It has been a ridiculously delicious book week for me! And I’m incredibly excited about them, which is a feeling I adore. What is better than flailing wildly over books, I ask you? Answer: NOTHING. Except, perhaps, flailing over cake or conquering a small planet. And I have a few intriguing things to shout to you before we dive on. But I shout nicely and politely. Don’t fear.
I have to admit that I’m…struggling with finding enough time. Not with motivation to blog! I LOVE BLOGGING. The dastardly thing called Time is not treating me well. Talking to everyone and answering comments is what I want to do most. IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME. I love being known as someone who replies and talks and chats with everyone — I LOVE THAT. But, dangit, I need 84298 more hours in my day. I want to talk to you all, I do. But I have to admit it’s not always going to happen. I might be forced to consider some answering-every-second-comment and not visit blogs back all the time. But please don’t think I’m ignoring you!! And you can always catch me on twitter if you have something specific to squall at me. I JUST NEED MORE CLONES. HALP. Advice on this matter appreciated!I’d also like to know if the above will put you off commenting! Do let me know! (Honesty = my one true love, so let ’em at me.)- EDIT: New idea!! Suggested by some of you wonderful squids! I’m going to maybe blog less and still keep answering comments and visiting your blogs. SO WOOT WOOT. Keep talkin’ to me because I’m here to bombard you with…me? That sounds like a downside but trust me: it is not.
- I’m also going to have an end-of-year thank you giveaway and survey on December 1st! SQUEE. Keep your eyes peeled for that.
- I also won NaNoWriMo! My writing is basically done for 2015. Phewf and huzzah and give me sleep and cake. I also have a tentative plan to work on The Dead Boy and the Paper Cut (last year’s NaNo) soon and then put more up on Wattpad! I say “tentative” because, ugh, plot holes, okay? PLOT HOLES.
- THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER: I have wanted to read this for, basically, ever.
- SIGNS POINT TO YES: Basically just a bite of fluff. But at least it embraced the nerddom side? Thanks Pan Macmillan! ★★
- SIX OF CROWS: Everyone swears this book is the most brilliant thing of ever. Russian-esque fantasy world? Thieves? Anti-heroes? Yes and please. Thanks Hachette Aus!
- UNBECOMING: Apparently it is the week of unbecoming things…I have no idea what this is about! It’s a surprise from Scholastic Aus.
- FALLING KINGDOMS: Because FANTASY. I’m 99% sure fantasy is everything. I actually have no clue what this is about except there’s a character called “Magnus” and I’m predisposed to love Magnuses.
- THE MARVELS: This is by the author of Hugo Cabret! So this book = 50% pictures. YAY! Thank you Scholastic!
- DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE: I found this for 50 cents at a library sale!! 50 CENTS!! Bless this universe. I adore this book. ★★★★★
- DANGEROUS LIES: A signed copy. SIGNED. Oh my gosh. I only own about 5 signed books, so this is fabulously pleasing. Thank you Simon & Schuster! ★★★★
I also got the Shiver trilogy hardcover boxset because — LIFE IS SHORT. I NEED REWARDS. Plus shiiiiiny. Plus it was $20 for the set at Booktopia Australia. Um…how are they so cheap!??! Who got eaten by wolves to make this happen? EITHER WAY. My Stiefvater Shrine is up to 8 books. I’m only missing the faerie ones now!!
Lately on Instagram…although I’ve been having a slight fight with nature over lighting. And my inspiration = VERY LOW RIGHT NOW DANGIT.
Ohhhh, there is much excitable things this week, humans. PREPARE THINE SELVES.
- The news is pretty old by now but HELLO JK Rowling is writing more children’s books! I’m sure they’ll be bestselling and everyone will hate them.
- And did you know the Hunger Games theme park is actually happening? Can…can I pause for a minute and be outraged? They’ve MISSED the point of the books. Commercialising horror and violence??? Um…this is either a grand irony or horrible oversight. Either way: no.
- Also old(ish) news (hey I’ve been doing NaNoWriMo! I’ve been distracted!) His Dark Materials is going ahead for a TV series.
- Alexandra Bracken (author of The Darkest Minds books which…I have not read, but whatever, they look fabulous) has signed another 4 book deal!
- The Shannara Chronicles are now a MTV series and starts in January 2016 and it. looks. AWESOME. I was looking for a Game of Thrones replacement…could this be it?!
- Sarah J Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses is going to be a movie.
- HAVE YOU SEEN THE COVER FOR THE RAVEN KING YET????? IT’S BEAUTIFUL.
Also. YAY! TRAILERS!
- Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight asks why humans are hating on the memes. They’re fun, peoples!
- Abi @ Rambling Writer interviewed…*drumroll*…ME. I know right?! She has fabulous taste.
- Erica @ Novel Ink says don’t hate. Life’s too short, okay? Eat cake. Be happy.
- Amanda @ Nellie and Co asks if fiction needs to be served with a good sidedish of reality? She also tells everyone to follow my blog (and others…but clearly mine is the important one here) so CLEARLY she is excellently wise.
- Alexandra @ Twirling Pages has some excellent tips on taking gorgeous photos. Her instagram is also SO AMAZING. I recommend going to stalk her immediately.
- Aentee @ Read At Midnight asks who you’re blogging for?
- Emily @ Loony Literate debunks writing myths. Apparently we do not all function on coffee alone. Because there is chocolate too…
- Heather @ Sometimes I’m a Story talks about the BEST parts of blogging.
Because I’m freakishly nice and it’s nearly Christmas…I’m having a 10% off storewide sale on my Etsy if you use the code: XMAS10. You know what this means? IT MEANS GLORIOUS THINGS, HUMANS. Basically you can buy a Mini Bookish Necklace for every member of your family now. I’ll do any book cover, too, so if you don’t see your favourite — just send me a message through etsy. IT’S JUST ALL SO FABULOUS.
I’m suspicious of the Hunger Games theme park because doesn’t everyone sort of…die? I dont trust the rollercoasters, I’m just saying.
FINDING DORY!! IVE BEEN WAITING LITERALLY MY WHOLE LIFE FOR THIS MOVIE TO BECOME A THING AND IT LOOKS LIKE ITS FILLED WITH LALL THE FEELS!!
not getting a comment back does sort of discourage me from commenting, because when I comment I comment something meaningful and chatty. But I completely understand if you don’t have time, everyone gets busy now and then, though I wish I had your problem! I’d love to have an overflow of comments, but all good things come to those who wait. 🙂
OH OH ALSO, have you read Winter by Marissa Meyer yet?
NOOOO I HAVE NOT READ WINTER YET. SHAME ON ME RIGHT?!?!? 😛 My order hasn’t arrived yet. *sigh* But then…I shall devour it. I’m just hoping I don’t see any spoilers. >_< And I totally get that about the commenting!! SO I've actually been reconsidering and I want to try and blog less instead of commenting less. Comments are super important to me and I want to return the love and support. <3 And yesssss...getting a lot of comments did take me a few years and a LOT of blog-hopping, so it's very rewarding to put all the work in! 😛
I have told you before that you should pick certain types of blog posts that you won’t be commenting on like reviews, and let us minions know that you won’t replying to our comments, but you will be reading them. You could add that if we have any burning questions about a “no-replys” post, we can tweet you about it. 😇 I loved the first two Mara Dyer books. I haven’t read the last one yet because I wanted to reread the first two before tackling it because there was quite a bit of time between the last two and they are info dense. I think they are best binged. The Hunger Games theme park? I agree, not cool. The Marvels! I am so jealous! I WANT IT! Ha ha. I am really excited that you are going to work on Paper Cut! I cannot wait. 😀
YESSS YOU HAVE. And it’s actually quite a good idea. *nods* Although I don’t even get many comments on reviews so it’s not overwhelming to tackle them. 😛 My mum suggested just getting the first 20 comments and then going sparodically after that. SO YES. All these things. I’m considering blogging less though…because I want to return the comment love so bad!!
Ohh best binged for Mara Dyer?!? Okay I’ll keep that in mind! 😛 I don’t think my library carries any so if I love the first one I’ll put them on the to-buy list. hehe.
THE MARVELS IS GOrGEOUS AND SO HEAVY. My hand nearly broke of reading it. XD
KEEPING UP WITH BLOGGING IS SO FREAKING HARD. I’ve blogged… once this week. WHICH IS UTTERLY SHAMEFUL. And like you it’s not because of motivation, it’s because of TIME. Urgh. There needs to be 243738393 more hours in the day, thank you very much. That, plus edits, plus NaNo, plus reading, and I”M DROWNING.
AHHHHHH WE NEED A BLOG TIME-LACKING SUPPORT GROUP. XD Ahem. But you’re doing copy-edits right?! You have excuses!! I have…none. -_- Actually “shiny books” is my stand-in excuse for all the things now. hehe. When it comes to blog or answer comments or read…I almost always go shiny books. *sigh* BUT I SHALL WORK ON THIS.
*throws you life boat made out of chocolate* YOU GOT THIS, KARA.
I would never stop commenting on your blog cause your posts are too fabulous.
Also, great haul! 😀
AFJDLSKA BEIKE YOU WONDERFULLY SPECIAL BEAN I SHALL HUG YOU NOW.
Oh, is that Six of Crows I see in your stack? Yay 🙂 It is my favorite fantasy novel of 2015 so I hope you will enjoy it, Cait!
Also about commenting/replying… Since you want honesty… I stopped visiting or commenting on blogs because I felt ignored before. But it was because I NEVER got a single reply for months and said blogger never ever stopped at my blog at least once to say hello. So if I get “ignored” at Paper Fury here and there, it will not stop me from visiting your blog. I Just love your posts too much 🙂
YESSSSSS. I’m finally going to read it!! *hyperventilates with happiness* I’ve only heard good things!!
Oh oh I get that! I DO. I’ve felt the same way with blogs ignoring me. Worse, I’ve had “big blogs” ignore me until my own blog got bigger and more established and THEN they paid attention. And gah, I don’t know??? Maybe I’m being too sensitive? But I thought that was even ruder. *sighs* BUT ANYWAY!! I’ve decided to attempt to blog less so I can keep up with the comments. I appreciate your comments so much, Lucia!! <3
OH! SO THAT’S THE REASON…. I was veeeeery sad, I thought you were avoiding this minion of yours but seriously you and your blog is awsome, I definitely won’t stop commenting on yours.
I’m soo jealous, so maaany great books in your stack! I also bought Six of Crows recently, can’t wait to start it. And that bookish necklace is so awsome!!
OMG NO I’M NOT AVOIDING YOU!!! And I’ve recounted and decided to blog less and comment more. hehe. Because I appreciate the time people take to comment on my blog and I want to return it!!!
ANYWAY. HUZZAH FOR BOOKS RIGHT?!?!? I’ve only heard good things about Six of Crows so squeeee!! I’m hoping it lives up to the wild hype!
Yeah there needs to be more time in the day. For reals. And it is totally reasonable to not visit every blog that comments all the time. I am sure most understand. Lovely pile of books. Hope you enjoy them all. Yay for winning NaNo and all that good stuff. I was so excited for the Finding Dory trailer. My kids (and by kids I mean me) are excited for it to come out!!
Seriously, we don’t ask too much right? Just like 83809 more hours per week. That’d do it. And yesssss DORY!!! My nephew and niece are pretty much “Huh?” about Finding Nemo but bah, they’re gonna watch it BECAUSE I’M GONNA WATCH IT.
Yeah, that Hunger Games theme park sounds horrifying, truly. What were they thinking?! That is an exceptional bookstack you’ve got there! I’m dying to read Falling Kingdoms, can’t wait to hear what you think! I think you’ve nailed it on the head, we are only one person and we can’t do everything, and commenting back is the most time consuming thing! But sometimes you gotta put life priorities first. Have a great reading week Cait!
THANK YOU OMG I’M GLAD YOU AGREE. *dies a little on the inside* They’re glorifying the death and horror that was the Games and … that’s what the Capitol did and why the districts rebelled. DID THE PEOPLE NOT READ THE BOOK!?!??!
I totally do wish I COULD do everything bloggly wise. *sighs* BUt I guess it’s better to be sane, right?! 😛
More than the fact that they’re making a Hunger Games theme park, its the fact that its going to be in Dubai that has me surprised. I used to live there a few years back, and to see Dubai become all so glamorous suddenly is kind of hard to take in lol. But I’m going to wait for more details on this park before I make a decision whether I’m excited or not.
And OMG FINDING DORY!!!! YESSS *fireworks* I can’t wait for June ’16!
I think they’re making it in America too? Like a spin off or something?? Gah. I can’t remember because the article terrified me too much. *collapses* I just…I think it misses the point of the book. >_>
YAY FOR FINDING DORY. HOW MANY YEARS HAVE WE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS OMG.
I needed all of this news because I completely didn’t know any of it! Okay, that’s a lie, I knew some of it, like The Hunger Games theme park and JK writing a new children’s book, but not about The Shannara Chronicles (am I spelling that right? I don’t think I am) and I didn’t know they were making a new Finding Nemo film (who doesn’t love Dory?) so thank you for telling us about it. I am the worst with keeping up with bookish news, I need like a weekly newsletter to give me the highlights so I can pretend I knew about it..
Also, I am so jealous of your book haul (and pictures) I keep wanting to buy new books (and these are some good choices) but I just can’t because my towers of books are threatening to kill me one day if I don’t start reading them. I am going to hide in a dark cave for a week and attempt to conquer them, maybe then I can treat myself.
I have no idea how to spell Shannnarnara. OMG I THNK I MANGLED IT THERE. BUT WHATEVER IT LOOKS SO EPIC. And it comes out in January which is my birthday month so basically = present to me. :’) haha ZOMG I LOVE DORY TOO. And don’t worry!! I’m usually pretty bad with bookish news myself…or like I see it and then forget about it promptly. So I’m training myself to dig it up and save it to share. XD Do you read the Cuddlebuggery book blog? Because they do newsish posts ever week and they’re AWESOME.
Agh, I hear ya on the ominously groaning TBR. ME TOOOOOO. Although mine isn’t too horrifically tall at the moment. I got down to 3 books a few weeks back and it was scary. 😛 I’d rather have too many books than not enough. hehe
I’ve been meaning to remain Falling Kingdoms. Maybe with the last one coming out I’ll find some motivation!
I don’t know how to feel about ACOTAR becoming a movie. Just sounds…odd?
AHHHH. I’M SO EXCITED FOR IT. I literally know zlich about it, but fantasy = <3
I agree. I don't know how to feel about ACTOAR either. 0_0 Although, I admit, I'm kind of turned off Maas at the moment.
Have you thought about using a service like Postmatic to deliver comments via email and respond that way? Maybe you get too many comments for that to be feasible!
I used to answer comments via email but for some reason it wasn’t actually sending the replies to anyway! D: GAH. So I have to do it through my blog. Which is okay. XD I just need more time for everyone’s thoughtful nice comments. ANYWAY. I’ve decided to blog less so I can keep up with the comments. 😀
I think I said “Oh my word //really//?” when I saw that ACOTAR is being made into a movie. I haven’t read the book yet but… I don’t know if that’s good news or not??? I’m just so done with Maas though so, it might just be my personal feelings XD
HAHHHHHHH. *whispers* Me too. 0-0 I actually…I actually am scared?!? I mean, I’d probably watch it, but I’m so turned off Maas right now. >_>
SAME. I mean, I haven’t read the book, so after I do I might not want to see the movie. BUT YES. SCARE. (now if they made Throne Of Glass into a movie…. I would watch that. Probably not the other books, but I would watch a movie of TOG)
Did you know ToG got optioned for a TV series!!?!?!??
oooohh that makes sense. The series is too long and involved for just one movie per book.
Oh.my gosh I’m so excited for the new Alice in Wonderland movie I loved the first movie and watched it 5000000 times already! Congrats on winning NaNoWriMo that’s quite an accomplishment 😀
AJFDAKLSD ME TOOOOOO. I didn’t even know it was in the works until the trailer came out!! SO YAY. Happiness = me. Aww, thank you!! NaNo was lots of fun and for the first time in ever I’m actually looking forward to edits! 😀
I regrettably feel the same about this thing called TIME. I NEED MOAR OF IT. But I think we all forgive you for not having 10 clones so that you can do all the things you want to bloggingly do. Except me. As long as you answer all my comments, we cool. (Just kidding.)
AND OF COURSE NOT. I will always comment on your rants because they are awesome and funny and I want to let you know so. You have to have encourangement to keep blogging awesomely!
Same for me about ‘Mara Dyer’ series. As of two days ago, I have the complete series on my bookshelf…I literally have no excuses now. XD
Your instagram pic of ‘Walk on Earth a Stranger’ = FLAWLESS. I have picture envy.
Wait. Wut. ‘Hunger Games’…theme park? … No words.
YES YES YES ACOTAR MOVIE.
As always, Cait, wonder post. Keep being awesome!
SOMEONE FIND US A TIME TURNER, gAH. But, zomg, I appreciate everyone’s comments soooo much so I’ve decided to basically blog less and then have more time for comments. XD LET’S SEE HOW THAT WORKS OUT. But if you find that time turner first Rosie, I DEMAND YOU SHARE. hehe. I’ll trade in cake. AHHHH THANK YOU FOR THE NICENESS THOUGH. <3 Rants are fun, right?! 😛
Ohhh, we could Mara Dyer together! 😀
AFJDLKSAFD THANK YOU. The instagram pic of WOEAS is my absolutely favourite of ever. I swear it's just luckiness if I get the light at a good time. *nods*
I ACTUALLY BOUGHT A TIME TURNER… it doesn’t work though. *cries* But that’s a good idea Cait! We, as readers and commenters, will get the best of both worlds 😉
Heheh, I could *try* to Mara Dyer with you, buuuuut something tells me you’ll leave me in the dust, you fast reader, you! XD
The biggest advice I have (not blogging! it’s wonderful!) isn’t something you want to hear, so other than that….only post 2-3 times a week? Only review books you either love or hate? I don’t know, I don’t understand how bloggers keep up with all the things. I have a hard enough time keeping up with reading books, reading other people’s blogs, commenting, etc.
I definitely understand that it’s hard to reply to all comments PLUS comment back on blogs, but I do think if you stop replying to comments/visiting other blogs, you’ll slowly start to get less comments. (Although if anyone were to defy logic, it would be you!) The two most important factors in whether I follow a blog are if I like the blogger and if the blogger replies to comments. I don’t see any point in commenting on a post if I’m not going to get a reply. (I’ll only do it for bloggers I really, really like.)
I”m rolling my eyes so hard at the idea of a Hunger Games theme park.
I’m cautiously excited for JKR to write another children’s book. And by that I mean I’m terrified. It’s going to be impossible for it to live up to everyone’s expectations. I do hope it’s closer to YA than MG, or that they at least progress in maturity the way Harry Potter did.
The obvious answer to what you should read next is “The Exiled Queen.” 😀
I just had a thought. Maybe if you asked fewer questions at the end of your posts (though that’s my favorite part!), people wouldn’t write such long comments in return? Then they’d theoretically be easier to reply to.
HAHA. OKAY YOU WIN, NON-BLOGGER. (But seriously…there are way too many benefits. 😛 I’m not totally unsure I won’t convince you to try someday…. Mwhaha.) AHem. I actually on review books sent from publishers on here!! I review everything I read on goodreads because I LOVE REVIEWING. *nods* But yes…I’m going to cut back on amount. Aren’t you the wisest thing? 😉 I’ll keep my commenting up and just try and post less. The commenting means a LOT to me and I don’t want to lose it.
I’m kind of horrified at THG themepark. Didn’t they read the books??? Didn’t they see how the Capitol was glorifying murder?!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING, HUMANS???
*flails* Guess who just finished HP 6 and is therefore very excited for anything and everything JKR right now. *beams*
Hah, we’ll see about that. Oh right, I do remember that. I guess that means you’re obligated to post the reviews? Maybe accepting fewer review books is the answer. (Although it sounds like you get many of them unsolicited.)
I feel as if we’re reverting back to the gladiator days, where human suffering was a spectator sport.
SO HAPPY YAYYYYY.
Yup *nods* I don’t actually ask for that many review-copies anymore! And I also get sent less…which makes me a bit sad because I’m like a dragon horder and love collecting books even if they’re not my favourite hehe. But seriously, these last few weeks I’ve been reading more books I want to read and ZOMG so many 4 and 5 star reviews!! They just never seem to get onto my blog. 0-0
Yay, it’s working! I’m so happy to hear that. And you always *could* review your 5-star reads on here, even if they’re from the library.
YES. I COULD!! Except…I feel like I might as well do a discussion or a fun post instead of a review if it’s only a book I’ve libraried?!? Agh, I don’t know if that’s crazy thinking. xD I’m going to do a survey so I might ask the humans what they think too. *nods*
*whispers* There are some people who ONLY review library books. I think if you have something to share with people, you should go ahead and post it.
A Hunger Games theme park is kind of sick. Why not just go live in a brutal dictatorship? You’d get the same experience. (Honestly… What is wrong with people?)
So you got The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer as well as Unbecoming? That’s kind of funny. (Or maybe I just amuse easily.) I probably wouldn’t like Unbecoming, based on the title. All five of the “un-” books I’ve read and reviewed for my blog have gotten pretty low ratings. It’s a really weird coincidence! One of these days I hope I find an “un-” titled book that I like.
I’m curious about Rowling’s new children’s books, but kind of nervous… for her. I mean, you wrote the bestsellling children’s series of all time. No pressure! (I was never all that crazy about her actual writing in the Harry Potter books. It will be interesting to see if it’s changed or improved since she’s got a lot more writing experience under her belt now.)
THANK YOU YESSSS. IT IS SICK. It’s wrong. I’m just…I’m a little flabbergasted, tbh. o.O Did they not read the book?!?!? The point was how horrific it was that the Capitol commercialised and made a “game” out of murder. Now people are doing the same thing. It’s. so. wrong.
HAHA. I know right, though?! It was the week of Unbecomings. At least the covers are wildly different or I would be in a befuddle. I loved Unwind! So hopefully I have better “Un-” luck. 😉
Omg, yes, I totally know what you mean. And I feel like it’ll forever be “well it wasn’t as good as Harry Potter…” which would be hard for a writer….
I will forever comment on your blog, even if you don’t give me a second glance *but please don’t do that, haha.* I feel like blogging shouldn’t be about – I give you a comment, so you give me one in return -. I do agree about needing more hours in a day.
I’m not sure how I feel about a Hunger Games theme park.. I mean, Harry Potter makes sense, but how will they shape it into something as spectacular? ANOTHER J.K ROWLING BOOK, it felt like Christmas and April 1st. I’m nervous and excited.
AWWW MEL. <3 LEMME HUG YOU A MMOENT AND POSSIBLY FEED YOU COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF CAKE. I've decided to try cutting back on my posts so I can keep up replies and blog-visiting because they mean soooo much to me. :') And I know it shouldn't be a you-give-I-give thing, but it is nice, in a way, I guess?? It makes connecting with people easier!
I think people expect The Hunger Games to be "the next Harry Potter" but it's just completely different in message and themes. :O So it totally scares me that they've missed the point of THG. D:
Not sure how I feel about a Hunger Games theme park…. Wasn’t the whole point of the hunger games to survive? Not sure I’d go to a theme park where I’m running for my life. XP
I’m with you on the blogging less and spending more time commenting/interacting on social media. It’s what I’m hoping to do going into the holiday season. Crafting blog posts that are meaningful can be tough sometimes. Right now I wish I had the power to stop time. That’d come in handy right about now.
& OMG! Your book necklaces are GORGEOUS!!! I think I’m definitely going to have to buy some for friends and perhaps myself. 😉
yesSSSS. And also that how the Capitol was commercialising their deaths was WRONG??! Like…I feel like the people behind the theme parks have not read the books. :O *wails for humanity*
We need clones right? SO MANY CLONES.
AWWW, THANK YOU. <3 I'm glad you like the necklaces, eheeh.
OMG CAIT STAHP WORRYING. I will love your crazy little bundles of happiness (aka posts) whether they come out once a week or every day. You should take the time to do more stuff and be happy, if you need to. I just couldn’t bear it if you ACTUALLY stopped blogging for good. *flails wildly before you*
As for returning comments, boy do I FEEL ya there! I would never be mad at you for not returning my comment, because as long as I know that you saw it, I’m coolz.
OMGGG can we fangurl about Maggie Stiefvater?! I’ve only read The Raven Boys but it’s amazing I mean come on. Also Daughter of Smoke and Bone IS LIFE!!!
AWWW THANK YOU GRACE. I SHALL JUST FLAIL NOW. Stress is becoming my middle name…>_< And I think it's mostly to blame on end-of-the-year craziness. But also, gah, things are just intense!! I'll probably switch and post less and keep up the blog hopping and commenting because it's important to me. :') YES LET'S FANGIRL ABOUT MAGGIE STIFEVATER FOR EVER BASICALLY. AJFKDLSA I LOVE ALL HER BOOKS SO SO MUCH. You need to try The Scorpio Races!! PLEASE, GRACE. I BEG YOU.
Six of Crows. Falling Kingdoms. Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Alice Through the Looking Glass. Finding Dori.
This blog post is full of all the things I want to read/see!!!! <3
EEEEEEP. It’s been an exciting last couple of weeks, right?!?! I CANNOT WAIT FOR FINDING DORY TO BE OUT.
Oops. Dory** lol
I found the first Shiver book hard to get through, but I LOVE Maggie Stiefvater!! Did you have trouble with it too? Does the series get better?
Also, yes, I would be put off commenting, but that’s only because some reasons I think of a comment just to say “hey, I was here and I read what you have to say and I’m paying attention to you!!” But sometimes that’s not necessary and it would seem like sometimes it’s even more trouble than it’s worth to you! Especially since I’m still on hiatus. I think I’ll cool it with the comments for now, just know that I AM reading your stuff and I’ll say something if I have something to say!
OMG I LOVED IT. XD I’m like absolutely biased towards anything Stiefvater though and just it aaaaall. *hugs Stiefvater books* I think they’re my least favourite of all her books? But still 5-stars. hhe.
It’s definitely not more trouble than it’s worth!! I LOVE REPLYING. I’m actually staggeringly honoured that people comment on my blog and like to talk to me about all the things. 0_0 SO YEAH. I’m going to cut back on posting amount and keep up the comments, because you all are spewshul to me. <3
How sweet!
And maybe I’ll give Shiver another try.
I like when people comment back because it keeps me up to date with them, but I understand when life just gets in the way…so don’t stress too much!
I’m so excited for J.K.’s children’s book! I’ll read anything she does. I’ve loved everything (Harry Potter and adult titles) so far.
And The Hunger Games amusement park is AWFUL! My friend and I were complaining about that too. It’s like the complete opposite of what the book is trying to say. Ugh.
I shall try not to stress!! ALTHOUGH STRESS IS KINDA MY MIDDLE NAME. XD Hahaha. I’m going to try to cut back on posting and still keep up with comments. Because they’re super important to me. :’)
I just finished reading the 6th Harry Potter book so I’m monstrously excited about JKR’s writing in general right now. XD
OMG I’M GLAD YOU AGREE!! I think it’s horrific that they’re making it into a theme park and that they’ve missed the idea of the books. D:
I know the feeling. I barely have enough time to blog let alone go around commenting or answering, but I try hard D: even if it takes me a couple of days. Not that I am burned out or anything, I just got a 9 month old that takes up all my time lol
And 9 month humans do love to demand much attention, don’t they? 😉 I TOTALLY GET THAT!! I have a 7month niece and wooooah, she’s a bit of a live wire at the moment. But she’s not mobile yet, which…at least we’re not constantly running after her yet. SOON. I’m sure. XD
Ughhhhh time is the worst. If I don’t take the time I have to schedule ALL the blog posts, they don’t get written O_O Plus, you know, NaNoWriMo is taking up so much time because of procrastination (oops).
But yeah, the Hunger Games theme park is such a weird idea.
I HEAR YA. I DO. I’m thinking of trying to schedule things up a week in advance and then just spend time answering comments. GAH. I love comments but whyyyyy do I not have 92 clones yet?! I NEED THEM.
A Hunger Games theme park? You have to be kidding? What the heck are the rides and things going to be? They fight to the death in the books…. did they forget that? And while I always comment back myself, I know that a lot of other bloggers can get hundreds of comments on their posts so commenting back can become a bit of a chore. I don’t think badly of people who don’t comment back… we all have stuff to get done and if you don’t have time, there are honestly more important things.
I think they forgot. Maybe the roller-coasters will throw people out??? I JUST DON’T SEE HOW THE VIOLENCE CAN BE VIEWED AS FUN. D: It’s like missing the entire point of the books. GAh.
I loooove commenting. And it can be overwhelming, but I don’t think it’s a chore. I JUST DON’T HAVE TIIIIIIIME. *wails loudly* Like I spend a lot of time writing the posts and then I realise it’s like 10:00pm and I haven’t commented or blog hopped and omg I have reviews to write and then etsy orders and ajlkfdasdjkl where are my clones. I need them. And I think every blogger (and just human) over ever struggles with this, right?!?
Gah, that sounds horrendous! I think they’ve really missed the ball park with this idea…. they seem to have no idea what THG actually represents…
*wipes brow* I”m so glad you think that! I LOVE commenting too. Being a small-time blogger and having some of the ‘big time’ bloggers comment on your posts is the BEST feeling, and its honestly the best way to get to know bloggers and make friends and all that stuff. I’m not a massive Twitterer so this is my way of reaching out to people and letting them know that I like what they have to say and raving together about the good and bad stuff. AGREED!
YESSSS I AGREE!! Commenting is how I’ve made like 90% of my internet-friends!! But squee!! I still don’t ever remember to think of myself as a “big blogger” because I spent like YEARS trying to get 100 followers, haha. XD *hugs you and gives you cake*
I’m pretty sure there is etiquette or protocol before I say this, but I adore your blog, as evidenced by my perusal of your last dozen or so posts, seeing as I’ve discovered you today. Consider myself a new fan! As for all the news you brought, I’m astonished to find that I didn’t even know Alice in Wonderland was having a sequel, let alone that the trailer had been released. Thank you for that! And I loved The Invention of Hugo Cabret, so I’m hoping that The Marvels will be just as good 🙂
Omg, ERI. THANK YOU. LET ME JUST HUG YOU AND GIVE YOU CAKE RIGHT NOW. *flails wildly* And omg, isnt’ that Alice trailer the best thing ever?!!?? I’m in love with it and I didn’t know there was a sequel until I saw the trailer out. *facepalm* XDXD
WAIT WAHT YOU MIGHT PUT MORE OF THE DEAD BOY AND THE PAPER CUT ON WATTPAD?
This was the best news of the day.
(Besides the fact that I’m going to eat pizza tonight and just hit 50k.)
EXCUSE ME WHILE I GO FLAIL WITH HAPPINESS I THOUGHT YOU WEREN’T GOING TO POST ANYMORE! Eeeep! <3
YES. YES IT’S THE PLAN. *NODS WILDLY* I miss that book a ridiculous amount. XDXD AHHHH CONGRATS ON 50K!!! AN CONGRATS ON PIZZA!! I WAS EATING PIZZA TODAY TOO!!! PIZZA ALL AROUND!!!
Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is what you should read next! Nah, it won’t hurt my feels too much. Will I miss our talking? Well, yeah, but we talk pretty regularly on Twitter so it’s not like we won’t be talking AT ALL. If I miss you, I can just seek you out on Twitter, lol, and then problem solved. Also, it’s not like I’ve been able to keep up wioth every post lately, although I would like to, so we’ve ended up talking more on social media ANYWAY. i hope you can find more time. Good luck with uni or whatever it is you do that takes up your time! You’re so young, I could see you still in uni. I am so not the person to ask for blogging advice, haha, I’ve been struggling with doing it in advance like I planned. High school is a pain. The idea of a theme park is both exciting and frightening. Frightening because of the plot of the novel. I am so excited for the movie, the last movie in the entire franchise-WAH- that is coming out later this month in America. The 20th of November, and i’m supposed to be seing it the 25th or so with my best friend! We saw Part 1 of Mockingjay together last year, so it’s just fitting. How does it work in Australia? Did they, like, ship the movie over or something or has it still not been made?? That would suck, but there’s like the ability to buy it, I guess. But your money system seems a bit more expensive, unless I’m mixing up pounds and euros, unless they’re the same? OKAY, BABBLING, BYEEEE. :/
YES I LOVE TALKING TO YOU ON TWITTER TOO. <3 It's so hard to find time to do everything. 0-0 I just work, part time, so I feel immensely guilty for not having time to do everything. *gulps* BUT YEAH. LIFE. But I'm going to be cutting back on post amounts instead of commenting less, so yay! Hopefully that'll help. :')
Ahh, you mean do we get movies in cinemas at the same time? Because we usually do. 😛 Sometimes there's a bit of a few weeks difference, but we ALWAYS get Marvel movies before America. *flails* And Aussie dollars are more than American dollars *growls at money*
No to the Hunger Games theme park. No to commercializing horror and violence. No no no no no. Whyyyyyy.
Also, I 100% support this fabulous idea to cut back a little on blogging! I set a 1-2 times per week posting schedule recently, and it has helped so very much. Especially considering the insanity called NaNoWriMo that I have embarked on (really, what was I thinking?).
And your Shiver trilogy set is so pretty! I haven’t read them (yet), but those covers make me want to gobble them down immediately.
THANK YOU. I AGREE. I just don’t get how the people behind it aren’t seen the irony!?!?
It paaaains me so much to cut back though. *cries piteously* I love blogging and it means SO MUCH to me, but yes…if I can’t keep up, then what am I supposed to do?!?! GAH. I NEED CLONES!! SOMEONE INVENT THEM STAT.
WHAAAAAAT? J K ROWLING IS WRITING ANOTHER CHILDREN’S SERIES? EXCUSE ME WHILE I EXPLODE FROM HAPPINESS.
The Hunger Games theme park idea feels scarily like the touring of the arenas in the book. WHO CAME UP WITH THIS IDEA? AND WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA? Seriously, though, we already put WAAAAY too much focus on the whole romance part of it, and now this…it feels like it’s romanticizing the idea, which really isn’t good.
AND SO MANY GREAT TV SHOWS. I’m already super excited for Jessica Jones on the 20th, then there’s Shadowhunters in January and Season 2 of both Stitchers AND Agent Carter, plus there’s the Shatter Me TV series and I think Red Queen is becoming a TV series too? Either way, YES. And don’t worry about the commenting thing, ’cause I’ve been neglecting my commenters, as well. I blame NaNoWriMo. Really, it’s because I’m stressed out and tired and I can barely focus on BLOGGING, let alone going to five or six other blogs in one go. So I’m commenting on what shows up on my dash and calling it good.
GO EXPLODE, AINE. YOU’RE WELCOME FOR THAT PIECE OF NEWS. :’)
Agh, I wonder if Suzanne Collins is despairing of society right now… >_> They’re definitely romanticising exactly what the Capitol was, and I don’t get how people don’t see the irony of this. 0_0
YESSS I WANT TO SEE JESSICA JONES TOO!!! And Shadowhunters AND AGENT CARTER MORE AGENT CARRRRTER. Is the Shatter Me coming soon though? Because I will be watching that absolutely definitely. x) I just hadn’t heard anything about it yet.
Awk, but at least you can blame NaNo!! I don’t even have a full time job (just parttime) and I’m stressing and overwhelmed and running out of time. Blogging means so so much to me though so gahhh this is really hard. D:
Okay, I had NO idea there’s going to be a Hunger Games theme park. Like, what, WHY?! I think, just like you, that they completely missed the point of the books, the whole story, the whole freaking message behind all of this?! I’m curious about how this is going to go, to be honest. And I won’t be going there, for sure, ahah!
READ MARA DYER! It’s such an amazing book, I absolutely LOVED it. The story is chilling, and full of suspense, and, I just love it. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about this one 😀
It’s almost disgusting how horribly they missed the point of The Hunger Games books. Like the fact was WE SHOULDN’T COMMERCIALISE VIOLENCE AND MAKE IT GOOD. Omg. I bet Suzanne Collins is having a heart attack.
Squee!! I’m glad you’re for Mara Dyer!! I CANNOT WAIT!!! And chilling and suspenseful…omg, I’m so excited.
I honestly love seeing you’ve replied to my comment or visited my blog in return but I understand that there’s so many of us and only 24 hours in a day. Maybe you could try to reply to different people on different days or something of the sort?
Hunger Games Park sounds plain weird. Who came up with that “brilliant” idea?
Happy reading!
I was considering all of that…but, gah, I’m just gonna comment and visit blogs…and just I will blog less. *nods* I’ll see how that works out. I appreciate everyone’s comments so much I JUST WANNA GIVE BACK ALL THE LOVE AND AWESOME.
*whispers* I truly don’t think the people behind THG park even read the books. The books were OPPOSED to the games, but now IRL they’re making them??? gah.
I LOVE ‘Daughter of Smoke and Bone’ and just re-read it, because, necessary. It was raining.
Also; I am very excited for the Philip Pullman TV adaptation and need them to hurry up with that.
Plus, as ever, you are right. Fantasy is all the things.
I want to!! I also want to listen to an audio book because I can just imagine that beautiful prose would be even better out loud. :’) YESSSSSS. FANTASY!!!!
Yessss those are some clever commenters you have here. I had to start blogging less in order to catch up to commenting as well, I can only imagine is approx 7603x worse for you because you have OODLES of lovely thoughtful comments. Ahhh I am going on holiday this week anyway so I got to do all the blogging and deny all responsibilities.. FOR NOW. I am horrified at the commenting backlog when I get back BUT we shall only think of good and shiny things, yes.
I frown when I see a Sandy Hall book now cos Something A Little Bit Different was such a freaking mess, BUT OMG 50c for Daughter of Smoke and Bone?! You lucky duckling! I also need to be transported to that Hunger Games themepark promptly!
TYSM as well for linking my discussion post this week <3
I KNOOOOOW. I’m so lucky right?!?!? I’m just, gah, floored by how people give me long thoughtful comments. I MEAN WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE EVERYONE’S EPICNESS??! *flails and dies gratefully* hehe So yes. *nods* I want to keep up and give back with the commenting because it means a lot to me. *whispers* Although if I get too behind, I just give up and go from the present day. hehe. I’m sure no one notices too much. 😛
Well. Its ABOUT TIME you read the Daughter of Smoke & Bone! WHERE IS YOUR REVIEW I MUST READ IT IMMEDIATELY. Your tiny necklaces are so cute…I am enamored by your writing etiquette. I AM ONLY 25,000 words in, WHAT IS THIS. HOW do you do it, Cait? Also, if you do ever get those extra 8000+ hours, I WOULD LIKE SOME OK. A hunger games theme park? I have no idea WHAT is constitutes of, but it sounds scary and adventurous and…awesome? Why does no one find it awesome? Don’t…hit me?
OH OH I HAVE READ IT!! I read it last year actually haha. I just didn’t own it until now. xD I did a gif review because I was so in love with it. :’)
I JUST WRITE. Seriously! I wrote for like 6 to 7 hours a day when I was doing NaNo. o.O So that’s…intense.
AND YES I WILL SHARE WHEN I FIND ALL THE HOURS OF EVER. Time turners, maybe??? That would be handy. *nods*
HAHA, I won’t hit you. xD I just won’t join you at the theme park. 😛
Hunger Games theme park? huh? Like, will people have live targets to try to hit with their arc? Or will they have to physically fight with others to get a bottle of water? Kiss strangers to get medicine? It sounds fairly weird to me!
Congrats on finishing NaNo already, Cait! That’s truly amazing, and you should get ALL the cake and ALL the sleep!
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading (and blogging, and commenting, and eating caking 😉 )
Or maybe the roller coaster drops them out at a huge height into a pit of tracker jackers?? IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE TO ME. IT MAKES ME DESPAIR. D: It’s turning the horror of killing into, literally, a game. And that’s what the books were saying was evil. o.O
AHHH THANK YOU, LEXXIE. XD I have had all the cake, I must try and get all the sleep now. haha. But there’s too much to do. xD
NOOO CAIT DON’T LEAVE. I want you to blog and comment all at once. But, whatever you decide, I SHALL ALWAYS COMMENT. ALWAYS, MY FRIEND. (If you ever notice my absence in the comments section, please blame school not me. It has stolen all my time.)
Anyway, what is this with a Hunger Games theme park??? It practices the philosophy that Katniss worked so hard to destroy. Many people have read the books and/or seen the films and… have they not learned anything?
AWWW. THANK YOU, REBEKAH. <33 I have decided to blog less instead of comment less. XD Because you guys all mean so much to me, afdjkalfsdj AND AGH SCHOOL IS A TIME SWALLOWER TOO. When I find the key to a million more hours in one’s day, I shall share it with you. 😉
I honestly feel the makers of the park have NOT read the books. o.o
Ehehe, I understand what you mean with the commenting thing… I think replying to comments and commenting on others’ blogs is probably the hardest part of blogging! I scheduled a TON of posts a few weeks ago when I had free time with the idea that it would free up my time to comment on other people’s blogs, but…. noooo, I have a gazillion essays to write instead. 😛 I’m trying to keep up the commenting on a few blogs, at least.
Somehow it’s easier to write posts than comments??! 😛 BUT I LOVE COMMENTS A LOT. <3 so I shall continue my answering and wild blog-hopping and just post less. *nods* I think you're doing amazingly to just be posting along with a hectic college schedule!! 😀
Okay, so I’ve only read Book 1 of The Hunger Games trilogy – it just wasn’t for me; but I think it’s messed up to have a theme park based on a corrupt country where children and teenagers fight to the death to please their capital. It just seems all kinds of wrong.
IF YOU HAVEN’T READ WINTER READ WINTER CAIT (just saying, you know)
YES OMG THANK YOU I’M GLAD YOU AGREE. *dies a little inside at thought of this park* It’s just…it’s just totally missing the point of the books I think. And it’s making the whole “fight to the death” just a game…WHICH WAS THE EVIL PART OF THE BOOKS. *hyperventilates with rage*
I KNOW I KNOW. MY ORDER HASN’T ARRIVED YET.
I really need to read some Maggie Stiefvater books before you figure out I haven’t and hound me until I turn into a pinecone or something.
OMGGG YOU HAVEN’T YET?!?!?!? NIKKI. DON’T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE AND FORCE THEM UPON YOU.
I’M SORRY.
I recently got Mara Dyer as well! Super hype to read it (and see what you think of it as well)! I hate that you didn’t absolutely love The Marvels! I am still really interested it reading it, though,
-Monica @ Tomes Project
YAAYYY WE ARE MARA DYER TWINS IN THIS! 😀 I’m really keen! I see absolutely wildly varied reviews for it. But. I’m still excited. xD I hope you have better luck with The Marvels than me. I feel like it was beautiful just not…my style of book?
It won’t stop me commenting if you don’t always reply – even if you are the supreme ruler of the universe, you’re still only human. Besides, sometimes I read blog posts and don’t comment (I know, I know, it’s terrible of me), so it works both ways 😉
Read Deathly Hallows next!!! I’m not usually a massive Potterhead (I love the series, but only as much as I love my other childhood favourites) but I recently started rereading them (I DON’T KNOW WHY) and, I’m telling you, until you’ve read the seventh one, you do not know bookish pain. You need more of this in your life. We both know it.
GAH. DON’T REMIND ME OF MY MERE HUMANNESS. *collapses wailing* But yes. Omg. Days = not enough hours. And it’s not terrible to read and not comment!! One can only do what they can do right?!?
I HAVE DEATHLY HALLOWS ON RESERVE AT MY LIBRARY RIGHT NOW OMG. I really really loved the 6th book. I have such a hangover. :’| It was so hard to start a new book today. I JUST HAVE FEELINGS. *breaks down sobbing*
I know what you mean about replying and commenting back it can start to feel overwhelming.. I’d say try posting less and see how it goes if that’s what makes you happy, but if you can’t reply to every comment, I know that we’ll still visit you!!
IT IS. o.O I am going to take your advice though and post less!! And try and keep up with comments that way. *nods sagely*
Can I just say that you have THE MOST beautiful books? I always have bookish envy when I read your blog. I am drooling over those hardcover editions of maggie stiefvater (I definitely ruined that spelling of her name, ohno!) because even though I’ve never read them myself, THE COVERS. GAH. too much beautiful.
also, about comments!! I will definitely be disappointed to see less replies, because obviously I love hearing from you on a more personal level! but on a realistic level, I completely understand why you need to do this. as a blogger who gets about 600x less comments than you do, I can’t even imagine how much time it would take you to reply to everyone! I struggle sometimes to reply to only one or two comments! so yes. whatever you need to do, you do. you got this, girl!! #peptalk
APPARENTLY I SPELLED HER NAME RIGHT, NEVER EVEN MIND
YESSSS YOUR STIEFVATER SPELLING IS PERFECT. XD Also afdjksalfdj BOOKS ARE SO PRETTY RIGHT OMG. I LOVE HOW PRETTY THEY ARE. *strokes book covers* Shiny covers are my weakness.
I’ve decided to take it aaaaaall back and to blog less so I can keep up with the comments. 😛 SO HOPEFULLY THAT WORKS, RIGHT??! I appreciate the pep talk though. Omg. :’) Cake for you.
I loved the Mara Dyer series! It was pretty unique and kept me guessing. I have had the Shiver books on my TBR forever! I really want to read them (and The Raven Boys!). So many books, so little time. If only I didn’t have to have a job!!! Stupid job takes up all my reading time 🙂
And I am so sending my husband the link to your Etsy store to get me a bookish necklace! Super cool!
YESSS YOU NEED READ ALL THE STIEVATER!! *flails quietly for all the Stiefvater books* haha, but yes! We all need 948209 more hours in our day, right?! SOMEONE MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR US. *collapses*
I’m SO excited for a Hunger Games theme park. And the Star Wars one too!! I can’t wait for all of these to come. I just don’t want to wait in lines xD Ooh I love those necklaces, Cait !
Awww, thanks, Rachel! 😀 The necklaces are super fun to make that’s for sure.
I’m liking the blogging less and commenting more idea. XD NOT THAT I DON”T LIKE READING WHAT YOU WRITE, I JUST LIKE COMMENTS, SEE.
Mmm Hunger Games park seems to be a bad idea. like. DON”T YOU LEARN?
*quietly flips out over Raven King cover*
kay bai
HAHA. OKAY. WELL THAT’S MY NEW PLAN. *nods* Although it’s hard because I have soooo many post ideas. *heavy sigh*
I feel like whoever is behind THG park has NOT read the books…o.O
The Hunger Games theme park would be one of the BEST things on Earth- so so so excited for it!! And OF COURSE I love JKR’s new children’s books already. Why wouldn’t I? But yes, I must admit I’m kinda VERY nervous for them too.
Love the necklaces, Cait! Soo adorable <3
Oh well at least you’re happy about THG park. I’m still horrified. XD >_<
Oh, Cait, this is HARD. I know, because time also hates me. Did one of your clones jump ship? Or is she testing out the new Hunger Games Theme Park (don’t hate on it. Come with me instead! 😉 ) No, but in all seriousness, I am basically having a breakdown over the same thing. I don’t get hundreds of comments like you (I seriously don’t understand how you’ve been so amazing at replies this far! It’s incredible!), but I do get some, and I LOVE them, and all I want to do is answer everyone and chat and visit blogs, and all that good stuff. But I have been going on about 2 hours of sleep a night, and I am about to fall over. And then I get so stressed about not answering people! I’ve resorted to basically groveling weekly that I promise to get more on the ball.
So.. yeah, I don’t have any solutions. I tried the blogging less thing, but it hasn’t even been helping, especially with NaNo going on. I would never not visit because you didn’t respond though, just an FYI 😀 Here’s my opinion: you cannot always respond to every comment. It’s not humanly possible. Try to answer the ones that specifically ask questions, or require a response when you’re in a time crunch. I think the only way people would stop visiting is if you NEVER interacted, and I know you, and that won’t be a thing.
I’d say to read Six of Crows, just because it is pretty, and also the only one I have read 😉
OMG ONLY 2 HOURS OF SLEEP A NIGHT?!?!? SHANNNNNNON. YOUR HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN COMMENTS!!! Don’t make me be mothery and tell you to go sleep. 😉 *whispers* Seriously though….sleep.
And I try to do the comment-back AND visit everyone’s blogs. haha. And it works HUGELY for increasing audiences and everything I just….need…more hands!?!? And I don’t want all my hard work of building my blog up to just fall apart. BUT THEN I DON’T WANT TO FALL APART. So life is tough. Omg I need a time turner.
That is excellent advice though, Shannon. <3 I'M TAKING IT ON BOARD.
SIX OF CROWES! OMG I saw this at the book store, but then stopped myself because if I bought it, I knew I’d start splurging! I’m gonna wait till Christmas and treat myself to books and MORE BOOKS BWAHAHAHAHA!
HAHA. OKAY I TOTALLY GET THAT. XD I was super lucky to get a review copy because ajfdklsafdj it’s beautiful right?!?! BEAUTIFUL AND I CAN’T WAIT!! I’ve only heard good things. 😛
Blog less and more smushy on social media and on our blogs? Now that’s something I can get on board with. You’re such a busy little poppet, when you’re not blogging, you’re writing and when you’re not writing, you’re taking photos of twigs. Yes, you thought you’d get away with that didn’t you, never replacing the stick.*throws self down*
Ooh, it’s up on Wattpad? I’ll have to join up to read it. I’m so excited, seeing how you tease us all with these little snippets of your work. Viva la smushie! *smushes you and pops you in my pocket*
ALL ABOARD THE BLOG-LESS-CAIT TRAIN! Except it does sadden me a bit because I have like 94028 post ideas and just not enough time for them. ahah. But all things will come. I just need to slow down. *nods* And taking photos of twigs is HUGELY important. I can’t cut that out of my schedule or the twigs will all be sad and come crying to me. I refuse to make a twig cry after that last traumatic time where I tHREW OUT THE TWIG.
I’ve only got 5 chapters up on Wattpad so far. I FELL INTO A PLOT HOLE AND DIED. I’m thinking of reworking some of the beginning too. *nods*
110% agree with you that the Hunger Games Theme park COMPLETELY misses the point of the story. Frustrating.
I have never been more excited for anything than I am for the His Dark Materials TV series. One of my all time favorites, I was just considering rereading it – and I have only ever reread one book. ever.
Pretty meh about JK Rowling’s new series. I love Harry Potter as much as the next girl but that was always going to be a hard act to follow up. (Who knew success could be such a drag from the author’s PoV?)
OMG GOOD AND THANK YOU. XD I’m glad I’m not alone on this…I feel like they haven’t read the book at all!?!? *sighs* I need to finish the Dark Materials books but afjdklasd I loved the first one and I’m excited for this too!! 😀
AND YES OMG I AGREE. I think success can actually be a really awful thing. Like everyone’s going to be saying “well…it’s not as good as Harry Potter…” I JUST KNOW IT. It must be daunting to keep writing with that hanging over you. 0-0
Awesome book haul! The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was so good. I really need to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I have heard great things.
I’m still in shock that you won NaNo so fast. XD You are superhuman, girl. Is it bad that I’m a teensy bit excited about the Hunger Games park considering my city is on the list? ^ ^’ Also I get the struggle of trying to comment everywhere. I do the best I can but I have to select the posts on which I can comment and the ones I can’t. XD
I’m with you on lack of time lately… Just today I’ve come to realisation that I am spreading myself too thinly at the moment and so something had to give, unfortunately. It’s hard when you want to do all the things but know that it isn’t always feasible. I’m reading this post after you’ve made the edit to this point and I think the solution you’ve come to should help you in the long run. And I like that you prioritise the socialisation over churning out posts.
I had no idea that J.K has a children’s book in the works… I’m not too sure how I feel about that. I’m excited, but also a little ‘meh’. Time will tell on that one.
I recently picked up The Marvels – I love the way in which Brian Selznick weaves his story and the inclusion of pictures is always a nice touch in my opinion. I haven’t yet read the book, but I do have a little gripe in the form of The Marvels being story told in pictures followed by story told in words, whereas Hugo Cabret was the two intermingled. I liked that format.
I actually got sad when I saw that A Court of Thorns and Roses is going to be a movie… not because I don’t want it to be (I haven’t read that book yet; I have no opinion on it), but because *huffs* WHY ISN’T IT THRONE OF GLASS?? I just finished that book a week ago, and I’m still drowning in feels from it, and I’d LOVE it become a film!!
*sweeps in with epic announcement* THRONE OF GLASS IS OPTIONED FOR A TV SERIES.
OPTIONED. WHAT DOES OPTIONED MEAN. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??
I don’t get as many comments as you do, but I understand you about the time. It’s just so difficult to reply and visit blogs! And what with my study. *weeps* Anyway, what the hell is that Hunger Games theme park? What are the games going to be? Cornucopia bloodbaths? Wtf seriously. Oh yes, the cover for The Raven King is absolutely gorgeous, and I…umm didn’t like Mara Dyer, but maybe you will. 😛
Okay I can’t remember if I’ve commented on this post because I don’t want to sift your mountain of comments, but yesss blogging less is what helped me maintain leaving comments for a long time! You can do it Cait! Also i didn’t like signs to point to yes as well, it was so boring!
I didn’t know about your etsy shop until now… that’s pretty cool 🙂
