WOW. Intense month? I think yes.
A lot happened, including finding stacks of delicious book bargains 2nd hand, getting a new niece, I officially have read 100 books this year, and…oh, by the way, there was that day my blog hit 7,000-PAGEVIEWS IN 24 HOURS. SO YEAH. THAT HAPPENED. My post about 10 Things You SHOULD Tell Writers just exploded and everyone shared it (even a few big-name facebook pages!). So basically I went viral. Heck yeah. To put this in perspective, I usually get 600-pageviews a day. And yup. I’m back to 600. But it was a glorious 24 hours.
Also! Huzzah for 105 books read so far!
There is a slight possibility I’m an over-achiever.
Library reserves ALWAYS come all at once, I tell you. It’s a librarian’s conspiracy. And, as you can see, my fantasy kick is still going strong!
- ZARKORA: This was a surprise ARC from Hachette (thank you!!) and while it’s Middle-Grade, I’m still super excited because it’s written by an Australian brother-sister-team. HOW COOL, RIGHT?!
- WINTERGIRLS: Library! I already read it. It was…traumatic.
- GRACELING: I’m currently reading this and so far? LOVE. Library love!
- DEAR KILLER: I’ve wanted to read this forever, but the reviews are…less than glowing?! (Library.)
VICIOUS: I AM SO EXCITED I COULD FLAIL LIKE A WILD AND UNABASHED GIRAFFE. I’ve wanted to read something by Schawb for a long looooong time and finally it is in my cold and clammy little paws. Oh, mwha ha ahaha. (Library.)
- THE REST OF US LIVE HERE: A surprise ARC from Walker Books (thank you!!) and I’m stoked because PATRICK NESS. Genius, that guy. Also WALKER BOOKS SENT ME CHOCOLATE. How nice are they? How incredible? They are my favourites forever and ever.
- THE LOST HERO (Heroes of Olympus #1): Look at me! Reading so much Riordan. I devoured it immediately (duh) and now I’ve read 5 Riordan’s this year. This was my FAVOURITE.
- DREAMS OF GODS AND MONSTERS (book #3): I’ve avoided this book because a) it’s the size of a small country, and b) I don’t want the trilogy to be over forever! Mixed emotions here, peoples. (I also didn’t love book 2 very much, so I’m nervous.)
HELP ME DECIDE WHAT TO READ NEXT!

I am nothing if not an Instagram addict. Click the pictures to see them full-sized!

I read 25 books (which is a little calmer than last month’s 33, right?!). And I hit a few scowly bumps, so let’s dive in, shall we?
- BEST BOOK? HALF WILD! WITHOUT A DOUBT. I’ve been anticipating that sequel for months and it. was. perfect. My other 5-star reads were Death Bringer and A Game of Thrones and The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B.
- WISH I’D NEVER READ? Oh my gosh, hold my aching brain. The 100 and Hacked both got 1-stars and an appalled rage review from me. (I’m sorry except I’m not.)
- DID I LAUGH? Is Derek Landy on this list? YES. So of course I laughed my head off. Also Me, And Earl, and the Dying Girl had me snorting.
- COVER LOVE? Can we take a second to admire at my consistent colour scheme this month?? The dark greens and blues totally match. ANYWAY. I love Alice and the Fly!
- CHALLENGES? I flunked at finishing any series/trilogies this month. BUT! I read Rags and Bones and Dorothy Must Die and The Wicked Will Rise for the Fairy Tale Retelling challenge!
- MOST EATEN GENRE? I can’t get enough Epic Fantasy, peoples! I CANNOT. And for the first time in, like, EVER it’s my top eaten genre!! 8 epic fantasies! Contemporary is a close second, though, at 7.
- RATINGS? Usually I get one 1-star rating. But this month? UM. There were three of them. But the amount of 4-stars is positive! I’m not too ridiculously hard to please….yet.
I can, however, always be pleased with pie. And considering these are PIE charts…
WHAT YOU CLICKED ON THE MOST:
- 10 Things You SHOULD Definitely Tell Writers – this clearly wins the universe since it got my highest pageviews-in-one-day-EVER.
- Hot Cross Buns – clearly you peoples wanted to see a) food, and b) my face
- Why Is There So Much Sexism In Epic Fantasy? – an excellent question and everyone made it an excellent discussion!
INTRIGUING SEARCH RESULTS:
- writers mottos – Well my motto is basically “read a lot, write a fast, and avoid dubious vegetables”.
- who does alyssa end up with in ensnared – AS IF I’M SAYING. HA. GO READ IT.
- drive by book characters – I don’t even know what this means. Are they driving past something? Are they in need of take-away-food?
- paper furty – No. But keep trying.
- Sadly, The Raven King (Raven Cycle #4) by Maggie Stiefvater has been pushed back in release date. CRY WITH ME, MY FRIENDS. Although, I’m not really complaining, because it’s better than waiting 6 years like some of us **coughmecough** have been waiting for the last book in her Faerie trilogy. I will wait forever. I WILL.
- Jace has been cast for the new City of Bones TV series! (I got to admit, I cry a little because I think Jamie Campbell Bower was perfect.)
- Also Simon (no) and Isabelle (perfect) have actors!
- The Selection is becoming a movie! (Can you imagine the dresses?!! YAY.)
- YA author, Natalie Whipple, talks about being on subs and watching everyone else succeed while you have to wait. This article, tho, is amazing.
- John Green explains that book to movie adaptions can be loyal to the book without being scene-for-scene accurate.
- ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner are writing a new series together, pitched as Indiana Jones meet Tomb Raider…IN SPACE. I’m dying. I WANT.
Also, cover reveals!
I think I’m in love.
- Amanda & Stacie @ Beautiful Bookish Butterflies have a new look! (It’s gorgeous.
- And speaking of new looks Mel, Larissa and Celine @ YA Midnight Reads have one too and it, also, is fabulous. GEE YOU GUYS. EVERYONE IS SO SPIFFY.
- Also Kelly @ Diva Booknerd has a new design. IS THERE SOMETHING IN THE AIR? (Also gorgeous!)
- Treskie @ Occasional Randomness is going to do a giveaway of her fabulous drawings when she reaches 100!! Basically she’s fabulous and sickeningly talented so GO FOLLOW HER.
- Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight admits all the bookish things that confuse her. (It is totally ludicrous that the SAME book can have different titles. What even?! I’ve literally borrowed two books, read one, and then started on the other with a strange sense of deja vu. Whyyy do publishers do this?!!)
It rained a lot this month, which made me miserable. Miserable-Cait basically ran her small business and avoided writing. BUT! I did manage to wrangle out 5 book ideas — they’re completely plotted! WHAT MADNESS IS THIS. All I need to do now is…write…them.
Also this conversation went down after Walker Books sent me chocolate:
Proof that Australian publishers are the best in the universe.
Just a few quick housekeeping squeaks:
- It’s my 4th blogversary at the end of this month aaaaand…I WANT TO DO SOMETHING BIG! Maybe a party? Maybe a huge giveaway? I don’t know, peoples, but if you’ve got suggestions/things you’d like to see me do…shout out!
- Are you getting email replies to your comments?! I’ve been fiddling with settings a lot to try and get this to work, so let me know with the poll below! (If you don’t comment regularly, don’t answer the poll! It’ll confuse me, and you don’t want to do that.)

I just started getting comment reply emails again! Which is good. I bought three secondhand books today which were beautiful and made me happy (also for 270 rupees which is like 5 aus dollars) READ DREAMS OF GODS AND MONSTERS. Your feels will break a little, but it’ll be worth it. I’m going to be plotting a novel this month (yay!) and doing exams (which speaks for itself) My April was great, but I am a bit behind in blogging and books (luckily I’ve put myself on a STRICT library ban to help out with that.) I finished Disruption and the Winners Crime which were really really good. Your bookish pictures are beautiful. I’m in love. Also, you should read Graceling, which is a very cool epic fantasy.
YAY MABYE MY NEW COMMENTING PLAN IS WORKIN!!! (I don’t even know what I’m doing here, just making a mess most likely. xDD) Second hand books are wonderful and save so much and just make me a million percent happy. You scored an awesome deal there!!
My heart is perpetually broken by books these days. BUT WHATEVER. I DON’T EVEN MIND. I’m reading Vicious though, because VILLAINS, but then I’m starting DoGaM. XD ohh, plotting?!! Do we get to know what the book is about?!! x) And good luck with your library ban! I really ought to do that and start writing but I have no self-control these days…**sigh**
Wow Cait that’s amazing that you got 7000 pageviews in one day! I got that new Patrick Ness ARC as well – it looks really good (and the chocolate as well – what a bonus!) Hope you have a lovely week 🙂
But the real question is…how long will your Walkerbooks chocolate last?!! My dad/sister have basically stolen mine. -_- lol I hope you have a great week too!!
An overachiever? You? Gee, you THINK? 😉 Seriously, I’m ten books ahead of schedule and you’re putting ME to shame! 😛 Well done! My April has been a confusing mix of rewriting the sixth part of my rewrite over and over and over and over and over and over and over… okay, I’ll stop now… again, wading through high fantasy books (two – for some reason I just felt like it when I was at the library so…), and revising/panicking. My most anticipated May read? I finished Half Bad and bough Half Wild the following weekend. I’m rushing through my library books just so that I can get to it – I HAVE to know what happens next (and then I’ll need a time machine so that I can get my hands on Half-Lost).
I used to get emails about comment replies, but then they stopped…
CONGRATS ON YOUR POST GOING VIRAL!!!!!!! XD WE SHOULD HAVE A PARTY. AND CAKE.
I JUST GET THIS OVER ACHIEVING VIBE, BUT JURY’S OUT. DUNNO IF IT’S ANYTHING YET. 😉 Ooookay yes, Maybe I put my goals too low?!
Omg, that sounds frustrating with your rewrite. I hope you get that kink soon. 🙁 I totally understand how it feels to be stuck on a scene. I got stuck so badly on a book I literally rewrote 80K of it at least FIVE TIMES. *cries* It was very very frustrating and I nearly quite writing. (It was like 4 years ago and I was very dramatic. haha.)
I HOPE YOU LOVE HALF WILD. I’ll come after you and throw cake if you don’t. HAAAAA. I’m just kidding. I shall be kind. But it’s got a wicked cliffhanger so you’ve been warned. 😉 #amsonice
Yay for going viral- very cool. I completely agree that all the hole come in at one time on the library – every time without fail. Love the Instagram. Amazing reading this month! There are a lot on my TBR in there. And I can’t resist a good pie chart (it’s the accountant in me)!
I can’t resist a pie chart because...of the foodie in me. hehe. I love visual things. ANYWAY. Thank you!! It was totally the highlight of me week going viral. (Well, viral-ish?! I mean it’s probably not huge compared to some, but it’s absolutely mind blowing for me. xD)
My April is pretty science-y blogwise. We’re also having a drought here in Taiwan. Not fun. But I started to love math a bit more (just a bit), that’s a good thing.
Eh, I can’t vote for what book you should read next (the vote doesn’t work) so I’ll just say it here: read Vicious or The Rest of Us Live Here! I haven’t read any of them, but I’ve heard AMAZING things about Vicious (one of the main characters only drink chocolate milk), and The Rest of Us Live Here is basically a book I’ve always wanted to write (in which the protagonist is NOT a special seashell who “must” save the world) finally realised by Patrick Ness! Ahhh, I’m excited for you either way. (But chocolate. But Vicious. But Patrick Ness. But antiheroes.) You’re SO going to have a fabulous reading week. *casts envious eye daggers*
Wintergirls is very traumatic indeed. It’s the best and the worst in one book. I cried so hard that I can’t finish it :'(. I’m sorry to say though, The Lost Hero is one of my least favourites by Rick Riordan, mainly because the unacceptable lack of Percabeth, and I’m not used to new characters. 😛
How is it going with Mistborn, by the way? I’m looking forward to your review! (Epic fantasy is the best. I also recommend The Earthsea Cycle by Ursula Le Guin. I’m rereading the series only to find that I love it more than I remembered.)
ERgh, great. There is always something that doesn’t work, right?! I think that poll widget is giving me WAY too much trouble, so I might find a new option. I’M READING VICIOUS RIGHT NOW AND LOVING IT. Patrick Ness is, like, phenomenal so I’m 100% sure I’m going to love that book. I love reading about those “special snowflakes” buuuut, I’m even more excited to read about someone who’s NOT.
I’m doign okay (i think?!) with Mistborn. I haven’t picked it up for a few days, but I’ve been chewing through Riordan and that kind of stole my attention. xD I like it but it’s definitely heavy going. *gulps*
OMG! You have The Rest of Us Just Live Here! I want this book so bad! (Don’t let Asti see this post, she’s dying to read this book. She might fly to Australia and steal it – or I might ;))
Congrats on going viral! (Never actually thought I’d say that to someone :D) I’m glad you’re enjoying Graceling – I love this book!
Nooo! I did not know this: why do they have to delay The Raven King?! I hate it when this happens!
Every time I see pie in your posts, it makes me want pie 🙂
I shall hide everything from Asti. *nods and hides things suspiciously* SHE SHALL NOT KNOW. And Graceling was amazing, absolutely amazing. x) I need the sequel ASAP. I think Maggie Stiefvater isn’t finished edits and she wanted more time to make it perfect. Which I totally understand, but yes! SADNESS.
7000 pageviews in one day??? Wow, Cait that’s awesome! I could only hit that amount after 4 months of blogging and you got that in 24 hours.
Give me just a moment to register it:)
Graceling is amazing, isn’t it? I am loving it too.
And Vicious! I bought it a few days ago.Do you wanna buddy read that one as well?
And I am excited to see what you’ve planned for the blogoversary! Knowing you, I am sure it will be awesome:)
Ohhh dear I just started Vicious. I’LL MESSAGE YA.
*whines* I want the Patrick Ness! Why can’t I have it!? stupid publishers rejecting me. I just wish I knew why. What’s wrong with me? bloody nothing! I’m fabulous.
You’re also fabulous.
OH THAT IS SAD NEWS. *cries quietly for you*
HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY! And also, well done for going viral, I remember that post being epically fantastic (not a wordplay on your love of epic fantasy at all…)! I remember one time on tumblr I wrote an original post, and it got 1,000 and I died from shock (I don’t even get notes for original posts!). So that was my short-lived fame. :’)
So you read Me and Earl and the Dying Girl? Did you like it? I personally didn’t enjoy Rags & Bones (I couldn’t finish it), but I’m glad you seemed to like it (it wasn’t on your ‘wish I’d never read list’, that’s for sure!).
My fame was short-lived too, haha. I’m back to small pageviews, but stillllll I BASK IN THE GLORY OF THAT BRIEF MOMENT. XD
YES! I LOVED IT! I laughed my head off. And I hated Rages & Bones. I actually forgot about it for a while there but it go 1-star from me. So boring. :'(
WHAT DO I COMMENT ON FIRST? Okay. I’ve got this.
1) CONGRATS ON GOING VIRAL. My best ever view count was five hundred and something, haha. 7,000 is, like, off the charts.
2) I really hope Harper ups their chocolate game, I’ll be honest.
3) I’m either going to read The Lost Hero or Skulduggery Pleasant for the invincible GR book challenge thingy, so that’s exciting.
4) CONGRATS ON GETTING TO 100 BOOKS. That’s crazy!!! 🙂
7K IS off the charts. I’m still dyyyying of surprise, because I literally was SO surprised when I checked my stats and found that. :O And yes, HarperCollins better up their game. I love how Bloomsbury sends tissues and Walkerbooks sends Chocolate…so, Idek, maybe HarperCollins should send flat-packed bookshelves? #justsayin
Oh my gosh, it sounds like you had such a great April! CONGRATS with the 7,000 page view thing, oh. my. word. O_O THAT IS INCRED. *600* is even a feat, my average per day is that (minus the two zeros, ahahaha XD . . . ). 😉 ALSO. HAPPY. FOURTH. BLOGGING. ANNIVERSARY. That is super, super exciting. :’D AND FOR EXCEEDING YOUR READING CHALLENGE!!! There is so much to congratulate you for, it is ajdkfla.
My April was *great*! While I definitely failed at Camp NaNoWriMo (it was a fun experience, but I think I will just stick to November XD), but got a ton of other stuff written! Also, got back into reading just recently and I’m reading a book that. just. like. oh my word. I can’t focus on anything else until I finish it. XD
Excuse my horrific grammar up there. O_O
*’While I definitely failed at Camp NaNoWriMo (it was a fun experience, but I think I will just stick to November XD ), I got a ton of other stuff written!’ That’s what I get for not reading through my comment before posting, lol. XD
I don’t mind horrific grammar. I am the QUEEN of horrific grammar, trust me. 😉 AFKDJLASDF THANK YOU FOR ALL THE THINGS, THOUGH. I FEEL SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. ^-^ Awww, sucks that NaNo didn’t work out for you. ARe you doing the July version?! Hopefully I’ll have my brain into gear and be ready to try July. XD
I can’t vote in you comment-poll because I need to tell you things other than just ‘yes’ XD I’ve been meaning to tell you this for a while BUT
when you first switched to Paper Fury then I got ALLLLL THE EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS and it was glorious and beautiful. Then for the last…. six weeks? Two months? Ish? I haven’t gotten any. Then this morning I got an email about your reply to my comment on your review post for ACOTAR. So whatever you did, it’s working now(I guess?). I’ll keep your updated.
TELL ME IF YOU GET THIS!!! Because I’ve completely changed how I’m answering comments. (I used to through email, but now I’m on my WP dashboard doing it. :O So I hooope it works.)
I’m reading Vicious right now and really enjoying it. I hope you like it, too. Congrats on getting 7000 pageviews. That’s amazing.
It is soooo good. xD I started it just now and the beginning is INCREDIBLE. I’m so hooked. xD
Do not be surprised about the success of your “10 Things You SHOULD Tell Writers” post 🙂 It is amazing, my favorite blog post in a long time in whole bloggosphere.
105 books in four months is great. I read only 33 so far, but considering I re-read a lot this year (and those books were not counted into my GR challenge) I am content with my reading pace so far (I am 7 books ahead of my schedule).
And May is going to be awesome month for YA fantasy/dystopia. So many great books will be released (5 to 1, End of Days, ACOTAR, Crimson Bound). I am so excited!
Looks like I had a lot ot say today 🙂 Have a great May, Cait!
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I am one of those who are not getting email replies to my comments on your blogs.
OMGGGGG?!! REALLY?!! *DIES OF INCREDIBLE HAPPINESS* Okay, so you just made my day completely, UM, SO YEAH. XDXD Rereading is great and I Wish I did more of it. I keep picking up Finnikin of the Rock (it’d be my 3rd reread!) and then thinking I need to read some of my ever toppling TBR…but who knows?! Maybe I’ll just read it this month anyway. XD
I got email notification with your reply for the first time! So whatever changes you did with settings, looks like it worked 🙂
FOR SOME REASON I CANNOT VOTE. But anyhow, I generally don’t receive reply notifications, but I did receive a random one the other day. Also, you absolutely MUST read Schwab. I have to admit I haven’t read Vicious and didn’t LOVE The Archived, but A Darker Shade of Magic was just phenomenal. So yes. READ IT.
Congratulations on your post going viral! It’s absolutely important to tell writers these things. Which is to say, tell ME these things. XD
I only realised, like, two days ago that I’d been mixing up the Queen of the Tearling and Graceling in my head, and because I’d read two pages of the former in a bookstore and didn’t like it, somehow wrote off the latter. Whoops! So I’ll be trying that, if not in May, then in my next book haul. Actually read my first contemporary yesterday, Simon Vs., and yeah, I’m just not made for fluff. It’s back to fantasy for me. 😀
I’m reading Vicious now and it. is. amazing. LIKE VILLAIN ORIGIN STORIES. *flails irrationally* Ohhh, well hopefully you’ll get a reply to this?! I’ve changed the way I’m answering comments since the other way was clearly killing the email replies, I’m just not sure if this WILL fix it or not. *gulps* WE SHALL SEE IN TIME.
Haha! I mixed up Shadow and Bone and Daughter of Smoke and Bone for AAAGES. Some titles are WAY too similar.
I don’t think I’ve gotten email replies to my comments recently, Cait. But then again, I’ve been completely out of it because work is consuming my life. BLAH!
Looks like you had a great month. I was happy to see I’m 50% complete with my reading goal for the year, according to GoodReads, which means I’m ahead because the year isn’t half over yet!
Terri M., the Director
Second Run Reviews
I’ve changed my comment settings and how I answer so HOPEFULLY the replies will be emailed?!! Out of my poll like 9 people get replies. -_- *growls at wordpress*
YES, library books always come in at one, and then it’s a scramble to read them all before they’re do. Clearly it’s an international librarian plot. I just got a big stack on Thursday. Of course I picked the gigantic fantasy to read first, which might not have been the best place to start. Especially since one of the others is The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B, based on your recommendation! The epic fantasy is actually an Australian author, Glenda Larke. Have you read anything from her? Terri from Reading By Starlight got me hooked.
Graceling: I liked it, but it was my least favorite of the trilogy. I really need to re-read it and see if my opinion improves, because I suspect that it might.
Vicious: If you like villains, you’ll LOVE Vicious. I’m excited that you’ll finally be reading Victoria Schwab! The Archived trilogy is one of my favorites.
Dreams of Gods etc.: Also probably my least favorite of the trilogy, although I did still love it. I’m satisfied with the ending, and I loved the secondary-ship moments.
ERGH YES. And it makes me try not to reserve too many…but then none come and I get worried I’d be without books (horror) so I reserve more and BOOM THIS HAPPENS. FASDKJALSDS That makes me so happy you’re reading The Unlikely Hero!! I so hope you like it. It totally took me by surprised and squeezed the feels out of me. I haven’t even heard of Glenda Larke and she’s Australian?! OMG HAVE I BEEN UNDER A ROCK?!! I shall go look.
I adore villains. I’m 100 pages into Vicious and. I. freaking. love. it.
UGH, just saw the typo in my first comment. *DUE*
YES, I somehow always end up requesting a million books at once, because I tell myself that they’ll all float in at different times, but nope, like you said, there will be weeks of nothing and then BAM, all the books. I’m also terrified of not having anything to read. I’m close enough to the library that I don’t have to pick them all up at once, so they have different due dates, but still.
I don’t think most people have heard of Glenda Larke. Despite her talent, she’s very much under the radar. I started the Isles of Glory trilogy and loved it, and I’m currently reading the Watergivers trilogy. I think you’ll like them, because her narrators are all complex characters, rather than “perfect” heroes.
YAY, VICIOUS.
7000 pageviews in a day is so awesome, Cait! You deserve it though, because your posts are all so lively hahaha. I’m glad that you’re finally a fan of Riordan! <33 I grew up reading his books and I can't believe that Heroes of Olympus ended last year! I still remember the wait of agony… I have to say that The Lost Hero is actually my least favorite installment, but hey, the rest of the series are AMAAAAZING. Especially The Mark of Athena <3 You're in for a ride! ^^ On a side note, I'm jealous at the amount of books you read. Wow, they're so many! I didn't read anything last month lol… But I've read like 2 books these past 2 days and HOPEFULLY this is a *brand* new start…
*commences flailing like penguin* OMG THANK YOU. This is literally the best to hear because sometimes I wonder if I’m just weird instead of actually interesting. xDXD Riordan is like my new favourite. The Lost Hero was soooo good I’ve already reserved Son of Neptune! So if they keep getting better than I’m going to be in HEAVEN. (Or, um, Olympus?!! lol)
I would recommend “Vicious” next. Happy reading!
Tsuki’s STS
I’m 100 pages in and LOVING IT.
OH MY GOODNESS CONGRATS! 7000 views is crazy awesome! 😀
The Lost Hero is a great book 🙂
My April was pretty eventful considering it’s the month I decided to come back to blogging!
I read, Anyone? By Angela Scott and, whoa. It was crazy!
I’m currently trying to plow through To Kill a Mockingbird which I like so far! It’s just taking me a while. I’m not letting myself read anymore books till I finish it so yay motivation!
I also bought like, 10 great looking books at thrift stores for less than $5! I’m super excited about them! 🙂
So much awesome that you’re back into blogging!! It’s been years since I read TKAM but I remember adoring it. Pfft, of course I did, I named my dog Atticus. xD
This April…was cool. It was frenzied, slightly, but I’ve done a lot of thinking and pondering and now I’m ready to do stuff. Embrace workaholic mode!
Congrats on 7000 views…and reading 100 books already! Whoo! You are totally storming through all these books y’know!
Epic Fantasy is really cool and I’m looking forward to the new alien read coming out (lately I’ve been getting a craving for escapism). MAN I NEED TO READ BOOKS. Gah.
These days have been busy, busy, busy and although I’ve been reading I haven’t read physical copies of books in AGES. It’s hurting my heart. 🙁
And wow Aussie publishers are so cool… (chocolate! Are you kidding me?!). To be honest I don’t have all that much experience with UK publishers but I’ll get there someday (and then I’ll get some choccies too! Mwuhaha).
That’s the spirit! YAY WORKAHOLIC. Haaaa…okay, maybe not. I tend to stress myself out on workaholic mode, but it still is fun sometimes. 😉
Aussie publishers are just the best in the world. Come now. They buy our favour with chocolate AND IT WORKS.
Wow! I can’t believe that you’ve read 100 books already this year! That’s insane…but awesome, a very good combination. Congrats! Also, congrats on the 7000 page-views! What an amazing blogger feat.
Your twitter conversation had me laughing. Those types of interactions are the reason why I grew to love Twitter so much:)
Now for the real reason I wanted to comment: YOU HAVEN’T READ GRACELING BEFORE NOW?!!! GIOSHGJKLIOEGHO Ahem.
It is so good, one of my favourites. Fire follows different characters and normally I’d be really mad about this, but it’s also so great. Can’t wait to see your review!
The most awesome and fabulous people hang out on twitter. IT IS LIFE. (Particularly when publishers just jump in on conversations…omg, how are they so awesome?!)
WELL. I HAVE NOW OFFICIALLY READ GRACELING AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Po! KATSA! I SHiP IT.
I wish I could show my appreciation for your posts without commenting! I have nothing to say. Well done on the viral post. I did send it to my boyfriend in the end.
Aw, well, I appreciate the comment anyway, Alex! THANKS.
Dreams of Gods & Monsters was really good… a great wrap-up to the series! I hope you enjoy it.
I totally forgot to do my monthly wrap-up post. Well, it’s not like I have much to summarize. Heh. I’m not really behind on any of my reading goals, but they weren’t that ambitious to begin with. I’m on track for my challenges, so that’s all I really care about.
I really really really hope I do too!! I want to finish up with loads of feels for Taylor’s books. xD Her writing is sooo gorgeous. Being on track for challenges is good! I’m not as ambitious towards the Fairy Tale challenge as I thought I might be…my bad. >_<
Damn girl, it looks like you had an awesome April! Loved your 10 Things post btw! 🙂
Hopefully May will be as awesome for you!
I DID have a terrific April. ALL THE THINGS HAPPENED AND IT WAS GOOD.
So much fabulous in one post! Your instagram images are SO BEAUTIFUL! I’ve been slacking lately and I so want to get back into it because I miss it so much, you know? THANK YOU FOR LINKING US. So many new designs this week wasn’t there, so much fabulous too! ALL THE PRETTAY. Dear Killer is a book that’s interested me too, I’m just so unsure, and Novice and Me Being Me are books I have that excite me. DID YOU LIKE THE LISTS?! Skulduggery, oh how I miss him, if I could reread a series, it’d be that one, are you still in love? Such a good month and week, and well done for going viral! GREAT NEWS! Have a fab week and upcoming month!<3
AHHH THANK YOU. I AM SO PLEASED. I really love instagram and I hope (?!) my photos are getting better. Someday I’m going to get my sister to show me how to use manual. -_- Someday…
I actually heard lots of bad things about Dear Killer, but MEH. It’s written by a teen and I love the premise so I’m going for it! ^-^ I LOVED THE LISTS BUT…the rest of Me Being Me is kind of…boring? Eh. Maybe it’s just because I’m not the world’s most forgiving contemporary reader. XD
I’m still 1000% in love with Skulduggery TO BE SURE. I’m putting it off because paaain, though. x)
OMG I loved reading the conversation you had with Harper. Absolutely hilarious. Even though it makes me sad because it reminds me that American publishers would probably never send bloggers chocolate or engage in such epic Twitter conversations with bloggers. *sighs*
And I am so proud of you for reading The Lost Hero *Pats Cait on back* I already commented on your review on GR, but you know what a huge
PercabethPercy Jackson fangirl I am, so I’m glad you’re slowly being converted. 😉And I am so curious to see what you think about Dreams of Gods & Monsters, especially considering how you felt about the first two books. (I still haven’t read the 2nd book… *facepalms*)
Love you Cait, and thanks for another fabulous Weekly Fury! ♥ (BTW did your library end up having Found? *crosses fingers* I hope the library gods blessed you with that one because you’re going to love it. xD)
Reason #58903 why Australia is more awesome. I’M JUST SAYIN’ IT LIKE IT IS. 😉
I am being converted! YOU SHOULD BE PLEASED. I’m turning into a right little Riordan fangirl. xD I’ve already reserved the Son of Neptune from the library!! SO EXCITED.
Nooooo, it didn’t have Found. IT HATES ME. Well. I half hates me. It half loves me because VICIOUS. but yes. Sadness.
I’ve loved your reviews this month, Cait! I’m glad that your post went viral!
AHHHH THANK YOU!!! I really like writing reviews so I’m glad they’re interesting. X)
Cait, HOW DO YOU READ SO FAST?! I’m busy slaving away in school while you get to read all the books. Gah, like is so not fair… Anyway, that cover for Passenger is absolutely stunning. Like, seriously, I need it now. Graceling is an awesome book! By the way, what did you think of Stolen Songbird? I, for one, loved it.
I don’t know! I just read….fast! Although I’ve slacked off this month already and only read like 2 books and it’s the 4th tomorrow. hehe. I thought the premise was GREAT for Stolen Songbird, and I loved the Prince, I just wasn’t so fond of the narrator… MY BAD. XD
Rock on with the reading this month and this year! You are awesome! I am totally going to check out your writer’s post right now – one more page view coming right up!
Missie @ A Flurry of Ponderings
omg, THANK YOU. XD
Congrats on going viral! Though I must say, I’m not surprised.
And Dreams of Gods and Monsters was amazing. I was so sad that the series was over.
I also read the entire series in a day. I MAAAYBEE should have stretched it out more.
WHAT?!! ONE DAY? YOU MEAN TO TELL ME YOU READ 3 BOOKS OF 400+ PAGES EACH IN ONE DAY?!!!
Yes?
Took me about seven or so hours, but yes.
Yeah, I’m just gonna bow to you now. I feel accomplished when I read ONE…just ONE…600-page book the other day. XD
Cait, you are my goals. Literally. I get 7k pageviews in two months, not one day. OMG. Like, teach me your ways, please. i’m at a loss right now.
I love how you have infographics and charts for me to read. As an analyst-type person, it’s totally helpful! I heard horrible things about the 100 book and that i should just stick to the show. Yep, definitely doing that. And Half Wild? I didn’t like Half Bad, actually. it felt really boring to me so if this one’s better, I’m going to read it!
I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT I DID. Seriously, whyyyy that post?!! I didn’t think it was particularly brilliant. Actually, funny story…I was writing it to be a motivational post and then whining to my sister that it was sounding sucky and she’s like, “Obviously you need to make it funny.” SO I DID. AND THIS HAPPENED. (Does this mean I have to credit my sister? Dangit. xD)
Charts are my LIFE. I like visuals. I’m such a visual person. xD *whispers* I doubt you’d have better like with Half Wild. Sorry. hehe. But, yeah, if you didn’t like Half Bad, probably no point?
Wow, where to begin! What a month! First, thank you for linking to my post! Seriously, what IS that!? I tried to add Between the Lives, since I loved One Past Midnight, only to find out it WAS One Past Midnight! I call shenanigans!
And WHOA. 7,000 views in ONE DAY!? I got close to that one MONTH! To be fair though, it was a pretty fabulous post, so it is a good thing people saw it- because now, they will have NO EXCUSES when talking to writers!
I am getting email notifications now. I hadn’t been for a few weeks, but about 2 weeks ago I started getting them again, which is happy-making. You MUST read The Rest of Us Just Live Here because I want to read it, and I am going to live vicariously. Also, 105 books in 4 months!? My goal all YEAR is 115! Goodness, woman! BUT, I am ahead of my goal! I have read 49, but will have 50 done by tonight. I think that isn’t bad, considering the small humans I have hindering me 😉
I haven’t read your review for The 100 yet! Is it on Goodreads? (I will go look!) YAY it is, I have found it! I shall read it when we are done here. I still want to read it. Maybe even more, so I can snark a little. I miss snarking. As for this casting. Jace isn’t terrible. Isabelle I kind of like! Simon… NO. Please let that be a joke. That guy looks ridiculous. Maybe they will give him a makeover (a Simonover?) before they film.
We really ought to protest this. It is MEAN of publishers to confuse us like this. *stamps foot*
Awwww, you too NICE. ^-^ I was freakishly excited about it. And I don’t actually remember to check my stats that often, but I went in to…ya know…get my daily boost of “Ooh look I don’t suck so bad at blogging” AND THEN I SAW THE 7K AND DIED. XDXD
AHHHH!!! YAYA. Maybe I’m doing something right?! I’ve started answering comments actually through my WP dashboard. :O I was answering them via email before (but I also had Intense Debate still turned on despite not using it for some reason…omg, I don’t even know. It’s messed up around here). SO. Hopefully you keep getting the notifications. *gulps* I shall ask again next week if this is working still. >_< SIMON MAKES ME CRY. Actually the cast makes me cry in general because I really really really liked the movie cast. I'm pretty extra sure they can't beat Jamie Campbell Bower and the-girl-who-played-Clary-whose-name-escapes-me-this-second. But, hopefully, they'll get a decent Alec who isn't like 30 years old. -_-
Well, MY April basically consisted of me turning from a small child into a FULL GROWN UP GROWN UP!!! Yes, I turned 18 on the 21st!!!! ^_^ And now I can drive a car by myself because I also got my license *nods* *small dance*
I HAVE BEEN WAITING 6 YEARS WITH YOU MY DEAR FRIEND!!! I REMEMBER WHEN BALLAD CAME OUT AND I WAS SO EXCITED AND THEN I WAS LIKE, ummm okay so she finished the Shiver trilogy and now…uhh The Scorpio Races, oh huh cool, well I guess 1 year isn’t bad….and then oh right The Raven Cycle..umm well…okay this cannot keep happening WHERE IS REQUIEM!?!?!?!? (And will it even still be called Requiem?) And then The Raven Cycle is finishing up and do we hear news of Requiem? NO! Instead a psychological thriller, illustrated a MG book and another adult book which I am guessing is about lesbian drag races….BUT STILL NO REQUIEM??? I think we’ll be waiting until 2020 at this rate… -_-
anyway rant over!
I do love your cover colour scheme matchy matchies going on!!! also my brain must be in sync with your brain because I AM LOVING EPIC FANTASY AT THE MOMENT TOO!!!! You probably can tell I’m loving the Throne of Glass series… 😀
Congrats on your viral post and I am still in awe of HOW YOU CAN READ SO MANY BOOKS!!!! (meanwhile I’m still finishing up my 9th book of the year…I think 20 was a good aim for me) XD
Thanks for sharing Cait!!! xoxo
OMG CONGRAAAAATS!!! *showers you with birthday cake and confetti* My sister turned 17 so, um, wow. She’s getting old too. (We shall not talk about how ancient I am.)
WE CAN BE IN SO MUCH AGONY OVER REQUIEM TOGETHER, THEN. COMPANIONSHIP OF PAIN. **cries because it doesn’t even have a proposed release date** Sometimes I guess I doubt she’ll actually finish it? It’s been so long. :'(
YAY FOR OUR SIMULTANEOUS EPIC FANTASY KICK. What else have you been reading?! Any recs?!! (Throne of Glass is the TOP of the art in epic fantasy, imho.)
Wow, Cait! 7,000 views in 24 hours, that’s amazing!!! Congrats! As always, I bow down to the amount you can read in a month. Well done you!
eeep! Thanks, Chrissi!! ^-^
WOOHOOO YOU GO GAL!!!!!
105 BOOKSSS?!?!?!!?!!?!!! LOL here I am with my 26 HAHAHAHAAHA It’s been a busy year LOL
VICIOUSSSSS I ALWAYS AND FOREVER WILL VOTE SCHWAB. She’s fab.
And urgh, yessss I’m crying over Raven King push back. Damn, that was a bummer piece of news this week. URGH I DON’T WANT TO WAIT EVEN LONGER FOR THE INEVITABLE GANSEY DEATH /cries
VICIOUS WAS INCREDIBLE. I JUST FINISHED IT AND AM IN AWE AND WANT TO READ ALL THE SCHAWB BOOKS RIGHT NOW. ASAP. GIVE THEM TO ME. *eats the library*
I saw a literary agency I follow on twitter reblogging your 10 Things You SHOULD Tell Writers post! 😀 😀
Also, you’ve already read 105 books?!?! HOW WHAT OMG GOOD FOR YOU! I feel like such a slacker with my measly 18, and yet I feel like I read all the time! *sweats* *dives for a book and flips pages frantically*
ERMAGERSH. DO YOU REMEMBER WHO IT WAS? I NEED TO KNOW. AFAJSDKLFADS I JUST NEED TO DIE HAPPY RIGHT NOW.
Yeah, P.S. Literary! https://twitter.com/psliterary
aHHHH THANK YOU FOR THAT LINK.
I did get the email notification, Cait, but now I can’t find my original comment and your reply on the page. But I did get a notification that you replied!!
Terri M., the Director
Second Run Reviews
AHHH YAY IT WORKS! IT WORKS!!! (Thanks for letting me know, too, because YESSSS. That is so helpful and you are clearly the best. xD)
I was not previously getting email notifications when you replied to comments, but now I am! Huzzah!
AFJDLKAFSD IT WORKS! IT WORKS!!!! I’M SO PLEASED. ^-^ (Also thanks for letting me know, because that is so hugely helpful!)
I haven’t read any of these books. I did however read 15 other books. Stardust was my favorite of them all 😀 It’s magical. I’m ahead on my Goodreads challenge but behind on reviews and movie adaptations. I can’t wait to see how they’ll pull off The Selection dresses. Happy reading Cait! And congrats on going viral 😀
I WANT TO READ STARDUST SO BAD! I nearly bought it the other day, but accidentally bought Skulduggery Pleasant books instead. XD I can’t complain tho, I love Derek Landy’s work so so much heeh.
First off, you’re amazing, and your reading skills amaze me. Like, I am literally crawling behind you in a cloud of dust. Also, THAT COVER for Passenger is gorgeous, and I am officially in love. And I hated The 100 as well. It was just not very good at all.
-Monica @ Tomes Project
*offers you dusty cake* PFFT. YOU ARE FABULOUS TOO, MY FRIEND. We can loathe The 100 in mutual loathyness. (That’s totally a word, yes?)
Reading machine;) Give us your secrets!!! I’m beyond excited for Shadowhunters!!!! Truthwitch is so pretty! I’m not sure about the Selection movie. It’ll be cute that’s for sure.
I AM BEYOND EXCITED THAT WE’LL GET ACTUALLY A LONG TIME IN SHADOWHUNGER WORLD. *flails irrationally* All the plot details! All the characters! YAY that they’ll include them. :’) Well, I mean, I hope they’ll include them…heh. I JUST FINISHED VICIOUS AND AM IN AWE.
Also VICIOUS IS SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much TV/movie excitement going on! My friend and I have been texting each other in all caps in anticipation of the “Shadowhunters” TV show. I’m. so. excited. Isabelle is perfect!! Simon . . . eh, not so much. I’ve never seen Dominic Sherwood in anything, but I’m hoping the good things I’ve heard about him are true. Jamie Campbell Bower was never quite right for me. 😛 He was close, but he wasn’t there.
ANDANDAND DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN THAT’S GOING ON FOR THE SUPERNATURAL SPINOFF SERIES FEATURING JODY MILLS AND DONNA AND ALEX AND CLAIRE?!?! The fans are trying to get it to happen. They’ve called it “Wayward Daughters” and it basically sounds like glittered epicness I want to throw on all my friends. I’ve signed the petition and am going to send letters today. This needs to happen.
Here are some links about it if you’re interested: http://thegeekiary.com/wayward-daughters-is-the-supernatural-spin-off-we-need/24073

Have you read all the books?! I LOVE THE BOOKS MORE THAN I CAN SAY. But I’m a little sad, because I loved the movie so. so. so much. The casting there was perfect. (Except for Alec looking like a 30 year old dude. What even was that.)
NO I DID NOT HEAR ABOUT THAT. BUT DUUUUUUDE, WHAT EVEN?!! I WANT IT. I WANT IT BADLY. IF SHE TURNS THEM INTO HUNTERS I’M GONNA DIE HAPPY. I was so freaking happy when they sent Claire to Jodie’s. :’)
Wow you did have a crazy month lol. I cannot read that fast. I’ve finished only two books last month. ^ ^= Also so jealous about those page views! How do you do it?! lol. XD I’ve only recently started consistently getting about 50 views a day. Keep up the good writing!
storitorigrace.blogspot.com
Aw, thanks, Victoria! I blog a LOT and I’ve been blogging over 4 years, so I guess it’s just a build up of writing and getting out there?! BUT SERIOUSLY I DON’T KNOW WHY THAT POST IN PARTICULAR EXPLODED. I DIDN’T EVEN THINK IT WAS THAT AMAZING, LOL.
1) You’ve read 105 books. !!! Lawd, Cait, you’re a machine. 2) GRACELING!!!! One of my favorite books ever. 3) Giraffes rule. 4) ZOMG chocolate. Yum. That’s amazing that you got sent CHOCOLATE!! 5) I can’t wait for Alexandra Bracken’s new book. That cover is day-um pretty. 6) I still can’t believe you’ve read 105 books. That’s my entire goal for 2015. Don’t make me feel inferior! ;D
GRACELING WAS BRILLIANT. I was so in love with that book, and omg, how did it take me so long to even pick it up?! Giraffes are totally understated in their awesomeness. YOU ARE NOT INFERIOR, I PROMISE. I’m just a) fast, and b) I read a lot of small-ish books? I THINK. Darnit, I don’t even remember…it’s been an intense reading year. xD
Why does so much happen in so little time on your blog? 100 books? So many things happening all the time? How the HECK do you manage that? And then you’re writing novels just by the way (I have not forgotten your NaNoWriWe last year), you must have 30 hour day, don’t you? It just seems so crazy.
Well, I got the replies before, but I think I haven’t received any replies since early April I think. >.<
Because I am SPEEDY in all things. *nods* HAha, yes NaNo last year was intense. 😉 But, to be honest, I haven’t written any first drafts this year and it’s already May. 0-0 So I am a little…slow on that this year.
105, show off 😉 Haha, just kidding, you are a reading machine girl! Graceling is good. I snatched The rest of us just live here from Edelweiss and I’m really curious. Those two cover reveals are pretty 🙂
Happy May!
The cover reveals are just GORGEOUS. I don’t think I even read the blurb before I added them. xD Buuut, I do already love these two authors. ^-^
WOW YOUR POST WENT VIRAL, THAT’S AWESOME AND YAAAAY *Throws chocolate and sprinkles and stuff*
I really like Riordan, but I think the second series is better because the kids are older, and the Romans are a bit more serious,. BUT SON OF NEPTUNE IS JUST LIKE WOW PERCY SO ATTRACTIVE OMG.
comments on the search results cracked me up.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I CAN’T HAVE THE RAVEN KING PUSHED BACK, WHAT NO NO NO NO NOPE NOPENOPENOPENOPE. *cries ALL the tears*
G’aaaawww you mentioned me. *kicks pebble because flattered* *dances all the places*
Wow your twitter is hilarious.
ANYWAY I MUST GO BAI.
You have had such a great month! Woo-hoo for your post going viral!! Of course you know that I bought Alice And The Fly solely because of your review. I have read it already and LOVED IT!!! It was so incredibly, amazingly good.
I occasionally get email replies, but I only get around to commenting on about half of the posts I read, so…doing that math makes my head hurt. So I didn’t vote on the poll!
Congrats on going viral! And I love that Walker sent you chocolate…now that’s how you show blogger appreciation 🙂
Ugh, I suffered a spate of one and two star ratings as of late, too. I think mine was because I have been cleaning up my Edelweiss and Netgalley shelves from a lot of read nows and download nows. Congratulations on your viral post! I haven’t read it yet, but it is my next stop. I finally got Egg and Spoon from the library. It will be my first book towards the Fairytale Challenge. Ha! I have already topped my 52 book goal for Goodreads, so I will be upping that to 104, I think. The Raven King pushed back (one thousand and one frowny faces). I was going to wait and binge read the last three books when it came out, and then review the series as a whole. Now I might read them one at a time because I don’t want to wait.
