Happy New Year!
I had a spontaneous bloggy break after Christmas — BUT I AM BACK. And reading again! (I took a break of that too…300 books is tiring, okay?) And I have a ginormous load of books because TBRs literally grow when left unattended. Where did these books come from? Who can know. But I shall eat them regardless.
And I’ve set my Goodreads goal (can I pause here to say I love how it’s orange?! Orange is my favourite) for 200…although, let’s be real. I secretly want to read 300, but a) I need to aim low so I can overachieve, and b) I actually want to write more this year so MAYBE I SHOULD JUST READ 200?!?! AND CALM DOWN FOR A WHILE!? We shall see.
OH WAIT. Before you dash off…did you know I made it to the finals of Epic Reads’ Book Shimmy Awards?! JUST A SECOND. I NEED TO HYPERVENTILATE AGAIN. (!!!) So if you want to vote for me…basically my dragons and I will love you and give you lightly toasted cake and doesn’t that sound wonderful? I KNOW. So go vote.
I won these from the glorious Romi @ Where The Writer Comes to Write! Best. giveaway. ever. Least to say I’m freaking out over Carry On because I really really want to read that and NOW I CAN. Teeny tiny bit nervous though? But we shall see, humans, ohhhh, we shall see.
Love Aubrey // The Imaginary // Dreamfire // Just a Queen // The Secret of the Blue Glass // The Peony Lantern // Spy Society // Carry On
And excuse me but I can’t even SAY the title without Supernatural’s influences. Humour me. But…Carry ONNNN my wayward sonnnnnnn.
You know what I seriously hate? PLASTIC COVERS ON LIBRARY BOOKS. It totally destroys photos. I just…I just need a moment of rage. AHEM.
- WHAT I SAW: Thank you to Harlequin!
- FRIDAY BARNES NO RULES #4: Surprise from Random House which is…erm…awkward because it’s 4th in a series.
- BEAUTIFUL BROKEN THINGS: Thank you Pan Macmillan! I’ve heard intriguingly good things.
- THE ADORATION OF JENNA FOX: I libraried this specifically because Rashika said to. I DO WHAT RASHIKA SAYS. I AM WISE.
- THE EVOLUTION OF MARA DYER (Mara Dyer #2): Because I need more unstable narrations and weird mind twistery books in my life apparently.
- LIQUIDATOR: This was a surprise ARC but…it sounds like “Not A Cait Book”. HOWEVER. Because I did like Andy Mulligan’s book Trash, I’ll try it. Thanks Scholastic!
- FIRST AND THEN: The cover for this is gorgeous. No idea what the book is about. JUST GORGEOUS COVER. Thank you Pan Macmillan!
- LADY HELEN AND THE DARK DAYS CLUB: Thank you to HarperCollins! I received this to do an instagram shoot…so totally go see my marvellous photo.
Thank you, universe, for the creation of Edelweiss.
- THE IMPOSTOR QUEEN: I’ve only read one Sarah Fine book and didn’t like it much…but I like to give authors several tries before I quit. Plus it sounds SO GOOD. Plus I love queens. #goals
- THIS IS WHERE THE WORLD ENDS: I already read it even though it doesn’t come out till March and — AGH. I loved Amy Zhang’s first book. But this one? Nopity no. Review will come…soonish.
Instagram has been monstrously fun, as always. And I recently hit 2,500 followers in time for Christmas! Thank you everyone!

- Here’s a list of 8 YA novels being made into movies in 2016. Any you’re excited for?! I had NO IDEA If I Fall was going to be a movie…I need…to read that ASAP.
- Lionsgate wants to make…Hunger games…prequels?! EXCUSE ME BUT HOW IS THIS NOT COMPLETE FAN FICTION NOW??
- There’s a Throne of Glass colouring-in book coming.
- The cover for Rick Riordan’s The Trials of Apollo has been revealed! Classic Riordan. DID I MENTION I NEED THIS BOOK ASAP?
- The BFG trailer looks amazing. Although I still find it ironic how ALL Roald Dahl’s books are basically movies now and he hated the TV with the fire of a thousand suns. #irony
- Also if you want to know what we Australians find amusing — here is The Wizards of Aus. I truly plan to watch this TV show.

O T H E R
OH AND THIS HAPPENED TO ME: A facebook page shared my photo (!!) and it got 12,000+ likes. Um. Hold me?? I’m screaming??
Remember how, once upon a time, I made a Wattpad account and started posting chapters of my 2014-NaNoWriMo novel called The Dead Boy and the Paper Cut? ANCIENT HISTORY, I KNOW. But guess what!? It’s back. Every Saturday I’ll post a chapter, until either a) editing destroy me because editing is cruel and hard, b) I wimp out of posting the whole book because I am a delicate flower, or c) the world ends in dragon fire and zombies and I’m otherwise occupied with that.
You can read the first 6 chapters now! (If you’ve already read the first ones from last year, they have been edited again…buuuut you don’t have to reread them to continue.)
Criticisms, edits, and suggestions welcome!
Now ‘scuse me. I must go back to my angry dejected editing WHICH IS FRYING MY BRAIN.
I am going to read a hundred books this year, I am *sweats* Maybe. I am. I want to at any rate. Yay, more of ‘The Dead Boy and the Paper Cut. Can’t wait!
YOU GOT THIS, SKYE. I BELIEVE IN YOU. AWww, thank you though!! I’m trying to edit up a chapter today for the next instalment…and procrastinating edits with answering comments. 😂 But still no regrets!! I LOVE CHATTING TO EVERYONE.
Ooh, congrats on making it to the finals of The Book Shimmy Award, Cait! YOU HAVE TO WIN!! YOU HAVE TO! WHY WOULD PEOPLE NOT VOTE FOR THEIR SUPREME RULER AND WORLD DOMINATOR?? And I don’t think I’ve said this before, but your Instagram is absolute PERFECTION??! SUCH BEAUTY IS BLINDING.
And you should totally read The Adoration of Jenna Fox. It’s creepy and slightly weird but also so intriguing and cool! And the Imposter Queen! I don’t know what to think about that. There is hype. And hype is scary because I’m a little anxious mouse when it comes to hype. BUT STILL! READ AND REVIEW BECAUSE I TRUST YOUR OPINION!
HOPEFULLY EVERYONE IS WISE AND KNOWS IMMEDIATELY WHO TO VOTE FOR. *nods sagely* I just can’t believe I’m in the finals!! I CANNOT BELIEVE.!!! All those booktubers are like uber famous. *gasps* So I don’t even mind not winning, I just love the publicity. xD😂
I actually haven’t heard a lot of Impostor Queen hype yet?! But I’m sure it’s coming. IT SOUNDS SO GOOD. I must read it before the hype!!
OMG SO SO SO MANY BOOKS. Like at least 763. I can count, why are you staring at me like that? I’m pretty sure you’ll read like all the books and Goodreads will crash one day. Congratulations on the fabulous FB likes! But personally I think you definitely ought to calm down, read fewer books, conquer fewer planets, and actually … um … FINISH DEAD BOY. *nods*
yES. ULTIMATE GOAL = GOODREADS TO CRASH. (Actually, wait, that would be a panic. Goodreads is my life. *hugs Goodreads and protects it with dragon fire*)
Zomg. I will not stop the conquering. Noooope. But yes. Calming…down…*sighs* It really sucks though. 🙁 Once upon a time I could read and blog and write and fit it all in and now, I JUST CAN’T. WHAT IS LIFE, ALYSSA. *collapses*
I am aiming to read the same amount as last year (65) to keep to a reasonable amount and so that I will hopefully surpass that number. I actually already read a book this year (go me!), I started Winter at the end of last year and finished it New Years Day! It was AMAZING 🙂
Over achieving is GRAND. *nods sagely* I really like it because it makes me feel epic, even if I set my goals lower so I make sure I do over achieve. hehe. NO REGRETS. 😂 Yay for loving Winter! It was such a solid conclusion. Now I’m just itching for the novellas. EEEEP. And also Heartless. And also everything-and-anything-Marissa-Meyer-ever-writes-now. <3
Fingers crossed I make it! Winter was my fave! I neeeeeeeeeeed Stars Above and Heartless NOW! I would seriously read Marissa Meyers grocery list 🙂 <3
ME TOOOO. Did you see the cover reveal for Heartless?!?! I AM REALLY EXCITED FOR HEARTLESS. (Although not in love with the cover, but pfft, Marissa Meyer = I will read it.
First of all, happy new year and I hope you win Book Shimmy Awards because I voted for you and I want you to win, Cait 🙂
Anyway, I decided to take it easy this year and challenged myself to read only 60 new books (I plan to re-read a lot). We will see how it goes. And my first book of 2016? I started Illuminae and finished it yesterday. I am in love. It was such an unique reading experience!
YAYY THANK YOU!! So many other famous youtubers though. 😂 I don’t really think I’ll win but AHHH SO MUCH PUBLICITY SO FAR!! I’ve gotten tons of pageviews from it and that’s uber exciting. *dances* I want to reread this year too!! GOALS. hehe. Illuminae is. the. best. <3
THE WIZARDS OF AUS?! Awwww yeaah. How did I not know about this?!?!?! I’m aiming for only 60 books this year because I’m a peasant reader and don’t have magical powers to read faster *sigh*. I’m sure I will eventually be rewarded with a unicorn for my solid efforts, though. You should definitely read Carry On (because that cover) or Dreamfire (because also that cover). GOOD LUCK.
I saw it on facebook and I was like “I GOTTA WATCH THAT”. It looks perfectly corny and Australian. :’)
Ohhh, you just need some more CLONES NOW, DON’T YOU!? 😂 But yes, I actually need to back off on the reading as my clones are like quitting and trying to live their own lives and how dare they. *sighs*
Carry onnn my waywaaaard sonnn, there’ll be peace when you are done. I swear. Carry On signifies my two favourite things in the world – Supernatural, and Rainbow Rowell. I CAN’T WAIT TO READ IT. And woah, that haul is glorious. Congrats on the Reading Room fame omg XD and your pictures are gorgeous. as always.
I can’t even start it because I spend so much time JUST SINGING IT. 😂 NO REGRETS. I love that song. That song. And also this author, so how nicely that ties in. :’)
Aww, thank you. *beams*
Yay, a kindred spirit. You’re the only other person I’ve found so far who is aiming to read less this year than last. I want to write more too. Last year I aimed for 200 and over achieved with 284. I’m going to aim for 200 again.
The first book I finished this year was Who’s Afraid by Maria Lewis.
I KNOW RIGHT?!?! Everyone is aiming for more and here I am like “I need to not…read…so much.”😂 I just gotta organise my priorities a bit better, because writing ALWAYS gets shoved to the backburner for me and it’s a bit sad!! BUT YEAH. 200 is a good number. WE ARE TWINS IN THIS.
I’m aiming to read 50 books this year. Last year I put it to a 100, thinking it’d be super easy, but alas. I only read 13 books this past year. This year, though, I’m pushing myself to read more and to get more active with my blog. The first book I’ll be finishing is Heir of Fire by S. J. Mass.
I’m not too familiar with the books in your stack, but What I Saw is an interesting title!
Ohh, good luck with your goals this year!! Sometimes squeezing reading in amongst busy lifeness is hard right?!? And I don’t even know anything about What I Saw but AGREED. It sounds like a sort of thriller-y title so I’m excited. 😀
I don’t know how many books I want to read this year. Last year I read 154 books, so maybe somewhere around there. But I wouldn’t be upset if I read more, a lot more. My first book of the year was Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard, I have already read it but I am super excited for Glass Sword. You should read glass sword. I think you should totally read the Mara Dyer series ASAP. I read it and I didn’t think I would love the series as much as I did. I got through the whole series in a week. Yep, that’s how much I liked it.
That is an awesome amount of books!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!! Oh oh Glass Sword! Zomg, I completely forget that’s coming out so soon. I really do want to read it, even though I’m not the world’s biggest fan of the first book!? It was still good though! And I LOVED the Maven-plot-twist *cackles evilly*
The first Mara Dyer book BLEW ME AWAY. Ergo I need the rest. FAST. 😂
Yes, I have an ARC of Glass Sword I am going to start it soon. First I have to finish a couple books first. The plot twist was probably one of my favorite parts. I’m glad you are excited and finish the Mara Dyer series soon. I would like to see a review of the series.!
It is indeed a pretty orange. *nods* So many pretty books too!
I HAVE to check out that Wattpad of course to read your glorious writing.
I love orange. That is why I am clearly Peeta’s OTP. AHem. *flips hair*
ZOMG I WOULD LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR FEEDBACK ON MY WRITING.
Then you shall get it!!!
EEEEK, CAIT, CONGRATS ON BECOMING A FINALIST!! *votes* Basically, every year, I set my reading challenge to 100… and then if I feel like I can do more than that–then if I go over that, then I make it higher. O.o Last year (OMG, dude, it feels so WEIRD to say that), I did 245 (I think), but there’s no way I’ll go over that this year. I want to focus more on writing, and I”m starting uni, so I literally have no idea how much time I’ll have to read/write.
OH GOOD LUCK WITH UNI!! (What are you studying?! If that’s okay to ask. :P) And I basically go for around 150 each year and overachieve (like doubled in 2015, hehe) but I REEEEEALLY want to focus on writing this year and not just say it but DO IT. *nods*
Congrats again Cait!!!! You go and get that award. I don’t know if you noticed but it does allow multiple votes. You’re up against some damn famous Booktubers so I go back every day and vote for you again. You’re welcome! 😀
Glad Wattpad has awaken. I ended 2015 with 190 books…it’s the most I’ve ever read in a year. I set my goal for this year at 50 though cause I’m starting to work (OMG, I’m terrified) so I want to keep it realistic. I wouldn’t mind overachieving though. Happy reading!
I AM UP AGAINST FAME.😳 I honestly don’t expect to win? But it’s been AMAZING having the traffic and I’ve gotten a fair few new followers from it too. So YAY publicity!!😱😜
Oh good luck with your job!! I’m trying to back off on the reading to focus on writing. But everyone is laughing at me calling 200 “backing off”😂
WHAT NO. I was going to write a book called The Wizard of Aus. *stomps foot* NO FAIR.
Also…Hunger Games prequels?? What even.
My first book of 2016 is going to be Snow Like Ashes..although I haven’t actually started yet. Goodness gracious, I’m going to be behind on my reading challenge if this carries on.
WHAT. THEY STOLE FROM YOU. (But doesn’t it look so corny and hilarious though? I want. 😂)
And like I’m all for people making money off films and books and not hating on them for it…but Hunger Games prequels sounds 100% like a money making grab. Because Suzanne Collins couldn’t be behind that, right?!? Heck, she’s not even writing more books. :O
SHAME ON THEE. Don’t tell me you’re out socialising and working and having a life aside from books? *gassssps* 😜
Mara Dyer, that is all I need to say! I am pledging 104 books on GR again. I did 112, so there really is no pressure. The year before I started blogging I only read 25 books and my non-bookish friends thought that was monumental. Ha ha. My first read of the year will be Untamed. Will be because I didn’t read anything yesterday. I was still basking in the glory that was The Night Parade (and there are a ton of books with this title so you have to make sure to look at that one). It is a MG standalone set in Japan. Happy New Year. Oh, and I am loving Paper Cut and am happy there will be new stuff every Saturday. 🙂
I totally get that!!😂 I was always considered the “rabid reader” before I even had goodreads goals and I don’t think I read anywhere NEAR as many as 100 or anything. UNTAMED YAYY!!!! I still have to buy that. I was struggling to find the paperback because Australia thinks that everyone wants hardcovers. -_- Silly Australia. But it’s on my buy list because MORE MORPHEUS AFJDKLADS.
Awwwk, I’m so so glad you like Paper Cut. *hyperventilates with relief* And I should’ve had the chapter up last night, but we’ll pretend I was talking about American Saturday right?! Hehhehh. 😂
Congratulations on being a finalist! My fingers are crossed.
MINE ARE TOO. *eats cake while nervously waits*
Ooh, I hadn’t heard there was going to be a BFG movie. I loved reading The BFG, so I’m excited. I feel like all we read at school in fourth grade was Roald Dahl, so I kind of fell and love. But not when we watched the Witches movie in class. I was so scared and I didn’t watch the whole thing. Congrats on that facebook photo! That’s awesome. Also good luck with your reading goal this year. I want to read 100 books this year, which is kind of scary because I’ve failed two years before. 1 book down 99 left to go. I finished The Marvels yesterday, and it was disappointing compared to Hugo Cabret and Wonderstruck. Ah well. Hopefully my next read is better.
And I’m also ridiculously pleased that the BFG is actually a kids movie! 😀 I mean, I like it when the make kids movies (like Percy Jackson or whatnot) into older movies too…buuuut. I REALLY LIKE KIDS MOVIES. They’re so magical. :’)
Good luck with your goal too!! SQUEAK. I’ve only read 1 book this year so far too, which is actually kinda slack for me?! But I’m busy blogging, hehe. Oh oh I agree about The Marvels. Art = A+, in my opinion? But the story line just didn’t even pack a punch. D:
That’s a looooot of books! You’re so damn lucky you received sooo many books! 😀 For 2016, I think I’m gonna aim for 70 books for now because I’m starting my master’s degree this year so I definitely have no idea what might be in store for me. Nonetheless I haven’t started any book yet but I’m going to start it with a Netgalley read- Blood, Ink & Fire by Ashley Mansour.
Anyways, wish you a very Haaaappy New Year! 😀
I know right?! Bit crazy!! I’m SO lucky to have won that epic stack. IT JUST ABOUT MADE MY LIFE. *hugs books* I basically do not need to go searching for books until March now. hehh. (Pfft, but of course I will…because…book love.)
Oh oh good luck with your degree!! I can imagine life will get a bit busy and intense for you then?!
Yep. You are.
Yeah, I’ve heard it’s quite a headache but that’s what I want to do. So umm.. we’ll see what happens. 🙂
OOH CONGRATS ON THE BOOK SHIMMY AWARDS AND THE PHOTO SHARING! YOU DESERVE IT! *throws confetti and gives you cake*
And ahhh so many good books! I HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM! I’m currently reading Talon and I love it and I LOVE GARRET! Also, my goal is 50 books! I have so much school work coming up so I don’t think I’ll be able to read much *cries*
*EATS CAKE* *SHARES CAKE WITH YOU BECAUSE IS NICE* Oh oh you love Talon?! OH PRAISE THE BOOKISH UNIVERSE! I adore Talon but almost everyone I know hates it. Whyyyy?!? It’s so funny and DRAGONY. Ah, school. It is a mean time-eater, isn’t it?!
Congrats on making it to the final round! I will vote and vote for you!
I am going to try, let me take that back, I am going to read 100 books this year. I mean, I have a whole year ahead of me, so why not?
My first read of 2016 is Divergent by Veronica Roth and it is so good! I am on page 426 and I am so close to getting done! I want to try and get done today.
I think I would take the Hunger Games stack even though I already have the whole Hunger Games series. 😀
SQUEEE THANK YOU MADDIE!! *gives you cake*
OH OH. YOU GOT THIS!! 100 is a great number. *nods* And it’s basically 2 books a week, right?! Which isn’t too crazy! AHhhh!! I love Divergent! Are you going to see the movies?!? They are pretty epic too. 😜
You are welcome! I love reading, so I know that I will get to 100! I just got done with Divergent this morning, so I have 99 to go! 😀 I haven’t seen any of the Divergent movies, but I want to see the first movie now since I have gotten done with the book. 🙂
CONGRATS ON BEING IN THE FINALISTS!!!!! *flails* OF COURSE I totally already voted. Best of luck to you!!!! (You totally deserve it!!!)
Such a great book haul, sweets! I really enjoyed First & Then, so I guess my vote would be that you read that one first. 🙂
Hope you have a FANTASTICAL weekend!!! 🙂
AFJALDKSFD THANK YOU LISA!!😊 I still can’t quite believe I’m in the finals. AHHH!!!
First & Then is a perfect book to read first. HEHEHEH. *dies because of own incredible lame jokes*
I read somewhere around three hundred books last year, but that’s a rough estimate because I’ve only been keeping track of my books since September. But since then I’ve read an adverage of 25.25 books, and times 12 that is 303 books.. So this year I’m going to be crazy and say I want to read 400.
Yep. And, once again, congratulations on the boo shimmy award, Cait! I’m sure it’s a ton of publicity.
OMG YOU GOT THIS!! 400 would like fry me, 😂 BUT I SO ADMIRE YOU!! Someone I know did 400 easily last year. And I think someone else was aiming for 1000? But I’m not sure if they got there. hehhhh.
AND YES OMG. My blog stats have boomed lately. 😳😱
All the movies/show/books LOOK SO GOOD!! EEP! I’M SO EXCITED!! And, voted for your feet!!
YAY THANK YOU. MY FEET THANK YOU. I THANK YOU. CAKE THANKS YOU.
*cackles at Supernatural reference because I have tooootally not done that myself every time I hear the title, nope, no way*
“The 5th Wave” trailer looks SO. GOOD. It has a freaky zombie feel but with subtle aspects that remind me of The Host. And The Host was a big pile of yes, so I’m hoping this will be, too.
YOU’RE BACK ON WATTPAD?!?! ‘SCUSE ME WHILE I FLAIL.
Every. single. time. AM I RIGHT?! I just cannot even look at that book without busting into song. AND THEN CRYING BECAUSE CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON MEANS BAD THINGS. IT DOES.
I really need to read The 5th Wave. AGH. *flaps about trying to do everything*
YES YES I AM. Omg, I would soooo love your feedback. I WOULD. *chews nails in anticipation*
It’s curious to me that of the four potential book nerds, only one is known for their incredible blogging instead of their youtube videos. Aside from the nomination (WHICH I TOTALLY VOTED FOR YOU!), it’s also really quite impressive to be the only blogger nominated. Good luck 🙂
Ikr?!? Where are all the other bloggers?! I heard though, from an Epic Reads tweet, that next year they’re going to have a section for bloggers…so hopefully we’ll see more blogger representation! THANKS FOR THE VOTE. YOU ARE SO NICE. <3
Happy new year Cait!! It’s so cool that you’re a Book Shimmy finalist 😀 (and you totally deserve it!)
And I’m secretly glad I’m not the only one who disliked This Is Where the World Ends. I loved loved LOVED Falling Into Place but this one just didn’t do it for me 🙁 I just felt pretty disconnected from it all and it didn’t take my breath away like FIP. I’m curious to see your review of it, since so far I haven’t really been able to conjure up the right words to talk about it. (maybe because I’m still not sure “what* exactly I didn’t like – I’ve found it kind of hard to put into words)
and as always I’m so jealous of your amazing bookstagram photos. TEACH ME YOUR SECRETS.
YAY THANK YOU, CELINE!! Awww…I’m still really really surprised I’m on there?! And those booktubers are kinda famous compared to me so WE’LL SEE.😉 It’s been amazing so far anyway.
Omg, GOOD. I’m so relieved you didn’t like This is Where The World Ends. It was so…gah. Scattered? And the ending was rushed. And the characters were so HORRIBLE to each other, how am I supposed to care about them?! least to say my review will be quite ranty once it gets to the blog. *hangs head*
1) Plastic library covers or the library stickers absolutely ruin photos. Gah. 2) Read Mara Dyer if you’re in the mood for a wonderfully creeptastic psychological thriller. 3) I’ve set my Goodreads reading challenge to 100 books so I can surpass it, because overachieving always feels good. 😀 Cheers to what 2016 is going to bring us! And hooray on you being so popular, what with the Book Shimmy Awards and being on Facebook and having all those Instagram followers! 😀
THEY DO. I think librarians have evil intentions sometimes. Sheeeesh. And I think I should go for Mara Dyer next because it’s a library book anyway and it’ll have to go back soon. hehh. IT’s SO HUGE THOUGH. Those books are sure getting lengthy. *gulps* Good luck with your goal! I’m glad I’m not the only one who lives to surpass their goals. 😉
ERAGMERD. It has been a good last couple of weeks, that’s for sure! SSQUEEE.
Awesome haul of books. Imposter Queen was so good. I hope you love it.
Grace @ Books of Love
OH OH THAT IS GLORIOUS NEWS!! The blurb sounds insanely wonderful. And QUEENS. Love queens. <3
I keep saying this but I’m soooo excited to see what you think of Carry On. Have a happy New Year!
EEEEP. I really hope I like it!! I’ve heard only positive stuff so…it’s gotta be good, right?!
Aiming for the usual 52 books…20,000 pages and clearing more books off my TBR piles. 🙂
Have an amazing cake-filled year, Cait.
GOOD LUCK, TERRI! I’m aiming to get on top of my unread books too *nods* Like my physical TBR isn’t too wild?! But I’d like to see it really managed instead of crazy this year. 😉
I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE YOU READ SO MANY BOOKS IN 2016. DO YOU HAVE MORE HOURS IN THE DAY THAN THE REST OF US??! If so, could I borrow some, please? I’d give you cake. And a dragon. Okay, okay TWO dragons, if you insist.
Happy New Year, Cait! Best of luck for 2016, I hope it treats you well in all your reading, writing and blogging endeavors!
Oh, and I’ve voted for you in every single round as I believe that you would most certainly be a worthy winner of that award. 🙂
I HAVE MORE DRAGONS. MORE DRAGONS TO HELP ME READ BOOKS. *nods* But hey I don’t have school!! That sucks up a lot of time, right?! Hehhhhh. *AHEM*
*sprinkles new years cake in your hear* I hope your 2016 is AWESOME too.
Aww. I shall just blush now. I’m really excited about that award!! Everyone has been SO SO NICE.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I’m really excited to know what you’ll think of Carry On and The Evolution of Mara Dyer. I’m going to buy the Mara Dyer trilogy in a month or two, if not sooner, and I’m nervous but excited and gah, I don’t know what to expect. I’m setting my Goodreads goal for 175 books, and I want to try to read more, but I’d rather overachieve than fail to reach my goal, so yeah, 175 it is. I do want to push myself, and my schedule is such that I will have more reading time, at least, I think. But since I’m writing full-time now, I do need to focus on that predominantly. So yeah.
Right now I’m reading Across the Universe by Beth Revis. I got the whole trilogy for Christmas, and I’d been drooling over it for more than a year, so I was super duper excited. It’s gotten a lot of bad reviews, from what I’ve seen, but I’m really loving it so far, which further proves my hypothesis that maybe I tend to love books that people hate.
That’s how I felt before starting Mara Dyer!! But I LOVEd the first book. The only thing that scares me is how darn huge they are. Sheesh. Why can’t people write small books? BIG BOOKS HURT MY POOR DELICATE WRISTS. *collapses like a delicate flower*
And overachieving is the way when it comes to setting goals. Mwahhaaha. *hi fives*
That is so awesome that you’re writing full time. I mean, I technically am supposed to be? bUT I DON’T. Hence I want to make it more of a priority this year instead of putting ALL my writerly effort into my blog. *nods*
I really want to read Across the Universe. And you like it?! OKAY DEFINITELY GOING ONTO MY TO DO LIST THIS YEAR. It’s one of those ones I’ve heard of forever but never even touched. Slacker me. XD
LOVE, AUBREY? YESSS! I read that book in elementary school because I had been scouring all of the shelves everywhere for a book with a character named Aubrey. It is so good (as far as I can remember), also sad BUT MOSTLY GOOD. My first book of 2016 was Queen of Shadows and now I am rereading The Fault in Our Stars, and I started The Assassin’s Blade at the same time, because why not (I don’t usually read more than one book at a time, but I was needing different books to switch between and they are super different…) I hope to read 100 books this year. It’s a little high for me, but I think I can do it because I exploded my previous records this year (2015), so I’m sure I will do even better in 2016.
Good luck with the 100 books goal! YOU GOT THIS! *flails for you* I almost always double my reading goals?! But this year I’m trying to back off and just enjoy books and not make it such a competition. hehe. I am SO competitive with myself it’s a problem. AHHH TFIOS REREADS ARE THE BEST. And by “best” I mean the “worst” because teeeeears. *gives you chocolate just because*
I am super competitive with myself too *sighs*. But perhaps that’s good. It definitely motivates me more. I’m not prepared… :'( Thanks for the chocolate!
*cough* maybe I did not sing that line out loud when I read it *cough*
The Carry On line? YOU BETTER HAVE. (Wait do you watch Supernatural?!??! AWK. IF YOU DO WE HAVE SO MUCH TO FANGIRL OVER.)
nuuu I don’t watch it but maybe I still like the song XD I will sing it every time I read it.
I didn’t think it’d be your thing. 😉 hehe. BUT THAT SONG. Forever sing it if someone says “carry” basically.
HSAGJD A THRONE OF GLASS COLORING BOOK!!!!! yessssss pleaasee! I am now obsessed with Throne Of Glass, after finishing the first two books, I have now officially fallen in love. Not to mention I love art, almost as much as I love books. But not really, because I love books far more than anything in this universe. Well maybe dragons are an exception. And food. This year I would like to read 100 books, I don’t really know whether this is a big goal or a small goal for me, because I have never counted how many books I have read before…. This is my first year with a blog, so I didn’t know people really did that sort of thing… whoops. I feel like 100 books is a reachable goal for me though! My first read of 2016 shall be Magnus Chase and the Sword Of Summer. This wasn’t the original plan. but I have it in HARDCOVERRRRR so I think it is a sign from the Gods that it must be read immediately…
I think it’s awesomeness how so many books are getting colouring-in books now. xD PLEASE SOMEONE DO ONE FOR A MAGGIE STIEFVATER BOOK. *gets on knees and begs the universe*
Good luck with your goal!! 100 is an AWESOME number. *nods sagely* And I only started doing goals 3 years ago, and now they’re my staple but before that? Pfft, I have no idea how many books I read per year. 😉
MAGNUS CHASE!! EXCELLENT LIFE DECISION!!
THE DEAD BOY AND THE PAPER CUT IS BACK?!?! XD XD XD
…Ahem. I’m only going for 100 books again this year (only, she says). Magnus Chase is probably going to be my first read, if a manga book doesn’t beat it, that is. 😉 Thanks for linking that Trials of Apollo extract – I needed that in my life. 🙂 Bring on May.
YES IT IS BACK AND IT IS CALLING FOR YOUR INPUT AND CRITIQUES SO GO WILD MY RAINY FRIEND. I shall give cake for input. That’s a fair trade? I KNOW IT IS.
Oh oh Magnus is a PERFECT way to start off the year. :’)
I am planning to read 80 books this year. I am a master at aiming low so that I can “surprise” myself by overachieving. I would love to read 100 books, but I do not know if that is going to happen with the busy year I am going to have. Sigh.
I hope you can reach your goal of 200 books. Good luck with editing and writing too!
My first read of 2016 is An Ember in the Ashes. I think I might have picked that wrong book to start the year because it is not thrilling me so far. It was on my list for “must read in 2015. That did not turn out well though. But, my second read of the year is going to be Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and I AM READY for the heartwarming fluff.
Overachieving is the BEST though, right?! I only aimed for 150 last year even though I KNOW I always read more than that. hehe. So aiming for the 200 is a teeny tiny bit more of a higher goal for me? And hopefully I’ll only rEAD 200 books and be satisfied with myself for that. 😉
I honestly didn’t like An Ember in the Ashes either. I thought maybe the hype ruined it for me? But plot. holes. Nothing in the world makes sense. Bleh.
HIGH FIVE TO MY READ-LESS-IN-2016 BUDDY! 😉
WE GOT THIS! (We can be competitive about who reads less?! Mwhaha. I am just kidding. That would still not work.😑😉)
Hah, it might almost work. XD
HAPPY NEW YEAR! 😀
Yay new Goodreads challenge! 😀 (I actually don’t like orange. Don’t shoot me! I’m more of a green and blue sort of person… Buuut if I decide it’s a sunset orange, maybe you and Peeta together can make me like it?)
I totally voted. (I don’t even need cake BECAUSE YOU ARE JUST AWESOME.)
GORGEOUS BOOK STACKS. Pictures of stacks of books make me happy.
I died over what you said about Roald Dahl’s books/TV. SO TRUE! XD
I love that “books take you places” photo. OF COURSE YOUR PHOTOS ARE WORTHY OF 12K LIKES. <3
I need to read The Dead Boy and the Paper Cut as soon as I find time. GOOD LUCK WITH EDITS!
My first read was a 400+ page book by Diana Wynne Jones called Fire and Hemlock whis was fabulous and I stayed up till 3:30 a.m. to finish… #priorities (WHO NEEDS SLEEP AHAHAHA)
Also I finished my edits/rewrites for a fairytale retelling novella, which I just sent in to my very first writing contest ever. I'm excited/terrified. REWRITEATHON YAYYY!
I hope you have a fantastic 2016 with lots of wonderful reads and writing and ALL OF THE THINGS! ^_^ <3
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO!! *sprinkles you with new year cake* <-- because NY cake needs to be a thing. It just does. Ahem. Pfft, I shall not shoot you for not liking orange! Peeta and I will go stand in the orange-loving corner together and we totally will be happy. *nods sagely* ZOMG THANK YOU. <3 I was so so surprised though!! I mean, that photo didn't even have a book in it and it wasn't perfectly in focus but just, gahhh, it's really nice to see one's art getting appreciated. :') OH HAAAAPY DAY. Congrats on finishing edits for your novella! THAT IS AMAZING. I shall have my fingers crossed for this contest. GOOD LUCK.
Totally going to vote for you!! I love linky posts like this! I now have a million tabs open on my computer, so excuse me while I delve into the Internet abyss.
~Sara
YAYYY!! I’m so glad. ;D I love posts with a zillion links too, because, omg, I mean, I read so many blogs every day but I STILL feel like I miss out on a ton of news!!
I’m planning to read 100 books (plasters self onto bookshelf)! Ambitious but I feel pretty good about this year. ALSO YOU’RE GOING TO READ LOVE, AUBREY. Will it break your heart? It broke my 12-yr-old heart, which…I don’t know if that says much it’s just I READ THAT BOOK! You know, that feeling?
I’ve just finished A Year of Reading Dangerously by Andy Miller and it’s a book about books and IT’S AWESOME. It described the reading slump I had been going through (and the life slump, trying to get out of that one this year) and I think we can all relate. At the end of it all he was like I’M HOME NOW, I’M BACK TO MYSELF and I was on the verge of tears. (Why are books so moving?!)
AND YAY YOUR BOOK IS BACK. I can’t wait to read some more of it (I suck at criticism on the spot and so be prepared for lots of votes and reaction-comments instead of “ooh, metaphor” comments).
OH YAY BROKEN HEARTS. CAN’T WAIT.😂 Ahem, but seriously now, feels-destroying books always tend to the best so I AM EXCITED. And wooooah, a book about books?! I need to google this A Year of Reading Dangerously asap. Because there’s nothing better than bookish-inception, tbh.
AWK, THANKS THOUGH. *beams happily* It’s exciting and nerve-wracking to get back on wattpad? BUT I’M NOT CHICKENING OUT THIS TIME. *dons armour and picks up war editing axe*
Well of COURSE I voted for you because you make me smile on a regular basis. Good luck and I will try to read the chapters soon 🙂
Jen @ YA Romantics
Aw, thanks, Jen. 🙂 *beams happily*
I’m going to try to read 250 books this year and just…*faints* IT’S SO SCARY OKAY. Also scary is the fact that I’m going to put my NaNo novel up on Wattpad as I edit it and hope it doesn’t suck *too* much. Oh well. So far this year I’ve read Slaughterhouse-Five (incredible) and A Monster Calls (I liked it, but it was a teensy bit disappointing) and I feel like it’s going to be a great year in books. *charges forward into the library*
OH OH YOU SHOULD TOTALLY WATTPAD. Because I am. And it’s scary. And I need the emotionally scare support.😂 Actually it’s kind a good motivation not to slack off on editing? Not that you probably have that problem — BUT I SURE DO. Ooh, go you for 2 books already! I’ve been quite slack and only read one (A Study in Charlotte), hehe, but my blog has been calling to me and needs attention.
AHH. I know I told this to you already and you must be sick of hearing it by now, but congrats on making it into the Book Shimmy finals Cait! I knew you could do it! ♥
And from the summary, The Adoration of Jenna Fox kind of has a Mara Dyer vibe to it, so I’m intrigued to see what you think of it. And yeah for Mara Dyer #2! xD Crossing my fingers it’s as good as the first one. 🙂
Thanks for sharing Cait, and fabulous recap! ♥
PFFFT. WHY WOULD I BE SICK OF HEARING I’M AWESOME?? *preens* 😂😂 JUST KIDDING ZOE. Omg, thank you. <3 I seriously don't expect to win, but the traffic so far has been AWESOME. *flails for 9000 years* I did read Jenna Fox and actually prefer Mara Dyer...but Jenna Fox has WAY less romance, if you're interested. 😉
Look at CarryOn it’s such a wonderful gorgeous book that I can’t believe was actually written. And whoa – that giveaway was the best thing ever. I always think of Supernatural when I see the title too! I just can’t help it.
I think The Imposter Queen will be good although I never give authors second chances. I’m the unforgiving type. Well only if the book was truly horrendous.
A bing bang bog! What!? THIS IS AMAZING. Oh I hope The Wizards of Aus comes to Netflix eventually.
Good luck editing. I know you abhor it but it’s necessary right?
It is kind of weird but awesome Carry On exists. 😂 I’m so sooo curious…and I’m reading it RIGHT NOW. So fingers crossed I like it. xD *hums Carry On My Wayward Son*
I tend to always give authors second chances unless I’m in a rage? And then I’m less likely. 😂 But the other Sarah Fine book I read I gave 3-stars, so it wasn’t AWFUL but didn’t do anything for me either. I GOTTA TRY AGAIN. *nods sagely*
Congratulations on all your successes this year! I am loving the orange, too. At the beginning of the school year I designed the large bulletin board in our hallway to be “Reading Takes You Places” with 11 popular YA novels attached with string to which city/country they are set in. I’m staying with my “safe” goal of 52 books, and first up is The Sound of the Stones by Beth Hammond.
OMG THAT’S AWESOME THAT YOU DESIGNED THAT BULLETIN BOARD!! *flails* And 52 books is a grand goal. A FABULOUS goal. Best of luck!!
First and foremost – YOUR INSTAGRAM FEED GIVES ME LIFE! (Which is good, because I’ve taken to machines. More on that in a second.)
Every year I plan on reading 100 books, and every year that seemed sensible until YOU came along, and now I am a failing potato of failure. If I do NaNoWriMo twice, as I’ve taken to doing, I struggle to make 100. But there Cait is, writing 50k in 5 days and reading 300+ books and TEACH ME, SENSEI! I’d offer my soul, except I mortgaged it for an ARC. But I HAVE CHOCOLATE CAKE!
My first read of 2016 was Illuminae. I gobbled it up, I FELL IN LOVE SO HARD I PERIODICALLY GLOMPED THE BOOK (AIDAN IS MY MURDEROUS BABY!) and now the book hangover is strong in this one. HOW WILL I EVER READ AGAIN? HOW WILL I LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT IT? WHAT IS LIFE? HELP!!!
PFFFT. You are a wonderful potato. I am just a supreme potato. *flips hair* BAHAH BUT SERIOUSLY NOW. Writing is like my big focus because I wanna be published and reading counts as writing research, ergo work? (This is so legit.) So I do have a lot of time for it! BUT YEAH. I mean, also selling one’s soul is a legit option. Also hiring dragons to read on your behalf.
ILLUMINAE IS EVERYTHING.
I am currently reading two books – one of which I started in 2015 so that doesn’t count. The other is a nonfic book about adult life and shit – but good and interesting!
I set my Goodreads goal for 100 books. I’ve never done this challenge so I don’t know how many books I normally read in a year, but I think 100 is a good place to start. 🙂
Yay for wanting to write more though! I hope to do that this year too since I’m now finished with school. 🙂
-Lauren
WOOT! Sounds great. 😀 And 100 books is an awesomely grand amount (there’s just something about the number 100?!?! It’s marvellous.)
I want to read 150 books, which I will probably do, but I refuse to be stressed about meeting my goodreads challenge. M first read was the Girl at Midnight, which was pretty dang awesome. Jenna Fox is amazing, also sad. One of my main goals for this year is to not be overcommitted because I don’t want to stress, and to edit before chasing New Shiny Idea and to blog consistently and review creatively and not be afraid of trying new things. Happy new year Cait! May it be a wonderful one filled with words and delight and good surprises *toasts* (don’t worry it’s non-alcoholic fejoia juice)
Ooh, I need to read Girl at Midnight! I hear good And bad about it so so much, so clearly I just have to read it and make up my own mind. 😂 Oh that is SUCH a good goal *nods* I need to make a goal to branch out and not just read all the time some year but…pfft. Not this year. BUT YEAH. I don’t want to stress over reading either!! Because it takes the fun out of it, right?! Happy new year to you too!! *toasts you with pineapple juice*
Great list of books so far, the prize pile looked interesting and I too am looking forward to the Wizard of Aus (it looks hilarious). It’s almost as though they made it just for me 🙂
I know right?! IT LOOKS SO TACKY AND AWESOME. I love how Australians manage to have that kind of humour. :’)
I really hope you’ll win the book award!
I agree the orange on goodreads looks awesome. You’ve already read one book this year? I shouldn’t be surprised I know. But I am. Lol. I chose to start a long book for the beginning of the year. I’m read the first in the Bourne series by Robert Ludlum.
SQUEE, THANKS ABI. <3 I totally am in love with orange. It is like the colour of wonderfulness which makes me feel good about this years books. 😂 Oh oh do you like the Bourne books?! I've heard they're super different to the movies but I still want to read them because I LOVE THE MOVIES.
They are super different, but not different at the same time. It’s weird and I haven’t been able to explain it to anyone yet. But basically I love both the books and the movies. Both are good. 😀
I just voted for you, that is so awesome you made it into the finals, I hope you win! I plan on reading 150 books this year. I usually read 100, and last year I only managed 85, but I have so many good books that I own that I want to read I decided to strive big this year.
I can’t wait to read your story on Wattpad, I’ll pop over there when I have more time. I plan on joining Wattpad this year, when I get a bit more time.
Happy New Yea.r, I hope 2016 is a wonderful year for you.
EEEEEP. I hope you like it if you do get a chance to read it (srsly though, no pressure! 😂) and if you want to give me any critiques/pointers. I AM ALL EARS. And 85 books is still awesome, right?!?! I read a statistic somewhere that said most people only read 2 books a year. *dies a little* I can’t imagine living like that. :O
Happy new year to you too!
Ahhhh, Before I Fall is going to be a movie?!?!? That is the BEST NEWS EVER! I absolutely loved that book, so I may need to reread this one. I am disappointed that you didn’t like the new Amy Zhang book. I loved the last one, so I was looking forward to this one. D’oh! I read 239 books in 2015, but my goal was 150. So I surpassed it. Yay! Part of me wants to try to beat myself, but part of me wants to . . . not?? That’s why I set my goal at 200. I figure that would be a doable goal. And if I surpass my goal again, then so much the better. As you know from Twitter, my first book of the year was Illuminae. Holy crap, that was a good book. I finished it on New Years’ Day and I am still recovering. I NEED THE SEQUEL!!
I need to read Before I Fall. Seriously, omg, how have I read 300 books last year AND STILL FEEL BEHIND?!?!! *dies* But yes, I’m really annoyed at myself for not liking the new Amy Zhang book either. I mean…it’s totally her style. But I didn’t like the message/characters at all. I’m probably a minority though? (I totally know what you mean about wanting-but-not-wanting to beat your reading goal. 😂 ME TOO.)
I typed a comment and it all made sense and was glorious and then for some reason it was deleted. Ugh.
Basically: you’re a queen, my puny Goodreads challenge is for 75 books (25 more than last year) and I can’t wait for all the awesome books coming out!
Also: I really want to read those chapters of yours but it’ll have to wait until my library books are done. For some silly reason our library only allows me to extend once (and they also have those INFURIATING plastic covers. gaaaaaah!)
Omg, you’re the second person that’s happened to recently. *cries* I’m so sorry! I really hope it’s not my blog, but in case it is, I’ll glare at WordPress on your behalf. *nods because this is a fabulous idea* AHEM. But thank you for commenting twice! YOU ARE SERIOUSLY SO NICE. <3 And I totally know what you mean about the library. Omg, my library is SO NICE over the Christmas holidays though!! We get like 6 weeks instead of 3! *parties*
You’ll be happy to know that I have already voted for you as book-shimier supreme XD
Happy 2016 ♥ You got tons of spectacular looking books!! I NEED CARRY ON in my life!! Gah! I can’t wait to see how you make out with it. Not…like literally. Obviously. Although I’m not one to judge *sneaks away to kiss favorite books*
And don’t even get me started on all the awesome movies coming out this year – I mean beyond ALL OF THE AWESOME BOOKS coming out. I.can’t.even. *squee* Happy reading/watching/writing/shimmying Cait! xx
*shimmies quietly amongst piles of books* WHY THANK YOU, MICHELINE. I appreciate it a monstrous amount. And yesss, I need to get reading ASAP and devour these beauties. I just started Carry On! AM EXCITE.
Good luck on 200! I set my goal at 100 because I’ll be going to college for the first time in the fall and I’m not sure how much time I’d be having for reading!
I recently got a copy of Carry On and I can’t wait to start it because I’ve heard nothing but good things. *happy dances* I HOPE WE BOTH LOVE IT.
Also, congrats on being a Book Shimmy finalist!
Oooh, congrats on going to college and good luck!! *breaks out the cake to celebrate on your behalf* I’ve heard pretty good things about Carry On too. ;D So hopefully I love it and am not a grumpy minority, hehe.
Yes, can’t wait to read more of The Dead Boy and The Paper Cut!
I LOVE YOUR WRITING SO MUCH!
Also, right now I’m currently reading Winter, and it is beyond amazing! What did you think of it?
*PARTIES WILDLY IN THE CORNER* OMGGGGG. THANK YOU. <3 THIS LITERALLY MAKES MY DAY!!!! AHHHHH!!! Ahem. So yes. Winter. I LOVED IT. I don't think it was the best book? But I still loved it.
Oo, I do hope you review Carry On. I’ve been curious about this book, but standoffish because. . . Contemporary. I’ve a hopeless DNF history with the contemporary. . . Maybe I just need to be more committed to the books I start. But I don’t like making promises I can’t keep, especially to books.
You say you “need more unstable narrations and weird mind twistery books,” so you have to watch the new Sherlock. Just pretend you’re reading one of those kind of books and all will be well. 😉
I actually just reread and read all of TDBATPC a little while ago. I was reading Rebel Heart, and the chapter was massively long, so my mind wandered and I remembered I hadn’t read about Thomas yet. Obviously, I had to drop everything and fix that. I might have left a few fangirly, comments.
Okay, a lot.
No apologies.
Well, Carry On is kind of not contemporary because: MAGICCCC. *parties* So I just started it and right now it feels like a Harry Potter rip off 😂 But I’m going in with an open mind! I probably won’t review it on the blog? But it’ll be on goodreads and maybe my tumblr *nods*
OH OH I do need to watch the new Sherlock. Soooomeday. *flaps about trying to get everything done*
AFKLDASFD I LOVED ALL YOUR COMMENTS ON TDBATPC. Thank you. <3 It basically had me squawking and flailing like a deluded penguin. My day = MADE. I LIKE YOU.<333
UGHHH!!!! I feel your hate for plastic covers on library books, I know that they keep them cleaner and then they last longer. Why on earth would the library care about something so practical when they obviously need to put more consideration into how the books look when photographed? I am aiming to read 75 books this year so I can focus on other things, like writing and school.
I’m sure librarians do them TO CURSE ALL THE BOOKSTAGRAM PHOTOGRAPHERS EVERYWHERE. *Collapses raging* (Actually, you’re totally logically right…probably to keep them clean. *LE SIGH*)
I can only dream about reading 200 books a year. I’m amazed by your speed, Cait. I’ve only read 50 books in 2015, and I’m afraid next year I won’t have much time to read too. Real life gets into the way. As a result I became pickier with my reading choices. Congratulations on Shimmy Awards, I’ve already voted.
Life is a tricky beast like that and demands attention. *nods sagely* But, pfft, 50 books or 300…it doesn’t really matter so long as we love the books and love reading, right?!?! *hi fives for book love*
Yes! The Dead Boy and the Papercut. I’m totally there and reading it. Your books are always so good. How many books am I planning on reading this year? ALLLLLLLLL the books. I haven’t read enough books in forever (actually, is there such a thing as enough books? I somehow don’t think there is).. Also, those Instagram pics. If I were on Instagram, I would follow you for all those gorgeous photos!
AFJDKSALD THANK YOU IMOGEN. <3 If you have any critiques, let 'em at me. ;D Oh oh and I totally think one cannot read enough books. TOTALLY. I mean, I read 300 last year (I admit, that was insane) and I still feel behind. HOW DOES ONE CATCH UP?!?! OMG.
Congrats on getting into the finals of the book shimmy awards. You totally deserve it.
I wish I could read more than 100 books a year – haha I just cannot seem to do that..
You have recieved so many pretty books I am so jelly.
Thanks for an awesome post. Hope you have an amazing 2016.
But 100 books is really AMAZING when you think about it, right?! I read a statistic somewhere that said most people read 1 book a year, maybe 2. IT BOGGLES MY MIND.
I”m confused about the Hunger Games prequels, as well. On one hand, this sounds similar to what J.K. Rowling is doing. On the other hand, how much is Collins actually involved? Plus, I think part of the beauty of the Hunger Games is you don’t really see how the world “came to be” that way. I think if we look too closely it might not actually make sense. 😉
If Collins was actually involved, it’d make sense. But I didn’t seen any indication that she would be?? Plus she kinda opted out of the last movies (I think?) and hasn’t written aNY books since. Whereas JK Rowling is actually still writing and participating in the world…SO YEAH THAT’S WHY I FEEL BAD ABOUT IT.
I’m shooting for 200 books this year, too.
I voted for you for the Book Shimmy Award! 🙂 Good luck!
I know exactly what you mean when it comes to Carry On! 🙂
WOOT. WE ARE TWINS IN THE BOOK GOALS! *hi fives*
I haven’t read Carry On yet either — I want so much to love it! Does that make sense…?
It makes sense. 😀 I’m reading it right now actually. Like 2 chapters in. So far it smells like Harry Potter but I DO so love Rainbow Rowell’s writing.
SOOO I thought I wouldn’t be joining the Goodreads challenge because the idea of having to meet a goal freaks me out BUT then I thought it would be encouraging to have a target so I went for a reasonable 50. Now I know 50 is a minuscule amount compared to your 300 (?!!!) but I think it’s a realistic one for me 😀 Also, congrats on being a finalist!! Of course, i voted for you.
Pfft, 50 is GRAND. And I don’t have a life, let’s be real here. 😂 GO AWESOME ATTAINABLE GOALS! WOOT!
TIME FOR TEA AND CAKE. (So I literally just wrote that because, and then I realized how punny it is because I’m drinking tea atm and reading Cake’s awesome new post. xD) OKAY AHEM. here. GIRL, YOU TOTALLY DESERVED A BREAK. Like, I don’t even know how you can STAND reading any blogs after reading 300 books. Like, do your eyes ever get sore??? >.< Mine would. hehe. It's actually kind of funny to me how the idea of you reading 200 books in a year is like *shrugs* normal. LIKE HOW IS THIS NORMAL IT'S NOT. You are superwoman, but I already said that once. IT BEARS REPEATING. A lot. Because.
Oh and about the book awards thing…is it legal to just vote for the blogger section and just vote for you? Becuase I like didn't vote for any authors or books or any of that shtuff…I just skipped to the end. (< what I do with books, too. *eats all the spoilers*) OKAY I'M READY FOR MY LIGHTLY TOASTED CAKE NOW.
OH OKAY SO I KNOW YOU'RE A serious (gonna stop shouting heh) admirer of purty book covers, but like I also want to scream over how BEAUTIFUL THOSE BINDERS ARE. Like…do binders get as much squishy love as covers?!? idek. you would know better than I. xD BUT YOUR STACKS ARE SO YUMMY. ♥ Okay so I was just glancing at the book-to-movies in 2016 article there and this is so random, but — RANSOM RIGGS SOUNDS LIKE A FREAKING SUPERHERO NAME. okay done.
FKLSAMDKLSHKFNLSANN DUDE YOU AMAZING PERSON. I'm on your blogger love list! *screams into a pillow because my Pineapple Queen mentioned me akackcakcccacckkkk* I AM HAPPY. oooh and girl that facebook share is SO EXCITING. eep! ^.^ EEEE STORY STORY STORY. Also Wattpad mystifies me like a vending machine that my four-year-old self isn't allowed to play with. DO YOU LIKE IT. HOW IS IT. IS THERE LIKE AN ACTUAL COMMUNITY OR IS IT LIKE AN ARCHIPELAGO OF LONELINESS WHERE YOU ARE ENTIRELY DEPENDENT ON YOUR OWN SUBJECTS TO ACTUALLY FIND YOUR THING? (okay yeah that totally did not require all caps but it happened aHEM.)
wuv dis. 😉
love,
abbiee
BLOGGING IS ALWAYS BEST WITH TEA AND CAKES, LET’S BE REAL HERE. *nods sagely* (Also I haven’t forgotten your email!! I swear!! I’ve just been a scatter-brained guava lately. *facepalm*) Ahem, but anyway. And yes my eyes do get sore and I get exhausted!! The other day I read 100+ blogs trying to catch up on comment-back-and-replies and GAH YEAH IT WAS INTENSE. So plus reading and writing onto that and somedays I just collapse. 😂 But it’s worth it in the end.
I think it’s legal to vote like that?! Bahah, I HAVE NO IDEA.
Zomg, I agree. Ransom Riggs IS a superhero name. It is as awesome as Lemony Snicket. NOT EVEN JOKING HERE. As for wattpad, omg, I have no idea. I guess there is a community? But I am like a little archipelago of loneliness and I just demand my followers go read instead of connecting with actual wattpad-people. So I am ENTIRELY dependent on you peoples. I AM.
PfFFFT. WHO IS THE AMAZING ONE?!?! EXCUSE ME? HOW ABOUT YOU AND YOUR NEW SINGLE. *gives you cake*
Congrats on making the final, that’s so awesome!!! I voted for you!!!! =D It was cool to see you on the list along with three of my favourite booktubers too.I saw that post on Facebook and knew I recognised it! HOW COOL!!! =D I am still aiming to read 100 books in 2016, the same as last year. It’s a low number compared to some but with work and other commitments, it’s probably all I can manage haha. Plus there’s always the chance I read more than that and then I feel I accomplished something 😉 I hope you enjoy your books 🙂 Happy new year Cait!!!
YAYYY THANK YOU FOR THE VOTE, YOU FINE BEAN. <3 But zomg I don't stand a chance with those famous booktubers! 😂 But that's fine by me, I'm just happy I made it into the finals. *commences happy dance* I think 100 books is a FABULOUS number and really manageable too, right?! One year I'm just gonna read 100 books and actually just be really chill about reading instead of so intense. ONE DAY. 😂
Same as every year, I’m aiming for 100 books this year…but I haven’t read any books this year, yet.
I dunno, I just haven’t been in the reading mood.
It sucks.
That Wizards of Aus trailer looked pretty funny…if we could get SBS2 where I live then I would totally watch it.
THRONE OF GLASS COLOURING BOOK???
Ok, I’m excited.
I do understand the non-reading-mood. That was me over Christmas!😂 So I just quit and had a break….aaaand binge watched a lot of TV shows. nO REGRETS. Sometimes it’s nice to have a change right?! 😉
Happy 2016! I’d never heard of the Shimmy Awards before, but I’m glad you’re a finalist. I want to do more writing this year, too, and I hope we can both do that! I think it’s a great idea to be posting chapters of your book- I’m looking forward to reading them!
Just looked into the Shimmy Awards. That’s amazing! It won’t load for me, but I got the gist by looking at last year’s winners. What of yours was featured?
Oh my entire blog is featured! ;D I’m up for “booknerd of the year” along with a toooon of really famous booktubers. eheh. So I don’t expect to win but the honour so far is INCREDIBLE. *flails*
Congrats! You’re def one of the bigger bloggers I know of but you’re the best of them because you actually respond to your comments and sometimes find the time to comment back =P
I feel like I haven’t been on your blog in awhile, and already fabulous posts are coming up! ONLY 200 BOOKS? HAHAH well, I bet I bet you will exceed it because you read SERIOUSLY FAST. LIKE THE FLASH. ONLY INSTEAD OF RUNNING, YOU READ. And and your photos are SO PRETTY. You are like the Instagram shifu HEHEHE. Anyway, YES LIBRARY BOOKS WITH PLASTIC COVERS ARE ANNOYING. They mess up the lovely picture UGH,
I hope you have a great 2016 😉
BAHAH, YOU ARE SO NICE. 😂 But hopefully I’ll slow down a bit if I’m only aiming for 200 books?! And like…idek…GO OUTSIDE AND LOOK AT A CLOUD OR SOMETHING. 😂😂
HI! I am so far behind on life, but I couldn’t let your weekly post go by without a comment, mostly because it has been open as a tab in Chrome for about a full week. I need help.
ANYWAY. So the voting has ended, I see. No worries, I voted all the times. So did Val. Actually, Val may have voted even more than I did, I have to give credit where it’s due. She was kind of a voting machine. So now, my fingers are crossed for you!! I am sad about This is Where the World Ends. SO sad. Now, I did not like Falling INto Place because that Liz Emerson was NOT good people, but I liked the writing, so I hoped for the best. Now I am mad at the Edelweiss. They pressured me into it, I tell you!
I am excited for Before I Fall, I loved that book. Pretty excited about The 5th Wave, since I think it may make a better movie than book anyway (I know, I know, blasphemy). OH and A Monster Calls! I mean, I am just glad that Patrick Ness is getting all the love he deserves, basically. And Allegiant… that should be a nice big mess, yes? I have never heard of this book called Nerve though. ::Shrugs::
Oh and my Goodreads goal? 145. Because last year I read 144, and I need to read MORE. Also, is the orange you like similar to Peeta’s? Orange like the sunset? If so, it’s just one more reason we are friends. If not… I won’t hold it against you.
I’ve finally come back to the blogging world and I’m working on catching up after a holiday hiatus. XD Wow 200 books?! I’m only going for 35 since I’m a slow reader. ^ ^’ I haven’t completed any books yet, but I’m half through two books right now. Hunger Games prequels? Wow. I wonder what they would do for those … Best wishes with editing. ^ ^
Also the deadline for that collab post we talked about is coming up on January 17. ^ ^ I emailed you, but I thought I’d give you a nudge here too. I’m excited to read your entry!
