What happened this week?? EVERYTHING..!
Talk about week of internet explosions! And, because I’m your fabulous overlord and queen, I’m will recap them ALL for you in case you have life-besides-internet (weirdo) and missed something. Yes, yes, thank me later.
THE STACK
Either no books ever come and I eat the library due to starvation…OR ALL THE BOOKS COME AT ONCE. Seriously. I feel extraordinarily lucky this week. I HAVE SO MANY EXCITING BOOKS!!
A Court of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J Maas: UM. CUE SCREAMING!!! I CANNOT EVEN EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I WANTED THIS BOOK. AND IT WAS A SURPRISE ARC FROM BLOOMSBURY (LET ME HUG YOU, BLOOMSBURY) AND I AM JUST…EXTREMELY EXCITED, OKAY?!!
- The Honest Truth by Dan Gemeinhart: Thank you Scholastic!
- Havoc by Jane Higgins: Thank you Text Publishing! (I’m a teeny tiny bit nervous because this is apocalyptic and I haven’t read a GOOD apocalypse for a long time.)
Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles 0.5) by Marissa Meyer: IT IS JUST MY LUCKY WEEK ISN’T IT?!! OH MY GOSH. LOOK AT THIS GORGEOUS LITTLE BOOK!!! THANK YOU MACMILLAN!! My sister and I were crying about not being able to afford this because the hardcover was $20 and the paperback wouldn’t be out until March. And then Macmillan surprised me. I AM FLAILING LIKE A HAPPY PINEAPPLE.
- The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand: Thank you HarperCollins! I’m pretty sure I’ll cry!
- Extraction by Stephanie Diaz: Library! I’ve wanted to read this forever since I blogged (a year or so ago now) with the author on YAvengers. My claim to fame, right?!
- Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver: Thanks Hachette! You read my mind…I was seriously just about to ask for this.
- All Fall Down by Ally Carter: ajfdkalfds thank you Scholastic!
- Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater: (Thank you Scholastic) Now…I do already own this and I love it to absolute pieces. I bought the paperback last year, but hey, hardcover?! I LOVE. I now own four Stiefvater books. (Shh, let’s not talk about how 2 are the same.)
Oh gosh. The extreme fabulousness is overwhelming. I need a moment.
VOTE! YAY!

ON THE BLOG?…
- MONDAY: I failed and screeched over the absolute perfection of Ensnared!! The review is useless. I was just fangirling.
- WEDNESDAY: I moan about the hardship of editing (poor, poor, Cait) and also announce I’m on Wattpad (!!) and you can read the first chapter of my NaNoWriMo book! (I’m also pretty much flailing like a headless pineapple after the encouraging and awesome comments. THANK YOU, EVERYONE WHO READ IT.)
- THURSDAY: It’s time to link up for Beautiful People again…with a smushy lovey adorably shippable VALENTINE’S DAY EDITION!
- FRIDAY: I throw a small but adorable tantrum about Red Queen because it wasn’t very original.
WHAT DID I READ??
Click on see Goodreads reviews!
- Only Ever Yours: Um. Disturbing, okay?! I was really quite traumatised. It was GOOD though. [3-stars]
- I’ll Give You The Sun: I nearly drowned in the beautifulness. [4-stars]
- Strong Deaf: I read this for writing research mostly…it was sadly badly written. [2-stars]
- Avengers, The Children’s Crusade: WELL THEN. I liked it, but I struggled with the fact that a bunch of 16 year old newly hatched superheroes could be smarter than the good ol’ favourites like Iron Man, Cap, and Thor. [3-stars]
- Fairest: Well HECK YES I liked it. I simultaneously felt bad and horrified at Levana. This is writing at it’s emotionally manipulative finest, peoples. GO READ IT. [5-stars]

ELESWHERE, ON THE INTERNET!
So basically everything went down this week. It was rather exhausting and highly exciting.
- Harper Lee is releasing the sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird 55 years after her debut! It’s titled Go Set A Watchman and is about 20 years after TKAM. This was met (duh, we can’t get along, of course) with controversy. Should we be suspicious of the new novel (being published under odd circumstances)? Did Harper Lee, reported to be quite deaf and blind, really know what she signing off on? How do you lose a book anyway?!!
- Because Harper Lee was getting all the attention…a snarky author released a horribly snide “bingo card” to hate on reviewers. Like, seriously, authors…do you want us to promote your books (FOR FREE AND ON OUR OWN TIME, DANG IT) or not??
- Giselle @ Book Nerd replied to the snarky author with a super positive and awesome bingo card of her own creation. #faithinhumanityrestored
- The cover has been revealed for the last Susan Ee’s Penryn and the End of Days trilogy! It’s gorgeous.
- If you’re a writer and want to know about English accents? Here is the video for you. (It’s hilarious, also.)
- The Red Rising movie has a director!! I approve of this pick.
- Emily @ Loony Literate tells about her tour of Hogwarts!
- Ashley @ Nose Graze says it’s okay to want to grow your blog. (No shame in being invested in your stats!)
- Jeann @ Happy Indulgence wants to know if we remember aaaall the details of what we read? (I do not.)
- Amanda @ Of Spectacles And Books asks if you feel obligated in the book blogging community.
A LITTLE BIT OF HOUSEKEEPING…
SO! I have a few technical questions for you and if you want to shout the answers in the comments, I’d be most obliged.
- Do you have trouble getting onto my blog?? I’ve had a few people, now, tell me often times my blog won’t appear for them. CUE PANIC. Does this ever happen to you?
- Does my blog load super slowly for you?? (I use a lot of pictures, but I do try to keep the size small. Photos and gifs are life, peoples, I don’t want to have to stop using them. But I also don’t want a super slow blog!) Let me know if it’s a problem.
- If you comment and it NEVER shows up…let me know! You can tweet me or email. I’ve had two people had trouble with this and I had no idea…but my blog was sending them to spam. (Apparently they were suspicious individuals.) It’s fixed now, because I am kind.
Ahhhhhhhh, you’ve got A Court of Thorn and Roses! I’M SO JEALOUS. AND THE LAST TME WE SAY GOODBYE, I want that one so badly. On the bright side, I’m the first person on hold for when my library gets it electronically. 🙂 And Vanishing Girls<3
And, Fairest<3 Of course. I still need to read that series.
I'm so ticked about that whole bingo deal, it's like gosh, why does there always have to be some sort of conflict whether it's with bloggers, publishers or authors? This is the third "big" conflict I've seen since I started in July. 🙁 I was really looking forward to that author's book too.
1. I don't have any trouble with your blog.
2. I think it loads fine for me.
3. My comments always show up
I've never read TKAM. I'm a bit (lot) hesitant about the sequel because it does sound a bit suspicious. And A Court of Thorn and Roses should obviously be your next read. Then The Last Time We Say Goodbye. Or the reversal and then Vanishing Girls. 🙂
I AM THE LUCKIEST PERSON ALIVE THIS WEEK. I was just so so amazed at these books popping in (all surprises!!!) when I've literally had no review-copies for almost a month. HA. they just all came at once. xDI was thinking that the blogosphere had been quite calm lately..so typical it had to have a bit of an explosion over that twitter bingo drama. I think it was quite immature of the author. -_-YAY SO GLAD MY BLOG ISN'T TOO SLOW!
YOU HAVE ALL FALL DOWN!!!!! GO AND READ IT!!!! IT IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ SINCE THE SCORPIO RACES (December, but it FEELS like longer…) 😉 No, seriously, read what you like, but there is my recommendation in all caps 😉
Honestly, I don’t think it should have to live up to TKAM. I think that’s asking too much. They’re saying that this was the original novel she submitted for publication, right? And it’s comingout unedited. I’d like it to be better but, honestly, I won’t mind if it’s just good by the usual standards. A good book is a good book, regardless of whether it is the best or worst work of whoever writes it. I’m excited to read it because TKAM is one of only three books that I’ve enjoyed reading for school!
I haven’t had any of the problems you mentioned 😉
OKAY!!! I WILL TAKE YOUR RECOMMENDATION ABSOLUTELY TO HEART BECAUSE THE SCOPRIO RACES IS LIKE MY MOST FAVOURITE BOOK EVER (well, ONE of my most favourites…I have a lot of favourites, yes!?!) It looks so delicious and I do love Ally Carter. XDI'm already worried for TKAM sequel…just because it has an incredibly huge shadow to live under. And plus if it's her first book and TKAM is technically her second….it wouldn't surprise me if it's not as good quality. *shrugs* Not that I want to judge before I've read it of course! I'm just worried it'll get stomped on before it has a chance, you know??
Oh gosh, I hadn’t thought of that! I hope people won’t just stomp on it, it’s really awful when you have to trawl through a whole bunch of horrible reviews that aren’t even trying to be fair (you know the ones, one stars with lots of swears and complaints about things which aren’t really relevant to plot/characters) – it just gives one star ratings a bad name 🙁
Ugh, I know, right?! 1-star reviews SHOULD be fine…but these days them seem to be gif-filled rants with really no REASON why they\’re basing. -_- I hate reviews like that.
Ugh I totally missed your post about being on Wattpad. How could that have happened? (I blame terrible dust allergies). I am totally going to go over there and devour that first chapter. You have no idea how much I have been longing to read something of yours. I have a bunch of new books to read actually, including a couple by Marcus Sedgewick, which look interesting. But first I must finish ‘I Capture the Castle’, which though hilariously good is also over 500 pages long and thus is taking forever to read in between everything else I am attempting to do at the moment.
DUST ALLERGIES ARE THE WORST. I had horrible horrible allergies the whole time I was a teen (I\’ve kind of half grown out of them now). So I completely feel ya. :\'( fajkdlfad I really really hope you like my chapter!! THIS EXCITES ME QUITE A LOT. *wails and flails*
I actually want to read I Capture the Castle, because it\’s my friend\’s favourite book aaaaand, that just makes me curious. Hilarious? Sign me up. xD
I have read your chapter and I am in awe and half jealous in the best way of your writing. That is so amazing! I hope we get the chance to see some more of it because I would totally read on.
Wish I was growing out of them, but the older I get, the most I seem to find. I have weird allergies. Like, I’m allergic to pool chlorine, dust, and sitting on the grass. We go on a picnic and I come back covered in itchy rash. When I hit thirty maybe it’ll go away?
Wow…it’s just so crazy about the sequel to Haper Lee’s book. Don’t know what to think, but I’m going to read it once I can get my hands on it. 🙂
I'm going to read it too! But AGREED…it is crazy.
I’ve never had any problems with your blog (I just wrote blob) because you are the queen.
I’ve never read To Kill a Mockingbird. Is that terrible? Do I lose my membership to the bibliophile club/library card? It’s just never really appealed to me. I like my classics set in Victorian England thank you very much. Or does that make me sound like a snob?
Beth x
I think we should rename it to BLOB. Blobosphere…doesn't it have a much more epic ring to it?!! COME NOW. LET US PETITION FOR THIS CHANGE!! *blobs around petitioning* It is totally terrible. omg, Beth, I can't look at you…HAHA. XD I kid, I kid. I actually know a fair few bookworms who don't even like it…so yes. I do absolutely recommend it but it's like American small town book and definitely not English. xD
First of all: YOU HAVE ACOTAR. So much envy. I’ll just be whiling away the hours until it releases. *sighs*
I saw the article about being suspicious of the Harper Lee sequel too. I’m hoping it’s not true, but until we get official confirmation, I’ll be cautiously optimistic about the sequel.
No problems with the blog for me! The pictures take maybe one extra second to load than the rest of the page, but it’s not a big deal because a) the site itself loaded and b) I normally read on Bloglovin’ anyways.
That Bingo card — I guess one or two of those are legitimate, like the one about rating unfinished books. (Although have you seen the post about John Green’s unwritten book having higher ratings than his published ones?) But I mean, I am eternally grateful when anyone comments on my online writing, even if it’s a weird, undecipherable one-liner. Maybe save it for a book blogger drinking game. :S
I LITERALLY COULD NOT BREATH WHEN I OPENED THE PACKET. I really really didn't expect to get it! I requested Heir of Fire when it was coming out last year and never got a review-copy so i'd kind of expected the same for this. XD I AM JUST SO SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. *flails forever*Okay, phewf. I'm glad it's not a problem and the blog loads fine. It's been slow on my end … I wonder if it's my internet??Well I do rate books I only half read. Sometimes I leave them unrated if I plan on coming back, but otherwise I give them 1-star. I so so rarely DNF that if a book abhors me that much, I think 1-star is acceptable. >_< (That's a bit crazy about John Green's book though! I really REALLY think you can't rate unread books.) I do think the author is basically saying she doesn't want reviews unless their good, which is unreasonable and ridiculous. She'd be absolutely devastated if no on read her book, right? -_-
TKAM circumstances are really very suspicious. We can’t say for certain exactly what happened there especially since we weren’t THERE.
OMG THAT STACK. THAT’S THE MOST GLORIOUS STACK I’VE EVER LAID EYES ON. EXCUSE ME BUT MY MOUTH MIGHT HAVE JUST FILLED UP WITH SALIVA (gross).
Yay! You finally read I’ll Give You the Sun! It was one of my favourite books I read last year.
Your five star review for Fairest just reminded me that I seriously need to get on with that series. I only read Cinder.
As for the housekeeping: nope, everything has been dandy on my end. Hope it gets resolved soon!
It's true, you are wise. *nods* I'm really suspicious with the whole “WE JUST FOUND IT!!” thing because how the heck do you lose a book manuscript?! Hmm.afjdakfds I'll Give you the Sun gave me such feels and ALSO SUCH ANGER. They were so cruel to each other. 0.0 It made my heart break a little. Okay, fine, A LOT.
OH MY GOSH THESE LOOK AMAZING! I haven’t read any of Sarah J. Maas’ books yet (I shall soon) but her books sound fantastic and I’ve heard that she’s an excellent writer! The Honest Truth sounds amazing, Extraction sounds amazing, The Last Time We Say Goodbye sounds amazing…basically all of these sound amazing! ENJOY THEM! 😀
Also, I hadn’t heard about the author Goodreads bingo card thingy before but I read it and that’s so rude of the author to do that! I was really disappointed to see two of my favorite authors had favorited and commented on it. Meh. :/
Ooh also, I have no problems with your blog! It takes quick to load, I have no problem getting onto your blog and my comments always show up! 😀
YOU NEED TO GET ONTO THIS, KYRA!!! You have a Sarah J Maas shaped hole in your life. 😉 And afdjkalfd they all sound so good I want to eat them all NOW but I have to pick one at a time and that is also hard. *sighs*I was really disappointed to see some of my highly loved authors agreeing and laughing at the bingo. 🙁
Ooh awesome haul this week Cait! I got A Court of Thorns and Roses as well – it looks FANTASTIC. Can’t wait to hear what you think of All Fall Down, I’ve heard good things about it so far so the bar is set high! Hope you have a lovely week 🙂
YAY!! WE AUSSIE BLOGGERS ARE SO LUCKY THIS WEEK! *flails forever and always* I can't decide if I should wait until May to read it…or just dang it all and read it now. xD
Ooh Ooh yay more Stiefvater books for Cait!!!! *dances* (shh I won’t tell anyone about the same book thing you have going on)
And yeah, I was a bit surprised about the news of TKAM 2, and I’m not so sure it’s trustworthy either. I kind of liked just having the one book to think about. THINK OF ALL THESE YEARS OF ENGLISH ESSAYS ABOUT THE FIRST BOOK IN A SERIES!!!! I CANNOT FATHOM!!!! WHAT WILL BECAUSE OF TKAM AS AN ENGLISH TEXT!!! *flails*
And umm I can see your blog fine, it loads fine and I always seem to be able to comment fine soooo *shrug* mm-mm?
ALSO, HAVE YOU SEEN THE RED QUEEN BOOK TRAILER??? 😀 😀 😀 😀
Hey it just makes me a SUPER FAN, right?! To have the same book in two editions?! lol I will probably give away my paperback at some point. xDI really have no idea how the TKAM sequel will live up to it's big sibling's shadow (I also can never remember the title and that's bad). YAY! I'm glad my blog loads fine for you! It seems slower on my end these days too, so maybe it's my internet or computer??NO! I HAVE NOT! *goes to watch it now*
KJALSDJFLA OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG READ ACOTAR IT’S SO FREAKING GOOD I CANNOT EVEN.
I LITERALLY CANNOT EVEN.
OKAY OKAY I THINK I'M NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO WAIT UNTIL MAY ANYWAY BECUASE AFJDKLAFDSASD SARAH J FREAKING WIZARD MAAS.
I’m so excited that the sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird is being released. This is one of my favourites, so I look forward to seeing what the next book is like. I didn’t know that Harper Lee was partially deaf and blind. There is an article in The Bookseller where Lee explains how the book got lost and was found again.
This post has been really informative: I learnt something new about Harper Lee but also that Red Rising is being made into a movie. How did I not know this?!
You’re so lucky that you get to read A Court of Thorns and Roses! I can’t wait to read this!
🙂
OH. I shall look up that article. I mean, I\’ve read that it was stuck to the back of the original manuscript…but she lost it like 30 years ago, right?! I just wonder (as a writer myself) how on earth a person can just…forget where they put a book. 😐 But, what do I know?! Everyone is different. *nods*
I AM SO EXCITED FOR RED RISING!!!
All the books! The cover of Blue Lily, Lily Blue is so pretty, I picked up The Dream Thieves from the library last week, can’t wait to read it and then I can get my paws on Blue Lily, Lily Blue.
I don’t have any technical issues with your blog, it always works just fine for me.
I had a look at that bingo card – wow, how snarky? And about Harper Lee, I don’t know what to think. I’m excited that there’s a sequel but has she been taken advantage of? Hard to say, I hope the publishers didn’t take advantage of her because I really want to read it.
Your paws absolutely need BLLB. Trust me. I KNOW THESE THINGS. *nods*
Yaaay and phewf. I\’m really glad! It\’s been slow on my end, so this makes me very relieved. x)
I love reading your posts. They’re so informative and always make me smile! Ooh, I got A Court of Thorns and Roses this week too. I am super jealous of your copy of Fairest and Cynthia Hand’s new book! I hope you enjoy them all. 🙂
AWK. This makes me pleased! I AM SO GLAD, CHRISSI. THANK YOU!!
I’ve never read To Kill a Mockingbird – maybe it’s time to!
ALSO YOU GOT A FREAKISHLY AWESOME STACK TOO. I very nicely gave ACOTAR to my sister to read before me, BUT I AM ABOUT TO DEVOUR IT. Also I got The Darkest Part of the Forest WHICH I CAN’T WAIT TO READ 😀 😀 😀
Ugh that bingo card was annoying, right?
Have fun with all your new books 😀 😀 😀
WHAT. EMILY. HOW COULD YOU?!! Okay, fine, I can\’t squawk, because neither has Mime. -_- It\’s a brilliant classic and how often do I say that?!!
Omg, you are nice. My sister isn\’t allowed to TOUCH my books until I\’ve read them first. I am..um,…mean.
Gah, the bingo card made me rather despise humanity for a while there.
Aaaaaah, sooooo jealous!!!! I am dying to read Fairest!!! But I haven’t even gotten to read Scarlet yet, due to an absence of Amazon gift card money. XD
FAIREST IS AMAZING. TRUST ME. OMG GORGEOUSNESS. Do you have a library?! The library is like my number one go-to for all things.
We used to, but we haven’t gone in a long time. I’m not sure if we still have library card or if it’s still valid. 😀 I can’t believe Fairest is $9.99 for Kindle. Ridiculous.
Libraries save me SO much money. Gah, kindle books sometimes are a bit ridiculous, right?! I cannot justify spending that much on a kindle book. …. 0.0
They are! Although for some of them, it’s still way cheaper than buying. And I seriously have gone through the Kindle store and bought every single free book that sounds interesting. XD
*screams*
YOU GOT FAIREST AND ACOTAR <333333333333333333 I'm going to have to buy the hardcover edition myself and save up ;-;
And a new book by Harper Lee? I am totally excited. Also, my comments show up and your blog loads up pretty fast so it's all good 😀
It\’s weird that the paperback is in Australia and not in America, right?!! SO WEIRD. >_<
Actually I don’t live anywhere near Australia or America. I’m halfway panicking because most of the new releases don’t even show up in Pakistan unless it’s something super hyped like Rick Riordan. It’s like living in a cave >.<
I'll probably be waiting for Fairest for a loooooong time until somebody gifts me the e-book, lol.
I’ve got to say, I haven’t read TKAM, and I doubt I ever will, but I’m dubious about the whole sequel news, I don’t trust anyone and feel for Harper Lee, just generally, she’s just lost her sister, her support network, and now she’s everywhere, nobody wants that, ever, so I’m just sorry for her. Generally, it’s been an exciting week of reads and books, but I would say you’ve got to read ACOTAR, which I plan to read soon, Vanishing Girls, because I need your feels on it, or All Fall Down because I BLOODY LOVED THAT BOOK AND ITS ALLY CARTER ANYTHING ELSE NEED SAYING?! *cough* sorry *cough* Wonderful recap Cait! 🙂
Really?! TKAM is an amazing classic (and I like say that…never ever. heh.) It really inspired me in writing too, at one point, but HEY. It\’s not for everyone. I feel super sorry for Harper Lee too. Just the sister/lawyer dying is fishy enough for me…and I can imagine how traumatic it\’d be to be forced into the spotlight if you HATE that kind of thing.
SAY NOTHING ELSE. I WANT TO TRY AND READ ALL FALL DOWN THIS WEEK FOR SURE. AND YUUUUS OBVIOUSLY ACOTAR. XD
I don’t know how to feel about that bingo card. I can see the humorous side to it because some of the “issues” in it are ones the majority of book bloggers would laugh at too – so not sure why they’re referenced specifically, but some of them are genuine reasons someone might dislike a book and I don’t feel they should be ridiculed for it. Also, surprised by the number of authors who have publicly commented on it, after the support the community showed for bloggers following some of the drama of last year. I actually don’t know how to feel about this. Makes you wonder why you bother trying to support authors sometimes (for no charge!).
I know there are really mean reviewers out there who say stuff that is just not NICE…but hey! That\’s not the majority of us. And yes, I agree…some of that stuff is rather stupid to be ridiculed for.
If there was NO book blogging community, authors would still fuss and complain because their books weren\’t getting out there. I think we do a heck of a lot of work to get blogs up and awesome and…we don\’t get paid. Authors get paid. -_-
Thank you for the Internet updates! I had to be away from Twitter (the horror!!) and missed some things. I feel much better now. Great posts you highlighted too! I’m so happy you got ACOTAR!! And I love that ARC version 🙂 enjoy it!
OMG AWAY FROM TWITTER WAHT EVEN IS LIFE. lol I\’m juuuust kidding. x) Awk, but I adore the ARC cover of ACOTAR. hehe. It\’s just minimalistic and nice.
AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! ALLLLLl THE BOOOOOKKKKSSSS!! *tries to reach though the screen and grab all them beautiful, beautiful books!!!*
For our questions, I think there was ONE HORRIBLE time that I couldn’t get on and I panicked and cried but other than that, it’s been fine.
Sometimes, if I’m trying to scroll up or down too fast, it’ll freeze for 2 secs but then it’s gets back up.
And all of my comments appear! (Hopefully these do as well!) Yay!
Well, enjoy allllllll the books while I go green with jealousy *hmph* and have another wonderful week! 😀
*dances and flails in piles and piles of books* I JUST REALLY LOVE BOOKS, YES, I DO.
Omg, I\’m glad it was only one time you couldn\’t get onto the blog. That is so traumatic. *gives you condoling cake*
A Court of Thorns and Roses and All Fall Down! Those both sound amazing!
And I totally need to read Cinder so that I can read the rest of the Lunar Chronicles… and Raven Boys… and All The Books!
Thanks for sharing.
I know right?! GAH. I can\’t even pick which to read first. XD Yesss, you so should try Cinder some time if you can. It\’s amazing, although book 2 is my favourite.
SO MANY BEAUTIFUL AND AWESOME BOOKS! I really want to read ACOTAR and The Honest Truth. Fairest was a fabulous book. I rated it 4 stars just because I’m not too much of a fan of dark books and I thought the ending was a bit rushed, but I’ve rated all the other books in the series 5 stars. I AM SO EXCITED FOR GO SET A WATCHMAN! I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news. To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book, and when I read it I was so disappointed to hear that Harper Lee hadn’t written any other books. I never thought I would get another book from Harper Lee, much less a sequel to TKAM. Oh, my feels! I’m choosing not to listen to the people who are being dubious about it because whenever something big happens, there will always be people that doubt it. Wow, I hadn’t seen that bingo card before, but that is so mean. I like Giselle’s bingo card much better. I don’t have any of those housekeepin’ problems, so that’s good.
I ABSOLUTELY ADORED FAIREST. *hyperventilates* I\’m going to go read your review now.
TKAM is such a big favourite of mine (my dog\’s name is Atticus, for goodness sakes. xD) So I\’m hopelessly excited…just also a little dubious. I really hope Harper Lee WANTED this book out and it wasn\’t wrangled off her.
First things first, I didn’t have any technical problems with your blog, far as I can recall!
I was super surprised when I heard about the TKAM sequel. It’s funny ’cause I just read it last month (after it was on my shelf for like 7 years …oops?) and I didn’t even know the author was still alive. It does feel a little bit weird to get a sequel to a classic, but it sounds kind of interesting. Not sure whether I’ll read it yet, but I’ll definitely take a look when it comes out!
So that bingo thing… not exactly politically correct (for lack of a better term) and also disrespectful towards reviewers, but um… it’s also kind of funny. I’M SORRY, I KNOW. It’s not like I’m laughing my ass off, but it’s also just not the kind of thing that gets me genuinely upset, because it just seems like a (tasteless) joke. Maybe it would be different if it were my favorite author, I don’t know. For me it just heavily depends on the intent, and I don’t know jack shit about that author. Obviously it doesn’t exactly endear her to me and I’m certainly not running to buy her latest book, but that’s a risk she seems to be willing to take.
YAY! GREAT! I AM SO PLEASED.
It is weird to be getting a sequel to a book that\’s 50+ years old…just…yes. So weird. I love TKAM (I read it for school and my dog\’s name is Atticus, hehe).
I guess it\’s better to laugh than get offended, right?! I just think it\’s tiring that authors give reviewers such a hard time, when we\’re doing it for free and they\’re getting paid. -_-
YOU GOT A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES //AND// FAIREST
OH MY WORD I AM SO UNFRIENDING YOU
I CAN’T EVEN
HOW DO YOU GET SURPRISE BOOKS LIKE THAT FROM PUBLISHERS
I DON’T LIKE YOU ANYMORE CAIT
(this how I show me love okay, just in case you were worried. but srsly. how. how do you get books like that from publishers without even asking.)
WELL. IF YOU LIVED IN AUSTRALIA LIKE A SANE PERSON I COULD SHARE THEM WITH YOU, MMM?? JUST SWIM OVER HERE FOR A SEC AND I\’LL LET YOU BORROW THEM.
(I\’m like on their review list…so they send out these kind of books to everyone on their reviewer list. I think it\’s easier in Australia than in America because there are less Aussie book bloggers?? Not 100% certain on that, but I think.)
JUST SWIM ON OVER. OKAY SURE LEMME GET MY SNORKELING GEAR AND I’LL BE THERE THIS AFTERNOON.
(that actually does make sense. But still there have to be reviewer lists here and I want to get on theeeeeem. Do I really just keep contacting publishers and asking for ARCs until I start getting them?)
Well you can ask! But a lot of the time they make sure your blog is really book focused and that you\’ve got heaps of followers/stats. I don\’t actually know how many followers you have. I had about 100 followers (but woeful stats, lol!) when I got my first ARC. YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK, EH? Just google \”how do I get ARCs\” because there are a bunch of tutorials. xD
I have 134 followers I think. But I’ll definitely research it a bit more. Thanks!!!
What a huge week! Mostly I was just so excited to hear about the sequel to To Kill A Mockingbird. I had no idea that there was such suspicious events surrounding it… hmmmm… I think we need Atticus. I am so happy about getting to read more of her work after all these years, that I am afraid that I am selfishly hoping that all the hype is unnecessary and that Harper Lee really is consenting and excited about this release.
And for the record, I haven’t been experiencing any of the problems that you mentioned.
WE WILL ALWAYS NEED MORE ATTICUS. (Although that\’s my dog\’s name and he is a bundle of trouble, so, hehe yes.) I really hope Harper Lee really DID consent to this and it wasn\’t just wrangled off her subtly… >.>
Eeek! I can’t wait to read Fairest, but I have to read Cress first, so maybe it will be in paperback by that time(-: And Harper Lee’s new book?!!!!! My friend told me about it last week, and I literally shrieked like a little tea kettle. I’m a bit nervous, but at the same time, if it’s by Harper Lee, it’s got to be awesome. (-:
And Giselle’s Bingo was an awesome comeback. XD
They\’re all in paperback in Australia…AREN\’T WE LUCKY?! 😉 I thought Harper Lee\’s new book was a JOKE at first…that\’s how unlikely I thought it\’d be! YAAAAY THOUGH I WANT TO READ IT SO BADLY.
I voted Vanishing Girls because I figured you’ll probably ignore it all and read ACOTAR anyway 😛 I feel like I haven’t commented on your blog for for ages. I have been in a blogging/reading/reading blogs slump for the last few weeks and I just couldn’t be bothered to do anything. I suck.
I do not have any of those problems you mentioned with your blog and the double scrollbar thing I told you about before is gone too so it was probably just my laptop being stupid.
I did not know about any of that drama but I followed the links and caught up a bit. I don’t know how I feel about it really. I don’t think it was meant in a nasty way but it’s still quite offensive so it’s hard. Hmph. So much drama all the time!
ACOTAR is winning quite wildly. 😉 Everyone is paaaassionate I should read it now and I SO WANT TO I\’m just worried I\’ll forget it by May!! XD
You don\’t suck! Not every week (or month!) is good for blogging, I completely understand. *tackle hugs you anyway*
ASDFGHJKL!!!!!!! I WANT ALL FALL DOWN SOOOOO BAD!!!!!!! As soon as I have money (well, after I buy the Supernatural edition of Clue) I am so getting it!!!!!!
MY AUNT AND UNCLE GOT ME A SIGNED COPY OF FAIREST AND IT IS THE DEFINITION OF PERFECTION!!!!!!! AND I GOT TO TALK WITH MARISSA MEYER ON THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m reading it now and I honestly don’t know how I feel about it. The writing, as always, is amazing, but I hate Levana so much that I don’t want to pity herXD
I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT!!! ALLY CARTER IS AMAZING AND MIME IS ALSO A BIG FAN SO I KNOW SHE\’LL ENJOY THAT ONE TOO!! A Supernatural edition of Clue?! Aaaawesome.
fajdslkafds SIGNED COPY?! OMG!!! *throws sprinkles in celebration* And you taaaaalked to her. OH WOW. YOU ARE LIKE FAMOUS BY ASSOCIATION.
Omg your week was so productive! How in the world do you manage to read like six books in the span of seven days? Anyway, I never have problems with your blog so don’t worry! I am a little worried about the new TKAM sequel, just because Harper Lee gained so much fame and world-wide renown for that book, and for publishing just one book. It seems a bit… forced (is that the right word?) to be writing a sequel after so many years. TKAM was truly a one-hit wonder. However, I feel it is also unfair that Harper Lee should be living up to such a high standard… she’s the writer. She should be able to write whatever the hell she wants!
Erin
Well 2 of those books are short! xD I read really really fast is all (and who needs sleep?! hehe) Well Harper Lee wrote the \”sequel\” BEFORE she wrote TKAM. So she wrote it 55 years ago and I don\’t think it\’s forced. I just wonder if she really wanted it to be published. I know she\’s a bit of a recluse and doesn\’t like fame. So yeah. I\’d had to be supporting throwing her in the spotlight but at the same time I definitely want to read it. 🙁
That snarky bingo card is so disrespectful. I get that certain things might piss a writer off… but you don’t go putting your thoughts on the Internet in such a mean-spirited way and expect the people who are helping you build your career (for no pay, I might add) to be okay with being insulted. Well, I got a few more authors to add to my “never read” list, anyway… (“bad behaviour made me avoid an author forever” How about we put that on a bingo card?)
I’m on the fence about Harper Lee’s new novel. I really enjoyed To Kill A Mockingbird when I read it years ago. The pressure that must be on an author when they release another book so many years later when the first one was so acclaimed… If the new book is good, that’s one thing; if it’s bad, will that affect how people view TKAM?
I got Scarlet this week, so I’m hoping to move forward through The Lunar Chronicles. I have no idea if/when I’ll ever get to Fairest, though. I’d like to see you review Vanishing Girls; I’m a Lauren Oliver fan.
I totally agree! It IS disrespectful. I get that it\’s supposed to be a joke…but still. It\’s really just rude and doesn\’t make me want to support that author EVER. Exactly WE DON\’T GET PAID TO DO WHAT WE DO. We fangirl for FREE. gah.
I\’m a teeny tiny bit worried about the new TKAM because it\’s also written before TKAM and first-books are often not as good. You know?? Just worried about that too. 🙁
Everything has always been fine when I’m on your blog and nothing seems slow (I use a lot of GIFs and pics so mine’s probably even slower). Aaaaah, I got ACOTAR toooo and I’m so excited to read it!!!!!!
I\’ve never found your blog slow either! SO THIS IS GOOD NEWS ALL ROUND, RIGHT?!
Go Set a Watchman has sent the (literary) world reeling. OH MY GOSH. I mean first of all I have no idea what to do about the conspiracies except refuse to believe them on the grounds that Atticus Finch would refuse to believe them also (no matter how dubious that lawyer woman and something-in-law of Capote is!). Of course media will hype up the conspiracy (can someone say media circus??) but what shocks me the most is how TKAM is so established as The Literary Piece in schools freaking everywhere and certainly in my mind! Lee was never supposed to come out with another novel…ever. We were all totally resigned to that fact! Oh my gosh, shock. I don’t know what to think, but I’m still pumped about reading Scout’s narrative as a grown-up now. 🙂
ALSO YOU’RE ON WATTPAD?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? YAAAAAY. (I was anticipating that!). I’ve been a slow monkey this week so I haven’t quite made the rounds yet but *fist-pump* you’re on Wattpad, oh yeah! 😛
IT TOTALLY HAS SENT THE WORLD REELING. I\’m still in shock. 0.0 I thought it was a joke at first. gahhhhhh.
ARE YOU ON WATTPAD TOO? I should follow people. xD I am just learning how to negotiate it.
I love love LOVE the accents video. That Siobhan Thompson girl has a great ear for them, and the seamless transition from one to the other was almost overwhelming. I actually just had a debate with my manager about a London accent.
I haven’t had any problems with the technical issues you’ve described — all good on my end!
She was peeeerfection. I really love that accent (OKAY JUST ALL OF THEM) so I enjoyed that video a whole lot. xD
Nope. I am not jealous at all of your ARC of A Court of Thorns And Roses LOL. But seriously, enjoy when you get to it 🙂 I hope you will love it!
And the cover for End of Days by Susan Ee is SOOOO gorgeous. I have been staring at it all day yesterday. I cannot wait to hold printed copy in my hands. Is is May, yet?
And I have no problems loading your blog or leaving comments.
I AM LITERALLY FREEEEAKING OUT I\’M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT. omg, isn\’t that Susan Ee book just perfect?! I love all her books. I don\’t own them but I\’d own them just for prettiness sakes. hehe. Yes I am shallow. xD
I, erm, didn’t really like To Kill a Mockingbird? It’s personal preference, probably, but I couldn’t even bring myself to finish it. Which makes me wonder if I missed a Big Intelligent Thing and what people liked about it, but oh well. I still think the sequel news is interesting!
I AM SO GLAD YOU LIKED FAIREST. I was wildly excited about it, and ugh, it totally lived up to all my huge expectations. She’s INSANE. And creepy. And oddly well-developed and fascinating. I just. *flails*
I have a lot of reading to do – I somehow ended up checking out about 20 books all at once and the librarian kindly informed me today that I can’t check out any more until I return some??? But in all fairness it’s a small library, so I’m probably slowly cleaning out half their YA selection xD BUT I JUST STARTED STIEFVATER’S DREAM THIEVES AND AGHHHHH. RONANNNN. I AM WILDLY EXCITED CAIT WHY DID YOU INSPIRE ME TO READ THESE BOOKS.
WHAT. *throws small rocks at you*
hehe. I\’ll forgive you. Just a little. x)
I AM JUST SO GLAD FAIREST EXISTS. I secretly wish all authors would write books for their villains. I find villains sooo fascinating (okay, um, INTJ here) and I always end up loving the villains a lot. I really felt for Levana, but she\’s still pretty awful and evil.
GUESS WHAT JUST ARRIVED IN TEH MAIL TODAY AFTER WAITING FOR 2 THOUSAND YEARS? YAY THAT\’S RIGHT GOOOOOLDEN SOOOOOON. (!!!!)
YES YES YES YES I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU TO READ IT CAAAAIIIITTTTT
I went ahead and bought an expensive copy from Fairest and IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. How gorgeous is that book and the inside? A court of thorns and roses was a magical experience for me 🙂 I hope you love it as much as I did and I can’t wait to get a shiny finished copy. The spines from The raven boys series *drools*
The bingo card was another sad day in the blogging community..
Your site loads fine over here 🙂
Oh oh I completely believe you. I just get so worried buying books I haven\’t read yet because gaaaah I NEVER buy books. >-< I always want to make sure my collection is perfection. But I don\’t think the paperback has all the flairs of the hardcover. 🙁
I am super excited for Fairest!! And after reading the Goodreads description for The Last Time We Say Goodbye, I’m excited for that one too!!! 😀
To answer your blog questions, I don’t have any issues loading your blog, it doesn’t load slow, and the few comments I’ve made have shown up just fine.
Oh, and by the way, I read the first chapter of The Dead Boy and the Paper Cut, and I loooove it!!! Thomas’s voice is so great!! It’s hilarious, and I just want to devour the rest of the book just because Thomas is awesome.
I\’M EXCITED FOR THEM ALL. *hyperventilates* It\’s hard to pick what to read. 0.0
Yay, though! Glad my blog loads fine for you!!
afjdlksafsd LEMME JUST FLAIL HERE FOR A SECOND. I AM SO GLAD YOU LOVE THOMAS.
Oh my gosh that freaking Bingo card hacks me off!!!!! It’s like you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. What do these authors even want?! Honestly? Well, they at least have to develop a tough enough skin for honesty. ALSO RED RISING?asdhjkslhjksalhdjkslhaj!!!!!!!!
EXACTLY. And we shouldn\’t be. It just shouldn\’t be like that. Authors are going to complain if they get reviews and if they don\’t get them. it\’s ridiculous, really. -_-
I for one have never had any trouble with your blog. Which is funny considering my terrible computer. It never loads anything. But your blog always works perfectly. Don’t stop using all the pictures. I LOVE THEM!!! Just so you know, no trouble over this way!
YAY IT LOADS. I AM RELIEVED. Sometimes it\’s a bit slow for me…so…yes. I get worried. (Maybe it\’s my computer/internet connection??)
Trust me your computer and internet couldn’t be worse than mine. Mine simply never works for me. But still it loads your blog (funny…)
I’ve got to say, I’m a little concerned about the new TKAM book, just because it does make me super suspicious, but hey, you’ve got Fairest! That’s awesome! I want to read it, lots. I myself just bought the paperback of Cress for my own selfie, and so I shall be delving into it very soon to enjoy. 😀 Much excitement!
I\’m just a litttttle suspicious too. I hope Harper Lee wanted it and it wasn\’t wrangled out of her. 😐
Ooh all the books! I haven’t read ACOTAR but I have read Fairest and it rocks my socks. I read it the first day it came out for me and reviewed it straight away!
And URGH that annoying bingo card thing really bugged me so much. I felt exactly like you! It was just rude and it’s sad to see so many authors agree with it; most authors that I actually love.
YES! I want to read I’ll Give You The Sun now <333
I absolutely loved Fairest! I READ IT IN LIKE JUST A FEW HOURS IT WAS PERFECT AND MARISSA MEYER IS A WRITING QUEEN.
O_O You got NINE books this week. From all the awesome publishers. O_O *tries not to be super jealous and wonders what your secret is*
DA PINEAPPLE GIF! NUMBER 1. (I’m going to count your uses of it. I don’t know how long this will last… XD)
Your blog loads fine for me! 🙂 And as for pics and gifs… well… sometimes they make things slow and/or don’t load, but it’s not YOU — my internet is just a stinker. And if YOU need to stop using pics then everyone else does too. XD A couple times your site has eaten PART of a comment… but that was rare and probably my fault. XD
ALSO CAIT.
I GOT RED GLOVE FROM THE LIBRARY TODAY ASLKDFJDLKJ I’M SO EXCITED! 😀
MY SECRET IS JUST THAT I AM ON A LIST. like sometimes I get nothing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So it does even out. I think 2015 is a year of wickedly awesome books though.
Okay, okay that makes me feel better. Sometimes things are a bit slow on my end so I hoped it wasn\’t me. 😐 Maybe my internet is being stuffy? OMG NAUGHTY PAPER FURY, HOW DARE IT BITE YOUR COMMENT IN HALF? *glares at blog*
ALSO, DEBORAH. I FINISHED BLACK HEART.
I “read” TKAMB when I was a freshman in high school but after I got 25% through the book, I just went on sparknotes to read it haha. I think it’s really cool that the sequel is going to be published! I never expected for it to have a sequel.
omg, you cheater. 😉 Fair enough, not every book is for everyone, right?! I don\’t think anyone ever thought there would be a sequel. 0.0
YAY FOR ACOTAR! I actually received a copy at ALA! I cannot wait!
Come and check out OUaT’s STS and ENTER our giveaways!
HAVE YOU READ IT YET?? IS IT GOOD??
What? A new TKAM?? I don’t know whther to be excited. TKAM, being one of the best books ever (in my very humble opinion, kind of means that any sequel has a lot to live up to. And I am rather keen to read fairest. I think I’ll have to wait a while or get it as an ebook, because you can’t get it here in india, i don’t think. Sssoo many books! So exciting!!
OMG I AGREE. The sequel has like an entire world to live up to, I really hope it goes over okay. *gulps*
Sarah J. Maas AND Fairest ? How lucky you are ! I have no trouble getting to your blog (just not enough time to do it regularly) and it loads normally. If you consider my computer/internet connexion, I’d say this is pretty good for you 🙂 I voted for Sarah J. Maas’s book and I have no opinion about the sequel of Mockinbird (when I heard about it at first, I thought it was a jok,e !). Have a great week 😉
I AM MOST POSSIBLY THE MOST LUCKIEST PERSON ALIVE, AMIRITE?!! *flails forever*
*whispers* I thought the sequel to TKAM was a joke at first too! I was like \”CANNOT BE POSSIBLE\”. 0.0
*whispers* Can you believe I’ve never read To Kill a Mockingbird? But, yes, I do believe that there is definitely some strangeness surrounding the publication of her new book–and it’s a little worrying to think that a publishing company would take advantage of that. Still, I think people are going to read it regardless. BUT ACOTAR. I LITERALLY SQUEALED WHEN THAT ARRIVED IN MY MAILBOX.
My sister has not read it either. -_- You guys, seriously. GAH. Go read it is all I can say. xD I really really hope HarperCollins didn\’t take advantage of her…
I DNF’d Throne of Glasss, but I like the sounds of A Court of Thorns and Roses. But I can’t decide whether I want to read it or not, so I probably will read some more reviews before I decide.
I really want to read your first chapter, but decided against it as I am one of those weird people who can’t stand to read only part of a story. I prefer not to start at all, unless I know I can read the whole book. So I’ll be patient and wait till you publish the whole story.
Your blog loaded fine on my computer. I once had some issues with my blog loading slowly and I started uploading my pictures externaly, which reduced the loading time weirdly enough. So maybe that works for you as well?
I had some issues with one blogger commenting several times on my blog and akismet kept sending her to spam, I am glad she mentioned it as then I could search for it and save some of her comments, after I unspammed 3 of her comments, she now suddenly can comment on my blog without being sent to spam. So maybe accepting those comments will help prevent it from happening again.
I\’ve only seen raving and flailing over ACOTAR so far…I can\’t wait till the actual reviews start. xD Oh that\’s completely fine! I\’m a bit like that, actually. haha. So I\’m being rather hypocritical just posting a bit of my book when I\’m the kind of person who avoids samplers. XD
I\’ll have to google how to upload pictures externally! SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN.
Yes! It does work for those people…but I just don\’t know if they don\’t tell me. xD
*whispers* You…got…ACOTAR…? Eek, I’m jealous! Excited to see what you think though. (And Fairest: I MUST GET <3)
Also RED RISING MOVIE HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS ohmigosh ohmigosh *flails* I mean, I thought I was doing pretty well on bookish news. I don't know how I missed this, but I'm freaking out right now.
I'm actually reading TKAM at the moment. I got it out of the library before the announcement, so I'm feeling quite smug at my psychic detection skills. c:
I AM STILL REELING THAT THE RED RISING MOVIE MIGHT BE COMING SOOOOON. Like I didn\’t see details on casting or anything but the fact that it\’s got a director and a script makes me afjdkalfdsa all over the place. XDXD
Dude, you are so totally psychic.
First of all, Red Rising is going to be a movie? I need to read the book soon then. I have it on my Nook but haven’t read it yet. The chapter for your NaNo novel was a lot of fun! You should definitely keep working on that project. And, wow! What a haul!
Yesss read it ASAP! It\’s one of my favouritest books and I just got Golden Son too so afjalskfd I will be just over here feeling all the feels.xD Omg, thank you! I\’m so glad you liked it. ^_^
Yay Fairest!! I’m so glad you loved it because I’m about to read it. Well, about to read it at some point. I’ve still never read anything by Sarah J. Maas, but one day… Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Here’s my Weekly Recap!
HEHE, I totally understand that \”about to read it\”. I\’m about to read like 30 books. WISH ME LUCK hehe.
FAIREST!!!!!! PLEASE post a review. I can’t wait until my library gets a copy.{Though I really just want the next chronological book because I want to know what happens to Scarlet and Wolf and the really cool new snow white like person who I don’t remember the name of} I’m going to reread the whole series I think even though there are so many many other books.
I will DEFINITELY be reviewing it! Probably at the end of this week! Fairest fits in nicely between Cress and Winter (since Winter doesn\’t come out till November *wails forever*) I would reread the series too but, soooo maaaaaany boooooks. *collapses*
I really want to read all the books you got! Fairest!! I ordered Cress on TBD last week, and it needs to hurry up and arrive so I can devour it! Then it’ll be onto reading Fairest ASAP 😀 I loved Scarlet so much, and I really want to continue on as soon as I can. I’m so late to the Raven Boys series! I need to hurry up and read the second book, and catch up 😀
I saw some of the drama unfold on twitter earlier in the week… sigh. I understand being frustrated with some things, but don’t lump everyone into the same category! I try to stay miles away from drama if I can, it’s just way too depressing! Have a fab week, Cait, enjoy all your new reads!
(PS, go read ACOTAR! I just started it, and it’s AMAZING!!)
Cress is BEAUTIFUL. I think I\’ve given every single book in the Lunar chronicles 5-stars so far. XD Although Scarlet is still my secret favourite. ERMAGERSH! THE RAVEN BOYS ARE THE BEST SERIES IN THE WORLD THOUGH. REEEEEAD IT. Hehe, If you want. <—see I\'m nice sometimes and not pushy. *nods*
Whew, that is one jam-packed post! Your books this week are awesome and I’m tamping down my smidge of envy.
Interesting and helpful review of Strong Deaf. I agree, that’s how ASL would look if you translated word-for-word – which hearing interpreters don’t. ASL is a separate language with its own grammar and syntax, and so much of it has to do with facial expressions and where signs are made/positioned in relation to the signer’s body and other signs, that a simple word-for-word translation misses half the communication. (My cousin and his wife are deaf, so I’ve had some exposure.) I wonder why the author chose to do that? I mean, it does convey some of the nature of ASL, but as you say, if you don’t know about ASL (which is actually a very expressive language), you could easily think the ASL speakers were not very smart or were uneducated, based on the literal transcription. …I wonder if my cousins have read it, and what they thought if so?
I did squish a lot in, didn\’t I?! XD
Exactly! I could understand if they used ASL for the speaking/signing bit…but all the deaf character\’s thoughts were in ASL too. I just wouldn\’t been absolutely miffed if I hadn\’t have been researching it earlier. (At least the book could\’ve explained why it was written that way?!)
Well, if someone’s first language is ASL, it makes sense that they would think in ASL as well…
That is so true. I didn't think of that…and I googled a bit more about it and seems so. I AM LEARNING A LOT OF STUFF. THANK YOU.
I’m both excited about Go Set a Watchman, and a little dubious. I am also wary of expecting too much from it. But I will definitely read it.
ME TOO. My thoughts exactly.
Fairest and Vanishing girls! Ugh I am so jealous! Also, I agree, Only Ever Yours was disturbing to say the least :(:(
Click hear to see my haul this week!
And click here to check out my giveaway of a book of your choice (It’s INT!)
Jade 🙂
Erk it was SOOOO disturbing and I was really emotionally caught up in it. Still…it was somehow good.
I AM SO DONE WITH BLOG TROUBLES, because I have no idea how to fix them. AND ALSO WITH DRAMA. I AM DONE. That was really mean, what that author did, and I’m not okay with it. But I don’t feel like talking about it anymore.
LOOK AT ALL THOSE BOOKS. I hope you have fun reading them all. I bought a hardcover of Fairest and I’m planning to read it today 😀 😀
CAIT, READ ACOTAR!! DO IT!! PRETTY PLEASE. I hope to start Fairest soon, I hear it gives lots of insights on Levana and tells how she became the evil person she is now. Sounds interesting. Nice haul <33
I was VERY excited about Harper Lee’s new novel, but then I heard the controversy and now I’m not sure I want to read it, since I can’t be sure it’s what she actually wanted. I’M SO TORN. 🙁
But YAY, Blue Lily, Lily Blue! Now you’ve got a US edition and a UK/Australian edition, haha! Also, that’s so exciting that you got review copies of Court of Thorns and Roses and Fairest. I know you’re a huge fan of both those authors, so that’s AWESOME! Good for you. 😉
I’ve seen the snarky bingo card and even more appalling all the authors that thought it was ever so funny. It seemed in poor taste to openly mock the people who are actually buying your product. Great books this week. I’m really excited about the Lunar Chronicles and Fairest sounds intriguing. I’m not sure what I think about the new Harper Lee with all the mixed press. Have a great week (btw I’ve never had a problem seeing your blog)
I voted for The Last Time We Say Goodbye because… IDK, I just like the title. 😛
Hmm. I… actually really like that bingo! Idk. I have a snarky, sarcastic sense of humor. It made me laugh and I think it actually makes some pretty good points about the more ridiculous reviews. So. Idk. I may have to write a post about this, because I have a lot of thoughts about it. 🙂
*is quietly jealous of your Maggie Stiefvater books because she doesn’t have any*
You got SO much publisher love this week Cait! I’m hoping to get Fairest this week or next. I’ve got so many books to get through. Ugh.
First of all, before I forget (squirrel!), I never have any trouble loading your blog. However, I don’t do it through Bloglovin. I follow my top ten (or so) blogs with my personal email, so if I want to comment, which for your blog is 90% of the time, I link through the email. Next, about Harper Lee (and I do so hope that someday if my son presents me with a granddaughter they will name her Harper), To Kill a Mockingbird is my top-of-the-heap favorite book of all time and second favorite movie. I have read MANY interviews in the MANY yeats since I resd it the first time and she has been asked MANY times about writing another book and she emphatically said NO, every time. So, yes, I think something is rotten in Denmark, to quote Shakespeare! And wow, you got the holy grail when you received ACOTAR! I think you should read that first. Isn’t the dust cover for BL,LB stunning? I have that and The Raven Boys in hardcover, so I keep hoping Book Outlet will get The Dream Thieves.
Sorry (squirrel!) TYPOS!!!! And I am so using that pineapple gif when I write the pineapple pants story this week (pinky swear). I will give you credit for the find. Oh, and I didn’t know THEY WERE MAKING A MOVIE OF RED RISING!!!!
You lucky duck getting A Court of Thorns and Roses! That should obviously be the first thing on your TBR list! 😉 *nods* I hope you enjoy it as much as you do Throne of Glass! 😉 And The Last Time We Say Goodbye is absolutely fantastic. Sad, but fantastic. I hope you end up liking it as much as I did!
And I am so glad you liked I’ll Give You the Sun as much as I did! 😀 Such a beautifully written book, right?
And I admit that the whole Harper Lee news is quite shocking and all – especially considering the circumstances, but I’m definitely highly anticipating it. I’d always thought that TKAM would be her only book, but I guess she’s got some tricks up her sleeve!
Thanks for sharing Cait, and great post! <3
(And to answer your questions, your blog is definitely fast and I've never had any trouble getting on it!)
I have no problems accessing your site or leaving comments ever.
Also, the dancing pineapple gif is the funniest thing ever, and I may have ruined my keyboard spitting my pop.
I feel like a lot of my books come all at once as well. Those are fab books though!!! I’m freaking out for you about Crown of Thorns and Roses. Seriously. Can’t. Wait!!! Definitely read that one first. 😉 Have a fantastic week and enjoy your books and thanks for stopping by!
Oh I was so, so, so excited about the sequel for To Kill A Mockingbird!! I cannot wait!! Time for a reread. I somehow missed the Twitter drama with that bingo card. The card was passive aggressive and so insulting. I guess every issue reviewers have with a book is cause to be made fun of. Makes sense, right?
WOW! That is one amazing pile of books. Please tell me you have devoured A Court of Thorns and Roses by now?!?! And if so then why haven’t you come to flail and fangirl?!?! HURRY CAIT! HURRY!!!
I got ACOTR this week too and I almost died!! I am sooo excited!!!! I cannot wait to see what you think 🙂 Check out my week if you’d like 🙂 http://bookbabble.weebly.com/blog/sunday-post2
I don’t even know where to start with this comment. ACOTAR?!?!? ASDFGHJKL when can I obtain this book????
Okay Maddy, deep breath. You can hold on until the release.
I’m pretty excited about the TKAM sequel, because I’ve heard that it’s her original idea, before a publisher told her to change it to have a younger narrator. Ve-ery excited.
And I never have problems on your blog, though I do read from Bloglovin’ a lot, and I don’t know if that affects it.
I’m green with envy! Look at all those awesome books! I see you loved Fairest. I’ll probably buy it as the mixed reviews has made me very curious!
Well, my copy of The Last Time We Say Goodbye is in transit, so if I want to live vicariously through you (which I totally do, by the way) you should probably read ACOTAR. Because I needs. Then you should probably read All Fall Down because I don’t own that either. But then you should read Vanishing Girls, because I loved it.
I have a few sads because you didn’t think Only Ever Yours was amazing. It was horrifying, but I mean… goodness, the message! Also, ummmm… I haven’t read To Kill a Mockingbird. Oops?
About your housekeeping: I have had no problems with your site. Which is good, because that would have been sadness fodder too. But I’d have tracked you down and let you know (I promise, I will do that if I ever have issues, because it is really nice to know!)
The bingo card. First, I am peeved because she did this RIGHT after I’d published my post about blogging/the bookish community. Secondly, she needs to know her audience. Listen, the card WAS funny probably, if you were a frustrated author. So you know, share it privately if you need to vent. I’m cool with that. BUT. And this is kind of a huge one: Who are your followers on Twitter? OH, right, those pesky Goodreads users who PAY YOUR BILLS. That’s like me going to my hypothetical job and telling my hypothetical boss that he’s annoying and funny looking and stupid and I need NOTHING from him in the future. What’s going to happen? He is not going to pay my sorry ass anymore. That just wasn’t smart of her.
I never have any trouble getting onto your blog and it’s never slow 🙂
I DISAPPEAR FOR A LITTLE AND ALL THIS STUFF HAPPENS???? YOU NEED TO READ ACOTARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
AND GAH YOU LOVED FAIREST. I feel the pressure to read it !
