One thing I say quite often is “Oh I love this author SO MUCH and want to read everything they ever write!”
Which is very heartfelt of me but also such a huge lie, WOW CAIT. I mean the wanting part isn’t the lie. I do want to read everything they ever write. But most of the time I (A) have ample opportunity to do so as they often have plenty of backlist titles, and yet (B) I proceed to do exactly nothing.
Why??? Why.
Well I made a vague list to make myself feel justified…so here we are:
REASONS I MIGHT NOT HAVE READ ALL BOOKS BY A FAVOURITE AUTHOR
☆ what if I don’t like it as much as the other books of theirs I’ve loved???
☆ their other titles actually aren’t interesting to me? mY BAD
☆ genuinely haven’t. had. a. chance. yet. THERE ARE SO MANY BOOKS TO READ.
☆ I CAN’T FIND IT ANYWHERE. WHERE IS IT. COME BAAAAAACK INTO PRINT.
☆ I’m procrastinating it for genuinely no good reason. This is just who i am as a person.
☆ I didn’t realise they had more books out…because apparently I never pay attention to anything.
Regardless of all those pretty excuses…I really need to get my life together and read more of my favourite authors’ books!! So today I’m writing a little list of ones I need to get to. Soon!! I vaguely promise!!
I actually posted about this last year so this is pretty much part 2! (Last time I mentioned VE Schwab, Patrick Ness Cassandra Clare, Rick Riordan, Neal Shusterman etc etc.) Have things improved from that list now? Lmao. No. But I will mention DIFFERENT authors this time! Just to see how deeply out of control I am!
Top Ten Tuesday: Books By My Favourite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read
1. SUZANNE COLLINS
Aww, I love The Hunger Games! I owe them so much! They not only got me into YA and therefore blogging and I discovered Maggie Stiefvater (aka my favourite author of life) through them so they have a super special place in my heart.
(Awww! Look at me go! I even admitted I have a heart! Cold and gnarly though it be.)
I actually didn’t even KNOW there was so many Gregor books ha. And the first didn’t appeal to me at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
2. LAINI TAYLOR
I love her writing. I’m actually in the midst of rereading Strange the Dreamer and then I’m onto Muse of Nightmares (I’m so freaking lucky my publisher sent me an ARC. Like, mate, author perks of being with an epic publisher.) And I’m so ridiculously in love with the prose?! The style. The characters?! The way the descriptions literally melt in your mouth ahhhhhHHH!H!!!!!
Um, so awkward moment here, but I didn’t even realise she’d written books prior to Daughter of Smoke And Bone. I have failed myself here wow.
I genuinely want to read THEM ALL THOUGH NOW…even though I didn’t even realise she wrote faerie books until 2 seconds ago while getting this post together. Haha…oops.
3. RENEE AHEDIEH
I’m just annoyed at myself about this because I loved The Wrath and the Dawn…fully best read of 2015 (WOAH back when the dinosaurs roamed) but yet I haven’t touched a single other of her books and she has 4 more???? When I went to write this post, I actually thought there were only two more. So they’re popping out of the sNOW LIKE DAISIES NOW.
4. KIERSTEN WHITE
There are some authors who pretty much don’t sleep. THAT’S THE ONLY CONCLUSION I CAN DRAW WOW. Anyway this actually gives me hope because I can’t sleep and like to write things about stabbing so hopefully (!) I will grow up to be like Kiersten White.
I love the Conqueror’s Saga books so much (Lada, stabbing! Radu, cinnamon perfection!) and I’m really excited for Elizabeth Frankenstein…except for that cover. It makes my skin crawl. Apparently people love it?? I might read it as an ebook and save myself. Ha. Yes I am weak apparently.
5. HANNAH MOSKOWITZ
I love finding authors who don’t write “normal” things…like bE STILL MY BEATING HEART. I love how her books are full of monsters and claws and sad boys and sharp girls and so so much diversity and have odd plots that totally capture my heart. Never over Teeth. NEVER OVER IT. That, um, person sobbing in the corner is someone…else.
I actually struggle to find her books for sale in Australia though. What is this failure of a planet we reside on.
(Also ANOTHER AUTHOR WHO DOESN’T SLEEP??)
6. BENJAMIN ALIRE SÁENZ
Most of his backlist titles are in Spanish, adult fiction, or poetry collections sooo…I don’t even know if I’d go back and try to read some?? Maybe this is awful to admit, but I’m really only interested in his new books (AKA THE SEQUEL TO ARI AND DANTE OMG COME TO ME PLEASE).
Although it is nice to remember that authors did, indeed, exist before 2014 when I started reading YA widely. Who would have thought.
7. MARIE RUTKOSKI
Honestly I think I’ll get the award for being the person most surprised by my own post…?? But I had no idea she had other books! I’m actually waiting desperately for her to announce new books because I neeeeeed more. (It’s also been two years?! Which is practically a lifetime for someone who is very very short. Shh. This is logical.) Her older ones appear to be mostly MG too which I don’t usually gravitate to honestly.
8. CORNELIA FUNKE
I FELL IN LOVE WITH MIRRORWORLD. SO HARD. I’m anxiously waiting for book 4 yet it still doesn’t have a release date. And I know this is out of authors’ hands most of the time — but I would sacrifice many chocolates and annoying boys to the trees to get to know what happens next. They were the perfect amounts of MAGICAL and DARK.
As for her other books? Ok going through Goodreads showed me most weren’t in English (I am tragically bound by one language) and also lots of picture books/chapter books. Even if I love an author, I often don’t read their MG selections. I’m sorry. I don’t mind a lot of MG! But mostly I feel too old.
I would like to finish off Inkheart but tbh that’s all.
9. ADAM SILVERA
Look technically ONE BOOK isn’t enough to be on this list…but I just wanted to flail because I love his work so much!! It’s not underrated but can the world ever flail too much over a good book?! I THINK NOT, SIR. So here I am to say that History Is All You Left Me totally smashed my heart and therefore is my favourite.
But this is also 900% of the reason why I am procrastinating More Happy Than Not is because I think I’m going to be More NOT Happy Than Anything Else Thanks Why Are You Like This Mr. Silvera Who Hurt You. (That seems like a good retitling.)
I’m always all “HOLD ON, THEY WROTE THAT BOOK TOO?!” because I’m so terrible at names that I don’t connect the author’s name to the same name on another book. It’s ridiculous. And it happened to me several times in your list here haha.
I still haven’t read Nevernight and Godsgrave, even though I loved Lifel1k3 and the Illuminae Files. I will get there at some stage, I am sure.
Aww I understand that feel!😂 I’m actually strangely good at remembering author’s names = titles = book covers bUT NOT THE CHARACTERS’ NAMES OR THE PLOTS.😂 It’s kind of an extremely backwards system here haha.
Nevernight is AMAZING.
So from your list I can get that you have read all the famous books by these authors (at least I have heard about those 😛 ) SO it’s okay if you haven’t read the lesser known ones considering we have so much to read 😀
I can remember only two such authors for now- John Green and Rainbow Rowell. john green is my favourite and still, I haven’t read all his books. this is worst 😀
I feel like I read the newer books? Because they’re easier to get + I’m more likely to be able to be sent them for review and I don’t have a lot of money for books, so this helps haha.
I still have to read “Carry On” by Rainbow Rowell (shame on me, I know) and Adam Silvera`s “History Is All You Left Me” is also still on my TBR pile. Oh, and also everything by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie because all of her essays in “The Thing Aroung Your Neck” were literally perfection?! And Amanda Lovelace and E. Lockhart and basically every YA author ever… *crawls over to huge TBR pile and chuckles manically*
Omg History Is All You Left Me is my FAVOURITE of the Silvera books!! Definitely recommend. ;D Adn E Lockhard too yep wow…I’ve only read 2 books by her and she has tons too.😂
Wow thanks for making my TBR 100x longer!
I really enjoyed Flame in the Mist, and loved Smoke in the Sun even more, so I really need to read more of Renee Ahedieh’s books.
Cora | http://www.teapartyprincess.co.uk/
Your TBR is most welcome for this suffering.😂😂
I’ve been trying to get through Liani Taylors faerie books for a few months now and just…haven’t lol. They seem good I just know itll take a bit of energy. I definitely knew about most of these but I just don’t htink about them much? I’ve pretty much bandoned Marissa Meyer at this point even though I adored the Lunar Chronicles and I’d love to read more of Helen Dunmore’s adult books. Garth Nix also has HEAPS of books the I haven’t read…and I never finished his w i l d keys to the kingdom series after reading six whole books…but tbh I mostly just like his Old Kingdom books and his short stories. and that’s okay. I have to keep telling myself that. I’d also love to read some more of Nina LaCour’s books and reread the ones I have. Ugh…so many books.
They ARE huge that’s for sure! And very heavily done with the world building and stuff.😂I want to reread the DOSAB trilogy by audio though because I’ve forgotten so much ah ahha. And I will read a Garth Nix book someday *hides*
Nice picks! For me it always comes down to time! There are too many books to read and I love them all and want to read them all and yet I need to sleep and I have to work so errrrgh! There goes the days! It’s easy to fall behind! Then I started thinking I’m going to wait to read this series once it’s all out or the rest of the series and here we are now one or two years later and the series is finished and new series may or may not be almost finished as well. And it’s just so hard! It’s why I’ve tried being pickier about what new books I add to my TBR pile!
Hope you can get around to reading some of these books sometime soon!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Omg yes the time thing is a problem! And like keeping up with the new books + trying to fit in the old ones?! hELP.😂
I need to keep going on the audio books for Gregor – they’re narrated by David Tennant. 🙂
Omg are they?? That might be worth trying then.😂I love his accent.
I really liked Ari and Dante but lost immediate interest in any of the author’s works when it turned out he was awful to reviewers who had written critical/negative reviews.
I really need to get on Cornelia Funke. Inkheart waves at me every time I pass it in the library haha.
Yeah I saw one instance if things getting messy. I don’t know what exactly went down though? I just wish authors wouldn’t interact with negative reviews even though I get it must be gutting to see them. But it’s definitely a place authors don’t belong.
Tbh the only on here that surprised me was Adam Silvera, like you’re constantly flailing about his books yet have one left but I’m not one to judge considering I do that all the time. Some authors I love yet haven’t finished are
-Leigh Bardugo: haven’t read Wonder Woman: Warbringer get
-Rick Riordan: haven’t finished Magnus Chase or Trials of Apollo
-Marissa Meyer: I’ve only the read her four Lunar Chronicles books even though I own Fairest and Heartless
-Laini Taylor: I actually have only read some of Daughter of Smoke and Bone (I had to give it up because it was too big of a commitment at that time) but what I read I really loved
James Dashner: haven’t read the Mortality Doctrine series of The Kill Order
Because see I’m not ready for my hEART TO BE IN TATTERS, FRANK. (Ok but truly I will read More Happy Than Not soon.😂I was going to read it in June for Pride month but somehow it’s, um….nearly October? How did that happen.)
I’m SO behind on all the Riordan books. I don’t even know where to go back to tbh.😂
I want to reread Laini Taylor’s DOSAB books now because I don’t remember them at all.😂
The title of this blogpost is such a #mood. Everytime I read an INCREDIBLE book, I’m like NEW FAVE RIGHT HERE even though I’ve read just one or two books by them. i DEFINITELY need to read some Hannah Moskowitz soon!! SO SOON!! Because I just feel like she could be one of those books that are totally special in their own way and TOTALLY my thing. I just don’t want to test my theory because I’m scared that I’m wrong. lol. I IDOLIZE the book that could be instead of reading it because the fantasy feels so much better that the reality of maybe could be disappointment. DILEMMA. Also, I can’t believe my track record of Cornelia Funke books is 0. She’s so popular and famous in Germany for her children/teens books and I heard great things BUT I JUST DONT READ ANYTHING BY HER. I feel bad.
Yes yes definitely try some Hannah Moskowitz though! Her books are just DIFFERENT and I feel like that’s really special.😂I’m glad she writes. And fajskdla I totally understand about actually just self-hyping a book to be something and then not reading it in case it’s NOT that thing you want it to be.😂
I’m like torn about Cornelia Funke books as you can see.😂Like I ADORE her one trilogy but the other ones haven’t grabbed me so much yet haha.
Omg so many books I still haven’t read!
We need to pause time so we can catch up.😂
We’re the same for White and Taylor. I’m still missing the last book of The Conqueror Saga and her new one. Also Chaos of Stars seems interesting.
For Taylor, I think I’ll only go for her new series. The others really doesn’t appeal me that much.
The bad thing is that I’m always like “oh, I really like this author” but… 1)have to buy the books 2)have the books but still untoched 3)started the series and wait ages before remembering to purchase the rest.
Like Bardugo…
Ahh it is hard to like keep UP with all the series too, when you have to wait years between releases and like forget things?! I forget things SO fast. *wails*
How do these authors write SO MUCH? Like Laini Taylor and Benjamin Alire Saenz??? How do they write AND live??? I am so confused.
I haven’t read ALL of Adam SIlvera’s books but I really want to! I think the main one I haven’t read is History is All You Left Me. In case you’re wondering, More Happy Than Not is not about being happy. It is very much a Silvera Sadness Syndrome read.
IT MUST BE DARK MAGIC. I’m calling it. I mean.
Ohhh History Is All You Left Me is my favourite of Silvera’s books…and I believe you about More Happy Than Not.😂 Hence I’m avoiding it. My hEART can’t take this ajfdkslad. (I’m just kidding. I will totally read it soon.)
Um….I had NO CLUE Marie had more books, like I thought the winners trilogy was the only thing she had out and now…I must find those middlegrade books! (I did know about the fairy books by Laini though, only because I found them at my library and was like “I know that name!”) but this is brand new information!! (Also when you said “popping out of the snow like daisys” I was like please use a mulan gif….AND YOU DID!) great minds I tell you. 😊
I know right?! I was so surprised about Marie Rutkoski too! And I really need to find these older Laini Taylor books.😂Badly.
I’m at the same place you are with reading Adam Silvera! (except I still haven’t read What If It’s Us).
I was in the Cambridge Library in Boston over the weekend and saw all the books by Benjamin Alire Saenz and couldn’t believe it! I’ve only read Aristotle and Dante (also dying for that sequel BTW) and I have Inexplicable Logic on my TBR list, but there are so many others!! And they all sounded so good!
What If It’s Us is SO adorable.😂I’m expecting More Happy Than Not to totally obliterate my feelings though eep.😂 and Inexplicable Logic is SO good! I loved it.
I still need to read Strange the Dreamer by Laini, but it’s on my list!! And I own it! And you MUST read More Happy Than Not. So good. I still need to read They Both Die at the End.
-Lauren
Omg Strange is just SO GOOD. Legit one of my favourite books of all time!! (And I will definitely read More Happy Than Not this year at least.😂)
I’m trying to read all of Stephen King and Margaret Atwood’s books, but they’ve been writing for longer than I’ve been alive. I can’t catch up! Also, they’ve both written some terrible books, so I get nervous whenever I start a new book. I need to catch up with Adam Silvera and Benjamin Alire Saenz’s work, too. Authors need to stop writing so fast.
Oh wow yes I can imagine! I feel like Stephan King must have a billion books out by now, right?!?
Authors definitely write too fast.😂They need to take a LONG nap so we can catch up.😂
I remember when I read every Rick Riordan book within days of it dropping.
Now I’m two books behind.
If I had a time machine, I would warn my childhood that being an adult is your favourite authors writing books faster than you can read them. :'(
Saaaame with the Riordan books.😂Although if I get sent them for review I’m wAY more likely to read them straight away. But since I stopped being sent many books…oops now I’m a million years behind on everything.😂
Oh authors, you’re all magical creatures with so many stories in you, it’s hard to keep up with sometimes!
The first author that comes to mind that I adore but haven’t read all of his work would be Jay Kristoff. I love his writing, and his gruesome storytelling and yet I haven’t read The Lotus Wars books even though I’ve heard amazing things.
I also haven’t read all of Adam Silvera’s books not because I’m afraid that I won’t love them but because I’m afraid they will WRECK me. I made the mistake of reading History is All You Left Me a week before Christmas and I was horribly sad afterwards haha.
Thanks for sharing, Cait!
~Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
Oh yes me too with Jay Kristoff! I haven’t read his Lotus War books yet…well I read the first one but I remember NOTHING of it.😂So I’d say I need to reread. And fajsdklad I love Adam Silvera’s books but they HURT. 😂
Um, okay, what??? Laini Taylor has SO many more books than I realized. How did I not know this???
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein cover does make my skin crawl but that’s why we disturbed readers love it. It’s deliciously creepy (so hopefully the contents of the book actually are, too!).
I also haven’t read More Happy Than Not, but have read the other Silvera books (except What If It’s Us because no one will approve my ARC requests *cries*). For some reason I didn’t realize that book was his when I decided to check out this author named Adam Silvera who every book blogger seemed to love/hate because his books made them cry. It’s sitting on my shelf now, though, taunting me.
I KNOW RIGHT?! I’m still in shock tbh.😂I need to read them all. Ahhh.
And I actually lowkey truly hate the Elizabeth Frankenstein cover *shudders* But I’m still definitely going to read it because it’s promising the story I want ah ahah. Ahem. And omg More Happy Than Not is kind of terrifying me beCAUSE WILL MY HEART SURVIVE?? I DON’T TRUST ADAM SILVERA ANYMORE.
I can barely scroll down after Laini Taylor and Kiersten White because… WOW. How can someone write so much??? I know Kiersten has a lot of books, I’ve read the Paranormalcy series (and didn’t enjoy it tbh) but I didn’t realize there were THAT much. Same goes with Laini Taylor. I still need to read TDA from Cassandra Clare, Magnus Chase series from Rick Riordan, and 4 books from V.E Scwhab. Even listing them here feels scary for me xD
I still have plenty of Rick Riordan books too don’t worry.😂 But also Cassandra Clare?! I know she’s like coming out with novellas and stuff and I’m just so confused at which to read when lmao. *flaps about trying to read everything*
I was surprised to find out that Suzanne Collins had so many books haha, I had no idea. THANK YOU, I feel like I’ve learned so much about all of these authors, I never knew they all had written SO many books!
I can’t wait for you to read more of Renee Ahdieh’s books, I hope you will at some point, I am such a huge fan of her writing <3
Lovely post, Cait! 😀
They’ve been HIDING these from us.😂I mean I think The Hunger Games just eclipsed Gregor so entirely we forgot it existed?!😂
And I will definitely get around to the rest of Renee’s books!!
I…had no idea Suzanne Collins wrote more than the Hunger Games. Oops?
I know right?! 😂😂 These SECRETS they keep from us.
I dunno if someone has already wrote this, but “A Flame in the Mist” is most definitely NOT a Mulan retelling. I got so mad when they marketed it that way, because even the blurb didn’t sound Mulan-esque. Second, I did actually read it, and after reading it, I can even more confidently say that it is not a Mulan retelling. I was so disappointed by this, and by the book itself, but I know a lot of people who enjoyed it as well, and I wish with all my heart I enjoyed it. I don’t know who said it was a cross between Mulan and “Throne of Glass” but I don’t think they read the book.
Oohhh that’s disappointing. And weird that they’d market it as that? I definitely know I’m not the only one who’s heard it called that!
“This is just who i am as a person.” CAIT! Hahahahahaha! I can’t.
But okay. I feel you with this post. Especially with Benjamin Alire Sáenz. And none of his backlist is available here in the PH?? Like???? You didn’t have to be this cruel, world! And oh. You just reminded me! Mirrorworld #3 was never released here too and I LOVE THIS SERIES OKAY. I even *vaguely* remember thinking I’m actually friends with Jacob at some point. Ssshh. I was delusional as a young person, clearly. But not the actual Most Important Thing! The Thing is you have NOT read More Happy Than Not, and I take great offense!
Saenz’s backlist books seem to be REALLY hard to find! I really struggled to get I Sang To The Monster and that was only 2009 I think?! And omg I wish the Mirrorworld #4 would come out, I HAVE NEEDS HERE (and clearly not enough to read as is😂).
I’m sooooorry about More Happy Than Not. I’m just trying to prepare my heart to be stabbed???? Like is it the kind of stabbing one cannot get up from?? (Aka that nice one he wrote called tHEY BOTH DIE AT THE END. 😭😭)
Wow how can these authors write so much?!?? It’s overwhelming 😂 but all of their books sound great! And although I’m not really interested in Suzanne Collins’ other books, I was so so surprised to find out she had others!!!!
I really need to finish reading all of John Green’s books lol. I love them but then I get distracted by other newer books!!
I know right?!😂I mean sure 1 book a year isn’t so much but when you have like 200+ authors you like….IT GETS A LITTLE BIT STAGGERING. *starts trying to find immortality again* 😂 I’ve actually read all of John Green’s books! I’m proud of myself for once ah hahah.
SO BASICALLY WE ARE OF THE SAME MIND ABOUT THIS. Pretty much all of these authors I am like “Yes, love, slay.” and also, “Wow. They have other books?” I GENUINELY HAD NO IDEA ABOUT SOME OF THESE. Like, Marie Rutkoski and Kiersten White. Also Susanne Collins. HONESTLY, this needs to be fixed. Where have I been? Under a rock? Obviously. Will I get to these? EVENTUALLY. (But really though a++++ post, speaking to my soul, etc etc.)
SO MANY BOOKS SO LITTLE TIME.
I genuinely had no idea till I started writing this post?!? LIKE WHAT IS THIS. WHERE HAVE I BEEN LIVING, TOO, I’M SO CONFUSED. 😂 (Also I think backlist books deserve more love!)
I did not realise that Laini Taylor had that many more books! I knew she had a short story collection but I thought that was all she had done before Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Strange The Dreamer. Ha ha I have so many, it’s actually a little sad. Like I love VE Schwab, have I read all her books? No. Rick Riordan? Yeah same still haven’t. Sarah J Maas? Nope. Maggie Stiefvater? Nope. Apparently even my favourite authors aren’t immune! I do try really hard to keep caught up with all my favourite authors, but they all seem to have quite large back catalogues and it’s hard to keep up!
Omg but okay Rick Riordan is IMPOSSIBLE because he seems to come out with 90930 books per year and how do we keep up with that.😂 I’m only missing 2 Stiefvater books actually!! Her short story in that Curiosity collection and the second of her MG series. 😂
Ha ha this is too true, I don’t even know how he keeps up with himself! Wow that’s pretty good-I have loads of hers I haven’t read yet, I’ve only actually done The Raven Cycle and The Scorpio Races.
Wait wait wait… Laini Taylor wrote faerie books?!!?!?! I was not aware of this? Then again, I have a love/hate relationship with her books. Also Renee Ahdieh wrote a Mulan retelling too? I. Must. Look. Deeper. Into. This. *screeches because I love Mulan so much*
I knew Marie Rutkoski wrote The Shadow Society (though let’s be honest here: I forgot she wrote that book, oops), but never read it myself aside from The Winner’s Curse Trilogy, which I still need to read the last book of? Maybe? I don’t even remember anymore.
I know right?! I’m actually SO excited about the older Laini Taylor books because I’m obsessed with her work and will read everything afjdkslad. And I really like Marie Rutkoski so I’m kind of excited to go find some of her older books now!
THERE ARE SO MANY BOOKS AND WE’RE ONLY 1 PERSON!!! (Or, like, one giant mythical hand-drawn bird, like me.)
I end up taking so long to read sequels that I have to re-read the books before, just to figure out what’s going on. #TrueStory.
Also, mandatory author nap-times would help solve this problem. *nods sagely*
WE NEED OBVIOUSLY MULTIPLE HEADS TO READ THEM ALL. Or…immortality?? Or to stop time? IDK there are options but all of them seem to involve advanced wizardry and I still can’t make my socks appear on command so IDK.
The Sock Goblin takes all of mine!
Prior to this week there were a lot of books by different authors that I didn’t know were out. I’ve had to add books to my TBR this week! Although, when does that not happen?
Omg I know right?! The TTT prompts almost always end up with my TBR screaming at me.😂
#mostoftheseareinmytbrwishlistbecauseisuckkkk
Seriously though, Suzanne Collins I didn’t even realize those existed…like is this common knowledge???
But i suck as a reader and get stuck and just nope….I barely ever read, ever. #dishonoronmedishonoronmycow
It’s like the Hunger Games is SO famous it totally obliterated the existence of the Gregor books. 😂😂
Buuuuutttt it does though lol
I almost put Suzanne Collins on my list until I had some real talk with myself. Am I ever going to actually read Gregor? NO, no I am not, so why lie to myself and everyone else? I also almost added Adam Silvera but I ran out of space and also the will to keep going. Sad. I am reading Salt right now and I have read A History of Glitter and Blood and obviously Teeth is on my wishlist because she is SO delightfully weird! Also I love how we basically did our lists exactly the same way because obviously we are both BRILLIANT, FABULOUS people.
Ah haha I mean, Gregor wasn’t BAD, I just really struggle to connect/care to MG? Like some I wildly do (CORALINE!!) but considering I don’t have a library and I’d have to buy the rest if I want to read them…eh.😂It’s probably not happenign for a while. And omg I love Adam Silvera books I cannot freaking wait for his fantasy.
Hannah Moskowitz writes so much too?! I’m a bit confused though because Salt is like nearly out and I saw on twitter that she said she hated publishing/will never publish again? 😳 I don’t know if it was part of something else or just a throwaway comment but…I will be very sad if she stops writing? Each to their own though I guess…
A lot of these authors have books that I had no idea existed! Adam Silvera and Laini Taylor could have easily made my list. I probably could have done a Top 50 Favorite Authors I Need to Keep Reading post. LOL!
Omg I could do waaaay more too. 😂Every time I read someone else’s list I’m basically like, “YEP ME TOO FOR THIS AUTHOR.” 😂They write faster than we can read okay.😂
Okay so my TBR list just got sooooo much longer! (I swear it’s taller than me at this point! ) I always get so excited when I find so many more books that some of my favourite authors have written! I also still have to read all of Adam Silvera’s incredible books and everything by the amazing Marissa Meyer! And ooooh I’m still so excited for The Boy Who Steals Houses, I read your amazing snippets on Instagram and seriously can’t wait for ittttt! Gorgeous post as always Hun 🙂
Grace Louise || http://www.gracelouiseofficial.blogspot.co.uk/
I think my TBR list could like fill a whole house by this point.😂 IT’S NOT OUR FAULT. IT’S THE BOOKS.😂 And omg yes yes read Adam Silvera’s books! He’s one of my favourite authors.
Awww and thank you for saying so about my TBWSH snippets. 😍 I’m SO FREAKING excited.
I didn’t know Marie Rutkoski had other books!!! And I also read Inkheart and not the other two in the series, need to get on that….
I know right?! This post actually surprised me too. 😂😂
I was aware Laini Taylor had more books, but I didn’t know she’d written that many. I still need to get started on the Strange the Dreamer series.
Some of my favourite authors are really prolific, so I doubt I’ll ever read all of their books (especially since they don’t all appeal to me). I’d list Diana Wynne Jones, Charles de Lint, and L. M. Montgomery among my favourites. Maybe Beverly Cleary, too.
I didn’t know about the faerie ones that’s for sure!! I’d love to read them but the library doesn’t have them bleh. They’re probably out of print too.
Honestly, every single author besides Adam Silvera shocked me! HOW DID I NOT KNOW ALL OF THIS?!?! But also The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke was amazing and I think you’d really enjoy it. Thievery and magic and orphans. Just saying.
I actually even think I OWN The Thief Lord that I got at a library sale ahhhhh. I am so shameful that I haven’t read it yet!
“☆ I didn’t realise they had more books out…because apparently I never pay attention to anything.”
^ This pretty much sums up 95% of the reason I haven’t read backlists from authors. xD I mean, someone just informed me a few months ago that there’s another Discworld book that focuses on Death, and somehow, I had never heard of it?!
I actually just ordered Flame in the Mist! So yay! I’m sure I’ll probably get around to reading it before you do. … Probably? xD
I want to read pretty much everything by Benjamin Alire Saenz, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’m hoping this month to read at least one of his books.
Its so nice to see that I’m not the only slacker haha.
Omg it’s hard keeping up-to-date with everything.😂Or back-to-date. Like someone needs to give us printed lists of all the books of all the authors BECAUSE HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHEN WE’RE OFF DAYDREAMING. (Aka what I do 90% of the time.) And oooh I hope you like Flame in the Mist!! You will almost definitely read it before me lmao.
Oh my god same! Gregor didn’t hold my interest at all, Hunger Games really are Suzanne’s best works 😊
I’ve read Inkheart and Dragon Rider by Funke and they’re both great but honestly I struggled through parts of Inkdeath because it had sudden lows and boring parts and then there was Inkspell which despite my many attempts I couldn’t get through with even the first chapter. I think that was one of the first books I ever DNFedm
(idk or is it reverse? Gah I just struggled to read the sequel and DNFed the 3rd book, don’t ask me titles!!)
Haha you and I are on the same page with Adam but not for long since I’ll be getting WIIU soon! 😊
Also like this whole post is so relatable like when do all these authors produce these books?!? How?? Why?? I mean ho w do we keep up?!
Agh that’s what worries me about the Inkheart trilogy haha.😂 They’re SO BIG I can’t help but wonder if they’ll be slow and I’m allergic to slow books.😂
Omg I hope you like What If It’s Us!! I’m thinking of tossing my TBR and reading More Happy Than Not by him but am I ready to have my heart ripped out yet?!
Oh the Inkheart trilogy is definitely slow!
Omg yes More Happy Than Not will absolutely shatter you. I cried so much while reading it and towards the end it’s just so depressing and like wow I didn’t need my heart anyway, Adam can have it. Also that plot twist. Totally squeezes out your soul.
I didn’t know Suzanne Collins and Marie Rutkoski had other books!? It’s amazing to see the writing pasts of some popular YA authors.
One of my favourite authors (who I talk about ALL the time) is Chris Wooding- I loved The Ketty Jay series but I know he previously had a range of MG books. I have recently bought his new epic fantasy book though- The Ember Blade- so I’m trying to catch up!
This is a great post Cait- love it 😀
