out of the way, I can pretty much relax! Well, until A Court of Thorns and Roses is released… And Queen of Shadows. Ooh, but I can’t wait to read End of Days! I’m so disappointed it’ll only be a trilogy, but I can’t wait to see what happens to Raffe and Penryn 😀
WHAT. YOU CHEATE?!! SHAME ON YOU!!! Heh. okay, I\’ll shut up. I didn\’t cheat, but I was freaking tempted. -_- I can not relax yet though, because I\’m still dying for Winter by Marissa Meyer and the 4th Raven Boy book AND the 4th Sarah J Maas book. OHhh my poor wailing feels. THERE IS NOT BREAK.
I love your wrap ups!!! They’re always so fun! And I was just waiting for your freak out over the release of Ensnared! I haven’t read the series, but I knew you were coveting like nothing else lol! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it!
I WAS COVETING IT SO BADLY I NEARLY IMPLODED. SO THERE\’S THAT. *wails and cries* It was so perfect. :\’)
SO MANY AWESOME BOOKS! I’ve also read The Darkest Part Of The Forest and Red Queen (how could you not love it? *pouts*) Love the art too!
I AM THE BLACK SHEEP. *cries* I just thought it was copying Red Rising and that made me sad.
I really need to read the Death Cure! That answers your other question too 🙂 I’m glad you liked it so much, it gives me hope! I should finish Percy Jackson too… And a LOT of others, but those two get top priority. You read a lot of books I want to read! I better go read your reviews. Your zentangle looks awesome 🙂 It’s one of my goals to be the post that someone links to in their “posts I loved” bit… I better get more creative 😛
Ack, I need to finish Percy Jackson too. I only have 1 book left of the first series sooo I NEED TO GET ONTO THIS. XD
AHA!!!! Wow you read so many books. This month I read read Jane Austen! (Well if you count 2 Jane Austen books as Jane Austen then I will say Jane Austen) But I think I’m doing pretty well at not reading and instead doing homework! I am only up to 3 books this year, but it has been very hard not to just grab a book on my TBR list and instead write an analysis or something for school! (see as my fangirl heart cries!) :'(
AND ONE DAY I VOW TO GET AN INSTAGRAM AND POST FANART BOOKISH PICTURES TOO!!!
What a great month. I can’t believe it has gone so fast!
Go you for reading Jane Austen! I…I have never. But I did watch the movie Jane, the one with James McAvoy in it, so…you know. I\’m cultured. *nods regally*
YES YES YOU SHOULD SO TOTALLY GET AN INSTRAGRAM. IT\’S SO MUCH FUN.
As you’ve just reminded me, Paper Fury had an awesome month. I didn’t read very much this month, but I did get to finish The Grisha Trilogy (again) on my Kindle, so I was pretty happy about that! 🙂 Really, though, I’m amazed you can read so much. XD On my best month I can only read maybe 16 books, tops.
*pats Paper Fury on it\’s zentangled head* IT DID. Ohhh, Grisha! YAY FOR GRISHA! That\’s on my February to-do list actually, since It might just fit in with a reading challenge goal. If I can wrangle it. I\’m concerned I forgot too much of book 1 though. I read it last year. aGH WELL! REREADS ALL ROUND!
Hold it! Of Metal and Wishes is a PoTO retelling? Why in the world did I not know this! GAH. Granted, I’m only familiar with the musical, but you know. 🙂 Ah, I’ll Give You The Sun<3 I'm going to finish that. Someday.
I actually DON'T know how long you've been dying to read Ensnared. Now have you really been lying or is that just a hyperbole? 😉
CAIT, I DEMAND YOU GIVE ME YOUR READING ABILITIES. And here I was proud of reading eight books…. xD I need to do that! I really need to do that. Then I'll be able to keep up with my reading challenges.
YES IT IS. I\’ve heard anyway. I haven\’t read it yet, obviously, but this is the FULL reason I want to read it. I had a horrible crush on the Phantom in my youth, despite him being like a million years old. >.>
ME. LIE? NO. I HAVE LITERALLY BEEN DYING FOR ENSNARED FOR MONTHS!
8 books is fantastic! Hey, but I read really fast and often forget what I read, so we all have our weirdnesses, right?!
Tis true about Of Metal and Wishes, I googled it and came across that it is supposed to be loosely inspired/influenced by it. That’s great. CAIT! The phantom if BAD. Seriously though, me and some college people once had an argument over the Phantom and Raoul, my thing was “HE KILLED PEOPLE” and my friend’s was “I can’t date a guy with hair longer than me”. xD You are like a million years old, how cool would that be? That would be so cool. Aren’t you 21 or 22? How old are you?….
I MEANT DYING NOT LYING, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MY FINGERS CONFUSED THE D FOR THE L CONSIDERING THEY’RE ON OPPOSITE ENDS OF THE KEYBOARD.
Thanks! On the bright side, I started a book around midnight today and I’m 40% done, granted, that doesn’t sound too great since it’s been almost 24 hours since then, but you know. I’ll take what I can get. I forget what I read too at times, that’s why I have to take notes.
Cait you need to kill me right this minute because I bought The Bone Season over Splintered (REGRETTING). And HOW DO YOU READ SO MUCH TELL ME YOUR SECRETSSS!!!!
ERG. I cannot even look at you. *glares slightly* BAHAHA BUT HOPEFULLY YOU\’LL STILL READ SPLINTERED ONE DAY, RIGHT?
25 books in January? WOW! Also, lovely book haul you’ve got there! I want to read The Red Queen and I’ll Give You the Sun as well! Happy Reading! <3
I\’ll Give You the Sun looks sooooo GOOD.
I read 29 books in January. I have no freaking clue how… The best book I’ve read so far this year is a tie between Every Word by Ellie Marney and Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan. And I plan on finishing ALL THE SERIES. Well. Maybe not all of them. But a lot of them. Especially the ones that have final books coming out this year!
WOAH. YOU ARE ON FIRE! WOOT. *bows* I want to read Every Breath, gah, why haven\’t I even started that one yet?! I\’m a bit behind on these things. xD I\’ve heard that series is top notch.
I still haven’t read A.G Howard’s series. Why? I have no idea!!!!
GAH, YES, YOU NEED TO FIX THIS ASAP.
WOW TWENTY-FIVE BOOKS!! Girl, you’ve been busy this month and I love it! I wish I was able to read that much as well, but yeah, I had times this month where I mostly played games on Steam and some time management games like managing a coffee shop… why the hell does that make me feel embarrassed, I wonder? Haha! I actually don’t know what series I plan to finish this year… there will be many series finales coming out in 2015, so definitely those… and, oh! Sanderson’s Mistborn series. I’m listening to the graphic audio of Well of Ascension right now AND IT IS BLOODY BRILLIANT. I love the voice acting, sound effects, and music done (you should try it if you haven’t yet ;D)
Gah, I need to START that Mistborn series. I haven\’t touched a Sanderson, but I know sooo many people who says his books are incredible I MUST TRY ONE.
Wow…what a great month you had in January!! I am always amazed at how many books people find the time to read! Looks like you have a great stack to get February started as well! Have a great week!
Hehe, yes, I do have a fair bit of time to read, although I mostly do it at night. XD WHO NEEDS SLEEP? lol
I wish I loved Ensnared as much as you did, but I was a little underwhelmed by the conclusion 🙁 I did love Red Queen and the cover is pretty. 25 book is amazing, you reading machine 😀
Happy February!
I think I\’m the only person I know who\’s given it 5-stars so far. >_<
I would love to read as many books as you read I am such a slow reader.
Happy Reading
I\’m very fast. 😉 BUT SLOW READING IS BETTER THAN NO READING, AMIRITE?
Cait, you are the queen of reading fast! 25 Books in January?! *bows down to your greatness* That’s seriously AMAZING! I think I’ve only read about 12 or so.
I kinda haven’t started the Splintered series yet *hides* BUT I do own the first one so I’m hoping to get to it soon 🙂
12 is brilliant!! I had a lot of holidays in January so I had time to read. 😉 OMG YOU NEED TO TRY SPLINTERED, PRETTY PLEASE????!
The best this year…so far… has been The Secret Wisdom of the Earth by Christopher Scotten. I am big on dystopia and I am surprised how much I just loved that adult fiction with no dystopia. Oh, but I did just finish The Deep by Nick Cutter, and that was seriously twisted book. It goes on my top 5 of something, I am sure.
I plan on reading all of the Divergent books this year….dammit! I haven’t read any yet, but it looks like they have Four books out so I can just dig in without waiting.
ohhh, I just looked up The Deep and IT SOUNDS GOOD. And yes! Go for the Divergent series since it\’s all wrapped up. xD Perfect time to start. I hope Allegiant hasn\’t been spoiled for you though.
You had an awesome month and I adore the Red Queen cover, the last 1/4 of the book was awesome. Hope you have another great month!
I have so many feels for that Red Queen cover. XD I think I\’m a lonely black sheep in not loving it, although I didn\’t hate it or anything!!
Am I the only person who is team jeb??!?!?!?! I am only on Unhinged!! No Spoilers!! Check out my week in review! http://bookbabble.weebly.com/blog/sunday-post1
WELL. I LOVE MORPHEUS SO. YOU CAN HAVE JEB.
I saw Splintered on Goodreads’ best of 2014 list and now that I know that it’s an Alice in Wonderland retelling, I’m more excited! I love Alice in Wonderland and I love reading some good retellings or adaptations of it. I’m definitely making it a point to purchase it.
It is the BEST Alice retelling I\’ve ever ever read and I\’m absolutely in love with it. x)
I go through phases where everything’s just an okay read. Not sure if it’s my choices or the books but it does get annoying after awhile. Glad you loved Ensnared! It’s so great to finish a series you love and be completely satisfied with the ending! Have a great week!
Yes! Me too! I just had this 3-star streak that made me really annoyed and not feeling like reading. BUT ENSNARED HAS BROKEN THAT RUT.
The Chaos Walking trilogy. Only because it’s the only one I’ve started and not finished that I: 1. Have a Complete set of and 2. Are actually finished. My reducing my TBR pile might not go as planned though…
OH ME TOO!! I only read book 1 and I was too traumatised to continue. HA. But I will read on. It was incredible.
Whoa! 25 books. That’s amazing. I’m not sure how many total I read last month. I know at least 7 because those were all for the #ShelfLove Challenge I’m cohosting.
Have a great week, Cait.

Second Run Reviews
Ohh, yay and good on you for 7+ reads!! I had a bit of a holiday-ish month, which was good. xD
That’s awesome that they sent you a copy of Red Queen. Let alone a finished copy. Man, I’m dying to read that book.
Kristin @ Book Sniffers Anonymous
I knoooow, right?! I was so honoured and kind of freaked out even though I didn\’t love the book. (I feel GUILTY though that I didn\’t like it so much. Maybe I\’ll do a giveaway?! That book deserves an awesome home. *nods*)
I have NEVER seen any of the Fantastic Four movies/graphic novels, so when my hubby showed it to me…I didn’t care. LoL I’ll still watch it, but I don’t feel any of the hype.
Oo the Darkest Part of the Forest. I want to read this, but physical copy or audiobook? OH THE CHOICES.
Happy February!
Heh, understandable if you don\’t know who the Fantastic Four are! OHHH THAT IS A HARD CHOICE. I read it on ecopy but I wished I\’d read it physical. It was aaaamazing.
I’m planning on getting caught up with The Raven Boys series, and ToG series as well! YAY FOR DISCOVERING NEW SERIES
Yesss, those are both excellent decisions.
Great haul! Red Queen sounds so amazing; I’m definitely going to have to buy a copy. I’ve been seeing Endgame at stores a lot lately and it seems pretty good; like something that’s action-packed that I’d enjoy. I got a copy of I’ll Give You the Sun too! I hope you enjoy all of your books and have a good week. 🙂
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I literally have NO idea what Endgame was about, but I won it and YAY. That\’s good enough for me. xD
I love how you are so organized and how you keep track of everything. I’m a mess right now but am managing to keep to my blog ahead things. I just want to read and do nothing else, but those reviews won’t write themselves. LOL
I am ogling all of your books. Me wants them. LOL
I mainly use goodreads for organising. I have a shelf per year (as well as for different genres) XD GOODREADS IS LIFE. Ha yes, those reviews are begging to be written. I was 2 reviews behind but I\’m slooowly catching up.
Wow! What a month – I am down in my reads. But then, I have listened to a lot of Diana Gabaldon and her books are uber long.
Long books should almost be counted as two, right?! They take way more effort!
I just bought Ensnared this week, and I can’t wait to read it!! Woo hoo!!
YAY I HOPE YOU THINK IT\’S AWESOME.
I LIKE YOUR GRAPHS
AND YOUR PHOTOS OF BOOKS (STAAAACKS. <3)
AND THE MAD HATTER GIF!!
WHY IS NO ONE VOTING FOR BLACK HEART? D: *throw self across couch with hand over heart, stricken*
YOU READ SO MANY BOOKS IN JANUARY. O.O …I read 9 and that was amazing for me. XD
Ooh, ooh! I did a post about my January! 😀 And best book this year? o.o I don't knoooow. Probably Conrad's Fate by Diana Wynne Jones… Because Diana Wynne Jones is everything. 😀 And there are sooo many series I want to finish reading this year! *flail*
MAD HATTER FTW I SAY. Nooooo one cares about Black Heart apparently. It is a totally under loved series. And that is sadness.
Mad Hatttter!!! 😀 And yesh. ‘Tis sad. You and I shall have to love it enough for everyone. XD ExceptIhaven’treadthemallyet.
YEAH I KNOW I HAVEN’T COMMENTED IN YEARS.
BUT you know why.
ANYWAY, hehehe, I’m glad you’re commenting again, because your comments are funnnn.
ANYWAY, YESSSSSSSSSS YOU SHOULD REREAD SCORPIO RACES, BECAUSE HORSES. *CARNIVOROUS* HORSES.
Ehem. Phhbt you love no one, how they found your blog with that “short story of love for everybody.” is beyond me. Like…. No. lol.
FANTASTIC FOOOOOOOOUR. (I’m excited because Jamie Bell, but I’m not excited because no Ioan Gruffudd.)
YOU KNOW WHAT I DON’T SEE ON YOUR TBR???????????? THE BARTEMEUS TRILOGY. I’MMA BUG YOU TIL YOU READ IT.
WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON MY BLOG? lol kidding, kidding. xD You\’re awesome and have a life. And also no wifi. I GET IT TOTALLY DON\’T WORRY. But also I owe you an email. *nods*
I need to reread it asap. But what is The Bartemeus trilogy?! I looked it up on goodreads and couldnt\’ find it…who\’s it by?? TELL ME ALL.
*creeps in * *hasn’t read the Bartimaeus books yet but happens to know what the first one is because it is on my TBR* https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/334123.The_Am… *creeps out*
But…. how? 25 books? That is pretty much a book a day. I love it, I am jealous of it, I have emotions about it basically. I am so glad you enjoyed Ensnared though! I had heard mixed things, and I would hate for a series that you’ve loved to end badly. So yay!
Also, those searches cracked me up. I should look at mine sometime. OH and yay for liking Bruiser! I just read your review, and this makes me happy. I own it, and I love Neal Shusterman, so I am hoping to enjoy it too 🙂
I slacked off a few days I KNOW. *dies giggling* Just kidding. 😉 I was worried about Ensnared because everyone I know has given it 3 stars and gah! SCARY. But it was a 5-star read for me and I\’m haaaapy.
Oooh you read some excellent books this month! I do hope you’re loving the PJO series more, hun. And I love that zentangle! It’s gorgeous 😀
Have a lovely week, Cait <33
I AM! I thought the last two books were incredible and I only have ONE MORE TO GO!!
I am SO ENVIOUS that you managed to get Of Metal and Wishes from your library!! I keep checking our library catalogues (three different areas) and NO ONE has that book yet. Phantom of the Opera retelling? Yes please! My need for this book is so great I’ll probably end up buying it, so looking forward to hearing what you think of it.
Endgame looks good too, but I’ve resisted that one so far as my TBR pile is already huge 🙂
Can you request purchase?? I actually requested my library buy it AND THEY DID AND I AM SO HAPPY!! I really hope it\’s epic. xD
I’ll have to ask them next time I go in, see what they say. I really hope they will buy it because it sounds great!
I recently borrowed the latest Neil Gaiman at the library – forgot to add it to my post… I would love to read the Graveyard book ! Have a great week 😉
The Graveyard book was excellent! I had a bit of a rough start with it but then ohhhh PERFECTION.
Thanks for the awesome wrap up Cait! I really enjoyed it, and thank you for sharing my post too. I found those pie charts really fascinating about the genre that you read! Paranormal dominates my life too. YES TO OF METAL AND WISHES. I’ve been waiting for either the bookstore or the library to stock it but haven’t found it yet! Hope you enjoy.
Thanks for sharing my link! You’re awesome. This post was awesome. If I did more in my months, I would totally steal this idea, haha.
Hanging my head in shame because I STILL HAVEN’T READ SPLINTERED.
The worst part is that I had honestly planned to buy it last year when I made my second-last trip to the bookstore, but I just couldn’t find a nice and brand-new-looking copy. The only one that was on the shelf was this really kind of tattered one, and books are so expensive here so I didn’t want to buy it. *weeps* But I WILL get to this series soon, Cait! Especially after seeing you rave so much about Ensnared! *O*
And omg, I can’t wait for you to read I’ll Give You the Sun. I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve been dying to, and the reviews all look so promising. I’ll keep an eye out for your thoughts! Currently reading Red Queen and yup, I agree that it was a little disappointing. I was a lot more upset in the beginning, but after that twist, I’m starting to like it a bit more. But the cover. So badass. <3
So, Fantastic Four. How many remakes are they going to make of these films, really? I thought the last FF film came out not too long ago (same as with Spider-Man, but they remade the show anyway), so I'm kind of shocked that we're getting a new one so fast. But it looks brilliant — thank goodness. And Marvel doesn't have a reputation for disappointing, so I have pretty high hopes!
Haha, I'll be lucky if I even reach my reading goal this year, much less finish a series (yes, it's that hard for me to finish a series ><), but I'm hoping to finish the Divergent series this year. I really need to get cracking on Allegiant. Here's to an awesome February for all of us!
Obviously I need to get a move on and read Unhinged and Ensnared because EVERYBODY I know has loved the last book! Sounds like you had a good month and wow, you read a lot of books! Hope you have a great February 🙂
First of all, YES FOR ENSNARED. I won’t lie, it’s the only book I read/finished in January. Loved it to pieces – so sad there won’t be anymore. Second of all, thank you for the link! And yes to the Red Queen’s cover!
THAT TRAILER IS SO EPIC. I have to admit I’m going to miss Chris Evans, but this looks less cheesy than the original. I mean, it’ll be different overall but ah well it’s Marvel what can they do wrong?
HAHAH YAY FOR ENSNARED. Don’t eat me but I have yet to read Unhinged. I WILL ONE DAY GET TO IT.
Have fun eating all your books! I’m impressed that you read so many books this month that you can make pie charts out of them and they actually look good. Good for you 🙂
WHAT ON EARTH YOU READ SO MUCH I MUST BOW DOWN TO YOU. I’m barely keeping ahead of my challenge (OR AM I ALREADY BEHIND????)
ENSNARED. I’m so close to finishing BUT I’VE BEEN SO BUSY *YELPS
I guess I have to read Unhinged and Ensnared soon! My birthday is in 3 months so I shall ask the parentals to get me Unhinged 🙂 I already have Ensnared so I will binge read both of those! I’m reading Sea of Monsters right now and I can’t wait to laugh my a** off. Percy Jackson is such an easy and fun read! And holy smokes , you read 25 books last month!? That’s AMAZING. I only read 7 lol. Hopefully I ‘ll read more than that this Feb.
