Peoples! I’m actually reading series. If you’ve been following my blathering blog adventures for a while (I do so like you best) you’ll know I’m HORRENDOUS at finishing series. But now?! I’m on fire, humanoids! I’m up to my elbows in Rick Riordan, I’ve read two Cassandra Clare’s in a week, and I’m onto my second George RR Martin book! SO HUZZAH FOR THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Life is short. One must celebrate oneself copiously and often, okay?
OH! And before we dive in, don’t forget to enter my giveaway (AUS only) for Fish Out of Water by Natalie Whipple!
And I have a small request for you…but more on that later! LET’S GET TO THE BOOKS!
Um, yes, there’s a lot but a) this is 2 weeks worth of books, and b) I’ve actually read most of them already oops and c) AREN’T THEY PRETTY? It’s also very wet outside so my apologise to Finding Audrey for its soggy suffering for sake of the others.
- FERALS: Thanks HarperCollins! I’ve read it now and it was kinda cute…lots of animals, friendship, and unwashed little boys. What?! It’s the truth. They were all homeless and never ever bathed.
- CHERRY BLOSSOM DREAMS: Thank you Bloomsbury! This was a…surprise. A suffocatingly pink surprise. I shall have to gather the courage for this one. I’m allergic to pink.
- BOMB: Thank you Hachette! Another surprise book. I was kind of wary for Sarah Rossi after Riot ruptured my braincells. I read it. It ruptured another braincell.
- LULLABY: Thank you Text Publishing! ANOTHER SURPRISE. Seriously, it’s like Christmas around here.
- THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS: Library saaaale. Only $0.50. And yes I’ve already read it and cried, but one likes to actually own these tearful books.
- THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US: This will be my first Kasie West! Excited? I AM EXCITED.
- CHALLENGER DEEP: Neal AFJDKSAF Shusterman. Thank you HarperCollins! Getting this is my dream and I love you and I think we ought to marry.
- THE CEMETREY BOYS: Libraried. This was…suffocatingly boring and not at all scary. I quit wanted to slap the protagonist which isn’t a good sign.
- THE MARK OF ATHENA (#3): Libraried. I’M SO EXCITED. Please let there be more Annabeth in this one. Pleaspleaseplease.
- CRESCENDO (#2): I didn’t actually hate Hush, Hush. Yes, I too am surprised. I found it for $0.50, so why not? The darn library sticker won’t come off though.
- CLOCKWORK ANGEL: Libraried. This book = super fantastic.
- CLOCKWORK PRINCE (#2): BUT THIS ONE WAS EVEN BETTER. SOMEONE HOLD ME. Or hold Will. Basically just hold Will, the poor little darling.
- FINDING AUDREY: Another surprise (thanks Random House!) but it’s terrifying me, to be honest. It’s about anxiety, which is a little close to home for me. Plus the backcover promises to fix all Audrey’s anxious problems with a boyfriend, which is not a good message. So…we’ll see. (Let me know if you’ve read this one.)
So many books, peoples.
HELP ME DECIDE WHAT TO READ NEXT!!
[yop_poll id=”1″]
- SUNDAY: I list 10 horrific dangers that you risk while being a bookworm. The treepocolypse, peoples, it’s real.
- MONDAY: I review Me Being Me Is As Exactly As Insane As You Being You which is both exhausting and disappointing.
- THURSDAY: I threw a lot of gifs together and declared it a “review” of A Game of Thrones. We can pretend it’s intelligent, right?
- SATURDAY: I list 10 problems of being an adult reading YA. Gee, when did I get old?
Click on see Goodreads reviews!
- THE FINAL EMPIRE (MISBORN 1): I tackled this beast of an adult fantasy AND I WON. I loved it. ★★★★
- BOMB: Like I said earlier…no. It was completely illogical. The police were shooting at the girl strapped to a bomb. I mean. Who does that?! ★★
- LULLABY: It gets the award for worst. cover. ever. Also weirdest book ever. ★★★
- BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA: I have read this before. But what can I say? I wanted to cry again. ★★★★★
- FERALS: Cute, but rather pale compared to Bridge to Terabithia, ain’t it? ★★★
- DEADPOOL: ORIGINAL SIN VOL 6: My first Deadpool comic! Also my last because my library doesn’t have anymore but this was so freaking funny. ★★★★
- THE CATALYST: I was seriously surprised with how much I liked this! It’s about angels. Also written by a 15-year-old. Which is, like, wow. ★★★★

I’ve been rather slack about collecting interesting posts, so this week’s pickings are lean. Stuff has happened! I’ve just been…lost in Mistborn I guess.
- They’ve officially casted Magnus Bane and Valentine for the new TV series Shadowhunters. I’m so very pleased with, like, this WHOLE cast. Except for Jace.
- Agent Carter is renewed for Season 2! THIS IS GLORIOUS NEWS.
- The Little Prince trailer looks, um, incredible.
- Derek Landy’s new book Demon Road has a cover! It’s a bit…I don’t even know. It’s not what I expected. I think I like it?
- Oh and this is what it’s like to buddy read with me:
I run a little etsy store making origami mobiles and mini book necklaces and if you buy from me, I like you best. ALSO, I’m starting up a monthly newsletter (which you should subscribe to). For news of sales, giveaways, discounts, etc. You know the drill. Basically it’ll be epic because I’m involved.
\\ click on the pictures to go to my etsy //
SO. I have several interesting things to throw in your face. But I will throw them nicely because I have manners. Ready?
1. Attention bookish etsy store owners! Does anyone sell bookish-themed items and would like to trade some advertising on my blog for sponsoring a giveaway? If you’d like more info email me. I can give you my blog stats and tell you my nefarious plans.
2. ALSO! I’m tentatively planning to write again! I’ve had a woeful year this far for writing, but I’ve got this little gem of an middle-grade book basically about magic and crickets and copious amounts of cereal. Do you want to hear more? OF COURSE YOU DO. Look out for my post this week! Or next week. I don’t know, folks, I’m a free spirit.
3. Whilst burning braincells for something interesting to do for my upcoming blogversary…I thought, why not answer questions?! Do you have any questions for me? ANY AT ALL? Because now is your chance! They can be about blogging or writing or queries or my favourite ice cream flavour or how to be fabulous (although not sure I’ll share my secrets). So, you can throw your questions in the comments below OR you can submit them via this google form. I’ll answer the best questions AND leave a link to your blog, which, I won’t lie, is stupendous. So don’t be shy! TALK TO ME.
Gah all the books! I have The Distance Between Us and it will be my first Kasie West as well. I am looking forward to Finding Audrey. Your Etsy store is adorbs! I used to be all about series and HAD to finish them. Now – aint got time for that. If it is a good series I will probably stick with it but I have now chosen not read the never ending series. I don’t need past like 4 or 5 books.
Omg, thank you! x) I’m new to esty, but totally loving it! And Im the opposite to you for series! I used to avoid them like the plague and now I’m all over them. XD It’s killing me waiting for book to come out. Like Throne of Glass. Gosh, I might be here for another 4 years waiting for books. IT’S SO HARD.
Love the stack!!! YOU’RE READING THE INFERNAL DEVICE, ARGH!!!!
So glad that you’re reading it. Once you get to Clockwork Princess, you’ll just be over the moon!! My blogoversary is coming up as well! I’m also really stuck on what to do. Giveaway? party? a tag? eating? *sigh* I really should be more organised. Great week!
THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL YET SO PAINFUL. *cries forever because Jem is painful and Will is an adorable idiot* I’m trying to be organised for this blogversary…but, gah. Compared to all the stuff I did last year?! I’m woeful this year. >_<
Oh, wait until you read The Mark of Athena! Annabeth plays a big role (I hope that doesn’t count as a spoiler; Athena is in the title, after all). Poor Will, he and Jem are just my favourites, I hope you enjoy Clockwork Princess! 🙂
Haha! Well I’d already heard it and figured it SO YAY. I’ve been hanging out for more Annabeth!! I’m going to cry in Clockwork Princess, aren’t I? I have this bad feeling…
I’m still worry about the treepocalypse…I’m SURE my neighbour’s tree is closer to my house this week…
YOU ARE WISE. THE TREES ARE COMING. I need this on a tee shirt for sure.
That is a lot of info! I absolutely ADORE Kasie West’s books! I need to read her new book – desperately! Happy Reading! 🙂
YAY! I’m super keen for it!
YAY!!! 🙂 I’ve realised that there is one good thing about completely failing at blogging for the last month… I NOW HAVE SO MANY POSTS TO BINGE READ!!! 🙂 I’m very excited… so all caps was needed and necessary! So many pretty books! You’re braver and less OCD than me, my books wouldn’t be allowed to touch the wet floor :’) But that’s because I’m a lil crazy. I love completing series, but only ones that I love. I don’t feel a need to continue reading if I start to dislike the series.
ERMAGERD. BEST COMMENT EVER, CHARNELL. HOW ARE YOU SO FABULOUS. XXD Ahhh, yes, I did feel bad about that one book getting a bit wet, buuuut, to be honest, I’m scared to read about anxiety in case they get it wrong because it’s a subject that’s very huge in my life. Erk. >.> If it turns out to be incredible, I’ll whisper my apologise to it for getting wet hehe.
Just curious – is Cherry Blossom Dreams set in Japan?
Anyway, I’m just struggling to get over the fact that you don’t finish series because I’m one of those readers who has to resist the urge to mark sequel release dates on her calendar. There is NOTHING weird about that. Right now, I’m using the library to work my way through Gallagher Girls. I only started a couple of months ago and I just got book four out today. If Half Lost was out, I would’ve bought it already, same with the Raven King (it’s been pushed back to 2016, *sob*). I am a series nut who needs to read more stand-alones to better protect her budget.
A post about a new WIP? AWESOME! I love reading about other people’s WIPs…I’m so nosy…
I don’t know! I don’t think so?! It looks like a pink monstrosity to be honest, so I hope I’m not too pinked out. >_< I WANT HALF LOST LIKE I WANT AIR. NO. MORE THAN THAT. *cries because Nathan and Gabriel* And I'm not too sad about The Raven King, because I know it's going to be worth waiting for, but seriously...*grabby hands*
OMG Finding Audrey sounds awesome, but what if it’s a love-cures-all kind of book?? I voted for you to read it next, so you can be my guinea pig. 😀 And the Shadowhunters series, what even! I heard about it a while back and I’m ALL EXCITE, because the movie kinda sucked (especially the kiss in the green house – could they have chosen a more schmoopy soundtrack!?), and I think it could be a great show. I’m not too fond about who they cast as Jace, but seriously I can’t imagine someone worse than the one they cast for the movie (nothing against the guy, he just REALLY didn’t fit my image of Jace), so we’ll see. I did like the actor as Christian in Vampire Academy, so who knows – maybe he has some hidden talents we don’t know yet. 😀 I don’t think I know any of the other actors, but I’m hoping for the best! As long as Isabelle is badass, I don’t even care.
I read (or listened to, I guess) We All Looked Up this week and there was A LOT of teen angst, but I still liked it, so it must be a good book! Finishing series kind of is the bane of my existence right now, because I started so many series I feel meh about. I don’t reaaaally plan to read the next books, but it also bothers me immensely NOT to finish a series, sooo… If I like the books, I don’t usually have a problem with finishing series though!
Ummm… questions, questions. HOW DO YOU READ SO MUCH? Seriously, I can’t even comprehend the amount of books you read in a single week. I don’t understand speed reading – do you skim or are you just a lot faster? Do you still retain all the information? I DON’T UNDERSTAND. 😀
Whyyyyy do I have to be the guinea pig?! **sobs** I’m totally afraid of that book, I am. I don’t want to give it a bad review, but I’m SO NERVOUS about books that hit close to home for me. ERGH. Anyway. I’m a big fan of the CoB movie soooo I shall agree to disagree with that one CAUSE I’M SUPER NICE LIKE THAT. *melts because Jamie Campbell Bower tho* The new actor for Isabelle LOOKS badass! And I’m 1000% happy that they cast someone for Alec who doesn’t look 30 years old. The movie failed spectacularly there. -_- It butchered Alec. And I love Alec.
I’ve heard sooo much about We All Looked Up! IT SOUNDS SO INCREDIBLE!
*adds question to list* And, well, I’ll sneakily answer that sometimes yes I do skim if I find the book boring. BUT YEAH I JUST READ FAST, OKAY. XD
Ooh! Monthly newsletters! I must subscribe. I’ve been meaning to order one of your bookish necklaces for so long. Also, that Epic Reads video – I thought of you the moment I saw it! Too true.
Can’t wait to ask some questions!! I remember your tea party last year, when I first discovered your blog. 😉
Someone sent it to me and I was like, “OMG YES THIS IS ME. YOU KNOW ME TOO WELL.” XDXD I’m not a very good buddy read partner. >.> Omg, so you’ve been reading for a year?! WOW. I’m so honoured! ^-^ This year’s celebrations won’t be half so interesting, unfortunately. Gah. But I’ll do something big when I turn 5. 😉
First, excuse me while I go SQUEAL OVER AGENT CARTER SEASON TTTWWWOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
*ahem* today you’re the fairy godmother of good news, Cait. Much appreciated.
And as for a question…. *rubs hands thoughtfully*
Okay so we’re gonna go all Marvel today… What did you think of Age of Ultron? (If you saw it, that is)
YUUUUUS. LET US SQUEAL TOGETHER. BECAUSE AGENT CARTER IS MY SUPERHERO. SHE IS. SHE’S AMAZING AND FABULOUS. And can totally take out a dude with a stapler, and that’s just commendable. *ahem* SO YES.
Omg, I haven’t seen Age of Ultron yet. *cries copiously* I’m going to wait until it’s out on DVD because cinemas make me nervous. >.> I knoooow I’m weird.
Now that is a glorious stack of books. I am so glad you enjoyed Mistborn. I haven’t actually read any of Brandon Sanderson’s books, but I’ve heard their brilliant, and I must read them. They seem pretty dense (especially when it comes to the Stormlight Archives), but a good kind of dense. Bridge to Terabithia is one of my childhood favorites. It’s so short, but it packs a punch in such few words. And gosh, it breaks my heart. *sniffs* Yay for your upcoming blogoversary. I found your blog last year, and I think it was around the time of your blogoversary, so that means I’ve been following you for a little bit over a year now. Wow.
They are totally dense and intense and I’d much rather tackle them on audio, but my library isn’t helpful in that respect. Erk. It was GOOD, but yeah, I’m not sure I’m continuing yet! And ohhh, I read Bridge to Terabitha mostly for research since I’m writing an MG book, hehe, AND I TOTALLY TEARED UP. How is it possible to write so powerfully in just 33K?! Ultimate dream. Ooh, you have put up with my ramblings for a year?! CAKE FOR YOU. XDXD Unfortunately my plannings aren’t going to be half so epic. **heavy sigh** Last year’s party was pretty dang delicious. xD
I am so glad that you enjoyed Mistborn! I “started” it weeks and weeks ago (OOPS) and just kind of put it back on my shelf. I was only like, 25 pages in, so I think I might pick it up next week!
-Monica @ Tomes Project
It’s intense right?! I was only like reading 50-pages max per day. 0-0 And then I read some easy MG books on the side, hehe. IT WAS SO BIG. ERK. I don’t know if I’m going to continue with the series though…
I have crammed lots of reading into my life this week. Rogue, Half Wild, The Body-Finder, The Program, Anna Dressed in Blood, and The Dead Boys. And like six different cookbooks.
I have gotten basically no sleep the past few nights because I’ve been staying up to finish my pile of books.
It was worth it.
Omg, you have done extremely well! (Did you like Half Bad? AJFDASKLFD I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS FOR HALF BAD.)
My question: How do you DO so much???? I’m lucky if I read one book and write one blog post a week and don’t get yelled at by my mom for not getting my work done! How do you do it? I NEED TO KNOW.
I HAVE SUPER POWERS, OF COURSE. *adds question to list* 😉
OMG YOU HAVE TO read The Mark of Athena! I swear, Rick Riordan write the cruelest cliffhanger ever. And yess I’m glad you love TID too! Hope you enjoy Clockwork Princess too since the epilogue is really sad.
The Distance Between Us is also my first Kasie West’s book, and it’s one of my favorite contemporary! It’s just really cute.
Anyway, happy reading! <33
AGH. Cruel cliffhanger?!! *backpedals* BUT WAIT DO I NEED THIS PAIN IN MY LIFE?? And I’ve already read the entnire Mortal Instruments series, so I do know some spoilers for TID’s ending. I still think I’m gonna cry though. JEM, MA BABY.
Hush, Hush turned out to be one of my favorite series, they’re what got me reading again after my high school years where I read a whooping five books or so. So I’d say get started on Crescendo ;P I haven’t read any of the others but have most of them on my TBR, can’t wait to see what you think about them!
Take care <3
I was a bit worried about the romance, becuase it seemed border-line abusive? BUT THEN. I figure Patch is actually the villain and should be kind of creepy. So I’m okay with it now. xD I need to know what happens next. Patch…omg, you delightful little evil muchkin.
You made the Divergent series necklace! Oh man. Also, random, but I’m so good at breaking necklaces. Luckiy I know how to fix them because I make jewelry. But I’ve broken the clasp on my Splintered necklace like two or three times XD I WANT ALL YOUR NECKLACES OKAY.
OMG. THAT’S NOT GOOD. It’s probably because I just get the actual necklaces off ebay and maybe I should search out better quality ones? Broken stuff sucks. WAH.
nuuuuu it’s my fault. I grab the neckline of my t-shirt to pull it away from my neck and grab the necklace too, so it yanks the link open at the clasp. I can fix it though XD
Amazing haul this week. I’ve read quite a few of those and loved them. I loved The Distance Between Us and I just got Challenger Deep myself last week. Enjoy!!
Shannon @ The Tale Temptress StS
Challenger Deep sounds soooo good. YET SAD.
Oooh, Infernal Devices! I’ve seen so much love for that series, and I can’t wait to read it but I’ve only read City of Bones from the Mortal Instruments series… and I think I need to read that series first? (Or have I got that the wrong way round, and I should be reading the Infernal Devices series first?? Arrgh, I have no clue!)
I’m so unpredictable with finishing series. If I love the first book, I’ll usually read at least the second book and see how things go from there. Then it also depends on the characters… if I love ‘em, I shall read ALL THE BOOKS! If I begin to feel a bit meh toward them, then I’ll skip. Honestly, I think it depends on my mood, too! Have a fab week 😀
Ohhh, to be honest, I think you could read the series in either order, BUT, I’d recommend The Infernal Devices (that’s the Clockwork trilogy) FIRST. The last The Mortal Instruments book has maaaassive spoilers for TID. Confusing right? So I actually know a lot of plot twists and it saddens me. ;(
You know, I have never read Bridge to Terabithia! I’m familiar with it; I think my sister had to read it for school when she was a kid. But it was one of those childhood classics that I sort of missed getting to. (Well, now I know the ending, so I’m not sure I want to read this one!)
I am absolutely terrible at finishing series. The number of series I’ve actually read is fewer than ten (I think). The number of series I’ve started… Hah! And while a lot of series I have no intention of finishing (because I didn’t like the first book), there are plenty more that I just haven’t gotten around to. I’m a series procrastinator.
IT IS SO SAD. Seriously, it gives me the chills. Every. single. time. I used to be a notorious series procrastinator! I DID. But I’m slowly actually getting more interested in finishing things. x)
Ooh, more Shadowhunters cast! Nice. I actually like Jace! But we’ll have to see them all in action.
My question is writing-related: How did you find the… will? courage? balls? to start talking about your writing in public? To put up blurbs and covers and descriptions of your (unfinished) novels? I’m quietly writing a book but I’ve told exactly one person about it but I feel like I should expand my tiny circle. But then most people I know don’t even know I blog…
Yesss, I can’t WAIT to see them in costume too. ^-^ OMG THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION. *writes it down*
OOOH, I like the bookish necklaces, unfortunately, the only money I have at this point is a dime which I am using to dig myself out of prison by slowly scraping away at the wall. I am tempted to stay, though, since the Wi-Fi here is great. 😛 And I know the feeling–even in the youngest grades in school, my fellow classmates hated me because I read at least three times as fast as them. I think you have me beat speedwise, though. 😛
So, for questions, well, I would love to know your favorite flavor of icecream, and I would love to know how you manage to be so fabulous, but I’m even more interesting in knowing what book you would save if the world were burning and you could only rescue one novel.
Speed reading is the best AND the worst. One can sit there and gloat about spoilers-they-will-not-name, but at the same time everyone hates us. HAHA. But yes. XD
Omg, those are good questions, but how dare you ask me what one book I would save. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO PICK? I’m pretty sure you said what BOOKSHELF would you save, didn’t you? I’m sure you did. I’ll answer that one.
I haven’t read any of the books on the stack YET but I keep on hearing good things about the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and now I really have to read it! Also, Ferals sounds like my kind of thing, I love books about animals. I’m reading a book called The Power of Intention at the moment, it’s brilliant! And I’m hopping over to your Sunday post after this to read about the dangers of being a bookworm because I’d like to know what I’m facing 🙂 Loved this post! x
♥.•*¨ AmandaSays ¨*•.♥
It’ll BREAK YOUR HEART, I absolutely promise. I never saw TBITSP movie, but omg, it looks equally ruining. Ooh, yes we’re all facing the Treepocolypse and possibly will die, but WE BOOKWORMS SHALL BAND TOGETHER IN STRENGTH.
your weekly recap was glorious! i cannot wait for you to read mark of athena and clockwork princess! (i’m sorry, but they will BREAK YOUR SOUL) also, the mistborn trilogy gets EVEN BETTER. although it also gets even bigger.. your instagram photos were beautiful, as usual. and i LOVEEEE the cast for magnus! *screams* i didn’t know you had an etsy shop, but i’ll definitely check it out now <33
Pfft, you are not even sorry. You are laughing evilly at me and my oncoming pain. I’M NOT READY FOR THIS. Jem is gonna die, I bet. And something horrific is going to happen in Athena because I HAVE HEARD OF THINGS. *dons book battle armour* ERk, I’m not sure if I’ll survive more Mistborn. Like I really really wish I had them on audio because then my life would be saved, haha.
I wanted to vote for The Distance Between Us, but then I thought it would be a nice fluffy book to read after Challenger Deep, which I expect will be quite heavy.
I’m actually quite good at finishing series! I’m significantly less good at remembering what actually happened in the previous books. Recaptains is my hero.
My reading this week consisted of depressing, depressing, depressing, and more depressing. I’m treating myself to Kasie West’s newest book this evening. 😀 (If anyone dies, I might have a meltdown.)
Ooh, question time! This is the perfect excuse to ask what I’ve been dying to know, and that is: your About Me says you’ve signed with an agent, but do you have any books that are available for the public (read: for ME) to read, or are they still in progress? I looooove your blog, but I WANT MORE. Picture me pouting and stamping my foot like a little kid. 😛
I just looked at your Etsy shop (meant to do that BEFORE commenting), and HOLY WOW YOU ARE SO TALENTED WHY DID YOU CLAIM TO HAVE NO ARTISTIC ABILITY? I don’t use PayPal, but if you ever add credit card, I may have to get a mobile for my friend’s upcoming baby. (I’m pretty sure “upcoming baby” is not the proper phrase. Thanks, brain.) Back to drooling over your art I go!
Challenger Deep looks like an emotional roller coaster for sure. *gulps* BUT I AM READY FOR THIS.
THAT IS A GOOD QUESTION. *notes it down* And aFjdskalfd to your nicest of nice words about my etsy store. SERIOUSLY, I’M JUST GONNA DIE WITH HAPPINESS OVER HERE. :’)
Wow I’m so jealous! Many books for you and they look good! happy reading!
*eats all the books*
Gah, I’m jealous! You have SO many books, while I’m not allowed to read any non-required readings until after exams, which is like three weeks away *cries* I’m generally really good at finishing series that I’m actually invested in. But if I think the first books is meh, then I probably won’t continue it.
Oh that is agony and torture. I FEEL FOR YOU, I DO. I used to be sooo slack with series but now I’m finding myself rather compulsive about it. Like I’m very far into Skulduggery Pleasant (up to book 7!) and I’m working through ALL of Rick Riordan’s books. Like I’ve read 7 of them this year ALONE. Woah, Cait, calm thineself.
I still need to read Clockwork Angel and I’ve had that book for at least two years! I really want to read something by Kasie West, especially her new book! It seems awesome!
DUDE, IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND SO WORTH IT. I’m not sure if I like this series or The Mortal Instruments more, tbh!
Distance Between Us was my first Kasie West book too and I simply adored it. The title is misleading though because there is no true distance only in social class. Wait until you read Clockwork Princess it is heart breaking as well. 🙂
Omg. No. Noooo I DON’T WANT THE PAIN. (haha who am I kidding? I absolutely want the pain). I know a lot of spoilers after reading City of Heavenly Fire, though, but still. PAIN.
Wow! what an awesome haul of books this week! I, too am pretty woeful at finishing series even the big ones that everyone is reading. I have read only the first book of The Infernal devices series and the Selection series. Oh an also the heroes of Olympus series (though in my defence I currently have books 2 & 3 out on loan from the library 😛 ). And don’t talk to me about the game of thrones series. I read the first 3 books about 10 years ago now I am stuck! I don’t remember enough of what happened to go forward but remember too much to have the patience to go through the first three books to get back on track 😛
i also voted for you to read the distance between us because hello! first Kasie West! I also currently have this book out on loan from the library in e-book form along a with a print copy of pivot point which will also be my first Kasie West 🙂
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and commenting on my stacking the shelves post. I followed your blog because I follow too few fellow Aussie bloggers. Turns out I was already following you on instagram LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading! 🙂
AGH. That is such a problem with series that take so long to come out, right?!! I mean, it’s not quite the same, but I’ve been reading Ranger’s Apprentice for like ten years, and remembering all the details over 12 books?! SO HARD. >_< But still worth it because they're intensely funny. hehe. I'M SO EXCITED FOR KASIE WEST. She's like this massively famous contemporary name amongst the bloggers and I want to know what all the fuss is about. ^-^ Ooh, we shall be Kasie Westing for the first time TOGETHER then!! ^-^ I know, right?! Where are all the Aussie bloggers?! HUZZAH FOR WE AUSSIES.
WOW. CAIT. SO MANY BOOKS!
YES! MARK OF ATHENA! You know how much I love those books Cait! 😉 I hope you end up liking it as much as I did! Although, I’m not even sure why I’m saying that because I know you will. 😉 (Make sure you have some tissues next to you though. The ending is heart-wrenching. Just a warning).
And gah…you know how much I absolutely suck at finishing series. The thing is I only continue a series if I absolutely loved the first book (like 4+ stars), which, erm…doesn’t happen quite often being the stickler I am. But I am getting better at it! xD
Oooh, I read Challenger Deep and finished on Friday. It was very good, very weird and very sad (if you stalk me on goodreads you will find my reveiw. I also read Storyspinner that was really well written though a little bland. I’m just started the Shadowhunter novellas . OH and I read Magonia (interesting ) and And Ember in the Ashes (sososososoozssooso ogood ten million happy stars) It seems like its been a good reading week for me (thought the library ban is still in effect) and I had two two hour exams next to each other on the same day, but now I only have a few projects and three hard exams left, and two weeks of school. Questions for you
-What is the biggest struggle you’ve had trying to be published? (or is it not over yet?)
-Do you ever write/read short stories?
-Do you spend too much time on the internet?
-Dresses, skirts or shorts?
-Which countries have you been to? Which countries do you wish to go to? If you could choose one fictional place to live, where would it be?
-Are you talkative in real life?
I’m terrible at completing series. Recently I’ve found I LOVE the 1st book and the 2nd is a flop and/or it’s too long since I first read the instalment to remember what’s going on. It’s rather tragic. I haven’t had success with a series since VA, which I read in 2012. This week I read Fault Line (loved) and Last Year’s Mistake (loathed might be a bit harsh, but I did not enjoy it. Way too dramatic, it made me question if I’m too old for YA’s set in high school.) And now I’m off to read your adult reading YA post!
The Distance Between Us is actually my second least favorite Kasie book. My favorite’s hands down Pivot Point. 😉 BUT THE MARK OF ATHENA IS SO BRILLIANT ASDFGHJKL. (Obvs I voted for that.) It’s my second favorite Heroes of Olympus book. House of Hades was just the best. 🙂
I have been LOVING your IG feed, Cait! I am also excited for your cereal book.
And happy almost blogoversary! My question: Would you survive a unicorn apocalypse? How or how not?
Sophie Kinsella? Is that *GASP* an adult book?…I just checked on Goodreads, and it’s not. For a moment there you had me worried, haha. Anyways, I read three of Kinsella’s Confessions of a Shopoholic books and ended up with a weird love/hate relationship with the main character Becky. She was so DUMB (any annoying), but still somewhat lovable? My experience with those books has definitely not got me anxious to read any of her other books. However, Finding Audrey might be different; the subject matter seems a bit more serious. Can’t wait to see your review!
That is a LOT OF BOOKS, WOAH. Yeah, I haven’t been reading at ALL lately, which is woeful. Gah. But hopefully in a few weeks everything will be more calm, haha 🙂
The Distance Between Us! I really enjoyed it,it’s my favourite by Kasie West! I hope you love Caymen, she’s awesome:)
I am so intrigued by Finding Audrey. Sophie Kinsella is my guilty pleasure, her books and heroines never cease to make me laugh, so I am pretty curious to see how she’s going to tackle something serious.
Haha, that video! So true:) That must be how my friends feel. Thank god,I found a speed reading buddy!:)
I am looking forward to see what you’ve planned for your blogoversary!
Wow! That is quite a stack of books! I actually really liked Crescendo! I have a soft spot for that series maybe only because I read it all so long ago now when my standards were maybe not so high, you know what I’m saying. I mean, I don’t know how it would hold up now, but it was fun at the time! 🙂
Ah, I totally know what you mean. XD I look back at my “favourite” books of a few years ago and feel like I wouldn’t be as impressed with them now. >.> Eep. I did like Patch even though Nora was a bit of a fainting damsel. 😉 Patch was freaky! AND INTERESTING.
Yes, yes, yes to the new The Little Prince movie! Ferals actually sounds interesting to me, so I am going to check it out. YOU MUST GET BACK TO YOUR WRITING! May I also ask what make and model camera you use for your photographs? Also, I will think of some outrageous questions to put on your questionnaire. Have a sublime week. 😀
YES I MUST. I’ve kind of missed throwing words onto the computer. XD So this week should be a fun beginning. *nods* Ohhh, I use a Nikon D60 (It’s my parents camera, I just steal it nicely a lot). YAY FOR OUTRAGEOUS QUESTIONS. So long as I can give even outrageouser (totally a word) answers.
I DIE EVERY SINGLE TIME WHEN I SEE YOUR BOOKISH PHOTOGRAPHY ON INSTAGRAM, CAIT! YOU TAKE AMAZING PHOTOS AND I FANGIRL SINCE MINE LOOK LIKE WASHCLOTHS. *chuckles* Anywhoooo, you’ve seriously got yourself a gorgeous haul right there. 😉 Yay for Kasie West and Cassie Clare! (I voted for The Distance Between Us, so I hope that you’ll go for that beauty soon, hah). Once I saw Bomb in the your stack photo, I immediately thought that it would be interesting… and then you mentioned the thing about THE GIRL STRAPPED TO THE BOMB AND THE POLICE SHOOTING HER, and I was out. *heads out the door* Not my kind of read, or I’d probably add a huge rant on my blog and everyone would hate me. xD I read The Cemetery Boys a few months back and I really enjoyed it! Sad to hear that it didn’t go as well for you! (But don’t worry, I wanted to slap Stephen as well, haha). Yay for libraries and satisfying readers!
OMG. YOU MAKE ME FLAIL LIKE A FRONDLESS PINEAPPLE. THANKS, MICHELLE. XDXD To be honest I have no idea what I’m doing with teh camera, ahah! And I’m sure yours don’t look like washcloths, awww, come on. 😉
I really hate illogical books. My mind just goes bezerk thinking of all the plot holes and YEAH. I’m going to be a bit ranty in my review of that one. *sigh* I’m glad you like Cemetery Boys better than me!! ^-^ YAY!
I like to complete ALL the things. So there’s that. Though lately, I am failing myself, I am afraid. Only the first book of Cinder, Partials, AND Throne of Glass? No, this cannot be right!
I voted for Challenger Deep. (Twice, if I am being honest.) Because it is Neal Shusterman, of course. I adore him, and I also want to know what you think of it! Also, I subscribed to your newsletter, because of course I did! I love your pretty Etsy things!
Now, for the questions… I will think of some. And I will keep this google form open for when I do. They’ll come to me, likely in the middle of the night, so let’s hope I remember them!
i just finished Challenger Deep and FAJDKLAD ALL THE EMOTIONS, SHANNON. I AM HAVING A COMPLETE AJFDKLASF MOMENT HERE AND CANNOT EVEN.
I cannot decide for you! I don’t know enough about them. But I know what my best friend would say, so I’ll mark that option in the poll, ha.
Hehe, these decisions are hard. xD
Yes, I have a question. Why do you think people like your blog (because obviously they do, because you get loads of comments)? Oh, and how do you manage to read so much? I really want to know how you have enough time to read all these books!
I SHALL ANSWE THAT QUESTION IN DETAIL IN MY UPCOMING POST. But, obviously the answer is I’m so fabulous. *tosses hair majestically*
Ahhh . . . so many books! I reread Bridge to Terabithia last year and yep, still made me cry. I swear, that is the first book that ever made me cry.
I totally teared up…again. And I KNOW this book inside out…omg, my Vulcan mask is cracking.
Omggg your book haul looks awesome!! So many books.. *flails* Okay, I’m done. I bought The Distance Between Us as well, I hope it’s as good as everyone’s been saying! I hope you enjoy the books you have left to read, I look forward to reading your reviews soon 🙂
ME TOO. I have high expectations so it better not disappoint. 😉
I have several questions for you. 🙂
~ How many siblings do you have? Are you the oldest or the youngest or whatever?
~ Have you read any classics? You know things like Jane Eyre, Gone with the Wind and Rebecca? I know you’d LOVE ‘Rebecca.’
~ Dark or light chocolate?
~ How much time do you spend writing every day? (I’m a writer myself, so I love to know.)
~ What’s your most embarrassing old post? Link it, so we can read it. 😛
~ What’s your personal favourite post?
Sorry if that sounded a bit nosy. 🙂 I just find you an interesting person, that’s all. 😀
~ Naomi
THESE AREN’T NOSEY THESE ARE GREAT!! *adds them to list* So just watch out for my blogversary and I’ll be answering them. 😉 Although *whispers* Dark chocolate all the way. xD
Finding Audrey sounds really cool! My questions(if I may ask more than one) for you are how do you come up with so many awesome blog ideas and any tips for slow readers?
LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTIES! *grabby hands* I’m so glad you’re reading more Rick Riordan books -DON’T YOU JUST ADORE PERCABETH?! I see Crescendo there and funny story (actually it’s not funny at all) I really didn’t like Hush Hush but I absolutely LOVED Crescendo, so I hope you enjoy it even more than Hush Hush! 😀
I can vouch for how awesome your paper creations are, I absolutely love mine and they looks absolutely stunning in my house entrance on my hall table.
So many incredible bargains! I’m really surprised that you want to continue with the Hush Hush series. I read book one twice, and it was even worse the second time around. But for that price, you can always trade with someone else for something you really want to read. Catalyst. Me and that book did not mesh well. Kudos to the author who was only 13 when she wrote it… But you can tell. I mean, who picks up a gun screaming ‘TAKE IT BACK’ when her father’s boss calls him out on his behavior, which was totally unprofessional. She was a nutcase cleverly disgusted as a heroine. Not for me unfortunately.
Have a fabulous week of reading smushie <3
Sigh. The Clockwork series is one of my favorites. I could probably just reread it on a loop. I actually named my 2nd Tessa, and we may call her Tessie. lol
I also enjoyed the Hush, Hush series, I hope you give it another chance, spit the damn sticker that won’t come off!
LOL YEAH. I saw Bomb by Mussi and the first thing I said was, “NOPE. NOPE. I’M NOT TOUCHING THAT THING AGAIN.” Apparently, the writing that she donned in Riot was still the same in Bomb, and as much as that premise intrigues me, I don’t want to have another braincell ruptured, too. The first time was MORE than enough!
WHERE ARE ALL THESE BOOKS COMING FROM? YOUR STACK IS HUGE. Also you should read Challenger Deep. It was amazing and eye opening. And I am again, PROUD OF YOU for reading Mistborn. That is a long book and you FINALLY TACKLED A BRANDON SANDERSON BOOK! GOOD FOR YOU 😀
So. Excited. For Demon Road. I need to read something by Derek Landy before it comes out, but holy crap the potential for awesomeness!!!
Ooh, middle grade? Magic? Crickets? Cereal? I’m in. *waits impatiently for your post*
