It’s been a spectacular week for books, but a less-spectacular week for blogging. Am I having a slump!? Am I having stage fright?! I DON’T KNOW. But to be strictly honest with you, my farinaceous friends, I feel entirely un-fun at the moment, which equals my discarding posts because they’re not good enough — therefore not much blogging.
But, pfft, I shall concentrate on the fact that it’s a glorious week for BOOKS. Books are cheery creations.
It has been a desert of ARCs in my corner of the universe. LITERALLY A DESERT! I was actually getting mildly concerned. But then, of course, they all arrived at once. And are all published in April. TYPICAL. But shhh, I’m not complaining! I’m too excited by these monstrous beauties!
- ME BEING ME IS EXACTLY INSANE AS YOU BEING YOU: It’s told entirely in lists. HOLD ME. I THINK THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN FOR ME.
- HACKED & I’LL BE THERE: Surprise ARCs from Scholastic. (Thank you!) No clue what they’re about. But Hacked looks exciting.
- ROOM: I’ve wanted to read this for aaaages, but I was looking at a $2 fee to reserve it at the library. THEN! I scored a second-hand copy for $1. So. much. win.
- THE 100: Because I had an idea for a book and THIS BOOK ALREADY DID IT. Also apparently the show is delicious?
- THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS: I’m on a fantasy kick, peoples! Fantasy! Swords! Dragons! Firey thorns!
- THE WICKED WILL RISE: Thank you HarperCollins! And I’m finally doing this right, because I JUST read Dorothy Must Die and it’s fresh on my brain. (PS. This book is glorious.)
- THE REMEDY: Thank you Simon & Schuster! I really loved The Program but didn’t like The Treatment. But I love this one. I mean, they’re all psychopaths, but we all have minor personality drawbacks.
- THE CATALYST: Surprise ARC from Hachette (thank you) and I’m quite interested, but a little cautious because the author started writing it at 13?? Um. I don’t want to be the skeptic, but I am the skeptic.
- ALICE AND THE FLY: This cover is so gorgeous! Thank you Hachette! It’s also about phobias and obsessions and basically caaaaalls to me.
- DISRUPTION: Have you heard me rave about this book? BECAUSE MAGGIE AND QUENTIN ARE MY OTP. I ship them like I ship no others. Also, I scored a second-hand copy for $2. My bargain shopping is just extremely awesome. GO CAIT. GO CAIT.
HELP ME DECIDE WHAT TO READ NEXT!!

- MONDAY: I ask, very seriously, who is the BEST Sherlock? Discussion ensues. It’s glorious.
- WEDNESDAY: I confess to being a hipster in my wayward youth.
- THURSDAY: I review The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B and gasp and flail and just admire it’s perfection.
\\ Click on see Goodreads reviews! //
- THE YOUNG ELITES: OH this was such a disappointment. I expected evil villainous things, but the main character really wasn’t all that dark-side. ★★★
- ALTERED: The cover promises shirtlessness of teenage boys. There is a lot of shirtlessness of teenage boys. Also a sprinkle of plot.★★★
- SIEGE AND STORM: I just realised I adore this series. STURMHOND. He is so adorable and clever and witty. Why is book 3 not in my hands?? ★★★★
- THE WICKED WILL RISE: I’m such a fan of Oz and creepiness and witches. This was as good as book 1! ★★★★
- A GAME OF THRONES: It took me 2 months listening to the audio. There was pain. Some tears. Anguish. Frustrating. BUT I LOVED IT, OKAY?!! ★★★★★
- THE REMEDY:
I’ve had a lot of fun on instagram this week! Plus YAY FOR SUNSHINE. Gosh, words do not describe how frustrating weeks of rain and bad lighting is for someone [moi] who loves taking photos.

- The Young Elites movie rights have been picked up by the same people who made The Maze Runner and The Fault in Our Stars! YEEEHAAA.
- Maggie Stiefvater talks about feminism and basically proves she is too awesome to comprehend.
- LOOOOK. You can see a peek of the Paper Towns movie!
- There is a DEFINITE possibility the Black Widow might have her own movie. I’ll believe it when I see it though. I want this soooo bad and I’m kind of annoyed it hasn’t happened yet!!
- Beth @ The Quiet People asks if characters have voices when you read? Do you heeeeear voices in your heeeeead?
- Kristen @ My Friends Are Fiction asks what you used to do before blogging!
- Kaja @ Of Dragons and Hearts talks about un-recommending books.
- Genie @ Genie In a Book asks what we think about ads on blogs?
I’m not having a blogging “block” exactly, I’m just…UNSURE ABOUT ALL THE THINGS. I was looking through older posts and realised my style has changed a lot, just over these last few months. Which isn’t bad! It just surprised me. I don’t do as many silly posts and now, when I try them, it feels forced. OH THE WORLD IS A DARK GLOOMY PLACE. No, no I’m not dramatic, why do you ask?
On the writing front? I’M PLOTTING A NEW BOOK! I’m tumbling back in love with epic fantasy, which is where I started writing. But this one involves heists, psychopathic little sisters, lots of ice and snow, and a thousand-year-old wizard stuck in the body (and with the horrific sense of humour) of a 12-year-old. FUN.
And also, I’m REALLY proud of myself for finishing A Game of Thrones! I loved it. I truly did. Some parts were awful, and I was grossed out a lot, but the plot and world-building really are spectacular. I DID IT! I READ AN ADULT BOOK! Now onto the show?!
Firstly, thanks so much for linking to my post – I feel special XD
I am having the opposite problem when it comes to ARC’s at the moment – I can’t keep up! I’ve put off requesting for a whole because I seriously need to get to the books I already have to read. Not that I’m complaining of course, I’m know there are some absolute gems in there! Congrats on starting your next novel, it sounds fantastic already 🙂 And finishing A Game of Thrones – that is an achievement in itself (I haven’t started the books yet because I’m scared I won’t be able to finish it and find the time!), but the TV show is good. Gory and full of lots of grizzly things…but the plot is pretty awesome (even though people die in pretty much every episode – seriously it’s like NOBODY is safe). Hope you get some confidence back with your blogging Cait – your style is always amazing, and every post is fun to read – don’t doubt yourself!
AWWW. THANKS, EUGENIA. YOUT ARE SO ENCOURAGING. *commences happy flail* I'm not doing a lot of requesting of ARCs atm, which is probably why it's been rather a desert. AHAH. I mean, I could request more but then they all come in a bunch and I don't have space to review them all. GAH. But not complaining either. I still absolutely fLAIL everytime I get a book in the mail. 😉
I wasn’t sold on the first season of The 100, but I’ve heard that season two is FREAKING AMAZING. I should definitely start it sometime… I got an eARC of The Remedy ages ago but have been neglecting it. I’ll get to it soon though because I loved both The Program and The Treatment! Disruption is so pretty! I need. <33
No to blogging slumps! Just keep doing what you're doing now, because you are already hilarious as it is!
Everyone talks soooo much about The 100 show I'm just 10000% intrigued. (I feel that way with Teen Wolf, actually…first two seasons were meh and the THIRD SEASON WAS OMG FLAILINGLY FREAKTASTIC) I just finished The Remedy and it. was. so. good.
You finished A Game Of Thrones! And liked it! YES! It’s definitely my favourite fantasy series and has some incredible character development over the course of the entire series. I’m currently reading the second half of the fifth book, A Dance With Dragons, and it’s amazing. A Clash of Kings is a lot slower than the first one but once it gets going, it REALLY gets going. And then there’s A Storm Of Swords which will destroy your emotions.
That book you got which is told totally through lists looks interesting enough. It sounds a tad gimmicky but it could work, I guess. I’ll also be interested to see what you think of Room. I read it a while back and honestly wasn’t overly enamoured. It all seemed a little forced to me, but it was decent. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it!
AGH NOW I'M SUFFICIENTLY SCARED OF A STORM OF SWORDS. *hides under the bed* This one already tore me up a lot and I sooo don't want my favourite characters to die. IT IS SADNESS. I'm already getting the audio of book 2 out because I. need. it. Erk, I shall be cautious of Room then. >.>
I read the 100 last year after watching the TV Show which was definitely a mistake because they are so very different. I’d love to know your opinion though and I high recommend the TV Series! It’s fabulous!
Sarah x
So reading the book first is probably wise?! I mean I TRY to always read a book first, but soooometimes I don't. XD I'll just treat them like separate things?!
Sorry to hear you are having a blogging slump. They suck. Last time I had one, I deleted my blog and started all over again… Yeah. Don’t do that. (What are you worried about anyway? You know full well you are amazing.) Read all the books to cheer yourself up instead – the list one looks fantabulous!!
Beth x
PS. Thank you for the link!!!
OMG. I WON'T DO THAT. HAH. I would die. xD Paper Fury is like 99% my life. (Okay, pfft, 30% of my life is cake and 70% is Paper Fury. Let's be honest.)
I voted for Alice and the Fly because I’ve read that one – interesting and unconventional look at phobias; it made my skin crawl in parts. Here is my finds for the week https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/04…
OOH. THAT EXCITES ME. I read the blurb and saw the cover and ahhhh I wanted it so bad so I'm glad it's excellent. xD
I have a bunch pretty notebook that I dont really write in. they’re just so pretty and I dont want to ruin them so I write in whatever instead haha….And yay for you watching a Game of Thrones 😀
*dons emotional armour* I ALREADY CRIED WHEN LADY DIED. Again. Gah. That dire wolf. That was the most traumatic experience. :'(
I’m so glad you like A GAME OF THRONES! YES YES YES YES YES YOU SHOULD KEEP READING THEM. Those books continually tear me apart. But in a good way. I suppose? Haha, anyway, I completely adore that series. <3 And the show is pretty brilliant IMO.
I'M GOING TO GET BOOK 2 OUT FROM THE LIBRARY ASAP. BECAUSE I TRUST YOU AND I DIDN'T WANT MY LIFE TO BE HAPPY ANYWAY.
I haven’t read the Game of Thrones books yet-I figured I’d wait until I saw the series first which might help me remember a big cast of characters as my short term memory is sooo bad! But I haven’t even watched a single episode in series one yet! Arrgghh! I need to get in gear and watch it soon! I taped The 100 but I haven’t had the chance to watch it or a hundred other great sounding TV series! But I have a lot of books to get through this year so finding a balance has been a problem!
There are too many awesome TV shows to try right?!!
PLEASE watch The 100! It’s absolutely brilliant, especially the second series. And, dare I say it, better than the book. It’s definitely worth the watch. And yes, you need to read A Clash of Kings because so much happens in the rest of the series! (Some bits are pretty slow though…, but it’s still really good).
Me Being Me sounds really good, although I’m struggling to figure out how an entire story can be told through lists. Hmm, should be an interesting read! And I’m desperate to read The Girl of Fire and Thorns. I hope you enjoy it. 😀
GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS! GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS! GIRL OF FIREEEE AND THOOORNSSSS!!! Please, please, please read this! PLEAAASE! I pretty much ignored everything else (okay I did read it) but my mind was filled with this book because it’s one of the best and feminist YA Fantasies out theere!!! READ IT ASAAAAP!
I LITERALLY JUST FINISHED IT AND I AM IN COMPLETE AWE. omg. Literally THE BEST.
Oh my goodness you have an amazing book haul this week! I’m thinking I should try out The Girl of Fire and Thorns myself. And YAY FOR FINISHING A GAME OF THRONES! Wow, the audio must be hard to get through for such a doorstopper. So hard to find audiobooks, though *weeps*
And ooh, that is so awesome about the Johansson interview because I literally just posted about why I think there should be a Black Widow solo. AAAAAAH I WANT IT. ESPECIALLY ‘COS AGE OF ULTRON IS COMING AND I KNOW I NEED MORE STUFF.
I just finished Girl of Fire and Thorns and YESSSSS OMG GO READ IT. It's one of the most incredible books in the epic fantasy universe and it's really feministic which I LOVE. Agh, audiobooks are horrifically expensive. If the library doesn't have 'em, I don't listen to 'em.
Listening to Game of Thrones is the absolute BEST way to get through the series until you get to book 4. There are two versions of that audiobook…one with Roy Dotrice and one that is not Roy Dotrice. Just make sure you get the one WITH Roy. The other guy…ug! I’m actually STUCK on book 4. I’m hoping that after acquiring HBO Now and catching up on Season 4 and 5, I’ll be ready to get back on track with the books.
Have a great weekend, Cait.
I watched a few episodes of the TV show and I was having trouble because I was used to the audio narrator's accents. xD And the tV-show-versions were all different. aHHHH. #bookwormproblems
I keep meaning to read The Girl of Fire and Thorns, especially as I’m more into fantasy now than I used to be! I hope you enjoy all of your new pretties!
IT WAS INCREDIBLE. I just finished it and afjdklsaf so feministic and gorgeous and the character development was A+.
oh my word I totally collect notebooks too. Actually, most of the time people just give them to me because they know how much I love them… and I still don’t write in them. But the blank pages look so pretttyyyyyyyy…
YOU AND ME BOTH MY FRIEND. My handwriting is too awful to plaster over beautiful notebooks. XD IF ONLY I COULD DRAW. haha.
So glad you enjoyed Game of Thrones, I have wanted to pick it up recently, but I just haven’t had the time to do it. Also, The 100 is good, but the show is SO much better. Alice and the Fly sounds super, super interesting. Enjoy your beautiful stack!
-Monica @ Tomes Project
Omg, Game of Thrones is DEFINITELY a time commitment. XD It took me several months for this one and isn't it the smallest of the series?! Alice and the Fly is INCREDIBLE.
I haven’t read any of these but I do have GoT on my To-Read list. Happy reading!
Tsuki’s STS
It's a huge beast to get through but absolutely worth it!
The 100 TV show is good. A bit violent, definitely shows why you wouldn’t want teenage criminals in change, and not enough world building, but hey, it’s good. And I ship OctaviaXLincoln so hard. And that pile of ARCs is quite impressive, and since I’ve only been getting those independently published ones (that aren’t that good)…how do you get those? I must know!
I kind of hoped it'd be like another kind of Maze Runner?! HOPING. I'm going to try it asap. ^-^ I ask publishers for review-copies and usually get put on a list which is why most of these are unsolicited, but EH. I'm not complaining.x D
Not really…it’s more of a survival sci-fi show than The Maze Runner. And it has a lot of weird, two-headed creatures
Out of that list, I’ve only read The Girl of Fire and Thorns. It was my least favorite of the three, but I really did end up loving the series, so I think you should read it!
As for Game of Thrones…yes, I definitely reward myself after reading a book like that with a nice, fluffy contemporary. I stopped after the first three GoT books, because they were unpleasant and gruesome and the characters would not stop DYING, and I finally decided I was making myself miserable. The second book was truly awful, so I don’t think it’s worth reading. (I have a feeling you will anyways, though!)
AHHH I LOVED THAT BOOK!! I literally just finished it 10 minutes ago and oh. my. gosh. I am in love. Also I want to read the next books. x) *dashes for the library*Hehe, I think I will still read it because I AM AWFUL LIKE THAT, but I shall be cautious and try not to have mega-high expectations. xD
Me Being Me—okay, let’s admit it, that title is MOUTHFUL. But whatever, I want that book too! Aaaaahh! You lucky you! And congratulations on A Game of Thrones! You definitely deserve a cake! (Cakes are amazing, you actually don’t need a reason to eat a slice and you know that.) As for Book 2, you should continue. I mean, ASOIAF is great but maaaan do they consume SO MUCH time! I’m on Book 4 but I don’t think I’m reading it any time soon. But if you’re doing audiobook, I’m voting YES all the way!
Oh. I read Shadow and Bone a while back and, while I think the world-building is pure treat, I had problem with the pacing. Does it improve with Book 2? And yeah. I collect notebooks, too, for no reason other than the fun of it.
I know right?! CRAZY long title. I mess it up almost every time I refer to it, but pshhhhht IT'S ABOUT LISTS. IT WAS MADE FOR ME. I feel like book 2 was waaaay more interesting than Shadow and Bone. *nods emphatically* It's different, but STURMHOND. He changes everything.
YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN’T HAD CAKE YET?! I saw the size of Game of Thrones today and, oh my God, you need cake. Go and get some cake. NOW. 😉
Joking aside, I too am guilty of the crime of owning too many unwritten-in notebooks. I think I put off writing in them because I know that, as soon as I do, I will be tearing pages out and then they’ll be ruined. RUINED. I haven’t read anything from your stack yet but Me Being Me sounds AWESOME and I am curious about The Catalyst. Is it the same as when they were 13, or have they tweaked the idea as they’ve gotten older? I for one am forever tweaking my old ideas. 🙂 That novel you’ve just started planning sounds hilarious, by the way. 😉
I HAVE HAD CAKE AND I FEEL BETTER ABOUT THE ENTIRE WORLD AND BOOKS AND EVERYTHING. Agh, yes, I hear ya with the unused notebooks. I can't because I a) loathe my handwriting, and b) can't figure out what to sue them for anyway. I DON'T DO ANYTHING WORTHY OF MY NOTEBOOKS. *cries*
HOOOOOOOLD UP. YOU HAVE TO PAY—AS IN PAY—TO RESERVE STUFF AT YOUR LIBRARY? WHAT KIND OF BARBARIC SOCIETY DO YOU LIVE IN?
That being said it’s awesome that you loved Game of Thrones and YES to the appreciative opinion of Siege and Storm, because I do love that series. 🙂
YES. YES I DO. I LIVE IN A SAD SAD LITTLE PLACE THAT DOESN'T BELIEVE IN FREE LITERATURE APPARENTLY. They recently took off the price for reserving YA or MG books but they often shelve YA as adult, so yuh. Sucks.
Yes!! You should read the next book in the series. I finished Game of Thrones a little while ago but I have yet to find the second book. But I really want to read it. 😀
I've reserved it at my library now. ^-^ You are too convincing. XD
Wow. Wow oh wow. CONGRATS FOR FINISHING A GAME OF THRONES. You’re right. It’s huge!! And even though I’m super-invested in it I need to read it for a loooong time in one sitting for me to really sink into it. And since I have no time I’ve sadly resorted to other reads (but I will get back to GoT I swear!).
Blogging stage fright has happened to me, but I think our blogging voice tends to fluctuate up and down all the freakin’ time so don’t sweat it – we will still love you. 😀
I’ve got Room newly installed on my bookshelf and IT LOOKS SO GOOD. The first book I tbr-ed on Goodreads was Room. THAT’S how good it sold me: like “Jack is five. He lives in a single, locked room with his Ma.” Oh, the creepiness is seeping in!
Now a word of caution: A Clash of Kings is HUGE. Huger than GoT. As in: Game of Thrones could fit in two average-sized reads and Clash of Kings could fit THREE. (But I say continue. It’s addictive).
And isn't GoT like the SMALLEST one?! *gulps and hides* I don't know what I've done committing to this series. I really like the audios though, because I felt so much more connected. I think I would've died reading them on my own. >.>AW. THANK YOU. YOU ARE THE NICEST. I'm okay with “changing” a little bit…buuut, I don't want to lose my (lame?! lol) jokes. xD
I really like the idea of a book written in lists. I just don’t know if I can read it and not go bonkers… Hope you enjoy it, anyway!
My STS.
I'm really really keen for it, aaaand I flicked through and it looks like there's some prose too. xD
I have lots of notebooks that I’ve never written in. There’s one sitting about two feet from me as I type. I’m an empty-notebook hoarder (but I don’t care… there are worse things a person could hoard).
The only one of the books I’ve read on your list up there is Room, and I would definitely recommend that one. I loved it. The main character is so cute and his voice is so memorable and wonderful. I guess it’s technically an “adult” book because of the subject matter, but it’s not difficult to read (I mean as far as the reading level goes… it is narrated by a five-year-old, after all).
You and me both, my friend. EMPTY NOTEBOOKS FTW. Well, actually. xD HEHE. I'd like to fill mine! I just don't know…what with. It's so much easier to type. 😉
HOW is a book that is entirely told in lists so long? And how long would it be if it weren’t just told in lists?? Are they VERY detailed lists with tons of side notes? Clearly this is bothering me, so I voted for you to read it next, just so I could find out. 😀
BLACK WIDOW. I love her more and more the more I rewatch the movies (plus I fell in love with her voice after watching Her). I’m kind of pissed they’re making an ANT MAN movie before making a Black Widow movie – what the hell is wrong with these people? (Okay, okay, they did make a lot of great movies so far, so I won’t be too pissed BUT STILL.) From what little we’ve seen in The Avengers, it looks like Natasha would be an antihero kind of protagonist in her origin story and I would LOVE to see that. The article sounds promising but like you, I’ll believe it when I see it. AND I BETTER SEE IT SOON.
I LOVE The 100 as a TV show, but I hear the book is very different, so I have no clue as to whether it’s good or not. I hope you enjoy it though! (And watch the show HINT HINT. :D)
I DON'T KNOW. They're long lists!!??? But the size kind of surprised me too. xD I shall take copious pictures of the insides so you know, okay?! #iamsoniceI knoooow right?! Who the heck cares about Ant Man? Plus they're rebooting spider man. WHY. Why reboot him for the THIRD TIME and ignore the fact that it's 2015 already and there are NO woman starring in their own films. Sure Captain Marvel is coming, but they're taking their sweet time about it. This backward society. *growls*
Great Haul! Hope you enjoy them.

WILL DO
I loved The Remedy!
Come and check out OUaT’s STS!

IT WAS AMAZING, RIGHT?!!
I have had difficulty blogging and commenting recently. All these exams and stressful projects! Me Being Me sounds amazing!! Yeah I totally feel like I need to reward for working on Jane Eyre (only a hundred pages left!) I totally have a lot of unfilled or partially filled notebooks. I try to make myself fill them one by one. This was a great post! I liked the photos 😀 yay bargains
Agh, stress + blogging = suckiness. I always feel better and more invigorated for blogging when I'm less stressed/busy. XD GOOD ON YOU FOR JANE EYRE. I read half of that and then slunk away terrified. Child abuse?! I think: YES. 😐
The 100 is AMAZING (the show. I haven’t read the book, I have heard it is just okay). The first few episodes are like a production of a third grade play. They basically are awful and silly and you want to stop watching. BUT DON’T, because then it gets REALLY, insanely, fabulously good. The second season…. oh my goodness, I nearly had multiple heart attacks. Every episode.
Okay, moving along. I feel you on The Young Elites. I also gave it a 3. And yes, she wasn’t that evil. I mean, she had her moments, but it was like, totally justified because she’d been through like, the worst “childhood” ever. SO yeah, I am with you. But the epilogue makes me want to read the next book, so we’ll see.
Blogging slumps, yes, the struggle is real. I am having one now, actually. (Ironic, since I have posted a ton this week, BUT I felt “off” with a lot of the posts.) I’m actually having an opposite struggle- I WANT to be more fun, and silly, and ridiculous, and I feel like my reviews lately have been WAY too serious and/or boring. Also, I am just really tired. Physically and mentally, I am just exhausted, and I want to SLEEP, not blog. Anyway, my point is, you are very much NOT alone.
And OMG I totally do the notebook thing! I have three sitting by my bed that I won’t write in, because I like them too much. That doesn’t even make sense! I guess I am going to have to go get ugly notebooks to actually write in or something. Glad I am not alone 😉
I finished The 100 book and it. was. woeful. Seriously, don't even bother Shannon. DO NOT BOTHER. gah. I still want to try the show though, because I hear so many people promise it's amazing and I need in on this. Or something. The Young Elites wasn't HARDLY AT ALL EVIL. I mean she spent half the time being soft and cuddly…sure she killed some people but so did Clary and we ain't painting her as an evil darkside girl. -_- I've yet to be astounded by a Marie Lu book unfortunately. I AM TOO HARD TO PLEASE. Omg. Someone glare at me. (No, don't. I shall cry.)*whispers* I literally DO buy ugly notebooks to write in… >.> I have problems.
Aww. I’m sorry you’re having a blog slump. I don’t blog much, mostly because I feel how you described in the first part of this post whenever I do try to blog! Whatever’s the matter, I hope you’re feeling better about blogging soon. I hope you are feeling well, in general, actually!
It’s too bad The Young Elites was a disappointment as I was quite excited to read that one. Who knows, maybe I will still like it?
You should definitely read The 100! I haven’t seen the TV show but I loved the book. Just don’t go into it expecting a great masterpiece or a work of art. It’s just an entertaining book told from multiple POV’s and there’s a huge cliffhanger at the end! It’s full of action and excitement throughout the book.
I just finished reading the entire Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy last month! I hope you enjoy it when/if you read it. I really liked the diversity and the protagonist. It’s a great fantasy trilogy, especially if you did like Seige and Storm.
Yay for finishing Game of Thrones! I’m glad you really liked it.
Aw, thaaanks Emma! This is super encouraging!! I'm forever writing posts and deleting them but I hope I get over this soon because it sucks a lot of time and I feel so rotten at the end. >_< GAH. Hiatus might be helpful, but I just adore blogging too much. xDAnd you probably will still like The Young Elites! I'm a bit fussy. xD hehe. Nah, I've just read a lot of really really dark books and, for promising “dark side” I didn't think it lived up to it? BAH. I'M JUST FUSSY.
Did you make that paper flower? That is so good, I could never make something like that, and if I did, it would not look any good.
You got so many wonderful books. And all those bargains. I just started reading The 100 and am loving it. I am only six chapters in but I read all those 6 chapters in one go because I couldn’t out it down but then life happened so I had to put it down, but I didn’t want to. I have the boxed set of GoT books, but just haven’t had time to get to them yet. I have seen the first episode of the TV series, but I stopped watching it because it was a bit too much and decided I’ll just read the books instead.
Thanks for sharing.
I did!! It's a kusudama flower and technically uses glue sooo not origami but SHHH. I like to pretend I'm awesome and fold origami. The GoT books are daunting. I feel like I need a huge time commitment to start them. XD But the audio was pretty daunting and I survived so here's to getting through book 2, eh?!! HUZZAH.
These look great! I would love to read the Wicked will Rise and Disruption, which I’ve gotten from the library 3 times but haven’t read yet. How do you make time to read when you’re busy without staying up absurdly late? I watched the Avengers this morning and it is so good! Why did no one tell me how great superhero movies were before? or did I just not listen? When you read long books you do deserve rewards for finishing *cough* wise mans fear *cough* I also use the pre-emptive rewarding system. It is totally ineffective for doing homework/studying for that exam you have next week/going running.
DISRUPTION IS INCREDIBLE. I LOVE MAGGIE SO MUCH. ALSO QUENTIN. BUT MOSTLY MAGGIE. (And Gus freaking wonderful Gus.) Ergh, finding time to read can be a killer. 🙁 And I struggle to read late at night because my eyeballs fall out. OKAY. MAYBE NOT. But feels like it. They buuuurn. And I end up falling asleep faceplanted in a book. -_-
Cait, I’m going through the same thing as well. My style has changed a lot since I first started blogging, but we tend to naturally evolve over time to keep things fresh you know? I don’t think it’s a bad thing, it just shows us how far we’ve come. I know you’ve wanted to read Disruption for a long time now, so glad to hear you loved it! I’m still waiting on my review copies to arrive this month xD have a great week lovely!
Like our very own writing-ly character development, right?! 😉 hehe. But it IS true. And I'd be mortified if I still blogged like I did in the beginning. But gaah, it's a bit scary, right?! I don't want to change too much but I can't seem to help it right now. I WANNA STILL BE FUN. *plots some devious posts* I have actually read Disruption and I LOVE IT SO MUCH but now I own a copy so *happy dances* !!
Boo to blogging slumps! Yay to your beautiful pictures- really you have a wonderful IG account. Also I voted for Room and while I didn’t super love it I found it really interesting. When you asked about collecting notebooks I was like “How does she know me???” No really I buy them all the time. I actually have plans for them. And then they sit there and just be pretty.
Aw, thank you.XD I love instagram IT IS LIFE, TRULY IT IS. But, seriously, the struggle is real with notebooks. I keep planing to fill them with quotes…or something…but I can't bear to ruin them. XD
I’M BACKKKKKKK *squishes your blog* I MISSED READING ALL YOUR POSTS BUT I’M BACK WITH A VENGEANCE AND ALSO I HAD A LOT OF BOOKS WAITING FOR ME SO THAT’S COOL. REALLY MUST LEARN TO BARGAIN HUNT CAIT-STYLE.
OMG YAAAAAY YOU'RE BACK!! THE INTERNET HAS BEEN TOO QUIET AND LONELY WITHOUT YOU, BUT NOW I'M DESPERATE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR TRIP. PICTURES? WE GET PICTURES RIGHT?!!
Awesome haul you have here. Happy reading!
WILL DO.
I have blogger block. I want to blog about more bookish things but i’m stuck and have no clue what to write. And yes, I’m so guilty of collecting empty notebooks, they are just so beautiful!
Well, I HEAR YA, in your blogger's block. It's a real pain, right? >_< I keep writing things and deleting them which is soooo not good.
There are an insane number of books coming out in April!!
I listened to GoT on and I think it took me a month, at least, to finish. It’s an amazing book and really good on audio. Then I went online peeked at some spoilers for future books and decided that I wasn’t going to continue reading/listening. It’s not really my kind of story, but I was really impressed with it at the same time. If that makes sense.
It totally makes sense!! I was awed by the sheer SIZE of the world. I've never read a book that tackled such a vast universe and pulled it off. xD Probably helped that it had 800-pages to set it up. HA. Omg, though the internet is rife with spoilers.
Hey, Cait, thanks for the mention! I was surprised by a weird spike in my blog visits and was very happy to see it came from you. 🙂
I have a box full of unused notebooks hidden under my desk (there are like 35 of them or something). I think that if I never buy another notebook again (HAHA), I still wouldn’t run out of space. Ok, so I received some of them as gifts but still.
I was excited about Young Elites, too, but I saw so many *meh* reviews around the blogs that I decided not to read it. 🙁 So sad when that happens. I’m glad you liked Game of Thrones – I’m currently stuck at about 15% of Dance With Dragons…
Have a nice week!
OH YAY!!! I'm glad people click on the links and go over! YOUR POST ROCKED.Oh wow. 35?! You have it worse than me. xD HAHA. Every year, though, I tell myself I'm going to start filling them with quotes or something…and…nada. I'm so lazy. -_-
Ooh, Room is amazing – one of my favourite books! I’ve heard great things about Alice And The Fly too. Hope you enjoy all your new books & thanks for stopping by! 🙂
I'm reading Alice right now and OMG IT IS AMAZING AND TERRIFYING.
My parents kept prodding me that I never read classics, so to get them off my back I read Les Miserables, which was like 1,500 pages. It was long totally worth it, and I let myself have some ice cream when I finished. So I totally get how you feel about Game of Thrones. You must be so ecstatic to have finished it!
And wow! Awesome haul this week too! Looking forward to seeing what you think of all of them. (Especially The Girl of Fire & Thorns since it’s totally up your alley and all being fantasy).
And aww…I totally hear you about the blogging ordeal. I think you should just post whatever comes to mind, because even if you don’t try you’re still absolutely hilarious. ♥
oh…wow. 1,500 pages?! I CANNOT EVEN FATHOM. I think the later GoT probably get up to there, but 800 seems pitiful now. XD Still. We deserve ice cream. We do.I'm on such a fantasy craze. XD Awww. *tackle hugs* YOU ARE SO ENCOURAGING. :')
I just finished Wicked Will Rise last night. Really enjoyed it. I love retellings. The 100 was also good. I actually think the tv show is better. They are different in many ways.
Congrats on finishing a Game of Thrones book too! I read the first one a bit back and really enjoyed it. It was so long though, I haven’t really gotten around to the rest of the series. I plan on listening to the audio books actually that way I can get through them on my long drives to work! I have watch the show too. Not many differences in the show except the characters ages and of course the show has a soft core porn. The show is one of the main reasons I decided to read the books. It is so hard for me to watch the show with my kids around so I would rather just read the books and honestly I like the less pornish side to the books 🙂
Thanks for stopping by over on my blog 🙂 I love the look to your blog 🙂 New follower via twitter.

I feel like I need to read AND watch The 100. xD People say they're so so different and I trust you guys. 😉 I can't ever sit still and listen to audios…I have to be doing something. xD I usually listen when I go for a walk. I've watched a few episodes now and yeah, lots more sex than in the books. Which kind of frustrates me. And the ages also. bUT WHATEVER. It's interesting seeing the book come alive like that. XD
You have to pay money to reserve books at your library?? whaaa??? I guess it’s kind of a good idea to get more money into the library system, but I’ve never heard of that before.
PS farinaceous is a cool word. Farinha (fard-een-yah) is the Portuguese word for flour, so that makes sense with the root of the word.
Only adult ones, but I AGREE. And it's a few dollars too…which SUCKS when one is a poor bookworm like me. I might as well just spend a few more bucks and buy the book. -_- I think books should be free.
…Woah woah woah. Hold up. How would there be a $2 fee for reserving something at your library?! WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?!
(Yes, I had to comment just to ask that.)
Also, yeah…I totally collect notebooks and am scared to write in them for fear of messing up their perfection. It’s bad. Really bad. Oh well…it’s not like I’m gonna stop anytime soon.
YES. I HATE THAT MY LIBRARY DOES THAT. It's on adult books, but, tbh, they mark a lot of YA as adult anyway. I think libraries should be free. *growls* It doesn't encourage reading when a FREE (erm) library resource IS NOT FREE.
Oh my God, ‘Room’ is so good! Seriously, read it now! It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read!
I TRUST YOU. AND I SHALL DO THIS ASAP.
Funny, cos I just read about an article about the author of The Catalyst a few days ago. (link here: http://www.theguardian.com/childrens-books-site/2… She looks and sounds pretty amazing so yeah, I voted for The Catalyst for your next read :).
Oh, yes, I hoard notebooks like a squirrel. Sometimes I take them out and admire the pretty pretty designs, decide to actually writhe in them and make them more than just notebooks. But I always stop myself right before the pen touches the paper. I DON’T WANT TO RUIN IT. My solution to this is DON’T BUY NOTEBOOKS. Which is kind of sad, but an efficient way to save money. 😛
WOW. That interview was INCREDIBLE. (Thanks for linking me! I'm saving that.) And I totally am pretty keen to read the book now. 😉 Baaaad me being so skeptical. heeh. I didn't realise she was still only 15 getting it published (!!) omg. So amazing.
Great haul this week. They all look awesome! And I know what you mean about them all showing up at once haha
I hope you enjoy 🙂 Happy Reading!
Here’s my Weekly Wrap Up
Michelle @ Book Briefs
It's half daunting and half super exciting when they all show up at once, right?! XD
Read The Girl of Fire and Thorns! Siriusly! That’s a great fantasy series. And I agree with you about The Young Elites. It was not a happy book and coupled with my mood when I was reading it, the inevitable happened.
Oh goodness, notebooks! I love notebooks! You want to write in them but you also don’t want to because so as not to ruin the pristine white. I’m a sucker for covers with intricate patterns.
After I read a huge book, I usually walk around like a zombie while I ponder the finer points of my unlife.
I haven’t read any book in the Song of Ice Fire series though know what’s happening thanks to wiki pages and the TV series. A friend recommended that I read them because we all know that it’s not the same with watching it since we miss half of everything. So, go ahead, read Clash of Kings. XD
I'm reading The Girl of Fire and Thorns RIGHT NOW. And OMG IT IS GLORIOUS. AFDJSKAL I already love it and I'm halfway through. ^-^Agh, book hangovers. YOU AND ME BOTH, MY FRIEND.
Ooh I recently read The Remedy and while it wasn’t amazing, I definitely found it incredibly thought-provoking. Hope you enjoy it!

So I read Game of Thrones (and Clash of Kings) about a year ago, and found it enjoyable but moderately annoying. I think the reason was that there was no main character. I thought Ned Stark would be Mr. MC, and I really liked him… but then…. well, you know how that went.
I was super hung up on finding one – or two – I’d even settle for three – main characters. But NO.
I really don’t like reading history books, unless they’re historic fiction, or written as a story. GOT felt to me like a fictional history book, and I didn’t like that. I liked lots about it, don’t get me wrong, but I really wasn’t TOTALLY getting into it like I hoped I would. (I also had minor issues with the female characters. Yes, they’re strong and awesome, but some of them were still not up to my personal feminist standards, and I felt the book was obviously written by a man.) So after Clash of Kings, I quit.
HOWEVER. My friend recently told me that after the first two books, the series gets less of a “history book” vibe, and more adventure. (I’m guessing this is because he’s running out of people to kill.) So I’m hoping to give the series another try eventually, because I feel that there will be some point in my life where I can actually enjoy the books like they’re meant to be enjoyed. That time might be this year or it might be way in the future. It just wasn’t last year.
yup. Bye bye Mister Stark. Although, I like a lot of the minor characters in book 1 so hopefully I'll be okay with book 2?! I MEAN I'M SO SUPER CURIOUS BUT ALSO SCARED. So we'll see. x)
Definitely read Clash of Kings! I plowed through GOT two summers ago and love comparing the book to the show, which is just as awesome.
I'm sooo excited for ACoK. XD I just finished S1 of the show, but I'm going to read the books first. 😉
